one but two big football topics involving big stars and
their grandfathers.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Double up.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, like you know the old Comedy Central commercial Every
comedian and their grandmother this week, and it was every
comedian to do a commercial with their grandmother and the
grandmothers are walking around over them.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
So it's a good bit, and grandma's are funny sometimes
it is, it is fun intentionally.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So first let's deal with what is happening at Notre
Dame where CJ. Carr was named starting quarterback for the
University of Notre Dame this season, winning the Quarterback Derby Battle.
And the name is notable because he is Chuck Cars.
Now he's got Chuck Carr in the show. It is
notable because he is former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr's grandson.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
So now number one. Okay, so you got a kid
that's going to start for Notre Dame and somehow he
didn't want to go to Michigan. Ok oh, okay, okay.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Or Michigan decided they already had their guy.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
But when he's not pledging it fraternity, when I he's
a legacy, yeah, legacy.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Let him into the trilandas land to Landolanda.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
When I told Pam this today, I said, so, no,
Tre Dame has their new quarterback. She goes, why do
I care? You know Michigan says why do I care?
I go, well, I think the name is familiar, and
she goes, what who what she said? She said, did uh?
Did did uh? What's a Did Jack Tuttle get an
eighth year? And I said no, no Jack, I said
c J. Carr And she goes, no, I said your grandson.

(02:43):
I said grandson. She was how do we let that happen?

Speaker 5 (02:47):
Now?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
If it was his kid?

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah, yeah, come on, Oh you never know out there.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Because the thing is, when Pam worked in the football
office at Michigan, she did a lot of stuff. She
was at a lot of stuff in the office with
Lloyd car I met Lloyd Carr once, uh when and
we went back to Michigan for a game. She got
to take me to the football office and Lloyd Cars's,
ah been wondering where you were. How's graduation? Really nice,
asked her how she was doing? Met him because it's
my boyfriend, Jason. O. Hey, nice to meet you. How's
it going. So he's really nice guy, and I'm sitting

(03:13):
I thought about that today. I'm like, man, his grandson.
The quarterback at Notre Dame. And when I said this story,
Zoe was an earshot and I turned. I said, despite
the fact you heard this story, you're never going to Georgetown. No,
I don't care what they offer you. You're not going
to Georgetown. It's great, great, Oh yeah, no, no way,
not going to Jordan.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Not happening.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
This is I can't believe he's He's at Notre Dame,
gonna be the started quarterback Greg So the last guy
before Harbor.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
To win the national championship at Michigan. Here he is
quarterback for Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Still, have you know some questions about the angst you
have related to Georgetown.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
There's gotta be some other deep seed. I can't know.
I can't reject you categorical.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
You sent an application in in the same day I
was saying, beat it, no, no, not just someone spitting.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
You is what happens. Again.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I don't have any more hate in my body for
anything more than Georgetown because I grew up obviously in
New York and rooting for Saint John's most of my
life till I got Syracuse, So of course I hated Georgetown, Georgetown,
Saint John's. I couldn't stand Georgetown Okay. Then I go
to Syracuse. Who can I stand Georgetown. It's a lifetime
of hate. And then it's and then it's John Thompson

(04:24):
with his manly Field Houses clothes and all his crazy
ass stuff. And I just can't stand sure because your
guy wasn't insane in his own right.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
It's the matter he.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Was my I went to see I get that I wanted.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I was thinking about when I was a junior applying
to Notre Notre Dame, applied never getting in that Beano
cook Witz. I don't like this Smith guy, and he's
awful about applying to George. And I remember my my
English teacher who was my advisor, Missus Wagner, who then
left to go be a principal. She's one of my
favorite teachers of all time. She said, Oh, Jason, don't apply.
Why she's because no one from Curtis has gotten in

(04:57):
here at high school. No one's gotten in in in
twenty five years.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
But you could have been the first. You could have
broken the street.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
And what she said is, she goes, and and I
love your grant. I graduated in the top ten percent
of my class. He goes, I love you, and you're
you're you're you're, you're doing great, but the grades you
need are not quite what some of these other people
have had, and they're not getting in. And I said,
you don't think I can? I can, and she goes,
I'm just saying, how much does it cost to apply
to college or I don't know, seventy five bucks. That's

(05:23):
seven not seventy five, whatever it was. That's seventy five
dollars you could save. They've not done until my knowledge,
I don't think they've taken money from Georgetown to my knowledge,
I don't think they've done that. Still my high school.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
So someone who was once upon a time in charge
as a liaison, either principal or guidance counsel or somebody
pissed somebody off in the admissions office of Georgetown and
you've been blacklisted. I think that's really when it comes
down that school's not as good as you think.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
It's somebody in Georgetown going, where's this Curtis High School?

Speaker 3 (05:54):
It's in Staten Island. Isn't that where Saint John's is?

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Yeat X out, say you're you're out.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
You're not getting in.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
So I didn't just have a map on the wall
when it says anybody within these zip codes, does it
get in.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
I can't suddenly turn that hate into being excited for
Zoe if she went to Geordan. I'm like, I'm not
gonna wear the gear. I'm not gonna be excited to
go to campus. I'm not none of those things. Don't
You never applied, you never found out, doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
I can't go and you chose to go from one school,
you know, you were just kind of following to man,
making it an active hatred in no way.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Can't do it. Can't do it.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
There's I wouldn't be able to. I couldn't flip that.
So just like Pam couldn't flip the switch if she
somehow got it and got a full ride to Ohio States,
I can't do it. Can't walk around house Whereio State gear.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I think you'd get over it.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Now, certain things I think I think Pam like I
would claw through the dirt with my nails to make
to get something else, to get her into a different
school than Ohio State Lands is how it goes.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Just that if she does it out of Spike, listen,
take some money that she squirreled away and applies surreptitiously.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Hey, where are you going? Money hidden in coffee cans
buried around the city. I'm gonna go dig up a
couple of them and save some of that money. Oh okay,
greats trading Pokemon cards.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
I don't know. You never can't tell.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Meanwhile, another quarterback and his grandpa. Yeah, news this arch
and Archie Manning. I think arch and Archie sounds like
a pretty good duo, arch and Archie. That's not bad
because you had the Archie's Yeah, jug had an Archie.
But arch and Archie sounds like a like a like
a new indie music duo. Dude, you get the new
album by arch and Archie. Oh yeah, it's really really good.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Look at that through it from arch Manning. So sweet,
sug up.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
So it was about honey ten days or so ago
where Archie Manning, Archer's grandfather, former Saints quarterback father to
Payton any life. I did an interview saying that yeah,
arch is going back to Texas next year, He's not
going to the NFL.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Whoa whoa? Really wait? Whoa whoa whoa?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
That became a story and in the last twenty four hours,
both arch and Archie Manning have addressed Archie Manning's comment
that arch is going to be going back to Texas
next year. Here's arch Manning on what his grandfather said.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Where he got that from.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
He's text me to pod about that, but I'm really
just taking a day by day right now.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
I don't know where he got it from. He texted
me and apologized, Grandpa, what the hell are you doing?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
What's wrong with you? Grandpa? Grandpa?

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Pick up the phone. I'm calling you, Grandpa. Grandpa, We're
gonna FaceTime right now. You pick up this phone, Grandpa.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Did this all happen like an episode at the end
of like Blue Bloods where they're all sitting at dinner
table and they've been fighting all day and now they
gotta play nice. Nah uh, and then arch and Archie
going into a back room and have it out.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Look, here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Archie Manning then was asked about this as well, and
he said, listen, we have a great grandfather grandson relationship.
I'm not involved in his football journey.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Oh really.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
The guy who told the Chargers my son is not
going to sign with you, and a guy who made
sure to go on a podcast and say arch is
going back to Texas next year. Oh but you're you're
you're completely uninvolved with the First thing I want to
say is, man, I can imagine that text exchange with
arch and Archig Man, I really I want to see.
I want Pablo Tory to find that out like Pablo
Tory finds him. So forget about Belichick and Jordan Hudson.

(09:13):
I want to see the copy of that text message
between arch and Archie and see what it is.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
I don't know that anybody's gotten more wrought out of nothing,
yeah story than he did.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
What you gotta God bless you.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Think Archie used emojis to say apologize, use the praying hands,
I'm sorry, and arch I is communicating entirely through emojis,
and that wouldn't Hanny like Grandpa.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
WTF, what do you mean? Why the face?

Speaker 5 (09:33):
No?

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Come on, Grandpa, what are you doing to me? Telling
me I'm going back?

Speaker 4 (09:36):
I said, look, we're gonna hash this out where the
the intersection is once for a Super Bowl New Orleans
wandering around during the week, I was at this spot
and I'm seeing this shadow coming off at church and
I had a guy come out of the shadows and goes,
you know this is where the battle of good and
evil happens every night, And I've been.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Looking around like, am I about to be shived?

Speaker 4 (09:56):
I don't know, but maybe they met it that digsact
spot to hash this out?

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Was that was?

Speaker 5 (10:01):
That?

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Was that the streaming show with.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
I can't think of his name whether it's good and
Evil and one and and it's like the Battle between
Heaven and Hell and it's the it's the guy from
oh and uh, he's in a bunch of other things.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
He was what was David Tennant?

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Right?

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:21):
What was David Tennant? And the other guy? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:22):
And the other guy was he was in he was
in the Twilight movies. He was what's his name with
the Vulture? And I can remember all of these things,
but I can't remember his name.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
That is that kind of what you're thinking?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I know, yeah, that kind of thing.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
So now we're having this conversation did we really need
to go down this class? And now you've brought in
a bunch of evil on what I'm trying to do
here at Texas.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
You know, I've not done anything substantly.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yet, Grandpa, But what do you do?

Speaker 5 (10:45):
Now?

Speaker 2 (10:45):
All I got is your name.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
I'm not gonna believe for a second Archie man Oh,
I completely not, because you don't do a podcast and
say that, right. I get be that's a good omens.
I'm get being protective grandfather and I understand that. But
to go on a podcast and say he's coming back
to Texas next year, Yeah, I'm not gonna believe you
this Sunday. I'm just a guy who just sits home
and you know, sits on the porch and whistles old
TV theme songs and waits for the neighbors to drive by.

(11:10):
But really, look what he was doing. It's very easy,
and that's what's getting lost. The plot is getting lost,
and that this thing was very innocuous and he turned
it into a thing. If arch Manning is great, it's
going to the NFL. I don't think there's any question
he'll be the number one overall pick. Anybody whoever gets
a the pick would take him, and potentially, if it's
the Jets, you get another Manning twenty years later or

(11:31):
twenty five years later, saying sorry, Bill Parcells, I'm gonna
go back to college for a year.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
But what he's doing is just he wanted to get.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
In front and say, hey, just in case Arch is
not good, right, just in case, which if your Arch,
you're going grampy, you really think I'm gonna suck this
year that I'm going because the only reason he goes
back to Texas is if he has a good year.
But it's not good enough, right, if he's not good enough,
if he doesn't succeed as well. Hey, so I want
to get in front of this by saying I'm going
back to Texas. Want to tamp down all the talk

(11:59):
on a tamp down all of the negative talk that
could get because if Arch Manning sucks Week one against
Ohio State, man, it's gonna.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Be this guy's overrated, He's terrible. He should never been here.
Where's Quinn yours?

Speaker 1 (12:08):
We should have kept him, We should have gone back
and got Chris Sims and major apple White. So all
he is doing is they're trying to control the narrative of, Hey,
he's not going to the NFL that way.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Oh, if he's really.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Good, oh we can change our mind. Right, It's very
innocuous what he was trying to do. But when you
come out and say, hey, you know, if he you know,
he's going back to text, it's like WHOA. So you
want to throw out there the possibility he could stink
this year, cause that's the only reason he's going back.
I mean, I'm sorry, but that's something you deal with
as a family. When you are the number one recruit
in the country and you've made more money already than
the ninety nine percent of people who live in the

(12:42):
United States, you've not even really stepped on a football
field as a starter, then you know what, I'm sorry,
You got to deal with the questions and what goes
on about you going to the NFL or not. Pretty
sure your family is okay with that. I'm pretty sure
they love the limelight. So this is what I call
occupational hazard, that you're gonna have to deal with questions
about going to the NFL or if you're not a
great quarterback.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yeah, I mean, at this point, it's we're watching it.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
We just talked about Anthony richardson the last hour, right,
Very few starts go in and raw and all of
those things, because he's got off the chart athletic abilities.
It has not been harnessed into a functional complete NFL quarterback.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
At this point.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
For arch Manning, you're looking at just as many starts
as what you had from Anthony Richardson, history says that
has not worked out very well. You got very few
outliers of guys that went on to great careers, So
maybe you have that. But yeah, to your point, it
gives you the wiggle room if things don't go according
to plan.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
If you do get it.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Look, all those poison Pen columns and probably some sounders
have already been scripted for radio stations and newspaper columnists
and whatever. In the event that arch Manning doesn't come
out like his airs on fire with a four hundred
yard four touchdown performance, which guess what, he's probably.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Gonna fall short.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Get Ready, get ready, it's gonna be if he's not
great week one. Get ready, man, I would say, and
that's say, Grandpa, what are you doing? What you think
I'm gonna stink? Damn gonna stake?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
What are you doing? Grandpa? What are you doing? What
do I say? Whenever, whenever relatives, family gets involved.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
It's never good. It's never good Manning, and he is
Archie man here no better right exit out about a

Joining us now in the hot lot for all the
big NFL news. We got quarterback Derby's being solved. We
have Dallas Cowboy divorces being debated. It is longtime NFL insider.
Check him out on the thirty third team. He is
a Hall of very good voter. It is Jason Cole.
What's happening?

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Man?

Speaker 5 (16:33):
It was all the same last week. What happens?

Speaker 3 (16:36):
You get one week? Now it's back to the Hall
of very good. That's how it goes. You got a week.
I gave you a week.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
He's on a proven thing, I think, is what he's doing.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, no, no, it's well it was.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Yeah, you're gonna start singing like Ringo star what's my name? DJing?

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Clearly, I'm going to live forever.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
I'm going to learn how to fly high like Jason
Cole DJ exactly right.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
So what somebody who's not flying high? Anthony Richardson?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Oh I was going I was gonna say Archie Manning.
But okay, are we gonna doing Anthony Richardson first?

Speaker 5 (17:19):
That's fine, Okay, not shocking, like this is like one
of the most this long with Trey Lance. Where is
these were two really incredibly predictable falls, right because because
it didn't make a lot of throws in college. I mean,
he's Anthony Richidson through three hundred ninety three passes, my

(17:40):
favorite in college, and he's thrown like three fifty in
the pros. He's throwing less passes than Aton Manning through
in his first three years at Tennessee, so like he's
just never learned to play the position. My favorite part
of this is when the agent goes, I really don't know
about the trust. What does that mean? I feel like.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Your guy lost the job. You can trust that they
don't think he's as good as the other guy. You
can trust that there's nothing destroyed about it. It's you know,
the verdict is like he's not good enough, and now
you've got to figure out a way to make him
good enough so that he can maybe play somewhere down
the line, maybe with the Colts, because look, they mentioned

(18:24):
him for for Daniel Jones. You don't think the job's
going to.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Open up somewhere down the line, no matter what chance
Stiking is saying someplace else. You know, this is Daniel.
This is Daniel Jones. We're talking about like he's terrible.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
So you put some respect on Danny.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I really thought he would go down the Hey he
can't stay healthy.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
No, it was come on, man, you're fired over Daniel Jones.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
Come on your look, you're as you try to justify
Daniel Jones as a possible starter in this lad. You
can't keep the straight face.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
I think he want to be fine.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
I think he'll be fine with that this offense is loaded.
I think he's gonna be fine. I think he's gonna
move the team up and down the field. Think he's
gonna be okay.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
Oh that's such a lie.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be okay, I really do.

Speaker 5 (19:13):
This is just this is just, oh radio guy. I'm
gonna take the opposite position of this, and I'm gonna
sell it like I really believe it. You believe me
you're saying this moment. It's just you're just playing an
anchor man right now where you're trying to throw it
out like you really believe what you think. But you don't.
You know it. You watched it. I watched it terrible.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I've seen I've seen Danyl.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I've seen Daniel Jones play somewhat well in the right
and vine.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Wow. Look, I'm not saying he's great, seeing him place somewhat,
but he's in a five minutes.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
He's in an opportunity to succeed. Now, he's got great
weapons all around him on offense. Right, he's not in
a great division. I can see the Colts being fine
this year, not that he's going to suddenly win a
passing Titler throw for three fifty a week.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
But can I see him getting the team up and
down the field.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Sure, you're saying nine and eight. Maybe they sneak their
way into winning the division because the division is so bad, right,
This is the argument that we're trying to make. And
I've already brought.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
You around to my side. I've already brought you around
to my side there.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
And like you said, now, this is this is me
doing the playing this app playing out the string of this.
Let's go to Baltimore for the first playoff game and
see how that goes.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Oh, I don't care about the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
He just wants to get through the division.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
He's just going, hey, I just have to take down
in tennessee Trevor Lawrence and watch whether Houston can get
it right. That's always trying to argue here. He's not
saying there's a super Bowl at one hundred to one.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
You kidd me? Playoffs? Playoff?

Speaker 3 (20:49):
You kidding me?

Speaker 7 (20:50):
Playoffs.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
This is such a wistful thinking for the cult. Oh
my god, but no, the answer for the look Anthony Richardson.
I feel really bad for the kid in a lot
of ways because he should have stayed in college. He
should have you know, everything that could go wrong did

(21:14):
go wrung the COVID year he got injured in high school.
He's a really really nice kid, and he's a very
bright kid too, but he hasn't had a chance to
just play, and you can't learn that job at this level.
It's it's it's like it's like throwing a kid who's
just started trigonometry into calculus too. It's just not fair,

(21:38):
and it's just it's ridiculous the level difference between what
he's capable of doing right now and what he's being
asked to do. It's just impossible, all right.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
So let's go from that can't win, can't can't make
it work to another situation that seems to be where
we're drawing towards the witching hour. Here, is Michael Parsons
going to get his divorce from Jerry Jones? Are commer
Head's going to prevail or is this.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Just going to linger?

Speaker 5 (22:11):
When I will say the comments coming out of Adam
Schefter were interesting today because they re encounter to how
this typically goes to the cowboys and they like the
drama right up to the end and then they're playing
up now maybe just maybe this is a full part
of the drama, and they're playing it up even more,

(22:31):
and so Jerry's really trying to amp up the drama.
But man, I have such a the look on like
a person's like that video of him today, just sitting
there in the corner of the end zone in the
chair like the I don't know if it came out today,
but I saw it today. I was like, wow, let's look,

(22:54):
there's a look of a guy who's like, get me
out of here, and get me out of here now.
I don't want any part of that. I'm done, I'm tired.
I'm out like Vominos who Joe like get me you know,
even the side of Cowboy Bees. I will run through
an entire five of Cowboy Bes to get out of

(23:17):
this place that's right now.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Or is it just the sadness that he's not out
there able to just run and wreak avocate.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
Sure, yeah, yeah, well the whole thing. That's another one.
Sell that one to yourself. Radio boy.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
You know, I know that. I know that.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Jerry Jones always hey, listen, this is the art of
the deal. And Parsons was told by other players, Hey,
let Jerry win the battle in the in the press
and you'll get paid. But eventually you're going to run
into a player that says no. And you know, Dak
was fine with it, and Ezekiel Elliott was fine with it,
and Ceedee Lamb was fine with it. And Michael Parsons
is like, no, I'm not going to do that. I'm
not going to do it, and and he's going to

(23:57):
get to and Jerry Jones can go, oh man, I'm
going to lose this one, and he's gonna have to
trade the best defensive player in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
And the Patriots yesterday said.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Hey, we got draft picks, we got all kinds of money. Yeah,
hey we can make a big trade.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
If you want to call us Jerry.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Well we'll we'll we'll push all in. Yeah, there is
one this I would say that this one's a little
bit different because of the way Jerry publicly played the
negotiation part of it on the you know, the handshake
agreement and all that, because that's that made Mica look

(24:32):
like he had done something wrong when really Jerry had
done something wrong. He did and he did something that's
really kind of maliciously wrong. And I've this on the show,
like they should have been doct a third round pick already,
if the if the NFLPA had anybody you know better

(24:53):
than you know, Krusty the clown running the show, right
heah right, So if they had anything better than that,
they might have filed a grievance against the Cowboys and
cost him a pick because he openly said that he
talked to the player directly rather than talking to the
agent and has maintained at that. And that's that's taking

(25:15):
advantage of the player and putting in him in a
position where it looks like he broke his word. So
that's where this one went a little further than you know,
the classic one that with dez Ezekiel, Sean Lee, Dak Prescott,
you know, ceedee lamb. Those it was just you know,
it was a game out front like, oh, well we're

(25:35):
going to pay you know, holding the line until he
am here, and this is what I'm going to do.
And yeah, me and my negotiating skills. I mean, whether
you're crosting yourself more money every year because he waited
for the last minute.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
See, I was thought of the Zeke Elliott one Jakole
was him like he was read in Shaws, ain't going
to meet uh, you know, Tim Robbins while he's working
on the boat, and that's where he found Zeke and
was able to hash out a deal.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
You thought it was like that that we were getting
reunited on the beach at the end. Yeah, as it says,
you know, in a loving memory of Alan Greenberg or
whoever that was.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Well, that came up after the fact. What are you doing?

Speaker 5 (26:17):
Yeah, just just thing that was that was that. I
always remember that because it always comes up, but whenever
I see at the end of that movie. Now, so
this random association done.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Warning to you. I've been working on his boat for
a while. Glad you're here.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
You's going to take over, all right. Joe Klacco is
the elite.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
How fun is Jerry walking? Is Jerry walking up on
the boat? Or is Jerry on the boat and he's
the Tim Robbins Garrett.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Jerry, Jerry's on the boat. Jerry's on the boat, and
it's a cowboy boat. It's already got the big star
on the side and everything else.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Towboy.

Speaker 5 (26:51):
In fact, what it is is that it's AD two
hundred and fifty million dollar yacht that has gone a
ground and he's working out.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
You thought it was going to be.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
Sticking a mile out to see basically, okay, all right,
what's next, Let's go.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Last Cleveland, the bastion of stability. Just like Jerry Jones,
Joe Flacco is your guy? Do they carry four quarterbacks?
It's the weekly update on what's going on in the chaos.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
You know, I thought about an improvement to Smith's abbet
about all four will play.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah, he added the fifth guy.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
You know, it's five now it's now five because he's
gonna squeak one out like week seventeen.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
But here's what I want to know, Like, this is
the mystery quarterback that we don't know yet who's going
to be.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
It's a sinister six, like a Spider Man villain.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
This is what I'm saying. There's all five of those
guys will play at some point in time. Even it
finally doesn't make the team, he's gonna play because they'll
just have him outside the stadium and go, hey, it's
your turns, you know, like get right there, and he'll
be any interform and they'll just you know, and the
NFL will say, yeah, cool, you're the Browns will let

(28:08):
you activate a player during the game. And no, but
there's gonna be like another quarterback. There's gonna be a
mystery quarterback.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Branded he's gonna start Brandon Yeah yeah, but.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
Here he got the gig one. Don't you think we're like,
there's gotta be somebody. There's gotta be somebody else.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Auto Graham, Well, he wants another name for that jersey.
That's what he's trying to do. He doesn't want to repeat.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Oh okay, so I can't get We can't go with
Brian Okay, no, Brian, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
No, I want like yeah, like, I mean, I could
have said Wiley Tittle that would have been interesting.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
But Mike Phipps, Yeah, okay, let's get Yeah.

Speaker 5 (28:48):
How about how about Greg Couch for your for your history,
bess uh not Cam Couch, Couch, Greg Couch, Yes, for
the Greg Couch who's the game. In the nineteen sixty
nine draft, they took him a number five pick. That's
that's so obscure. It's unbelievable that I can remember that. Now.

(29:11):
I'm certingly like Mike White, somebody like.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
That, Okay, Mike White, sure, sure.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
Yeah, So that's a good that's a good betting. I
mean Orlowsky could him out of retirement. They can try that.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
No, Mike White.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Mike White is America's interim quarterback, so I think, yeah,
that's pretty good.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
I like them. That's a pretty good call. I think
he's the mystery quarterback. I guess it is. The five
guys that are currently on roster will play at some
point in time for the Browns. But America who is
the Browns mystery quarterback for this season and her now
to win prizes.

Steve The Jason Smith show with my best Friend Mike
harmon coming up. Next we had a big retirement from
THE nba, today and normally when a guy like this,

(33:54):
retires we focus on the glass half empty, part because,
boy his career really left something to be. Desired but
did it really or was it way better than anybody remembers?
It that's next right, Here jason And Mike Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Radio be sure to catch live editions Of The Jason
Smith show With Mike harmon weekdays at ten Pm, eastern
seven Pm, Pacific Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith show
With my best Friend Mike.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Harmon we got MORE nfl on the way in about
ten minutes but, uh big story out of basketball. Today
John wall retired from the league after eleven, years hasn't
played the last couple of. Years it was Okay John,

(34:43):
wall you remember he, was you, know was a terrific
player for a, while then couldn't stay healthy and made
it official by retiring. Today and usually a player Like John,
wall when they, retire we sit back and, say, man
that's a glass half empty career for, him because here he.

(35:04):
Is he played twenty seven to twenty, eight then he got.
Hurt did he ever really realize his? Promise and that's
kind of been the narrative about, him is, that, ah,
boy too bad injuries and and not quite the player
he was when he came out Of. Kentucky, right too
bad he got sent To. Washington, yeah well that's the.
Thing but that's not the case For John. Wall AND

(35:25):
i know that the narrative Around wall is he wasn't
quite you, know number one overall pick out Of kentucky
and his highlight, Tape hiss mixtape was. Amazing his Year
kentucky was, great but, boy yeah didn't really, achieve didn't
really go that far in the playoffs year to, year
and really it was a glass half. Empty, no this
guy had a glass half full, career and injuries robbed

(35:48):
him that if he didn't get, hurt like because he,
could he couldn't really be a full time player in
THE nba anymore after the age of twenty. Eight, Right
Remember John wall was only you, know thirty four years,
old but he was a five Time All. Star, okay
he could do it. All you see. Something that's Why
i'm glad seeing some of the highlights of him being
able to get down the, floor dribble behind his back

(36:09):
and get to the, hoop his little fade away crossover.
Dribble he had a lot Of ai to his. Game
he had a lot Of kyrie to his. Game if
he didn't get, hurt we would look at him like
we look At Kyrie irving right the, ore and then
as he got later in his, career we would look
at him like we look At Damian. Lillard because he
stayed With, washington he Loved, washington did so many great
things in the. Community you saw The wizards put out

(36:31):
a bunch of stuff. Today thank you for all the
different things you have done in our city for the
past decade. Plus like he was a, guy he was All. Washington,
right he was there doing all great. Things he was
a phenomenal. Player and it's only because he was a
really good player on a bad team, That, yeah the
guy didn't achieve. Much, well you know, What Damian liller
was the same guy right got to The Western conference

(36:51):
finals once finally did. That that would Be John wall's.
Career if he didn't, stay if if he didn't get,
hurt eventually the tide would have turned and it would
have Been look how good a player he. Is he
wants to stay In. Washington why does he not want to?
Leave he could go any place. Else he could be a.
Superstar he could win a title someplace. Else he doesn't get.
Hurt he's got The Damian lillard. Reputation but it happens

(37:12):
he got. Hurt he didn't win In. Washington he tried
to come. Back it wasn't, Great and the narrative of
he didn't really live up to expectations is able to take,
hold even though it's an erroneous narrative for him finishes
with what eighteen to seven a, game almost nine assists per,
game five Time All star want To dunk. Contests put

(37:33):
that in your pipe and smoke. It but, yeah playing In,
washington you get lost.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
And certainly you look over the course of his, career
go back to the college, accolades and then the debate
of his age and whether he should come, out whether
he should go you, know to, college all of that fun.
STUFF i, mean you got one guy left from that
draft class to put it all in, Perspective Joel.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Embiid, RIGHT i mean that's. It, Yeah, no, no, no
is he the?

Speaker 5 (37:59):
Year?

Speaker 1 (37:59):
No the only guy left from the twenty ten draft
class now Is Paul. George Okay, georges, right but just
aging those. Guys let me make Sure Paul george is
still in THE.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
Nba oh.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Wow but another, guy, right great, player but injuries and
all this other. Stuff and THAT'S i guess that's the
tale of some of these guys from that that. Era,
uh and how they came into the, league the number
of them that had significant injuries that derailed some of
the great expectations that you. Had to your, point The
lillard comp is. APT i, mean great, career great, numbers

(38:34):
but you go to a place where you're acknowledged for
your your, greatness but question that you didn't want to
leave and go win somewhere else that you didn't want
to team. Up AND i think we're coming back around
to the romanticism of that idea where for a few
years it became the all, Right i'm going to go

(38:54):
find my title and.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
THEN i go.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Back, yeah all, right what did you talking? About, Hey
lebron may go back. Again keep keep the keep the lights.
On that's gonna.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Happen, Well but but just.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
The idea being, that for For John wall you had
this long run and to finally call it a. CAREER
i HONESTLY i thought that had already, happened, right because,
Well clippers will do that to. Gas there's plenty of
careers where it's like that guy was really good where oh,

(39:27):
yeah you read the numbers and you, say, yeah that's
why he didn't Win.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
Clippers ride, clippers, right forgot because you Know, clippers oh,
Right like when you, say and you didn't win because
you Know, Jets oh.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Right, right that's all you have to. Do wait where
did he? Play? Okay?

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Good?

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Sure, Sure BUT i mean that's people forget how good
he was because it's been it's been five. Years but
that's the hard, part, Right but a lot of guys
get lost in the in THE, nba, right because we
gravitate to probably about eight teams that are heavily in
the rotation of the evening, games.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
And then in the.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
Playoff if you get a little bit of, shine all
of a, sudden you're the next big thing and stories
are written and you get the little. Vignettes John wall
hasn't had one of those in a. While we haven't
had that opportunity to go down memory lane and show
what he, was so to get some highlight videos again
today a reminder of when he was at his. PEAK i,
mean because to average nearly nineteen points a, game that

(40:21):
means you had some really high moments along the.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
WAY i, mean, really he was absolutely fantastica's first five
years in the. League he just happened to play with
a bad. Team and it goes either. Way sometimes it's
all you're a hero Like Damian, lillard or it's all you're,
underachieving and that.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Just happened to be the. Narrative but he was.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Fantastic exit out about A fresca exit Swallen'dome coming up?
Next are we inching closer to the best defensive player
in THE nfl getting? Traded that's next right, Here jason
