You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside, Happy Tuesday, the Jason Smith Show with
my bas friend Mike Harmon. What a fantastic day it is.
It's always it's a wonderful to start doing the whole pavarati.
Oh it's such a perfect Oh yeah, no oni ye okay, yeah,
(00:53):
you gonna beat the Reds again for me tonight? Yes? Okay? Good? Good?
You want Ryan Helsley, I can. I can get the
trade DEADLINEX. You can have him if you want. How
many antenna pop ups were there to none yet? None yet?
For over forty years, tire Rack's been uping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Shipped fast and free, backed by free road hazard protection,
(01:16):
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation tire rack
dot Com is the way tire buying should be. Well, yes,
it's Kershaw day, Red's Dodgers coming up, Mets Phillies five
to five in the eighth because Ryan Helsley's terrible. Uh
but I called it though.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I mean, you said, yeah, he's this guy's about to
give up a home run, and the next pitch and
you give him a home run, a nice fat one
that didn't move inner.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Part of the plate. Caring beautiful. Now, not only can
I be a GM or a manager from three thousand
miles away, I can tell the future wait to go Karnak.
But so today I really got my daughter, Zoe. She
came home from school and, uh, you know it, we're
just you know how school Greg. She was, Oh my god,
did you hear about Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift? And
(01:59):
I said, and and and and Pam goes and right
away we do the same thing. Pam goes, No, what
I go, Oh, yeah, uh they broke up. Yeah, that
that engagement got called off. She was, what I go, Yeah,
they put it out too early. Something happened. I said,
So apparently it wasn't supposed to go out. But but
I think somebody. His people put the pictures out early.
(02:20):
They got mad, and then she put out his hang,
I got the statement right here, and I have my
phone and they're pretending to read. I go, uh, I
don't know if I can trust the person I'm supposed
to marry with something so important. We are going to
end our relationship at this time. There will be more information, uh,
at appropriate time. And I put and I'm almost gonna crack,
and she goes, oh my god, how did that? This
(02:41):
all happened while I was in science class?
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Eh?
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Dad? They they were engaged. And now I don't know
what to tell you.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Hey, stuff happened. He got out there book You ready
at you fast? You start reading the socials, bad things happen?
Speaker 1 (02:54):
You ready to put the pictures out there? Yes? No, no,
no no, so she and then after I said that,
I put the phone down and she will what And
then I laughed. I'm like, okay, now I'm gonna let her,
And she goes, oh, Dad, she was. She was so upset.
She was so upset with.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Something like the phanto snap like was inevitable, well just.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Kind of was. They moved on. It was it was inevitable, right,
it was inevitable that we were going to see this
and clearly look, I mean love love uh, Taylor Swift
and Travis Kelsey hate them. It's it's the biggest story
in the world today. I mean not just sports, but
it's the biggest story out there. It's it's it bumps
everything off the front page, just crazy stuff going on,
(03:38):
and it's just oh yeah, Travis te Swift, Yeah yeah,
and credit let's go. Yeah. It's I really it's it's
that's unbelievable. I had the biggest thing. But I want
I don't want to say this because this is something
that this is what every guy should learn from this.
(03:59):
And I want to say as the kid, I learned
this lesson at a very young age. I never really
had to learn it, but I just knew it. Now,
don't ask me what my success rate was. This is
why Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift right, this is for
everyone love it. This is why you always shoot your shot?
You oh, you know, you go back to that old
(04:19):
I forget who it was, was it, Wayne Gretzky? You
miss one hundred percent of the shots, you don't take right.
You always shoot your shot. Do you think Sandy always.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
Rain.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
You always shoot your shot because you never know, right,
you never know. And clearly here's Travis Kelsey who shot
a shot. It didn't work right when he first, you know,
said he wanted to do it. But then you know
how things now, obviously things are a little bit different.
When I say for you and I shoot your shot
means if you meet somebody you like and you think,
I don't know, they're gonna say no, what's the worst
(04:55):
they can say is no? Right, So you go you
try to, you know, show your game superstar.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Now.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
So I mean you could shoot your shot anywhere, anytime,
any place.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, yeah, but look but I'm married. The kid's taken. Okay.
I mean maybe a few years ago I could have
showed you something. But uh but but that's why you
always shoot your shot. And this is just like in
a bar with someone you talk, you see, because what's
gonna happen or she says, she says, no, okay, it's
not gonna be you know, it's it's not the I
don't know what what fears people would usually have about this,
(05:24):
but it's not like, hey, someone's gonna take video of
this put it on social media. Like when I was
a kid and I grew you would think me because
I was I was short. Growing up, I wasn't the
the the you know, the five nine uh version of
Dwayne Johnson, that that hulk that you've become so like
in you know, you're the smash middle school. In the
first couple of years of high school and everything, I
didn't really I didn't really. I didn't really become the
(05:46):
kid until college. Right, Are you really going to use
the word blossom? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Why you're reading that story about it not getting rebooted
and all the crying is.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Nothing my love fix for your babe? Whoa Uh? So
I know, I'm like, you know what, what's the world
that can happen? And so even when I was in
high school, like girls I was talking to for a
couple of weeks, okay, I gotta you know, Hey, she
thinks I'm funny. Look all the girls always thought I was.
That was the whole thing. Yes, they were all thought
I was funny. I wasn't tall enough for a lot
(06:15):
of them. And that was the thing that is a
problem though, That was the thing really is Yeah, stick
When I was five five five six, yeah, I wasn't
tall enough. And I'm like okay, that's fine. And also
in you know, in high school, in the early parts
of college, depending you know, girls like, well, yeah, you're
funny and you're cool and you're but I like this
guy because boy he's like six two and he's built
(06:36):
and he plays football. I'm like, well, I I can't
compete with that, right, But you never know, shoot your shot.
You never know unless you shoot your shots. And then
what Then I'm on the radio and Syracuse and all
of a sudden, sus the.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Music I'm walking around.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
But I always and there were times I so crash
and burn and and I was like, okay, and I
was upset for but I had I had a very
NBA like mentality. I'm looking, I had a beer, and
I took a shower and I was done. I read,
I'm read ready ready for the next game, right, And
And I don't know why people always get so caught
(07:15):
up in that. And I'm not gonna do it. I'm
not gonna embarrass. You don't have to go up and
just pretend you're you know, like you're Cliff Claven. You can't,
but you go up, shoot your shot. If she says no,
she says no, Okay, Okay, if Taylor Swift said no
to Travis Kelcey, would would we talk about any of that? Oh,
you tried to shoot it? Would that be the be No,
(07:35):
that'd be something that we would forget about. Yeah, you
shot a shot with with with Taylor Swift, it didn't
work out. Okay, shoot your shot, shoot your shot, go
for it. The worst she could say is no, the
thing is and the thing is right. My My my
percentage was probably I was probably at a Tony Gwynn percentage.
I was probably the greatest hitters of all time.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
But that's like three out of every ten strike.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
But I would say like maybe three at tipt it away.
You can't put yourself in the same sentence. Yeah, I was.
I was a Tony gwyn I mean, you guys common
three three, you know, that's it. He can hit a
lot it there. I was also a better hitter and
softball than he was in baseball. But that's a story
for another day. That's a story another day. But like, no,
(08:22):
probably three three and a half out of to I
would say out of that, like did I did she
say yes to a date? Or did I get her
phone numbers? Yeah? But I mean seven times it was like, oh,
you know, I'm just coming out of her like yeah,
all good, all good, all good. I didn't care, right,
but you shoot your shot and the thing is shot
my shot with Pam, And here we are, thirty years later,
Knockwood together. She when I shot my shot with Pam. Okay.
(08:45):
She had a boyfriend for nine years, nine nine years downwards,
recovered nine years. No, no, No, he moved away, he
got married, he got kid. Yeah, they should have never
been together because they they were like together with the.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
No.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
They were together through high school and into college, and
they broke up a lot, got back together, broke up,
got back together. It was like it was okay, one
of those relationships where we're together, but really, is it
really gonna go that far?
Speaker 3 (09:15):
There a lot of songs that could have been written
about She moved.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
She moved away from home. She moved she lived in Michigan,
got the job at the ESPN and that's where she
met me. But like she moved away, Like she moved away.
So that was like the big sign that, yeah, here's
the relayship. They've been together for a long time. I'm
moving because I'm I'm going to get a job someplace
and he didn't move with her. I'm like, okay, that
should tell you everything you need to know. But still,
you know, the kid had to come through and say, hey, listen,
drop the zero, get with the hero and I actually no,
(09:41):
I didn't say that. That was actually been a little iceline, Jason.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
I think the numbers are a little misleading, though. Why
is that because you could have been batting higher than
Tony Gwen. We just don't know, you know why, why
we don't know how many girls your grandpa took out.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, wow.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
That Harper was on the way.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Papa was doing it. I would say, I would say,
my grandfather not giving me messages when I was in
high school. Probably you guys can do them mat Probably
at least two maybe three girls that were like you
never called me? What do mean? Never called me? I
called you? When the other night I told your grandfather pop,
I was so mad. It would be I would just see,
(10:21):
I would get.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
So mad to next level stuff. But it's like anything, right,
you want the next assignment at work, raise your hand.
They may tell you're too green, that it doesn't fit
a schedule, that they've got other expectations. Uh, you're not there.
Yet whatever, you at least get some level of information. Right,
you and I both going through the kids, looking at
colleges and whatever.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
You have no idea.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
You gotta put your tape out there, You gotta put
your resume out there and see what goes. Take the
tests and send those scores along. It all plays the
same in this particular case, right, CHRISA. Thompson and Aaron
Andrews probably seated at table number two because they helped
it happen off of their podcast. And if you're gonna
go to a big concert, here's what you need to
(11:02):
do by yourself. Some damn beads, make yourself some friends,
friendship bracelets.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
With your phone number.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Yeah, okay, and then that's part of your part of
your plan.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Yeah, I mean, look, it's a it's a it's I
get where I get where where you could feel a
little weird about. Is she gonna say yes? Or for
the other ways, is he gonna say yes? If if
you know whatever it was, but it's it's it's never.
You build it up in your mind way more than
that than you think.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Right, Yeah, I mean, and no matter how bad a
streak you're going, you can always go back to what
Mark Grace had going. You know, look all those years. Yeah,
look Tony, Tony Gwynn is not going up to back going.
Oh it's Greg Maddox. I'm gonna sit on the bed.
I'm sick today, I'm not gonna play.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
No.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
He went up there and tried to hit off a
and he did pretty well, right, And so it's like,
that's it. Sometimes you're gonna sometimes it's gonna be madic.
Sometimes it's gonna be Randy Johnson all right. Sometimes you
have no idea. Sometimes it's gonna be the Rockies pitching staff.
It does something you know, you know, no, sometimes oh man,
(12:07):
Ryan Helsley, but that But that's the thing is that,
you know, hey, understand, Tony Gwynn knew I'm gonna succeed
three and a half times out of ten. I'm like, okay,
if I'm the Tony gwyn of that, yeah, sure, I'm
good man, I'm good it three and a half times
out of ten. And if not, I don't want to
be sit there and go, oh man, if all I
should have all I met, I should have no shoot
your shot, man, do it. There's not there. You build
(12:27):
it all up, and the thing is once you do
it a couple of times, and if it doesn't work,
it doesn't work. It works, doesn't matter, but it does
a couple of times. You're used to it. You're like, yeah,
what do I care? Yeah, okay, if she says no,
she says no, Okay, No, I'm not done. Now, you
gotta have a plan, you got you gotta have game, right,
you can't just walk up. I've been watching you from
across the dance floor and I think you're really pretty
(12:48):
and would you like it? Gin and Tonic like, you
gotta have some kind of game. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
We had a guy in college that he used to
go up and try to compliment hair. That usually did
not end well. Yeah, he got really kind of weird
about it.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yeah. So yeah, you know, figure out, go do some research.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Maybe this will be a podcast from future future reference
Shooting your Shot with the Kid.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Oh that's a good podcast. I like that, Shooting your
Shot with the Kid. Hey, you want to do with
some advice on how to shoot down sunny like Jerry,
I'll how to shoot your shot.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
I'm Jim Now, I haven't been in the game for
thirty plus years. I called book hop on pop. I
shot shot my shot with Michah Parsons. He still is
not in playing football with us, so oh well, we'll
get back to the drawing board on that. So I
started talking to his mind, which he did.
Speaker 1 (13:36):

(16:00):
is cut down day in the NFL, and we're gonna
do something special in a couple of minutes, right, We're
gonna We're about positivity.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
We have something really cool coming up in a couple
of minutes.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
But when when you see that the biggest cut today
was Tommy DeVito, you understand that all right? Well, you know,
the the preseason, what we saw not so much about
jobs and vets getting cut like Tommy DeVito. Tommy Cutlet's
getting cut is the biggest story of the day. There's
a lot of memes if you miss if you missed
(16:32):
everything to go to, Oh my god, who got cut?
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Who?
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Tommy DeVito? Who else? Yeah, a couple of guys, but
Tommy DeVito, a couple of guys who.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Once upon a time work Fantasy relevant or stars for
your individual NFL team. But that was the only guy
that really was a cross cross the league, league wide
kind of story.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Right.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
We had him on a couple of evening games, to
have some fun with it.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
But yeah, yeah, I mean, look like for me personally,
for me, Malachi Corley got cut, and we'll always have
last Halloween when he was, you know, the third round
pick by the Jets last year and he comes in
and Corley's a guy that got the ball first time
he touched it and was running eighteen yards on a
reverse for a touchdown, and he dropped the ball before
he went over the goal line because he wanted to
(17:17):
do that crazy ass celebration where I'm gonna drop the football,
except he dropped it too early. It's a touchback and
we lost a touchdown. And really that's Malachi Corley's legacy
to the NFL. So we'll always have that Halloween. But
outside of that, like, everybody's got their rope bit. But
it's not like, oh, look at this huge cut like
Deontay Johnson like four years ago, that would have been
big news, right, So it's not unbelievable. It's well, everybody's
(17:38):
got your your your local stuff. But I mean, honestly,
Tommy Cutlet's getting cut. It's like wow, And I got
to give him a lot if and it's not the
end of the line for Tommy Cutlet's right, it's not
because he's gonna get picked up because he is shown. Yeah,
he could watch the Jets get him because Tommy DeVito
has shown that, hey, when you throw him in, he
can run an NFL franchise and he can play somewhat well,
(18:01):
like he'll be a well sought after backup. However, the
Giants were caught in a big time numbers game, right,
they weren't going in with four quarterbacks, right, and you
know it's gonna be Wilson, and then it's gonna be
Dart and then Jameis Winston because that really doesn't make
any sense, but whatever, So you know, okay, so they
cut Tommy DeVito, so I get it, you know, but
he'll land somewhere as a backup. But it's stunning to
me that how much attention he got, mainly because his
(18:26):
nickname became Tommy Cutlet. It's likely he had like a
couple of weeks where things were amazing and oh look
at what he did coming off the bench. But it's like,
you know, he had like a Mike White couple of
weeks or a Gardner mitche Now all of a sudden,
Tommy DeVito is Tommy Cutlets. And I say that because
really he's the new Gardner Minshew. Right. We had Gardner
Minshew a few years ago, the backup quarterback with the
(18:46):
with the mustache and the jorts and all kinds of stuff,
and he was fun. He was living in a RV
and his family. At the Thursday night game when he played, well,
all this stuff is going on, You're like all right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
And now you're sitting here and saying, Okay, who's it.
Tommy Cutlets. He's the next Gardner Minshew. He's a fun,
colorful guy to have on your team. He leans into
(19:07):
the whole Tommy Cutlets thing. So yeah, it's amazing the
mileage that he has gotten out of a nickname. Well,
the quarterback position gives us so much depth and chaos,
no question about it. When we look at Yeah, I
remember Charlie Whitehurst all those years clipboard Jesus, and then
he passed on the look to Gardner Minshew. Yeah, as
(19:30):
well as the you know, it was like what's his
uh it was America's favorite interim head coach. Uh, trying
to get back in the game kind of thing. He
got in some trouble, but you know, he's trying to.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Trying to get himself back, A little bit him back,
and he's trying to talk back into the game.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
I paid my pennants. But all of that's say for Tommy.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
If you don't remember, we had the the extra story
of how he'd had a deal in place and then
his agent tried to uh strong arm the what was
it a pizza plays restaurant I had shown up and
the pictures.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Of what he looked like, looking like he like you
would actually expect the agent of Tommy Cutlers. Look all
the Steve Shirippau memes out today after the Giants cut
Tommy Cutlers. You cut Tommy Cutlets. This is what you did.
You cut Tommy Cutlets. I'm gonna come back and cut you.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Became every Sopranos reference you can get. It's some good
Fellas mixed there. I don't shine shoes no more. Now, Gorman,
get your shine box.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
I keep him here.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
But we had two quarterbacks that have ruled the entire
Cutdown series. I know Ben Denucci did a spot with
Dan Patrick, but he did his Hey, I got cut
from my seventh team. Beer at eight o'clock in the
morning or whatever it was at the airport. So those
are the two guys that have run and what do
we say every year it's sixty plus. Are guys gonna
start a game? So keep your arm in shape, go
(20:54):
into the bubble wrap and just wait for the phone
to ring. He's the new gardner, minshew, right, Like you're
gonna be able to sell off him, right, So if
you just need a guy that's in the room, because
it's not like one of those situations where it becomes
loud noises of hey we need to see Tommy DeVito play.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
No, it's just his presence there. I mean really, he's colorful,
he's fun. He can get the job done to a
limited extent, Like he can get the job done. He's colorful,
he's fun. He can get the job done. Is that
too much to put on a on a sandwich board?
Can we do that? That's dead?
Speaker 6 (21:29):
One?
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Ain't seven seven cars for kids? K He colorful, he's fun.
He can get the job done to an extent, Like
to an extent.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
To be on a billboard before long, make sure you
copyright that.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I would call his a and say, hey, I'm on
a landline. Let me tell you I like your client.
He's fun and get the job done to one extent.
I'm not gonna trust them all the way cause you
know I didn't see it. But for a little bit
to come in and do some stuff for us, do
that thing for me, I'll do that. He never talked.
Not that first thing we do, sing, Not that first thing.
Do that second thing. You do that second thing for me.
We're okay, not that for the first thing. Well we're
(22:04):
gonna put a pin in that. We're not gonna do
that yet, right, But second thing, we're gonna do it. Okay,
we got him in, We got him good. We got
a deal. I'll fax it over to you, right, and
none of this stuff where like, hey, you know he's
gonna come in. We had a deal and then suddenly
the owner says, oh there's no deal, and you're not
talking to me. You'll talk to me, Okay, you talk
to me. You want Tommy Cutlets on your team. That's
how it goes, man, Tommy Cutlets he is. But that's it.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
The rest of the names, all right, guys that'll hook
on somewhere else. Maybe they'll be lightning and catch lightning
in a bottle right with the third receiver or something.
But yeah, Tommy DeVito. That was the name of the day,
which is really kind of scary to think. Yeah, right,
for as much as we put and look, for all
the guys that their NFL careers ended today, thanks for
(22:50):
playing for us. And I mean that with all sincerity.
I mean it's it's it's a tough business, a thankless
business at times. Right, you have a short run and
we certainly have seen the the graph for all the
three year averages. Yeah, there's a lot of guys at
the tail end over there, right, they get a couple
of snaps in a preseason game and that's the end
(23:11):
of it. And for a couple of hundred guys, this
this was it, right, this was they got the call today.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
So there it is. Is the biggest name is my guy.
He's out there. You want cutlet you call me right now.
Let's be positive.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Bring up that picture of that greasy guy. He almost
looks like that guy that Frostburg always says.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
That's got the Lakers today.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
By the way, and didn't know the story, maybe some
people didn't. You would have thought Tommy DeVito was engaged
to Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Yeah, yeah, I mean really it was. It was. It
was something that maybe we should just throw that out there. No, No,
that's what I should have told Zoe when she said, yet, yeah,
I know that she broke up with him and now
she's with uh uh, Tommy DeVito, Tommy Cutler, you know
Tommy Cutler, you know Tommy Cullins. That's like, what was
that story? I remember the story when what was it?
Julia Roberts was dating Key for Sutherland and they were
gonna get married and everything was great, and then one
(23:59):
day woke up stories they broke up and she went
on vacation with Jason Patrick, who was, you know, one
of his best friends. They did Lost Boys together, which
really gives you a new, new new found way to
look at the movie Lost Boys. Wow. So they were
rivals there and apparently they were friends and then they
were not between.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Lost Boys and Flatliners and all, I mean, he got
a lot of chaos going.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Yeah, that's fun, man, I'll tell you it's fun. So
now to be positive here on cutdown day, right, let's
have some positivity. Let's have an appreciation moment because we
need to the end because today with the fifty three roster,
the fifty three man lotters being said, no, obviously things
are gonna change the next couple of days, and some
guys who got cut could get brought back because obviously
there's contract situations, there's length of services where some teams
(24:41):
are saying, hey, we want to keep this guy, but
he's not gonna pass through waivers.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Hang out.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
We're gonna let you go, but hang out. You're starting
for us week one. We'll bring you back in the day.
But today's cutdown day, right, which is the end of
the preseason, right, everybody starting their Week one ramp up now,
So we have to have our end of NFL pre
appreciation moment. Okay, sure for the three people that got
us through the last two and a half months, because
(25:07):
there were three people ahead of everybody else that got
us through football wise, right, that got us through the
last two and a half months is now, because now
the footballs are gonna fly for real world into everything happening.
You know, in preseason, starters don't play that often. You
gotta worry about intersquad scrimmages and seven on sevens. But
(25:29):
there's three stories that got us through the last two
and a half months. This is the matter. Stand in
order at number coming in at number three, coming in
at number three. Thank you, Caleb Williams. Thank you for
throwing a ball at a camera, missing a net, and
generally causing all sorts of intense amounts of anxiety in
(25:50):
Chicago and throughout the NFL by a subpar preseason that
sometimes turned a little bit good. I want to give
a little honorable mention to Tyson Agent, because without him
playing really well, we might not have this. But Caleb
Williams number three, his storyline the last two and a
half months got us through here all the way to
the fall. Caleb Williams number three on the medals, an
(26:12):
awful lot of hot air and depending on the day.
I mean it was one of those lick your finger
and see which way the wind was blowing.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah he was great. He wasn't good,
but Tyson Pagent was and that guy was fantastic. And
then he cried when they gave him that money.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Did you look that?
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Come on, that's America, like Tommy Cutlet's when he got shot.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
That's it. It's America. Tommy Cutletz gave us three minutes today, right,
that's Tommy Cutler. I mean, Caleb Williams was It wasn't
at once a week story at least for the last
two and a half months, right, once a week story.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
That look and even today like if you want it
to you can go deep down and roma doonsay talking
about him is like, well, it comes with being the
number one pick and he is who he is, and
there's people that don't Oh yeah, yeah, forget about being
the quarterback, right you're the quarterback in Chicago. That comes
with a lot uh and certainly a lot of history.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Bad number two. Yeah, thank you. This person gave us
much and really it was in conjunction with someone else,
but this but because of this person, we got what
we got. Yep uh, thank you Number two to Micah Parsons.
Micah Parsons gave us a couple times a week story
at least now Jerry Jones obviously feeding into it, but
(27:33):
Michah Parsons putting out the statement that I no longer
want to be here, Okay, that turned it into a
story the Jerry Jones every day stuff. Yeah blah blah blah.
Micah Parsons stepped up and said, hey, there's a void
here in the NFL preseason with people to talk about
in contracts and people don't care about Terry McLaurin and
Trey Hendrickson as much, but we're the Cowboys, Micah Parsons.
This has been an every couple of day thing, and
(27:55):
it's ramped up over the course of the past couple
of weeks. Now we're getting now, we're seeing as even
gonna play a week one. Brian Schottenneimer said today he
needs some time to get going. So thank you to
Micah Parsons because it clearly him and the Cowboys. Look
give again Jerry Jones honorable mention for this because he
you know, he was a willing partner in here. You know,
(28:15):
there's no great hero without a great villain, so it's
like the Avengers. So thank you to Michah Parsons number
two on the mouse Silver Medal for getting us through
the last two and a half months. Thank you Michael Parsons.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Thank you Michah Parsons for saying I got no strings
on me.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
You always go back to the worst Avengers movie, you
always go.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Back, but that was funniest one that gave you a
left left.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
There's a reason there's a reason why James Spader was
spending the last decade and a half on network television
then you know, yeah, but if you still man, you're
on network TV, it's like, wow, that's a step below
cable like right, I.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Mean he was just the voice. But I mean, look,
it was one for the little guys because Josh Brolin
got his.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Short Sure, sure, the guys who were five to five, Yes, exactly, yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Gotta shoot up. But yeah for Jerry Jones, like Michaeh.
Parsons though, giving us that missive taking that meeting all
those months ago when you knew he shouldn't have walked
in like you would have been the old man on
the on the porch and your bib overall's going, don't
do it, yeh, don't take that meeting. But he gave
us content from So thank you, Thank you Michaeh. Parsons
for ignoring the advice of your agent all cowboys for
(29:28):
the last how long since forty years?
Speaker 5 (29:30):
Right?
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Forty years? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (29:32):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (29:33):
And going down the four sports talk radio became a
five day week thing when it was only a weekend thing.
So you gave us gold. You see, you see what
Tom Landry did the other day. I can't believe it.
He looked right at the.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
He also let us play one of the great games
of all time because we had the Jerry Jones clip
about Michael Parsons. Agents tell oh, sure to stick it Yeah, yeah.
I talked to the agent and uh the offer. He
told us we could stick it up all right? Oh Mary,
where are you on that? You're supposed to be right
there with the bleep on the agent stick it up.
You're supposed to be right there.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Now. Here's the best part about number one is no
one's wondering who number one is because that's how big
a story this person has been every single day. Little
late Mary, the agent called and said we had to
stick it up all right because it has been an
everyday story for the last two It at really all
(30:28):
the way back to the draft. This person has been
an everyday story. Officially named the number three quarterback for
the Cleveland Browns today, Thank you to Schadeur Sanders for
helping us and leading the way. He's the one in
the in the zombie movie. He's got the lamp saying
follow me, follow me to freedom, and we're going. It's
(30:50):
our Charlie Steiner on the ESPN commercial. But he's the
one follow me to freedom and we all followed. Shador
Sanders and he got us through the last couple of
months when he's got the tire on his head. That
was good. I love that one.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Good, But no for Shador Sanders, Kevin Stefanski, Andrew Berry,
Jimmy Haslim, that's his pick all of that. Yeah, it
was a great theater and he and then it really
kind of played out exactly as we thought it would. Hey,
Kenny pick a gut traded. Yeah, yeah, Chador is number
three on the depth chart.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
He'll play in and eventually we'll watch it play out
because they're not gonna be good. No, no, no, They'll
all three of them will play. Now, the order is
gonna change. He'll still have five quarterbacks at some point
because you know they're not gonna gonna go with just
these three. Come on, it's the Browns.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
The minute someone looks like they're winning games will go
to somebody else because they want arch manning.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
But I mean that's I mean, that's really got it
and I and I don't. I don't think that's even debatable.
That metal that metal stand. Chador is the gold medalist,
Micah is the silver medalist. Caleb gets the bronze.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Like we've joked about it, all all off season. I mean,
what do we talk about?
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Six teams?
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Seven teams? The rest of the league got to go work.
We talked about cam Ward about two weeks ago, just
for the fact. Hey, you know what, we haven't been
talking about cam Ward. Let's just talk about cam Ward
because right let's check in on him. Got a little
bit with Jacksonville with Travis Hunter, but that's been really quiet.
Like you said, the Bengals and the and the Commanders.
(32:24):
A little bit of noise there, just based on some contracts.
We want to get traded.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
No, you don't. You want to get paid. So here
we are, Exit Abya Fresca, Exit Swallen Dome, the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. We got
more coming up in ninety seconds. But first let's find
out what's trending with Chris Purfett. Chris, what do you
got for us? Besides the Mets walk off against the Phillies.
Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift have announced their engagement. Oh
that is that? Okay, that's really the only news. That's it.
(32:51):
You're done?
Speaker 8 (32:52):
No, No, We've got plenty more to go through. Dylan
Gabriel is being named the number two Browns quarterback by
coach Kevin seven Stefanski. Shudr sanders Can dresses as the
emergent see third quarterback. Giants are waving fan favorite Tommy
DeVito and I cannot believe you are slagging on him.
That is my people right there. He introduced us to
chicken vodka parm cutlets.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I think people heard of cutlets before that.
Speaker 8 (33:13):
Cutlet's plenty. I just never thought about putting vodka sauce
on them too.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Oh yeah, vodkas. I've upset. I didn't discover vodka sauce.
I was in my thirties. I was like, Wow, this
is fantastic. It's amazing. It's a basic. It's the best
sauce out there. The Seahawks are releasing veteran wide receiver
Marquez Valdez Scantling, this in spite of still owing him
three million guaranteed back from his contract in March. Not
all not all unhappy stories. Preseason star for the Dallas Cowboys,
James Houston is making the fifty three man roster. Expect
(33:39):
him to pick up some work on pass rushing with
Micah Parsons contracts still up in the air. US Open
Yennick Center defeats vict Coprava in three sets. Coco Goffs
advanced on three sets. Namo Osaka dispatches greet men in
on straight sets. Al Cy Young hopeful Nathan Evaldi's twenty
twenty five season is done. He was diagnosed with the
rotator cuff strain, being shut down by the Rangers. That
(34:02):
Baseball score scoreboard, Yes, the Mets did walk off. Meanwhile,
going on right now, the Dodgers and Reds tied one
run apiece bottom of the second, ending the Athletics with
an early three to zero lead. Top of the third
against the Tigers, Giants and Cubs, top of the fourth,
one run lead for the Giants.
Speaker 8 (34:19):
Guys, follow me back to you very I love that
all those old welcome to sports commercials.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
And in the background when everybody is running, and that's
really what that's always looked like. They didn't they didn't know,
they didn't shoot a commercial that they just said, hey,
stand in the middle of the hallway, like five minutes
before the eleven o'clock Sports Center goes off real quick.
Speaker 8 (34:40):
Do I want to I want to ask you, do
you buy into the opinion that like there's a conspiracy
theory about that this is Sports Center thing because Mark
McGuire's in there beating the hell out of the phones
with a baseball bat, and everyone's like, oh, yeah, they
knew about this is roid rage. They knew about him juicing.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Yeah. I don't think they were waiting for this. The
Sports Center had to throw it out there. Appreciate it, Chris,
nice job. Coming up next, got the play of the
day and your NFL Trade Rumor of the day.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Welcome back in Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with
Me Mike Harmon. On a beautiful Tuesday night, watching some
Major League baseball. It is Kershaw Day, It's cutdown day,
and it's a day for love and a day to
reminds you shoot your shot out there.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
You congratulations. Tommy DeVito engaged to Taylor Swift.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
Oh sorry, might have to get bleeped for that.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Hey, Brandon Nimo engaged a Taylor Swift after that walk off.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
By the way, I just want to say, you know,
like you doing all your fist pumping and all your
excitement off that Brandon marsh should be running laps. That
was the most half assed effort on a bloop down
the left field line.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
Hover the shit.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Yeah he dogged it ended up being a bab basis
loaded instead of trying to get that out.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Yeah, my heart bleeds, and then they walk it up
in all aspects of life. Yeah, to do your job.
It's way too bad, slacker. Look at the Mets celebrating
Jonah Toong day is a time for a new job
that it's time for Express employment professionals. Quit the endless
online job search unless the pros and Express never charge's
job seekers a fee, go to expresspros dot com. That
(36:32):
is expresspros dot com.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
You know, if he'd shaved his beard, he would have
been more aerodynamic. He would have been able to cut
through the wind. I always say that. I always say
that long hair it's gonna slow you down that one
one hundredth of a second.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
I think Samson did alright, Uh no, didn't he drink wine?
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Yeah? Okay, yeah, but but then he got his hair
cut and look what happened to him was a bad move. Yeah,
that was a haircut. Didn't didn't work for it. No, no, no,
it doesn't. It doesn't make you faster drinking now, it
does not make you faster. We'll have that big NFL
trade roomor coming up in a minute. But time now
for the Play of the day. Brought to you buy
tire Rack. For over forty years, tire Rack's been up
(37:11):
and customers find the right tires for how, what and
where they drive, shipped fast and free, backed by free
road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation.
Tire rack dot Com is the way tire buying should be.
Well yes or no? Are we getting Brandon Nimmo's walk
off as the play of the day?
Speaker 9 (37:35):
Brandies straight times at City f take them the first
two games.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
In this series. There it iss TV on the call
Net's walk off and you know what, you know what, yeah, yeah,
you know what I mean. Love about this is that
the Phillies were feeling great. The NL East was basically
there as they could have come in and just you know,
thrown the hammer down. The Mets could have been ten
games out by the end of this thing, but they
lose last night and the Alec Bohm thing comes up
(38:13):
with oh, Hey, there was you know in my eye
line was the reflection off of a microphone that's been
there for eight years. Right, So now the Phillies, all
this Mets cheating stuff comes up and all this and
what happens after the Phillies announcers go after Alec Baum
That thing's been there for eight years.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
What the hell are we doing? That was the whole
postgame show, Phillys ripping him part.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
And the Phillies come out. You think you think media
is tough, like wow, like coming off of this where
you could easily say Mets cheating, Mets doing things at
city Field. No, this was the Phillies announcers and Phillies
uh inside going after their own guys. Man. And now
the Phillies have lost too in a row. Maybe the
NL east is still there for the Mets. Like nobody
puts the brakes on the good times faster than the Phillies, man,
(38:55):
they say, and they do it to themselves so many times.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
No, I was great though, I mean because there's no
rallying cry there that's let's not be soft. If that's
how they have to win games, so be it. We're
city of champions, brotherly love. But the other thing though,
I mean we got soft today. I mean is because
of the love thing? Is it because we feel bad
about cutdown Day? You actually got the clip you wanted.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Well, it's Jonah Tong day, tongue time, everybody tong time
by food for people, And I don't know. We'll do
food tomorrow. We'll do food tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
I was just curious, you know how you got over?
Speaker 5 (39:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:29):
No, when then met sweep the Phillies tomorrow? Well, we'll
do food tomorrow.
Speaker 10 (39:32):
Wait, wait, can you get the move it to Thursday?
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Oh you're not in tomorrow. See, but Frostburg's here tomorrow.
That's the thing in Frostburg's not here on Thursday. What
if we get food tomorrow and I save some food
for you, we do it Thursday, as Frostburg is eating
chips right now, You do it Thursday. It's all good. Thursday.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Fist going.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
I'm here tomorrow. I'm working tomorrow. You know, I want
to say really quick, I am glad. We have become
the envy of so many shows at Fox because we
we we buy food for we take care of everybody. Yeah.
I've had producers from other shows going, can I get
on your show? Because you buy food for people. You
and I say yeah, okay, I say, well, you know, listen,
we're families, got it. Yeah, But you know, it's what
(40:17):
it is.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
It's all about family now family.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Depending on who you want to believe, there either is
or isn't a trade on the table from Micah Parsons
to the packers. Right. There was a big account came
out today Ricky Scoops verified account fifty thousand followers said that, oh,
the Packers have a trade on the table with the
Cowboys from Micah Parsons new contract worth forty five million
(40:42):
dollars a year. Whether this is real or not is irrelevant.
It doesn't matter, right, It doesn't matter because somebody, and
this is why I've said Micah Parsons is going to
get traded. Jerry Jones said, I'm not negotiating anymore. Micah
Parsons obviously wants more money or he would have taken
the deal that Jerry Jones threw out there. The deal
(41:05):
for Micah Parsons is gonna blow away what you saw
for TJ. Watt or anybody else. So you think three years,
one hundred twenty million dollars, man, forget that you're talking
about a contract that's gonna begin with a two at
least from Micah Parsons. This is why he's getting traded
because Jerry Jones is not going to do that. And
eventually he's gonna realize we have to move on.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
He's got three years. Baby, gonna begin with the two
Drag it out. You gonna begin with the two drag
it out, Jerry. I want to see the chaos that
flows out of this. Yeah, it tells you when the
voice of reason has to has to be Darrell Reeves
calling out.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
We got more on this big stories in the NFL.
Next right here, Jason and Mike, you are listening to
Fox Sports Brandon Nemo Radio. Well, I think so, yeah,
it'd be healthy for your one forever. I thought they might.
I got a lot of friends that that, you know,
if I come up with a Kik bobblehead like you
don't never find a king I am if I get
(42:03):
a kick a bobblehead for them.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
See, today I went and I found my my bucket
of all the autographed Taylor Swift discs.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
That I have.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
No Okay, I was feeling pretty good today, Ary and
I yeah, and then I think about the ones that
my kids gave away, and I said, yeah, that friend
wasn't worth that. You never know, you know what did
I read?
Speaker 1 (42:22):
The other day? Sean Aston was doing an interview and
they asked him about some stuff from you know, with
all the movies he ever did in his life, and
he said anything you wish you had? He goes, yeah,
all the stuff from Goonies, like he had the map. Apparently,
he goes, and you know that map right now, what's
that worth? A couple hundred thousand dollars? Somebody would buy
for the map from Goonies? But I had it at
home and I'm pretty sure my mom threw it out. Well,
(42:45):
it's funny.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Well one of the things that we, you know, reference
all the time, right, the flashy thing you know from
Men in Black, the neuralives. Yeah, there's actually one up
for auction coming up here.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Does it work?
Speaker 3 (42:58):
If it works, I'll buy it. I mean, if that works,
I'll buy it.
Speaker 5 (43:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
The estimate is that it could go for as much
as one hundred and fifty K.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
I'll use it on myself to forget all the Jets
seasons for the last fourteen years. That would be pretty sweet. Boy.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
I go, I go, right, from the AFC Championship game
against the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
In twenty two.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
I don't I don't think it has a dial that
you put in beginning an end dates, like you're doing
a search for transaction history of whether you paid out
on a bill or something.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Here's how long, here's how long it is? Right for Like, look,
the Jets postseason drought is the longest in North American sports.
Right now, it's fourteen years, And I'm like, wow, I
remember the other day when I saw something on Facebook
when it had one of those longest postseason drafts all
to the Jets at the top. And I'm like, man,
I've been saying ten a decade without the playoffs for
(43:46):
the longest time. That now it's fourteen years. Yeah, right,
like when it done? How old is your dog? By dogs?
Speaker 5 (43:50):
Two?
Speaker 1 (43:51):
By dogs too? You keep tipping all your dogs to
your dogs. Meanwhile, no, the dog is five.
Speaker 6 (43:54):
Now.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
I've been telling people it's two for like three years,
but now like, yeah, okay, now it's fourteen years no
playoffs and likely no playoffs this year, right, so it's
gonna be fifteen years. Forget about all my forties. Now
I'm getting almost close to the middle of my fifties.
I'm still not have a playoff game.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
Oh it's better than after a kid's got a first
birthday and you're still counting months. Yeah he's eighteen months,
he's a year and a half. Yeah, he's seventy six months,
he's one hundred and forty two months. He's two hundred
and seventy six months now, and things are going really
still going.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (44:22):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
Now he's reading at him forty seven.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
From shoot your shot, Taylor Swift Travis kelcey to the
biggest lesson or the biggest thing to learn from this
outside of what we said last at which was, hey,
shoot your shot because you never know. Right now, First
of all, I think sports talk are we the only
ones that sometimes call it the Travis Kelsey Taylor Swift engagement?
Everybody else? Isn't it the Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey engagement?
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (44:51):
But sports, like the world sports is, aren't Travis Kelsey's
our guys? So he said he his name first, Yeah, yeah,
Travis Kelsey, Taylor Swift. No, you say Taylor Swift. He's
a hall of famer, Yeah, yeah he is. Okay, well
he's a hall of Famer in shooting a shot. He
will be a Hall of Famer in the Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:08):
So we we give him the respect he deserves. You
guys got a disrespect. The picture of the groomsmen were
released earlier.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Yes, I saw all four referees, including Carl Cheffer's all
of them. Uh, okay, hall of famer. Travis Kelsey more
impressive his career, or that he's gonna marry Taylor Swift
more impressive. One of the best tight end careers in
the history of the game.
Speaker 3 (45:34):
Last year relative to all other tight ends. But for him,
but really, you know not, No, it's it's the Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Yeah, it trumps at all.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
Yeah, yeah, I agree with it's a global events.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
We've seen great tight end. We've not seen someone Mary
Taylor Swift. It's right, the biggest, the biggest star.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
There's a lot of people that are mad, like thirty
something year old women like there's a whole support group
for each other. Now that's starting to prop up, going.
You know, we've.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
So you think it turns on on Travis Kelsey. Oh,
now she's marrying Travis and now things are gonna.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
Be or people are saying, okay, now you know.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
Her songs are no good I don't know about being
the gym teacher and the English teacher.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
I don't know what I getting in this album. If
it's all happy and there's no hate messages, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's a flop. It's going back to singing about Tim McGraw.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
It's a flop. It's too happy. There's no drama. Next,
give me something new.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
It's and eighty degrees from where you've been.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
Now. Look, this is something that when this happened today,
this is kind of the the final feather in the
cap of something that stars across the country. Right, no
matter what you're a star in football, baseball, basketball, your
recording star, you're a television star, your movie star, your
YouTube's or whatever it is, is that all the way
(46:53):
down look at where.
Speaker 3 (46:53):
We are YouTube star, whether you're Jake Paul or not
on YouTube.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
But just when you think about the biggest stars in
the world. But I always say one thing about this.
You talk about celebrities, Yes, do they have a great life. Yes,
it's awesome. They have a life, they're rich, they have
they have everything that you you know that you would want,
but you know that you don't have. But the one
thing that they do not have is they have zero privacy.
They have zero ability to go to a store to
(47:18):
buy peanuts. They have zero ability to go to the movies.
They have zerobility to go to the car shop to
pick up their car. They have zero ability to have
freedom of where I can just go and and do
what I ever want to. Because if you're famous, people
know who you are in a store any but right
away they know they find you. I'm being in a
Target three years ago and Trevor Ariza was in there,
(47:40):
and I walked back past the men's and there was
already people on the phone. Do Trevor Reza's here, Trevor
Ariza's here. I'm like, oh my god, dude, this is
Trevor and not Trevor Resa. Target like Trevor like that.
That's the one thing that I really do get that
that celebrities have such a difficulty with that I feel
bad for because they have no privates. Why, Hey, well,
you have to live on in your on your own state,
(48:00):
because you can't really go out. You have to only
be friends with people who are other stars because people
want stuff from you. They all want to get you. Hey,
here's a script I wrote her, Or can you get
me in your next movie, But those people are still
getting in the building. The thing that gets me is
that in this world where we know everything about everyone,
(48:20):
for Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift, there have been in
the entire timeline of their relationship, which goes back to
when they first started dating went Oh, by the way,
they had kind of started dating before she went to
his football game. Right when she went to the we thought, oh,
this is them meeting for the f No, they'd been
on dates right ye. The fact that they've been able
to be such a public couple yet keep everything about
(48:44):
their relationship private and only let us know what they
want us to know, that is an incredible achievement. This
is what every star on the planet would want. I
want the ability to be able to be public, to
have my public profile, and to only have out there
what I want out there. No videos that get put
(49:06):
out there that are embarrassing, no stories that get leaked.
Everybody I trust keep stuff quiet. And the biggest thing
in this apparently they got engaged two weeks ago and
it's now they're finding out now. They put the pictures
out now, which is when you find out about relationships.
They got engaged two weeks ago. Nobody leaked it. Nobody knew.
This doesn't happen in the world of entertainment, in the
(49:28):
world of celebrities, does not happen. Yet, every single Taylor
Swift Travis Kelcey news item that's come out has come
out controlled by them. It's either Travis Kelcey on the podcast.
It's a very public moment that they have even after
the Super Bowl, right when they won two years ago,
and the cameras are right in Travis Kelcey and Taylor
Swift's face and they're talking to each other, and they're
(49:48):
looking into each other's eyes, and they're saying things to
each other like you knew that stuff was rehearsed. Nobody
Neither of them is saying, I love you, I love
you this it's oh my goodness, I'm so proud of you.
Oh I'm so happy if you They both knew how
to talk in that when they're celebrating the Super Bowl,
which is like all of eight minutes old, Like that
is something that I can't get over. How they've been
able to control the entirety of their relationship from the
(50:10):
beginning all the way to their engagement. Yeah, the trust.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
I mean, the curiosity would be I'd love the behind
the scenes of what the off season was, Right, were
you abroad or you just hunkered down somewhere right in
terms of you know, being able to escape the wandering
eye of the paparazzo. Right, they're on your tail and
they recognize how lucrative it is. So you know, were
(50:33):
you did. You have to be holed up. Because we've
certainly talked to folks to your point about Trevor Reason
trying to do a target run of trying to go
to the movies and having to build what became in
vogue many years ago across the NFL were guys putting
in those mini theaters in their houses and then they'd
rotate and you'd have a catering service come in and
(50:54):
you'd take care of it because you couldn't go out.
And you'd say, well, that doesn't make any sense, or
yeah there's six seven and in a an NFL city
they're going to be seen. We see it with college
athletes all the time, right, So yeah, it's it's an
impressive impressive thing to keep all of these details down.
I mean, you can obfuscate things and misdirect folks by
(51:16):
releasing an album and then re releasing that album two
days later with a different cover and different colored vinyl,
and then doing it again two days later.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
She's she's like the master of all of that. She's
gotten into my pocket and way too many times in
the last two to three weeks. But all of that
to say, I mean that means you've got a very good,
tight knit circle. And I gotta imagine that before these pictures,
it probably was a group text that went out about
three minutes prior, and anybody that wasn't part of I
(51:49):
don't know, a fifteen to twenty person circle you suddenly
found out, I mean everybody. The one thing that gets
out of control for celebrities is being unable to control
the message. Sure, and that's something that happens. There's a
picture gets out, I say something on social media and
it gets construed another way, whatever it is. Look at
(52:10):
the look at this crazy ass Sidney Sweeney thing that's
gone on the last couple of weeks, right, Like, how
stupid is that? But this shows you that in this
world that's impossible that but they've been able to control
for two and a half years. They have controlled the message.
If I'm Brad Pitt or Angelina, Joe Lee or Jenniferan.
I go, how did you do it? Who are you taught?
Are you hiring? Who are the people you have hired?
Who are the people you have working with you? How
(52:32):
have you done this that there's been no leaks and
no drama. Look what they did to poor affleck All
the guy I wanted was a cup of coffee, looked
a little sad, looked a little tired. Bam exit out
about a Fresca exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Carmen. I'm telling you that's
something to really be envious about, whether you love or
(52:53):
hate them. They can control that message unlike anybody I've
ever seen. She'd be nowhere without Travis. Uh yeah, no,
probably right. We have a recording career. She'd be putting
out the best of albums to satisfy a contract.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Here's another live album. Here's a live album, Taylor Comes
Alive three.

of that with Joe Flacco, because you know what, the
Bengals defense gonna stay, but you know what, I'm gonna
go even deeper. We're gonna go with two a tongue

Travis Kelsey Taylor Swift are engaged. The Browns have their
quarterback depth chart. It's cutdown day. Tommy Cutletz is out
of a gig. Nobody better to discuss this and more
than our next guest. He is a Pro Football Hall
(56:07):
of Very Good voter. He has a long time NFL insider.
You can check him out on the thirty third team.
He is on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. It
is the aforementioned j Cole. J Cole, Where were you
when you learned that Travis and Taylor were engaged?
Speaker 11 (56:23):
I was sitting at the kitchen table and I started
to cheer up. It was, Yeah, this is the day
I've been waiting for.
Speaker 5 (56:34):
Did you is this and the new album's coming out.
Uh huh, I just you know the season's about to start,
like it just how does it get any better than this?
When you have this combo I thing is happening, It's
like it's like it's it's it's a golden triangle, let's
put it that way.
Speaker 1 (56:54):
So you got a phone call from Jim Porter, the
guy that runs the Pro Football Hall of Fame, to
tell you that right like that was was that him saying,
put Travis Kelcey in on the first ballot when he's
when he's up in seven years?
Speaker 5 (57:04):
Actually, actually he texted me right away.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Okay, good?
Speaker 5 (57:11):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (57:12):
Could you put Travis Kelcey in the Hall of Fame.
Let's say he had a Jeremy Rutgert type career, right,
Let's say he had.
Speaker 5 (57:21):
That, could Jeremy have you said Jeremy Renner?
Speaker 1 (57:25):
No, no, no, Jeremy Ruckert. Guy, let's get ready. He was Hawkeye,
the worst of the Avengers. Hey, hey, I'm a bow
an hour away from being Hawkeye. If he had just
an okay, average NFL career, could you put him in
the Hall of Fame strictly from marrying Taylor Swift?
Speaker 5 (57:41):
Oh? Absolutely, okay, yeah, that's entertainment value and even and
even more impressive if he was just a guy. Well,
if he's just a jag, isn't isn't it more impressive
that he got the girl than if he's, you know,
a superstar. Like the superstar thing overcomes so much and
(58:04):
it puts him almost on all my ship, not even clothes,
but sort of on the same level as.
Speaker 1 (58:13):
Yeah, and the bust could be him with that bucket
hat and her, like both of them would be on
the bust, would be both of their heads on the bust.
Speaker 5 (58:21):
No, just hers.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
Okay, a more importantly though, over under seven.
Speaker 5 (58:31):
She's gonna she's going in the Hall of Fame as
a fan, and we're gonna have one of those. The
bust will be of her standing in this in the
luxury suite with everybody else.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Oh so she goes in instead of one of those
costume guys this year.
Speaker 5 (58:45):
Okay, yeah, good, the costume guys, the costume guys, and they're.
Speaker 1 (58:49):
Gonna be pissed. Wow does she get in over Darth Rader?
I mean, you gotta put Darth Rader in first, don't you?
Speaker 5 (58:57):
And you're you guys got so much, so much Jennifer
I can't understand what that question was. What was it again?
Speaker 1 (59:02):
I said, don't you have to put Darth Raider in
first ahead of Taylor Swift?
Speaker 5 (59:08):
That's great, Yeah, that's so great. Taylor, Taylor and Darth Rader.
They should go in together because you can rhyme them.
That would be the best way because since the since
their rivals, it adds to the fan head. Right, you
(59:29):
got the Raiders Chiefs rivalry and it's Taylor and Darth Rader.
That's that's fantastic to put those end together. Yes, go ahead,
because you go along.
Speaker 3 (59:39):
Well, that Chiefs guy was going to go in until
you know he was a thief.
Speaker 5 (59:43):
The guy who well, the guy who's the Chiefs the
guy that Andy Reid look alike.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
Yeah, he's a good he's a good one too.
Speaker 5 (59:50):
Yeah. I think it's I think she should go in
with the Andy Reid look alike, with the guy with
the guy with the head sight and the whole thing. Yeah,
that's what we should do, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
That's see, this is this is that's Hall of Fame worthy.
These are not very good fans.
Speaker 5 (01:00:07):
Let me just say this, this is what Jim Porter
really wants. He really really wants.
Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
That listen, we're going to rebrand the Hall of Fame. Okay,
just so you know, this is what's going This is
who's gonna go in imagined.
Speaker 5 (01:00:20):
Could you imagine if they announced that when when Dravis
Kelsey goes in and she's going to be there, do
you know how many tickets will be sold to that
ceremony that will be purchasi by fourteen to eighteen year
old girls.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
I'm making a pay per view event.
Speaker 5 (01:00:38):
Jacob play that place, well, he's sold out twice over
and they will take over the entire city of Campton.
That's uh, it's gonna be correct.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
There's gonna be a concert before Are you kidding? There'll
be a concert going into the ceremony.
Speaker 5 (01:00:54):
It'll be it'll be completely jammed for three days because
the girls will never leave. They'll just be one sighting
after another. She was no wait a.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Minute, wait, Patten Ready, Ready Ready, swift Stock boom pat
and patent pending, patent pending, swift stock. Think about that.
Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
That's kind of like every.
Speaker 5 (01:01:14):
Content the mayonnaise in the tuna fish.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
Nicely done, cal starkiss. So let's stay with the music stuff.
Two out of three eighth bad mclauren and Hendrickson are done.
How many games does Michael Parsons miss?
Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
Oh yeah, there's a point which I don't know that
he ever plays for them again. With that, I think
that there's like you start to read the body language
a little bit in this one, and how much Jerry,
like Jerry's really made this a war with mu Leagetta
(01:01:52):
his agent and in a de facto way with Micah.
And I've never seen a player lay on a table
in the middle.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Of the game, even a preseason games.
Speaker 5 (01:02:05):
It could have been bad nachos, you know, like David
Letterman talked about that's when you know the bad pregame nachos.
Once there was that that and earlier in the week
there was the picture of him sitting in the end
zone all by himself during practice.
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
Where you wanted to hear the rest of development Christmas time. Yeah, sure.
Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
Wow. There's doing a lot of singing here, a lot
of this is a musical hour with Smith and Harmon. No.
I I just there's this weird, weird feeling I get
about how this negotiation is going. Is it's not it's
it's gone so far beyond money that really is a
(01:02:56):
respect factor. And you've heard a couple of candidates for
the NFLPA talk about like de Ral Rieves did it.
Matt Shad talked about last week where it's, you know,
it's a real thing where the the union should be
stepping in on this one and they're not. And I
know that the penalties are not very significant, and Mike
(01:03:18):
Florio has written about that, and I'm you know, and
I've tweeted about it quite a bit too, but he's
Jerry has gone so far over the line in talking
about how well, you know, I negotiated with this with
the player, but that's just so wrong and it's such
a violation of what the player has wanted to have
(01:03:38):
done that I think that's It's like, it's different from
the other ones. The other ones were all sort of
a charade where you knew the guy who was going
to get paid at the end. This one has become
a real battle, and it just feels different than you know,
it feels different than the DAK negotiation, feels different Seedily
amb feels different than as Brian, it feels different than
(01:04:01):
you know, all the other ones that you know they
waited too long. And we've talked about how you know
they had to pay too much because of it. This
one feels like I don't know that there's a way
to recover from this one. Now you can, you can
patch all things. All things can be solved with money.
But man like Micah, the feeling you get from Mike
(01:04:23):
is that this is not like. This isn't this. This
has gone above and beyond.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
You know. And that's the thing is when this first
came out, I said this was different because for Micah
Parsons to go on social media and look, gen Z
loves social media. They're beholding to it. Something said on
social media is the Bible. And for him to say
I no longer want to be here and detail the
wrongs that he said had been done to him by
Jerry Jones to him and his agent, I said, this
(01:04:52):
is not going to be so Jerry Jones thinks, oh,
this is fine.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
I'll get it done. I'm not worried. I've done this
many times before. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
No, you know, not every dude is the same. And
Michah Parson's clearly this is it was personal very early,
like you know the McLaurin stuff, Yes, that's personal, but
he's been there for years. The Hendrickson was personal. He's
been there for years. Oh, they're gonna get it done. No,
Michael Parsons, this was personal, very very early. He's a
different dude from those other guys.
Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
Yes, and he's the best. He's their best player. I
mean he's better than CD, he's better than Dak. Yeah.
Like it's just again when when you're doing things that
attack the integrity of the player, and that's what Jerry's
(01:05:41):
done in this one. He said, you know, we had
a handshake agreement. You know, this is we negotiate this,
and and Parson says, like, yeah, we talked a little
bit about money. That's not a negotiation. Talk to my agent.
And then he's like when when Jerry says things like
there's no room for the agent in this anymore. Oh whoa, whoa,
(01:06:04):
oh whoa.
Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
I know laws say we have to have the agent involved,
but we don't really have to have involved, do we.
I'm make a phone call?
Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
Yeah like that. That that's like me saying that Cowboy
Bees should really be part of it, Like like this
is a this is such an imaginary world that you
just sit there and go no, no, no, no. The
agent's part of this. The agent you know, the agent's there.
(01:06:33):
The agent is there on behalf of the player to
protect the player from something going wrong because the player
is not an expert in contracts. And then the player
always has fear that he's going to be tricked in
a negotiation. And this is Jerry Jones saying you have
to negotiate with me no matter what. In other words,
(01:06:56):
like even if you don't trust me and you think
I'm going to trick you, you're going to do It's
like it is such a deep violation of trust and
the way that you're supposed to do negotiations that I
do think that there's a point where it's unrecoverable and
we might have reached that. The body language makes me
really think, yeah, this one's done. Like the kid just
(01:07:19):
does not want to be there under any circumstances. Because
you see holdouts all the time, and guys are standing
on their hold ends as we like to call him
right now. And the guys are on they're stand on
the sideline, they're with there, they're with their teammates. They
may not look happy, but they're part of the whole process,
and everybody knows what the charade is. This one is
(01:07:39):
like Mike is off by himself like, yeah, I'm I
don't want to be here. I don't want to be
here in any way, shape or form. And that's the
vibe you get on this one.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. That is
at Jason Cole sixty two. He's got eight hundred words
coming up on thirty third Team on the TXT he
got from Jim Porter about the engagement of Travis Kelson.
Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
Yeah, yeah, we're gonna make this thing happen. We're gonna
have the concert. I can't wait. Taylor, I've got I've
even got a set list for her.
Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
I got a set list. Here's the songs we'd like
you to play. Oh yeah sure, yeah, no problem.
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
Au Jiliary tent for extras.

have actually been in the spotlight for everything else that
say all right, let's see you week one.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
So yeah, he's ready.
