Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, welcome in side our three, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
This time it counts.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
For over forty years, Tyrerack's been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped
fast and free backed by free Road, has a protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot
com is the way tire buying should be. You know,
we just saw an ad for the official shaver of
the NFL. Now, if you got a jet shaver, and yeah,

(00:57):
how many times you think you'd cut your head?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Uh oh? Five times? Every time?

Speaker 4 (01:03):
So every time, like it would would we be the
razor's fault or would it just be your angst?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
How would you see that logo?

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I would cut my head carrying the American flag out
to the middle of the field.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
That's what happened. I cut my head there take the over.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
One thing I can't do. I can't stop being American.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Damn right.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
I tried to send that to you yesterday to taunt you,
but I had my iHeart Broadways handle on and it's
a random commercial on about goal commercial, so the TV's playing,
but I've got my phone.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
There's one thing we can't stop doing. We can't stop
being American independently.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
There buy a ram truck.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Be American independently. Eleanor my older daughter actually brought that
up to me today. It's like, who's that guy that
yells all the time? I hear you're watching TV down
here as as you're you know, making dinner or whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
It's like, what the hell it?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Guy keeps coming up, Like I don't know, they keep
cycling the same three.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
We just can't and stop being American. But I feel
like I want to run out and be a great American.
Today it's a great day for America.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Uh so again right now, four minutes ago, in the
fourth quarter, Eagles have the football. They lead the Cowboys
twenty four to twenty and Yes, spitgate, second spinner, Roger McDowell.
All of it is going to be the big front
line story tonight. Jalen Carter, one of the best defensive
tackles in the NFL, gets kicked out of the game

(02:28):
before the first nap because he is caught spitting at
Dak Prescott. Subsequent replays shown during the weather delay that
we have had. Right now, people are hearing this for
the first time, going, what the hell did I miss
it at? Yeah, during the long weather delay, NBC got
an angle that showed Dak Prescott spitting at Jalen Carter first,
and now that's going to be part of what we see.
And look, the Dak Prescott did not get caught in this.

(02:50):
It was Jalen Carter who clearly spits at Dak Prescott's
chest and winds up getting thrown out of the game.
We just saw the image from the Dallas Cowboy or
a Dak Prescott doing it a few moments ago. And
now the big debate online is, oh, did Dak spit down?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Like I don't. I don't know what to tell you.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
If you think where he spit, I mean the whole thing.
And we'll get to the Micah Parsons angle on this
is Michael Parson didn't spend anybody. Just something else different is.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
That we don't know that certainly in the context of
this game, Boy and Boy Cowboy sure could have used
them tonight, couldn't they.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Uh, I mean they've they've brought a couple of quarterback blitches.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
You know, if any of them could actually you know,
tackle Jalen Hurts instead of watching him just sidestep.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Them, it'd be a much different story. Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Dak Prescott leans forward, raises his head, spits at Jalen
Carter and then engages and jaws with him, smiles like
this is all part of one thing. That this was
not a case of Dak backed up, spin on the
ground and then Jalen Carter.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Walked up to him.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Dak clearly is the agitator and the instigator on this.
Now the big I can't believe people's Oh Dak spit
on the ground, like you can't tell. Bottom line is
Dak spit, but that's can't.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Tell right where the spit is, but certainly he initiates.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
If because of this, if you kick Jalen Carter out
for the game, spit for spat.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah, but I do like that phrase, and if you sure,
we should print it immediately.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Not playing week two, right, it's only fair.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
But here's the thing, at least with dek we're still
trying to interpret where how down distance in terms of
where that spit lands relative to him. Was that I
spit in your general direction? Jalen Carters, there's no there's
no right, there's no excuse me. I'm not saying he
got right gets a free pass without his that is

(04:39):
against the world.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
But in terms of interpreting, because fighting staff like think
about it this way. This is this is why I
agree with that. Because fighting in the NFL, it doesn't
matter who starts it. If two people fight, you both
get ejected, right that that's how it goes. The same
thing here, spitting is against the rules, and it merits
an ejection. And Jalen Carter spit at Dak Prescott, he

(05:01):
merits an ejection.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I watch this.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
There's no way that he spit down and didn't spit
at him because again the angle of his head. Again,
he raises his head to spit. You don't raise your
head to spit if you're spinning right now.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
At him and missed.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Because if you spin. If you raise your head when
you're spitting, you run the risk. And I can't believe
this is the conversation that we're having, but this is
it is. If you raise your head while you're spitting,
if you're just spitting down, you run the risk of
that going down your chin. Nobody wants that, right again,
spitting is for me to have this conversation. Understand, I'm
sucking it up so much for you tonight because this
is the most disgusting thing and I have a problem

(05:36):
with talking about and seeing it, and I really have
a thing. So I'm just white knuckling my way through
the show tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Honestly, I just Alex has got like fourteen drops. I'm
the last too many.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I am white knuckling this because it's just so disgusting.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
But you don't.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
That's not how you act if you're just spitting on
the ground. The fact that it's all one thing. I
lean my head forward, I spit. He didn't spit at
his chest. Did he spit more at his belly or
spit at your pants? Okay, but that's still spinning out someone,
And that's still if you're rejecting that guy, you're rejecting that.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
But that's the thing the Jayleen Carter and this is
where we need more Zubruta film, Like did he point
to his pants and be like, hey, he got me?
Like we we didn't get history onics on that side,
at least to anything I've seen in the immediate aftermath,
or certainly now with the online detectives who are on
this like meat on a bone. Man, I'll tell you,

(06:27):
come on.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
As if the Cowboys and Eagles need anything to hate
each other more, now you have this.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Jerry Jones could go streaking through the field right now
and nobody would care.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I gotta gotta take the attention away.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
So here, hold my trench coat, hold matah, and here
here's the cowboy socks. I should probably keep the shoes on.
These are expensive. These are each one of these shoes
is worth ten thousand dollars. So I just want to
let you know, just think about it.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Run.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
If Deck were to get suspended, you thought he went
scorched to Earth for him missing games due to injury.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Does Jerry Jones wear sock supporters?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Do you think you know?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Do you think you wear socks? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, socks support.
I think my dad go all the way up.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I think my dad.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
My dad is the only person who is like over
seventy and doesn't wear socks. Like I'm like, Dad, you
gotta wear socks, Dad, No, I have don't wearing socks
since I was thirty years old. All right, Daddy, I
do it, But I mean it saves him a couple
of bucks. Eat you. I'd rather have my dad wear socks.
Dad wear socks, don't wear boat shoes, and then we
and not wear socks and take the shoes off when
you come to the house. Okay, no, no, no, you

(07:28):
keep the shoes on when you come over if you're
not wearing socks.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Okay, that just it's a rule. Now buy it. Do
you buy your dad's socks for Christmas now or Birthday?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
No?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
No, no, no, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
It's some Yankee socks. No you think you had a
picture of Jeter on there? I got my Okay, By
the way, did you guys did your streak continue today?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
We are at eleven? Now, look at you.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
We are at eleven. It's my pick for the mountain.
Now nervous Now, I'm like, okay, we got our streak
is at eleven doubles. Come on now, Uh, so, what's
happened outside of Spitgate and what's happening in the game
right now? Telling you it's spit for spat Uh George Pickens? Eh,
that guy, Welcome to the game, George Pickens. George Pickens
just catches a pass for a first down.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Good for him.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
The Cowboys now have the football near their own forty
yard line with under three minutes left to go. A
touchdown would give them the lead. Now, to talk about
this game from the perspective of following the spit this
just takes you to the point of and it's really
so strange that all of the breakdown we did of

(08:31):
this game for a week talking about the impact and
how the Eagles should win this game big, and how
are the Cowboys gonna do without Micah Parsons And are
the Cowboys gonna be able to do anything offensively? They
probably can't run the football, It's gonna be very difficult.
Before the first play, an all Pro defensive tackle with
the top five defensive tackles in the game gets thrown

(08:53):
out for spinning at Dak Prescott and that changes everything.
It changes everything as far as what the Cowboys think
they can accomp it because you're taking one of the
best players, probably the best player defensively they have. You're
taking him off the field, and now you can run
the football a little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
More than you think.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
The Cowboys have run for one hundred and twenty yards
so far in this game, so they run the football
more than they expected to. Dak is moving the football
up and down the field more. The first half was terrific.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Just had a CD drop that would have forty yards.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I mean, the Cowboys have been playing extremely well and
a game that the Eagle should probably have won by
many more points, and they're trying to hold on to win.
Now this has become a game all of this breakdown
and it goes out the window.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
But yeah, to play like all the script. Think about Shottennheimer,
it's like, hey that script. Look at that first drive.
It's like, yeah, that script didn't exist. We were able
to run, Hey, put in a run play, put it
rup play.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
They just kicked him out.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
I mean, everything we talked about this game goes out
the window because that happens before the first play from scrimmage.
Like that's just you look at that and go man
again and I go back, ja, you know ja, certain
things people say stick with me and always stick with
me in the course of my life.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Just certain things.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
And Jay Glazer all the stuff when easiest, stop by
after the game is over with us like he normally does.
Is that when Jay says, the NFL the greatest reality
show in the history of the world. Right, like all
the reality shows we have now they're on the people Watch,
doesn't matter. The NFL is the greatest reality show on
the planet. In season, offseason, drama, in game, outside of game.

(10:28):
Nothing is better than what the NFL has. And clearly
that's it, because all of a sudden, here we are,
we're spending time with the defending Super Bowl champion and
the Dallas Cowboys, who we couldn't get enough of the
last week because of that stupid ass Micah Parsons trade,
and we're talking about two guys spinning at each other
like that. Come on, man, like that's it. Like people say, oh,

(10:49):
the NFL, Oh that's great, man, This is what he
makes the NFL different.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
We're not getting this in any other sport.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
You gotta go all the way back to Roberto Alomar
spinning an umpire in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
For that to happen, that was almost third thirty years ago.
I mean, come on, man, never stop being America.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Never stop spitting at people if they get in your face.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Like that's that's the part of this game that.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Just but you get storylines that pop out of the weie, right,
I know, we have the injury on the opening kickoff,
you lose your full back. All of a sudden, you're
you're on the Eagles sideline. They're like, all right, our
run games probably gonna look a little different now. And
then the next play Carter before the next snap, Carter
gets thrown out. It's like, wow, that's that's a really
active couple of minutes for Drico and Collins. Yeah, Kevin

(11:35):
Harlan was losing his mind on the radio, calls like
I don't know what the hell's happening.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Arion Foster's script. Clearly, we're gonna start out with a bang.
We're not gonna ease into the season. We're gonna give
you left turn right away.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
The way this started, you might as well cut straight
to a commercial for that new movie Hymn.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
It's like that Jordan Peele movie that's coming out. That's
like that the lethal weapon two when the movie opens
right in the middle of a car chase, like they're
already going, well, it's like that's how this season started. Hey,
we have a huge deal. Right before the first play,
right forth the first play, we have a huge deal.

(12:10):
And now, speaking of huge deals, the Cowboys, with the football,
facing a fourth and three near midfield, go for it
on fourth down and Dak throws a go route to
CD Lamb who lines up in the slide. He's got
Cooper d John on him and it looks like maybe
cond looks like he gets a hand out there, but

(12:34):
I think the swipe of his arm looked a little
bit worse than it was. No flag is thrown.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
CD could have.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Gotten the ball. It was a little out in front
of him, but catchable ball. He extended his way and
it looked like it was catchaball, except he doesn't. There's
not a huge hubbub for a flag from the Dallas Cowboys. Again,
I think it looked worse the first time because you
see Dejon reach with his arm and CD kind of
go down.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
But he gets a little bit like get misdirected body wise,
but he still has a full chance to make a play.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
So I yess, that's why you don't throw.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
The I think that's a good non calls, you know,
seeing it the second time, like certainly the first time,
it looks like a penalty. Right naked eye, you see
his arm come out. Maybe he grabbed him and Ceedee
Lamb extends for the ball. Okay, so he knocked him down.
But you see the replay and he's going out and
it's there and he just doesn't get it. And that's
that's that's the first big drop that he has had

(13:29):
in the second half. I mean, it's a full extension
for him, but it's not like the ball is off
his fingertips like he is.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Able to almost reel it in.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, two times, stage drop by Ceedee Lamb, and I
mean it's a good non call. And now the Eagles
have the football. The Cowboys will have a couple of
time outs left. So if the Eagles can't get a
first down here, uh Dallas, looks like they will get
the football back with a decent amount of time. Remember
they got to go the length of the field, being
down twenty four to twenty.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Good job on first down, Barkley trying to stretch it.
Good open field tackle, to get it done. Uh so,
now on the second down play, is that an AJ
Brown siding?

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (14:08):
AJ Brown caught a pass? Breaking news? AJ Brown caught
a pass? Breaking news? Does Monzy have that? AJ Brown
caught a pass?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Monzie?

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Do you have this?

Speaker 3 (14:15):
AJ Brown caught a pass?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
What do they breaking news?

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I like the Tixer played all of them. It just started.
It's mashing buttons. That was funny as hell.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
You just all the.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Sounders it once. That is the That is the first
catch of the night for AJ Brown. That is catch
number one and it now sets up the Eagles with
a third and three first down. Here we'll clinch the
game for them. Fourth down, they'll be punting the ball
back to the Cowboys. But wow, how about he got
that eight yard catch?

Speaker 3 (14:51):
How about that? Everywhere? Fantasy owners? At least I didn't
get skunked.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Now, I think a lot of fantasy own to say, well,
I'd rather get 's gonna suck that much? Give me
zeros like an really stare at that and get mad.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Hey, that one point eight points on EPR might matter.
I'm getting mad at that.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
One salty if you're in a gilla tee leader at
one point eight points might matter.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
No, Jason, I'm mad at you, well you mad at mean.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
I had a great bit for this whole spit play
by play, but she didn't even go to the sound.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Okay, you don't get it. I didn't know. You know,
you're not supposed to know. We have an hour and
forty five minutes off to the show. You know, what
do you mean You're done? What are you talking? Ben
Mall next?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Wait, we've been dismissed us Speaking speaking of being done,
it looks like that's the game. On a third and three,
Jalen Hurts back to pass, doesn't see what he likes downfield,
scrambles for a first down. Looks like he's gonna get
hit well short of the first down, but he cuts
back to the inside of the field and is able

(15:48):
to get the yardage for the first down. So the
Eagles look like they're gonna win this game. Cowboys have
one time out left to buck forty five left to go.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Jalen Hurts making the game saving play. I mean, a
phenomenal play by him. Right, he sees the linebackers coming
in on him and he makes that cut back and
he safely gets the first down by a couple of yards.
Nick Sirianni's got his fist in the air and my
fingers going forward, and the Eagles look like they're gonna
hold on and win this game twenty four to twenty.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Yeah, that's the tail of this game. I mean it
hurts did that a number of times in the first half,
and when they needed it most, there wasn't a number
eleven on the Cowboys side to try to chase him down.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
You know how the hass rush could have used Michael
Parsons on.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
That because they sure as hell didn't stop the run
or keep them from getting anything up the gut over
the course of the night. But alas for the Cowboys.
But you know what, unless something really crazy happens, you're
plus seven plus seven and a half plus eight plus
eight and a half, you're cashing tickets tonight.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
But hey, here's the whole thing. Like Jerry Jones, they
made that move. They needed to stop the run. They did,
they needed to stop the run. It's good they didn't
have Michael Parsons for that play.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Well, I mean, look, the Eagles will only run for
one hundred and sixty yards tonight.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
And Cede Lamb is sitting on the sideline right now,
pointing to himself saying, my fault, my fault, my fault
not coming down with that pass. The Eagles are kneeling
on the football.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
Now.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
They're gonna win this thing twenty four to twenty, and
believe it or not, now the fun really starts. We're
gonna be talking about Smitgate. We're gonna be talking about
Micah Parsons not being there. We're gonna hear from Jerry Jones.
We're gonna hear from Dak Prescott, Nick Sirianni CD lamb Oh.
The fun is just beginning. Wow, Eagles win at twenty
four to twenty, but must listen radio. The rest of

(17:32):
the way is here Jason and Mike, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Eagles hold on to beat the Cowboys twenty four to twenty.
Jalen Carter is ejected for spitting at Dak Prescott. Video
shows Dak Prescott spitting at Jalen Carter. First yay, A
third and three play for the Eagles results in the
first down. Jalen hurts needs boy. The Cowboys could have

(18:41):
used Michael Parsons on that gonna throw the ball? Nobody
better to break this down to welcome back for another year,
A guy that I've been quoting all night tonight. Yes
you have, because I've been saying this Jalen Carter story.
I always think back to Jay Glazer saying in the
NFL is the greatest reality show in the history of
the warl old NFL on Fox, Jay Glazer with us, Now,

(19:02):
what's happening, buddy, happy opening.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Now, what's going on? Man? A good night? Man? Actually
watched over Yamabuck Casino, Rosie and I and heading back
home now. But hey, greatest reality show in the world.
You can't make that up.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
No, no, no, we've been talking about the first place
before the I.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Want to I want to correct I want to correct you,
he said. Dak Prescott spit it Jalen and Jaln spit
Adak as not No, Dak spit on the ground.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Das at him. Dak spit at him like you see there's.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
But on the ground and on a person. Two totally
different things, I think. But also he's behind his lineman. No,
two totally different things. Man. You cannot spit on a dude.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
No, no, I'm not saying Jaylen Carter didn't deserve to
get thrown out. Absolutely he did. But that Dak's the instigator.
He leaned forward to spit at him in his smiling
laughing at him right after like that, that's that's that
doing it first.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
He's seven yards away and like he's spent at the ground.
It's two totally different things, not even the same strategy,
not even close. And one was obviously flagged one, wasn't
The ref said, you know the same things. They gotta
have more control than even if somebody instigates you like
that like dak Is and and I don't know if
he really was or not, because Jayleen Carter is not

(20:19):
the guy you want to instigate. No, no, no, no
no no. He is liked when I was an Eagles camp,
They're like, hey man, just we don't like did you
like to joke around already? Don't joking him?

Speaker 1 (20:32):
So what do you What do you take away from
tonight's game? Was this a lost opportunity for the Cowboys?
Was this just one of those games where it was
crazy because of what happened early on?

Speaker 5 (20:42):
I actually said, you know, the Cowboys got lots to
hand their hats on about what the offense looked like.
You know, defensively, I actually thought they generated a lot
of pass rush. It's just as hard as get Jalen.
I thought they were much better than what a lot
of people were expecting. And then just you know, Philadelphia, dude,
it's you know, if you can't get them early, they

(21:03):
are just gonna gut you and gut you and gut
you with the run just too many weapons on that's on.
You know, that's what you know. Saques is gonna beat
you down, beat you down. But the way Jalen rounds
and that also just two of them, it's hard to
stop if you don't jump out early to leave with them.
Over Philadelphia, they're just gonna pound you away. And we

(21:25):
all know what the chest push does, kind of like, hey,
you know, you're you're always like you know, they're words
like first to eight pretty much right. But same thing
with what their running game does. You man, you you
better put away early part of the game because if
it's close, you know, later on and you have to
figure out if they're gonna run a pass whatever it

(21:46):
is that or Philadelphia's just able to paddle lead. They're
just gonna run it and run it, run it and
run it, and you can't stop them.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
Well, Jail Jalen Hurd's getting with the magical stuff. But
for the last week, Jay, I mean, we've got the
documentary going on for the Cowboys that we've been watching.
We already have a whole season worth over the last week.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
By the way, that documentary was unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Insane, unbelievable, unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
It was so well made. And obviously have you know
with Jimmy Jotson for twenty four years and really close
with Try and Michael and that, all those guys prime
and man, it was so well made. Man, what did
you guys think was better that? Or or the last damps?

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (22:27):
This is far better.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
I knew Michael Thorton was pay and I knew this
was crazy, but there was many wrinkles to this that
you know with secondary character.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
Jordan had the iPad, but this is just produced so well. Man,
it was great, So.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Jay obviously, now it's been a few days and boy
Dallas clearly could have used Michael Parsons tonight.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
What's been what's been the fallout?

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Now we've had a few days to get used to
the Micah Parsons trade, and Mike is talking about loving
life in Green Bay and the cowboys are talking about
life without him? Well, where is it now that the
dust is settled?

Speaker 5 (22:59):
I just think it was it's hard to repair that relationship,
you know, and and you know Michael wanted to move on.
They wanted to move on. I just thought they looked
at it like this is not this is irreparable. And
I've been around the Cowboys for a long time. I
don't remember a lot of things being irreparable with players
and Jerry and I just like it became that. And
then you know, if you're sitting there going, well, this
isn't just you know, let's say a receiver, this is

(23:20):
gonna you know, we have two hundred million dollars in
our chap wrapped up, or you know, the five year
deal of quarter of a million, you better be absolutely
positive and sure. And he certainly wasn't on the Cowboys.
The Cowboys that think it just got kind of it
was ended up becoming a divorce that I think both

(23:41):
sides saw it kind of happened, and Cowboys are going, hey,
we need we really need to reload. You know, the
best thing we could possibly send somewhere to reload, and
we have to reload through draft chapel. They do a
really good job with their draft between Will McLay and Stigma,
Jerry and those guys, they really do They draft very well, figureing, hey,
we got to reload here and that's the only way

(24:02):
we could do it. Same way with I don't want
to compare it to the rehearsal Walker trade, because that
was better trade. You know that that they did back
in the day, but I just think it was you know,
I know when I got out there. I'll just say
you this, whenever I went around a camp to every team,
every team asked me what I thought was gonna happen.
Every team said, they're only gonna trade them a let.

(24:23):
I said, I absolutely believe they're gonn tradining. I totally
believe they're gonn trade it. And they're like, no, come on,
I'm like, no, I'm telling you that I believe they're
gonna trade him. Yes, and I and I never didn't.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
What's curious, though, Jay, in the reporting, if you could
shed some light on how long a window was it,
you know, because it seemed like it all came together
just that fast. I mean between the Packers and Cowboys,
was it really that quick, lightning fast?

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Yeah, it wasn't. The once once they gave the agent
permission to talk, that happened real fast. And they didn't
did that until the very very very end. So until
that happens, he really like, it doesn't really matter because
if Mike was like, no, I'm not I'm not gonna
negotiate with them, He's not gonna go anywhere so they
had to get his okay in it also, and then
they had to do that really quickly and see if

(25:12):
they can work it out. And I remember being with
the Packers the week before. They everyone were asking me like,
come on, they're really gonna do it. I'm like, don't
tell me that they're really gonna do it, okay, And
now I'm like, and I said, the cow works to
look and going, I'm thinking the dead week a lot
of teams to start jumping out quickly. And I told
the Packers up too. I said, hey, man, you guys
should if you really want to do this, you guys

(25:34):
could go to get aggress them before every other team
jumps out there. But I mean, Buyan Goo just knew
what he was doing and knew that he wanted to
do it the first place. I think he was just
kind of looking at the end like they're really going
to do this. But then you have to get Mike
and the agents, you know, and the Cowboy Solicten for
them to to try and work out a deal. To
work out the deal pretty quickly, NFL.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
And foxes Jay Glazer with us here, Jason Smith, Mike
Carbon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios now as
far as Parsons goes, he's ramping up to play the pack.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
It's their call for him playing. What are you hearing?
Do you think he plays Sunday?

Speaker 5 (26:08):
I think he does. I just don't know to an extent.
I and be honest with you, guys, are just I
don't ask until the weekend, so I wait until you
know they got another couple of workouts. So I usually
don't wait till after all the workouts are done.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
So as you do, going camp to camp, Jay, and
we celebrate you thirty one years today, the anniversary of
the NFL is.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
This thirty two thirty third caamp.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
Oh No, I met for the NFL on Fox right
as you guys, the family gets back together.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
But for your training camp tours? Is there one story
you normally have? Pranks? I know Jalen Carter wasn't on
the list, but any good tales from the road.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
Oh prank? Anybody is shore on the road? Oh my god, no,
But I'll tell you it's cool, man. I I gave
full mental health talks this year at teams. That was
really really really cool, and you know, and a lot
of my the way I'm doing it now is like, look,
I got brought in for years because trained so many
these players to mixed martial arts, and the whole thing
for the players that we coach, the fighters that we fach,

(27:04):
if you were hurt and tired in that cage, you
will never ever ever know from our fighters.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
And think we lost that.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
The world. But I said, my partner in this Brandy
Gatur book, his arm in half and the heavyweight Championship
of the world. He's like, no, I can't show it,
can't show it, don't show hurt. Don't show hurt though
obviously stop fight. And I'm like, you need that. You're
a football fire fighter, you need that mentality. If you
don't show it, you don't show it. If you're hurt
or tired, you never show it any cage or off

(27:39):
the field. But the truth is most of us don't
live in a cage or on a field, and so
many of us, especially men, wait for that field, to
wait for that cage. That's same exact attitude. If you
don't show it, you don't show it, you don't show it,
get so many of us the living shame. And you know,
guys like me, I'd say it's harder for me because
I've know I've been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar

(28:04):
and something to those CV anxiety other than that of
a model of stability. But I'm like, guys, the thing
that's changed my life and will change you too is again,
you're we're ingrained as dude, you don't show it now.
I'm telling you to change that. There's a whole new,
unbreakable mindset. You could have two one in occasion in

(28:27):
the field of one away from it. But lean into
your teammates. Think how closest will make you if you
are vulnerable, you open up your your trauma and your scars. Man,
those are your superpowers you share those. I would die
from my fight teammates, so that's been death already. Like
I know, I will and figure how closest will make
you as a team if you guys lean into each other.

(28:47):
And the other thing I've done is, like, you know,
since I've started talking about this three or four years ago,
and since I've really started to get the help that
I need, I've started to do a deep dive not
talking to these guys about turning their mental helping the
mental wealth. I actually have started to kind of sit
there my pain of my depression, anxiety, the idiot sing

(29:08):
where they actually helped me, Where they become my superpower?
Where have I weaponized them? Because if I have, if
I view them differently, like they're my superpower and I'm
not ashamed by him anymore, and I can really share
them with others and not living that shame as everything.
If I got a bunch of teammates I could lean into. Man,
it makes the world so much better for us to

(29:28):
exist in. And it was a really really it was
cool to talk to all these teams. I talked to him.
It was beautiful, Tim, you know.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
And lastly Jay, obviously you know I love this stuff you.
Speaking of teammates, this is going to be your first
NFL on Fox here without Jimmy Johnson who retired earlier.
Are you any different thoughts for you going into this
season with with with Jimmy not being there, a different thing,
like where are you right now?

Speaker 5 (29:53):
I'll be honest with you, guys. Man, he called me
at the combine and tell me. And I was and
dinner with Toada Peters and John Lynch and he called
me and I had to go move myself from the tail.
I started crying because that's it's a twenty two year relationship.
Manis long this relationship my life, you know, and man,

(30:15):
but put the kid, you know, like hear me? All right? Man,
we got so close for these last few years and
it was pretty cool. You now we're sitting together just
in them you know, avocado room this past year. I'm like,
you know, I call him drink about it. Drink about
It's so cool that I got to you know, how
close we've gotten. And he's like, yeah, I'm really proud
of you of what you've done. He goes, took me

(30:36):
a while to figure you out. And I figured you out.
You don't know anything else but to fight, and you
have nothing else in you but to fight, fight, fight,
and you don't have to anymore. But you don't know
that about you. That's all you got And I appreciate
that about you. And I was like, oh my god.
Like to hear that from a guy like Jimmy Johnson. Man,

(30:58):
that is a career highlight that.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer check out Jay wherever
you want to of course on NFL on Fox this Sunday,
Founder of MVP and Unbreakable Performance, the true mental health
Warrior Jay as always, buddy, thanks for stopping by, looking
forward another great season, every great with hid.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
A rosie for us.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Happy to your buddy. Thanks there goes Ja. Yeah, big
deal now right, Gronk take him taking to Johnson's place?

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Big deal?

Speaker 4 (31:27):
Like, Look, I I've only met Jimmy Johnson a couple
of times in my life, and you know, we've we've
obviously been talking to Jay for these years, but like
he's just been a fixture in what we've done, right
and being a part of this larger Fox world as
long as I have. Like, that's a big loss. So
my thoughts with Jay and and all the crew there

(31:47):
and Terry and Howie and all man, it's gonna be
a different and different energy obviously with grog Goowski coming
in and excited to see what he does in that seat,
But it's definitely gonna be a different look for for
all of us watching the NFL on Fox.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Opening Night of the NFL. Happy Opening Night,
and boy did we have drama.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
We had spitting, we had weather delays, and we had
the Cowboys falling to the Eagles twenty four to twenty.
Now there's gonna be the Johnny Sunshine part of this
for the Cowboys. That's gonna be well. Opening night after
a week of drama with Micah Parsons, we nearly beat
the Eagles. Sure we came within a couple of plays,

(32:41):
a couple of CD lamb butter fingers.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
I don't know that they're going to add that to
the list of almost You know, if CD had the balls,
if he had caught the balls of the top fights.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
You and I'm saying that seven for one ten great,
great night, unless it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
But you got to have those last two, right, I
mean you got to have those last time that you
could score. You could score thirty five. But if you
miss a jumper that can win the game with no
time left in the fourth quarter, guess what, gotta have it.
But didn't look pretty when it went pretty? If you
like when he laid out, didn't it look pretty if
you miss a layup at the buzzer, it's more if
you miss a layup at the.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Tell you what that first draft.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
First drop on the crossing route though, that's the one,
like the second one whatever, Degene and he get dangled
up whatever and he and he dives and he misses
that one. Obviously it ends the game. But the first one,
like man, he could have kept running for days.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
So I know that there's that Teddy.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Hey, we want to take a look and say, hey,
find a lot of positive and great and that's awesome,
right back, that's great. But this was a completely missed
opportunity for the Cowboys to win this game. They right
away the Eagles were on their heels. With Jalen Carter
getting tossed from the game. The Cowboys were able to
move the football defensively, though they couldn't stop Philadelphia enough

(33:56):
right The Eagles had to lead early, and that Miles
Sanders fumble still is the play of the game because
down twenty four to twenty with a chance to get
in the end zone after a big fifty yard run,
the game is different if that happens, and that fumble
was it. The Cowboys didn't score after that, and they
had their chances. They had their chances at midfield, they

(34:17):
had their chances throwing the ball. The CD Lamb who
dropped a couple of passes I think three passes in
the fourth quarter he missed that he could have got,
including the last one on fourth down. Like yeah, you
can say, hey, yeah, we're playing, but this is a
game you let go, Like I'm sorry, this is a
game that you let go. The Cowboys should have won
this game, and they and they didn't agreed.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
And every opportunity that they had to make a stop,
guess what, they didn't have anybody to track down Jalen hurts.
He did it all with his legs right well, especially
that final play. M At no point did I ever
think he was gonna throw what a scramp? Oh no, no,
of course not.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
But no, that's only if someone is absolutely wide open
off Otherwise, like he'd done that same dance all day.
I was like, all right, there's my lane dance long
enough to go get my six yards.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
And and they overplayed him to the outside and he
cuts the middle of the field, and that that's a
that's a player. Go man, our quarterback cut to the
middle field to get that first down. That's pretty bleep
and special right there.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
But that's the guy right at some point he'll start
getting his proper respect.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
You know, I'm glad you talked about that, because we'll
get into We'll get into Jalen Hurts part of it
coming up next hour, because coming off the Super Bowl
and what we saw tonight, we'll get into Jalen Hurts
a lot. But coming up next Obviously, the spitgate between
Jalen Carter and Dak Prescott has been the story of
the night.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
I think you agitated.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Uh well, I think Dak Prescott agitated it. How about
this now, after talking about it, I will tell you
how this is going to end. I'll tell you how
it's gonna end with with suspension wise, discipline wise, everything.
I'll tell you how it's gonna end. Coming up next,
