With Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon. Mike and Dan break
down everything you need to set your lineups, from position
rankings to starts and sits. The guys help you make
those hard decisions and now let's get your flex. Ond
Here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Another episode of I Want Your Flex is here. It's
Week two in the NFL. Hit Mike up at swallendaalb.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. Ian
Roddy is our executive producer. You can find him at
Ian Roddy Underscore Week two underway with I don't know
if it was an impressive performance by the Packers, but
it was more impressive than what the Commanders put on
the field. Mike is Week two is now here.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yeah, look at that that game Thursday night, Dan, as
we watched it unfold. I mean a lot of points
still left on the table. Jordan love with some misses
and those that would have had had to play Matthew
go golden me in a deeper league. Yeah, I got
a whole lot of nothing until he had a couple
of carries late love with the solid stat line of
his two ninety two and two Tucker Kraft the hero
(01:16):
of the day, which means waiver wires are going nuts.
He shouldn't have been on them in our estimation, Dan,
but we know how you know, you got to keep
out with the megaphone before folks get on board. So
it's kind of cool. Does he two tight ends be
the leaders of the pack with zach Ertz and his
sixty four yards and a touchdown. But for Jade Daniels,
(01:37):
I guess he ended up with what looks like a
good stat line. But boy, I'll tell you that twenty eighteen, Uh,
that's not how that game played at all.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
No, no, it didn't. I had a buddy texted me
saying that the commander's receiving corps is awful, and I'm
not saying that it's their fault. I don't think that
they did Daniels some favors. But now with Austin Eckler
going down, there is some age zach Ertz as well.
It's not like Deebo's young and could get dinged up
at some point. I picked the Commanders to miss the
(02:07):
playoffs just on the premise of I didn't think everything
was going to go right for them like it did
last year. Sure, now I think that there are some
warts that we've seen in the first couple of weeks
of the season. We'll see how that plays out, especially
now in their backfield without Eckler, even thinner than what
we thought.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Well, I want more stories of what the hell was
going on with Brian Robinson that it was so bad
that they had to get rid of him, and now
you lose Eckler for the year. Bill krossky Merritt, I
gotta want to call him Jacory. It's a better name, Bill,
But you've got no depth now. So now it becomes
a question of Jay, are you in the running back market?
What team gets desperate? I think we've got a couple
(02:44):
of guys that we'll mention today, one that I think
you'll see next week that maybe you can just hold
up a card and welcome to a new team.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Well, let's get into this week. It is Week two,
one game in the books, we got fifteen more to go.
Let's rank the quarterbacks. Mike your top five quarterbacks for
Week two.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Looking for some bounce backs in our top five. Some
of the usual suspects just jumbled up a bit. How
about Joe Burrow going up against Jacksonville. Just one hundred
and thirteen passing yards last week against Cleveland, but looking
for a bounce back. They're over a field goal favorite
and the over under sitting at a nice robust forty nine.
My last sheet, Dan, there's only one game that even
(03:22):
rivals that everything else a little bit lower on the
board this week, Justin Herbert coming off of that big
opener in Brasil, looking for a double up situation with
the pick your poison. If you're the Raiders defensively on
Monday Night football, Lamar Jackson against Cleveland, you'll just do
it both as a runner and as a passer. Good
(03:43):
things all ahead there, interesting matchup. See if Cleveland's defense
really matches up what they did a week ago against
Cincinnati or was it the same old story with Cincinnati.
Baltimore's into a double digit favorite in this one at
home against the Jets, making it happen. Putting on the
Cape in week one, as we talked about in their
(04:05):
Week one rap, I mean just amazing stuff. Jets with
a great defensive front, but susceptible outside of the getting
lost in the sauce in the secondary. And then finally,
in a little bit of an upset Kyler Murray cracks
the top five one hundred and sixty three and two
in the opener, a couple of misses with Marvin Harrison
Junior of what could have been jail break kind of
(04:26):
plays and beautiful for the stats. He'll be active with
his legs as well, because you've got a pretty good
defensive front there. For Carolina.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
You mentioned Lamar Jackson. Brown's chirping a lot, Jerry Judy
saying that the secondary gives them no challenges. Grand Delpit
says it's easy to tackle Derrick Henry or I'm paraphrasing,
but Cleveland's doing a lot of talking for a team
that lost by one, and I'm wondering how much the
Ravens are smarting and if it's going to come back
to bite them in the butt. We will see Lamar Jackson,
(04:55):
one of your top five guys at the quarterback position.
We'll see if he takes up his teammates. Because the
Browns have been talking a lot this week.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
It's pretty amazing. Now they should have won that game. Right,
we get back into kickers, idiot kickers, as Peyton Manning
wanted to say, it should have had the opportunity, what
it could have. Should have you didn't win, Right, you're
still owing one and you're still last. I saw the
Browns and one of the big controversies this week, Dan
is the fact that they're the homecoming opponent, right because
(05:23):
it's the thirty year anniversary of the departure for Baltimore
and they've made a lot about that this week, which
is funny because you're gonna play them twice this year anyway,
and one was gonna be in Baltimore. But the Ravens
really playing it up. So these guys are a little chappy.
But also the det the delpit quote, are you telling
me that Derek Henry when he gets to the secondary
(05:44):
isn't gonna look around and be like where is he?
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:48):
And do one of those things. Just a Simpsons episode
from one of the early years where they have a
football thing with bartch the quarterback whatever and Nelson months
the bully is running towards the end zone and goes
out of his way and you know, does a full
ninety degree turn to go and truck. Somebody that's gonna
(06:08):
be Derrick Henry this week.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Henry's on his way to the end zone. Twenty fifteen. Waight,
he is trying to track down Grant Delpit. He's back
to the twenty five and thirty. All right, let's get
to those running Let's get to those running backs. Four
week five, Let's find out if we'll hear Derrick Henry's
name in these rankings.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Well, let's just get it done. Anytime you say not
hard a guy that ran for one hundred and sixty
nine yards. Yes, of course, the fumble looms large for Baltimore.
There's no way to get right better than a bunch
of dopes talking smack on a losing squad and you're
at home with everybody a bit thirsty, little angsty after
(06:45):
that loss. As we talked about on the larger NFL
scale in terms of finishing games that count, but for
fantasy purposes, Dereck Henry's number one, Chase Brown against the Jaguars,
gave us a touchdown last week, only forty three yards
on the ground, but expecting better things. You could see
the resounding theme of hey, let's go with the Bengals
(07:05):
because that offense has to come to work. Jamiir Gibbs
going up against Chicago. That ten for ten for thirty
one yards in the pass game is really the thing
that stands out to me, because I think there's gonna
be some growing pains for this offense as we watched
a week ago, and the Packers may just be that
good defensively too, Dan, but I think you're gonna see
a lot of the quick bailouts because Bears will bring
(07:27):
some heat, try to disrupt things and keep Morton and
Golf from getting on track. Number four again, going to
the passing game, nine catches week one, Christian McCaffrey, I
think he's the last guy standing thirty one touches a
week ago, and he's gonna have to be front and
center to support Mac Jones. I think you're gonna see
a lot more Robinson in the backfield as well, but
(07:47):
McCaffrey as a pass catcher, it's him and Pearsall and
a whole lot of question marks, and finally Kyen Williams
got his touchdown. I'm a little reticent to get excited
about the Rams in this game overall, one of the
potential ripe for an upset kind of things on the
road here, but I'm encouraged by the workload nineteen touches
(08:08):
in week one. I think they matt matched that and
any red zone opportunities there for Williams, so he cracks
ahead Barkley and Bijon just behind, both of them very
active in the passing game. In Week one.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
We had a trade in our longtime league this year,
Jamier Gibbs and Stefan Diggs for Chase Brown and Jamison Williams.
I don't I don't know. I understand the upside of
Chase Brown, but I don't know why you would give
up on Gibbs after just one.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Game because both guys on the other side are upside yes, right?
And is Jamison Williams like he's one of those guys?
If I'm in the best ball league, I'm feeling pretty
good that over the course of a year, I'm gonna
come up with some stats. But on a week to
week basis, is the guy that if you're only starting
two wide receivers, are you confident that he's top twenty
four every week? No, I'm sure, Zelle No. Especially with
(09:01):
Ben Johnson gone, I think there's gonna be some growing pains.
I think they'll be okay overall, and it'll take some time.
But in terms of the past distribution, banking on him
hitting for the big play each and every week, I
think that's a foolhardy opportunity there.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Let's talk about those wide receivers. I don't think we're
gonna hear Jamison Williams name here in the top five,
but we're about to find out. Mike Carmon, who are
your top five wideouts for week two?
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Now, it's only week two. I get a little wild
and unwooly and disheveled in week nine or ten Dan
in years past. Let's get some of those old standbys
up at the top, including some young guys looking for
bounce backs right off the bat. Another Begal, it's Jamar
Chase rough game last week. Did have a twenty yard
reception but only finished with twenty six receiving yards. Better days,
(09:50):
better days against this Jacksonville squad this week, I think
this is one where we're gonna see fireworks. So on
the other side, Brian Thomas does crack the top five,
we'll get to him in a minute. Ceed lamps seven
catches the tail of two halves a week ago. In
that opener seven for one, ten and then all the
drops well, feed him. I go back to the classic
(10:13):
Broadway production of Little Shop of Horse Feed Me. I
don't know if someone's gonna have to bleed, but that's
what we get. Number three Elik Neighbors on the other side,
twelve targets, only five completions. The moon ball didn't quite
work Week one. Opportunity here against a depleted Dallas secondary
right now, still trying to work its way back in
(10:34):
the shape Bland missing time and digs played just a
small amount of snaps while they might want to ramp
him up a little bit, not a full hundred, so
should be some opportunities to work the ball downfield. I'm
on Ross Aint Brown looking for a high target count
short move those chains between Gibbs and I'm on Rod.
I think you're gonna see a little more semblance, consistency,
(10:58):
and normalcy in a DIVISI showdown against Chicago at home.
And then finally, I'm gonna take Brian Thomas against those Bengals.
Seven targets week what just one catch? Look for a
bounce back this week.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Such a juicy game in a cat fight, if you
will Jaguars and Bengals. The trade for Jacksonville this week
of Tank Bigsby going to of the recent trade of
Tank Bigsby going to Philadelphia may clarify that backfield a
little bit. But I'll tell you what. Brian Thomas getting
(11:31):
into the end zone, Mike, I did so many mocks
of drafts of me drafting Brian Thomas, and then in
the leagues I got to all for three, didn't get
him in Guillotine league, didn't take him in my long
term league, and then in another half point PPR. It
just wasn't set up where I was ever going to
(11:51):
be able to get him in the draft. So kicking
myself already on Brian Thomas chair.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah, well, I mean, look over the course of the year,
he'll have some big games, but you know the way
the board falls. I mean, think about how just disparate
the selection processes between leagues. Right, we did a guarantee
league at work. There's no rhyme or reason to a
lot of those picks correct versus your longtime hometown league.
(12:19):
You know, you know those those figures, and you know
how they they think about football, and very rarely do they,
you know, do it Costanza and do the opposite. So
and look if they listen to the podcast. This is
where it screws you. Dan, being a popular media sort
it comes back to haunt you because Dan really wants
(12:40):
Brian Thomas. What he ain't get Brian Thomas not.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Gonna happen, not at all. I was gonna start to
talk about the Jaguars backfield, and I'm like, well, we're
talking about wide receivers right now, but Brian Thomas was.
It was the apple of my eye. Maybe we will
get into more of the Jacksonville backfield. Something too possibly
foreshadow coming up. He is Mike Carmen and I'm Dan Byer.
That's Ian Roddy, our executive producer. It is Week two
in the NFL. Those are your top five plays at
(13:03):
the quarterback, running back, and wide receiver positions. Who's outside
the top five that you need to get in your
lineup and who shouldn't be in your lineup this week?
Those answers next, and I want your flex. He is
Mike Carmen and I'm Dan Byer. That's Ian Roddy. Mike,
let's get right into it. Your hot plays for week two.
The guys that didn't make the top five, but you
(13:23):
gotta get in your lineup this week.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, let's just grab a couple of those Jaguars right
off the jump, right, all right, let's do it. We
talked with Trevor Lawrence. Right. If we're gonna have Brian Thomas,
let's get him winging the ball out there. I mean,
you're looking at a solid, nuts spectacular stat line going
back to Week one, but succeed and proceed. Bigger opportunities
here as long as you can avoid Hendrickson and deliver
(13:45):
the ball downfield, etn. With that huge week one, obviously
he's got to be in your lineups because well, one
of the great names is gone Tank Bigsby. That's one
of those go find him on your waiver wire because
it's possible that he was dropped or not drafted based
on the side the logo on the side of his helmet,
because he's now insurance and a great opportunity in Philly.
(14:08):
But looking at that Jacksonville side, I'm encouraged by what
we saw a little bit from Travis Hunter. Look at
them to ramp him up a little bit more week two,
So opportunity knocks Drake May against Miami. I kind of
have to push into here, particularly for daily leagues, that
you're gonna get opportunities based on where we're at. Miami
already having players only meetings. Really, really we're at that
(14:30):
after Week one, guys, we got to keep our composure.
I know coach was talking about being one day closer
to death in preseason, but we got a long season
ahead of us. Really not the most inspirationalist speeches, but
for Drake May and company, it's spreading the ball around,
trying to identify that big time target. I mean, Boute
(14:51):
had it in Week one. You're looking at Justin Field's
going up against Buffalo, mostly with his legs right twelve
carries forty eight yards, two touchdowns. That's where we're gonna
find gold a little bit in the passing game, but
think Garrett Wilson could be a little bit more involved.
We saw the back seven for Buffalo struggle in Week one,
no question about it until it mattered and then all
(15:12):
of a sudden, hey, Baltimore didn't know what they were doing. Well,
don't look for that again. But for Justin Fields still
a good back and QB one Schuba Hubbard one of
my favorites going up against Arizona. He had a total
of nineteen touches for eighty nine yards and a touchdown
in Week one. Look for him to replicate that book
based on opportunity, Dan and maybe showcasing for an eventual
(15:35):
trade Devon ah Chan seven carries fifty five yards, did
have a twenty plus yard run, but three catches twenty
yards did find the end zone. I mean, that's the
only thing I can I can definitely bank on right
now out of a Miami offense is the checkdown, hot route.
Just get the ball in his hands and see what happens.
That's not a high level of.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Trust at all.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
No, Trey Benson's coming, He's not there yet. So James
Connor still getting the nod. Found the end zone as
a receiver, just thirty nine yards on the ground in
twelve carries, going up against Carolina again. I'm always intrigued
by these, you know, lower level games, you know the
the easy, you know primetime games. Everybody gets excited about him,
Like I like these little grimy games in the background.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Like the four five Eastern kicks.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
And you know what, while you're on air, Dan, I'm
with you in solidarity. In solidarity, man Nico Collins going
up against Tampa quiet Week one against the Rams, as expected,
we didn't. We didn't look for fireworks in that game,
just three catches for twenty five yards. Look for a
better opportunity here, Marvin Harrison Junior, going back to that game.
(16:44):
Five of six, seventy one and a touchdown and the
one that should have been a ninety eight yard touchdown.
If Kyler just puts a little more air under it,
they get after this week and then the bounce back
because you know he played nice and media, you know
they took it way. What am I gonna do against
his own AJ Brown and his eight yards one catch
(17:05):
in Week one ranking one hundred third on your wide
receiver scoring chart. Look for a better day here up
against that Kansas City defense.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
You know lost in the Ryan Clark Peter Schrager athlete
non athlete. Schrager kind of took a slight at US
fantasy football players. He goes, hey, I'm not fantasy football here,
come on, shregs. It's quite the dilemma between the former
player and non player. By the way, I sided with
Schrager in that. I don't know where Ryan Clark was
(17:35):
coming from.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
It, but Shreg are going to try to sideswipe other
folks like it all feeds the same beast. Who do
you think your audience is when you're an insider or
whatever else? Look, I know where the sausage is made,
I know his history. Pal So like all of that
to say, we're all feasting off of the bohemoth that
(17:55):
is the National Football League and in the end, we're
all entertainers. Right That J for journalism is at least
a lowercase dan, if it's there at all for most
spokes anymore.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Yes, well it's a slippery sliding slope if we use
a bunch of s's. But now when we hear aj Brown,
that's what popped into my head. And Travis Etn, how
about that when I mentioned the Tank Bigsby trade, Now
is probably the time to talk about it. But just
the fact that Travis Etn was thought to be the
back that was being shopped in the preseason. Yeah, and
(18:28):
then one weekend we've got the deal for Bigsby to
go to Philadelphia, where I felt that they had depth,
but maybe just not as much as they would have hoped.
So now, if anything would happen to Saquon Barkley, Tank
Bigsby and Will Shipley would be something in Philadelphia. But
it's interesting that ETN seems to rise from the top
after just that one game.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
You know what, though, Dan, it's another great example. I
think of Howie Roseman just playing a couple moves ahead,
sure right, knowing that there's going to be a marketplace
for running backs. And I think we can already look
around the league and be like, all right, here here,
we watch Washington last night right in division, they're going
to be desperate for a back, and I thought they
would have needed someone even before Eckler got hurt, Like
(19:09):
watching that game start to unfold, like, they don't have
anybody that scares you in the backfield, and so the
opportunity to go and make a preemptive play at probably
a lower price because you're not desperate.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yes, And on the Jacksonville side of things, like kudos
to ETN because I didn't think that people knew how
he was going to fit in Liam Cohen's offense. And
I actually, because he's not as physical, you knew that
he was going to be able to do stuff in
the passing game. But rips off that seventy one yard
run that they had and has shown enough so I
(19:43):
think that he could thrive. So if you took ETN,
I think you're going to be reaping some of those benefits.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Although run him to the wheels fall off if nothing else.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
At this point, let's get to the cold plays where
the wheels maybe have already fallen off, or at least
for a week two. Mike, WHU do we not want
in our lineup? Excuse me? The cold second straight week?
I've done that. The Cold Sores the ones we want
to stay away from in week two?
Speaker 1 (20:05):
See, I think you've just been ranking British bands in
your off time. You went and saw Oasis and now
it's triggered a deep dive into britt pop history. I'll
tell you we'll do that at another podcast.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
By the way, and I like Cold Blay as well.
But I don't know if there's a band called Cold Sores,
but if they are, they're probably awful.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
All right, We're going to try to find him out there.
Maybe we'll book him to do a theme for the show.
How about that. Baker Mayfield got his three touchdowns a
week ago, but that was not a clean looking game.
Seventeen to thirty two for one hundred and sixty seven yards.
Tough matchup against Houston, said what we will about what
their offense did a week ago against the Rams. Defense
(20:49):
lived up to the hype. A lot of short intermediate
stuff to pukuin Dakua. Really the difference in that game.
Jared Goff going up against Chicago, I want to see
it in action. I want to see this offense click
before I push. So he's no better than a mid
two for me this week. And that's not even homersm
that's just a I watched it against the Packers. I'm like,
something's off and maybe it clicks, and maybe it's just
(21:12):
you get home and you're against the Bears and things
go right. But for now, there are better options on
the board. Michael Pennix, junior guy, you and I are
very high on over the course of the year, Brian
Flores in that defense, they got things going after that
opening script by the Bears in week one. I think
he'll have the answer to confuse things. I think he
(21:33):
becomes a high end number two. Like the ceiling's certainly
very high, but I could see that us crashing down
to the floor here, you know, like those elevator things
that you get into in theme parks. Ashton genty going
up against the Chargers. He had twenty one touches. That
was cool. He had forty yards a week ago. Now
you go up against a really tough, aggressive defense, that
(21:55):
front seven will be reloaded for bear in that one.
James Cook going up against the That's the one thing
the Jets do have is a pretty good defensive front.
So looking for it's the Superman cape of Josh Allen
on the ground and not James Cook that get it done. Here?
Might you get a short yardage, little goal line plunge. Sure,
I'm banking on it this week. Taylor going up against Denver,
(22:18):
they looked pedestrian in Week one. Defense had its moments,
for sure, did the Broncos. And I don't know how
to evaluate what I saw with the Goulds in Week one.
We did see a high workload total ninety eight total
yards on twenty one touches for Taylor. I think you're
looking at an eighty eighty one being the ceiling for
(22:40):
him this week, hoping for a goal line opportunity. But again,
Denver defense is one that we hung our hats on
all off season as one of the top units. I
think they show out here Tyreek Hill again, I can't
trust it right. I want to. I want to believe that,
you know, they just try to make everything right, if
(23:01):
nothing else, that he looks good for a potential trade,
barring all the off field legal issues. Did have a
twenty one yard or finished with forty receiving yards on
forty catches, but against New England's defense, it's a no
fly zone for me. Go back to the Tampa offense.
Mike Evans mid number two for me this week. Opportunity right,
he's gonna get his targets, eight targets in week one,
(23:22):
fifty one yards, but a tough go this week against Houston.
I'd be looking to the secondary and tertiary options being
a bigger play here when you look at Abuca and
the other receivers and then finally Hollywood Brown going against Philly.
Am I trusting that they're gonna fall asleep for a
forty nine yard completion. No target count's gonna be high,
and maybe in a PPR league he's still you know,
(23:45):
your back end two or a number three, just based
on opportunity and hope for a jail break. But I
think that's really your only hope that you do get
that jail break.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Those are your cold source four week two. A lot
of my players on this, so I'm a little worried.
I'm sorry, I didn't know it, Mike. It's one of
those weeks. There's also some big name hunting year Jenty,
James Cook, Jonathan Taylor, got those spread out in a
bunch of different leagues. But the name I want to
focus on is Goff, just for the simple reason of
(24:15):
if there's any advantage that the Bears would have against
the Lions, I think it's Ben Johnson knowing Jared Goff. Sure, now,
I don't think that the Bears could do anything if
the Lions are just like, We're going to hand it
off to Gibbs in Montgomery fifty times combined, and that's
what you're going to have to stop. But I do
think that there's a way where Ben Johnson would know
(24:36):
what Jared Goff does well and what he doesn't do well,
and that could play out on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
I have no quibble with that at all. I think
that's absolutely right, because that's been the argument is like,
well they know you Ben Johnson, well he knows them, Yeah,
So like which wins out? Here. I'll go on a
limb that he showed up in a defensive beating room
and it has a larger impact.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Let's get to the Ninjas. The sneaky play that you
want to have for week two? Who do you got, Mike?
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Let's go back to week one. The opponent of those Bears,
JJ McCarthy going up against Atlanta. I liked what I
saw from him in the second half, and it's one
of those you know, the unquantifiable, you know, moxie is
the term we used, like it's not always going to
be pretty and he's not gonna put up massive stat lines.
He only had one hundred and forty three yards in
that game, but you know what made plays with his
legs and those both those touchdown throws were really nice
(25:25):
pieces of orchestration. I think it gets better here against
the Atlanta d BO. Nick's going up against Indy. I
still believe if only for one more week twenty five
and forty only one hundred and seventy six yards a
couple of interceptions, really one of the more uneven outings
that we've seen. Look to see if they can get
it right here in week two. Also a narrow favorite
(25:49):
on the road over Under, and this is one of
those themes for this Weekdan, which is why we have
a lot of cold soares with big time players like
we got a lot of team A lot of these
games are in the low four in terms of the
Vegas odds. Only a couple where we get towards the
maximum threshold. Talking about Jacksonville Cincinnati, a lot of forty
ones and forty two's on the board. And then CJ. Stroud,
(26:11):
let's look for a bounce back going against Tampa again,
trying to figure out how that receiving course shakes out
after Nico Collins, but also being able to make plays
with his legs. I think that's the difference and that's
what gets him in the ninja category this week. Trevion
Henderson going up against Miami, loved the fact that he
was six for six in the pass game. Yeah, only
twenty four yards, but you know what, that's eight point
(26:33):
four points. Bam five carries twenty seven yards. He'll have
a bigger workload. Breese haul against Buffalo. I don't think
they can stop the run. And Breeze Hall a week
ago one hundred and forty five total yards and if
nothing else, another guy that might be showcased for potential
contenders down the road. Tyrone Tracy go. They can't stop
the run now does Do the Giants have enough of
(26:55):
a passing game to where that becomes the issue? Well,
we'll see, but I'm gonna for a touch count and
an opportunity, and again for Russ maybe to be a
little bit better and more accurate than he was in
Week one. He's not mister unlimited anymore, but still some
opportunities out there. And then finally a couple of wide receivers,
Roll Maduonsay going up against Detroit, encouraged by the nine
(27:17):
targets that he had. Look, even if it becomes check
down city again for Caleb Williams, a doonsay making plays
after the catch, Keenan Allen, just sit down in the zone,
make plays. I mean all the guy does is catch
passes seven for sixty sixty eight and the score. In
week one, going up against Vegas team he knows very well.
(27:38):
And look, Justin Herbert has his security blanket back. And
then Ricky piersoll I mentioned him earlier with the Christian McCaffrey.
Note that's all they got, you got two guys, So
Ricky Piersoll becomes one of the most popular year two guys.
Four catches one hundred and eight yards in week one.
He'll be active again this weekend.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
There are your ninja plays four week two. A lot
of intriguing names, guys you were probably excited to get
later on in drafts that now you can put in
your starting lineup and have fun with. Coming up on
Sunday and on Monday, where again there's a Monday night
double header Buccaneers Texans followed by that Chargers Raiders game,
so something to look forward to. You can look forward
(28:18):
to Ian Roddy streaming defenses, plus my Points of Poloza
and Survivor Pick of the Week. It's all next here on.
I want your flex It's time for Harmon to sit
back and relax. Ian Roddy are executive producer, and myself,
Dan Bayer will be doing the dirty work here. I've
got my Points of Palooza and Survivor Pick of the Week.
(28:39):
Ian's got his streaming defenses for week two. Ian take
it away.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
All right, yeah, guys, I've got three for you this week.
Let's start with us the Dallas Cowboys. They're twelve percent
rostered last time I checked in ESPN Leagues is what
I'm going off there. They're playing against the Giants, who
are still starting Russell Wilson at quarterback. I know there
was some dodging of question there by Brian Dable, but no,
it will be Russ starting at quarterback again. And regardless
(29:05):
of who they're thrown under center there, the Giants or somebody,
they're a team we want to target here for streaming defenses.
Russ is the quarterback. He was terrible last week, only
putting up six points with that Giants offense, and the
Dallas defense, which I'm telling you guys to pick up here,
actually looked alright against Philly at times last week. And
Philly is a lot better than the New York Giants are,
(29:26):
so I think they should be a pretty good matchup
for Dallas, regardless of the loss of Micah Parsons. So
there's one for you, Dallas Cowboys. Next up, the San
Francisco forty nine ers are another one, a little bit
more rostered for you there forty seven percent in ESPN Leagues,
so may or may not be out there for you.
But the Niners are playing against Spencer Rattler and the
Saints this week. Saints only managed thirteen points against the
(29:50):
Cardinals last week. As you recall last week, I told
you guys to stream the Cardinals as one of the
defenses that ended up getting you four points, which is,
you know, that's a serviceable day, a streaming defense. But look,
the Niners are a much better defense than the Cardinals,
so streaming them against the Saints, I like that a lot.
I think they're gonna get to the quarterback a lot
more as well, which is a big part of it.
(30:10):
You got Nick Bosa rush in the passer. Nobody on
the Cardinals is of that caliber. Next up the Chargers
six percent rostered, so should be available in most leagues
out there. They are playing against the Raiders and Gino
Smith under center Brock Bauers their best player is questionable
either way, though, I'd feel pretty comfortable starting the Chargers
(30:33):
defense here. Gino Smith took four sacks last week. I
think the Chargers pass rush is probably better, so I'm
still still excited about that. And then the Chargers should
be playing with a lead for most of the game
as well, so more turnover opportunities in theory. So yeah,
that's what I got.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Some popular names at least brand wise in the NFL.
What do you like with these defenses?
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Well, you look at the Cowboys. The run game is
going to be the thing that that you know, causes
problems but should be able to get after Russell Wilson
and and even if they move the ball between the twenties,
you're not giving up a lot of big plays. The
potential is just not there. For the forty nine Ers,
it's it's Rattler, you know everything Ian spoke to a
(31:17):
forty and a half total in this one. This might
be just the Hey, let's use McCaffrey and Robinson a
lot and grind it out. But if San Francisco does
get up early and Rattler has to press, the feeding
frenzy is on. And then finally, I mean the Chargers
going up again, going out into Las Vegas, the one
to cap the weekend. Gino Smith, I mean you watched
(31:41):
him in Seattle. We watched a guy that he'll still
put the ball in harm's way on occasion. But here
it's more banking on being able to shut them down
from a scoring proposition. For me, you've got as Ian
laid out Bowers being questionable mayor may have may have
earned some extra love. He had a couple of blows
that got him rewarded with catches in week one, so
(32:03):
we'll see if they're able to make some hey there.
But what we do know is against that offensive line,
it's still a work in progress for the Raiders. I
would suspect that the Chargers get home and maybe maybe
you get one of those strip sacks that completely takes
the Raiders fan base and all the painted faces to
tier down.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
I'm excited to watch what happens on Monday night. I
had considered Chargers Raiders for my points of Palooza. Didn't
make it, so maybe the Chargers d can step up,
but that will be the better of the two games.
Even though I do like the NFL saying let's put
Bucks Texans. How often do we see this matchup? It's
kind of, you know, funky AFC versus NFC. But Chargers
(32:46):
Raiders should be pretty interesting.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Fun doubleheader. I mean again, Tampa and Houston two teams
that great expectations, so why not get it in one
of these early windows.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Here's my point to Palooza four Week two. Can't pick
Jaguars and Bengals because that's the highest point total sitting
there at forty eight and a half at the time
of this recording. I go down a little bit, Mike,
and I was actually happy when you mentioned quarterbacks because
I'm looking at how does this play out this week?
(33:19):
Where do we like to see points? I'm gonna double dip. Okay,
I think points of Palooza Panthers Cardinals. Oh, I love it,
and my Survivor pick of the week Cardinals. So I'm
double dipping in that one game. And we talked about
the hidden gems at four or five Eastern time. What
(33:40):
do you know on CBS shown two point two percent
of the country will be Cardinals Panthers. That is where
I am double dipping this week. So I give you
my points of Palooza Panthers Cardinals sitting there at forty
four and a half. I think the weather delay kind
of messed with Carolina last week. We'll see if the
offense gets in a better run of things. And I
(34:00):
do think that Arizona could put up some points. So
give me Panthers Cardinals, with the Cardinals being my survivor
pick as well.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Yeah, Cardinal's big favorite at home in this one. Again
a team we liked with all the defensive moves they
made this offseason, but waiting to see how that clicks offensively.
Kyler Murray, we know he's always going to start fast.
Then it just becomes a question of where is that cliff?
So for this week, let's get after it. I want
to see some more Bryce Young and Ted McMillan get
(34:27):
after it. And of course, you know, my love, I
might have a Chuba Hubbard tattoo on my meaty calf.
I don't know, we'll see.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Here's here's one other bit with Carolina Arizona. I went
to a Panthers Cardinals game in Arizona in two thousand
and seven. Kurt Warner made an appearance. Tim Ratay played
most of the action for the Cardinals, but the starting
quarterback for the Panthers was Vinny Testa Verdi. Oh my god, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
That's one of those if we sat down and you
plunked one hundred dollars down, I said, how many teams
did Vinnie play for? Carolina? Alina might be the one
that you forget right?
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Yes, and they won twenty five to ten. Wow, I
had I had to go look it up again to see, like,
all right, how did this? You know how this all
play out. But I just remember Vinie Testa Verdi played
for the Panthers and they ended up winning twenty five
to ten. That may have been a score of gami too.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Who knows, well, we had one of those the other night, right,
the Sunday Night gets yes.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
And NBC did not give credit to score a gami?
Speaker 1 (35:28):
How dare they?
Speaker 3 (35:29):
Yes? Who do you think you are?
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Wow? All right, let's let's play the Vinnie Testaverdi game
while we're here, Dan, Okay, you want to do this?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Sure? All right?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
We got Carolina, so you got that one off the board.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Yes, Buccaneers obviously where he was drafted. We know the
success with the Jets. There was a time with the Ravens.
I'm trying to go through my lexicon of teams. How
many do we know? How many total? You have it
(36:00):
in front of you?
Speaker 1 (36:00):
They I do, Okay, we have one, two, we have
three more?
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Oh boy, oh gosh, Testaverdi. So we got Jets, Panthers, Buccaneers, Ravens. Okay,
I don't think NFC West. I don't think NFC North. Cowboys, Yes,
(36:31):
Cowboys are two thousand and four, yep, I do remember
that through.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Twenty interceptions, against seventeen touchdowns, the fourth time that he
led the league in that category.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Gosh, I'm thinking not a charger or not. I'm just
going through the divisions. That's literally like where I'm going.
Oh man, I'm blanking on the other two.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
All right?
Speaker 3 (37:00):
Hardmore was he? No?
Speaker 1 (37:01):
No, he's part of the rich tapestry and woeful history
of a team that's gone through thirty plus quarterbacks in.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
There, Browns.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
There you go. That was Tampa, Tampa to Cleveland to Baltimore.
And then two thousand and six he appeared in three
games for the New England Patriots.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Waw.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
He never got two of three for twenty nine yards
and a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
I am I'm mad. I blanked on the Browns. That's
a really bad job by me. But I never would
have gotten the New England.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
I know that, like literally, it's a cup of coffee.
In two thousand and six, and then he came back
in two thousand and seven.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
That's that's magnificent.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
H next level stuff. Now sixty one years old. Football
legend Vinnie Testavery.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Oh great stuff. I'm gosh, yeah, I'm a lot of
teams though it is, and and like funky teams as well,
like Carolina early Ravens. It was early Ravens at.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
That that's it. Well, I mean, that's shit. They would
have just moved right because now we're commemorating anniversary of.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Yes, which, which by the way, makes it even worse
that I missed the Browns. Come on, Dan, step of
your game. Hopefully things will be better for me in
week two. But we got five out of the seven
at least.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
There you go. Well, we'll find another Journeyman quarterback to
discuss in the next episode.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
And again, all that happened before Ian Roddy was born,
So there we go for Ian Roddy and Mike Harmon.
I'm Dan Byer, we're old, but we hope you're a winner.
Talk to you next time, and I want your flex
