That's UMGC dot edu. You'll learn such things as what
it means to be owen three in college football, Yes,
seven minutes ago in the fourth quarter on the Big
Ten Network.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
The Intricate's A buyouts.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
UCLA is about to fall into last place in the
Mountain West. UH New Mexico leads UCLA twenty eight to ten.
They have outscored UCLA fourteen to nothing in the fourth quarter.
They have run for two hundred and twenty four yards
on the night, UCLA is gonna fall to oh and three.
(01:36):
And you know, just before we get to a couple
of big NFL games to preview, give you our picks.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Man, this is just sad. What's happened to UCLA?
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Right Nico Amlaava is having an OK night, one hundred
and seventy nine in a touchdown is run for thirty
three yards. But this is oh and three. You haven't
even gotten to your to your Big ten schedule. You
lose UNLV in New Mexico. I mean, this is just
really sad because UCLA has settled into being a nice
seven eight win team, which is kind of what you
(02:05):
can expect joining the Big Ten being UCLA, because you're
clearly not the programming we're in the nineties.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
You had some really rough years.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Like in the in the teens and and where you
are like three and nine and four and eight and wow,
it's tough, but you settled into like seven eight wins, okay,
and now Deshaun Foster's taking over five and seven last
year and now you're starting zero to three. You're not
even tanking for arch Manning. Like, this is just sad
to see what you It's not even the you know
when I talk about being a sports stonehenge where like
(02:34):
Ucla football people nobody remembers Ucla football being good now
for like thirty years. This is just they're completely becoming irrelevant.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
This is a sad thing to see.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Man, Dude, we're rolling it back to the Bob Toledo
era and then a little bit of Carl Durell. I
mean he finished with a plus five hundred record, New
Housle Goes twenty one and twenty nine, Jim Mora forty
six and thirty. I mean, who would I think you'd
be crying for the glory days of Jim Mora. But
that's where we're at at this point. It fits with
(03:06):
a six o five winning percentage. Then Chip Kelly had
its highlights but highly paid disappointment. And now you look
at de Sean Foster. He signed that five year, twenty
five million dollar deal. Everybody's like, oh, I want a
bargain compared to the last guy.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
You sure about that? You sure about that? You sure
about that? Five minutes. She's just your homer.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Yeah. I mean it's just and and everything that he's done.
And to use your phrase, you talk about headlines, what
do we get every media session when they actually do them?
Because that's a whole other part that's going on at
UCLA is the secretive nature of things, kicking reporters out,
not being allowed to watch different parts of practice, whatever.
(03:49):
But every time Deshan Foster say, get Watson in there
in the brain, Deshan Foster's gone in front of a
podium to talk about the program, it's a disaster. Yeah, right,
joining Big ten saying it's been a disaster.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I mean this is not like no, but it's been good.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
No, But I'm just saying like he at least, you know,
you lost all of those in terms of the pageantry
of it, Like you couldn't even win that, you couldn't
even win the hey hype game of here's how we're
gonna recruit, here's how we're gonna build the program, et cetera.
Like you lost all of those right off the jump,
so you get no benefit of the doubt when it
comes to on field play, you get you got the
(04:25):
big move to bring in a name quarterback. He's a guy.
He's a guy because the rest of the squad is subpar,
would be the kind way. And I say all this
ahead of I think they've got Northwestern is the next
matchup after Northwestern has h Oregon this week.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, so we'll have.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
More college football coming up in about fifteen minutes because
we have another big game to break outside again. Why
we said this week, college football own Friday night like
the NFL owns Thursday night. Instead of a couple of
nice games here on Friday, put one big game on
every Friday. Make it a package. You'll sell it. You'll
(05:05):
make more money. You will own two days in the calendar.
You will own Friday night.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
People.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
You people can still go see high school football games.
They're still gonna go see those games. Other people are
still gonna stay home to watch Texas and play Ohio
State or USC in Michigan. You're still everything. There's enough
for everybody. It can still be absolutely fine, But it's
wide open for college football to tame.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Telling you, I'm.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Looking at one sports book. It's now off the board.
But this was great, right pregame UCLA fifteen and a
half point favorites. It's now been taken off the board.
The last line that was available was UCLA plus twelve
and a half.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Ooh wow, And I think I would say no.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I don't know if I'm getting ahead of myself. This
will be the last game that UCLA is favored in
all season. I don't think they'll be favored in another
one man, But it's a big week in the NFL,
and obviously spending a lot of time tonight breaking down
looking forward at the games. Two of the biggest games
on Sunday we're going to get into right now, and
(06:08):
none bigger than the Chiefs and the Eagles. Right we
had the Super Bowl rematch here in week two, both
teams coming in obviously dinged up right, and the Chiefs
are gonna be up without Rashid Rice for at least
the next five weeks and most likely without Xavier Worthy,
who's officially listed as doubtful after Travis Kelcey ran him
(06:28):
over last week.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Jason real Quick, Who's who's he gonna run over?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
This week? This home? No, this week is Hollywood Brown.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
It's gonna take Hollywood out.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah, it's gonna take how it's good. Yeah, okay, hello Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Yeah, So Hollywood Brown will be out this week. Then
next week we'll start working on Juju Smith Schusters.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
I think they ripped the pages of crossing patterns off
the out of the playbook.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
You now, just think about that scene from Necessary Roughness
where Robert Lojer was coaching the team and the play
didn't work and he ripped it out of the playbook,
threw it away, running out one again.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Robert Kloja. Oh for oh my god, it's Robert Loja.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Now you hear every expert and fan say the same thing.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Chiefs are gonna win.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
They're at home. They're not gonna start oh to two.
They're the Chiefs. We don't see the Chiefs start owing two.
They're the Chiefs. I got news for you. The Chiefs
will start knowing too. Okay, this is still the same
Eagles team from the Super Bowl. It is not even
the same Kansas City Chiefs team that got steamrolled by them. Okay,
just look back at last week. Was the Eagles offense great?
(07:36):
No Week one? But the defense was so good against
a really good Cowboys offense. Say what you want about
Jerry Jones and Michaeh Parsons, there's a lot of talent
on that Cowboys offense. And the Eagles defense looked terrific.
And this is without their best defensive player, who of
course got thrown out before they even played a snap
because he's spin at Dak Prescott. You're looking at a
(07:56):
Chiefs team coming in without two of their biggest webss. Offensively,
they're two best wide receivers. This is not gonna be
a game that they're gonna be able to win. Everything
I said about the Chiefs before the season is gonna
continue to beat you. I'm stock up on Patrick Mahomes
having a big year numbers wise, but overall, these teams
the Chiefs are playing are better than they are. They're younger,
(08:18):
they're more talented, and clearly that the Eagles are still
a more talented team. The Chiefs start knowing too. I
know it's at home. I know it's not gonna happen.
Not gonna happen. The Chiefs are still the champs. And
I'll give you this bold prediction. Jalen Hurts goes for
three hundred yards, They're gonna try to stop sakuon Barkley
and make Jalen Hurts beat them through the air, because
that's really the only thing you can do. And with
(08:40):
no Dallas Goddard, yes, third downs might be a little
more challenging now, obviously because the security blanket's not there.
But I think they have enough offensively to be able
to make this happen. And Jalen Hurts will have a
big game. We've seen him have big games. He was
great in the Super Bowl. We saw him do that.
It'll be another big statement here for the Eagles. They'll
be two and and the Chiefs will be zero to two,
(09:02):
and at best they're staring at a two and four
start to the regular season.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
I mean, it is truly a fascinating game, chess match.
See what Spagnola is able to do. Defensively, Clearly they
didn't have any answers over in Brazil, absolutely decimated. And
the most worrisome thing is the offensive line looked a
lot like you know, when they played the Eagles to
finish off last season, and well here you are again
(09:27):
with no semblance of a run game at all. I
think AJ Brown gets himself a little bit more involved.
He said all the right things. He towed the company
line as best he could after the quiet week one.
But you look at what the Eagles were still able
to do offensively against Dallas, even though Saquon Barkley didn't
(09:48):
have a big game. Jalen Hurts did a lot of
dancing into the secondary without getting touched. I don't know
that Kansas City necessarily has the answer for that.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Last I saw, we were looking at a one or
one and a half point line with the Eagles a
narrow road favorite.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
I think you can get after the secondary a little bit. Oh,
if you can avoid Jalen Carter, who's still mad about
losing fifty seven thousand dollars and getting kicked out of
a game. So uh yeah, good luck. The Kansas City
hangs around. I'm load to like, I don't want to
do the Oh they can't start ohing too like, that's
just they can.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
They can.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
I don't think they do. I think they get a
home win because it's it's weak two.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
It's not I'm not gonna, you know, sound the alarms
just yet total.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
I'm willing to throw out there that I'm on out
on a limb.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
That's because I know full well, there's gonna be some
kind of targeting call or a leak or a pass
interference or something that's gonna I expected.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
That from me for Oscar. I didn't expect that for you. Now.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
This is why I'm out on a limb with this.
That's why it's just such a It's why I like this.
But it's why it's a little bit of element of
danger to it because I know clearly at the end of
a game on fourth and ten, it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Be that was a past we got a flag.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
No, No, what's gonna happen is he does one of those
runs like he did against the Chargers, and instead he
steps out of bounds and he draws the penalty because
the defender comes up to engage for the would be
tackle in big blow, figuring that he's going to lower
his shoulder. By the way, Jordan Love did that yesterday
ahead of a first down with his throwing shoulder. He
(11:24):
dived into there. So that was fun. Anytime touchdown score
Barkley Munt is one fifty two, hurtz Mine is one
twenty two, and then Kelsey is the third favorite at
plus one forty. I gotta think that they worked on
the timing that should have walked into the end zone
touchdown where Mahomes was a step too far with the
throw on Kelsey back to the opener. So we'll see
(11:46):
if they can make Peter this time.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
The other game.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
That's absolutely high noon for a quarterback, as if this
could be his final start in the NFL if it
doesn't go well, it is high noon for Russell Wilson
Giants and the Cowboys. Bad game and he is out
and the Jackson Dart era begins. Look, Brian Dabele couldn't
even commit to him until twenty four hours after week
What could even say that Russell Wilson's gonna start again?
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Right?
Speaker 1 (12:13):
So, you know, another bad game and you can't stop
the momentum of the fans and the franchise that need
some sort of spark. And you drafted Jackson Dart in
the first round. He looked the part, He looked ready
in the preseason. It's not that you're throwing a guy
out there that, eh, maybe he's ready, maybe he's not.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
We don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Everything you wanted him to do he was able to
do in the preseason. Everybody wants to keep their jobs.
Joe Shane wants to keep his job. Brian David wants
to keep his job. They want to be the guy saying, yes, hey,
Jackson Dart's our guy. You're a week away from it. Now,
Here's where iSIG when you think I'm gonna zag? Because
I told you he's getting the job by October first.
Wilson will do enough on Sunday to keep the job
(12:53):
for another week. Dallas's defense is hurt. It's not great.
He will play well enough for a win, because they're
not going to win this game, but enough where he'll
keep the job for a week. And and and I
don't mean like, well he's gonna go for three hundred
and three touchdowns, I mean two hundred and a touchdown
might be.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Enough for him to keep the job.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
As long as his completion percentage is big and and
and he moves the team up and down the field
a little bit, that might be enough for him to
do it one week. And I think Dallas's defense is
not quite there yet. So I can see, knowing full
well that Wilson knows he's looking at the end of
his NFL career every week, every time he goes.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Out there and takes a snap on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Uh, he'll stay it for a week and then we'll
get into it that the next couple of weeks it
will fall apart. They'll find a nice soft spot for
Jackson Dart at the end of the month. But Wilson,
Wilson stays his his fall. And I'll give you this
bold prediction because he screamed for he screamed on the
sideline last week. Moleak Neighbors ten receptions this week, and
(13:52):
everybody calms down a little bit. But he's gonna go
after him and try to force feed him the football
because he's got to keep Melik Neighbors happy. He's the
giants future, the best player. They have ten receptions in
the loss of the Giants this week, Look at you.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
I'm gonna take them to win out right. Five catches
on twelve targets a week ago. Look, you got the
russ plays well enough to hold Dart off. You can
go down the all right, Darts just not ready. And
then you have those saying, well, if he goes in
and fails, you may lose him forever. Like if that's
if that's what you're worried about, then you drafted the
wrong ass guy. But I'll take I'll take the passing
(14:26):
game in the moon Ball to work against the depleted
Dallas secondary exit.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
Harmon muche hoobo.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
So I got a big question for you, harm hit
me put you on the spot right now. Who wins
a game next?
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Ucla or the Mets? Who wins a game next? For
the sake of the bit, I have to say Ucla.
But the problem is their next game. I mean they
have to lose because it's it's it's Northwestern, is it not?
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Yes? It is Northwestern? Yes?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Yeah, So yeah they have to lose that because that's
a road game.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
I'm gonna go Ucla. The Mets aren't winning.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Next week it's Northwestern then Penn State. So that's all
good luck with dad.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Yeah, that'll be a little bit for them if they
lose next lose to you guys next week.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
By the way, I wanted to go into the cul
de Sac for a second and bring us back to
that Chief Eagles thing to show folks how bold you are.
You know what the over under for Jalen Hurts passing
yards is?
Speaker 3 (17:04):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Two oh seven and a half. He's gonna blow past it.
Big game, big Look, the Chiefs clearly what they didn't
do in the Super Bowl, what they're gonna try to
do now. The Eagles offense did not look as sharp
as it could have been. They're gonna say, Okay, what's
our best way to win this game. Let's make we're
We're gonna make Jalen Hurts beat us. Right, We're not
(17:26):
gonna let Saquon Barkley do it, and let's see if
Jalen Hurts can do it without Dallas Goddard. It's not
gonna matter. He's still gonna find a way. He's gonna
throw the foot. They're gonna throw the football all day
and it's gonna be a Jalen Hurts game. It's they're
just a better team. The Chiefs offenses is lacking so
much with playmakers and the defense. Again, it's the same
(17:46):
Eagles team that won the Super Bowl and it's not
even close to the same Chiefs team that was there.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
And the Chiefs can belong on the same field as
the Eagles, and.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
We well, it's just funny though, like all of the offseasons,
like look at all the favors they did for the Chiefs, right,
and then there was a lot with the Rashi Rice
as to when a Ruley would come down. It's like,
well he's gone whereth he gets hurt? And that front
loaded schedule, I don't know who the hell saw that
as a favor. Yeah, what's these matchups often jump, but
either way, you know, as we look at the odds
(18:15):
right now, Bill's Packers. Packers now installed as the number
two squad Ravens Eagles Chiefs, So your top five right
on the outside looking in a little bit of a
gap between the Chiefs. And then for at least one
more week, the Chargers now at eighteen to one.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
We got more NFL coming up in a few Minutes's
gonna give you more picks for the big games coming
up this Sunday.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
We talked Chiefs and Eagles. A few minutes, they'll get
ready for chiefsh and two.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
So tonight in college football, we watched Colorado get beat
pretty badly by Houston. It was Houston got out to
an early lead and Colorado scored a couple of touchdowns
in the second quarter. You think, Okay, maybe they're gonna
make it a little bit closer, and Colorado's better than
you think. No, no, no, Houston runs away with it. Thirty
(19:02):
six twenty. They win this game. And the big story
coming in was Colorado going to their third string quarterback,
Ryan Stall who throws for two hundred and a touchdown,
but he also throws two picks. Colorado's offense went nowhere.
And I'll tell you what. There's angry, And there's Deon
Sanders on the sideline for the majority of the game
against Houston with his arms folded, staring out of his team.
(19:24):
And it reminded me of like when I was a
kid and I was walking somewhere, like walking home, and
I saw like my mom or my dad and my grandfather,
and they're staring at me with their arms fold, and
I just know they're gonna yell at me for something
I am. And the closer I get, I know the
closer him to being yelled at, and I don't know
what they're mad about, but they're gonna yell. That's what
Dion Sanders looked like on the sideline tonight watching Colorado
(19:45):
fall to one and two own one of the Big twelve.
Houston nearly doubles their final score thirty six to twenty
this start for this year. Mike is on Dion because
he comes off the last two years where he had
a star studded team, or at least a top heavy
star studded team with Shadoor Sanders and Travis Hunter, and
Shador Sanders was really good, right, and you forget about
(20:08):
the fact that he fell to the fifth round in
the NFL Draft. There's a difference. He was a really
good college football quarterback, right. He had that position taken
care of as long as Deion Sanders could play his kid.
He was a great head coach, right, because Chador was
good at FCS. He was really good at the at
the at the big time D one level, right, he
was a really good quarterback. But now here's Dion. The
(20:30):
first time he's got a coach without his kid, and
what has he done the.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
First three weeks?
Speaker 1 (20:34):
He has played three quarterbacks, big minutes. He sends his
high profile transfer to the bench after a game and
a half. Right, everybody wanted Caden Salter in the in
the in the portal. Right, he was the number one
seat quarterback out there. I wanted Syracuse to get him
on good as we got Steve Angeli. He's terrific, but
(20:54):
everybody wanted him, right, big dual thread quarterback. He doesn't
have a great game Week one, but he plays well enough.
The end of the first game, the final drive is terrible.
Colorado doesn't use the field or their timeouts and they lose.
What does the UNA do the next game? I'm gonna
let three quarterbacks play. What the hell are you doing?
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Man?
Speaker 1 (21:12):
You just spend an entire spring and summer trying to
figure out who your stars are, and after one week
and you lose, You're gonna play three guys. He gives
three quarterbacks two series each, right, and Salter gets the
first two and stob comes in as the third quarterback
and plays really well, right, plays the best out of all.
Guess what, he's my starter now in week three?
Speaker 3 (21:32):
What the hell are you doing? Man?
Speaker 1 (21:34):
How is this a path to winning? Your Team's gotta
know who's our quarterback?
Speaker 3 (21:38):
What are we doing?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
There's no way of getting into any sort of rhythm
because it's.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Three different guys. You have to block for three different guys.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
You have to know how does the ball come out,
how does he like to throw it wide receivers?
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Three different guys. I gotta get used to.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yes, they see him at practice all the time, but
now we're throwing all these guys in the games like
this is the worst way to run a team, and
Dion clearly showing that, Hey what, I don't have my
kid playing quarterback.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I don't know what I'm doing.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
This start is entirely on him, because you could be
one and two and still at least have some sort
of semblance of this is our plan. Give Cayden Salter
a chance to win the job and play well. And look,
and Caden Salter led into ten points right first two
drives last week, touchdown in a field goal. Okay, still nope,
not gonna play. And then here comes Ryan Stop. You
(22:25):
can play the hot hand at a lot of positions. Right,
you can play the hot hand at running back, play
the hot hand at receiver, at tight end, safety, defensive back,
whatever it is. You can't just sit here and go
I'm gonna try to find the hot handed quarterback. It's
not middle of the season where you're two and five
and your bowl hopes are all but gone and you're
trying to throw a hail Mary and get a quarterback
(22:45):
and maybe you get in a run with and you
get some good mojo going for the rest of the
season and maybe take that into bowl season.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
This is week one.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
He decides, I'm gonna completely blow up this quarterback spot
and make it seem like we don't even know what
kind of team we are. This start for d On,
the offensive start for Colorado. This is all in him,
because clearly when he can't put his when he couldn't
put his kid out there, this is where you're at, right.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
But there's the difficult part of it is that you
had two guys, at least at the collegiate level. Right,
we play the and there's a home run for t
bow thing or whatever. He's still considered, if not the
greatest college quarterback of all time, one of the best. Well,
Shador Sanders had a hell of a run. Did it
translate to winning wins and losses? No, because you didn't
have the rest of the roster, right, that wasn't there.
(23:26):
It was him, It was Travis Hunter. He had a
couple of good receivers, guys that have gotten cups of
coffee in the NFL, et cetera. But you're you're looking
at a roster that was already a hey, we're barely
above five hundred with two top level college players, and
now that relationship to all of that, and then you
had Shiloh Sanders, who you know, he's gonna be most
(23:49):
notable for not getting any money out of his preseason
or anything, because well he was fined a heavy amount
of money for his his punch to a guy. But
that to say, they leave and I get Dion tremendous credit.
We've been doing the show a while and when he
got hired, a part of the thinking was, well, he'll
be there long enough for his kids to play.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Right.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Well, he decided he was going to come back, even
with all the health issues he's had, and that's well chronicled.
He had that press conference where everybody thought he was
gonna step away. No, and he doubled down and he
came back. But the problem is you still need to
have a plan. Right It's the old Gil Brandt line
to you, what's your system right now? The system was
(24:31):
Sanderson a hunter, and right now you're just throwing darts
at a board. That's not gonna be very comforting to
your backers, your boosters, your fan base as you're trying
to say, hey, we're building. Because you start looking down
the road, He's like, all right, is now the point
where he's looking to dip or is it just the
(24:53):
Since we don't have a plan, we just shuffle up
and deal and try to find a good fit and
ride a hot hand for a minute, because that's clearly
what he did at the quarterback position, rolling in here
and we got our rusty Stob jokes in and that
was all finding good. But they got absolutely boat raced
by the Houston Cougars. Hey cougars are up to three,
and oh that's great, but there was nothing here. You
(25:16):
had two big runs, one by Stob, one by Simeon Price.
He finished with five carries fifty one yards and a
touchdown thirty eight yard run. Otherwise you got a whole
lot of nothing you had outside of his thirty eight
yard run and that twenty nine yard are from stob
I mean, that's sixty seven of your ninety six yards.
(25:37):
That is not winning football. And that was when it
was still a game. You weren't able to get anything done.
And then the second half was an absolute no show effort.
You're only find some consolation that UCLA in front of
a crowd of fifteen was that much worse.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
I mean the pictures of the Rose Bowl to see
that crowd, I mean really, I say to myself, can
they afford two million dollars for a malayava after? That's
the crowd at the game tonight.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
I don't know, man, I werena have to have a
car wash or something going on.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
I mean it looks like that that would be the
crowd if you would say, hey, out at the Rose
Bowl today, there's a swap meet.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
You know, there's you know what, damn good to get
a better crowd for the swap meet.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Swap meat would have more people.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
This would be where, hey, this is gonna be where
we're having a local band day, where like local bands
come and play and you get to go.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Hear him, and that's kind of what the crowd would
be at this game.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
It was, this is unbelievable. Man. You might as well
have a couple of buskers outside and see what you
can come up with.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Oh terrible.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
We're gonna have some picks of the big games in
college football tomorrow coming up in ninety seconds. But now
time to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports. But God has been called the Tanner Scott
of Fox Sports Radio. Every time he comes in, you
think grand Slam. It's fat to say.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
That he is just I'll just be kind. He has
not been good since he returned. We'll get to baseball
at a moment and the tight races here in September.
But yes, UCLA football is zero and three after losing
at the Rose Bowl thirty five to ten to New
Mexico tonight. Kansas State one and three after losing the
game on Fox TV tonight at Arizona twenty three seventeen
(27:21):
Arizona Wildcats three and oh and Houston's three and oh.
After beating one in two Colorado thirty six twenty it
was thirty three fourteen in the fourth Cougars went five

a shoulder injury, is off. The injury report Packers wide

Germany won it's EuroBasket semifinal, as did Turkey, which defeated
Greece ninety four to sixty eight. Gianis Antenacumpo twelve points
(28:46):
twelve rebounds in defeat. Each winner today is now eight
to zero in this tournament for Germany Dennis Shrud twenty
six points twelve assists for Turkey, Alpa and Shngoon fifteen
points in their win. The WNBA Playoffs starts Sunday, and yes,
the Giants won on a Grand Slam in San Francisco,
whatever in the tenth inning, beating the Dodgers five to one.
(29:08):
The Dodgers are still two and a half games over
the Padres in the NL West. Padres lost at home
to last place Colorado four to two. The Rockies end
a six game losing streak. The great news for the
Giants they're only a half game out of the last
NL wildcard behind the Mets, who all mention in a
moment by the way Dodger third baseman Max Munsey left
to night's game hit by a pitch on the arm
(29:29):
x Rays negative Dodger catcher Will Smith did not play
due to a bruised hand. The A's hit three homers
and shut out the Cincinnati Reds three to nothing. Red
struck out fourteen times. Seattle won its seventh game in
a row, two to one over the Angels. Houston was
up eleven nothing in the six wound up winning eleven
three at Atlanta. Houston and Seattle still tied for first
(29:50):
in the Al West. Texas two back. The Rangers have
won five in a row. Jacob de Grom got the
win in New York, beating the Mets eight three, the
offense six runs in the top of the first to
Gram went seven innings. Yeah, the Mets have lost seven
in a row and Philadelphia has one.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Third seven game losing streak of the season.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Steve sounded really excited about de Gram's effort tonight.
Speaker 7 (30:12):
I thought you were gonna say in the last three
weeks row, that's what it feels. Phillies have won five straight,
eight to two over Kansas City, and Walker Buehler went
five innings for the win. The Phil's magic number to
clinch the division already down to three Cubs and Brewers
each one. Washington sent Pittsburgh to a seventh straight loss.
Minnesota with three and the ninth edged Arizona nine eight.
(30:32):
Cody Clemens of the Twins three homers. Cleveland shut out
the White Sox for nothing. Winner Tanner Bybee a complete game,
two hitter, ten strikeouts, and Miami beat Detroit and Tarrek
Scooble eight to two. Scooble was out in the fourth
inning with left side tightness. Toronto and the Yankees each one.
Blue Jays are first in the AL, still three games
over the Yanks, now four and a half up on
(30:54):

had six hitless innings. He was out after ninety three pitches.
The Toronto win was six to one against Baltimore. Vladimir
Guerrero Junior three hits. The O's as a team had
three hits.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen live from the Fox
Sports Radio Studios. So tomorrow, two big games right that
are are gonna gain a lot of attention. The first one,
A and M and Notre Dame. And I know that
Notre Dame's coming off the lost Week one to Miami.
It's high noon for them, right, It's high noon for
Russell Wilson, Right, he could lose his job. It's high
(31:35):
noon for Notre Dame. You lose this game and suddenly
everything is it could be out the window playoff wise.
But the good news is you don't have that tough
schedule after this game. And it's A and M, and
I think Notre Dame is gonna be fine. Right, this
is one of the big, high profile, Top twenty five games.
They'll be run heavy. They know they have to run
the football. When they had a couple of really good
(31:56):
running backs level get the ball a lot.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
CJ.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Carr was good enough versus Miami at home with the pressure.
I don't think they just win this game. I think
they win big. Notre Dame as every bit as good
as they were a year ago. They lost a tough
game Week one against a team that's gonna wind up
being a top four team this year in college football.
Because I'm pretty confident Miami's even better than.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
They were last year.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Carson Beck is exactly what they need coming off of
that year where they kind of underachieved. They lost three
games and they had to pull out some others.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
This is a.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Different Miami team. I think Miami is back. They were
a great team Notre Dame. Losing that one, I feel
really good about them tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Yeah, Miami will still wait and see some on the
defensive side, but certainly the offense looks every bit as
potent as it did under cam Ward.
Speaker 7 (32:42):
A and M.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
A six and a half point dog on the road
at Notre Dame. Carr doesn't have the same mobility as
Riley Leonard, but it looks like he's gonna be every
bit the part in terms of throwing the ball. They've
got good balance. Jeremiah Love back for another run. Fifty
and a half is your total. A and M's offense,
I don't know is dynamic enough. And I think going
(33:03):
on the road is gonna prove a tough task, uh
for the fighting Irish. You know me, it's difficult southside Chicago,
guy who didn't go there. I stand out like a
sore thumb.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
You know that.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
I that I didn't adopt them as my squad, But
I'm gonna take him here to lay the points and
start their role. That's a pretty good well defined team
there for coach. Meanwhile, oh my, hang on, it's the
Rangers are continue.
Speaker 5 (33:29):
We don't start.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
The Jacob de Grom Rangers party. Been raging all night
here in the studio. Yeah, yeah, Hey, they.
Speaker 8 (33:40):
Can swing a little bloop out of the right field
of trust and the guys run is across Peterson in
the third and in the first pitch two and he'll
shoot down one to the alley in lutfield.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
That gets down Mason.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
Peterson is in and the Bluebirds.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Do come out early.
Speaker 5 (33:57):
That was the first inning. Blue Birds not over yet.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Every time in.
Speaker 8 (34:04):
Stars three two and there's a swing and that's down
the third baseline.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
That one is down a base.
Speaker 5 (34:16):
All the first inning.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Jason, You know when you when you when you play that,
I like have trouble breathing, like I'm inhaling ash and sand.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Dust Like when you play that, I just go, I
can't breathe. This is so upsetting.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
I'm in haling dust and sand and it's I can't even.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Yeah, exactly, are you helped her hindered by the thumping
beat that's also hitting you in the chest at that point.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
To try to breathe. I can't. It's so upsetting. Six
runs in the.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
First time, Mike, what's your beef party music?
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Man?
Speaker 4 (34:52):
Oh, I got no issue with it at all. I'm
just wondering if that helps her hinders because he's at
least trying to breathe to a rhythm, or is it
just kind of crush his soul if he does have
the you know, the subwoofer turned all the way.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Up, exit out by to Frasca exit Swollen Dome. Jason
Smith Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
So while the de grond party continues.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Coming up next, we'll pick the big game in college
football tomorrow and two more of the biggest on Sunday
in the NFL. Can one quarterback duplicate his Week one
performance that nobody thinks he can?
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Maybe he actually can. That's next right here, Jason and Mike.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
