Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this part.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
Oh, welcome to the Jacob de Gram Party, America. Pull
up a chair because we are partying, just like Jacob
de Gram did on the mound at City Field.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Alex, are you partying?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
I'm so turned up right now.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I know Steve's partying. Steve passing the logo Mike, are
you partying?
Speaker 5 (00:54):
I've got a disco ball spin in like you would
not believe.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Jason, what about you?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
I am all for a night where Jacob de Grom
has the most run support he's ever had at City
Field in his career.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Ever.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Ever, It'd be over three games, he hadn't thrown a pitch,
and he already had more run support than in any
game he ever pitched.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
At City Field. But it was tong day.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
It was supposed to be the hero that the kids
will lead us from the mouths of babes greatness and
peace and love, and wow, he got his ass kicked.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
You know all I could sit here and think of
in the top of the first inning is the Rangers
scored six in de Gram's return.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
They beat the Mets eight three. I tell look, I
told you it's all.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
It's all. It's done. The Mets are the Mets are
not making the play forget it. By the time there's
ten games left, they'll be all but eliminated from wild
card contention. And at the end of the year, I
don't know that they even finished five hundred and Carlos
Mendoza is gonna be the guy that gets fired.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Care I've gone through all of that.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
But let me ask you both, though, and Alex I
mean as well, is will this be the most empty
I hate to say I told you so in show history,
because it really does hollow out your soul when you're right.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
And they do miss the playoffs as much. I can't
hear you.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
We're partying back here. What did you say, dude?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
It is that stands it is empty?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I will tell you that, yes, it is empty.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
But aston, come on, get into it.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
All I can say is this the all right?
Speaker 1 (02:39):
All I can say is this I just in the
top of the first and when Tom is getting ripped
and it's six nothing before the Mets even come to bat.
All I can think of is that scene from the
Color of Money where Tom Cruise is playing against the
one guy that he tanked and lost to on purpose. Uh,
and the guy was all and talking smack to him,
(03:01):
and now Tom Cruise is beating him. He just said,
this is like a nightmare, isn't it. It just keeps
getting worse and worse. That's how I'm thinking, Watch go.
This is like a nightmare. It just keeps getting worse
and worse.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
This is just twelve the year for de Gram.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
You go seven innings and what's even more demoralizing is
he only had two strikeouts, so you did actually get
bats two ball, but you got nothing.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Oh, completely, completely, It's a terrible, absolutely terrible, absolutely terrible.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
I don't know what to say. There's nothing I can say, like, oh, yeah,
you just wait till tomorrow. It's like they're just punching
a time clock. Wait until the end of the season.
Speaker 5 (03:37):
I mean, helped me threw a shutout inning, though, I
mean it's amazing.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yay Hourrish six strikes. I mean he had an eight pitch.
I mean, look at him. Hooray, yes, yay, hooray.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Hooray, yeah, hooray.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
How did it feel?
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (03:55):
You know, you know how it felt.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
It felt like I was really excited to watch Steve
and Jelly play quarterback tonight for Syracuse. That's how it
felt on my two screen experience that I had.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
I mean, there aren't.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Many bigger fus on a Friday night than shutting you
guys down for seven innings. Well, look it is. It's
also set. Look what did I Harmon? What the Giants tonight?
Will be great as a Dodger fan, That'll be awesome.
But it's not gonna top this.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
I mean, no, no, no, but I mean but look,
but I mean, but Harmer, what if I told Harmon
all week?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Oh, you know, bet against us tomorrow? Forget it. Where
there's no.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Way we're Harley, We are absolutely cooked. I hope you're
getting rich, Harmon. I hope you're getting I hope you're
you're just doubling every time you bet against the Mets,
and you're winning and winning and winning and winning.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
I mean, the key is just knowing that eventually they'll
stumble into a win. Just once, it doesn't matter. So
you've got to know, jump off that.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Jump off for Nolan McLain and then jump back on.
That's all jump off for Nolan McLain, and then you
jump back on.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
That's all You're You're taking some solace in the fact
that your guy, uh off of well, it's been an
interesting week right of all your sporting events, but you're
getting fifty plus from Syracuse.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Yeah. No, they could give up twenty four to Colgates
so that yeah, but that's it. But it was like
thirty eight three at half. It was it was over.
It was over.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
It's clear what he didn't want to show anything else
on defense come clearly, TJ. Steve Peanut, Butter and Jelly
maybe the next great quarterback in Syracuse history.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
TJ. I mean, can you recreate that sullen Berman look from.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
That uh that picture with our guy, because if so,
you could just take over all together. You got the
voice of cadence and and silly punisms.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Uh. I think you can make this work. I might
be able to. I might be, but I how do
you make a living.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
But yeah, me and the Palgasol guy we go with
do autographs and say that, hey, do do your berman Okay, sure,
here you go.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Hey, will you do me a favorite? Can you put
my name in a bermanism? Sure? What's your name? Kid?
I could do with just give me a minute, all right,
I could do that for you.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
But he can really rake on cameo one of those
services you know, Oh.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Man, send it in.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
I'll get your name into a song from the seventies.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
And the thing what makes this worse tonight, right is
is this is this is really heavy stuff. But it's
and and and But I don't think that it's gonna
be something that is is uh, I don't think it's
be something to even in question when he's done. Okay,
because now I watched this tonight. Watch the Mets just
give everything away, Fine, give it away, give it away,
give it But you can give him a video tribute
(06:34):
in this oh yeah yeah? And that was nice, right
They played simple man for me. He tipped his hat
to the crowd. It was nice, No, it was nice.
It was he knew he goes man, I'm gonna set
these guys down so easy. And he did right, so
you knew, but uh, tonight the Yankees and the Red Sox.
Red Sox batting right now in the bottom of the
ninth Yankees winning for to one.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
This is Apple TV's Game of the Night.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Aaron Judge hit a home run tonight out of Fenway Park.
And I don't mean deep into it.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
He hit it.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Over the Green Monster, over the stands, on the top
of the Monster, and out of Fenway Park.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
It was over the Draft Kings side, I mean. And
that's a big ass sign that they put out there.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Can I get a Draft Kings pick six and Aaron Judge,
it's a home kid over your Draft King side. Now,
it's not just that home run, but it's the fact
that it was home run three sixty two for his career.
Now he has broken the tie for fourth place with
Joe DiMaggio on the Yankee list for franchise all time
home runs.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
The guy had two home runs last night at Yankee
Stadium as they marked the anniversary of September eleventh. Second
pitch of the night tonight from Lucas Giolito, I think
it was four hundred and seventy five feet. He absolutely
crushed it. The thing to think about and how heady
is this is. Look, there's lots of great baseball teams
with all kinds of great history, right the Dodgers here
(07:55):
in LA, all kinds of stars.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
You just name him. But throughout Major League Baseball history,
no team is more decorated in stars and in drama
and in life and in championships than the Yankees. And
when Aaron Judge finishes his career, Okay, he's thirty three
right now, you see the level he's still playing at.
Right now, when he finishes his career, we're gonna say,
(08:18):
Aaron Judge had one of the top five careers in
Yankee history.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
And you're gonna say, maybe it's third. I mean, who's
who's ahead? Because you have you you talk about the guys.
It's Ruth and Gerrig, Mantle, Demaggio and Jeter. Right, these
are the guys. These are the five. These are guys
that you've talked about the you and I have grown
up and saying their names all the time. These are
five of the biggest players to ever play the game. Obviously,
(08:43):
we have most of a history with Jeter because we
just saw his career. We saw all the clutch moments.
Three thousand hits, the captain, the two way play, that
that that he had throughout his his time as a Yankee. Right,
so Jeter, but DiMaggio, Mantle, Garig and Ruth.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
There's your top five Yankeys of all time, your top five.
And by the time Aaron Judge is done, like, he's
gonna be comfortably in the top five. And you're gonna say,
which Yankees do we knock out? Like, do not do
we really knock out Joe d fifty six game hitting streak, Well,
they might have a better career. He's gonna have one
hundred and fifty more home runs than Joe Demagio did. Now,
Jody did lose three of his years to war service,
(09:21):
which would have been more home runs, but I can't
count what he would have done when he didn't. But
you're gonna look at Judge's career and go, man, the numbers,
the impact, the war, everything compares incredibly well, if not
better than three of those guys on the list. Right,
he's gonna have better numbers than Jeter. But Jeter's a
better two way player, and he was the captain of
the team the World Series. I think you might go
(09:43):
at the end and go, okay, So it was Jeter
and Ruth right, because it's it's hard to cut up
seven hundred and fourteen home runs in the Championships and
the guy that really built major League Baseball and say, yeah, no,
he's better than Ruth. But I think you're gonna say
at the end, like the Judge might be third, like that,
that's the kind of career that he having. He's gonna
finish one of the top five careers all time for
(10:04):
the most decorated franchise in baseball.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
And you think about that for.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
A game that's been played for one hundred and fifty years,
and for one hundred and forty seven of them, the
Yankees have been the evil Empire. They spent five dollars
on that player. We can't spend five dollars here in
eighteen ninety seven. I know where the Highlanders, but we
can't spend where do they have that five dollars from?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
They have deep, deep pockets. I don't know where they're
going where. That's where Judge's career is headed right now.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
Yeah, it's an insane run that he's on right averaging
what one hundred and seventeen RBI per season, over one
hundred and sixty two games. The monumental home runs and
in a day of highlights, high Adam Silver that you
just see this constantly, and when you have a home
run like this, I mean it just cuts through everything.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
You can have a.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Full slate of games, full slate of college football games.
That's winning tonight when you're hitting the ball to the
low and four seventy five, let's not kid ourselves. I mean,
that's a terrible estimation of how far that ball went.
But fine, we'll run with it. Look, you're never getting
past Joe d for me, because as much as we
look at the statistics, I mean, you got the fifty
six games streak. Maybe if you and Walt are able
(11:11):
to put together a fifty seven, I mean he'll fall
in my estimation because it's you know, you and Walt
in the beat the Street contest. But he also measures
up better than anybody else. According to legend, he was
married to Marilyn and Roe and he was mister Coffee.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
There's all things near and dear.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
To my heart that no matter what Aaron Judge does,
he's he's not top in that. I mean, he's just
not so I mean that like in terms of pop
culture and over arching dominance at the war effort, and
it's really tough to topple. But I mean you didn't
even get down to Yogi Bearra, who's got more rings
than anybody in the that we outside of Bill Russell.
(11:50):
When you do photo shoots with those guys next to
each other, right, and some of the others that we
grew up watching that, you know, he always wondered what
was gonna happen with their careers. Right Mattingly ended up
having the bad back and it stopped what was an
amazing first decade for him. But yeah, for Aaron Judge,
I mean, he captivates our imagination of what this guy
(12:12):
still has on the books because we still have how
many more years on his contract all the way through
twenty thirty one. So in pinstripes and with those short porches,
when you talk about Yankee Stadium, you talk about going
up and over the monster, we're just getting started on
where those numbers are right projected out. We're talking some
record breaking stuff and a guy that doesn't have to
(12:34):
say much to be one of your faces of the game,
unlike his counterpart for those years down in Los Angeles,
in the muted city of Anaheim.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I mean he's gonna have a career war most likely
of what's not Jason, We can't hear you.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
He's gonna have it. Two shots, two shots, strikes out.
Speaker 6 (12:59):
To accent, was scoreless second inning, his first strikeout tonight,
his first strike in on this building at another.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Uniform no more time.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah, so you know it's a it's a doubly tough night.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
First struck out of met one more time.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
After that, the Mets lost a game one more time.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
No, that's it, man, I don't.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Have to say he owned your assess.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Here, here's the thing, though, Is it really that difficult
at this point? I mean, come on, man, I throw
seventy I could have run out there in probably five inning.
I give you a quality start. Six innings and three
runs are less. I could give you that against the
Mets right now.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Told you three months ago, Smith, what happened to King Tong?
Speaker 5 (13:45):
You're gonna like when many Burns said I bring him
before you in chains. He's he's no longer the big heavyweight.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Did you just say Tong toong'sahore.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
You're gonna be yes, I did you're gonna be a prophet, man.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
He might as well be hitting clean up.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
It doesn't It wouldn't do any worse since he did tonight.
That's for sure a profit.

That one is down for a base at And that
was just the first inning.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
It's gonna be ah, it's gonna be one of those nights,
one of those rangers run party nights here at Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
But okay, but it's okay. It's okay because.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
A I've already accepted that the Mets are terrible and
they're blowing this and it's not And I watched Syracuse
I score a lot of points and win tonight, So
I'm okay, that's it. I'm alright, man, I gotta find
my like you always say, Harmon, find your wins.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
No, that's it, you got. You gotta just push it
on h and just say, look, had a good day.
We got We got through a lot of fun stories
that are swirling in the sporting universe. And though the
Mets leave you grossly disappointed on a daily basis, as
much as you can say, hey, I'm okay with it.
I expect and I understand it. No, no, no, no, no, you're
you're in hell in that. And then you get to
(19:19):
watch Syracuse. I mean they're up to sixty six points
and the two great man warning.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Man, it's awesome, man, it's awesome. It's awesome.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
I mean I still gave up twenty four, but yeah, kick,
come on sixty six. We're all good, man' stevangel. He's
got leading the college All football in college football and
passing right now.

Now there's mad, right, and there's how mad with the
Mets and all of this. There's mad, and then there's
(19:59):
the mad that Dem Sanders is right now, okay, because
watching this game that Colorado has, they they fell behind
early and they just it's it's not getting better for them.
Tonight against Houston, it was fourteen. Nothing early, and here
we are early in the fourth quarter. Colorado's come back
a little bit, but Houston with a twenty six to
(20:20):
fourteen lead right now. Every time they showed Dion on
the sideline standing there with his arms folded, right, you
know what I think of I think if you know,
when you're a kid and like maybe you're at a party,
you go somewhere, or you're you know, you're out and
your parents are coming to pick you up, your parents
coming to get you from school, whatever it is, and
(20:40):
you're walking towards them, and you see them from far
away and they're just standing there with their arms folded,
and you know they're pissed.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
At me for something. Oh yeah, and you.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Just know it's the closer you get. I don't know
what it is, but this is this is bad. Like
that's how That's what I would feel like if I
was on the field looking at Dian tonight, just standing there,
arms folded, staring daggers at the field like I'm gonna
walk off the field and just Gonnac coach is gonna
scream at me because we're gonna be one and two
and we're gonna lose to Houston.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
He's on the plus side. Not happy man.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Yeah, I mean on the plus side, stops averaging ten
yards of uh completion.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Unfortunately he's got only got twelve of those.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Yeah yeah, not many, not many, clearly, TJ. Stop might
be a little rusty after not playing so much.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
TJ.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Well, maybe look, he will have a pinch hitter coming
in to play for him later on tonight, TJ.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
But Dion got a bit chesty about it. Is like,
look at my guy, next guy up right. He did
the little Shadoor tribute, you know, the the other day
when he had basically the watch celebration. Uh, you're not
able to run the ball. It's kind of like we're
watching with the Packers and Commanders yesterday going all right,
you gotta get some semblance of a run game. Simme
a Price has fifty one yards. He had a thirty
(21:55):
eight yard sprint right his other four carries not so much.
That's actually eating Russia has stop running for his life.
So I mean it's it's a tough tough sled. I mean,
you lost two huge figures and huge participants to things.
Travis Hunter obviously changed the game and made everybody else
(22:16):
just that much better and shouldure I excelled in what
you had put together. Yeah, it's it's growing pains on
a whole other level, you know.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
And and the thing is right, and this is Dion
And look, I'm not in the locker room every day obviously,
but when you're two games into your season and you've
already played and given chances to three different guys to
start at quarterback.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Like, what are you doing? Really? Like like like like
what do you what are you doing? Right?
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Caden Salter was the number one sought after guy in
the transfer portal, and he played well all spring summer.
He won the job. Okay, he has a bit of
a rough first game. The final drive is terrible, right,
and that's on him and Dion Santa, but Dean doesn't
take any responsibility for it. And in the last game,
everybody gets two series. What what do you mean? Everybody
gets to what the hell are you doing? Everybody gets
(23:06):
two series. Everybody got two series. And Stob played the best,
so he played most of that game. They kept they
kept going through their quarterbacks and now Ryan stob starts tonight.
So in three games, you have had three quarterbacks, not
because of injury, but just because of ineffectiveness playing all
kinds of heavy minutes, like how are you gonna win?
How are you gonna build any sort of of winning
(23:27):
culture when it's like, hey, I'm playing three quarterbacks now
tons of the time through the first three games, and
it's not because of injury.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Like what do you really doing? Are you giving Caden
Salter a chance?
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Right?
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I mean, look again, I'm not in the locker room,
but I know, hey, you take three weeks and you
play three quarterbacks. I give three quarterbacks a chance to start.
What the hell you been doing in the spring of
the summer then, like, like, what the hell's been going on?
Speaker 3 (23:50):
If you're like.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Okay, after this, I'm changing stuff. I'm impatient. I'm doing
like this start now, this right here. This crazy crap
is on Dion for just too much saying okay, now
look at me, like like there's a lot of coaches
that have to look at me, and Dion's always been
a look at me guy. But this is this is
a little bit too much because clearly he doesn't have
the horses that he had the last couple of years,
(24:12):
and and and clearly you know, two years ago should
have been better.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Last year was much better.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
But it's but like, okay, you're building something, man, and
you gotta understand you can't just I know, you showed
up in in FCS and you won right away, and
you got that. You jump to Colorado and you have
big players there and you had a Heisman Trophy winner
and the number three overall picking the draft. I get,
But okay, this is a little bit more of a
let's dig in and start over. And already you're just
changing quarterbacks and pulling them. And I'm going, there's a
(24:38):
reason why nobody does that because it doesn't work. And
team's got to know who are we following? What kind
of what kind of uh, what kind of offense are
we running?
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Here?
Speaker 1 (24:47):
How I got to get used to this guy throwing
the football and this guy throwing the football and the
offensive line.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
How do I block for this guy? How do I
block here?
Speaker 1 (24:53):
And And I'm sitting here going, Dion's just I don't
know if it's impatience or if it's he's just embarrassed,
but you you gotta give give it some time to bake. Man,
Like this whole crazy offensive crap this is all on Dion. Man,
I'm not I can't blame the quarterbacks for this. No,
the difficulty of it is, and we gave him all
credit in the world. I mean, you can go back
and find the audio in our history on the podcast
(25:15):
wherever you get your audio, Like when he came back
in the post Shador and Hunter world because a lot
of speculation because of his health and just all right,
he'd done his job right. Shiloh and Shador were gone.
Travis Hunter was his guy, moved to the next level
that he was gonna step away. So it's like, okay, cool,
I can't wait to see what the vision is going forward.
(25:36):
The problem is there's no vision right now, no vision
ceiling straight from Sinners, no vision because you're just throwing
grabbing straws at the quarterback position, trying to establish the
next phase and your countenance on the sideline, as you
put it, like I always knew we were in trouble.
If my dad wasn't talking right, if he.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
Wasn't singing along to whatever song was the record player
or just playing some grab ass talking about whatever sports
we're in season, we knew we were screwed.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Like he's quiet tonight, what'd we do? What'd you do?
I don't know?
Speaker 5 (26:12):
And you'd start going through your day going all right,
did we take out the trash? See old callback to
Jason Smith and his grandpa, But all those things like
what did we miss? What did mom rat us out on?
So that that's kind of what the countenance you've got
going on there that he feels betrayed or let down
because he gave this guy a shot. I mean, I
(26:33):
get it right, you believed in him, but he was
third string in theory for a reason. And now here
you are struggling against Houston, Houston looking to go three
and oh, I.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Mean, I mean, I don't know how you do this.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
I don't know how you're You're so impatient that you
just say, hey, guess what I'm gonna go through three quarter?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
What are you doing? Man? You can't you can't do this,
Like what how do you think.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
This is gonna How would you feel if you were
in the NFL and you showed up and Jerry Glanville said, okay, well,
Jeff George is gonna start. But then if I don't
like it, then Bobby A. Bear is gonna come in
and you know what, the next game, Jeff George is
gonna get two series. Bobby A Bear is gonna get
two series and then Steve Bartkowski is gonna get two series, Like,
I mean, I'm going back in with the Falcons quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Like how are you gonna build anything with that? Like what?
How do how do you think that this is that
this is gonna this is good?
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Ask yourself? Is this good for the company? Like, I
don't know where in what world do you realize? Oh, yeah,
this is what it is. It's it's gonna be fine.
Like this disappointing start to the season is one.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Now we'll have more on this game coming up again.
Twenty six fourteen, About thirteen minutes to go in the
fourth quarter, Houston has the football back Ryan Stobs still
in there for Colorado. But big football preview this weekend.
No game bigger in the NFL than the Super Bowl
rematch between the Eagles and the Chiefs. Big news today
Dallas Goddard is out, which means, boy, those third downs
(27:52):
might get a little bit tougher.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
For the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
AJ Brown's gonna have to read a lot on the
sideline if he's gonna really get into this one. But
I'm gonna zig where you think I'm gonna zag? Kansas
City is desperate and just because they're the Chiefs. Ninety
percent of people think there's no way they start owing too.
There's no way they start owing to they're at home.
They lost last week to the Chargers. There's no way
(28:16):
they started owing to. Guess what Chiefs are starting out?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Oh and two?
Speaker 1 (28:19):
All right, there's not enough playmakers to keep up with
Philadelphia even without Dallas.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Got it right.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
The Dallas offense is pretty good, all right. No, whatever
you think about the team, the offense is pretty good.
You've got lots of playmakers there. And Philadelphia defense was
fantastic without Jalen Carter, who again ejected for spitting before
the first play of the game. Think about that. The
Eagles are still the Eagles. Now you're facing a Chiefs
team that is limited completely at receiver. Right, No Rashie
(28:48):
Rice for another few weeks. Uh, No Xavier Worthy. Travis
kelce last week didn't look like Travis kelcey. He had
one big play because of a busted coverage to turn
into a touchdown. I don't have anybody to really run
the football. It's gonna be Mahomes, and Mahomes is gonna
look He's gonna be the guy keeping the Chiefs in
every game. And like I've said from the beginning, I'm
(29:09):
stock up on Mahomes this year, and I'm stocked down
on the Chiefs. This is the same Eagles from the
super Bowl. This is not even the same Chiefs team
from the super Bowl that they wound up beating so bad.
Mahomes is not gonna be enough. And I'll even give
you this bold prediction. Jalen Hurts goes for three hundred yards.
They're gonna sell out to stop Saquon Barkley because you
(29:30):
know they're gonna feel, Okay, we're gonna make Jalen Hurts
beat us. And guess what, Jalen Hurts is gonna beat him.
It's gonna be a Jalen Hurts game. He goes for
three hundred and the Chiefs start zero and two. Wow,
you're just full.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Of full of I mean, are you just trying to
get on Prosberg's good side so he doesn't play anymore?
De gram Highlights's gonna.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Stop that, Mike.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Look, I picked against love me.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
That's an unable force.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Oh and two is what about thirteen percent chance of
making the playoffs since nineteen ninety It.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Would learning take the National Guard to come in here
and stop this. The Grand Party, well.
Speaker 5 (30:05):
I mean look, eventually that club is going to be
overrun and the fire Department's gonna have to shut you down.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Uh, and that's what the Grand Party because of the
Grand Party. Don't stop.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
But I mean, how many people can you fit in
that studio? What's the what? What's the max? There's got
to be a sign up in there? What is an eight?
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I'm just picturing Frozburg dressed like Steve Carell in an
episode of the Office. Ain't no party like a Scranton party,
because a Scranton party, don't stop.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
He's wearing the backwards beret. Yeah. Yeah, he's got the
you know in fun jeans. He's wearing the fun jeans, white.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Jeans, and and everybody walks by, going is this where
the party is? Yep, And it's only him and Dwight.
Everybody just keeps walking by. Oh okay, not going here,
not going here, not going there.
Speaker 5 (30:45):
That was very good, Uh, you know, sillibustering to that,
curious to see. I mean, Xavier Worthy was back at practice,
but I mean, I I don't think he's gonna play right.
It's Hollywood brown it's Juju Smith Schuster, it's Travis Kelcey,
and it's wishing, wanting, hoping that you can get the
run games started.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
For Philadelphia.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
You do get carter backs, so any run game you
thought you had goes out the window for KC. But
this is one at home, the narrow one point dog
forty seven being the total. I'm gonna take the over
and that the Chiefs somehow win a shootout.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
But I'm not terribly confident.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
If I was doing confidence pools for this week, you know,
one through sixteen, I think I'd give this a one
and a half.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
I mean, look, it's gonna be a fun game. It's
gonna be a fun game.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
There's gonna be a little bit more offense than you think,
especially from the Eagles. Will be a little bit more offense,
not quite to the where we got so surprised last
week with the Jets and the Steelers. Look at all
these points, Oh my god, what is happening here? And
no one's throwing the football? How are they getting all
these plays? But in it is gonna be a little
bit more offensively. But the Eagles will get out to
a lead. The Chiefs will put up some numbers, but
the defense is gonna be able to shot. Again, everything
(31:51):
is the same, right, everything is the same, and it's
it's still a really, really good Eagles team. And again
the Chiefs aren't even as good as they were in
the Super Bowl when clearly they were no men for Philadelphia.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
Yeah, I think the big question is how good does
that defensive line come back with Jalen Carr, Because we
watched Dak Prescott have his way if guys actually caught
the ball last week, right, including a couple of penalties.
Unfortunately you don't get fantasy credit for those, for George
Pickens and otherwise. But I mean we watched their secondary struggle.
There's certainly something to be seen there. But can they
(32:23):
buy mahomes enough time to make them pay? That is
your ultimate question?

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Steve, I cannot believe Larry Bird did not score once
in this same That must have been some kind of
defensive effort.
Speaker 9 (34:36):
Frankly, they could have used him because they had five
first downs in four quarters.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I don't think any thing could have been worse. And
then there were.
Speaker 9 (34:44):
Syracuse beating up winless Colgates. That's a school, not the toothpaste,
sixty six twenty four to the final. In the third quarter,
Syracuse led forty five to three Steve Angelly with five touchdown.

innings of work. In fact, six runs in the top

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Lost to Jonahtoh celebrate. I did not celebrate, Jacob de Grimda.
I know you wish happy. I did not celebrate that.
Speaker 9 (35:18):
I could have guessed that, but you know you are
the one that brought that one up at one point
on this show.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Though, you're going to celebrate it.
Speaker 9 (35:25):
The Mets pitching staff this year has allowed eight runs
or more in twenty different games. Almost half of those
games are in the last month, and during this seven
game losing streak, the tm ERA is almost seven in progress.
The Brewers lead the Cardinals eight to two in the
bottom of the eighth. Cubs already won today six to
four against Tampa Bay. The Rockies are leading the Padres
(35:47):

Giants out to a one nothing second inning lead against
the Dodgers and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Justin Verlander three and ten

Uniform The Real Walker, Texas Ranger Jacob the.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Ground Fox Sports Radio, Yes, the Texas Rangers party happening

Speaker 5 (37:00):
You know what's funny is I I was watching something earlier.
We got into a conversation. They were going through a
bunch of major league prospects and there's an inordinate number
of guys named Walker that are coming up through the
minor leagues. I'm like, boy, all the dads must have
just strong armed because there were big Chuck Norris fans.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
And then for you guys to come back and play
that coming out, yeah yeah, just make me laugh.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Taking in the like in the in the late nineties
early two thousands, we started getting all the Lukes you

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Let me star right there. The Mets suck. Get them
all in, get them all in, get them all in.
That the Mets suck.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
I'm Michael, Michael. I'm not going to tell him that, Michael.
I'm not going to uh again, Ty Shirt. Can't just
get the clip off YouTube? Probably get the one that
leads into a Seinfeld clip, which is why this sign.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
How do you not know I put the Seinfeld clip
on there? How do you not know?
Speaker 3 (39:06):
He is a wizard? This is one of those nights.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Uh So it is high noon on st Look part
of Football Friday. We take a look at all the
big games in the NFL college football throughout the night tonight. No, boy,
do we have a college football game to tell you
about coming up in a few minutes.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
But it is high.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Noon on Sunday for Russell Wilson. Bad game and he's out.
He is out, as in, he is no longer the
starting quarterback of the Giants, and we usher in the
Jackson Dart Era. I get that you want to hold
him back. I get that there's the thought of is
he ready. The guy showed he was ready during the summer.
He's a first round draft pick. He's had a couple
(39:42):
of games. Everybody wants to keep their jobs. Russell Wilson
was no good Week one. It took a whole day
for Brian Dable to say, yes, Russ is our starter.
Bad game against the Cowboys and he is out, and
it's the Jackson Dart Era. And I've told you that, Hey,
it's happening by October first. But I'm gonna tell tell
you this. It's gonna be a stay for Wilson. He
(40:03):
will bounce back because Dallas defense is hurt and not great.
He will play well enough. Right, He's not gonna play great,
it's oh my goodness, here's russ Will. But he will
play well enough to say, all right, we can give
him one more week, right.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
We give one more week.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
He's I'm sure he's gonna throw the football a ton
of elak Neighbors, and I'll give you this Bowl prediction.
Neighbors catches at least ten passes in what's gonna end
up being a loss. Dallas will escape with the win
and they'll they'll get a w that they absolutely need,
and Russell Wilson will play well enough to keep his job.
But it's gonna be an l and we are now
just counting the days until Jackson Dart, which is probably
(40:39):
gonna be sometime in the next three weeks. But I'll
give Russell Wilson this week because I'll be really surprised
if he doesn't have a good enough game to keep
his job, which is not like three hundred yards and
three touchdowns. It's like two hundred yards in a touchdown
like maybe is what he needs to keep his job,
and that's probably what he'll wind up doing.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
Yeah, I give the shameless I watch your flex plug
because I did a bunch on Neighbors this week. Find
that wherever you get your audio. But when we look
at what the Dallas defense is, you mentioned the injuries, right,
You've got Digs still coming back. He was on a
pitch count last week. Now blands out for several weeks.
So you're gonna take your shots downfield. Those moon balls
will be in play. We'll see if they have a
(41:17):
better connection rate than the five of twelve that they
had last week. But you hear a lot of the
psychology talk when it comes to Jackson Dart all right,
there's two schools of thought to it, and the third
one I categorically reject. It's like he's either not ready
and you're playing the waiting game. You want him to
(41:38):
just get another month. And then there's the people that
want to go, well, you know what, you don't want
to ruin him psychologically.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
If he comes in and he's bad.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
It's like if he's that guy that he sucked and
he should have never been drafted.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
So again, another week. We're right on.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
Right around the end of September, that's when it's dark time. Congratulations, Russ,
you get another day. More big preview weekend action coming
up next Fox.

doing well?
Speaker 3 (43:08):
I'm doing Let's see.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Being a met fan I'm not doing really well, but
I'm also probably doing better than what is going on
in the Colorado Buffalo locker room after they're lost to
Houston tonight, So I think I'm doing over.
Speaker 10 (43:21):
It's yeah, this is not a good night for x
PAC twelve teams. And I think U CLO bounced back
and be fine, but who knows? And Colorado it turns out,
you know, I know it's not really happening right now.
With the Browns. That shit Door dude was pretty good
and it kind of gets lost how much he really
(43:44):
meant to be able to running that entire offense in
that team because it's just not the same. They just
don't have the same spark. They just don't have the
same fire. And obviously Travis Hunter he's pretty good too.
This is our look. The Big Clods better now. The
Big twelve is stronger from top to bottom. And do
(44:04):
you look at what Colorado's got coming up next. There's
not a lot of wins on that schedule and it
might be a really long year.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
You know.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
The thing is, Pete, we talked about this last hour
and I feel like a lot of this is on
Dion right, Like you're three weeks into the season. You
have played three quarterbacks already and given them all chances
to win the job because you're impatient, because you know
you're not. You didn't get Shador Part two when Caden
Salter started Week one, the mistakes at the end of
(44:33):
the game and the final drive where they didn't.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Use their timeouts.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
I feel like the beginning of this offensively is on
Dion because you're not playing three quarterbacks because of injury.
You're playing three guys because you're just impatient. You're trying.
I mean, how do you build a winning pro How
do you build any sort of consistency when you played
three guys what he has so far this year?
Speaker 10 (44:51):
And I said this, I have a guy hard beyond fan.
You can't. It's all frosting, no cake team. Look you see,
Colorado was nothing. I mean, this is a horrible, horrible program.
Was arguably the you know, the worst of the power
programs going. And what he do he took it from
zero to sixty instantly and so as good as it,
(45:15):
you know, that was okay, Well can they sustain it? Well,
it's still a program. It's you know, it didn't win
a whole lot, and they had a good little run
late last year, but you still got to build. You
still need recruiting classes where you build the offensive lineman.
And there's something to be said for you know, fan
basees want the instant fix, and that's fine, but it's
just not gonna work like that. Especially you did get
(45:38):
a guy in Cayden Salter who was good at Liberty
and did play in a big Bowl game and had
a undefeated regular season a couple of years ago. Uh
So either you got to kind of live through that
and figure it out around him. But that's why these
guys get paid millions and millions and millions of dollars
is to figure out, yes, that's my quarterback, and then
you build around him, not just try to say, hey,
(45:58):
let's let's see who's got it to.
Speaker 5 (46:01):
Pete, we got a lot of walkover games. As much
as I want to celebrate the celebrating stuff out there
in Evanston, I mean, you know, big Newton kickoff will
look great, but once that game starts, I'm not overly optimistic.
So let's go to Georgia and Tennessee, shall we? Four
point spread? Georgia favored on the road. One of the
great names of the game Gunner stocked and looking to
(46:23):
take a next step forward.
Speaker 10 (46:25):
I cannot stole Gunner. I look it up every single
time there. Look, I forced myself long ago when this
whole I okay, learn how to sell Roethlisberger. Okay, toung
of Iola, Okay, I got it. Whoever that quarterback is
for cal forget it, not even quotes. I can't get
that right. And and Gunner stocked in all the Jalen
(46:46):
and Jayden's forget it. I'm bad on that too, But
Gunner is it with an E and I A I
just whatever.
Speaker 5 (46:52):
But he's good.
Speaker 10 (46:53):
You know, he's He's not as talented as Carson back
is this step down in terms of talented quarterback. But
he might just be one of those guys that just
sort of turns into a very good college quarterback and
works well with the team around him. And look, he runs.
And so that was the thing about Stetson Bennett. You know,
he was never gonna be anything special, but he was
(47:14):
a runner. He's kind of a baller of a player
and got it a little more to the position. And
that might just be what Stockton brings to this offense.
And we'll find out. I think this is gonna be
a defensive battle. I don't see a whole ton of
points in this. But all right, Georgia, you need to
find some op and explosion to your passing game after
last year. Let's see if you got it.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Now, all right, Pete, let's head to the game.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
I mean, the biggest day probably in CW sports history.
They have South Florida and Miami. I mean, it doesn't
any bigger for the CW than said everybody's favorite team
that is disrespected yet nobody knows who the hell they
are and Miami. Does South Florida have a chance to
win their third big game in a row? Or is
(47:57):
it Miami getting the W?
Speaker 10 (47:59):
Is it Michigan? Dave Frog on the sideline? Is that? Look,
we've all been there, we've all worked without media outlets.
That's just a rough watch. It just it's a rough broadcast.
It's a rich but okay, let's it's on TV. We
(48:19):
can hit mute and you can go from there. I
think you see you. THAT'SUF. I'm sorry, has already done
its job. I mean Boise State, remember they have not
beaten a Power conference team in like ten years, you know,
but last year there came close against Oregon and beat
everyone else, got to the College Football playoffs beating Florida.
This is gravy time. Whatever happens against Miami. If they
(48:42):
run the table from here, they've got their Power conference
win on the road. They destroyed boid State good enough.
Now just beat in Memphis on the road, win the
American Conference championship and you're in the College Football Playoff
as that twelve seed. So if they now, if they
beat Miami all of a sudden, the overreaction is going
(49:03):
to be, you know, out tough the Sharts and they're
going to be ranked number six next week and all
the poles. It's not better, but it's a good program.
This is a program should be in the Big twelve.
Massive alumni based, massive student body at Tampa. They have
this natural rivalry with UCF. Everything it has to do
with you know, you want in a program to expand
(49:24):
with the Big twelve. Should have gotten a while ago.
And I don't want to say that they're playing for
that because these kinds of business deals go beyond that,
but yeah, they're kind of looking the part of a
program it's probably ready to make that jump up into
one of the Power conferences.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
Now we talked about the poles beat real quod I
want to are you an AP voter?
Speaker 3 (49:43):
You not?
Speaker 10 (49:45):
No, I don't. I do the Super sixteen poll, but no,
I've chosen not to do that.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
But okay, yes, what did you make of that story?
This week?
Speaker 1 (49:52):
You had the one AP voter who voted Florida to
move up to spots this week even though they lost
a se South Florida and South Florida wasn't ranked. There
was some craziness with Auburn two like, and all of
a sudden she had all this attention for and then said.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
Hey, what does it matter?
Speaker 1 (50:08):
It really doesn't matter at the end, and it's it's
just for fun. And what you what you make when
you heard that story and saw how that fell out today.
Speaker 10 (50:15):
You're not exactly dealing with a whole lot Gonquin roundtable
of mind here when it comes to you know, look
every week, and how about this. I think in both polls,
Mississippi State, I believe was ranked behind Arizona State in
both poles even though we're two weeks in and Mississippi
State just beat Arizona State. You know, it's not a
(50:37):
whole bunch of critical thinking, and it's it's the inherent
problem with both poles, and it's a good thing why
they actually don't matter anymore because think about it, if
you're an AP voter, you're covering you're probably covering a team.
And let's say you are covering the University of Colorado,
well or actually bad example, Let's say you're covering Tennessee tomorrow.
You're not watching all those other games. You're covering Tennessee.
(50:59):
You're filing your still, you're working on Tennessee, and then
you're doing whatever else you're going to do the rest
of the night. You're not sitting up watching, you know,
all the late night games and getting the ins and
outs of every team. That's kind of the point of
the AP poll is to reach all across the country
and get every all these different various opinions and it
all kind of comes together and hopefully it does work out. Then,
of the Coaches Poll, any coach who actually votes in
(51:20):
this poll and it's not their sid or someone else,
they ask them about any other college team in the country,
and they can't do it. They just know the team
they just played and the team they're playing next, and
that is it. But all right, you know it is
a funky exercise. Just just play along with it, though,
Just don't just say no, it doesn't matter. Make this matter,
like this the most important thing that's ever happened in
(51:42):
the world, because that's what college football fans want to hear.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
All Right, Pee, We've got Texas, A and m heading
to Notre Dame. You look at Marcel Reid, what he's
done then put up eighty six points their first two weeks.
Tune ups with the road runners in Utah State on
the board. Can they go in the south and give
them a scare?
Speaker 10 (52:01):
They absolutely can give him a scare. I don't necessarily
think that they're gonna win, though, I've just been thinking
all along that this is when Notre Dame shows up.
Because what was the big storyline after week one? It's
that Alabama looked awful. Florida State against Florida State and
Texas You know who who goes into Columbus, Ohio in
(52:21):
the first week of the season. I mean, I just
you don't do that. These teams just looked like they
needed to tune up, and Notre Dame needed a tune up.
After about forty minutes against Miami and then all of
a sudden once Carson, you know, Carson Beck had made
his plays. Also after CJ. Carr kind of started to
figure it out, just let it rip. Then they almost
(52:42):
won that it's they came ar it was over all
they need Iami needs to do is just kind of
run it out a little bit. And what happened instead, well,
you know, CJ car led him back, They tied the game,
and Beck pulled it off late. So I think that's
the Notre Dame you're going to see. They got a
week off the rest up. I think it's going to
be a scare. And then they pull away late and
(53:02):
win by two touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
All right, Pete, I'm going to give you a statement,
and you give me if it's true or false.
Speaker 3 (53:08):
You're ready go. Florida State and USC are back Florida's a.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
USC is back to being on the radar that maybe
they're good, and Florida State is back to being Hey,
we're one of the top teams in the country.
Speaker 3 (53:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (53:28):
I'm not going to buy into Florida State quite yet.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Let's see.
Speaker 10 (53:30):
I mean, beating West Texas A and M I'm just
not gonna, you know, give a whole lot of credit
to But yeah, USC maybe I I want to buy
it because Lincoln Riley has done it obviously before in Oklahoma,
and maybe something is clicked in here. At the very least,
they have looked the part where Okay, that's the explosive
offense we were waiting for out of USC, and that's
(53:54):
the defense is supposed to be getting behind the line,
attacking the you know, the backfield like we were waiting for.
But now we get to see. Now we get to
see if this is for real or not. So I
do think this is a very good USC team. I
guess I'm buying USC a little bit more than I'm
buying Florida State. But good look, the Florida State's got
a lot of nasty games coming up. USC's got the
(54:15):
big ten schedules, so we will know very too enough
who's really who's not here?
Speaker 6 (54:20):
All right?
Speaker 1 (54:20):
Lastly, Pete, let me ask you this right now, more
people in your house or after UCLA New Mexico game.
Speaker 10 (54:27):
I am well, how about this? I am literally at
doing this while walking around the Michigan State campus. Yes, yeah,
you know more. There are more people in line for
this land shark bar right now waiting to get in
that there are high Roads Bowl in Tasadan.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
As we speak, he's on Twitter at pete few Tech.

Speaker 10 (55:05):
Great, not good, See you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
Four pple outside this bar right.
Speaker 5 (55:09):
Now, Jason. It is a very popular bar. There's no
question about it. They get after it in sparty Land.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
I don't have the numbers. I don't know if it's
a fact. I just know it's damn true.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
The only place I've ever been cut off at a
bar was an East Lansing Really, I got, what.
Speaker 5 (55:27):
Did you do?
Speaker 4 (55:28):
Curs?
Speaker 2 (55:28):
Magic Johnson out.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
No, No, No, we were at this said he was overrated. No,
we're at this bar is called rum Runners. And we
go and it's my wife and I and her aunt
and uncle who are just like her. It's like her
older sister because they're only a couple of years older
than us. And we went with a couple other friends
and we were just having a good time, right, nothing happened,
There was nothing bad, nothing was terrible, and they but
all of a sudden, the waitress came over and said, yeah,
we're cutting you guys off. Why because you've you've bought
(55:51):
too much alcohol. What do you mean we bought too
much out? What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (55:54):
When when he says alcohol, he means like for smear
and off ice lights.
Speaker 3 (55:58):
You've bought too much alcohol? I said, for this, like
your your.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
Bill is x amount of you've bought x amount of drinks,
we have to cut you off.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
I go, that's a rule. What are you talking about?
What do you mean we can't? So we got cut
off and they said, we're not bringing anymore anymore drinks.
Speaker 5 (56:09):
Were you guys buying the cheap stuff? So they wanted
to bring in some heavy hitters.
Speaker 1 (56:13):
No, it was pictures and it was food, and it
was like it was we went for a happy hour,
and that's the only place I've ever got I go.
You know, there's times in my life where I absolutely
should have been cut off, way more than.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
Jas cut off.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
Four.
Speaker 2 (56:26):
Come on, they totally cut you off for a whole
nother reason. They just said that one.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
Why'd they cut me off question for you, Yeah, more
strikeouts for de Grom to night.
Speaker 2 (56:36):
Are people at the Rose Bowl
