Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Hello, Welcome inside, Happy Friday, Happy last Kershaw day, we
may ever see Jason Smith and my base friend Mike Harmon.
For over forty years, tire Rack's been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Shipped fast and free, backed by free Road, has protection

(00:48):
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot
com is the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
So here we go, Mike. We are nine minutes away.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
From the last most likely or at propage, could be
maybe likely the last seven to ten pm home start
that Clayton Kershaw's gonna have.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
They'll start right on time.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I am sure for the last home start and maybe
the last start of Kershaw's career.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
I gotta imagine he'll do everything he can to make
sure that that actually comes to fruition, even if it
means getting out there at seven or nine. It's like,
all right, let's go. I got sixty seconds to throw
this pitch. But as you started laying it out, you know,
I immediately started thinking of Freedom Rock because you're like, oh,
we may never and immediately it went to we may
never pass this way again the seals across, which transition

(01:36):
to come on people, now, smile on your brother, and
all of a sudden I had, Hey, man, Freedom Rock.
I wanted to dial the nine hundred number and order
my CDs right now.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Freedom Rock. Well turn it up, right, that was Freedom Rock? Right,
brn it up? Freedom Rock.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
All that you have heard, all the songs you have
heard millions of times on satellite radio over the past
twenty years. You could just have whatever you want now CD. Yeah,
Freedom Rock.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
If only I could go back in time between that
and my one penny eight CDs from BMG and everybody else, boy,
I would have had a media collection for the ages.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
And and a couple of things.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
With Kershaw's last Start, I say potentially the last one,
because there's a lot of unknown that that's going on
right now, the rest of the Dodger season, right, It's
I always feel it's like the rip because I was
talking about it today with friends, just saying, oh, I said, yeah,
it could be his last start. They go, what do
you mean, Well, he's got one more. You know that
they have another series. I go, yeah, but do we
know he's really gonna pitch there? That's five days from now?

(02:36):
Is Kershaw gonna pitch? Are they gonna save him for
the playoffs? Is he gonna pitch that one game? What's
he gonna do in the playoffs?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Like?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Is he gonna start one of the first three games?
Like you know Snell is gonna start game one? Yamamoto
is gonna start game two?

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Are you? Are you? Is Kershaw really gonna you don't know?

Speaker 1 (02:50):
There's a lot of unknown They're like, oh no, I go,
but just think about it, really, I mean, I'm sure
he will be on the roster. Is he gonna start again?
Is he gonna pitch again? I mean you really don't know.
I mean the plan is right now, yes, last home
start five days from now. Wherever the Dodgers are, who
knows where they're gonna be when it comes to where
they are in the standings with the Padres trailing them,

(03:11):
who lost tonight to the White Sox.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
So I think frostburgos you a beer.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
But like this really could be it, And I'm like, okay,
I mean, treat it like it's it, because you just
never know.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
You want to say, oh, sure, it's fine, it's fine,
it's fine. No, I mean this, this may be it.
Oh but the playoffs, Yeah, but you don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Once you get out of that second game of the playoffs,
you don't know what kind of bullpen you've used. You
don't know where you're going with stuff, Like who knows
what's gonna happen. I mean, I think we're gonna see
Kershaw pitch again. But he's he gonna pitch? Is he
gonna start in the Playoffs's gonna come? And relief in
the playoffs? Like this is the last like Kershaw day
that you can say, Okay, here's the best left handed
pitcher that any of us have ever seen. I know
we're seeing him tonight. I know we're seeing him in

(03:51):
six minutes. I don't know, and we're gonna see him again.
If we're gonna see him again.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
It's funny watching the verbal gymnastics that have been going on,
listening to the local news stations, the articles online, trying
to figure out exactly how to term it beyond last
regular season start at Dodger Stadium. Everything else has been
kind of a word salad of trying to do exactly that.
Speculate on whether he has that start against Seattle next week,

(04:18):
if that goes according to the current rotation, or does
that get torn Us under his role for the playoffs.
We've talked about it a bunch. Does he have a
spot start in there somewhere? Maybe? Is it more likely
that he's a long reliever? Absolutely?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
I do know this.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Get in right now, just minutes if you're hustling into
Dodger Stadium two hundred and eighteen bucks. That was a
two point fifty ish most of the day. Still a
smattering of tickets out there for those that are traversing
the parking lot and trying to race in. But we
talk about demand and chaos on this Joe Davis talking

(04:54):
Bobblehead night Boy. Joe Davis really couldn't even get his
own night man.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
I mean, really you couldn't. Okay, two things, two things
the Dodgers couldn't do Number one. You couldn't push a
Clayton Kershaw bobblehead really, I mean, I know you'll do
one tomorrow, will do one for him. I mean you
couldn't push it, right, No, you have them, right, Why
don't you say okay instead of the boxes that have
the Joe Davis bobbleheads, we give the boxes with the
Kershaw bobblehead.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
But it's not like you don't stuff there for today.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I mean you're gonna be really saying, hey, no, no, no,
give me that Joe Davis bob.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
I know, but if I bought for tomorrow because it
was Kershaw Day and they gave it today, I'd be pissed.
And you'd have thousands of people that'd be pretty pissed
because there's also a Chase variant, three thousand gold Clayton
Kershaw bobbleheads for tomorrow. Yeah, I suddenly you change that
from the Saturday to the Friday game. Oh man, they'd

(05:45):
be chaos, yeah, sanity. Yeah, unless you're gonna give me
a MOUs.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Well, you could.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
You know, listen, we are in the era of flexible
scheduling everywhere in sports.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
You could have done this if you really wanted to know.
And I'm just saying.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
If I'm one of the fifty thousand that was ready
to go charge there tomorrow and they decided to give
it away today and I don't get an extra slip
of paper or an extra sandwich, I'm gonna be got
a pissed Oh no, you don't get the Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Here's your Joe Davis bobblehead. Are you are you out
of your mind? Hey? Sorry? Man, but you know Kershaw
was last night, right Sorry?

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Yeah, we decided to swap it, sync it up with
his final start. So here's Joe Davis and we're not
even batterieson this.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
You sure they wanted to make it a better Joe
Davis bobblehead. Freddye, Meat Gibby, give me meat, Freddy. That's
all you do, your president is give me fred But
the other thing is like okay, and here here's the
other part. Inflexible scheduling, like you couldn't find a way.
I mean, I I I get that. Hey, Apple TV
has paid a lot of money, you know, for for

(06:51):
for Friday night Baseball, and right now people are there's
there's a lot of people turning on right now, going
where's the game. What do you mean Apple TV? What
the hell are you talking about? What do you mean
Apple TV? And you're not getting it in LA, you're
not getting it across the country. Yeah, you couldn't couldn't
find a way to say, hey, we're gonna we're gonna
make our Apple TV program available tonight somewhere else. Like

(07:13):
I think that would be a great commercial for Apple TV, right,
I mean, are you gonna get people that are gonna
apply to to get Apple TV for a month or
would this be something if you said, hey, we're gonna
help everybody out here on a Friday night. We're gonna
do something with MLB Network and the local stations here
in Los Angeles, and hey, you take our broadcast, right,

(07:34):
you take our broadcast.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
We'll give it to you, we'll give you, but.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
You got to take our broadcast tonight and we'll put
it out there and everybody gets see kershaw Like who
says no? I mean, like who said everybody watches MLB
Network and certainly people all watch in Los Angele Like
you couldn't strike that deal to say, hey, that's a
really good commercial for us. I mean, I feel like
that could have been done tonight I mean I understand, Hey,
we own the product and all this, but I think
the overall we could really do a solid and get

(07:59):
people to really get what we're all about and tune
in to and say, hey, maybe I want that product.
Maybe I want to get that. Maybe I like the
play by play guys. Maybe I like what they do
in between innings, maybe I like all it.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Hey I'll get this. They do a nice job. Whatever
you would think. It's a pretty good commercial for one game,
one time.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
I kind of dig the way you're thinking. I mean,
you could have also run a bunch of ads, particularly locally,
to say, hey, go upgrade your Apple phone that you've
been putting off. Get the new iPhone. Now you get
three three months starting today to watch Clayton get on
in there. Yeah it's only a thousand dollars, but hey,
get going.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
No. I dig the cut of your jib.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
With whatever local station you could have made an appeal
to and come to an agreement on, I mean, you
would have been able to advertise all your shows, right
the return of the Morning Show. Here's another picture of
Ted Lasso for you, in case you missed it. Throw
out a bunch of code Coach beardisms, have Nate show

(08:57):
up on the jumbo tron as the villain and the
worst urn turn and story that they decided to decimate
in the middle of a season that you've ever seen
on television. But all of that thing, I mean, you
could have been selling, selling, selling all of these shows.
And maybe it's nothing else some water cooler discussion. I
get that, but you also paid a lot of money

(09:18):
for the rights to this, so damn it. You've been
waiting for a moment all year.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Okay, this is not where Hey, guess what Wan Soto
was gonna fight Aaron Judge in between THEE and the
seventh inning stretch, Like, yeah, if you're getting something back.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
You could see it bubbling, and it's been there for
a while. I mean it's still late under the surface,
going back to their time as teammates a year ago.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
But I mean, really, I mean serious, I mean you
could really, I mean, you could have done some solid
for baseball fans and and said, hey, we're giving you
this game and everybody. Everybody wins, right, everybody wins. It's
one game and it doesn't effect now, I get it.
It opens the door to something else, and then but
you don't have to do that in the future. This

(09:58):
is an end of game Friday, the end of season
Friday night. You have something great. I'd want more people
to see my product right at this point, right, okay,
and then to say, hey, look look at what we're doing.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
And again, you take our broadcast. You gotta take our broadcast.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
But everybody, everybody would say yes, Spectrum Sports that here
in LA would say absolutely, hundred percent, we will absolutely
run that. I know we don't have our guys on,
but we we have no problem doing that because we'd
rather do that than people to turn on and go,
Wait a minute, why am I getting a documentary the
nineteen eighty eight regular season for the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
For the next four hours? Right?

Speaker 1 (10:29):
And if your MLB network, okay, you do it all
the time anyway, right, Hey, okay, people will watch us
coast to coast like that? Really, isn't everybody wins?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Right? Look at me, Mike. I look out for the fans, man.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I look out for people who want to see, you know,
the last start for Clayton Kershaw and see the end
of what a what an incredible first ballot Hall of
Fame career is like, because it's a celebration of the sport.
It's a celebration of the game. And again, it's the
best left handed pitcher that I have ever seen. And
I feel like I can say that pretty from a
guy who's seen Steve Carlton in his prime, for guy

(11:00):
who's seen Randy Johnson. I feel pretty pretty strongly that, hey,
I think everybody could could stand to see this one
more time.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Yeah, they would have seen something really special with that
leadoff hitter. As Ramos goes deep to center veil at
one another.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Giants, look at you, ruining Kershaw day by giving facts.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Come on, man, you can't give facts like that.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Can't you gotta say, hey, Kurshaw, three up, three down
in the first day, it's an immaculate inning. Nine pitches,
nine strikes, Kershaw, even if you're lying in the leadoff,
I can't make it up. Where we are at the end.
You know, a news and entertainment venue.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Wait a minute, it says here that Ramos had a
lead off home run. No, no, no, it didn't happen. No
he struck half three guys. Yeah no, no.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
If you don't have Apple TV, you didn't see it,
so it never happened.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
You can you can get the broadcast we're gonna give you,
and the broadcast that you could get if you're watching
Apple TV.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
Play crusheis no Gray in the beard of the feed.
I'm watching you look a little younger. And and they're
not even playing the Giants.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Who is Oh, it's a replay of his No hitter. Look,
I didn't know that this would be better. Well, I mean, look,
you can't obviously tonight. Look you can't. You know, the
Giants are fighting for their playoff lives. You don't know
how it's gonna go. And it would really suck for
Kershaw for this to be his last start. And so
you know, he gets he gets hit really hard, whatever
it is. And look, and maybe that makes him want

(12:24):
to start again, right, maybe they'll say, Okay, I want
to go in and pitch next week.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
I mean, who knows.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
But I mean, this is whether he pitches great or not,
it's I mean, this is this is a guy that
for eighteen years has has shown you you know, he's
the one of the shining stars of the sport. And
and I really I think when you want to celebrate
the sport, it's something that you can make available to everybody.
I think that would have just been a really great
olive branch thing to do, because in the end, you're

(12:51):
all in it to push baseball, right, like like Apple,
like MLB is in whatever contracts they are with with
Apple and ESPN and FS one and Fox every thing else.
We want to promote Major League Baseball because everybody wins,
right when I remember when they hit that big, that
big promo a few years ago where ESPN and Fox
were splitting the ALCS and the NLCS, and it was

(13:13):
a big deal that both networks decided we're going to
promo the games on the other network. And I'm like, okay, great,
Like you can't pretend it doesn't exist. Hey, this is
Game three the NLCS the ALCS, and we're not gonna
talk about that because we don't own the rights to it.
Like I mean, it's stupid, right, it's just but like
to have that, it's like, okay, And if Fox and
ESPN can come together and say, hey, well promo the

(13:35):
others might be like, look, we can all come together
on this and say, hey, you know.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Kershaw, let's all let's all of us see Kershaw's finals.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
So look what they did on Big Nude Kickoff to
uh say goodbye to Lee Corso, right, final couple of minutes.
If you're highly touted and.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Yeah the Fox, right, yeah Fox was awesome and you.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Did that, so yeah, I mean comber Heads can prevail.
There's certainly a business uh decision, and someone at Apple
and Apple's Sports. I believe they've built out their own
little division there, and it's not some guy running rogue
in between trying to add an extra feature on the app.
That you've got something on the Apple Store, right, Hey,

(14:12):
we need to get that other developer with a new game,
Amaze game up there. No, no, no, they actually have
a sports department and someone said, you know what, this
might be good for the company.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Wait a minute, why am I watching somebody play Royal
Match on TV?

Speaker 3 (14:29):
I can't stand this ad.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
I get it all the time, and it's a game
that tells me there's no ads, but I get ads
for Royal Match to download this game and play it.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
I can't stand that.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I can't stand watching that woman one more time telling
me there's no ads and I have to download Royal
Match and yes it's too good to be true, but
it is good and it is true. I can't watch
that ad again, stop giving me that.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Hey, you want a Kershaw? Oh right, yeah I did.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
And when the Dodgers are batting, they go away from
it and they actually show people playing a video game.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, Hey, I'm okay with that too. Hey man,
we'll show you. We'll show you something else we do.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
We got Kershaw, but here's some of the other stuff
you can get through Apple.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Kershaw, Whenty pitches. That's all we're gonna do is show
you Kershaw when he pitches. And then when the Dodgers
are batting, and went, well, well, if you're gonna show that,
you're gonna show Otani.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
So yeah, okay, maybe a cut away out.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
I mean, hey, look, you were only smith. You only
were bargaining for Kershaw Otani in your archids.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
I should have bargained a little bit more.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Here it is two goals playing snake.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
I'm sorry, sir. You do not get kirt, you do
not get Otani. Did not bargain for Otani. You get Kershaw,
and Kershaw only comes out of the game. We cut
out of it. I have a picture of Sean Connery
signed by Roger Moore. It's worth one hundred and fifty
dollars exit out about a Fresca exit swalling dome. So

(15:53):
little trouble for Kersh in the first inning. Yes, the
leadoff home run by Ramos one on one out, final
home start, maybe final start of the career of Clayton Kershaw.
Will continue to keep you updated on this game throughout
the night. But it also is a huge football Friday.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. How about the University of Maryland Global
Campus you can choose for more than sixty five graduate
online degrees and certificates, including our NBA now with ten
specializations classes starts soon. Visit UMGC dot edu. That's UMGC
dot edu. Well, Clayton Kershaw gets out of two on

(18:21):
and two out trouble in the top of the first inning,
already won nothing Giants in his last Dodger statum start,
maybe his final start overall. Judging by the first inning, Mike,
maybe if you can't see this game, you're the lucky ones.
Like ok I want to see Klay well, Okay, a
lot of trouble in.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
The first sitting for Kirsh.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
I would say this though, over the course of the year,
and I should have looked at the odds Jason, as
to what the odds were that the Giants would score
in the first, because Kershaw came into the game giving
up nearly a run per inning in the first all year,
like his era was at like a seven to eight
yeah or something like that. So the fact that he
got it out of the way with the leadoff home run,

(19:01):
let's go.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Listen to be pitched out of it.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Moving on, I don't I don't want I don't want
to burden everybody with all this. So instead I'm just
I'm just gonna get it out of the way. Here's
a gopher ball, right, Yeah, there's a lot of anxiety here.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
You know, let's let's just you know, break the seal.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Come on, uh exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Jason Smith, Mike Carbon with you.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
I will keep you updated on Clayton Kershaw's final Dodger
Stadium start, and again, I think you hit it right
on the head a few minutes ago. All that's being
said is it's his final Dodger Stadium start, just because
you don't know if he's going to pitch again. You
think he is, but maybe he won't pitch next week,
depending on where the Dodgers are, if they want to
rest him. Maybe he starts in the postseason, Maybe he doesn't,

(19:44):
because clearly Otani's gonna start, Blake Snell was probably gonna
start game one, Young Moto's gonna start, skirtch are gonna
start game four. Glass, I mean, you don't know, like
like I think we're gonna see him pitch. I'm sure
we will see him, but are we guaranteed to see it?
Is he ever gonna start again, like I don't like,
this is probably gonna be it. It's probably gonna be
it for him.

Speaker 6 (20:01):
Man.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Yeah, you gotta get a little bit of the uncertainty, right.
The magic number I think coming into today to clinch
the division was five. They did get some help former
Dodger Miguel Vargas with that homer for the White Sox
to get the series opener over the Padres in the books.
So they got that help from an old friend.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Ah, and you know they said, hello, you did that
like very NFL films, and they went Bob Greasy went
to an old friend to try to tie this game up.
Greasy back in the pocket, out to Zaka and the
flat breaks a tackle in the end up for a touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
He ran through to four guys like he was the
kool aid man coming.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
To a park.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
That was always my favorite was a quarterback finding an
old friend to tie this game up or to give
the team the league. Tarkenton back to pass, he's looking
for a shot and the end zone got a touchdown.
Vikings they take the lane.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
I love that. Looking for an old friend, looking for
an old friend.

Speaker 1 (21:00):

set your personal record for most home runs in a season,
and likely finish and likely cement that you will finish
no worse than third in MVP voting, you get to
be the play of the day.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
The two to one, So it's a high five, Honust Tenor,
and You'm going back onto the.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Track nearer the wall.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
This one is gone.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
It's a free run com for one subto there was
that's where still even higher with the call.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
The Mets blow two horrible defensive plays and they're down
for due to the Nationals, and I'm like, really, we're
gonna lose to the net Like all of a sudden,
I go to doom and gloom right away, we're gonna
lose to the Nationals. This is off like, and then
they score six runs in the fourth inning. Juan Soto
hits a three run Jack again now a a career
high for him in home runs for the year. And look,

(22:16):
we talked about Otani and Schwarber, how their odds on
for MVP, and you know John Paul Morosi every week
tell it talks to us about the how the voting
is getting closer and all of this between the two
of them.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
But this is.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Sodo now forty two home runs, one hundred and three RBI.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
His ops is nine thirty one.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Remember the days when he was miserable and couldn't wait
and make a mistake.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
With the heats? No, I wanted to, Oh, those are
the days. Huh.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Those are the days when Wan Soda wasn't worth the
money in the April in May.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Was so bad. Those are the days. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
I mean he may still be miserable, but he's been
worth every penny, and he's been good box office and
good h fantasy baseball, playing, betting.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
All that stuff.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
He and Alonso ridiculous one two combination current odds minus
fifty thousand for sho Hao Tani minus fifty eight thousand. Uh,
Schwarber at nineteen to one and then so too at
thirty to one. Before you get to Machado, Freeman and
some others all at two hundred to one.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Hey, he will finish third with a bullet once. We're
gonna we're gonna raise a banner for that at City Field. Hey,
third in MVP voting, mon Soto, Well, you find your
wins man.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
What do I say?

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I mean, I wish he was hitting, you know, more
in line with his career batting average than the two
sixty five.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
But you know, I can't have everything. Yeah, but it's
too considering the first two months. Two sixty five is
like forty.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
Oh no, no, no, he's a Lozard. Yeah after two
first yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Uh So we'll have the rest of the night in
baseball with what's trending coming up in a few minutes
with special delivery Steve di Seger.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
But big Football Friday.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Time to look at a couple of the biggest games
of the week in the NFL. And I'm gonna tell
you what, Mike, I'm gonna I'm gonna make you really happy.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Right now.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
I know you're thinking, wait, is he gonna pick against
the Bears Dallas and Chicago the big Marquee game. Obviously,
Tom Brady is on it, gonna get all the secrets
of the Bears and the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
They just blab them all to the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
I love the over more than anything in this game. Yeah,
I mean really, I love the over. I mean really,
I mean they can make the over seventy and I
would say, yeah, no, I think.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
I'd take the over.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
But I like Chicago in this game because Dallas doesn't
do anything defensively that's going to force Caleb Williams into
a bad game. Right, They don't pressure the quarterback, their
defensive backs aren't great, and they're banged up. Like He's
gonna continue on with what has been a pretty good
preseason production wise, the first couple of weeks, right, well,

(24:43):
anybody that does fantasy, Yeah, Caleb Williams is putting some
numbers up.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Now.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Obviously they're zero to two and and there's and there's
issues with the Bears. I'm not saying they're not because
the Bears are a beautiful mess. But this week, I
don't think the Cowboys can do anything that's going to
slow the Bears offense down. Williams is gonna have a
field day. They're gonna win a shootout over the Cowboys.
It's gonna be, oh my goodness, the Cowboys just lost
to the Bears. Ben Johnson's gonna be giving the finger

(25:09):
to everybody after the game. See I, DOLG, I can win,
and I'll give you this bold prediction too. Caleb Williams
will be the number one fantasy quarterback this week. Look
the Bears beat the Cowboys in a shootout. Williams number
one fantasy quarterback.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
It's funny because I ranked him number four for the week,
with Dak coming in at NUMBERO.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
You have no confidence in your guy, No, no, absolutely none.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
Because we look at the injury report for the Bears, TJ.
Edwards with the hamstring, Jalen Johnson the garoyin injury done
for the year, Kyler Gordon with the hamstring out as well. Defensively,
Dennis Allen looks like he's grasping its straws. So Dak,
Prescott and company will have their day. But I do
agree from when we look at the Dallas side of things,

(25:51):
digs slowly but surely coming back. He was up to
fifty two percent of the snaps against the Patriots in
Week two after well not not really being being around
a ton going back to two week one, uh so,
looking for him to have a a bigger role. Sorry,
I'm now conflating digs to the wrong squad as as

(26:14):
we we get there. So it'll be curious to see
how much he plays and and adds in. But the
land being done for the year gives you opportunities. Adunze
has been a big target. Gotta get the tight ends involved.
Until that happens, I think they'll struggle a little bit. Uh.
And once they get past the script, it's all about
quarters three and four for this squad right now, as

(26:36):
long as they don't get buried. Uh. And with the
Javante Williams running the ball as effectively is, I get
a little bit nervous there, buddy.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
That's that's where that's where it gets a little bit.
They've actually got balanced, something the Bears do not have,
as you do have swift on the injury report for
the Bears. So uh, I'm gonna take Cowboys. But the
Cowboys are winning out.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
It's like the Cowboys won a game against the.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Junior varsity last week. It's like the varsity being the
jv and they're doing handsprings about it and signing balls
and think.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Oh, we won won.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
The Giants are terrible and they needed the Giants to
gag it away at the end in a sixty four
yard field goal to win that game. Buddy, Bears in
a shootout tons of points. You're gonna be happy, happy, happy, man.
And I won't tell anybody in Chicago that you don't
have the confidence of Caleb Williams that I do. For
this week, It's okay, No, it's a matter of a
number number.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
Come on, man, I'll tell you what. If they get
an offensive explosion, they'll take the l as long as
Ben Jonson could say, see the offense is coming together. Yeah,
And obviously I erased the the Giants Cowboys final U
from my brain as I was going to Digs and
going to his to the other Digs in terms of
the the name recognition. But yeah, I know, I like

(27:52):
your confidence, but thus far that's not worked very well
when you've picked the Bears to do something. My AFC
champion Ship game previews this week, we're gonna get it twice. Yeah,
Broncos and the Chargers Denver needs a little more time
to gel right. You can tell offensively they're not quite
there yet, which is okay, right, They're gonna be a

(28:12):
different team in the mid in mid season to the
end of the year, when their new pieces come in
and they figure out the offense a little bit, right,
like Sean Payin's going Evan Ingram's my joker.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Oh wait a.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Minute, Okay, who knows. So they're not quite there yet.
There'll be a different team in mid season. I am
riding the Chargers now. They have the better quarterback situation easily.
Justin Herbert is better than bow Knicks. He is reminding
everybody that he is still Justin Herbert. You don't get
well against this Chargers defense. This is the best Chargers

(28:44):
team since the mid two thousands run when it was
Rivers and lt and and and Crol Marty and and
and the and the defense and and and Sean Merriman
and and that great defense. This is the best, most talented,
best coached Charger team in almost two decades. This is
gonna be a big, big day for the Chargers. They're

(29:05):
gonna continue to be undefeated, announce themselves as a Super
Bowl contender. And I'll give you this bold prediction. Chargers
running backs total not eat. I'm not crazy. Chargers running
backs run for over one hundred yards in a breakout game,
because they you look at their stats. So they run
the ball pretty well. Yep, stet's because Justin Herbert's their
second leading rusher. You know, Harball wants to be able

(29:27):
to run the football more with Hampton and Naji Harris.
Naji Harris obviously still working his way back to that
stellar three point eight yards per carry, but he will
have a big week this week and they will total
over one hundred yards from the running backs. They win
this game over Denver. I still have no worries about
the Denver Broncos. But here come the Chargers, undefeated and
suddenly Jim harb on the Chargers. It's wait a minute,

(29:48):
wait a minute, they start becoming a Super Bowl favorite.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Oh. I got plenty of concerns for the for the
Denver Broncos. I'm not going away, but I think the
analysis is spot on. Denver defense is not ready for
prime time just yet. Neither is that offense either. It
does not scare me. You lose the game to Indianapolis.
Folks can complain in belly ache about leverage and whatever.
Get over yourselves. You still lost twenty nine to twenty eight,

(30:15):
and the week before you struggled against the Tennessee squad
that offensively has I think issues would be the kind
way to say it. Jason and bo Nicks did not
play well in that game at all, so work in progress,
still trying to figure out the pecking order. He has
completed two thirds of his past attempts. But this one,
to me is an easy homecoming, as they finished the

(30:37):
first three games of the season all division games. Chargers
win this one going away, although that forty six might
actually be too lofty a height for these two teams
to achieve.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah, I will sigh like the under. I do just
because I know how Harbaugh is gonna want to play
this game. He's gonna want to run the football, and look,
Denver's defense will get there faster than their offense. So yeah,
I'm with you on the under on that. This has
like a This has like a twenty to thirteen kind
of feel to me, twenty to sixteen something like that

(31:09):
with with the with the Chargers winning, not a really
big day throwing the football for Herbert, not a really
big day for the Broncos offensive. I'm with you there
on the under.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
I like that a lot.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Grind it out, but yeah, you know, start more and
more billboards up and around the four.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
H five Exit out about a Fresco exit Swollen Dome.
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
time how to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. But guy who has been called the
Jim Harbaugh of Fox Sports Radio because he wears khakis
into work every week, it's Steve Desager.

Speaker 6 (31:43):
The win loss record not quite even, but okay, I'll
take it sure. Dodger Stadium tonight, Giants leading one nothing
over La top of the second, Clayton Kershaw allowed a
leadoff homer. He has three strikeouts three walks so far
in this Again, it's so far just one nothing for
the rival Giants. By the way, Kersha has a career
era against them two point oh eight. The Dodgers are

(32:05):
hosting San Francisco this weekend. They started the day first
in the NS three games over the Padres. The Padres
were beaten tonight at the White Sox four to three.
Acts of Chicago. Dylan Cease took the loss, throwing six
innings White Sox and a six game losing streak. Boston
has just won eleven to seven at Tampa Bay. Baltimore
beat the Yankees four to the Yankees offense went four

(32:27):
for thirty with eleven strikeouts. The Toronto Blue Jays had
long ago given up trying to win tonight's game Kansas
City twenty to one, the final over the Blue Jays.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Oh I had the Blue Jet that was getting twenty runs.
Oh I just squeaked that out.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
Toronto had a catcher on the mound at one point
that allowed ten runs and thirteen hits in the span
of thirty three pitches. He only threw it, hitting it
a third at ten.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Didn't Didn't the catcher start the game for the for
the Blue Chase, Yes, it was.

Speaker 6 (32:59):
Max Shir, Sir, we pitched like a catcher tonight. You
know what, seven runs in the first.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
You know what was funny though, is I had that
game on and they start the broadcast going, Max Sures
are getting ready to make his case to be one
of the postseason starters.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Whoops and Eddie Wow.

Speaker 6 (33:16):
Same thing with Dylan Cees and the Padres tonight. By
the way, maybe the same thing with Clayton Kershaw on
the Dodgers. I sense a theme going on tonight. The
Blue Jays are still three games up on the Yankees
for first in the AL East, the Mets beat Washington
twelve to six. Nationals have lost five straight. Juan Soto
with his forty second homer. Pittsburgh's lost five straight. A's
beat him four to three. Cincinnati over the Cubs seven

(33:39):
to four. The Reds hit five home runs. Update Kershaw's
gotten out of the jam to the bottom of the second,
one nothing. San Francisco in the lead, Arizona leads to
one over the Phillies in the fourth. The Cub's already
losing well. The Brewers are losing seven to one at
Saint Louis in the top of the eighth in a
battle for first in the AL West. Mariners have hit
four homers and lead four nothing. At Houston in the

(34:02):
top of the ninth, Detroit lost again. They have dropped
seven of eight. Suddenly, what was only about a week
and a half ago at nine and a half game
lead in the AL Central could be down to two
and a half because Detroit lost at home ten to
one to the Atlanta Braves, who won six straight. Meanwhile,
Cleveland's won seven in a row and the Guardians are
winning tonight four to two at Minnesota in the top

(34:24):
of the ninth inning, Texas tied one to one bottom
of the ninth against the Marlins, and the Rockies have
a record of forty one and one twelve. They are
beating the Angels tonight seven to six in Colorado in
the top of the ninth. Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels is
out with a spray knee. The forty nine Ers are
due to start quarterback Mac Jones again this weekend. Bengals

(34:44):
QB Joe Burrow had his toe surgery. Broncos tight end
Evan Ingram is out with a bad back. He misspractice
all week. Linebacker Dray Green laws out as Denver plays
at the Chargers Sunday. Tight End Tyler Warren of the
Colts is questionable with a toe injury. Packers tie at
and Tucker Kraft questionable with a knee injury, and Seattle
running back Zach Sharbonay doubtful with a foot injury. There's

(35:07):
college football on Fox TV to the fourth quarter. Iowa
still tied at Rutgers twenty one all and in the
WNBA playoffs, finishing the first round. Phoenix up sixty to
fifty nine on New York at the end of three.

Speaker 3 (35:19):

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Jason Smith Mike Harbon live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
A Big Football Friday on Clayton Kershaw's last Dodger Stadium
start of his Major League baseball.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Career, at least for now. Oh, I don't even get
the guitar solo, Mary Mac. People to fire Mary Mac. Okay,
it was right that theory.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
Uh, you know they're interviewing Matthew Stafford during the game
right now, Clayton, Kurt, did you know Mike, I did
not know this.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Kershaw and Stafford went to high school together? Did you
know know? Yes? How did I not know this until I? Dare? You?
You know?

Speaker 1 (36:43):
And they also He also said Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard?
Did you know that Ji went to Harvard?

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Start dropping truth bombs along?

Speaker 3 (36:52):
How did you know that? Sure? And you know what else?

Speaker 1 (36:53):
Apparently when he was in the NFL, Jeff Fisher was
on the NFL's competition committee.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Did you know all this stuff? How do we not
know this?

Speaker 4 (37:01):
I had must have had my memory wipe. Seems like
I'll tell you, man, very obvious things. I would have known,
frost You had the under two innings.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
You know that's the thing, man, Frostburg being out tonight
stealing the Kershaw bobbleheads from Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
Right now, Patrick is in filling in.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Patrick, gotta tell me these things, man, like when the
Kershaw and Stafford went to the same high school.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
I mean, this is nobody knows this, man, This is
big stuff. Honestly, Jay, I thought it was common knowledge.
My bad man. I knew it, but I thought it
was common knowledge. Dude, I'm being facetious, of course. Okay,
you're fine, dude, you're fine.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Don't worry about Oh my god, Jason's gonna say never
have Patrick filling and produce again. I'll be real with you, guys,
I may in fact be a little above average on
being gollible.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
I might be. I mean, I did the whole.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
I thought he was gonna be a little bit overserved.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
I was like, wait, I did I don't know what
that means. I did the Fisher on the compet, I
did all. I did all the stuff that we know.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
But yet broadcasters tell us all it's okay Patrick, you know,
and it's okay.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
It's okay, dude, You're all good.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
There's all just a question of the bet of when
he was going to show up in the broadcast though.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Yeah, no, that is true. Yeah that is.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
It just gonna be a hey here he's in attendance
versus an actual interview.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
So we'll have more on this game coming up in
a few minutes. Again, Clayton Kershaw's final Dodger Stadium start tonight?
Is it his final start in Major League baseball? We
got more on this coming up in a bit, But
big news today quarterback wise, we thought we were gonna
get Brock Party to start for the forty nine ers
this week and a matchup of two to two and
oh teams didn't think that was gonna happen, but the

(38:34):
Cardinals and the Niners going at it on Sunday. It
will be mac Jones once again in place of brock Purty,
barring a significant last minute change. Kyle Shanahan's saying today
that it's highly unlikely that Perty's gonna start there right now,
seeing if he's healthy enough to be the number two
or an emergency number three. So depending where he is

(38:56):
depends on how Party feels over the next forty eight hours.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Mac Jones will get to start. Now. First things first
with this.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
If I'm brock Purty, I am itching to get back
into this because I know I signed that big contract.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
I know the brocolypse has gone.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
But man, the last thing you want is to hear
the narrative of Hey, Matt Jones with another really good start,
Maybe any quarterback could have succeeded this offense. Why do
we pay brock Purty all of that money? I mean,
I mean, Garoppolo sure did well enough, but he couldn't
stay healthy. Trey Lancedver was healthy enough to get a shot.
I walked in here and did great. Now look at
the money I'm making. I don't want anybody else to

(39:30):
get in here and think that maybe it's the offensive system.
Maybe there's other guys in here that could be a
big star instead of me. So if I'm purty, I'm
kind of itching to get back into that lineup.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
Well yes, and no, I mean you're not giving any
of the money back. Oh no, of course not, of
course not, but certainly, And I think at this point
Perdy's been there long enough that the Shanahan is a genius.
He can win with anybody. Narrative has been in place,
after all, wasn't he the beneficiary of that for a
little while where they they didn't go look for another

(40:01):
option and he got to have his run which eventually
got him paid, which I guess on some level shows
that they must like him in the front office a
little bit more to actually have paid him. Otherwise you
would have just shuffled up and dealt onto the next
guy and gone.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
Year to year.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
But yeah, I know you certainly want to don't want
much of the season to get away from you, But
you're in a bonus country after the hard fought victory
in Week two, so perhaps there's no need to rush
him back.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
And I will tell you this, Mac Jones, Brock Party,
Joe Montana. The Cardinals win this game, they go to
three and zero. They are sneaky solid. They were a
sneaky eight to nine last year. It's the second year
in the offense from Marvin Harrison Junior, who's got to
get the football more. Trey Benson is a pretty good
running back, right you wait for Josh Sweat to become

(40:53):
the big difference maker. I'm telling you, man, Cardinals are
going to be that surprise playoff team in the NFC
this year. They get in it like ten and seven
and suddenly it's whoa, We don't want to play them
because Kyler Murray's a bit dynamic. My surprise playoff team
in the NFC this season, like all of it.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Can you get him into the second half of the
season still playing on turbo mode. I like the Connor
Benson opportunity knocks and they go take a road victory
plus one and.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
A half exit out bout of Fresca, exit Swollen Dome.
Coming up next. More Football Friday Preview. Two NFL teams.
