to break down a big week four in the NFL.
Joining us now, I'm the hotline of man who asks

(01:08):
and answers all the big questions. Longtime NFL insider Odyssey
Washington Post one A five to seven the fan in Baltimore,
and he We're gonna start with a question he asked
on social media just a few hours ago. In these
trying times, we must face the truly daunting questions head on.

(01:29):
So I ask, would you attend a primetime NFL game
like tomorrow night?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Rocking sunglasses through its entirety? Is this socially acceptable behavior?
Jason Lock and Forward take us behind this in depth
analysis that you put up earlier today.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Well, I don't know if you caught it. But Eric DaCosta,
the much heralded general manager of the Baltimore Ravens, who
carries himself as like he's on many ranks but hasn't
happened Every year people tell me he's the greatest M
in the league and has the greatest roster in the league.
And I'd say, well, where are the pass rushers and
what the hell would ever happen if Nomni Medabk got hurt? Well,

(02:08):
they don't have any pass rushers, and we're finding out
about Nominni Medabk getting hurt and Eric DaCosta, unlike most
gms who are nondescript and sit in a press box
and don't know where every camera is on the sidelines.
He's dressed up like some kind of crazy men in
black cosplay. I guess he fell Halloween at the end
of September and not October, including sunglasses, which, unfortunately he

(02:30):
kept showing up on the TV repeatedly looking like a jackass.
So I asked that question, and I think the people,
I think the people have spoken. So yeah, if I
was the owner of that team, I'd say, Hey, why
don't you keep dressing up with every day's Halloween until
you get a real defense around here? Like that's what
I would say, Hey, keep that outfit on, where are

(02:51):
your sunglasses? Twenty four to seven until you fix your defense?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Currently weird but not terrible in the lead with over
eight on at Jason Lockin for on Twitter is where
you can find that poll. But do they they find help?
I mean, or they just score forty points a game.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
No, they're they're in trouble. I mean, David Bryant is
probably gonna be the starting nose tackle this weekend, like
they just signed it. Like, I mean, they're in trouble.
Travis Jones, who was holding up okay through three quarters
and how to get used to life and you know
in the trenches getting double teams. He's banged up, you know,
Proderick Washington, a true run stuffers banged up. Michael Pierce

(03:33):
retired like no, they're they're they're in a world of
hell hurt. Roquan Smith is a five million dollar linebacker
who they pay twenty million dollars to because you know,
they gave up a lot to trade for him in
mid season. Now there's a lot of holes that are
getting exposed and are going to continue to get exposed.
You know, they paid Derrick Henry again. We'll see how
that works out on him. They didn't have to, they

(03:55):
already have signed and they don't want to give any
money to anybody to rush the passer. There were three
guys on the street who had ties here, who were
all on the street late until the summer, and we
kept asking on my show, like so is Darius Smith?
That cut on to Davion Clowney. Clearly they've got an
extra six million to eight million on the side. But

(04:17):
one of those guys right turned out not so much,
you know, and mister men and Black crowed all off season.
But I didn't have that much work to do because
his roster was so great, Like his words, not ours,
and most of all seasons, I'm so busy. But you
know this year, don't really have much to do. I
better get his quarterback extended. Uh so, yeah, I mean,

(04:38):
you know they got people around here to take victory
laps in the summer because they spoon sye nonsense to
people in the media who will gladly spit it out
like a baby bird, like it's getting said by a mama.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Now you said the magic phrase right there, You're the
magic player. They are Jadavian Clowney. Now, clearly he's going
to be able to wipe away all of the Cowboys
defensive ills on against the Packers, right, like Packers like
like Cowboys forty nine thirteen Sunday. Right, that's what's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, well, maybe the other way around. They could have
really used Teddy Klark for this one on the other
side too, because their run defense was at least holding
up in Dallas a little better than I thought it
was going to coming into the year. No. I mean, look, Clowney,
he doesn't really want to do anything in the offseason.
That's part of the reason he waited so long to sign.

(05:28):
So the idea that he's in anywhere close to football.
Staatee is crazy. No, I mean, I think Dallas is
allowing seventy two per completion percentage against them, three hundred
and sixty passing yards a game, seven passing touchdowns to
one interception, and now they're going to have a pissed
off Packers team after they blew that one to the Browns,

(05:49):
and you know obviously the revenge factor with Parsons. Yeah,
I think that's Dallas isn't good at home anymore. I
mean Dallas a couple of years ago at least good
at home. I think that's one four of his last
eleven at home. Yeah, I think that could get pretty ugly.
Green Bay's court atly thirty one points the last five
times they face Dallas regular season in playoffs, and Matt

(06:12):
la floor is a demon against the spread in September,
and Matt Lafloor is twenty two to eleven and one
against the spread in prime time. I think he's twelve
and three against the spread on Sunday Nights football. So yeah,
I was following the trans Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Air yards per target, Jordan Love was one of the leaders.
So let's let's see it go up against that eber
flues d once again. As we flow through Week four,
coming up, all right, Jackson Dart gonna get his first start.
I think we all had it circled for the game
against New Orleans, but now he's got the Chargers. Yeah,

(06:49):
break glass in case of emergency. The flare is out
for the Giants. What do you expect?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
I don't expect a whole lot. I think, you know,
people are getting carried away about a couple of prefet
and performances. This is a very different task. I mean,
Chargers defense is one of the three dust in football
I think. I'm they've allowed six first quarter touchdowns since
Jesse Minted took their defense over last year. I mean,

(07:15):
that's that's ridiculous. So he's probably going to be playing
from behind. That's going to be trouble. I think his
legs will make them interesting, like a little bit like
I think they'll activate that. Maybe he hits neighbors a
few times, you know, on the run, scramble, drill, breakdown stuff.
But I think it's a real tough assignment for him.
It might be a letdown spot for the Chargers. You know,

(07:36):
Hardball's not go for the throat guy. They'll probably be
a little too conservative and a little too cute. I
would maybe take that spread down a little bit and
pair it with Herbert so at least two passing touchdowns.
But no, I don't think Jackson Dark is going to
immediately invigorate that slumbering offense or anything like that.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
What do you make of of the Tom Brady stuff
the last couple of days with obviously his conflict, he
puts out this this this statement today about the conflict
of interest between him owning part of the Raiders and
of course being broadcaster for Fox, and he said, listen, people,

(08:18):
he blames the conflict of interest on paranoia. Okay, now
I'm trying to figure out exactly what that means. But overall, like,
is this really that big a deal? Jay? I find
it hard to believe it's that big a deal. It's
not just something that's continually just made up like it's
a bigger deal than it is by the media.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah. I mean, look, he's got for a guy who's
had the world by the balls for twenty years now,
he's got quite the persecution complex. Like it really, Like,
I mean, at some point somebody needs to just tell
him what you want, Like you don't need to. You know,
you're not you're not helping yourself. But this garbage, like

(08:57):
he got special privileges because he's Tom Brady. Well knows
it and so does he. So it's fine, you know,
just double dip, make your money from the Raiders, make
your money from Fox, and let people sling arrows wherever
they want. You're Tom f and Brady, Like it is
a blatant conflict of interest, Like it just is you're

(09:20):
running an NFL team and you're getting access to information
and people and scenarios and you're doing a job that frankly,
owners don't do. Like you know, you kind of have
to pick one or the other. Like when you want
to own a baseball team and you have fifteen rotissery teams, like, oh,

(09:41):
I don't know the dude bought the Orioles. They tell you, hey, buddy,
you can't do your high stakes for tissery leagues anymore.
Like because it's kind of a conflict, Like it's just
not a good look, right, So like that happens, Like
that's real. So the idea that this guy should be
able to do anything he wants as a broadcaster, slash
team game owner. No, it's a little ridiculous, and they're

(10:03):
letting you get away with it. To just shut up
and get away with it.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Let's lean into the wanna bet for a second. We
got Thursday night football with Arizona Seattle getting after it.
Anything stand out to you in that one.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
It's a dead under series. I mean it has been,
and I lean that way. Seattle's won seven in a row,
that covered six of the last seven. Kyler Murray has
struggled against that defense. I am buying what Mike McDonald's
kind of selling defensively right now. And Kyler Murray at

(10:38):
home against the division does not cover. And Kyler Murray
as a favorite, which that game was, he was a
favorite most of the week at home does not cover.
I've taken it up around fifty two and a half
and most of my bets on this game, and I've
paired it with you know, Seattle getting some points. I've

(11:00):
paired it with Jackson Smith and Jigbo who's seeing forty
percent of their targets and Arizona struggling against number one
wide receivers. You know, I've pared it to him. But
reasonable stuff. I mean, you can watch oneament on my
Twitter at Jason lockinfor or at YouTube dot com backslash.
I want to bet with us for a forty five
yeunits since we launched this show, and I'll give you strategies.

(11:23):
I think there are some ways to bet distance in
smart correlated two leg parlays for plus money where we
can sort of cover our backside. But I think Smith
and Jigba has a game to make Sam Donald those
at least one touchdown pass. I think it's under, but
let's take it up into the fifties and go under. Yeah.
So those are some of my thoughts.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Again, get those thoughts on Twitter at Jason lock and
for that is at Jason Locking for a one O
five seven the Fan in Baltimore, Honesty Washington Post again
at Jason lock and for Jay. Enjoy the game, my friend.
We'll talk to you next week. Have fun.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
You guys are just saying thank you, all right, thanks ERP.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
There goes Jason Locking for who clearly I don't I
don't think I'm putting words in his mouth. Not happy
with how the Ravens have been run so far this season,
considering where their defenses where their personnel. Is not happy.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
He didn't even qualify it with, well, at least the
Chiefs offense is coming in this week.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, yeah, no, not even that.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
No, because he could have very just said, all right,
this week they don't face a team operating.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
No, no, no, he buried him, like, so Chiefs is
what actially and this is why I say certain things
are so wide open. That's now the worst division in football.
Worst division in football because the Ravens o best offense,
the best because the petitive exactly, it's Competitive's the worst division.

(12:46):
The Ravens defense is awful. The Steelers are just okay, right,
the Browns defense is fantastic. They should go get a quarterback.
Even though the Bengals gave up ninety fantasy points the
Vikings defense last week, they could still stay in it
over the course, and he like, this is the worst
division in football. If you can be bold and do
a couple of things, you can win the a f C. North.
Man You, me and Frostburg and ty Shirt could go

(13:08):
win the a f C. North.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
I only got one or two throws in me. No,
you have a pretty good full back. You're not gonna throw.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
We're gonna give you the ball in the in the
in the red sot Okay, you're you're you're our goal line.
I could be Cam Scannabo yeah yah yah yeah I
sugar not yeah yeah yeah tyshert s guy throw hospital
balls too over the middle.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Oh come on, Tyger, you gotta reach from pass.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
And then what's gonna happen is I'm gonna come off
the field to our head coach, Mancy Bolanos, who's gonna
rip off the headset and just yell at me like
that gets you, just ripping the headset off, going you
need to die? And I'm like, oh, it's Jason. Why
why is she got to be the head coach? She's
not allowed to play.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
I know you didn't include me in the group of right,
I made you the head coach. Oh oh that was
covering up.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
I made you the head coach, didn't I didn't have
I made you the head coach. So you're just giving
her the headset and advisor I'm giving Yeah, Well, we
already said she's got the gambling visor that she wears
all the time, the green one that's Spurrier. But if
you're saying okay on a football field, I can I
can see marching onto the field ripping your headset off,
and I would yell love to do that. I had
a player who does something wrong, I would love to

(14:13):
do that. I could absolutely see you Andy reading absolutely
your way to Travis Kelsey.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
I do it to my Tuesday night volleyball league all
the time. Oh I yell at my own team. It's
not not even coach. Okay, So yeah, that's one hundred.
You're right on the money, Jason.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
I could see that and following that and not just
yelling at it down the side until another coach says, hey,
hey coach, Hey coach, get back in the box, get
back in, get back in all right, head coach Moncey
Belogna coming up next, Hey, one head coach showed you
some guts today. Big NFL story coming up next, Jason

(17:23):
the two biggest quarterback stories in the NFL intersect in
a large way over the course of the last twenty
four hours. Number One, the Jackson Dart era is upon
us era. It is beginning this weekend. Good luck you
have the Chargers. And look, we talked about Russell Wilson
and going forward. Look, he's had a great reaction to

(17:45):
it so far. We saw stories today that he's like, yeah,
he's behind Jackson Dart, but did say, hey, I'm not
done yet. No, that's it, But I mean that's who
you would expect him. Yea easy rouse and like, no,
the whole image is a little odd, but not Can's.
He's finishing the season on another team either the Giants
will trade him at some point before the deadline, or

(18:08):
he will ask for his release and probably get it.
That way, he can hook on with a team if
they have an injury at some point later on in
the season. I'm sure Wilson's gonna stay a good teammate
everything else. But we get to the deadline, things are
looking pretty good. Darts the quarterback. Jamis Winston's the backup.
He's gonna go. We talked about this last night. Now,
when they keep those three quarterbacks, it makes sense. Oh,
why is Jameis Winston still on this roster? Oh, because

(18:31):
the Giants probably knew midway through the summer or early
in the summer, we're only gonna have Russ for the
first half of the season. And if we don't and
Russ is great and we're winning, it's a good problem
to have. We don't care. But likely we know how
the season's gonna go, and Dart's gonna be our quarterback.
We need a veteran backup. We'll have Jamis Winston, and
we're gonna let Russ go at some point, either via

(18:52):
trade or so we can set up and sit back
and hope somebody calls him for the stretch for the
rest of the season, which happened. You look, guys get
hurt all the time. He's a bet can come right
in throw those moon balls. I'll tell you what. But
Brian Dable is a I really have a lot of
appreciation and I tip my hat to him today because

(19:16):
he showed the guts that he absolutely needed to show
today by saying, this is my call. Okay, Jackson Dart,
this is my call now. Whether it is or not.
He knows I'm getting fired after this year if we're terrible, right,
I'm getting fired if we're terrible, we play bad? Okay?
So did maybe he push for Jackson Dart knowing that
I get him for the longest time I can and

(19:39):
the offense turns the corner. I don't need wins, I
just need production because I'll stay around if that's the case. Now,
Joe Shane is kind of insulated from this, right because
Dable comes out today and says, this is my call. Yes,
we talk about things, but it's my call. It's Michael.
He's owning it. And it's smart because he knows if
it doesn't work out, he's gone anyway. And else is

(20:00):
coaching Jackson Dart next year or arch Manning, And that's
how it's gonna go. So's it's a really gutsy thing,
and it's a smart thing to say. All Right, I
own it, and I know that this is gonna be
my next few months. Either I show I still got
it as a head coach and our offense is good,
or I wind up showing you that, well, we're not good,

(20:21):
we lose games, and they're gonna hire a new head
coach anyway. So it's a really smart thing he did
by owning this entire situation with Jackson Dart. And you
know what, quite honestly, like I said, Jackson Dart's gonna
have a Joe Burrow light type season. He is that good.
He is ready. And we've seen Brian Dable do it
before with a lesser talented quarterback in Daniel Jones, where hey,

(20:43):
for a hot minute, he turned Daniel Jones into Josh
Allen Lights and it was wow, look at this guy. Yeah,
they got their guy, and Daniel Jones got one hundred
and sixty million dollar contract from the Giants thanks to
that run at the end of the year three years ago.
I've seen him do it with less talented quarterbacks. Brian
Dables a pretty good offensive coach. Is he in over
his headle bit with the Giants, Yeah, because he only
won like one out of his last twelve or thirteen games.

(21:04):
But knowing that, what you need to do is just
show that this offense can score points and you can
be the head coach. It doesn't matter if you're three
and fourteen at the end. If you're three and fourteen
and Jackson Dart throws twenty five touchdowns between now and
the end of the season, guess what you win. You're
gonna be the coach next year. And now we're gonna
add to the team and bring in another playmakers. But
you have some young talent there that you can work

(21:25):
with and with neighbors, and especially now turning a Wandell
Robinson into a weapon that he was supposed to be
a couple of years ago. Scataboo's going to get an
extended look now with Tyrone Tracy out Scataboo, all of
a sudden, there's a bit of energy with the Giants,
and Jackson Dart has the guys out there for him
to succeed. I'm telling you he's gonna have a big season.
And it's really smart for Brian Dable to do this scataboo, scataboo?

(21:47):
Will you do defend and go all right?

Speaker 3 (21:49):
Got it?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Scatboo.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
But a lot of it is what else can he
do in this point, because if he says, hey, they're
making the change. This is what you know they wanted
to do up top as I win win you in
the locker room.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yeah, but he gets out, you're the guys. You have
to own. It is my call and in the locker
room it's my call. Okay, But that's just it. You've
got to do the cell job any anything less. Uh,
you're operating from an area of weakness. Uh, your locker
room is gonna kind of look at your side eye
because now you're you're basically saying, well, I'm kind of

(22:23):
one foot out the door, and this is my last stand.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
I mean they already told they look, they've already forced
my hand here after three weeks.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
This is all we got.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Uh, But you've got to go in an ownership. The
thing with Daniel Jones is, unfortunately he couldn't stay healthy,
couldn't sustain right, he was a guy, and now we
watch what he's doing in Indianapolis. Something we've chronicled going
all the way back to him uh in this offseason,
uh long a champion of his touchdown interception ratio, of
the ability to run and make plays with his leg.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Can he stay healthy? That that is the million dollar question. Right,
the guy had neck injury, these back injuries, you name it.
He's been the walking wacky doctor game operation of body.
Which side of it go buzzes?

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Right? Is me? No?

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Now he's down? But all of that to say for
Brian Dable, Yeah, you lean into this as much as
you can. You can put together an offense completely different
than what you're doing with Russell Wilson. Right, this is Hey,
do we have that second game plan that we put together?
I mean just think about that, like two completely different offenses.
What game plan are you putting together? It's Russell will

(23:31):
ok throw the moon ball? Okay, that's it?

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Like what do you put it?

Speaker 2 (23:34):
But everything is predicated on a guy that's basically gonna
drop back from center, might be able to go three
yards this way, three yards that way, and once or
twice he's a game. He may scramble. You're gonna he's
the guy that you can have design runs, You're gonna
se sign activities.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
You're gonna see a lot. It's gonna look like a
completely different Giants offense because Russ is limited. Look he's cooked, right,
he's at the end, and there's only so much. This
is not Russell Wilson twenty nine years old. This is
Russell Wilson in the last few weeks, and he's gonna
play in the NFL ever, so you know that, Hey,
we just have to go out there. We're gonna be
kind of vanilla and and you know, because that's all
we really can be. We are hamstrung now. Now it's

(24:09):
like the shackles are off. It's like, all right, I'm
ready to go, and lightning is coming out of my fingers.
I mean, the Giants have some pretty good playmakers.

Speaker 7 (24:16):
Man.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I've always been hind on Robinson. I thought, how do
you not get him? The ball War, especially in space
like that was really good. And now, hey, obviously Malik
Neighbors is a terrific wide receiver and Scataboo is the
you know, the the big cult hero now in New
York buying all his jerseys everywhere, Like the Giants are
going to show you some stuff. Man.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Well, what I think with Robinson, a lot of it
comes down to it's he's not an unscript receiver. You
need a little bit of a play being extended and
then he'll find uh some area in the zone to
work to. What he'll be curious to watch is the
running back situation. Obviously Scatabo becoming this full hero and

(24:56):
as you say, jerseys all over the place. But the
we'll also see some of Devin Singletary because he is
one of the better pass protectors as a running back
and can leak out as a receiver. So there's a
guy for fantasy purposes, keep an eye out. He'll probably
have ten touches a week and be a little bit
of a safety valve for the rookie to have another

(25:19):
option if the downfield doesn't work. But they'll get creative
because Malik Neighbors, you've already seen it for three weeks
with the inefficiency of the downfield efforts, getting the ball
in his hands quickly is going to be one of
the most primary responsibilities for this play calling going forward,

(25:40):
because you already see him getting a bit dissatisfied with
the efficiency these last couple of weeks. So there's your
first quarterback story, biggest quarterback story, the big change in
New York and This dovetails into the other big quarterback story,
which is of course Daniel Jones all of a sudden
turning into the Sam Darnold of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Daniel Joe is terrific. Right if you haven't been fantasy
and you just you picked him up beginning of the
season founder where we're like, oh my god, he's the
number three quarterback at all of fantasy. The Colts are three,
and oh forget the fact that I told you months
ago Daniel Jones is going to be the quarterback. The
Colts were going to be fine. They were my dark
horse super Bowl bet before the season. They were plus

(26:20):
ten thousand. Right now I feel it, Hey, all right,
I'm on Vegas to buy me out after this the
culture three and oh he's been terrific. And what Daniel
Jones should show you, right, this should be the big
lesson that everybody understands now through three weeks is that
it's not always about every quarterback, because you know, quarterbacks
get taken in third, fourth, fifth, sixth round. They're projects.

(26:43):
Maybe they break through, maybe they don't. But for the
quarterbacks taken high in the draft in the first round,
the best couple, the best two or three that are
out there. NFL evaluators are never wrong about the pure
talent that a quarterback has right now. There's many variables
that go into it, and it's getting a guy in

(27:05):
the right situation with the right playmakers. But they're very
rarely wrong about the talent level of quarterbacks taking that
high in the draft, taken in the first round, who
are going to be franchise quarterbacks. Daniel Jones, Sam Arnold,
Baker Mayfield, Gino Smith should show you one thing and

(27:27):
that is that for talented quarterbacks, for first round quarterbacks,
there is a system for everyone. There is a system
for every first round quarterback. You just have to find
the right one, and that that's way easier said than done.
Sometimes you find it with the team that drafts you.
Sometimes you find it with the team that you get

(27:49):
cut and you get picked up by. Sometimes it's the
third team that you get picked up by. Sometimes you
bounce around for a decade. But being a guy taken
in the first round or early second round, have that
talent level that people thought and they believe in, and
you wind up getting a gig like Gino Smith and
showing everybody that hey, I can be a mid, middle
of the pack quarterback and you get one hundred and

(28:10):
fifty million dollar worth of contracts when you're thirty two
years old. There is a system for everyone. Daniel Jones
I knew that was a system for him. And it's
not just Daniel Jones. There's a lot of quarterbacks that
can succeed in that system in Indianapolis, Right, there's lots
of guys.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Oh, we've been waiting for this guy to have Yeah,
a guy right, Snichen was probably where the seat was
going to get a little hotter.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Well, it'shitch and also shows who Anthony Richardson, Wow, you
really have one foot out of it.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Well, not to mention also the fact that Ballard boy,
he's at a vote conference. He'd been able to do
whatever the hell he wanted for a number of years
and we've been talking about that roster and this year
it's working well. Jonathan Taylor is still one of your
top running backs, so you get that balance. But to
your point, yeah, you need to eventually find that lucky Penny.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
There is a system for everyone. And the Colts number
one running back in the game, right, we forget the
Jonathan Taylor. You know, once upon time, like eighteen months ago,
was the best running back in the NFL. Opening things
up for the offense, you have four good wide receivers.
You have a lights out tight end. Now, I mean
you have dudes, right, and that's what I mean. Lots
of quarterbacks could success have success in this office. Baker

(29:15):
Mayfield can come from Tampa to Indianapolis and be successful.

Speaker 7 (29:18):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Lots of guys can change teams and be successful with
this offense because it's about getting the ball to your playmakers.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Daniel Jones is smart, He makes the right reads, doesn't
turn the football over, makes plays with his legs when
he has to because the field is wide open, because
how do you cover all those guys because they have
a lot of weapons there. Look, Josh Down's barely seeing
the football and he's probably the most talented wide receiver
on the team. Right, Alex Peers will catch one big
long pass a week. Right, you're waiting for big d
It's Pittman ever gonna be that huge monster we thought

(29:44):
he was gonna be. But now Tyler Warren has already
taken a big target share early on in his NFL career.
There's lots of guys that can do it, Daniel Jones
happens to be I'm the right fit for this offense.
There is a system there for everyone. It's just about fine,
and sometimes you can't and guys go their whole career,
they wash out of the NFL. You get frustrated, you're

(30:04):
not gonna stick around. I don't want to see it
through to the end anymore. And your first round career
that never gets off the ground. But the good news
is that more often now you will get more of
a chance because teams will come back to you because, hey,
life is miserable without a quarterback, and we'll take all
kinds of chances to see if we get the right guy.
So yeah, after three four years of not starting, or
maybe seven or eight years of not starting, if you

(30:26):
were a first round pick, early second round pick, hey
we'll give you that chance.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Man.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
So the tough part of it is you may never
find that system. But the good news is, hey, you
have a better chance of finding it now than you
ever have. No, that's it.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
We talked the last couple of years. You go to
twenty twenty three, what was it, sixty seven different starting quarterbacks?
Last year was fifty nine. This year we're already at
adding five six guys through three weeks of the season,
and that'll just keep going as we roll through. So
if you have the stay hungry mentality and you keep grinding, yeah,

(30:59):
you're gonna look at Jameis Winston, happiest guy in the world.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Three amigos. Now he's going into i mean, the second
decade in the league. May never start again.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah, but he's gonna be on rosters because he still
has a big arm and he's got the right added
you can throw three touchdowns in a game and three
interceptions in a game.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Damn well, you'll keep both teams in the game. Ready
for fun. With numbers ahead, AFC title odds for your
Indianapolis Coulture, right, I guess, oh man, they were plus
ten thousand for the Super Bowl. I would say, oh
AFC title loss a thousand. They're at four plus fourteen hundreds. Okay,
all right, but here you go.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Bill's Ravens, Chiefs and Chargers the only teams with better odds.
They're thirty five to one to win the Super Bowl.
This is where you tell me the end of the year.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Hey, when you made that bold prediction, I bought it
in Vegas and we're gonna make a lot of money
off it. Maybe money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money,
money money. Harm arm it harmit. That means we're getting wings.
Uh time, it's it's worthy. Nothing right now. Vegas will

(32:07):
buy you out at some point, they'll buy you in
proof of concept, at least through probably the wildcard round.
Time to find out what's trending right now in the
wide world of sports of someone who's been called the
Sam Darnold of Fox Sports Radio, because what's the wild
should walk around and say I'm seeing ghosts. It's Monty Blagos.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
Did he say that?

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Yeah, you don't remember the whole of seeing ghosts?

Speaker 4 (32:29):
Oh yeah, all right, yeah, okay, okay, yes, I forgot
he said that.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Yeah, yes, ghosts right around Halloween.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, all right. I uh you know,
I don't want to see ghosts. Ghosts. If I don't want,
don't don't show up in my world. I'm good. I
believe in you, but I don't need you to prove it.

Speaker 7 (32:45):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
Rokie Sosaki has proved that maybe he can come out
of the bullpen and help the Dodgers out.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Guys.

Speaker 7 (32:52):
He just struck out the side his last pitch reached
one hundred miles an hour, so good things coming out
of the bullpen for LA today. Dave Roberts mentioned that
Kirby Yates was going on the injured list because of
a hamstring injury and that ro Quesosaki was activated two
pitch out of the bullpen, so we'll see me comes
back out again. We're in the top of the eighth inning.

(33:13):
The Dodgers have a three to one lead over the Diamondbacks.
They are in Arizona right now. Arizona is a half
game back of the Mets for the final waldcard spot
in the National League. Mets lost today to the Cubs
ten to three. The Reds also lost to the Pirates
for three and eleven innings. Reds are one game back
and Saint.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Louis is still a high There are three games back.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Somehow.

Speaker 7 (33:35):
The Guardians defeated the Tigers five to one, so Detroit
has lost eight in a row. Cleveland is now in
first place in the Alsen Troll. Kylee Schwarber homer twice today,
bringing his total to fifty six on the season.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
pH Least crushed the Marlins eleven to one.

Speaker 7 (33:49):
Aaron Judge alris he homered twice, bringing his total to
fifty one, as the Yankees outscored the White Sox a
to one. Judge joins Babe Ruth, Mark McGuire and Semi
Soosa as the only players to hit fifty home runs
and four different seasons, while the Red Sox top the
Blue Jays seven to one.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
So right now New York and Toronto are tied for
the division.

Speaker 7 (34:06):
In the Al East, cal Rawley has a home run
number fifty nine on the season, and right now it's
all Mariners against the Rockies. Eight to one is a
score after seven innings in Seattle. The Angels currently have
a three to two lead over the Royals. If he cared,
it's the top of the eighth Innian and the Giants
have a three to two lead over the Cardinals at
home after seven innings.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Earlier today, the Brewers top the Padres three to one.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Milwaukee has won ninety six games, which is tied for
the most wins Enfranchise history. When it comes to the NFL,
San Francisco forty nine Ers quarterback Brock Party was limited
in practice today with that toe and shoulder injury, and
also no practice today for wide receivers Ricky Pearsol and
Jawan Jennings Giants said. Coach Brian Dable confirmed Jackson Dart's
going to be the starting quarterback for the rest of

(34:46):
the year, starting with Week four against the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
Russell Wilson is going to be the team's backup quarterback.

Speaker 7 (34:51):
As for Jaden Daniels, apparently he's feeling a lot better,
but he was limited in practice today.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
His status is still up in the air for Week four.

Speaker 7 (34:58):
As for wide receiver Terry mclach Warren, he was held
out of practice today. He has a quad injury, but
apparently he saw a specialist in core muscle injuries today.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Okay, do what you want with that information. Quad growing
going into the core muscle injury.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Does that not make sense. I'm not a doctor.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
I'm not I'm not even a little bit.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Core of his squad though, maybe the core of his quad.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
Yeah, it just sounds worse than I think they thought.
It sounds worse than This is.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Exactly exactly quiet skulls, I'm talking about medicine.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
I was just like, quad growing, core muscle, we're just
all messed up, yes.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
And everything else. Translation is not good. You could have
just said that that's what Specialist.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Fantasy, which which.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
Coming up next. We spent a lot of time the
last couple of months marveling at the new physique of
Luka Doncic. But there's a new physique, it's time to
marvel at after what we saw today. That's be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific,

Year Tour. Get your tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com.
That's Harlem Globetrotters dot com. So we spent most of

(36:48):
the offseason going Wow, Luka Doncic body transformation. Lookout, NBA,
Lagas are gonna win the title. Lucas motivated, mean and mean.
Look out, Lebron's gonna get traded. Oh and then today
we see it. Pelicans Media Day. Zion Williamson debut his
new physique. Ah, I've never felt better. This is the
best I felt. I could just walk on the court

(37:09):
and play. I haven't felt like this since my first
year at Duke. And everybody's reactions yeah, whatever, show me
on the court, Yeah yeah whatever. Oh but Lucas transferm
his like, yeah yeah yeah, seeing it before with Zion
seeing it, seen it. Yeah, let me see if you
can make it through a whole season. Let me see
if you can.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Well, but at least Luca, you watched him, even if
you've decided he was dowey or however you wanted to
describe it. He played, Yeah, and he stayed in games,
and he stayed in games, and he finished seasons. Now
was he the same player all the way through?

Speaker 3 (37:40):
No?

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Were there times where clearly he needed what we came
to with our guy, Rick Buker, the Lebron minute of hey,
you know what you run the offense on that side
of the court, Well, I you know, take a take
a breath. Yeah, we've seen plenty of that. But he's
still finished. With Zion, We've been teased repeatedly. Right, he
averages twenty seven. It's a game when healthy. When healthy,

(38:03):
look and and I have hope.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
I want to give him obviously, because it's it's the
same thing, right Luca midway through his career is doing
the I now, I know, I got to take care
of my body. Right there, there's nothing there's nothing bad
and there's nothing wrong with Zion midway through his career
saying I need to take care of my body. Job,
I need to change it. But the thing is, as
you said, you called him, call him doey Luca like you. Now,

(38:26):
I want a donut, Donuts, we can make that happen,
don't got it. I've got a card like I just
need to send someone down as you walk up to
look and you put your finger in a stomach like
the Pillsbury dope boy and go. I mean if he,
if he's aware of the commercial, he would go with
the bit, wouldn't he?

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (38:42):
And I mean when you get poked in the valley,
don't you laugh like that just because you know? I say, dude,
what are you doing? Don't do that? Which what are
you doing? Stop it? Don't know?

Speaker 2 (38:48):
I mean, I'm not saying there's not an element of weirdness,
but that's how you disarm it and really make them
feel self conscious for what they're doing.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
I do the cover the rolling stone. Ah, don't touch me. Uh,
but to be fair and to zig where you think
I'm gonna zag on this? Oh yeah, Zion and everything
and no, I give him the nod for understanding it's
time to take care of my body. He's midway through
the big contract. He said all the right things. Dude
just has to stay on the floor. Man, And for

(39:16):
everybody it comes to them at a different time. You
would like to see it happen for Zion earlier because
he had trouble staying on the floor. That's the one
thing I will say is that, Luca, Yeah, I need
to but but everything's going great. Why do I need
to change? I got a fine I can have, I
got all this. I can drink beer when I want to.
I can hookah, I can do whatever I want.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
Kyler Murray, when everybody's like, oh, he's playing video games
or whatever, it's like he was winning high spins.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
He was the first pick. It was a first round
picking baseball. It didn't matter. It's hard to sit here
and say, hey, you need this to happen, or you
need another one to go on, you need something. No,
when you are winning like this, it's hard to say
I need to change. So I would like to see
Zion do it a little bit earlier because he had
had trouble staying on the on the floor healthy. But no,

(39:59):
I feel like this is a this is a big
moment for him and that he has realized I absolutely
have to take care of my.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Remember how dominating was two years ago, right when he
played those seventy games, like all right, then he got
hurt in the playoffs, and then he gets hurt immediately
in the play No, I'm all positive on this versign
that was taunting at a whole level that was fifteen yards.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
Man, His success is better for the NBA. You know,
he's talented, that's the from the beginning. I've said he
comes into the league as the second heaviest player already,
that's the biggest that he's got to watch his weight
do this. He comes out. He was he's the second
heaviest player in the game when he came in. Like, okay, dude,
it's been a few years now, you have to you
have to take care of yourself. So I want to

(40:39):
I want to be positive for him on this that
this is going to be a good thing. And if
he takes care of his body, he'll be a dominant player. Man,
he'll be running up and down the floor, and it's
gonna be Oh, can we trade for Zion at the deadline? Yeah? Yeah,
maybe that's what it'll be.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
I've seen some rumors out there. Will leave those in
the offing for now, but certainly when you transform your
body this way, Look, he was already the human pogo
stick when healthy. Be even more curious to see how
much he plays above the rim in this weight. Positive
you get along the way, too. Doesn't need it, doesn't
need it.
