you can tell me in the next and Frostburg, I
got to see your face. I gotta see your face, Okay,
if you could tell me in the next five seconds.
What's the name of the team the globe Trotter's play
(01:13):
in every game? Wait, ask the question again. What's the
name of the team the Harlem Globetrotters play in every game?
They play?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Who do they play themselves? Yes, it's all about the question.
It's like you're playing yourself. Do you know what the
Globetrotters is? It's basketball?
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yes, very good, very okay. But do you know the whole?
You know the whole?
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Anything about the playing against every time?
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Who's the name of the team they play against? I
went to watch it one time. It was always them
against the generals?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:46):
How'd you find that out? Who texted you? I went
before my family? Okay, this whole time.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Generals? What generals? Oh it's that state, uh.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Washing, one of fifty General Washington, Washington generals whatever, Washington
generals either way, okay.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
General George Washington. Yeah, good guy.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
The guy it's the guy from the insurance head comes
to General rose up the moment you've been waiting for him.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Uh yeah, I know it's remembered. I know you were
told that somehow you'd be great on X fact, you'd
be great on X factor likenaring you down the entire time. Yeah,
it doesn't matter, Frosburger. Monsey said something name because they
want wings tomorrow night. Alright, I'll buy wings tomorrow night.
We'll do wings.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Moncey was just hanging out. She's still man taking left
her off the team when we were having a fictional
I made Monsey the head coach of this team because
she was all put me in, coaches, beat people up.
You see that as a.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Coach, she's the opposite of a player's coach. She is
someone who comes in. She's Bill Belichick my way or
the highway. I mean without dating someone you know, fifty
years younger or older than you. All right, that's true.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Uh so now you don't know how well that age?
Did you tell tysher that answer?
Speaker 1 (03:07):
What? I can't hear you.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Again?
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I know, no, I know. We'll get to that. Don't
change the conversation, don't you We'll get to that. Please
calling me.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Give me on.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
What people will do for free wings here at Fox
Sports Radio Radio. What do you think?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
I know?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
You leave food out, put a camera on, and wait.
In less than an hour.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
It's gone. Because not for you? Yeah, because yeah, yeah,
free for you guys. That's I mean free wings because
Alex Ticher got the generals of Washington. Of the generals
now very nice, very good. Okay, how about you ask
him a hard question? For one I did I somehow
I get like an X factor when people do stuff,
you go, I don't know how about it. Like there
was a guy an X factor the other night, like
doing this card trick and I will still exist. How
(03:50):
does he do that? I don't understand how he does that?
Speaker 3 (03:53):
But I know you're you're, you're, you're giving me sleight
of hand somehow, like somehow I know.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Tyser was told, are you watching that from a past?
They run from twenty five years ago?
Speaker 6 (04:02):
No?
Speaker 1 (04:02):
No, no, I I was watching online the other night
for some reason, the internet, for some on the interwept. No, no,
for some reason that came up there, No, no, no, for
some reason. Let me explain, for some reason that came
up in coordination with something else that happened, like, oh,
like something happened on a different show somewhere. Oh remember
(04:22):
when this guy did the tricks, So that came out
and that became a thing.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
But I will say, ever since he had his sojourney
into the desert, you know, for his spiritual and mental
cleansing and everything he did, he came back with a
lot of knowledge about sports. Yeah, no, it's bitch encyclopedia.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
So he knew, he knew they played the generals, but
he had to say basketball right, yes, basketball wow. But
I mean it's it's there, it's layered. Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah, some stuff comes to the forefront of your thinking
and then and then it just layers back in.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
You know, I'm gonna do tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I'm gonna come in with a bucket and no one's
gonna know if there's water or confetti, and then I'm
gonna splash it a tight shirt and then we get
into the thing.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
We wait and see what it is.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Well, I mean, if that goes wrong, and say you
chose the water process, you might throw a shock to
the system into your good old Alex I want to
and the board would just fritz out, sure, like in
the private parts, or like in private parts, when Howard
Stern spilled the drink on the on the audio, party
goes ah, or Homer when there's a nuclear melt down,
(05:25):
he goes, oh, I got it. He just walks in
and puts.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Water all over the board. Just just shirt it out, very
good Alex side shirt. However, you found that out Washington
General's I worked before. Very good.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Now I'm kind of picturing you know, you know who
he would be good. He would be good on quiz show.
Remember that great, great move. Oh my goodness, Paul Schofield.
One of the greatest performances in the history of film. Uh,
you know, the guy who was getting the answers in
twenty one and and and you know, had like a
big four week run as like the most popular champion.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
He was getting the answer at all time. And he
and Ray finds is like trying to convince people that
he wasn't Like, I think I should do that pretty well.
We probably could have done answers. We could have done
more on that one. Robert Redford passed and I mean
one of his I mean the answer is Habsburg Dynasty. Right, Yeah,
I don't know. I just thought it was just there.
It's in the air, it's all around. You just have
(06:15):
to grab that piece.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
It's like the data being transmitted across the inter West.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
That's a true point though, that's not there. That's not
a question. If I'm feeling in my fingers, I'm feeling
in my toes. It's not in my wheelhouse. Man of
War nineteen thirty two, Triple Crowd. Yes, sorry, I took
a second to get that. It's like Christmas, it's all
around us.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
That's a true story, though, Jason, you ever heard that
one about Michael Jackson with that song you want to
record at like three am? Okay, it's like managers like
I have to record this song because he woke up
and had a dream and his manager's like, dude, it's
three am. Why not do tomorrow's because Prince will have it.
It's the whole thing. Mike said, travels, Wow, I woke up.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Maybe it's like we find out like princes like monitoring
his dreams and like I got the beat, I got
the beat. I'm gonna do it.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
I'm gonna be There's a conspiracy show I would listen to.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Now you you want a great conversation, uh okbar baj
b amla from American Ninja Warrior and the conversations he
and he and I would have I would have over
who the more successful artist was between or who the
better artist was between Michael Jackson and Prince Like it was.
It was a conversation that went for years we were
in NFL Network together. I'm going, Prince is what Prince
(07:22):
has proven of the court. How could you say that
all that?
Speaker 3 (07:24):
I mean, it was a conversation that never it. It was
Michael Jackson versus Prince. Michael Jackson versus Prince. That's all
we got the end. No, Michael Jackson won because we
had a conversation with Paul McCartney and McCartney's like, hey,
you should own own your music, and he went and
bought a bunch of the Beatles music.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Game set match exit out about a Fresco exit swollen
down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike
carbon So we're getting wings tomorrow night. Congratula Alex ticsher
doing a good thing for everybody. Uh, speaking of doing
good things for everyone, the Mariners have just put the
finishing touches on a nine to two win over the
Colorado Rockies. They are celebrating, they're celebrating the division everybody's
(08:03):
on the field in Seattle. But they're also celebrating this
guy who earlier tonight hit home run number fifty nine
of the season, Cal Rawley. Big Night Right. We talked
about it. Aaron Judge to one runs number fifty. Yeah,
turns out cal Rawley wasn't done.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Climb over right down.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Sixty one, chee caerlad sixty home runs.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Your MBB movement.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
Charl Rolly a lot time.
Speaker 8 (08:49):
Done.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Had it on the train track. I don't believe it.
I just saw uh Marritors TV, followed by JG the brick.
There's your call. Sixty home runs now for cal Rally
sixty And we had the conversation clearly tonight, Hey Aaron,
Judge decided, all right, I'm here. I'm gonna announce myself
(09:13):
as ALMVP. Two home runs, fiftieth home run, fourth straight
year of fifty home runs. I've told you for a
long time cal Raley's the MVP. MVP and Player of
the Year are two different awards. Right, You did say,
hey this guy, because we look Judge across the board.
You look at Judge's numbers. Judges hitting fifty points higher
(09:33):
than cal Raley is. His war is higher, demonstrably high.
I mean, cal Rawley's wars pretty really good. It's like
nine to fifty, but Judges like one point one. Rally's
got more RBIs ten more home runs. You're talking about
splitting hairs between these two guys. This is a really
great year from Aaron Judge Right's great year, you know,
fifty home runs, one hundred and five, fourth fifty home
(09:54):
run season of his career. Right, great year, Right, awesome year.
Cal Rawley's the MVP. Barners have won the division. The
Yankees are tied for the division lead. They had it
and they lost it. Now they've tied Toronto. But what
Roley has done as a switch hitting catcher, sixty home runs,
this is stuff that nobody has seen before. And I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
When you do something that big that nobody has seen before,
there's no other argument. Like last year, Hey, I can
tell you till you were blue in the face. Francisco
Lindor is the NLMVP. He's done this, he's done this.
You take him away from the Mets, where would they be.
Shoe Heyo Tani, as good as he is, you take
him away from the Dodgers and he's still be a
really good team. Sho Heyo Tani, first fifty to fifty
(10:34):
player in MLB history. Shoeotani is the MVP, and it
should have been and it was going to be unanimous.
Right when you do something that we've never seen before.
That's a big deal. Not one of those made up
stats of you know, the first guy had ten home
runs in month of September in a non election year
in the twenty first century. No, this is we have
never seen a catcher in the history of the game
(10:56):
have a season like this, especially what you have to
talk about with the with with what you do defensively,
and there's games where he's dhing as well, so I
get it, but this is this is something we have
never seen this before. So yeah, when you talk about
Most Valuable Player and the Mariners winning their division, finally
looked like they may break through and this could be
the year we thought they're gonna have for like ten
years now. Yeah, cal Rawley's MVP.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yeah might have. Also, you know, look look over to that.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
I think they needed a graphics guy because it was
in the corner and it said champions. I didn't know
what they were champions of because the font the font
was bad Smith. But all of it to say that
you've got a guy with a nine to nine to
six fielding percentage right the platinum catcher is to what
he's done, zero pass balls and just been fantastic. Still
(11:44):
thrown out twenty one percent of opposing runners trying to steal.
All of that is on top of the excellence at
the plate, and you have the batting average, it leaves
something to be desired. He may hit two fifty before
it's all said and done, but one hundred and twenty
five RB you win the division. You might end up
being the number one seed overall by time it's said
(12:04):
and done, and you just look at the overall excellence.
Things you haven't seen before, right your old Jason Stark line.
Every night we see randomness and chaos and baseball, and
tonight the eleventh time this year he's hitting multiple home
runs in a game. Only three other guys have ever
done that, Judge being one of the others. But you
(12:26):
also look at Sosa and Hank Greenberg to add a
name from the past into the mix. There just a
remarkable consistency switch hitting. The big moment at the All
Star Game, like all of it becomes narrative and an
outlier to your point about Aaron Judge is that this
is the fourth time we've seen him have a fifty
(12:47):
home run season. You go back to his breakthrough back
in twenty seventeen when he came up and all of
the greatness that we've seen throughout his career. It's another
magnificency and he if you go into advanced metrics, he's
checking a lot of boxes along the way. But for
cal Raley, it's about twenty twenty five. It's about what
(13:10):
this team is doing. Rodriguez homer tonight is thirty second.
He's gonna end up with one hundred RBI on the year. Fantastic.
Cal Raley's is one of the great stories of Major
League Baseball for the twenty twenty five campaign. No IFFs,
hands and butts about it. On the other side, Schwarber's had.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
A great run. It's great right now.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Implied odds show Hao Tani ninety nine point eight percent. Well,
it helps when you know, after you know, the last
the last three and a half weeks, every game is
here's show Hao Tani five shutout, no hit innings, Dodger
bullpen that shut out no.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Hit innings, again and again and again and again.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
What he's done is era as a as a starter
this year, but overall has just been unbelievable. It's just
a matter of staying healthy for him. So all of
that as we watch the the Mariners still so elebrating.
Uh and the Trident. I need one of those triedent
cups by the way that they sell. Oh sure, yeah, yeah,
nice one. That What do you got, Frostburg. Do you
(14:11):
know how many home runs cal Rally's gonna hit on
the Dodger bullpen this weekend?
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Oh wow, let's he may have seventy four home runs. Yeah,
he'll set the all time record. By suddenly they're gonna
Benna beat McGuire. They're gonna bat him lead off, just
so he gets more at what's the what's what's the
cost of a round trips like to Seattle?
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Well, well, just you know what, TJ. Don't worry about
taking a plane. Just hitch a ride on one of
Rawley's home runs and you'll make it there nicely, don't you. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Because I was debating going out to watch Bears Raiders
up close, and then I saw what the cost was
to get in, Mike, I might as well just go
down the shot.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
You hate your eyes that much?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Well, that's a watch, Gino Smith, that's a Caleb Williams
is gonna throw four more touchdowns three hundred yards.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Come on, man, The Birth of Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
It could be the breakout game for Ashton genty two
against that defense.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
It could be sixty home runs for Cal Rawley. Now,
what is happening right now in Arizona? Thank you very much? Frossberg.
Dodger bullpen has blown yet another save for to four
Dodgers Diamondbacks. Dodgers batting in the top of the ninth inning, however,
warming up in the bullpen, looks like he's gonna come
(15:25):
in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning. Clayton Kershaw.
Kershaw's up in the pen. There was potentially could pitch
an inning tonight. Looks like we might see it in
the bottom of the ninth and hmm, I'm wondering if
this could be a foreshadowing of the playoffs. Maybe Kershaw
to close? How about that?
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Wooo?
Speaker 1 (15:43):

they get in the football, he has a big game.
Give me Marvin Harrison Junior on.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
The nicely done. I'm going a little deeper. Let's go
for the hat trick back to back weeks. Four targets
and a touchdown each week plus three eighty Tory Horton.
And then we look at the rushing exploits for Kyler Murray.
Thus far, he's been over thirty yards three straight games.
Let's make it four twenty five and a half is
the over under there? No James Connor. You'll look to

Speaker 6 (18:23):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promised in things we never

good at it because you've been over promising women for years. Well,
it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we want
(18:44):

on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Am I getting ready to watch a montage and Stranger Things?
Speaker 8 (19:21):
Is this song?
Speaker 3 (19:22):
It's just getting ready the trailer got released. I mean
you're starting to see some some push again.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
This is like the montage where they're all getting ready
to go to the upside down for the last time
and Dustin is figuring something out.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
But I went to watch something on Netflix. It was
feeding me. Hey, make sure you're caught up because it's
coming back.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Jason Smith of Mike Harmon Live from the Fox Sports
Radio Studios. This is why I love baseball. Okay, this
is why I love baseball.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Why y sixty? No, the me, little dude. We got
killed tonight. But it does have to have something to
do with it. Cal Rawley sixty home runs, MVP. Yes,
that's great, Mariners win the division, celebra right now in
the locker room.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, that's great. But what I love about this week
it's so full of anxiety, and there's no time to
make people comfortable. There's no time to say, hey, that's
all right, we'll get you back out there. Baseball's predicated
on the every day, right, So it's not about Hey, here,
the emotional lift that you have. It's not baseball is
(20:24):
one of those Hey. Over the course of the year,
you see how good a player you are. But this
final week, there is no time to be anybody's friend. Okay,
Like from the Mets code, I sanga not gonna pitch
again for the team. Right, the guy was Guy's an
a Hey, guy was phenomenal. Earlier of this season, right
started out with an ERA of like one and a half.
He was great, thought, he's gonna win the cy young
(20:44):
Guess what Now he's not even with the team and
he's not gonna pitch anymore. The Mets were losing tonight
six to two, Clay Holmes and Sean Maneya came in
to pitch, who have been their starting pitchers for the
whole season. They're scheduled to pitch on Saturday. Right, this
tells me the Mets aren't gonna go to them on Saturday.
It's pretty clear also.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Because they took him out of his routine and he
didn't know he was playing baseball for good.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Chunks of this game playout who relieved his whole career
until this year. But like the Mets, who need to
win every game to.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Get to the playoffs, Like, okay, there's only so many
guys you can start.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
This was their Saturday in a game they're gonna have
to win. And here come Homes and Manaia and they
pitched tonight, Like are they gonna still pitch Saturday? Like
maybe it was their throat day. So they go, but
I would be surprised. They go, You know what, can't
bring these guys back, can't bring Sean and Noya back,
can't do we gotta do something else. Someone else has
to start this game for the Mets. Right, the Mets like,
we can't yet, we just gave Manaia a seventy five
(21:42):
million dollars. Sorry, can't do it, can't go to you
the Dodgers tonight. Right, And this is where things get
really big, because last night we talked about how the
biggest X factor of the playoffs is the Dodgers' bullpen.
No bigger factor than that. If the bullpen sucks, which
it has, they'll go home in the first round. Right,
that's how how bad it is, so Dave Roberts. Now,
(22:02):
the Dodgers clearly have no time to make friends with anybody.
Now what do we see tonight? Roki Sasaki, right, comes
off the injured off injured, Yeah, comes in in the
seventh inning after Blake Snell pitches yet another gem. If
the Dodgers are smart, he's your game one starter in
the playoffs. But he comes in, throws one hundred miles
an hour, gets a couple of strikeouts. You're feeling great, right, Okay,
(22:25):
he comes out of the game first action a while,
you're feeling okay, he's a guy now that we can
go to him in the playoffs because here he has
one appearance. He looked really good.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Not that you have a big sample size, but you
have no time to say, well, we have to wait
and see. No, I saw the other guys have sucked.
He is pretty good. His fastball is live. Let's go
to it.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
I got you miles an hour, strikeouts, pay all you do.
Speaker 8 (22:47):
Ye.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Then the rest of the bullpen comes in blows the lead.
So now Dodgers Diamondbacks with the Diamondbacks and can pull
into a tie for the Wildcard.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
With the win. Dodgers Diamondbacks has tied at four a piece.
The bullpen blows it for the dodge again, four to four,
going to the bottom of the ninth inning. Who comes
in for the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth
Clayton Kershaw and he gets out of the inning, looks
really good. His ball looked live. We had the big
goodbye to Clayton last week, and you know, his final
start at Dodger Stadium. And here is Dave Roberts now
(23:18):
trying out, throwing all kinds of stuff at the wall,
hoping you get something that can work and get lightning
in a bottle. It's what the Mets are trying to
do with their bullpen. That's what other teams are trying
to do with their starting pitchers. It's what the Dodgers
are trying to do with their bullpen. Now, hey, Sasaki's
coming in right now. You pitch great, Guess what you're
pitching in the playoffs? Here comes Clayton Kershaw. Guess who
could be closing for the Dodgers, right Tanner, Scott's not
(23:39):
doing it. Twenty seven blown saves. Now for the Dodger bullpen.
Twenty seven man. Edwin Diaz blows too. When I gotta
stop watching the Mets for a day and a half.
Twenty seven Blown saves twenty seven The stick cruise to
that over that high window. I mean, I'm gonna be cruising.
Let's say they blow seven, which is a lot. Let's
(24:00):
say about it's twenty more wins man. Twenty seven blown
saves for the Dodgers. Now here's Clayton Kershaw in the
ninth inning. If you're gonna lose in the playoffs, I'll
lose with Kershaw on the ninth inning. I wonder if
he's gonna come in and close games. That's where their
role is gonna be for Kershaw, is he's going to
close games for the Dodge.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
But it's funny, it's exactly what we laid out a
couple of weeks ago as we watched the continued bullpen implosions,
particularly with how great the starting pitching had been and
everybody coming back healthy. And you talk about Sasaki being
ready now and getting an opportunity today, is you've got
an excess of arms. You've championed really riding the term
(24:38):
piggybacking as much as you can. But we chronicled when
we were talking about Clayton Kershaw and the end of
his starting run. You know, they dug out the pitching
rubber and all of that fun stuff, but what did
we highlight when he had to close the game out right?
One of the big seminal moments of his major league
(25:00):
baseball career came when they called the pen. And now
it's all hands on deck because Dave Roberts the analytics
throw the analytics out right.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
What you planned before this season? What you spent?
Speaker 3 (25:11):
That sunk costs and those contracts are sunk costs, and
I think the Dodgers recognize it. Look, we'll go sell
another painting will be great, But yeah, what was it?
What was the Tigers last year? They're they're playoff roster
Hovey Bias, who wasn't playing, was making more money than
the entire Tigers. Hey, these are our guys, doesn't matter.
(25:31):
We can't trust this guy, that guy, the other guy.
And that's where we're at with this Dodger squad at
this point as we uh, you and I pause and
try to evaluate what we just saw here. Uh in
the tenth inning. Uh, you just slumped in your I
(25:52):
just watched it was like I kicked you in the
gut Dodger in the middle of talking Dodgers that I
felt bad about it.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Just to tell you real quick. Dodgers Diamondbacks four four,
top of the tenth inning. So of course you have
a situation with the ghost runner at second. Kim is
the runner at second. Otani opens up the inning with
a strikeout, waving at a pitch that's ten feet outside
of the strike zone, and after a base hit the
Tommy Edmund Kim gets thrown out at the plate and
(26:19):
he is clearly out. He gets a bad jump on
the ball, he freezes the line drive to the outfield.
So now Dodgers Diamondbacks zip zip runner at first who
outs in the top of the tenth The Dodger are
challenging this, but they're not gonna win. And the Diamondbacks.
You know they're gonna win this game, and they're gonna
run a run poorn gatorade all over each other on
the field. We're tied for the wild card, but technically
(26:40):
we're in first place because we have the tiebreaker with
the Mets. I mean, come on, man.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah. On the initial play, as it was coming live action,
it's like, all right, did he slide around the tag?
Was he able to evade the sprawling catcher? The answer
was clearly no, no, no, four to four of the
tenth inning. But you're so salty. But I watched the
emotion in your face as and it made me feel
(27:07):
bad because you know, I've got We've got it on
multiple monitors here in the Fox Sports Radio studios, and
I'm finishing it. What was the salient point? And I
was going to pass the baton? I knew you were
not ready to hand.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
No, right there, not great, Bob wasn't good. It was
not good. Wasn't great, Bob wasn't great.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Look but look, yes, this is what did he check
his phone after he threw the guy out?
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Nobody?
Speaker 3 (27:28):
He pulls something out of his Yeah, no, he's looking
at the alignment card. He's looking at the alignment card.
That's what he's looked at.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Like, what the hell's he got in his head? It's
the alignment cars where we like to play the guys,
or like it was the alignment card. I really you
should have to memorize that able to have that.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
I don't think I don't think Corbyn Carroll is checking
its fundamn.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
But but no.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
But this is why baseball is great because it's the
end of the year and the desperation. If I'm sweating
it out, I want to see my team sweating it out.
And here are the Dodgers who were so desperate. Here's
Kershaw in the ninth inning, right, here's rookie Sasaki. Activate
we're gonna give them a start. No, no, no, coming
out of the bullpen.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
They have their starters, right, they have their starters, Blake Snell,
Yamamoto and most likely maybe with a piggyback situation. But
Otani will start the next game. Who knows how far
he can go, maybe five or six innings anything of that.
So you're good.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
You have your starters, right, You'll figure things out as
it goes on. But that's your first three. So what
do we do with the bullpen. You just got to
keep throwing guys out there. And I love that desperation
and anxiety and nervousness and what do we do? Sometimes
you just have to say, you know what, why the blank?
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Not right? Well, why not?
Speaker 3 (28:34):
But what I've been doing, and by running the numbers,
by running the probabilities and the histories of these players
clearly hasn't worked. Twenty seven blown saves over the course
of this season. We've watched it in time after time.
We've had a front row seat for these games. So
when you've got a guy like Kershaw, and a lot
(28:55):
of speculation was after that start, where we going to
see him again? Right when he makes the big announcement
and everything else, like all right, is this you know
a Queen's wave, King's.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Wave, whatever you want to do with it. Of hey,
that that's it.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
No, Instead we saw him up and circulating in the
bullpen earlier, prompting speculation. And then in the ninth comes
in fifteen pitches, eight for strikes, no strikeouts, but a
clean ninth inning to get you to the tenth and
then the unfortunate great throw on that single by Carroll
to cut down Kim at the plate, look, and here's
(29:29):
the thing, even though it would take a little bit.
The next four days after this, the Dodgers lose this game.
Their lead over the Padres is a game in the
head magic numbers at two to dion.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
It's a game and a half going to the final
series of the year, like this should have been where Hey,
we're resting right now. We don't have to worry about anything, right,
We're just getting our rotation. Maybe the Mariners are celebrating
too hard and won't recover for the wall. My goodness,
So again, look again, But the desperation we see like
is all we think. The excitement of Kershaw coming in
(30:01):
the ninth inning to close a game, right, Sasaki coming
in the seventh inning to throw one hundred miles an hour,
like this is exciting stuff.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
What do I always tell you? I want casts between
the white lines and the rest of the world. I
want in order, I want folks to mind the business
and treat each other with you know, dignity and respect.
Uh inside the white lines, man, I need storylines, and
that's what I got tonight.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike harmon. Uh time
now to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports. Someone who's been called the Edwin Diaz of
Fox Sports Radio because when wings are on the line,
she comes in for the save to get wings. For everybody,
it's Monty Belangos.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Y'all.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
The Dodgers suck creakings, Like what is this? Yeah? No,
not great, Bob great.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
It's like when you're like, just when you're like, they
can't possibly blow another stick?
Speaker 1 (31:05):
How many more games during the season.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
There's no cal Rawley is going to hit five home
runs against our pen on Friday.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Absolutely, he's gonna reach seventy two home runs. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
twelve home runs the final three games? Why not? Why not?
Speaker 5 (31:19):
At this point, let's go what what?
Speaker 1 (31:24):
And right now?
Speaker 5 (31:24):
Freddie Freeman didn't even didn't even swing on that last bitch.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Not like him. That's not like him.
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Not great, bob, Hey, it was meal.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
The Dodgers Diamondbacks tied up four piece.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Yes, it is the bottom of the tenth inning in Arizona.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
And Arizona right now.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
Just a half game back of the Mets for the
final Walekar spint in the National League. As a Mets
lost earlier today to the Cubs ten to three. Reds
also lost to the Pirates for three Paul schemes, though
by the way he pitched today Levy Dunn lovey girl
was watching her boy play her man. He is now
the Pirates single season strikeout leader among right handed pitchers.
(32:09):
Of course, doesn't matter for the Pirates, but Paul Skins
is still awesome. Guardians defeated the Tigers five to eight.
Cleveland now in first place in the AL Central. Detroite
has lost eight in a row. Phillies crushed the Marlins
eleven to one. Kyle Schwarber two home runs, bringing this
total to fifty six. Yankees outscored the White Sox eight
to one. Aaron Judge two home runs, bringing his total
to fifty one, joining Babe Ruth, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa
(32:32):
only players to hit fifty home runs in four different seasons.
While the Red Sox top the Blue Jay seven to one.
So right now New York and Toronto tied for the
division in the AL East. Two home runs for Cal
Rawley bringing his total to sixty as the Mariners blew
out the Rockies nine to two. Seattle has won the
AL West for the first time since two thousand and
one where eachiro is a rookie, where Julio Rodriguez was
(32:54):
eight months old.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Wow, wacky way.
Speaker 7 (32:59):
Back quarterback school exactly, exactly, just unreal. NFL news Chiefs
wide receiver Xavier Worthy full participant, putting him on track
to play Sunday against the Ravens. Bucks wide receiver Chris
Godwin full participant in practice today.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
Good news for Tampa Bay Seahawks are listing running back
Zach Charmoney is questionable for Thursday night against the Cardinals,
and Tom Brady wrote in his newsletter. In his newsletter
that there is no conflict of interest between his job
as a Fox broadcaster and a Raiders Limited partner, he
said that those who believe that there is a conflict,
they are paranoid and distrustful.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
M Yeah, he'p. He's not what He's getting his cake
and eating it too. What is he not happy aboutrustful?
Shut up?
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Tom times.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
I said that at like two am at a party
on a Saturday night. Dude, you're paranoid and distrustful. No
one took your beer. No one took your beer. Man,
I'm going home.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
You're an expert at that you've seen that happen to
you live and in color.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
He had a yeah, he could take your view. You
get happen at a party, well documented. Thank you very much.
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon dot.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
No.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Dodgers Diamondbacks bases loaded for the Snakes, four four bottom
the tenth inning, one out.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Will have more in this game coming up next, as
well as I can tell you why the most overrated
NFL topic of the last week is still going strong.
That's next, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Dodgers and Diamondbacks headed to the eleventh Dodgers going out
of a the runner at third, one out. Jam Blake
Trining comes in, gets the final out of the inning,
so they play on in Arizona. Human white flag that
brought him in. Yeah yeah, as soon as what did
I do? And when he started walking in, It's like, great,
(35:12):
this game's over. I walked out. Unbelievable. So baces loaded, chaos.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
The most overrated story of the last couple of weeks
continues to gain traction, and it doesn't make sense. But
at least I can tell you why. Tom Brady is
now pushing back on concerns that there's a conflict of
interest between his role as a Raiders minority owner and
Fox Sports broadcaster. So he's got a weekly newsletter called
do your Job, How about That which was published earlier
(35:42):
to do in which he wrote that only the quote
paranoid and distrustful believe there's conflict in his roles quote
my roles in it. Intersect is not actually a point
of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe. Rather,
it's the place from which my ethical duty emerges to grow, evolve,
(36:03):
and improve the game that has given me everything. I
think we need some.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Kind of like Robbie Schenker, some sort of like new
Agent Sitar behind your home. It is for the paranoid
and distrustful who believe that this is something that is
a big deal. I'm gonna make that shirt tonight. Paranoid
and distrustful. Look again, it's overrated.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
No one's walking into a meeting, broadcast meeting before the
game that Brady's doing. No one's walking No coaches are
walking in telling every all the broadcasters their secrets.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
It's just stupid. It's stupid that people think this is
going on, and it's a huge conflict of interest. There
was never it would have come up before now, there
would have been concerns now that hey, so and so,
former Raiders legend doing games, he's gonna tell the Raiders stuff.
Former Steelers legend's gonna tell the Steelers stuff. He hears no,
But because it's Tom Brady, it's a big deal. And
(36:57):
the reason this is going on is because even though
Brady's retired, we're at the point now where we are
still in the afterburn of Brady being the biggest NFL
star of the past two decades. Right.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
We love Mahomes, we love Lamar Jackson, what other guys do?
We love them? But Tom Brady is still the greatest
quarterback any of us have ever seen, and he's had
the career better than anybody, and he's someone that when
he does stuff we pay attention to. If this was
Troy Aikman, if this was Tony Romo, nobody would care.
Nobody would care about those guys. But it's Brady, so
(37:34):
everybody cares because we care about what he does in
that way is like Lebron. Lebron does off the court
we care mentally about, and Lebron's a little bit more polarizing.
But Brady's someone we still want to talk about. And
he's doing a thousand things, probably too many, which, to
be honest, maybe a little bit less and do a
little bit more broadcasting. I don't know, because you see
what you're struggling at, what you're trying to do better at.
(37:56):
But he's doing a thousand different things. So we can
pick what we like, whether we want to talk about
him owning the Raiders, where you want to talk about
him being a broadcast or all that. His card shops
are pretty cool. Yeah, so he does everything right, He
does all these things, So we pick and choose and
want to talk about because Brady is still staying in
the public consciousness.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Right.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
So with that being said, I can tell you exactly
how to help Brady and win people over and tamp
this thing down.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Right.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Some about solutions, right, it's overrated, it's a whole big thing.
But the way you help, the way you can tamp
this down is Tom be a little loose with stuff,
Be a little self deprecating, okay, be a little bit
of I don't know how the headset works in the
Raiders in the Rain. I haven't been in a meeting
in months. I don't know what's going like there's a
way to But he's so serious about everything he does.
(38:45):
He's incredibly serious with every single bit. And I love
that you take yourself serious what you do for a living.
That's awesome, right, because you should be due. You're doing
this for a living for a reason. But not everything
needs to be the paranoid and distrustful and giving back
to the game and the moracle and duty to the sport.
Like dude, you could just say a couple of fun
things and people would just like it more and they
(39:06):
would give you a bit of a break on it.
And there's so many things you can do. Everything doesn't
need to be life and down. Look look at Peyton Manning.
He was the most serious guy we had seen. Look
at what he's done the last year's in retirement. He's fun.
He doesn't mind poking fun of himself. He doesn't mind
being the butt of a joke. He doesn't he doesn't
mind any of that, and so Peyton Manning's become so
beloved over the past few years. Brady can do that
(39:28):
as well. Don't mean to change who you are, but
just hey, give us a little bit and you take
care of the avalanche of criticism that comes in on you.
Just everything doesn't need to be. Hey, here's paranoid, distrustful man,
let me tell you about it. We don't have to
respond to it. Right, you're trying to get better in
that role. Great folks don't like it. Tough no geese,
(39:48):
as they said when we were kids. So it doesn't
really matter. Like people can do their handwringing and whining
all they want. The NFL's made their decision unless something's
substantive comes out right that that you can back it.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Up with Antonio Piers saying the nebulous, well, you know
it was an immense help. Okay, specificity, you want to
say this is bad business, all right, then then go
out and let's let's hear what you got, because otherwise
it's a it's a perception thing. Certainly, we've talked about this, right,
perception versus reality. It's the old Just because you're paranoid
(40:25):
doesn't mean they're not out to get you kind of situation.
There may be something, There may be some little snippet
that gets passed along, maybe even inadvertently, in conversations that
Brady has and with anybody on that Raider staff. But
nobody's walking into those meetings saying, here's all our books.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
No, of course, you think this is the first time
this would have come.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Just like you guys fifty years any ex Bro player
that's been in a booth can run out of any
meeting and run I say, hey, you're gonna see those
guys in week seventeen. Guess what you think there wouldn't
have been somebody say, hey, if you have ten thousand
dollars for me, I have what they're planning on doing, right.
I mean not to take it in that direction, but hey,
(41:11):
we've seen gambling stuff like it would have happened before.
Now suddenly now is oh Brady, it's a huge conflict
of interest. I mean really, because I could sit in
a meeting and a coach is gonna tell me something
that that oh hey, don't tell anybody. But wait till
we run this play. We have this trick play coming up.
You're not gonna believe it, man, we're gonna run. It's
gonna be the statue of Liberty and we're gonna fake it.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
And the guy's gonna put the ball under his belly
and gonna run the other way, and bring's gonna go. Okay, Hey,
Pete Carroll, watch out for the statue Liberty, ball under
the belly. They're gonna run it. Second corner.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
I always remember a lot of these folks were mad
that he was married to Giselle.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome coming up next,
not one, but two of the biggest high lights of
the night that people are gonna be talking about for
the next twenty four hours. Jason and Mike. This is
Fox Sports Radio.
