Speaker 1 (00:33):

worst sport. I don't know why it was invented. I
would never watch a game. This sports sucks. I can't
believe I spend time watching this game cause I hate baseball.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I really hate baseball.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
It's my least favorite. Baseball is terrible. I would rather.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Watch something else than m E. T As the Mets.
I hate baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Now, Greetings, welcome inside, Happy Friday, and is well. I mean,

Speaker 3 (01:40):
But how can you not be romantic about baseball?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Red socks clinch a playoff, berth on a ball slammed
off the monster.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Come on, yeah, oh yeah, that's great.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
That's great.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Now base and the Tigers lost again. Come on, it's
baseball and it's fine.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Is Baseball is terrible. It's the worst sport. It's absolutely
it's a worst sport.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
I can't.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
We got Dodgers in the in the Mariners. That's exciting,
standing to home runs, judging a home run. I mean,
it's all sorts of positivity.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Man, if cal Rally hits like six home runs tonight, maybe,
but I mean outside of that, I mean, I mean,
come on, man, who invented the sport and said this
is gonna be fun for people?
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Come on, man, just because you keep getting sucked back in.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Man, we tried to get you to calm yourself down.
I love the little kid in you. I do.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
I've said it all along for those new to the show,
welcome in. We appreciate you becoming part of the extended family.
One of the things we love about Jason is that
he still has that little boy hope springs eternal and
he lives and dies with every result. But the problem
is you can't ever detach yourself long enough to recognize Okay,
(02:48):
I just need to let it ride right out. I
got you know, sheep amversing yourself right. You say that
you got all excited earlier in the week, backing out
today you hate baseball again because what I.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Tell you earlier this week, I don't know why I'm
getting excited, because the Mets are just gonna take it
down to the final game and then break everybody's hearts
because that's how the Mets do it.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I would rather than just.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Lose the first four games of the week, go into
the weekend with no shot.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
You're done.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Okay, great, No, No, They're gonna take it all the
way down to the final game on Sunday. They're gonna
not get in and it's gonna be another time of
all Miami is the Mets House of Horrors, and here's
another time. The last season, last series of the season
the Marlins knocked the Mets out of the playoffs, will
have nothing to play for.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Like I knew this is how it's gonna end. I mean,
I know.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
It's like you know, and like I'm watching I'm watching
a movie that's got a lot of twists and turns,
and I go, no, I think I know this is
gonna end.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
It's gonna disappoint me.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Oh no, no, maybe it's got no no, I'll but
ended just how I thought it was gonna And you
know what, I disappointed.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
The Marlins have more World Series titles in our lifetimes
than either of our teams.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
They made the playoffs four times, the Marlins, They've won
the World Series four times.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
They've made the playoffs and they've won the World Series.
That's it.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Man.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
They don't taunt you when they're in. They are in,
and then they divest as fast as they can.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Boy, well, I gotta say this.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
There is there is another group, fan group that is
sharing my pain tonight outside of Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
You gotta take the pain.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, there is another fan Because we are on the
verge of a huge top twenty five upset in college
football right now to forty three to go in the
fourth quarter, Virginia has just picked off Florida State in
the red zone. Florida State was driving from it would
(04:35):
have been a game tying touchdowns. A deep drive to
the left side of the field by costiganos.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
H decent for that two sent Come on, he's got
a rushing touchdown.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
And a deep thrown on left. That's I want to apologize.
Virginia three and one in the ACC two and a
half minutes away from the big upset over the eighth
rank Florida State Seminoles. And I guess part of this
is my fault, because look what was it week two
when I said Florida State's back and all they're back.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
You just wanted to keep.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Yelling Little Tommy was going to lead them to the
promised Land.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
You could see the fans are ready to storm the
field in Virginia. It's a They've all come all the
way down to the to the sides of the end zone.
So they're going to run on this field as soon
as it is humanly possible.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Now there is time left. There is two and a
half minutes left to go.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Florida State does have all three timeouts and it is
a high scoring game. So it's not like, you know,
they're having a trouble moving the football, but this could
be a huge upset in college football because look, and
let's be honest, this would it would suck for Florida State, right,
But this is when you talk about the bigger picture
for college football.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
This is the.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Kind of season the ACC had in mind with how
are we going to get back to being the number
three conference in college football or maybe on one that
can compete with the Big Ten in the SEC? Right,
because look, look you look at the top twenty five,
twenty three teams are from the Big Ten or the SEC. Right,
you have a couple of teams for the ACC. The
(06:04):
ACC has really struggled in recent years to stay relevant, right,
and the Big Ten of the SEC had just roared ahead.
And for a long time, well, hey, the ACC was
kept alive by Clemson in the late teens. Clemson, Miami,
Florida State have always been the royalty. But then there
was rumors they wanted to leave a few years ago.
And now Clemson is down. But you see the resurgence
(06:25):
and it's a large conference and it's not just a
team like Syracuse and fran Brown getting all kinds of
run in the media the last couple weeks with the
upset of Clemson in depth Valley of Virginia, who is
could be on the verge of going to four and
one tonight. Suddenly the depth of the ACC is really good.
And this is exactly what they need because quite honestly,
they want to stay a conference, right, I mean being
(06:46):
you want to stay, that's the thing. You want to
stay a conference. You don't want to be shuttled into
obscurity like the Big Twelve. You're like, yeah, we'll take
one team from the Big twelve on the playff that
you're looking to say, Hey, we want to see it
at the big table. As college football continues to evolve,
and clearly it's Big ten, and I'm telling you big
ten in sec don't be surprised if in a year
or two years it's gonna be we're forming our own
super league, the okuful super league from ted last. We're
(07:09):
forming our own super league, all own television contracts, our
own money, everything is out.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
We're going to do this. And the AEC is like, hey,
wait a minute, we're.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Pretty good conference. We're gona We've got a lot of
history here, we got some teams. All right, you have Miami,
who's a top team this year. They're better than they
were a year ago. Carson Beck has been fantastic. You
have a few teams now dotting the top to top
twenty five, but you have depth, and that middle of
the pack is starting to rise up a little bit,
those Syracuses, Virginia's and Dukes and even North Carolina depending
on how the rest of the season goes. With Bill Belichick, like,
(07:37):
you're seeing some of those teams start to take a
little step up now where the ACC is is kind
of coming back to the land of prosperity was at
and they need to this year because I'm telling you
another year and the big ten of the SEC are
gonna go. Don't we carry in these dead beats around
for you dirt bags have been in third place for
five years? What are we carrying you guys around for?
We're doing our own thing.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Well, we've already seen the proposed law suits and whispers
of secession and all of those things for the last
couple of years. Hey, we want a larger piece of
the pie, Florida State being one of the squads leading
that charge. So yeah, it's that inevitability. Right, we watched
the crumbling of the PAC twelve, and we've watched all
this realignment. I remember when the Big ten was actually
(08:20):
ten teams, and then they said, hey, Penn State would
be fun to add. And then it just kept going
and it was the next annexation. Hey you want to
jump on board here, and then you know, with the
blood in the water, it became the USC and UCLA.
We'll get to the whining of Lincoln Riley or is
he Cagy like a fox coming up in a little bit,
(08:42):
but like a fox like for.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
The Simpson where he kept saying like a fox.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Florida State was a seven point road favorite, and this
one you had an over under a fifty one and
a half that they blew through dice and easy. A
reminder for all those fans on the sideline, it's fifty
thousand dollars. Fine, if you storm the field, second offense,
hundred thousand, then it gets to two hundred thousand.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Dude, they're gonna make a lot of money in the
next few minutes if they hold onto this.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
You used to make a giant cage over the top.
They keep showing, they keep showing. All the fans coming
down the hell ready to get up. It'd be funny
if it was like the old NWA and it's like, oh,
it's war games. Like it's descending from the ceiling to
the giant cage and that's where it'll come.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Down over the football field.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
It's like the Jets game Sunday when Aaron Glenn is
dancing on the kick on the block field goal return.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Meanwhile, there's a minute and a half left to go and.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Baker Mayfield is getting the football like there's still two
there's over two minutes left to go. To give you
an update on this game really quick, because I got
a big hot take for you from you mentioned USC
a couple seconds ago. So Virginia ran the ball three times,
made Florida State use all their timeouts, and so there's
two eighteen.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Left to go.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Florida State has the football, plenty of time to get
down the field for it could be a game time
or go ahead touch and if they decide to go
for two thirty five twenty eight taking over first and
ten from their own thirty three yard line, So still
lots of time for the Seminoles to get back and
tie this game.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Potentially we could be looking at overtime.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Chandler Moore is twenty five to thirty two in the
game from Virginia two twenty three, two touchdowns, two picks
twenty five and thirty two. And they say, you know what,
let's just run the ball three times, so only twenty second.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
You don't have a scripted play.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
That you can do a quick easy throw out to
the side, maybe get a little bit of yack, find
a first down there.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I don't know. Two minute warning bad it was a
deep scramble left by Costeanos. Sorry he's rolling off.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
He had to scramble to midfield. Gives Florida State first
down from midfield. We're at the two minute warnings. We'll
have more on Florida State Virginia coming up in a
few minutes. Look, this is at least would be the
first big upset. What could be big ups at weekend? Right,
eighth rank four of state in big time trouble. But
they have the football they are driving against Virginia. Now
(11:04):
you mentioned USC and I gotta be honest with you, right,
there's there's you know, four or five big games tomorrow. Well, look,
will Preview give you our picks for Oregon. Penn State,
Alabama Georgia. But I'll tell you, I know it lost
a little bit of luster last week because of the
result last week. But USC in Illinois is a huge
game because I've told you now from the beginning of
(11:24):
the season, Hey, maybe USC is back, right, And with
every week I start thinking, no, they're back, they're back,
They're back, They're back, and you know, it's a bit,
you know, to stay undefeated with Illinois tomorrow, then another
game that they have Michigan in a couple of weeks
coming up, Like, USC has been terrific and that's the
team I'm so in that USC is back, right. Jade
(11:48):
Maiva has been fantastic, right, so good that he's gonna
could if he continues on this path, he's gonna be
at the top of the Heisman race soon because he
has been doing everything that us he could possibly want.
Now you want to see him continue to do it
against good competition now that the games are just getting
a little.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Bit bigger as each week goes on. And I get
that for him.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
But while I'll tell you what he's getting in the
Heisman race really really soon.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
He is currently tied for fifth.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I'll tell you he's he's played so well so far,
and maybe this is exactly what USC needed was was, Hey,
we are a team that is balanced. They have no drama,
there's no real expectations. Like right now, this looks like
the best, most balanced team Lincoln Riley has had because
watching their defense fly around and their defensive line makes
(12:37):
all kinds of big plays, like they play loose, they
play make big plays, they play excited. It's a it's
a happy brand of football, Like I feel like football
is fun for USC now or maybe the last few years,
the couple of years with Caleb Williams and moving on,
it hadn't been fun and we're trying to figure things
out and it didn't work, and are we buying out
Lincoln Riley? But you know, a couple of years have
(12:59):
gone by, and this is again, this looks like the
best USC team that Lincoln Riley has had.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Not he had more top heavy talent.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
When he first came in, obviously bringing people in with
the portal and Williams coming with him from Oklahoma. But
this looks like it's the best team. And I really
I watch that defensive line play and they are just
wrecking havoc all the time on their opponents like I don't,
I don't. You know, look, we want to see it
a better teams, but they have been unstoppable so far,
and they are so much fun to watch. And really,
(13:28):
you know, if I to state and plant my flag
and say, hey, which one of these teams that you
know has been on rough times the last few years
that's been a traditional power is back.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
I'll give you USC on.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
This man, the USC big tomorrow to win and suddenly
beginning of next week it's oh wait, wait a minute, now,
let's not forget about USC here in the Big ten
race telling you watch.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Yeah, I think they lay that. You laid the seven
and it's an easy, easy run here. Alt Meyer's been
good with his touchdown interception ratio great, but that offensive
line is terrible u USC defense. They're up at the top,
up with the Big ten in sacks, so long day
for him to come. They haven't been able to run
the game and run the ball. They had some early success,
(14:07):
but I mean that was the tune up week one.
Otherwise it's been a bit of a difficult role there.
When you look at the USC offense, Mayava is at
seventy percent plus completion.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
You've got a good rushing attack.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Oh, by the way, Xavier White is out for the
line I secondary, So opportunity to our Exavier Scott, I'm sorry,
opportunity to go and pick apart the secondary a bit.
And coming off of that Indiana loss, I don't know
how quickly Brett Beilamo is able to get him regrouped.
And I know a lot was made of Lincoln Riley,
(14:43):
and oh, I'll look at him whining about the schedule.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
You knew what you got into.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
It's like, yeah, this is the Hey, you're giving us
the most dis advantageous stuff. So when we roll up
seventy points, make sure we get our love. That's all
he's doing here, right, He's basically doing what a lot
of tech companies did back in the day.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
I don't know, earnings might be looking.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
You know, the sandbagging, and then all of a sudden
you're in front of you know, your earnings call.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
It's like, hey, you.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Know what we were at a dollar thirty four share
profit EBITDA and then the stock surges in post trading.
So that's kind of what Lincoln Riley's working at here. Expectations, Hey,
maybe we get back to eight wins maybe Hey, this
is great, we're growing. No, no, no, now, like they lay
the wood to Illinois on the road last week, the
(15:31):
latest game on the schedule this week, the earliest game
on the schedule. It doesn't matter. They've got too much
talent for this Illinois squad.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Yeah, I'll tell you, man, I mean USC coming back.
Look all these teams this year, seeing them saying book
they're back. This is great for college football, right USC,
Miami Florida State, Like, yeah, it almost makes up for
arch Manning not being any good.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Oh we got a five stoylelan.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
I got here, I got ah did.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
You sneak that one in there?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
And you like what he used to tell a joke
to my grandfather? Well, I oh I got that. Okay, yeah, okay, okay, Well, I.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Mean I was gonna pick up your line and run
and then you give me the little extra. Hey, here's
a bat to arch Manning while I'm finishing this point.
But yeah, I mean, storylines emerging. USC being good again
is good for the game. So you know, we especially
here on the West coast, man now, especially LA with
a couple of high achieving NFL squads and the Dodgers
(16:34):
that and co on forever not to mention add the
chaos of the Lakers and there were raising their hand going, hey,
we're over here. Yeah, Ucla was a dumpster fire and
they got rid of their coach. But we're doing okay,

this content every single night. And before we get to
two more picks of Big NFL games on Sunday, a
(19:20):
little bit more on the stunning upset we just watched
in college football, Virginia in overtime beats Florida State forty
six thirty eight. It looks like Florida State throws what
could be the game tying touchdown, but the ball is
bobbled all the way through the end zone and out
of the end zone, so what could have been a
game tying score potentially is wiped off the board on
(19:43):
fourth down. Thomas Castellanos has pass, a deep pass to
left by Casta Donalds is intercepted and Virginia comes away
with the victory. Fans run on the field right away.
As we said, I'm pretty sure a fan ran by
Castallino stop gained the double burden kept running. But in
it in theory, this sounds like this is a bad
(20:04):
deal for the ACC. Right, here's one of your big
schools that goes down to defeat Florida State was number
eight in the country. Yeah, but you know what, you're
looking to try to stay relevant. We got in this
a little bit the beginning of the show, and look,
the ACC clearly went from hey, we're one of the
big three conferences in the country along with the big
(20:25):
ten in the in the s SEC. Right, we're one
of the three big ones. Yeah, we watched the PAC twelvefold.
But that's okay, we're right there, we're and now where's
the ACC. They're hoping to just continue to be a
conference in the next few years because the big ten
in the SEC have rolled past them and they're hoping, Okay,
now we're the number three conference. We're holding onto that.
But really does that matter? I know this lost kind
(20:48):
of things because it's you know there's three ACC teams
in the top twenty five. But you want again, you
want to stay relevant, You want a big seat at
the table as college football continues to evolve, and the
best you need to show is that your conference is good.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Right.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
We don't talk about, hey, the Big Yes, the Big
Tennis carried by Ohio State and Michigan and Penn State. Yes,
the SEC is carried by Alabama and ls I understand.
But when you talk about the conference, it's the depth.
It's years of teams like Tennessee Suddenly, hey, wait a minute,
now we become a top twenty five team, right Indiana,
Wait man, now we become a top twenty five team.
(21:23):
You need to have that kind of you need to be.
You need to be a conference that shows, hey, teams
in the middle of the pack, they can be top
twenty five teams too. They can go to the playoff.
We can send three teams to the playoff here, not
just one and maybe a second. So not the worst
thing that Virginia goes to four and one and shows that, Hey,
guess what, Virginia's pretty good. Syracuse is pretty good, right,
(21:45):
Duke is pretty good. You have the Miami at number two,
and clearly Miami is one of the top schools in
all of college football, and Carson Beck has been terrific
so far.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Louisville is undefeated.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
You have you have a lot of teams there that
middle of the pack can show you. Yeah, just because
Clemson stinks and that era is over and Clemson for Dabbo,
uh you know, he got tired of winning.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Uh, it's it's it's okay for us.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
We're gonna be just fine because we'll we'll continue to
roll up with teams like North Carolina State. Maybe you know,
maybe they'll they lost last week to Duke, but maybe
North Carolina is going to wind up being good at
some point with Belichick. So the actually the silver lining
here this is that Virginia wins and this just continues
to show the strength of the ACC because they want
(22:28):
to stay around. They don't want to watch the big
ten in the SEC say hey, we're gonna be our
own conference from now on, So goodbye, everybody, see you.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Good luck.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Hey, ACC, you'll be the favorites now you get at
least you'll be the favorites to win the second tier
national championship and whatever playoff. Crazy ass playoff. You guys
want to run, it's gonna be broadcast on the CBS
Sports Network and maybe on the CW on Saturdays.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Yeah, good luck there. So this is.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
They need to show that, hey, we are a strong
conference and it's a bit it's a big night for
them to show. Hey, the the teams outside of the
up of the upper restion on the elite can show
we can compete with the other teams in the Big
Ten and the Southeastern Conference.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Well, cannibalization is good, show depth of the conference, and
then you sell those big wins just a little bit more, right, Right,
you got a curiosity in Georgia Tech. They're four to
zero and their schedule until the season ending game against
Georgia is they don't have a ranked team against them,
(23:27):
so all of a sudden it's gonna be the how
good are they don't know? But they might be undefeated
when they go to play Georgia at the end of November.
So you've got that rolling through for you as well
to try to push narratives.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Right, that's all it's all about.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
You know, we've been talking a lot about the American
League MVP Award, and it's like, yes, if we take
all the big statistical categories and we just say who
has more wins? Yeah, Judge is gonna have more wins.
But it's it's an overall story that you're trying to tell.
And as we've found out in these processes with the
extended playoff field, that the narrative does matter. Right, there's
(24:08):
a there's a little more nuance that gets in when
we're trying to pick that at large field. So here
here's the potential for this this conference to make its case.
And let's face it, the poachers will be out in
full effect over the next couple of years. We've already
had documents, illegal documents put out in the past, something
(24:30):
we talked about as it was happening of potential secession plans.
So you never know, you never know how this is
gonna work, right, Hey, we want a larger piece of
the TV revenue.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Beat it. Yeah, yeah, that's nice.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Thanks for coming. Hey, we'll stay up your parking on
the way out. Don't worry about it. You'll be good.
You're not a conference without us, Like we got more
college football come up next to our pete few tax
stops by, we'll preview all the big games in college
football this weekend. But as we he said, but before
he was so rudely interrupted by the near touchdown by
Florida State. Big week in the NFL. Time to give
(25:06):
you our picks for the biggest games of the weekend.
We gave you Green Bay Dallas a few minutes ago.
How about the one in three Bowl, right, Baltimore and
Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
One of these teams is gonna go.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
To madness, I tell you, and I'll tell you this much.
And nothing's changed when we first talked about this earlier
in the week. Someone's gonna be one and three and
it's going to be the Chiefs, all right. Just look
at how these teams are playing. Baltimore has no defense
at all. Their defense is absolutely abysmal. But their offense,
they're scoring at will on everyone. Kansas City is struggling
(25:41):
sort of everywhere, right like Mahomes is.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
I mean, it's all the Homes this offense.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
If he can lead the team in rushing every week
and passing, that's what he's trying to That's the only
thing he can do.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Now.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
They do get Xavier Worthy back on Sunday, but they
are struggling everywhere. Hollywood Brown has been a jag Travis
Kelcey looks done. The biggest thing is watching him yell
at his teammates or yell at Andy Reid in the sideline.
Now it's like that's all he's got, and it's like,
come on, man, what.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Just just dude, just to stop.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
With that crazy ass optic to I'm yelling at everybody
because I'm mad we're not playing. Well, no, you're mad
because you're done. You're done, and everybody knows it, and
it's frustrating to you. Uh, Kansas City is hoping at
some point everything's just gonna click.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
It's just gonna.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Gel when for no reason other than our guys will
come back and we're gonna be great. Well, okay, they've
wanted to get Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy and Rashie
Rice on the field together at the same time now
for the better part of two years and it hasn't worked. Right,
You're still be another few weeks until you get Rashie
Rice back. It's just I said this was a year
(26:45):
where it was gonna be. I was stock up on Mahomes,
stock down on the Chiefs going into the season because
they just have gett it. They're getting passed by by
the younger, more athletic, more physical teams in the in
the AFC. And that's what you've seen so far, and
that's gonna continue you on Sunday. The Ravens offense is better.
You look at the four aspects of you know, the offensive,
defense of the Ravens, the offense defense of the Chiefs.
(27:07):
The offense of the Ravens is clearly operating on another
level from anything the Chiefs are doing. I think Mahomes
has a big day, but it's a bigger day for
Lamar Jackson in company and they win this like up
by the final of thirty eight twenty seven. I love
the over in this game. And look, any game the
Ravens are playing, you want to take the over. I
want to just be clear on that, but especially this one.
Give me the over and give me the Ravens by
(27:29):
a couple of touchdowns. And suddenly Monday morning and Monday
afternoon and Monday evening, it's are the Chiefs don or
the Chiefs over? Yeah, things are tough on the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
I'm going the other side.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
I'm gonna take the all thirty four one, getting two
and a half at home, the over unders sitting at
a nice robust forty eight or forty eight now hook,
depending on where you're looking at it. Derrick Henry had
that big game one, Grant Delvitt said he's just a
guy week two, and then he was just a guy
week three. Uh oh, you're also looking at it a
(28:00):
defense that can get after it. For Kansas City thus
far on the season, they rank among your best in
terms of points allowed per game, despite the heavy schedule
early and the fact that while the offense hasn't done
the many favors. You're looking at a team that currently
ranks in the top ten giving up eighteen point seven
(28:23):
points per game. So I'm looking at them to make
a play for Spagnoel to reach into his pockets and
come up with a little bit of magic to slow
down Lamar Jackson in company, and we're all wondering why
the best roster Jason looking for I may lose it
next week. On a whole other level, when he joins us,
he's already what's the word for klempt and scuffling to
(28:48):
not curse and risk our FCC licensing at times with
what he's seen from this squad. I think it gets
worse in Kansas City on the road this week forty points.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Week one against Buffalo forty one points against a pretty
good defense. Week two in Cleveland, thirty points against the Lions. Say, okay,
all right, okay. The one thing I can say, buddy,
you and I both like the over, So okay, we'll
deal with that. We both like the over in this game.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
We'll agree on that.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
We're not gonna score thirty seven a game for the
balance of a season. If they do and this record continues,
that it's one of the greatest stories in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Is why can't Lamar Jackson win eight to seven?
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (29:33):
The other big game of the week, Well, look, there's
lots of other beginns of the other big game we're
gonna talk about here for a couple minutes. Eagles and
the Bucks. Tampa is living dangerously, right, you've seen them.
But it's been three fourth quarter comebacks the first three
weeks to be undefeated. But Baker Mayfield simply is that guy. Right,
(29:53):
He's a top seven quarterback in the NFL, and the
final two minutes of the game, it's like watching Brady
That's the level he is playing at. That's level he's
been playing at for the better part of the last
two years, the last two minutes. As good as he
is in the first fifty eight, he's even better. The
fact that Tampa is living danger. You say, okay, well, no,
Philadelphia has been barely getting by, barely getting by. Their
(30:18):
first loss is coming, and it's gonna be here on Sunday,
a lower ish scoring game. But Baker Mayfield makes more
plays than Jalen Hurts. Why because Philadelphia is gonna finally
realize in this game. Hey, as much as we were hoping,
Saquon Barkley isn't gonna be the twenty four version of
(30:39):
himself this year. Again, we told you for so long
running backs coming off of four hundred touch seasons don't
have the same year the next year. It's science. It
just doesn't happen. Guys. You have that kind of responsibility,
that kind of wear and tear. It takes a little bit,
and they just don't have it. And it's gonna be
Tampa Bay Understanding, We're gonna make Jalen Hurts us and
(31:00):
their defense is good enough. They'll adjust a little bit
defensively as well, but not in the heat in Tampa.
And I'll go bold on this Bucky Irving two touchdowns,
one hundred and twenty five total yards.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
I still like the.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Under, but Irving has a big day two touchdowns, one
hundred twenty five yards.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Tampa gives the Eagles their first loss. How about that?
Look at you.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
I'm looking for a little bit of balance more a
J Brown coming off a big game last week. Curiosity
for Tampa for me is with Mike Evans now out
they were zero and three when he missed games last year.
But you do potentially get a role for Chris Godwin.
Now that's going to be a game time decision, trying
to help bolster that receiving corps next to Abuka, who
(31:41):
will draw Mitchell? Now it's a matter of who's number
two that's going to be able to pick on what
has been the big week point for this Philadelphia defense
thus far as second cornerback.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
Position and the the well, the whole side of the field.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
That's been a bit of an issue because Mitchell takes
care of himself. But can Baker Mayfield and Bucky Irving
make those plays?
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Particularly? I think Irving I like spotlighting.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Him because of what he's able to do in the
passing game, and I think that's where perhaps they create
a little bit of chaos. So're not gonna have a
lot of success running the ball against the Philly front,
but enough to keep them on their toes and mix
and match a little bit to create some success. As
we look at the point spread and everything for this one,
(32:32):
it is a three and a half point road favorite
for Philly with our total creeping up a little bit.
I think it was forty four and a half, and
we've seen a little bit of movement north in that regard,
so we keep an eye there. I'm gonna take the
Eagles to win the game on the road. Barkley doesn't
(32:52):
have to be superhuman. Hurtz makes enough plays with his
legs and with his arm to give the Bucks their loss.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Just doing this because you don't want me to say
you don't want me to pick the Birds and and
and do my accent, because I'm still watching task and
all the stuff that Mark Ruffalo is saying about the
Philadelphia Phillies. You still want me to say that to
why you're just antiing me because of the If I
picked Philadelphia and not on my accent, you would have said, yeah,
I all go with Tampa Bay. You just don't want
to hear it.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Yeah, you had to give me a ruffalo, didn't you?
Dare you? I thought he hated sports about a year ago.
Did he anyway? Now to have a little bit of
a Philadelphia accent?
Speaker 5 (33:29):
Not?
Speaker 1 (33:30):
You know what I mean to all the other characters now,
they all have it on task, They all have that
accent on tad.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
They did you you couldn't get it right. And he'd
already signed on quote the coach quit. Uh, he wasn't
willing to do the work. How about that?
Speaker 1 (33:45):
I I I take I have I have a really
I can't tell you the name because because I don't know,
I don't know if there'd be a lawsuit.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
But a friend of.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Mine used to work for this big time production company
in Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
This is I'm going back like twenty somebody. And uh,
they did a.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Movie with a really high profile actress and she had
to do an accent for it. And I was like,
how's it going? And and she told I said, how's
a movie going?
Speaker 5 (34:13):
You know?
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Just talked?
Speaker 1 (34:13):
She goes, uh blank, the accent is not working. And
I said, what do you mean? I said, but how
do you not? What do you mean it's not working?
It's not working and it's going to really hurt the movie, like,
oh my goodness, what what?
Speaker 3 (34:27):
What? What happened?
Speaker 1 (34:28):
And and and my friend told me, well, when Blank
tells you they can do an accent, what are you
gonna say?
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Okay, I get it? What can you say?
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Right though?
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Okay, you can't do the accent.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
Can't do the accent?
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Exit out about a Fresca.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Exit swollen down The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Carmen. So there are some of our big picks.
We got more big picks coming up, and straight ahead,
we have a visit from Jason Cole NFL Insider or
extraordinariyor does he think potentially the Cowboys can win on
Sunday against the Pagan Probably not, but it's gonna be
(35:11):
really entertaining. What about Aaron Rodgers? How upset he is
already about being in Ireland?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
All that more?
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Big Week four Football Friday continues Jason and Mike, Fox
Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with

hot line to break it all down. His second visit
with us this week because he can't get enough of us.
(36:00):
Check them out in the thirty third team Pro Football
Hall of Fame voter, longtime friend of the show. Who's
going to find a way to predict the Cowboys to
beat the Packers?
Speaker 3 (36:09):
It is Jason Cole. What's happening?
Speaker 5 (36:11):
Man? Actually have a clause in my contract that I
get a side of potato salad if I do two
appearances in a week.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
All right, I got you to Okay, you signed a four year,
four sandwich contract, but you do have a two time
in a week for a side of potato salad.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
Okay, that's right, yes, exactly, but arts Deli potato salad? Yeah, special.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
No, no, I understand, I understand where you're at.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
Yes, yeah, Harmon went to arts recently.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Art is a wonderful place.
Speaker 5 (36:43):
It is amazing, truly truly amazing.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
It is Americana at its finest.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Yeah, that's a that's in New York Deli right there,
in the hardest city of city. Baby, you got them.
That's that is truly America.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Wait, I said, wait a minute, no, no, no, no, Dallas Cowboys,
that's America.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Ja Cole, Come on, that is not.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
It's really just kind of like regionalized. Now it's it's Dallas.
We're only the people who are who are fools enough
to believe in Jerry Jones are still fans.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
What a fool believes?
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Is there anyway the Cowboys can win this game on
Sunday against the Packers?
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Is there anyway?
Speaker 5 (37:29):
The question? The question is is Mica Parson is going
to have more sacks than the Cowboys s points?
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (37:42):
You said he's going to look like Jefferson in Fast Times?
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (37:50):
What was that run?
Speaker 5 (37:52):
Wasn't that? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:54):
That was fors Whittaker. Two tickets for Jefferson?
Speaker 5 (37:58):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (37:58):
What was what was what was that? I I keep
thinking like.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
This he's.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
He's gotta be.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
Repair many like let's go.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
I wonder if Sunday is going to kick off the
Remember when Gruden traded Khalil Mack and every week he
had a strip, sack, fumble recovery for a touchdown and
Gruden to keep saying, another one by this guy, another
one by this guy.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Like I'm waiting for this to happen. For Micah Parsons
and Jerry Jones, I just I just want.
Speaker 5 (38:29):
Him to have like that Derek Thomas kind of game,
where like he has like every other plays a sack
and it's like, I can't remember where was that Derek
Thomas had like eight sacks on games, some ridiculous number
or something like that, just like every oh, let me
get It's like it's basically like Dax blown will be
(38:55):
out of Micah or something like that. You know, like,
just he's gonna be where are and wearing Mike Parson's
jersey by the end of this game. That's how bad
this is going to be. Isn't going to be terrible
for the for the Cowboys, and Jerry just can't escape
it because you know, like they went Novin can't play
past defense. There's such a sucker Jerry for this, Like,
(39:22):
just pay your star players.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
But either eber Blues grew the beard back. That's what
made him such a champion on hard knocks.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
Wow. I don't know how to respond to that.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
No, he's got to keep playing zone. I want to
throw a ball over the time.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
I did not have Eberflus's beard as a subject for tonight.
I really didn't.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
That was a throwaway line to try to that's about
always good for Yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:51):
I know that's that's true, but I just didn't have it.
I just wasn't ready for Eberl's beards. Hey, I think
we're playing like celebrity jet pretty or something like that. Okay,
go ahead, listen.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
It just took a while for eber Flus to show
everybody how good Caleb Williams is.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I mean, get off the guy's back.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
That was such a great headline. That was such a
great deadline when somebody wrote the former Bears coach finally,
I relish's Caleb.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
I told you we drafted the right guy.
Speaker 5 (40:22):
Look at one of the truly truly great headlines I
have ever seen. I was like, wow, that is so sublime.
It is so great green Bay Dolls, Green Bay, Dallas
especially like Green Bay not only are they not only
(40:45):
the answer because it's Dallas and it's because but they
just screwed up that game here against Cleveland, so like
they're gonna be really really angry for this game. That's
what That's how I look at this one.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
Still can't take away that Browns win good times. All right,
So the Ravens score a lot of points, but their
defense stink. But the question is can Kansas City score
enough with them?
Speaker 5 (41:08):
This is a real challenge to see if Kansas City
has any life in that offense, because if we can't
score against this team right now, and maybe Zach Orrer
will get it by this time, but if you can't
score on Baltimore right now, you got some serious problems
with your offense and how functional or non functional you are.
(41:28):
And Kansas again, I think Kansas City is still going
to end up with ten, eleven, maybe twelve wins at
the end of this whole thing, because my homes is
just too good and Reaves too. They'll figure it out,
but this is such a critical game for them to
get moving and it's a critical game for Baltimore to
figure out. Oh yeah, we actually do now to play defense.
(41:51):
I promise that we do. Like we've been doing this
for like twenty years and we can and we are
good at still, but they certainly have looked like that.
I just I don't get what. I don't get what
Baltimore's trying to do. I mean, I just this is
such a nonchalant, a tackless, tactical defense. It's nothing like
(42:15):
anything I've seen from them for twenty five years. So
I just, again we talked about the other night, I
don't get what zach Orr is trying to accomplish with
the defense.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Look when you joined us by to night, we talked
about this afterwards, like if this season goes bad for Baltimore, right,
if this goes bad, and this was all we've heard
was this is the most talented Ravens roster we've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
All of it.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
The one common bond through all of this is John Harball.
I know, the guy's not coaching for his job this year,
because you're not going to come out of this year
underachieving saying hey guys, we'll get back at it next
year with the with the really the best roster that
we have. There's going to need some sort of come
up and see, someone's gonna have to take take responsibility
(43:02):
for it, and it's gonna be John Harball.
Speaker 5 (43:07):
I'm not buying man.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Adam gasee New Raven's head coach. Get ready wow tacos.
Speaker 5 (43:16):
Wow. Uh. I didn't have Adam Gaze in this conversation either.
So we've gone from Eva Flus's beard to Gase's tacos
h Jaco.
Speaker 4 (43:27):
We're celebrating baseball teams making the wildcard, so it's wildcard
reference Friday.
Speaker 5 (43:32):
It's wow, Like this is deeper than Gene Mock from
last for Monday. Uh.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
Look, I think John Harball will have to have a
serious conversation with Steve Dashati about how they taken advantage
of you know, what they've got. But if you're Steve
Mashati and you're looking at they've built Lamar Jackson into
a contending quarterback right like they they put a lot
(44:02):
of effort into how they're going to build this. They've
built them really what I think is a really terrific offense.
They've got a studded lineup, but you know, like they're
they're really good, especially on offense, and they've got players
on defense. You can see it. They're just not playing
to it. I just think that this is one where
he's going to have to sacrifice the defensive coortin there.
(44:23):
You know, we talked about this on Monday. I think
unless they get it turned around really quick and in
the next week or two, like I think Zach Gore
gets replaced, and they just come in with you know,
maybe they go back to Wink. I mean, I don't
you know, I don't know, but you know, they've got
to come up with a better idea, you know. I
know Harbaugh borrows from that idea that Amy Reid has,
(44:46):
which is you have to sort of refresh your coaching
staff every three or four years that you don't get stale.
And that's one of the reasons he got rid of
you know, Martindale at a certain point. But like this
has not worked out, Like this is what they're doing
right now is so far removed from anything they've ever been.
(45:09):
I just he's into good for too long to just
scrap him. Now. If you were up in Pittsburgh and
Tomlin doesn't take advantage of this, Tomlin is more likely
to be in trouble than Harbaugh to me. But but yeah,
I mean, I just say Tomlin's more likely to be in
(45:30):
trouble on Harbaugh would I would be. I would be
surprised if the shotting made that kind of move because
he likes consistency. He liked the way that Pittsburgh does
business by keeping consistency with his coaching staff.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
That is at Jason Cole sixty two, longtime friend of
the shop.
Speaker 5 (45:52):
We never we never want anything with Micca. No.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Look, I wanted to pay him.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
I wanted to give more guaranteed money that he got
from Green Bay.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
But how many years was it that That doesn't matter.
The years offered.
Speaker 5 (46:06):
Him the rest of his life. Yeah, yeah, through age
to eight.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
A balloon payment on his hundredth birthday.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Uh, contingent on the fact that that he could still
cash a check.
Speaker 5 (46:23):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
But it's a lot of money. It was a lot,
