Friday we have more. Will preview the two biggest games
of the week in the NFL coming up in about

(01:11):
twenty minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
But I mean we already talked about the Jets.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I'll tell you that Jets Cowboys game. Man, I've touched
so many points in that game, so many points, so
many points. It's you know, look that that's the power
of the league. And that's where Hey, a team that's one,
two and one of the team that O wined for. Hey,
we got to make sure we keep an eye on
out one.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
That's that's the Cowboy and the Vikings have stayed in Europe,
Dublin last week. They're playing in London this Sunday morning
against the Browns. We say, maybe the best. By the
way the Browns are playing overseas, they.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
May never be allowed to come back. I don't know
that they're like maybe this is the excuse.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Just trick them, send them out and then they'll never
get back.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
And I'm also wondering if this game was in the
United States, would the Browns have gone to Dylan Gabriel, Like,
would they have gone to Gabriel? You know, if it
was still in the United maybe.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Because it's a road game technically yeah yeah yeah, but
there's a road game, then there's a road Oh yeah,
this is like out of the code game.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, I really wonder if that would have happened, Like, hey,
you know what, we're away, We're not gonna you know,
Dylan's gonna be able to get in and focus as
much as he can on football, because while yes, him
starting is a big deal, nobody knows who the hell
he is, Nobody knows about the draw, nobody cares about
then at the pro level, no Browns quarterback nat This
is the week to get him going. Like I wonder

(02:23):
if Flacco would have had another week or so if
they were still playing in the United States. I really
wonder if they would.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
But this does give you options. You know, he can
roll out, he can run, He's much younger than Flacco,
and the offense has been scoring fourteen points a game
in Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, I don't score another fourteen this week. I mean,
you have great confidence, but that's Dylan gabs. I think
Dylan Gabers will work. Not that I think the Vikings
are gonna suddenly start lighting it up, but uh yeah,
I more confidence that the Vikings and their playmakers will
have enough to get it done here.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
And Vikings are gonna be without two or three linemen.
It's kind of like Dallas. This weekend.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah, but I have I kind of have a sneaking suspicion.
I like the in Fantasy. I like playing the Vikings
defense overseas. I I kind of like that. I kind
of like, Yeah, I kind of like that. Yeah, I
mean they might. They might finish with the most points
of any of anybody in Fantasy this week. The Vikings
defense stick they had forty last a couple of weeks ago.

(03:18):
They might do it again. But again, we'll take a
look at the two biggest games on the NFL schedule
coming up in about twenty minutes, but we are less
than twenty four hours away from the beginning of the
Major League Baseball PLAYOSS. We'll get to the big controversy
involved in the Yankees in a second, but I promise
is Luio. The other night when we talked about the
Dodgers knocking off the Reds, a couple are really really

(03:39):
big concerns. Right. Their bullpen is absolutely terrible, and their
defense is not.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Good, right the test special defense.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yet it's it's it's not strong. And and you got
by in that round because it was the Reds and
the Reds are bad and you hit the baseball. But
this is not a team that is going to win
games by flash and leather. It's not. They are weak
and a lot of positions and so yeah, as good
as they are, this is a team where I can say, hey,
the bullpen's gonna have a lot to say. The defense
is not good, and you know, a bad play defensively

(04:10):
is what sends you home when you get to this
level of the playoffs. But the flip side of it
is this, right, all of this all so, Jason, you're
dooming gloom. The Dodgers aren't gonna win. You think the Dodger.
The one thing I will say, and this is this
is the great equalizer. Nobody hits the baseball like the Dodgers.
And you look at every other team that has played
in the playoffs, that played in the first round, they

(04:32):
all had trouble putting runs across the board. Everybody did.
Some had more than others. If a team scored four
runs in a game and they were lighting up the scoreboard, it's,
oh my god, it's four runs. We're gonna win this game.
It's like it's twelve nothing. The Dodgers come out in
two games and they very feeling almost feeling like it
was like it was a regular season end of the
year game, and they put up ten eight but without

(04:55):
even trying, like they just and they hit home runs,
and they hit off of good pitchers. On Green shows
up and it's what happened. I was so good for
the entire season. I show up here and I'm out
of the game. My season's over in the second inning.
The Dodgers. Nobody hits the baseball like they do. Not
the Phillies, not the Yankees. You know, the teams that
we didn't play so far, We're gonna see them again.
We're gonna see the marriage Toronto.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I would add that they were the only team batting
average over two sixties. So George Springer's been white hot,
and they have Guerrero Junior, so they have something in
the Toronto lineup. And certainly the Yankees have power.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, oh oh, the Yankees. Look, you're looking for home runs,
the Yankees can get them for you. The Blue Jays
have it to a level, but nobody hits the baseball
with the confidence level with the ability of the Dodgers.
And look, Will Smith could be on his way as well.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
He's available to catch time, and he didn't play, not
just the past week he hasn't played in four weeks.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Yeah, this is this guy who was the best hitting
catcher in baseball, you know, up until he got hurt,
and he's been an All Star for the last few
years like that. That's the one thing. If the Dodgers
win the World Series this year. Last year it was
they were the best all around team. They added sho
heey O Tani, their starting pitching was good enough, their
bullpen was terrific, they hit the baseball, they they got

(06:07):
stuff from unhralded players like Tommy Edmund. But this year,
if they're gonna win, they are gonna mash their way
to the World Series. There's no other way there. They're
not gonna suddenly show up and wow, look at this.
Look at this Dodger rotation keeping everybody off the scoreboard. Yeah, no,
not happening. It's gonna be games with the Phillies. They're
gonna have to win nine to eight and eleven, nine
and eight seven, Like this is how they're gonna win.

(06:29):
They are gonna win mashing their way to the World
Series because it's the only way they can. Because you're
not fixing the bullpen. You figure out the ninth inning
in theory with Broki Sasaki. Okay, that's great, but you
are you are not getting there any other way than
scoring a ton of runs every game. And the good
news for them is they're hitting the baseball with no problem.
That's the only team hitting the baseball with no problem

(06:50):
so far.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I wouldn't recommend a one run lead to the late
innings for the Dodgers, you know, I mean.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Like they get up nine or nine to nothing or
eleven nothing and hold on to win eleven nine or
nine eight. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Well, it was the Phillies that had that legendary comeback
at Dodger Stadium years ago, where what it was at
twelve to one or something like that, that think of
fifteen to two, and they came back and wound up winning.
There is on the mound the Slugger Show. Hey Otani
pitching in Game one at Philly tomorrow. Let's just say
this in advance. I mentioned this during the regular season

(07:21):
when Otani has been on the mound as a pitcher,
and you know, they have that pitch com instead of
actually the catcher putting down different fingers for the signs.
Otani has always had to and this is in a
normal game in July or August had to cover up
his ear with his glove to be able to hear
the pitch com properly. And that includes at home games.
What's going to happen at Philadelphia tomorrow, That's going to

(07:44):
be something I'm looking at in inning one of Game
one of this best of five. By the way, the
great Sarah Langs baseball researcher points out that we've got
Otani with fifty five homers this year, Kyle Schwarber the
Phils fifty six homers. So it's the first time multiple
players with at least fifty five in a season have
made the postseason the same year. And we haven't mentioned

(08:05):
Cal Rawley's going to be playing for Seattle tomorrow, but
we assume Shoe Otani's gonna both pitch and lead off
in the batting order. He would be the first starting
pitcher ever to lead off in a postseason game, because
no starter has hit anywhere in the order except eight
or nine in a playoff game except for Babe Ruth,
once batted sixth and pitched for Boston in nineteen eighteen.

(08:29):
So we're gonna get a little history tomorrow. But again,
it is two games in Philly the better team in
the regular season, and if there's Game five, it's back
at Philly the next Saturday.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Now there's Dodgers Phillies. How about Yankees Blue Jays? The
controversy you didn't know you wanted, but we're getting it
was in August when the Yankees were playing a series,
or I'm sorry, it was in early September when right
after the Yanks, right after the Yankees visited. And look,

(09:02):
the Blue Jays won the division series against the Yankees.
The Blue Jays were eight and five against them overall,
they were six and one in Toronto. They had just
beaten them. And so the Blue Jays and the Astros
are play in a series. And in early September, former
MLBT major leaguer and manager Buck Martinez, who was the
Blue Jays TV analyst, had some very pointed things to

(09:26):
say about the Yankees, saying, quote the Yankees, they're not
a good team. I don't care what their record is. Okay,
clip and save that and see if these teams play
again the rest of the season. Well, fast forward now
a few weeks and here the Yankees getting ready to
take on the Blue Jays and Aaron Boone Yankee manager
had some thoughts on Buck Martinez's words, and here he

(09:47):
was talking about it earlier today.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
I feel like, you know, obviously the last couple of
months really started to play really well, and you know,
contrary to some thoughts up here, we're really good team.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Is that's all?

Speaker 5 (10:02):
That's been a theme I guess, you know around the.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Team of feeling that way. What's that?

Speaker 5 (10:08):
That's only that you kind of stressed the team. But
both you say, contrary to the thoughts up here. Oh,
I know, I know Buck had some thoughts. That's all
ours responded to.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
So he's wrong, but it doesn't matter. We got to
go play and we got to go perform as as
everyone does at this time of years.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
No, he had some thoughts, Jason, and he went on
to say that night, Buck Martinez, the Yankees have a
lot of wild pitches, They make a lot of mistakes
in the field. They don't run the bases very well.
If they don't hit home runs, they don't have a
chance to win. End quote. And this followed the month before.
Remember the Yankee announcer Michael k talking about on his show,
I know the Blue Jays are in for there are

(10:52):
in a first place team they are not, you know,
And so this has gone back and forth in the summer.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah, look, and you could tell Aaron Booz oh it
doesn't matter, No, clearly it does. I know Buck had
some thoughts in all of this. And first of all,
let me say this, I get it because Aaron Boone
has had to listen for the narrative the last twelve
and a half months of the Yankees are a bad team. Fundamentally,
they're bad. They run the bases like little leaguers. All

(11:17):
the errors in the World Series, all the mistakes they made.
And this is on the coaches, right when a team
plays like that, that's on the coach. Hey, why do
they play this way? Many? How do they play that?
And Aaron Boone has had to listen to that, and
it's been shots at him for the better part of
the last year. And this is why, like every like,
I feel like he gets so close to getting fired.

(11:40):
And yet somehow they pull it out of the fire
and they win a couple of games in a row,
and here they are again, and Aaron Boone is able
to survive. But you could tell it has really bothered
him that this is the narrative around the Yankees that
fundamentally they're bad, They're embarrassing. They play they they play
the game in a way that I can't believe they
succeed the way they do. You've got players around the

(12:02):
league say it.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Now.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
You have Buck Martinez say I'm telling not afraid to
say it on television about the Yankees. And I get
that Aaron Boone is really mad going into this because
this has been a narrative that he's had to deal
with now for over a year, ever since the World Series.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
And we brought it up on this show. The irony
is the Dodgers said after the fact, after they clinched
against all those Yankee mistakes in Game five of the
World Series last year. We knew we could count on
that from the Yankees. We knew from our scouting that
that was going to come up, and it sure did.
The irony is the Dodger outfield has become that team
this year, which you referenced earlier. There's no confidence at

(12:39):
all in the Dodgers defensively. And I think you need
look no further than the guy who usually man center field,
who is from Cuba, like Yasi Opuig, We're from Cuba,
Andy Pat has too often plays like Yasio Puig. He
can be spectacular, he can have power, and sometimes there's
just head scratching moments like wow, is this a same

(13:00):
seventeen year old out in the outfit? How did this
happen in a major League game? So hopefully one of
those won't happen. The negative for Toronto going into this
Yankee series that starts tomorrow is their pitching hasn't been
superb and they allowed over two hundred home runs this year.
The Yankees head by far the most home runs hit
of any team in the Majors this year. Number one

(13:20):
in homers, number one in RBIs, number one in walks.
Yankees were number one in run scored also.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
So now you're looking at this series, right and look,
I already said last night, Look the Yankees look like
a team of destiny. Right. You had the new Jeter
play when McMahon goes into the stands to get it yea,
and Schlittler shows up like he's the new Andy Pettitt,
who had all the plaudits for him a rookie hasn't
done that in the game. In the playoffs, They're going
back to big, big performances. You're seeing names like Hoyit,

(13:48):
Will Helman, Mike Bottaker and all this stuff. I gotta
tell you this is how this series goes. The Yankees
take the first two games in Toronto. You talk about
the Dodgers mashing, they are going to mash. They're gonna hit.
They're motivated, they are hot at the right time, right
eliminating the Red Sox, seizing momentum after the seventh inning

(14:09):
of Game two, where ridiculously the Red Sox decided to
go conservative and play for one run. And ever since
that moment, when the Yankees got out of that bases
loaded jam, the Red Sox didn't score and the Yankees
were able to score enough runs to win. They're gonna hit.
They're gonna score seven to eight runs the first two games.
They're gonna go back to the stadium. It's gonna be
two nothing Yankees, and the Yankees are gonna win this series,

(14:31):
and they are gonna blow torch their way through Toronto.
I get how good Toronto is. I get they've been
playing well, but as you said, their pitching is not good.
They give up a lot of home runs. The Yankees
hit home runs. You're seeing Volpi get hot in the
first round of the playoffs. Chishom When he gets in
the lineup, he's affecting the game. Now. Maybe sitting him
out the first game was the best thing because now
he's really motivated the last couple of games. But this

(14:53):
is a team. Now Ben Rice has jumped in. He
was sitting out the first game, and he's played well.
They are going to absolutely destroy the baseball and it
could be a sweep. But I'll say, I'll I'll be guys,
I'll say Yankees in five and they wind up winning
the series and they go on to the ALCS.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Game five would be at Toronto. Since Toronto finished as
division champion winning that tiebreaker against the Yanks, they had
finished tied in the AL standings. Keep in mind the schedule.
These are day games this weekend in Toronto, four pm
Eastern Saturday, Fox TV Yankees at Toronto Game one, then
four pm Eastern Sunday on FS one Yankees at Toronto

(15:31):
for Game two, and then FS one will have Tuesday
nights Game three of the best of five from New York.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
You like offense, It's gonna be a Yankees explosion starting
tomorrow in Toronto. And maybe some errors too, but enough
hits and they're gonna wind up winning. Exit out About

So here we are on a football Friday, getting ready
for the big week of games in the NFL. We
got Pete Futech coming up about an hour from now
to break down all the big games in college football,
and Steve, I gotta tell you if we look ahead
to the two biggest games of the week in the NFL,
on Sunday. Let's start with the Broncos and the Eagles,

(17:59):
because I feel like every week that goes by, I'm
gonna keep picking against Philadelphia because they're just not the
same team. They're they're they're they're just they're just surviving
week to week. Last week they played really well, but
you know, they're not held on the same team. Uh,
And I feel like I'm gonna keep picking against them
till they get their loss. Like I can't pick them

(18:20):
to what, I'm gonna keep picking against them until they lose.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Now, they did have a big lead at Tampa Bay
in the heat last weekend and then held on for
the w. But they are four and oh with seemingly
Aja Brown not on the team at this point.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Oh, oh my goodness, how.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Do you how do you balance that they they're four
and oh and they can be better. I think that's
a fair statement.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, I mean, look, and the AJ Brown thing, Let's
deal with this drama part of it first. Here's another
week where he has a bit of a cryptic message
towards the team. And I gotta be honest with you,
if you said to me, is AJ Brown gonna be
on the Eagles past the trade deadline, and I will
tell you no, because eventually they're gonna get tired of this.

(19:04):
And if they can incorporate him into the offense for
whatever reason, why are you keeping him around where things
are just gonna get bad as the season goes on?
Move on, They'll make a move for a wide receiver
that maybe they can they can bring in that that
would be a bigger part of the team. But they'll
save money on it, I'm sure. And look, and AJ
Brown is still a really talented wide receiver. Many teams
will see him as this. He's a change of scenery guy,

(19:27):
like you get him in someplace else. Yeah, Look, the
guy was reading on the sideline last year was a
big thing. Is about positive thinking and being in that
frame of mind. If he's not in that frame of mind,
it's hard for him to be able to produce. And
are the Eagles really gonna say we're gonna we're gonna,
you know, drag, We're gonna drag through this whole situation
with you again over this year. They're not gonna do it.

(19:50):
They're gonna say, you know what, We're not gonna wait
and go through November and December and maybe you're part
of the team, and maybe you're not and we should
have made a move. They're gonna understand that. Okay, maybe
time with the team has come to an end. They're
not gonna get a lot for him, obviously, because look,
you're paying you're paying them a lot of money. But
another team, there'd be a lot of teams at wide
receiver needy that will make that move of the deadline

(20:10):
and you feel like he could drop right in and play. Well,
I can see that happening one hundred percent, and they'll
go get a wide receiver that maybe is not happy someplace,
or a team has fallen out of contention. We're gonna
move on from this guy. Maybe it's the the Raiders
who are saying, we're not gonna pay Jacoby Myers anymore,
and so hey, we can replace him with Jacoby Myers coming.
Whatever is going to be. They will do something right,

(20:31):
they would. Garrett Wilson signed a big contract with the Jets,
not saying what could be. Okay, all right, it could be.
But if your first thing, if you told me if
he's gonna be on the team past the deadline, I
would put my money on no. They will be moving
on from him, and it's gonna be and it's gonna
be a new time in Philadelphia, new weapons there at receiver,

(20:51):
something else for Jalen Hurt to try to get down
the field with.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
The Eagles are four and zero and they're next to
last in passing in the NFL. AJ Brown may have
only had two catches for seven yards last game, they
did target him nine times. Usually when receivers are crying
for the ball, they don't have that amount of targets
coming their way. So we need to say this out loud.
He was targeted nine times last week. That's a fair

(21:15):
amount for any receiver, even a supposed one A on
this team. The thing is they're going up against a
genuinely great, not good great defense that the Denver Broncos had.
I still think it's quite underrated in the NFL. Denver's defense,
And granted it's against Vic Fangio, so you want to
talk about great defensive coordinators, that's the matchup. The Broncos

(21:37):
are in Philadelphia. But a guy like Jonathan Cooper who
not only wants to tackle you, but wants to tackle
through you and have you buried in the dirt, and
he's got such a great reaction to the snap to
start and get pressure and get off the line quickly.
And Nick Benito and the amount of pressures like against
the Chargers when Denver was there in recent weeks, it's

(21:57):
just astounding. Denver is number one in the NFL in
sacks so far this season and number two in pressures.
It's a really great defense that Philly's facing.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Look, and this is why I'm gonna do it again.
Here Denver runs the ball a ton, They eat the clock.
Their defense causes a lot of problems for Jalen Hurts
and mainly becauseing what the Eagles are realizing and slowly
every week there's and there's nothing that is changing this.
And I said this from the beginning. You think Saquon

(22:28):
Barkley is gonna have another big year, He's not, right,
not that he's suddenly done, but the guy's coming off
of four hundred touches, okay, four hundred touches over the
course of the last season with the playoffs. Nobody comes
off of that and has another big season, right, you
see him, he is barely He's having his Every week
is sixteen carries for forty five yards in a touchdown

(22:50):
Like that's every week for Saquon Barkley. It's just not
that way for him, and the Eagles are slowly going
to realize we can't count on him. We need to
do something more in the passing and that's why they're
going to say, hey, it's not working with aj Brown,
will figure something else out. But they're not going to
get it out of Saquon Barkley and they're not going
to fix that this week against the Broncos. I love

(23:11):
the under in this game, and I'll give you this
bold prediction because he seems to be talking about it
a lot and how much he likes it. Sean Payton
made a lot of references this week about the tush
push and how he voted for it, and he thinks
it's a great play. And the Eagles the Broncos stop
the tush push this week and it's a big deal.
We're going to talk about it a lot. They win

(23:32):
this game over Philadelphia and give them their first l
of the season.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Now I think you're talking about the Rams the fourth
and one. You can't actually get a yet. Now, what
I think Denver needs to win this game is not
only the good defense, which I do expect, the great
defense to show up. But they need kind of what
Tampa Bay needed to get back in the game last weekend.
That is, one quick strike, one long touchdown pass, very

(23:57):
short drive. Much to the confraternation of the defensive coordinator
Vic Fangio, that'll kind of be an equalizer to keep
Denver in it on the road. I would, I gotta
say it again. They are playing a four to oh
Eagles team and an Eagles team that can be better.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
But this, this Denver team, this is a really really
good team, right and and they're gonna as the season
gets on, they get to the midway point of the
season and on, they're gonna be winning games in a
very machine like way. Now a lot of it is
bon Knicks year two. Teams are now understanding, Okay, here's
what we got to do to stop this guy. So
now Bo Nicks needs to do the readjustment that you

(24:34):
see all quarterbacks. Quarterbacks that start out really well, it
takes a little while, the league adjusts, the quarterback comes
down to earth a little bit. Then the quarterback readjusts,
and then that's kind of where his playing level is at.
So Bo Knicks needs some time to readjust to what
teams are doing to them because it's clearly not the
same offense that it was a year ago. But you
have a lot of new parts. You're trying to figure

(24:54):
out Evan Ingram with the team when he's in the lineup,
you know, with the joker position, and and hey, what's
the wide receiver room looking like? Is Franklin going to
be your number two? Is you know what kind of
role is Pat Bryant going to have? You're still figuring
things out in Denver, right, So that's still playing itself out.
But by the middle of the season, Sean Payton's too
good a head coach. They're going to have this thing

(25:14):
figured out and they're going to be all of a
sudden say, wow, this is one of the one of
the top five teams in all of football. Doesn't matter
what their record is, this is how good they are.
They're going to announce it. This People are going to say, Okay,
I'm back in on the Broncos after this week.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
I think we're properly ahead on this one. And remember
this when a month from now, the Denver Broncos are
seven and three, because they could be undefeated very realistically
right now, because they had literally a last play field
goal beat them at the Chargers, and that crazy last
play field goal at the Colts that they lost where
it would have been a miss from long distance on

(25:51):
the field goal attempt to play before we got the
leverage penalty and the Colts got the rekick from closer.
Denver could easily be four and oh. Now after they
play at Philadelphia this weekend, you know who the next
few games are. The Broncos will be playing in a row, Jets, Giants, Cowboys, Texans, Raiders.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
All those teams have combined for negative three wins.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
And seemingly negative three yards some games.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
You know, I never get to a point where I go,
you know that team can run the table because it
always sounds so much easier to say than it is
to do. Oh if they run the table, it's always
the most useless thing. No, you hear those games ago. Oh,
absolutely they can run the table. Yeah, they can run
the table. With all of those games, it lightens up formative.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Denver is not only good this year. Their final two
games of the season are at Kansas City on Christmas
and then hosting the Chargers to end the season. This
is gonna be great.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
So there's your first big game with leak the second
game of the week. Again a little bit of a
surprise because well, but this is where we are, the
Bucks and the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Me.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
I mean, it didn't think you'd see that. Didn't think
the Seahawks would be this good. Looks like they are
both three and one. Yeah, yeah, it didn't think the
Bucks woul be this good. The Bucks should probably be
four and oh, but they are as good things as
I've said about Seattle, and they have really surprised me
how well they have taken to the Sam Donald there
are now, you know, revamping their team with their quarterback

(27:14):
look Jackson Smith and the jigba is absolutely phenomenal. And
they still run the football well. This is a team
that does everything well right. That's that. The Seahawks are
that solid football team that churns out windsy. You can't
really say they have a weakness. You can't really say
they're great in a lot of places. But it doesn't matter.
If you're good, that's gonna win you ten to eleven
games in the NFL every year. But this week I'm

(27:37):
taking the Bucks over Seattle because in a close game,
I believe in Baker Mayfield at the end over Sam Darnald, Right,
I mean Tampa Bay has banged up a little bit. Yes,
a lot of injuries coming in, but Seattle is really
more solid than spectacular. Mayfield is the two minute guy,
like I talked about him a couple of weeks ago,
where he has that Tom Brady kind of are about him.

(28:00):
Now that the end of games, He's going to make
the plays needed. Whether it's but it includes them, yeah, yeah,
Well he runs for a first down, throws her first down.
That confidence level that I used to have watching Brady going,
he's gonna find I don't know what it's gonna be.
Maybe it's gronk, maybe it's running backs out of the backfield,
but he's gonna find a way to get down the
field and they're gonna kick a field goal, They're gonna
get a touchdown. This is gonna come down to the

(28:21):
last possession of the game, and I have more confidence
that Mayfield's gonna be able to do it than Darnold.
Will I'll take Tampa getting the three and a half,
knocking the points, Tampa Bay wins on the field and
it's Mayfield doing it at the end.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
You mentioned the great young receiver that Seattle has already.
Tampa Bay has a great young receiver who they just drafted,
a Mecca Abuka, and so when they have Mike Evans
out with yet another hamstring injury at his career, Abuka
steps up big time. You mentioned the comebacks late, and
there were what three straight to start the season from
Baker Mayfield. He even said this week, We've got to

(28:54):
start faster, we got to come out swinging. And in fact,
the Bucks have fallen behind like that Philadelphia game this
batch weekend, and the Bucks have allowed touchdowns on their
first possession on defense three of their first four games.
It's on the road, it's at Seattle. It's a battle
of three and one teams. You're right, you wouldn't think
that this is going to be a great matchup.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
It is exit. How about a Fresca Jason Smith, Steve
Desager in from Mike Carmon again, I'll take I'll keep
riding on that Mayfield train a time now to find
out what's trending in the wide world of sports. Steve
hasatt and plus all the money he won betting game
one of the WNBA Finals tonight. Steve has these details
and more.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Right now, it is a best of seven.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Now.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
By the way, this was game one in Vegas tonight,
Las Vegas eighty nine eighty six over Phoenix, Game two
of the WNBA Finals Sunday afternoon. Alyssa Thomas for Phoenix
fifteen points, ten rebounds, nine assists in the loss, but
she had five turnovers and on free throws was won
for four.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
She missed two free throws eight with fifteen seconds left
that would have given them the lead.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Instead, they were down three on the final possession, missed
a three, lost by three. The NBA preseason had New
Orleans winning at Melbourne one oh seven ninety seven's I
and Williamson fifteen points in about fifteen minutes LA's Luka
donsich off. This weekend, the Lakers are facing Phoenix in
Palm Desert, California. Tonight. It is early third quarter. Sun's

(30:16):
up nineteen sixty three forty four And did you know
the Sun's starting lineup tonight includes Brooks and Dunn. Dylan
Brooks and Ryan Dunn starters for the Phoenix Suns this year.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
TJ clearly the Sun's running the boots scoot boogie offense
tonight against the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
No Lebron as well as no Dansich, no Marcus Smart,
no Gabe Vincent for the Lakers as well. The New
York Knicks got to win over Philadelphia in Abu Dhabi
Thursday to open the preseason. They'll play against each other
again on Saturday. Saturday night, Miami plays in Puerto Rico
against Orlando, and New Orleans will play another game in Melbourne.
The NHL regular season starts Tuesday, It's preseason ends Saturday night.

(30:58):
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is out this weekend with a
hamstring injury, so Cooper Rush will make his first start
for the Ravens, a team that's one and three and
in fact, we'll be missing three other Pro Bowlers from
last year. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels return Sunday after the
sprain knee that will be playing the Chargers in La
Daniels did practice fully all week. He is from southern California.

(31:19):
But wide receiver Terry McLaurin is out this weekend with
a quad injury, as is wide receiver Noah Brown with
groin and CAF injuries. Jets running back Braylan Allen will
be missing two to three months with a sprain knee.
Dallas will be missing at least three offensive lineman against
the Jets, and wide receiver Ced Lamb is still out.
There's plenty of college football already, wins for South Florida

(31:40):
and Western Kentucky currently number twenty three BYU leads fourteen
to three against West Virginia mid second quarter at San
Diego State. The Aztecs lead is fourteen to seven now
against Colorado State again in the second halftime on FS one.
San Jose State at home leads twenty one seventeen against
New Mexico. Texas Rangers hired Skip Schumacher as manager. He

(32:03):
was an advisor for the team this past season. He
gets a four year contract with Texas. Schumacher was NL
Manager of the Year with the Marlins two years ago.
Baseball's Divisional Series will start on Saturday, including the Yankees
at Toronto on Fox TV four pm Eastern time. Game
two will be on FS one Sunday afternoon from Toronto.
Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gossman will start Game one against

(32:25):
the Yanks against pitcher Luis Hill, who was last year's
AL Rookie of the Year. New York's Will Warren will
be in the bullpen. Max Freed will start Game two
Sunday for the Yankees. Again, the Yanks were best in
the majors in Homer's RBIs, run scored, and walks drawn.
The Blue Jays did tie the Yankees for first in
the AL East, but Toronto held the tiebreaker, therefore earned

(32:47):
the top seed in the AL therefore have home field
for this round. Therefore did not play a wild card
series earlier this week, so they've really been off. Detroit's
at Seattle on FS one with game one on Saturday
night eight eight pm eight thirty pm Eastern Time. Sunday
eight pm Eastern for Game two at Seattle.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Oh hey, Steve, Hey, oh I like that.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Drop. Let's let's record that one and play it. I
like that. I like that. Oh yeah, it's a guy.
I like that. I like that.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Yeah. You're the show?

Speaker 4 (34:19):
Right?

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Is this being broadcast?

Speaker 1 (34:23):
It's not on the air.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
This is just take two for the podcast, right, I'm
broadcasting here MS.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Quiet numb Skulls. We got Pete Futech coming up about
a half hour. All the big football pitch this weekend
in college football, but two games that are going to
gain our attention more than any tomorrow. Like I told
you first hour of the show, if I could watch
one game tomorrow, it's Clemson North Carolina because of the drama,
but two other games that bring a lot of eyeballs

(34:53):
for a couple of different.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Reasons, of course, is.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yes and Penn State Ucla. There you go and spread
is now segment done. I'm still taking Penn State. I
don't know what the points spread could be for Penn
State Ucla where I'm not gonna take Penn State.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I agree it could be forty.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
I don't know is fifty enough Like forty, I would
still take Penn State. I still would because they're they're
pissed coming off the last week, and and Ucla I
can't believe they still have a football program. I really,
I can't believe this.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Like Ucla actually played a very close game at Penn
State last year and that will mean nothing tomorrow at
the rose Balls dominant.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Fifty Maybe I don't know, fifty might be enough, Like
could I see them?

Speaker 3 (35:34):
When I mentioned earlier, I saw on the scroll that
Penn State was only favored by twenty four and I
was shocked. Twenty four and a half and it's gonna
be way larger than that by the.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
End of the show. It'll be at forty by the
end of the show.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I think real quickly. I think the twenty four and
a half was as many UCLA fans is going to
be rose. Ucla scored ten against New Mexico people.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
I think I think that's the over under for fans
of the Rose Balls twenty four.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
And twenty four and a half. Right, you see, I
got ten in the opener against Utah. Remember that game
in the small stadium at Northwestern Harmon's place last weekend?
Wasn't UCLA down seventeen nothing before they got a couple
of touchdowns?

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Lost seventeen week Steve, it's the blueout, it's.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Against the white out people. You know, this is the
national There's nothing else on CBS but this game.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
Yeah, this game.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
They have no other game to go to during Penn
State at Ucla. So can we just say preemptively Yankees
at Toronto is on Fox TV tomorrow. We're PM Eastern.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
You know what? I want that first question halftime to
James Franklin to be, Hey, how do you feel about
the start time of this game? Boy?

Speaker 2 (36:39):
It's hot, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Well? You're really hot down here? Isn't it bad?

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Games that you're gonna ask him about the Yankees Toronto game?
Maybe CBS would have the SEC if they didn't. Yeah,
yeah at CBS with.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
This game thirty eight three, can you tell me Aaron
Judges coming up with two on and two out in
the six, what do you think is going to happen?
But look, the guy with the most pressure on him
this week is arch Manning. All of a sudden, Hey
we're back to arch Manning. Why because now he's got
a game that's nationally televised against Florida. Now is Florida

(37:15):
any good? No? But still it's Florida and Texas is
on the road. And after the game, the incredible subpar
game that he had against Ohio State. He has had
three weeks against three teams that are on the schedule
right whether it's San Jose State, UTEP, Sam Houston. They
went thirty eight to seven, very underwhelming, twenty seven to

(37:38):
ten win. They beat Sam Houston fifty five. Nothing. This
is the first time we'll watch arch Manning with a
lot of interest since week one. And I'll tell you what,
we got to see something from him now, like he
has had three buys to fix whatever it was versus
Ohio State. Now it's a bad Florida team, but it's
still Florida. If he doesn't do it this week. Forget

(38:01):
the rest of the season. When they play Oklahoma coming up,
it's gonna look.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Just like Saturday, Yeah that's away.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
It'll look just like the Ohio State game. How is
arch Manning this bad? How is he not good? Right?
You and I did the show right going into the
regular season the night before and said, you know what
if arch Manning stinks this year? What if he's just
not good? So it's really our fault because you know,
the number one guy coming into the season of college
football has not been good. No one really talked about
that until we said it. And now look what we've

(38:29):
done to arch Manning. But really, I got to see
this tomorrow or there's no way he's going to be
able to get it going for the rest of the season.
This is a perfect example of him against a high
profile team that again on the road. It's gonna be hot,
right Tabahat's gonna be eighty degrees, eighty plus degrees. But
this is a game Texas should win. And if he's
figured things out now, he's had a month. That's a

(38:50):
long time. He's had a month to figure this out.
If he's no good, forget it. I am not buying
on him the rest of the season.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Meanwhile, the Florida Gators quarterback was a highly how to recruit,
Dj Lagway, who has five touchdown passes and six interceptions
so far. And if the Florida Gators had not scheduled
Long Island to start the season, they would be winless
this year because after being Long Island to begin, Florida
lost a close one to South Florida, which one again tonight.

(39:18):
They lost at LSU, and they lost at Miami. Now
it's Texas. It's possible the Gators are one and four
after tomorrow now, Jim, I haven't played Georgia yet, they
haven't played Tennessee yet, et cetera.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
I don't know, Steve, in recent college football history, Okay,
just to give not that just for Florida for a second.
I don't know that I've seen this difficult of a
month's schedule ever in college football. Their month after they
lose to South Florida number three, LSU, number four, Miami
number nine, Texas number six, Texas A and m you

(39:53):
have four top ten teams in a month. You have
played four top ten teams in a row. I don't
know anybody that's going to survive that schedule.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
You know, somebody, I hope when by the time I'm
on the air tomorrow night, I hope they find an
answer to that, because that is a great trivia question.
Who was the last in the same month to play
against four top ten teams? That's hard to do.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
I don't know. I don't know that. You got to
ask the great researcher, Sarah Langes if she can find that.
But it doesn't matter. She can find it. She's a
great researcher. She gotta find it.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
She probably could find it.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
Actually, three, four, nine, and six. You play four top ten,
you gotta probably go back to like Army in the
nineteen forties when they play, well, we got Navy, we
have no tre Dame, we have Columbia and Penn all
those teams in the top ten. There's only ten teams,
but that's what we have. That's all we have. Exit
up out of Fresco, exit swollen. Don't we take a
look at three big NFL storylines coming up next

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
