mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot Com is the way tire
buying should be. Well here we are jumping right into
a Thursday night Thursday Night football. The Giants lead the
Eagles right now, twenty to seventeen, and oh to be
a flying the wall of every Philadelphia sports fan who
turned over from the Phillies Dodgers to go, oh, we're
(01:11):
losing this guy, Jackson Dart. I can't wait what's happened?
I gonna turn this off. I got are the Flyers on?
This is I can't believe this. This is awful to
be a flying the wall in all those houses. The
Flyers lost to click click. But it's only one game. Yeah,
but there's lost two one.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, but you didn't get to say, all right, it's
beginning a new great season.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
No, they lose to the page when the Sixers, Oh,
you're terrible. I don't we go When when's Villanova start basketball? When?
When can we have that? This is awful? This is it?
You need something? Oh, I mean really just to be it,
to to be at a fly on the wall for
Philadelphia fans right now? Click?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Come on, how would you love to be sitting at
a bar just that guys sitting in the corner, just
sipping away on your or chewing your guinness plug, just
watching the world melt.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I mean, Mark Ruffalo got kidnapped in the Pennsylvania Woods.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Mark.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
If Clinton is in on it, I mean it's been
a rough last in on. She's in on it. Martha Blinton.
Good to see Martha Clinton still gets look at this.
That's great. I can't but now now I go go
back to beautiful girls, and I come on, I can't
watch any sports anymore sports and sports doesn't exist in Philadelphia,
doesn't exist. It's a lot of Pain's awful.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Do you do you just automatically go running up the
stairs to the Rocky Statue to find something good.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
I need solace. We have to all just sit there
and just sit around it and like pray to the gods.
We get a new Rocky movie or something.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
And lining up around the block to just have some consolation.
Cheese steak, I mean, good lord, And who is this
dart guy? Who is this dart?
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I can't who? I thought it was Russell Wilson. I
really was looking for Eli Manning. Who is this dark
guy that just carving us up? I don't understand. I'm
gonna go back to the post game.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Now, post game for the Phillies. I mean that that'll
be gold. I mean, we had it the other night.
You can imagine they're at each other's throats by this point.
I mean, there's just so much going on. One of
the wildest games of absolutely, I mean just chaos, like
decision after decision you're scratching your head going why, huh what?
(03:08):
And then the final play. I think Monsei's door was
cracked open over at the news desk. I'm hoping we
didn't bleed onto the air because there were expletives flying
as to what is going on.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Dodgers and Phillies tied it one in the eleventh. An
absolute fantastic playoff game, throwback to when pictures were dominant.
Rob Thompson is bringing in every single starting picture he had. Carlton, yeah,
he might get a little bit. I still think that's
a ball move to first base. Carlton has still I
still think that's a buck but bringing in everybody A
(03:44):
Lozardo comes in and and it was. It was an
incredible game. Rookie Sasaki goes three, a relief for the Dodgers.
U Vessi gets out of a jam of his own
creation in the top of the eleventh, and this is
how it ends. Bases loaded, bottom of the eleventh, and
this is after Ariyan Kirkering comes in without a pretty
good year for Philadelphia and walks Will Smith to load
(04:07):
the bases. Okay, so bass is loaded after a single
puts runners at first and third. Bass is loaded and
Andy Pa has us up and this is what happens.
This is the Philadelphia Phillies radio network.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
The one swinging a broken back.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Comebacker Cookering knocks it down, picks it up by home
to the back stop, and the season is over. The
rushing out Kirkering, who stands with his hands on his.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Knees bent over, and here I start to play in
the All you had to do is just I sit
there and just here there's a throat on the plate,
and the season is over said, The season is over.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
All that call was missing is and now they joined
the Mets and can't go Hey, hey, hey, Yankees lose
last night, Phillies lose tonight, both out of the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
That's a Mets win. That's the happiest. I can wear
my Mets gear again. Man, that's the happiest here since
Jonah Tong Man hurt. I don't care. Win's the World
Series now. It doesn't matter, man, it doesn't matter. Well,
I mean he would be wearing elves still. But that's okay, man,
I can wear my gear again. I'm like, okay, all right, vanquished.
(05:25):
It's exciting. They didn't get much further than we did. Look,
I'd love to be able to give you a different
kind of take on this play for Kirkering's perspective, and look,
this is He's going to be all over social media.
This is going to be a play that haunts him
for his entire life. Paz hits a grounder back to
the pitcher and it's a decent it's hitting at decent.
It's not it's not a rope. It's not one of
(05:47):
those boy you know, exit velocity one hundred miles an hour.
But he has He's got a pretty good swing on him,
and Kirkering knocks it down. The ball is in front
of him the entire time. He has all kinds of
time to throw to first base. Right he has all
kinds of time, and Kim is on third base, and
he's one of the two fastest players in baseball. He
(06:07):
gets to these guys in baseball. We're on that side
of the diamond right there, Trey Turner and Kim. He's
the fastest guy in baseball. And you can see real
Muto standing in front of him pointing, go to first,
Go to first, Go to first. But Kirkering panics, obviously
because I don't know why, Pad I can see the play.
I'm sure what happened was the ball's in front of me.
(06:29):
Everybody's going crazy. The stands are screaming. I see the
play in front of me, and I don't seek him.
I'm gonna throw home. And instead of knowing that, Okay,
what does your training tell you? What is your what
is all your baseball knowledge tell you? Pick it up
and go to first Paz is halfway down the line.
You have a It is a close play, it's probably
within a step and a half at first base, but
(06:50):
it's an easy play. Seems you pick it up and throw.
But he's thinking it's fifty. It's thirty feet and forty
feet in front of me, whatever it is. And all
I got to do is throw home. It's a force
out and he throws it wild to the plate. The
game winning run scores. The Dodgers go on to the
NLCS and the Phillies go home, and I watch Kirkham
(07:11):
come off, and I said, oh my god, I feel
so bad for this kid. And Rob Thompson gave him
a big hug after and talk to him after the game.
And you see that and go, oh my goodness, like
this is going to be in his in his head
the rest of his career. But look, I can't he
can't cut it up. You gotta know to go to
first base. There's there's there's nothing I can tell. There's
nothing that will tell you. Hey, thinking this thing. I mean,
(07:31):
you have to know. It's just like any other any
other player in the field. It has to know when
the ball is hit to me, what am I doing
with it?
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Right?
Speaker 1 (07:38):
You have to know? Okay, what am I doing here?
If the ball is hit back to me. I got
the fastest guy on the team, and the second fastest
guy second fat at worse second with the guy in
baseball trying to score from third base, it's gonna break
on contact. So what am I going to do? Where
am I going with the ball? If it's hit to me,
I gotta go to first If it's a slow roller
in front of me, and then I can shovel to
(07:58):
the plate. But anything else, I gotta go to first base.
And that was not something that he went through and
instead it was a panic and and the throw to
the plate was bad. I don't know if he would
have got him time because real Muto wasn't standing like
give me, you know, could you stand like a first baseman,
like hey, give me the ball?
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Right?
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Like he's like he's got his left foot on the
back part of the plate, and so any throw that
comes in now it's awkward for him to get it
because he's not ready for it. He's not he's also
not ready for the play. We're going, okay, if the
ball is hit here, he should be standing on the
plate ready for a throw. Still point to throw to
first base. But still you got to get in a
(08:39):
position where I'm going to It's only a force play.
You have to be in positioned to get the ball.
And instead, his left foot is on the back of
the plate. So when the throw comes wild, he can't
just go crazy and go get it because he's going
to run into the runner. And that's how the ball.
Not that he would have stayed on the plate, but
that would have made it a little bit better play.
Maybe the throw would have been better had he gotten out.
(09:00):
They had gotten on the plate and said, okay, I'm
here for a throw at the plate. That was a
fail by Kirkery. It was a fail by rail Muto
and the Phillies are going home and you see the
replay from the side angle. All the Phillies infielders just
put their hands on their heads like what just and
Bryce Harper just stands at first base, like, I can't
believe that just happened. Now they're going home?
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, I mean, like just the lack of communication before
the balls put in play right, and everybody's got to
know what they're doing. Catcher doesn't set up properly. He's
pointing and literally jumping up and down throw at the
first base, so you don't even get that You've got
has not moving well down the line, whatever's going on there.
But you had plenty of time to turn and make
(09:39):
your throw. I just we've talked about fundamentals. We talked
a lot about the Yankees going home, the Little League
comments that were made throughout the year that came to fruition,
and once again, a team goes home because they can't
execute a basic baseball play.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Oh man, if that happened to the end, that's how
the Yankees went home, you know what I mean? The
Oh my goodness, all right.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Everybody, what's the play? Take the easiest out? Well, that
play home wasn't the easiest out.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
No, I mean that look, and that's a pressure situation
that you weren't ready for. And you know this is
what that's what sends teams home. Right. I mean this
is where you have to know like all of those things,
like defensively, and you look around baseball and you go, okay,
maybe it's not just the Yankees. Maybe maybe it's it's
less of an attention to detail overall that we're seeing
(10:27):
in this playoffs, because we see things like hey, on
bunt plays, knowing that if we're gonna execute this, butnt
we have the slowest runner possible at second base? Can
we really pull this bunt off when we had a
guy that's not gonna get a great jump? Can we
do it? Like you see some like I see so
many things in the game, some ancillary parts and complementary
parts of big plays, like hey, they weren't ready for
that part of the play either. So it's not just hey,
(10:48):
feel the ball, go to first base, like you see
the real Muto. Dude, as soon as you hit that,
stand on the plate ready. He may have to come
to you. What do you do? Well, why are you
pointing throat? I mean yes, point to throat, be standing
there ready for the ball? Yeah? First first, first, first, first,
but stand there for the ball.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Yeah, you gotta you gotta give him optionality. And we
didn't see that again and going back to I mean,
the Dodgers executed the perfect wheel play. We've broken it
down a million aways till Sunday on that. But bunting
in general is also something you don't do very often,
which means your degree of difficulty in executing it properly
is going to be low. Now, now we actually saw
(11:21):
a legit sacrifice bunt yesterday. I was like, hey, one
of those got down. No pop ups, no uh, two
hard hits, so the lead runner gets cut down. All
of those we actually saw it executed.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
You put it in the loover, hanging the loaf, hanging
the loaf exit out by the Fresco exit, swallowing dome.
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon Live from the.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Man.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I'll tell you, Dave Robert Look, we'll get into this game.
There's a lot to get into your Dave Roberts escapes.
You know, a big line of questioning after game going, dude,
you take out glassnowy after eighty three pitches, Dude, what's
wrong with you? Man? What are you doing? And you're
bringing a guy that gives up a run right away
like that seventh inning for the Dodgers. That's everything that
could send the Dodgers home, Dave Roberts bullpen decisions, the
(12:03):
bullpen itself and their defense. Can we all contribute it
to that Philadelphia Phillies run? That's act, But can we
get both managers together? We just pin ball questions?
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Hey show, Hey, Otana o'tani hasn't hit the broadside of
a bar in this entire series. Where are you walking
him to get to Mooky Bennet's Yeah, that might have
been the dumbest thing. Let's just keep going on down.
All right, let's go back to Dave Roberts, You're next.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
I laughed my ass off when they did that. Is
that before that? Guys? I think he's struck out in
three pitches? Oh he did? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yeah, Oh, he was awful. And he's waving at the ball.
He's turned like his mechanics are completely just gone. Right now,
he's he's seeing ghosts. Just a miserable at bat after
miserable at bat. You bail him out, hey, take the
automatic four? And Mookie Betts is licking his chop. What
was he eight of eighteen in those scenarios? I think
was the data that flashed up and then he immediately walks,
(12:55):
so absolute chaos Dodgers advance. Now he got the Cubs
up three nothing on the Brewers here top of four,
boyd getting after it.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
So here we here we go. But man, I'll tell
you what you have to have thoughts for Philadelphia fans
right now, not just the Phillies. The Giants have now
opened up a ten point lead over the league. Statam
move twenty seven seventeen midway through the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
That guy is a house. The jugger Nott was added
again at the goal line. I'm telling you, man, that
second touchdown run, Man, that is that.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Is everything right day. Hey, hey, you know, reach out
to h to a Philly sports fan, you know, and
just make sure they're okay all right, because I got
because tonight might not be a great night for them.
What's the official beer of Philadelphia? Just watch out of
Iron City that it's Pittsburgh. That's Pittsburgh and maybe maybe Peel's,
I don't know, Peels, bar Bottles, Cores, No thatching that's
in Denver, Chason.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Both of their teams lost last weekend, if you remember, yeah,
and they were on the brink the fans, oh no,
last night, the Giants win this game?
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Well, I don't know, Yeah, right, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I
mean you had to say sandwich of mess Elle sandwich
el sandwich.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Of mess and so is it oh maybe, okay? Sure?
Is it just an overall Pennsylvania beer. Yeah, there's gotta
be some kind of some kind of local Philly beer.
Es you like, you're out there in Philly and you're
crying in the beer. Let me know what it is?
Got swollen dome, Matt, how about a Fresco watch? Or
if you're Jason Smith, you would say, Hey, you know
I'm gonna go get a cheese steak. I think that's
(14:25):
what you do. Hey, I need some extra wi. We're
gonna go out. I'm gonna go down with I definitely
whiz wit, never whiz without ext whiz wit. In fact,
just give me the win. Just give me the whiz.
Give me the whiz. It's all I want. I want
to just give me the whiz on a big piece
on big pizza bread. Just give me that exit. How

(15:06):
air about the Giants and the Eagles yesterday? You said, Okay,
well you know what, We're gonna do that coming up next.
We're gonna do that coming up next, because Alex Tischert
now is like Frankenstein's Monster, where he's learning about sports
and at a rate where he could take over the world.
Is he like an AI bot that's been actualized? Wait
till I tell you, and I you know, and I
will tell the story because I will tell the truth
(15:27):
as to what Alex Tischert said yesterday. And really, I
may have to call our managers at Fox Sports Radio
and say, hey, you got to do me a solid
on something more on this game coming up next right here?
The Eagles are in a lot of trouble chasing and Mike.

me Dan Beyer on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast and
wherever you be your podcasts.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
I hate that song.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
I'm standing up in the studio. Philly lost. It couldn't
make a throw to the plate and the catcher wasn't
ready for it any way, and the piz is the hero.
And people turned over to the Eagles game and they
(16:46):
see the score. This one's nod in their favor. There's
greased up poles downtown. They're gonna start climbing them now.
Even the Flyers couldn't. There's no real big hope because
the Sixers are awful. What are they saying in Philadelphia?
(17:10):
We hate sports? We hate sports all the time. Now,
even the Union, I hate them too.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
If only you can carry a tune in a bucket,
you'd be dangerous.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Fox Sports Radio, we got an auto two in your ass.
The Jason Smith Show of the Mike Harmon Live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Yeah. Uh. The Giants lead
the Eagles right now, twenty seven seventeen. Late in the
third quarter. However, Jackson Dart on a scramble, gets down,
(17:48):
gets hit a couple of times in the helmet Johnson
dragging him down. Looks like there's helmet to helmet a
little bit on the side. He's hitting the shoulder. Then
he gets hit again going down. He is being tended
to on the field. Russell Wilson right now is warming
up frantically on the sideline. And for this to happen
(18:08):
now when Giants fans are sitting here going, my goodness, man,
and it's tough for me, Mike Harmon, it is tough
for me. God, I know it's tough for you to
watch Jackson Dart and Cam Scattaboo. And now the Giants
are fun, they're young, they found their quarterback. Clearly, Jackson
Dart is the guy. The energy he brings to the team.
The fearlessness with which he plays kind of has a
little bit of Baker Mayfield to his game. The Giants
(18:31):
they take a chance in the draft and they hit
their quarterback. They hit a running back that people thought, Ah,
how effective is this guy really gonna be in the NFL?
And all of a sudden, the Giants have hope. Everybody
love it, and I watch a Jets go, man, we're
gonna go oh to seventeen. It's tough for me to
see that.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Mike Harmon, No, after a lifetime of hoping you were
finally on proper gund I mean, your guy was supposed
to build a culture. I might have heard that from
someone I know. Anyway, we'll push that aside for a moment,
but yeah, Scatabo's one of the most fun stories of
the year. In Jackson Dart they trade back up into
the back end of the first round and he sits,
(19:08):
bides his time, and once it's time to take Russ
off the burner, he comes in. He plays the one
question that we'd had, and we'd asked this quite a bit,
is I don't want to change a guy's style to
that what makes him extra special?
Speaker 4 (19:23):
Right?
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Special thrower?
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Of the football, a lot of starts, all of that stuff,
but the plays with his legs, Like we talked about
it with Cam Newton, We've talked about it with so
many other quarterbacks. Eventually you shift and there's more of
the fifty to fifty and eventually pocket throwing in theory
is the lifeline that you want to go to. For
Jackson Dart, we've watched him run with reckless abandons, just
(19:44):
some huge plays. This one on a scramble unfortunately gets
hit twice, glancing blow. It look like from the side,
a little bit of helmet and then the helmet goes
into his shoulder and down he crumples. So hopefully he's okay.
But yeah, they're one of the most fun story's going.
Are they good?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:02):
But they got two guys that are really entertaining. And
that's the thing is is you need to say, who
are we right? Who what's our identity? And now clearly
they know Jackson Dart is our quarterback, right and look
is it is it gonna manifest itself in tons of
wins this year? Probably not. Look, they're having a big
night tonight again. Gig Robinson is good. Uh, you know, Look,
(20:23):
they'll get neighbors back next year, obviously.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Say little Jordan Humphrey's got four catches.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
He's got four catch It's it's tough, and it's good
to see Jackson Dart jog off the sideline. Looks like
he's going he may be going right to the tent. Yeah,
I mean to check it right now. He's going right
to the tent to get checked. But he did get
up and jog off the field, so that part of
it seems like it's okay. Uh. I think it's Brian
Dable trying to get into the tent and he want
to go on. They would how long do I have
(20:53):
to work with Russell Wilson? How long can I stall?
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (20:56):
I want to be in here?
Speaker 4 (20:56):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:56):
No, this is like in the uh in the TV
shows where they go, hey, we got to talk to
the kid by himself. The dad's gonna want to be
in there. No, no, no, you gotta tell the dad
he kN know. I had that happen to me a
little over a year ago. My daughter is, she's in
a game and she goes up for a header. Girl
comes up underneath her and catches her eye just right,
splits it like deep cut and just explodes in the blood, right,
(21:20):
and so she's got she's getting attention on the side,
and as they're attending to her, she's she's still barking
out defensive instructions for this sideline. The opposing coach, who
was fifteen feet away, was not terribly pleased. But we
go to the hospital to get her check. They've got
a game later on that day, right, they win. They're
they're playing deeper into this tournament, and so like I'm
(21:40):
getting texted from the coach everybody, she's gonna be able
to go. And then finally they pull her away from me.
They pull her in the room. Yeah, like five people
are in there. You got the doctor, treaty or you
got a nurse they brought down.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Someone's got this giant binder like and they separate and
it's like she's waving at me, smiling, And ten minutes
later they come back.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
I go, that was the dad. Is dad forcing you
to go back and play?
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Right?
Speaker 3 (22:06):
It's like, yep, you know exactly, that's it. Every question
was is he gonna force you back on? Because she
was asking to go play. She's like, can we stitch
it up? Can I wear you know what the protective
little little cap or whatever, and they're like, that's not
your dad. General, it's like, you don't know my dad
at all. But certainly I've seen that in action. I've
(22:27):
been there because Dable really looked like he tried to
get into the tent. They were like, no, you can't.
And now he is screaming at somebody on the sideline.
I don't know what look look, Scataboo tries to go
into the tent. They let Scataboo in. He goes in
the tent with Jackson.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Don't see what Jackson's good, right, I mean, I mean maybe,
I mean, I don't made Jason.
Speaker 6 (22:46):
Unless you're a doctor, you're not getting in right.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
But Scataboo tried to get Scataboo got in seconds. He
just made a scatabo Are you gonna stop him? But
he's the juggernaut. But somebody he's yelling at someone on
the sideline. I can't tell if it's an NFL. I assume.
I'm just saying. I'm assuming. I'm assuming it's an NFL
official of some kind that told him you can't be
in there. He's got to be evaluated, you know, independently.
(23:11):
And he is screaming at this guy like it's just
a guy in a trend in a trench coat. I
mean he's he's clothed, he's wearing more than a trench coat.
He's he's on the spotline in a suit with a
trench coat.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Anytime you say trench coat, everybody immediately like our range.
Certainly that was that was the stranger danger look after
the guy in the trench coat.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Now, that was always like the movies in the seventies. Yes,
the woman would show up at the house wearing nothing
but a trust. You had that side of it too.
I mean it cut both ways. So he's screaming at
somebody on the side. We don't know who it is,
and Dable is really not and he keeps he's he's
shaking his head. This is now probably about ninety seconds
of him being mad about something, and I assume it's
got something to do with whatever's going on in the
(23:50):
medical tent. And so they're still looking at Jackson Dart.
The Giants can't get a first down. They punt away
to the Eagles, who have the football now deep in
their own end with thirty seconds to go in the
third quarter. Giant's still enjoying a ten point lead. But man,
I mean this is some kind of job drama for
I mean watching Dart, he's out of the he's out
(24:10):
of the tent now and he's on the sideline getting water.
So you would assume that he's good to go. If not,
he'd be going back into the tunnel. I assume Dart's
gonna come back in the game. Maybe Dabel sprinted right over.
Maybe Dabele wants Dart out of the game. Hey, I'm
going back to Russell Wilson. You stay in that tent.
You come out what I tell you? Okay?
Speaker 3 (24:27):
No, that was funny and Dabel looking more and more like, uh,
what's his name? David Denham when he was Roy in
the office versus the yoked up version that he is
on Peacemaker.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Oh, I think you say the yoked up version he
was in replacements, he was a tight end.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Yeah, yeah, No, I'm taking him in the current day
where he's he's a big part of season two of
Peacemaker spoiler alert. But he's yoked up now. But yeah,
Dabel couldn't find Jackson Dart fast enough. Hey, okay, you goot,
I tell you it.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Is, you know.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
For my first reaction when I see the Giants that go.
Of course this works out for the Giants. Of course
it always does the Giants. Always they the Giants fall
in a hole and they come upon like a pile
of money. Like that's what happens to the Giants, right,
It's terrible. Things are bad. Hey, we're gonna draft Jackson Dart.
Who knows all the quarterbacks in the draft that would go? Hey,
who knows if any of these guys are any good?
(25:16):
Cam Ward is just okay. He's just a guy. We
don't even talk about him. Other guys can't get on
the field, guys are still injured. Oh, Jackson Darts, But no,
he's great. And cam'scattaboy. Ah, he's not fast enough now,
he's still got a ceiling camscatabouy in the NFL because
he is not as fast. But he is someone that
you can give him the ball a lot. He can
chew the clock for you. He's someone that's gonna be
(25:37):
great to give the ball the red zone. He just
brings excitement to the team. He's a fan favorite. And
all of a sudden, the Giants have something going on
and they have their identity and and things are great.
And I just sit here and go, what the hell
are the Jets doing? What are we even doing for
the better part of forty years? How can we not
just get lucky once with a guy? Can't get good
lucky once with a dude?
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Now?
Speaker 1 (25:57):
And the funny part of that it is you've changed
GMS how many times? Oh, twelve, thirteen, fourteen.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
So no matter which philosophy you've chosen, it's been wrong.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
No, everything the Jet No, everything the Jets do is wrong,
and the giants just fall into sad. So drink that
poison the giant. The giants are that kid that never
studies and stays out all night and goes, yeah, how'd
you do on your test? A ninety seven? Ninety seven man,
I studied for like the entire week. I didn't go
out and I got an eighty four. I don't know
what to tell you. I'm just naturally things just happened.
I'm just naturally smart, and things just I hated kids
(26:29):
like that. I hated hated kids like that they could
do that. I hated those kids. You ever go back
to your reunion and give them a swinging neck break anything.
Reunions aren't my thing.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
I've never gone to one. I get the notices and
I just kind of chuckles, like, yeah, show up like
Ferrell and John c Riley a step brothers.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
No.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
In fact, the last the last reunion we had it
was it was I think it was the thirtieth anniversary.
Is a big with the thirtieth high school reunion, right,
you didn't go to he and a lot of people
people are gonna go I graduate. I graduate top ten
percent of my class man, I was. I was great kindergarten. Stop. No,
I did really good in school. I mean the mailbox
staff should really negate all that. I mean, I I peaked,
(27:11):
my grades peaked in junior high school.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Yeah. Good.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
But so the last we had it was thirty years,
just a couple of years ago, and they said it
out and a lot of people were going, and for
maybe a half a second, I thought, oh do we
want a time at trip to New York to go back?
But I don't really talk to anybody outside of on Facebook,
and I'm like, Okay, I'm not going to go to that. Well,
I'm like, you know, my wife says, you sure you
don't want to go?
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Go? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:31):
No, I'm good. I don't want to go And then
I find out, Okay, the reunion's off and we have
to postpone it. Who Everyone's like what because apparently somebody
was making threats that they were going to do something
at the reunion. Wow, and nobody said who it was?
Every like no kid, Like I think the people that
were setting up the reunion knew, but they wouldn't tell
them that. They would just tease everybody with, oh, no,
(27:52):
this person need to know. This person needs to talk
to somebody, you need help, they need this. No, no, no,
we can really tell them about I'm like, oh my god,
And I'm like what, like what what would?
Speaker 4 (28:00):
What was?
Speaker 1 (28:00):
What was threatening to go on?
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Like?
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Now I got to get involved in this. Now I
gotta find out. I want to know. I want to
know the Backstad never got the story, never got the story,
because what happened was they said, oh, then the people
who are gonna go, hey, can we do this again
in six months, and the and the and the planners
just said, you guys can do it. We're out. We're
not doing and we never had a reunion. Like I
think their unions are done. They're absolutely done. Yeah, half
of me wants to go back. Yeah, I mean i'd
(28:23):
want to do a live remote. Okay, I could do that.
I mean, they've got the capability, I think.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
But they look, they had a bunch of big shots
that went to my high school. Right, you talk about
Will Bunn, You're talking about Bob Newhart, John Mulaney.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
I mean, there's there's some heavyweights.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
And they pumped some money back in the the uh
to build out a little acting studio and broadcast studio whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
So I think we could actually do the show from there,
which would be fun.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Now speaking of great restaurants right down the street. Now
speaking of the show. Now, you're gonna I gotta tell
you something here, and you're you're not gonna be happy
about it. But I'm always a man of my word.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
So last night when we in the last hour of
the show, we picked tonight's game and and I said, look,
Eagles the over give the points. It look the giants.
The giants are fun, right, they hit on the right guy.
We told you that Jackson Dart was the guy. But
this is a get well week for the EF. You
can't get well against the giants. When are you gonna
get well? And the in the in the in the studio,
(29:22):
I said this, and Alex Tyshert says JJ, And I said, well,
he goes, Giants are gonna win this game by fourteen points.
I go, giants are going to win by two touchdowns. Yeah.
I go, that's not happening. He goes, Okay, if that happens,
I get a whole segment to myself on the show
tomorrow night. I said, okay, I picked the segment, but
(29:42):
you get the whole one. He says. Deal, here you
are right now, early in the fourth quarter, Giants have
a ten point lead and the ball and Alex Tyshert
new sports enthusiast, may get a whole segment to himself
on the show tonight. I might just make people a
lot of money, is all I'm gonna say.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Okay, it all right, all right, you do at least
get some editorial control of what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
I know I didn't. I had no idea what kind
of theories are gonna pop out in those ten minutes.
He might have some scam.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
I am going to tell you some like water that
he u I wrenched up from somewhere.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
I mean, come on, I am I'm gonna say one thing.
I'm gonna say one thing, okay that my.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Name is on the shows.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
It's not it's not something. It can't be any sort
of money making scheme of course that you talk about. Okay,
stuff okay, okay, what okay, watch out the planes in
the air, right, okay, all right, So it can't be
any money making scheme. Can't be anything with conspiracies. Okay, No, no,
no conspiracies okay, no none that well, nothing happy to
do with your podcast, No, none. That we're all really
(30:43):
in the matrix and and and everything is planned. It
will be sports related really yes, wow, really ye okay,
all right, and plant based and act well of course
it's plant based. Of course, there's no there's no meat
protein involved in that. No, no, no, he's been back
on meat times. All right, all right, very good. Okay,
Uh so that could have. But again it's got to
be fourteen. It's got to be fourteen. If it's a
(31:05):
ten word, if it's a ten point win, you need
we're going full eight man out of you. We really,
we really need the Eagles to come back to your score,
the Eagles to score here. I didn't know what's going
to be said. I have no idea Scott's gonna be
on the phone here. What the hell are you doing,
excell No, I mean what exit? Ou about a Fresco
exit swollen dome. The Jason Smith Show with my best
(31:27):
friend Mike Carmen time how to find out what's trending
in the wide world of sports. So someone who's been
called the Brian Dable of Fox Sports Radio. Okay, it
was just a half hour ago. I saw her that mad,
but it was about the Dodgers game. It's Monty Belan.
Speaker 8 (31:40):
I was a little bit stressed. It was an ugly
game to watch. A little bit stressed.
Speaker 9 (31:44):
Ye, I was a little stressed.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
I walked in to say hi, and I get everything
in Spanish from here. Everything was in Spanish.
Speaker 9 (31:50):
Lucky you all right, lucky.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
You paid up a few words.
Speaker 9 (31:54):
Yeah, you're welcome, You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (31:56):
It was. It was a rough game to watch from
the beginning, rough just because there was no off on
either side. So it was a great pitching duel. And
now the pictures did their job, except at the very end.
That was a terrible error for Philadelphia, for the Phillies.
Speaker 9 (32:10):
Orion Cookering, right, that's his name, Cookering.
Speaker 8 (32:14):
Never I I was like, I looked into how long
he had been in the in the league.
Speaker 9 (32:18):
He's this is like his third year.
Speaker 8 (32:20):
He's still fresh and new, and that moment was so
big for him. Imagine being at Dodger Stadium, everybody booying you,
bases loaded.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
Let it.
Speaker 9 (32:30):
Just no, I just I feel bad for him. It's
one of those moments where you're like, man, I feel
bad for you.
Speaker 8 (32:34):
It's not like this was a touchback, you know, like
it's it was like a different type of error where
you were like, it just got too big for you.
You could tell in the moment when he fumbled the ball,
he forgot what he should have done, which was go
to first base, which is like the easy play, and
he went for the tough play, and hey, it works
out for the lawyers.
Speaker 9 (32:50):
Good job years. Okay, I don't I wouldn't call it
a walk off, but ulous, that was ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (33:00):
So Dodgers did defeat the Phillies on an error in
the eleventh inning with the bases loaded.
Speaker 9 (33:06):
Two to one. Was the final score.
Speaker 8 (33:08):
They're gonna face whoever wins out of the Cubs and
the Brewers. Now, right now, if the Cubs win this game,
there'll be a game five and the Cubs are up
Ian Happ with the three run shots, so it's three
zero bottom of the fifth inning. Brewers had a chance
to score in this one, but the Cubs got out
of it without any runs. Let's check in on football, Yeah,
Cam skataboo. He's got thirteen carries for fifty three yards
(33:30):
and two rushing touchdowns. Jackson Dart has thrown for one
hundred and eighty seven yards and a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (33:35):
He also has a rushing touchdown.
Speaker 8 (33:36):
Giants on top of the Eagles twenty seven to seventeen
early in the fourth quarter. If the Eagles don't figure
it out, this is gonna be a rough night for Philadelphia.
Other NFL it already is already.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
You're right, the Greater Philadelphia is already having a run.
Speaker 9 (33:51):
They're already having a rough night.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yah.
Speaker 9 (33:53):
Yeah, yeah, it's gonna get it worse.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
So how do tonight? Ah?
Speaker 8 (33:56):
I mean, ah, we'll check. We'll check there in just
the second. We'll check there in just the second. Other
NFL news. A couple players that miss practice yet again.
Raven's quarterback Lamar Jackson, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, forty nine
Ers quarterback Brock Pretty all of them still missing practice.
In case he missed it. In NBA news, Lakers forward
Lebron James, he's gonna miss the start of the season.
He's gonna miss three to four weeks with sciatica on
(34:17):
his right side. Now, let's check in on the Flyers
on the ice. Yeah, no, they lost. The Panthers won
two to one there, so yeah, it's just it's just
rough times in Philadelphia.
Speaker 9 (34:26):
You're right, you're right. When you're right, you're right right now.
Speaker 8 (34:29):
The Golden Knights and the Sharks are tied at one
apiece late in the first period. Ducks and Kraken tied
at one apiece late in the first period. Avalanche over
Mammoth Mammoth one zero late in the second period.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
I have a right Wolfgang van Halen's going to get
that team going very soon, don't.
Speaker 8 (34:44):
I was getting Never mind, Jets are losing. Stars, Stars
are up five to three late in the third.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Jets lose. Jets lose on Sundays, Jets lose on Thursdays.
Speaker 9 (34:53):
Jess Jets lose. Philadelphia's losing just to day.
Speaker 8 (34:56):
But Doyer's went back to you come up next.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
We got the play of the day coming your way,
and you want a big area of concern for the Dodgers,
who they should be worried about the most. The Answers show,
Hey Otani, I'll tell you why next Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Worst deal I've ever agreed to?
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Bad job by you Alex type shirt last night saying
Jay Giant's gonna win by fourteen. Not happening. Man, if
they win by fourteen, you get your own segment.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
One night, they were plus seven and a half, not
gonna got the hook because of the Jalen Carter deactivation,
a little bit of push in the over under as well.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Twenty seven to seventeen Giants with the lead. We talked
about it. A few minutes to go. Okay, yeah, okay,
it's not gonna happen. Eagles are driving to get the
ball in the ten yard line and Jalen Hurts telegraphs
a pass in the flat. The Giants pick it off,
It gets run back to the third yard line of
the Eagles, and now the Giants have a first down
(36:04):
in the red zone. After a pass interference call, they
could take this ten point lead and push it up
to seventeen. Tyser could wind up getting his own segment.
That's the worst idea I've ever agreed to. Yeah, that's
the worst thing, the absolute worst.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Man bit of a difficult call on Ringo, but he
got into Hyatt there as the balls being floated out.
I had a great pass by Dark to the corner
of the end zone. Now first and goal, and the
battering ram known as the Juggernaut is at it again.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I can't believe. Boy, this is gonna be terrible. Alex
getting ready for his own second is going to be
off by a point though. Oh yeah, it's got to
be exactly fourteen. Sorry, he's flipping all over the place.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
He did the Spider Man meme on the last one
where he did the backflip.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Scataboo is in the end zone for his third touchdown
of the guilt two. It is thirty three seventeen you
actually it's it's fourteen. You have it right now? Oh yeah,
it's it's miss the No, you're up by sitting No, No,
it's it's you want more points? Yeah, you want more point? Yeah, fourteen, right,
so if you get you get the extra point so
it's a seventeen point games. If they kick a field goal,
you still you still win Giants by fourteen.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
By the way, over under, it was either forty and
a half from forty one and a half.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
Hope you listen last night. Wow, this is insane. And
that's the worst that's the worst deal I've ever agreed to.
I made some I didn't even get consulted.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
I'm a little bit I'm insulted.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
I wasn't consulted. I did, I didn't. I didn't think
that I didn't think there was anything that could be
possibly happy.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
But you opened the door to chaos without at least
getting a second opinion.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
I know, I know. Now you're in a swirling vortex
of hell. Come on, man, it's like when you know
when you get those those those small elections, and and
and someone nominates like a cartoon character. Yeah, Peter Parker
is going to win the seat here in in uh
you know, Cumberland County for whatever it is. Wait, Peter Parker, Yeah,
Peter Parker's gonna win. It's gonna beat a six time
in because he's got like like thirteen hundred folks like that.
(38:02):
That that's the code you've entered the multiverse of madness.
I know, I know you went full long doing this,
and you open a portal to hell. This is my fault. Hell,
it really is my fault. Uh So thirty four seventeen
Eagles trailing because you have no idea what's behind door
number two over there.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
I know, dude, I I'm insane, but you at least
know I'm operating within some parameters.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Bring new information to me.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
I know this.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
I do not need you to tell me how deep
the ocean is. I know, I know this was a
bad idea, he says. Okay, I'm amuri demricatdo you don't
need to yell at me. I know what I did
was wrong. I know was wrong. But a form shiver
you like Gannon, and all of a sudden, everybody get mad.
Uh We'll have more football coming up a minute, but first,
it's the play of the day, brought to you by
(38:50):
tire Rack. For over forty years, tire Rack's been up
and customers find the right tires or how, what and
where they drive, shipped fast and free, backed by free
road hazard protection with conveniences like mobile tire installation. Tirec
dot Com is the way tire buying should be. Ah, well,
you know there's only one play of the day, and
here it is heart rates through the roof the O
(39:12):
one pitch. PA has grounds it back to Kirkery. He
can't find it. He does home.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
It's why ten stores and the Dodgers are going.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
To the Championship Series.
Speaker 5 (39:24):
Fireworks go Walton center Field. The Dodgers celebrate here first base,
but a ground ball back to the pitcher Andy Boches
somehow gets the job done.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
AM five seventy LA Sports on the call. Look, we've
talked about this a lot. We'll get back into it
in more detail in a few minutes, but I just
want to say this right, great for the dot obviously,
but one thing going forward, right to sit here and say,
Manu Shoho Tani has not been great either in the
playoffs last year and really this year in thirty four
(39:59):
playoff two playoff games now he struck out thirty four times.
He looks absolutely lost at the plate. He's hitting one
forty eight in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Now, he had that one base hit and we celebrated
it because he made contact with them. All right, it
was a big hit, right insurance run, All of that stuff.
But otherwise he's look lost. So that's the question for
Rob Thompson. I can't wait to hear what he had
to say in the post of intentionally walking him Like
he's been.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
The easiest out in the lineup. What are you doing?
Speaker 3 (40:27):
He he's due like you're a jackass sitting at home.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
It's like, Oh, he's due, He's due right now, right here.
Come on, baby, you gonna get no. I mean, he's
barely been better than Anthony Volpi. I mean, that's how
bad he's been. Wow, you volpied him. We got you
voped Otani Frostberg's gonna take my eyes out with a
with a with a spork. More Big News. Next Fox

(41:16):
You'll find today's full show and a best of version
posted right after we get off the air and they're
going off the air on Amazon right now. After a
Giants dominant win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Right now, there's
at least a few people go, wait, you meant Eagles,
but no, No Giants thirty four seventeen over the Eagles.
(41:36):
Jackson Dart and Cam Skataboo have provided New York with
not just to lift talent wise, but off the field wise.
The fan base is going crazy. You can see how
they have been able to take what they found in
the draft this year with both these guys, and it's
become electric. And we talked about this earlier in the show,
(41:59):
is that the Giants they need to figure out who
they are, who are we as an organization? And with
Dart and Scataboo, there you go.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
And they were able to reclaim New York, New York
after Toronto co opted it last night.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
Yeah, joining us now the hot line to break it
all down. No body better NFL on Fox Inside or
Extraordinary Jay Glazer, Jay, what's happening man? Happy Thursday?
Speaker 4 (42:23):
Oh, Happy Dursey to you guys. Wow, what a day?
This is what a you know, what a night for
Giant fans. Obviously they finally you know, have some sort
of direction for a character of a team. You know,
it's instead I've been looking for for an identity and
these two rookies are giving them an identity. It's just
interesting because they've had some horse stun defense, really good
(42:45):
at work stun defense. They've had some players, but it's
not like it's almost like until these two guys got
in and started playing the way they have, where everybody
else started giving a little lextra own for a little
extra moxy, a little lecture of the business if you will,
and man, as long as they can. The only thing
I was looking at. I'm like, man, they gotta they're
gonna get Jackson Dark killed. Yes, like like Dan Quinch
(43:10):
is that it talked last week with Jaman Daniels of Hey,
we need We're not gonna have any limitations on you
with a game, but we want you to limit yourself
if you, you know, are looking at second and six
or you're gonna get beat up for two extra yards.
We're good with second and six. And they're gonna have
to do that with Jackson Dart eventually. Right now, it's
just like, all right, let him continue to build up
(43:31):
this character the team. But man, Ken's cattaboy. He's a stood,
a difference maker, and sometimes it's all you need. You
need one or two guys to change the way things
are viewed from the inside out.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
You know, Jay, when when you look back at this
and you see the Giants and and you know making
this moveing and getting Jackson Dart, there were a lot
of different ways teams could have gone quarterback wise in
the draft. Did teams just miss on Dart? Like what what?
What was it with Dart Sley? Because here he is.
He thought out it, and the Giants like, hey, hey,
now now he's our franchise.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
So going into the draft, they actually had intended to
trade back up in the first round. A lot of
times in the draft they'll go, okay, well, you know
if this guy falls or that guy falls. They actually
went into the draft saying, we're going to take out
Dill Carter at three. If Jackson's Art is still there
around fifteen or twenty, we're going to start calling. And
(44:23):
they started calling maybe Denver were they are twenty or
twenty one, whatever, They started calling about twenty to try
to move up. They finally, you know, they're able to
you know, maybe it was a little bit earlier than that,
but they actually have that game plan going into the draft.
So it's not like people missed. Not a lot of
teams needed quarterbacks and people are kind of all over
the map of these guys. Look, one guy may fit
(44:45):
one culture or team that might not fit another, you know,
but they love the guy. So that was their intention
going in. I know a lot of people go, oh,
they're gonna have shidor Sanders. It was always Jackson Dart
And it was interesting a couple of weeks ago when
they put them in against the Chargers. I'm like, are
you going against wife and them and now against the
Charges instead? Next week against Saints? And I was told
by people whom giants, you want to do that with him.
(45:08):
He wants to be challenged. You want to challenge him
because you're gonna get the best for him. That's he
going to see. And that man that says an awful
lot about that about him, you know. And you know,
they kind of compared it to to Herbert when Herbert
first went in, and Herbert's first game was against Chiefs
in like twenty seconds right when when Tyrod Taylor got
(45:30):
the injection that ended up punks in his law and
they're like, man, this guy just never looked back. And
they thought the same thing with Jackson Dart of hey
put him in against the most adverse conditions that we said,
we're going to the best out of them, and they did.
And the two games that you know he had, let's
see an uphill battle in Phenomenal, the game where they
(45:51):
played the same almost played down.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
Yeah, curious and the way that flows all right for
camp scattaboy, he's got to stop doing those cell because
that's a hamstring waiting to happen. But we all need
to find someone who loves us like Brian Dabele did.
When Jackson Dart went into the tent, we watched him intently.
Speaker 4 (46:08):
Jay.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
He needed every update possible as to his young quarterback.
So we need that in our lives.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
Yeah no, But again, I think these two guys, their relationship,
you can see it. It's like they're injecting this young
life from that team that's they needed. And if you
look now, you look at some of the people they
have on that team. Defensively, they've got a great front, right,
they got good live marks. They need some help in
the secondary, but man, they really have some good talent
(46:37):
over there. They actually have talent on offensive line, they
just haven't been able to ever stay healthy. They find
a tight end and Theo Johnson, who is I've spent
some collins Field and he is man. He's second guy
from nineteen ninety three. He's not like a young player.
He's a throwback kind of guy. So all of a sudden,
they're finding these guys, and I think if Jackson and
(46:58):
Cam schattab who can in you to rub Off and
everybody else, You'll start to see the natural talent of
other people in that locker room start to come out.
Speaker 1 (47:08):
Jay Glazer with us, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios Flip side of it now, Jay,
I don't think a lot of people saw this coming
for the Eagles. You thought, Okay, here's a get right
week for them after blowing the lead to the to
the Broncos on Sunday. What's the level of problems the
Eagles have right now?
Speaker 4 (47:26):
Jay?
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Is it something that hey, we can get in there,
we can fix this, or hey, is it getting bigger
and bigger as a season goes on.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
I think every time of the Eagles is big. You know,
they have a bunch of huge personalities and you know,
obviously you see a class and this and that. I
think that's why Nick r. Rowne is an underrated coach
because he got a bunch of crazies in there and
he actually chieps them together, right, a phenomenal job with that.
They got big personalities over there and they keep it together.
But when there things aren't going really well, that's when
(47:55):
you see, you know, the sky's falling and you start
to see issue and hits, your personal problems. And one
that I think right now, you know they got to say, hey,
right now when we need to keep it together. I
don't know if the table of that you got to see,
that's what they need right now. They need to say
this when we have to keep it together. But to
even go back to the first week of the season,
the CD Land doesn't drop a bunch of passes, you know,
(48:17):
Eagles and then the Rams also if they're if they're
kicking game to do anything, that's two potential losses right there.
But I think that the Eagles maybe falling. They could
be falling the same track of a lot of teams
over the years. All right, whatever they want to shoot ball,
(48:37):
it's so hard to repeat because people in that locker room, coaches,
the players, everybody, so, oh, I'm the reason, I'm the reason.
We wont I'm the reason, and it's so hard to
repeat become that it's like you're you know. I've heard
fighters always say, man, it's it's hard to fight for
a title when your belly's full, really, when you're hungry,
(48:58):
you know, And to say thing here, Ben, you have
a everybody's kind of came in with their belly. Fol
they're almost expecting to walk through people again. And now
they've had adversity and the fracture instead of the fractor
with the university. This what you gotta do. You gotta
come together. Adversity is a gift if he's used the
right way.
Speaker 3 (49:19):
Jay, we saw a couple of moves in the NFL
this week. We got the Flacco trade and then we
saw Newsom get delta Jacksonville. Is this the beginning of
a landslide of a bunch of moves here beheaded the deadline?
Speaker 4 (49:31):
I don't know. Landslide. If you will, I think you'll.
I think teams a gonna get very aggressive because of
what the Eagles have done. The Eagles went out and
made a bunch of training one on. I think that,
you know, it's become more and more like that in
the last couple of years, where it used to be
team didn't want to part ways with traft capital, and
(49:53):
I think they're more willing to now because the landscape
of college kids is totally different. You know, these college
kids now they can move anywhere because the transfer portal,
you can't really ask them anything anymore in your interviews.
You don't know as much I've been. There's more questions now.
You have a lot more kids who don't love football
then you did in the past. Again I talked about
(50:17):
Billy full. A lot more kids who are not as
hungry because they've already been paid, and I think the
draft capital isn't as valuable. Listen, I'm sure people hear
to go are you crazy? But no, I think teams
now looking okay if I can get a sure thing,
as opposed to there are more questions. But kids that
(50:37):
are coming out and now there ever have been. I
think teams are a little bit more willing to try
and swing, swing away and work trades.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
Yeah, you keep saying, Billy full, Jay, maybe you want
to order pizza I'm hung.
Speaker 4 (50:51):
Hey, life is great when you're billy folks. You've got
a title part of repeat, it's part to repeat. It's
hard to repeat. I think I did Mike titles Will.
I heard that from It was greatly okay.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
Yeah, hey, speaking of motivation, you got a bit on Twitter,
big mental health motivation about being your own hero.
Speaker 4 (51:10):
To tell us about that, Yeah, yeah, look, it's it's
something obviously. You know, we did a mental health podcast
mental will podcast here in Fox Sports Radio, and iHeart
and I want to continue it, not just because Friday
is World Mental Health Day, but it's something I learned
in Thailand. I joke around saying, yeah, I met with
(51:30):
this time monk to help me because I went through
all the therapists in America, So how to go to Thailand?
Speaker 1 (51:36):
That was your second choice?
Speaker 4 (51:37):
Okay, you know you got no A couple of years
ago one of this like my body spirituary and man
this this this time Monk asked me to describe myself
and guys that way. I describe myself as really nobody
should ever talk about themselves that way. But by depressing
anxiety told me that I'm worthless and I'm a piece
of garbage. And all these things. I'm a terrible person.
(51:57):
And he said, James, the just instead of talking about yourself,
because I just took so much pressure myself. Guys, and
I do one little thing. I just I live. There's
a lot of shame when you deal with these mental
health issues. So he said, instead of talking about yourself
that way, why don't you describe yourself as your own hero?
I said, your own hero? He don't want you to
be your own heroes. What are you talking about? It's
(52:19):
all right, Well, Jay, have you would you say you've
overcome a lot in your life? I said absolutely? Say
would you say you've endored a lot? I said, sure
out yep, I laughed at it. He said, would you
say you've achieved a lot? I said absolutely, mister monk,
no doubt. They said, okay, well some guy came into
your life and got you to overcome all this, endure
(52:41):
all that, and achieve all this. Wouldn't that guy be
your hero? I said yeah, absolutely. He said, Hey, that's you.
You're the one who did it. You just can't see it,
but that's you. So that guy you wanted to call
on your own hero? You are your own hero, and man,
it smacked me across the eyes. And there's a lot
of us who beat up on ourselves. A lot of
(53:02):
us put so much press on ourselves, a lot of
us but just don't give ourselves grace. And that one
little shift from him telling me that got me to
be able to lay my head on my pillow at
night more often than I ever did, being able to
give myself some grace and plug myself up a little bit.
So I wanted to just pass it on to everybody else,
(53:23):
And it's every single one of us kind of hero
inside of us.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
It's an awesome story. You can see it on Jay's
Twitter page right there at the top, right there, mental
health motivation. Be your own hero. And I'm gonna go
get mister Monk's information from you so when I go there,
I can talk to him.
Speaker 4 (53:41):
No doubt. Man, it's oh Man. Thailand is my dam baby,
It's my damn. I train Moy Thai in the jungle.
I do breath burk meditation. My wife comes to me,
she's crying, and motivate in breath work. It's amazing.
Speaker 1 (53:53):
Keep up the good fight, buddy. We'll talk to you
next week. Thanks so much.
Speaker 4 (53:56):
As Hey, Hey, I think the Eagles may need my
time on Yeah, yeah, you know, fly that monk in
for them.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
See what happened? Lessons learned? There you go? Ah, thanks Jay,
There goes Jay Glazer crested great stuff as always. You know,
you think about his point about the Eagles locker room.
You have a lot of alphas, you have a lot
of big personalities, and when you have that, it's a
little more difficult to figure out when you think about
compare it to the team like the Giants, where it's like, hey,
(54:23):
these new personalities can rub off on everybody, right with
Dart and Scataboo, Hey they're new, they're here. Dable has
been able to go from the old era of the
Giants to the new one that looks like he's probably
gonna keep his job. I would say, right now, looks me.
But when you get to the point where the players
become so much of the story, and so much of
(54:44):
the story every week is here's Jalen Hurts and how
what is his relationship like with his wide receivers and
his wide receivers, how happy are they? And when that
when when the when the person has what's happening? When
that becomes an overwhelming story that does become a really
difficult thing to get past because you're fighting past that
before you even get on the field for practice or
(55:04):
a game. Well, no, but that's it, right. It's the
different stages of team building and where you're at in
your time continuing. For guys like Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown,
et cetera, they've got the team accomplishment, you've got a
title that's in the back pocket, and now people start
doing you hear the outside noise might be within your
inner circle, might be your family might just be loud
mouths like us of trying to rank guys.
Speaker 3 (55:26):
Right, where's Jalen Hurts? Well, there was a lot of
noise of whether he's that guy or was he carried AJ?
Speaker 1 (55:32):
Brown? Is he easy the true alpha receiver? Is he
again part of this other machine and he gets helped
out all of that. So you want to be you
want to prove that you are that guy. Whereas with
the young kids, they don't. It's like Roki Sasaki coming
in for the Dodgers. Now he don't know what he don't.
Speaker 3 (55:50):
Know at this point three, he's still coming in it
like all right, go get it. For these guys, it's
it's still establishing a winning culture and for Brian Dable
had to save his job.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
And again, Jay Glazer, this is the only show you're
gonna get. Jayls the only show he comes on. He
talks to us every week. If you missed it, check
it out on our best of podcast gets posted wherever
you get your podcast from. Right after the show is over.
You know you should get a little bit more of
it later on in the show. But again, only here
Jay Glazer with us on Fox Sports Radio time out
(56:21):
to find out what's trending in the wide world of sports.
With someone who's been called the A J. Brown of
Fox Sports Radio. You'll walk by and see her reading
a book once in a while. It's Monty below.
Speaker 9 (56:31):
That's not true. I don't read. That's not true.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
Last book you read?
Speaker 8 (56:37):
Actually, I just read Eleven Rings, Phil Jackson book. I'm
late to the game, but I just read it. I
really liked it thoroughly. I know, I know, but I
really I don't read a lot like I wish I
did do put more of my spare time into reading.
But I tend to like start a book and then
I don't finish it. No, I'm that person. But I
(56:58):
did finish, and I really but it's just, you know,
that was more of a like I wanted just to
know more details of that time, because you know, I
was so young, and so I wanted to like remember
what I or add to what I remembered of that time.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
You listen to Grande's Seven Rings in the background.
Speaker 9 (57:14):
I did not.
Speaker 8 (57:15):
I did not, but I do like seven Rings. That
is on my playlist. Nicely done. We'll start with the
baseball game, still going on Game four of the NLDS
and it's all Cubs so far. Kyle Tucker and Carson
Kelly both homered in the seventh inning. I think they
were reviewing the Carson Kelly home run and maybe they
took it down, But right now it looks like the
Cubs are up five zero against the Brewers. It is
(57:38):
the bottom of the seventh inning and if the Cubs win,
they'll fail there.
Speaker 9 (57:42):
They will force a Game five.
Speaker 8 (57:43):
Winner of this series is going to face the Dodgers
in the Championship Series.
Speaker 9 (57:48):
They survived, I'm not gonna say walk that off.
Speaker 8 (57:51):
They survived on an error from Philly's pitcher Ryan Kirkering
in the eleventh inning to advance to the Championship Series.
With the bases loaded, Andy pah Has hit a ball
right back to Kirkering. He mishandled it. Instead of throwing
it to first base, he overthrew the ball to home.
Hasan Kim scored the winning run. With the winning run,
it was the first postseason series in history to end
on a walk off error. Then to one was the
(58:16):
final score in eleven innings. When it comes to the NFL,
the Giants defeated the Eagles thirty four to seventeen to
kick off Week six. Jackson Dart threw for one hundred
and ninety five yards and a touchdown. He also had
thirteen carries for fifty eight yards and a touchdown. Cam
Skataboo with a hat trick nineteen carries for ninety eight
yards and three touchdowns. It was a rough second half
(58:36):
for the Eagles, as Philadelphia was shut out Jalen Hurts
through an interception, Agent aj Dillon lost to fumble.
Speaker 9 (58:43):
Just a bad second half in Philadelphia.
Speaker 8 (58:44):
Hurts ended twenty four of thirty three two hundred and
eighty three yards, a touchdown, and an interception on the ice.
Speaker 9 (58:50):
Couple games still going on.
Speaker 8 (58:52):
Avalanche over Mammoth two to one late in the third period,
down to the final three minutes. Connects over Flames one
zero halfway through the second period. Late in the second period,
the Golden Knights and the Sharks are tied up to
a piece and the Kraken are edging the Ducks two
to one, also late in the second period.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Back to you guys, thank you very much. Yes, the
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon Lott and the Fox
Sports Radio studios coming up. We have to ask a
couple of big questions about what we saw at the
end of the Dodgers Phillies game. All the drama, the
walk off error that we're still talking about. That's next
right here. It's a full service Thursday Jason
