Happy Opening night in the NBA. An absolute thriller Early
Thunderbeat the Rockets one twenty five four. If you were
looking for the Warriors Lakers, you didn't get to see
the first cord unless you had streaming. Uh, but the

(01:12):
Warriors able to hold off the Lakers one nineteen one
oh nine is by the forty point night from Luca
donsis joining us now on the hotline, ready for another
big season with us. You hear a round Ball Rock.
NBA is back on NBC, back with us another year.
Fox Sports won. NBA insider Rick Buker, Rick, what's happening man?

(01:35):
Happy opening night?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I missed you guys.
Did you have a good summer?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Uh? Yeah, hey, every everything was great except the Mets
stunt so they failed. The Jets are worse, but the
Knicks are going to the finals.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
So I'm okay, okay, So it's same old, same old.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah. Yeah, and you've got rien Joe Flacco now, so
I mean it's all good.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Oh boy. Yeah, the I'm I'm with Mike, Mike Tomlin,
like I don't know how or why, but thank you
very much.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So were you filled with all the nostalgia tonight with
Round Ball Rock and NBA and NBC back to the
nineties and all great things were back then.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
So so so you know the thing is.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Is that watching this right, we talked about it really
quick here, you know, before we got to you, is
that there was no place to see the first quarter
of the Lakers Warriors game, right normally what like ESPN
has it or TNT hey listen, TBS has the first
quarter of this game. ESPN two as the first quarter
of this game. But like NBA fans gonna get have
to get used to a really new reality here, and
that's you got to spend a lot of money if

(02:54):
you want all these games, and not every game is
going to go double overtime, but if you want to
make sure you see all the games, you got to
have streaming because it's not like, hey, we're gonna be
able to put these on another cable channel for you.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, no, no, no, there's no question. I mean when they
when they said you can you can find the show
on peacock. How many people how many people out there
with be what like you who? Yeah, yeah, it's it's uh,
it's going to be a challenge. But I you know,
we and we talked about this a little bit, and

(03:26):
I don't want to go down this this rabbit hole.
But honestly, the uh, the NBA feels like it has
uh it is maxed out, maxed out the domestic market.
And so the reason like I'm sure over in Europe
they have as easy access to Peacock as we do
over here, and that is where they're looking is uh

(03:50):
is to be able to access the rest of the globe.
It's why Amazon knocked out T and T for for
the broadcast rights and why you know NBC is going
to be utilizing Peacock because the whole idea is if
you can get to streaming, streaming can be globally accessed

(04:10):
more so than network TV. And so that's that's what's
behind all of this. And yeah, they may lose some
money on the front end in the national market maybe,
but they feel like they're going to make it on
the back end with the global.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Market, especially when Game one features international superstar Shake Gildas
Alexander doing what he does best, Rick getting to the
fall line in the final seconds of a game to
ice things.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yep, go well and just hit and hitting the mid range.
You know, it's funny. I thought, OKAC is going to
be even better this year because once you've won a championship,
once you've gone through the cauldron that is winning a championship.
I mean, Shay like he had a three. He's hitting
the mid range like These are all pressure packed, game

(04:56):
deciding shots. But after you've had to make those shots
in the finals and all along the way to get
to the finals, hitting them in a regular season game
is like, yeah, I got this. And so that's what
I saw with Shay and with with the Thunder in general,
is that they've been in such big moments and it's

(05:18):
where Houston quite honestly collectively, you know, that's that's going
to be the learning curve for them. They're going to
have games like this. They showed, you know, man for
man talent talent wise, they are right there with uh,
with Oklahoma City and I think for any team in
the in the league right now. But the challenge is
going to be can they execute under pressure? And you know,

(05:42):
the broadcast crew kind of walked around this, but for all,
Kevin Durant had one shot where off balance makes it
it's a three point play. But there were plenty of
Kevin Durant hiccups with the game on the line and
pressure situations, and it's not like Oklahoma City hasn't seen

(06:03):
some of that before. So that to me is going
to be the big question with the Houston Rockets and
their belief that Kevin Durant is going to be that
go to guy in the clutch? Is can Kevin Durant
really be that guy? And my number one thing is
I want him shooting those shots. No, no, no question.
I don't want him catching the ball at the top

(06:24):
of the key and having to dribble his way into them.
The Warriors got around that. It was like, we're gonna
get you the ball in spots where you only have
to take two dribbles to get either to the baseline
to the rim or sidestep and little mid range jumper.
And so I think ultimately, if Houston is going to

(06:44):
be effective, they're going to have to operate the same
way with KB, you know.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
And the whole time, you know, you get to the
end of the game and I'm watching it, I'm saying, Katie,
don't jump in the air. You got SGA. You got SGA.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
He's not.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
He's getting a mad shot. Nope, Nope, leaps in the air.
SGA does what he does, and I go, Wow, that's
another Kevin Durant mistake that I mean, Look, we talk
about the offensive part of it, but why you I mean,
he's been in the league, he knows he can't make
that play and he still makes vowels out me again.
He should have just walked right to the locker room
after going guy's my fault. I'm sorry, I blew this
game for us. I gotta go.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Well, there was that, and then there was a time
out that wasn't called that he tried to call that
could have if I'm not mistaken, that happened at the
end of regulation if the ref see it for Albert
seng Gun like Greb. And here's the thing, Albert Sangun
is running over to stop KD from calling a time
out that they did not have. It should be the

(07:35):
other way around. And so, I mean, honestly like KD
is a mentally talented player, he's an all time great,
but this idea that he's a cold blooded killer and
he's your guy in the clutch, there's a plenty of
evidence out there that that reputation is a little shaky.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
In the nightcap we got once we finally got it nationwide,
Peacock currently on in the studio, we watched the older
Warriors getting after it with these slim down Luca Dancis,
who was running around like one of my favorite wrestlers
from the eighties and nineties, the One Man Gang.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah yeah, yeah uh. And by the way, you guys
got Peacock in the studio, right uh huh you got
it there right right. You're not paying for it, all right?

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Well, no, I paid for mine. I had it on
my computer.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Let's not come they.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Get my money.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Okay, okay, I got.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Two kids that demand every streaming service, Rick, Oh, trust.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Me, trust me. At least your kids are probably under
your own roof. My kids are mineor elsewhere and loading
up on this stuff like I'm getting these subscriptions and
like hey, well what what wait what anyway.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, they gave me the ass for brit Box the
other day, like what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I yeah, Look, the this this is going to be
the problem for the Lakers is that they don't have
the roster around Luka Dootcis to take advantage of what
Luka Doncis can do. I think there's going to be
a lot of Knights like this and the uh, you
know the Eastern Island statue that was Lebron James on

(09:25):
the bench. That was an interesting book the entire game.
In any case, he is not He's not going to
be the answer to what they need. Look, you need
three things around Lukadotcis for him to be effective. And
it took Dallas a couple of years before they finally
got the right roster around him to play for a championship.

(09:45):
You gotta get gotta have defense, you gotta have athleticism, uh,
and you have to have shooting. And when you look
at that roster, the Lakers roster, I don't see a
whole lot of any of those things. There are guys
who can provide one of the three at various time times,
but nobody who can give you the combination. And so

(10:05):
I as as encouraging as it is to see Luca
in better shape, I don't know that it bodes well
for the Lakers or was going to make a difference,
because that roster is not the kind of roster that
he needs to be successful. Now.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
You know, we talked about this a few minutes ago
that that you know, a lot of the are some
of the same names, But wow, they just looked like
they were invisible tonight, and it looked like the Lakers
like four years ago, where it was Okay, we're you know,
we're starting over again. We're seeing what works that's kind
of what it looked like. And I was stunned that
that's what it looked like tonight for them.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Where'd you guys go?

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Cut out there for a second.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
It was just seeing the Lakers, seeing the Lakers the
way the you know, the rest of their supporting cast. Tonight.
It was like we went back in time four or
five years a way, throwing some guys together to see
how it works. And they just have a bunch of
guys and we all have guys that have made you know,
Hachamora has been a guy that's done things, Vincent's done things,
Marcus Swart's done things, and they were just invisible.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Yeah. Well, I mean, look as much as we've downplay
what the preseason means and the exhibition games mean and
training camp means, the reality is that Luca didn't participate
in the start of it and a number of games,
and you are trying to incorporate a number of new pieces,

(11:32):
and you're doing all of it without Lebron James in
the mix. And even though they were shifting toward Luca
last year to take Lebron James out of that equation,
it's still a big puzzle piece and they just haven't
spent a whole lot of time together doing that. And
I'll go back to this too, Like the group that
you need to take advantage of what Luca does, this

(11:56):
group just doesn't have it. I mean, he leaned on
Rui Hachimura more than anybody else. And then and then
the other part is just defensively, it's really hard to
manufacture points at the speed that they would need to
and the efficiency that they would need to without Luca.

(12:18):
You know, Luca's not going You're not going to score
fast with Luca. Luca's going to get to his spots
and He's inevitably going to give you a lot of
buckets and set you up for a lot of shots
open shots. But it's going to take you time to
create all that. And at the other end, they simply
couldn't do anything with a Warriors team that I'm not

(12:39):
so sure is as good and dialed up as they
looked tonight. I think it was a lot more to
do with the Lakers defensive breakdowns than the Warriors being
this offensive machine. And I think we will see that.
I'm going to be at their their home opener on Thursday,

(12:59):
the exactly where the Warriors really are Thursday night. But
this Lakers team, I kind of suspected that this is
what we were going to see for them from them.
And yes, it's the opener, and it's game one, and
Lebron's not there, and you have new pieces, but I honestly,
when I look at their roster, I don't see this

(13:20):
getting appreciably better, no matter what Luka Dacic does or
how much time they get together to create better chemistry.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
And as one insider extraordinary Rick Buker, who has said
for Night two of Opening Night tomorrow Marquee game, calves Nicks.
I went Knicks by thirty thirty five? What do you
think tomorrow? Rick?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
We got to work things out with Karl Anthony Towns First.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah, hey, what what Rick?

Speaker 3 (13:47):
I mean?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I haven't met with any of the coaches all sas
off season.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
But here's here's my question. Is Mike Brown going to
last longer with the Knicks than he did with the Lakers.
That's the question. That's the question that I have.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
And here's where I solve all the problems. The Knicks
are going to be here you go, here's the name.
The Knicks are going to be great. And if they're
not at the deadline. They're getting Yannis and they'll be great.
So it's win win for me, Rick, it's it's a
win win for them.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
You're already at the trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Rick, Rick.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
I mean he's dealing with an Owen seven Jets. Team
Syracuse look good until their quarterback got run off and
injured for the year. So like he's he's clinging to
whatever he can find. Right now, boy, I'll.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Tell you what. We're just going to fast forward to
the trade deadline and get you on man. Man, that's
that is. That is some serious coping right there.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Did you expect anything less on Opening night? Come on, Rick,
got to bring our a game on Opening night?

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Really, No, didn't expect well, maybe a little more like
maybe you know what gift.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
He's on Twitter at Rick Bieker, that's at Rick Bieker.
Rick is always buddy, appreciate it. We'll talk to you
next week.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
My pleasure guy. It's good to be back.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Happy New year, buddy. You're hurdy a good that I
did say we're gonna be great.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
But if not, no, you know, in the deadline you
get cat it out. Let's say we're gonna be great.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yeah, We're we're gonna be great, and then you sluffed
it off like a rock on the the yard and
shawsh ak.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
But if we're not more NBA on the way but
straight ahead. Not one, but two huge stories out of
the NFL are the Cowboys on the cusp of making
a huge trade and what team's owner embarrassed everything surrounding
the team today with what he said.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
That's next.

Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my bas friend
Mike Harmon. Eat that tiny bit of ass up now,
double barrel. A big NFL story is coming your way first,
this one today that now that it got out, it
has to happen. It absolutely because it makes too much sense. Okay,
everybody wins. Okay. Reports that the you know, the trade

(18:23):
deadline is getting closer in the NFL, and everybody is
saying it's gonna be a great trade deadline. Everybody's telling
us there's all kinds of movement at which means like
no one's gonna get you.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Well, we've already seen some chaos though that has been
a little bit of case.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Not on lot. We're expecting a lot. We're expecting a
lot of players who want to move and maybe Max
Crosby is one of those guys. Now, the Raiders clearly
in another season where they're they're useless and uh. According
to reports, the Cowboys called the Raiders about Max Crosby,
one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. And

(18:58):
when this story came out today and I said, Okay,
now it's got out, this has to happen. Number one,
It's the best thing for the Cowboys. It's the best
thing for Jerry Jones, the best thing for Max Crosby.
The Raiders, it doesn't matter they're terrible, Uh, for the
Cowboys getting Max Crosby. He is a plug and play guy.

(19:18):
Put him in, Go get the quarterback. See the quarterback
at the quarterback like, that's Max Crosby. See he's still
playing at such a high level. Even make it's a
big play in a thirty one to nothing beat down
by the Chiefs, he still found a way to make
it really matter. Right if the Cowboys went out to
get him. Number one, the message that sends to the
team where the offense has been absolutely incredible, even better

(19:40):
than I thought it was. I told you the beginning
of the season, this is gonna be a great offense.
Watch out. They're gonna score a lot of points. Just
don't get involved in a shootout with them. But this
offense is even better whether Ceedee Lamb is playing or not.
Dak Prescott's a high level. They're running the football. Ferguson's
a great tight end, like once again because he was
great with Dak two years ago. It's a great message
to say, hey, why not us? And this would vault

(20:03):
them up the food chain in the NFC because suddenly
you have a guy that can get after the quarterback.
And I guess again, you don't have to go back
to the old joke. Well if only they had a guy.
Oh they did, and they traded him too the Packers.
That's happened, right, so that that's gone. This sends a
great message to the Cowboys that I believe in this team.
For you, Jerry Jones, I believe in this team. And
it's a big jolt of energy because right now they're

(20:23):
sitting around five hundred still anybody's a lot of teams
are still in it in the NFC this year right, Cowboys,
the way they can score, Hey, they can play big
with anybody. You go get a guy that get the
quarterback like that. It sends a great message to the Cowboys,
and it buys Jerry Jones so much goodwill both with
his team, with the coaching staff, with the fan base,

(20:44):
because everybody still pissed it him for trading Micah Parsons
when he didn't have to, and all of a sudden,
we got to stop the run. Now you go get
Max Crosby. You still wind up keeping many of those
picks you got for Micah Parsons before. They're not great
draft picks, but you can replenish because you need to
replenish this roster a little bit more. You buy all
that goodwill, and everybody gets away from hating you now

(21:06):
because the team loves you. You went out and got
a guy. Hey, you believe in the team. You went
out and got a great pass rusher. The fan loves
you because, hey, you went out and got a guy
you believe in this team. Awesome, the media, everybody wins.
That's why this absolutely has to And again the Raider
doesn't matter. They stink, But this is why this has
to happen. It, not only because it makes too much sense,

(21:27):
but now if Jerry Jones doesn't pull this off, it's
another way for the fans and the team to go.
Oh see, now when he has a chance to go
get somebody. We have the money, we have the draft picks,
we could go get Max Crosby. Now we're not gonna
go do it. Oh and now we're not. So the
payoff for him not to do it is things just
get worse.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
What is curious about this is how I watched this
started to swell and immediately you've got you know, an
NFL insider after insider chiming in with what they've heard,
what they know whatever. Pelisaro Raiders met with Max Crosby
today to let him know they're not shopping him and
won't trade him. Okay, that was to him and Jane Sledder.

(22:06):
That's today. No, that's you know what I mean, that's
that's that's the fun of this is like we've this
is the opening selvo.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
That's when you know the dolores umbradge from from Harry
Potter five, when when Dumbledore says you can fire my teachers,
but you can't banish them from the grounds. That that lies.
Decision lies solely with the headmaster, and Numbridge goes for now, right,
and that's like, yeah, we're not trading him for now,
MLDA staunting for the wind.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Jane Slater then followed up with someone doing the here's
a bucket of water that I'm splashing on you to
put some water on this thing and and snuff it out,
saying the sources told her then picked up the phone.
But there was something discussed, you know, in Las Vegas.
So at this point beyond the we're not trading Max okay, fine,

(22:54):
Jacoby Myers is over there holding up a sign saying please,
couldn't trade for me?

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Let me out of here. So that's got a funny
he said, I want to get traded. You still want
to get traded? Oh hell yeah, get me out. He's
got Geno throwing hospital balls. But all of that to say,
it would make sense in a million levels, one fewer
year on the contract extension than what you had with Parsons.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Crosby would be under contract through twenty nine. Curious on
the compensation of what you would need to come up
with trade wise, but certainly you should kick the tires
on it, you know. In the NFC. We got some
good teams. Who's great right in the NFL as a whole. Yeah,
there's some teams you're like, all right, it's breaking this
way and they're going to be a problem. Right. We
talked about Indianapolis a bunch last night. People can go

(23:39):
and find the podcast wherever you get that downloaded, Send
it to your friends and family, evangelized it's a holiday season,
get them on board. But it's it's just that idea
that you can go and be bold. And there might
be other pass rushers that are out there, but Crosby
is the name. If we're talking Cowboys star recognition. See
what I did that star and star recognition, that you

(24:01):
go and get a guy whose motor is still going
when they're down thirty one to nothing.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yeah, and he's not. They're not just getting a really
good player. They're getting someone who's gonna give that defense
identity and he's going to be a presence, and he's
gonna be a personality and he's going to be a
larger than life person on that team because that's kind
of what Max Crosby is. So it's not just we're
getting a good player, we're getting someone who's gonna comit in,
that's gonna be our defensive identity is Max Crosby. The
guy you got to stop is Max Crosby. He's gonna talk,

(24:27):
he's gonna be a motor's gonna go, He's gonna do
all of those things. That's why it's even bigger to
get a guy like that than it is just to
get a really good player to come in.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
No, it'd be a fun, fun moveing for Jerry Jones.
You talk about the equity and what he gets with
the fan base, and that's where these kind of rumors
start to become dangerous, right for owners, because you're not
sure where they're generating from other than Hey, the Raiders
say they're not training him. Now eventually they're having a

(24:56):
fire sale. Oh set, because I mean, you don't have
a lot of great teams, but certainly have a couple
of bottom feeders that we've pretty easily identify.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Hey, you said bottom feeders. That gets us to what
happened today with the Jets now oh and seven, worst
team in the NFL. We've talked about the absolute train
wreck they are, right, and why you know, being a
Jets fan, it's harder being a Jets fan than any
other team in any sport. Right, what I go through,
I know I go through worse stuff than everybody else. Right,

(25:24):
I'm not wearing that as a badge. I just don't
know why I do it. You're as bad as that kid.
We saw the video. Oh the poor kid is Do
you think that's a real video?

Speaker 6 (25:32):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Ai, No, I think that's a real kid.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
All right. I hate this team.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
I hate them as born into it. So they're mine, friend,
I hate them.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Friends that I haven't talked to in like a couple
of years were sending me that today. Hey, I thought
about you when I saw this kid.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
I said to you as we were finishing the show
last night, like, here's this kid. He's going to become
a big deal. And sure enough, I mean he was
just the opening act the day became so at the owners.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Meetings today, what he Johnson Jets owner talked about how
much confidence he has in Aaron Glenn. Great, the guy
is completely not ready to be a head coach. It's
too much for him. But now I got to wait
out Aaron Glenn. Okay, But then he goes out and
says something that I've never heard an owner say about
one of his players ever, in which the situation that
exists with quarterback Justin Fields as the Jets made the

(26:21):
decision or according to sources, Jets made the decision sight
They're going to go to Rod Taylor and Justin Field
is going to be the backup quarterback now because Justin
Field has been terrible. Here's Woody Johnson talking about Justin
Fields and how, hey, if we could just do the
simple things, maybe our quarterback position would be good.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
It looks like he's turning around parts of it.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
You know, it's hard when you have a quarterback with
you know, with a rating that they got you know
is I mean, he has the ability, but something just
is not driving.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
But if you look at any any.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Head coach of the quarterback like that, you're going to
see similar results if you across the league.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
You have to play consistent.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
League with that position, and that's what we're going to
try to do.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
But you can just complete a pass, it would look good.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
You got to complete some pot. You got to convince
him that you can do something. And if they had
an owner with half a brain, yeah, it's the worst
owner in the NFL. He's making fun of the quarterback yeah,
well he's completing sixty of his passes. Dude, game recognized game,
worst owner, worst quarterback, Game recognized game. Man, they're going there,
they're equal footing right there. The quarterback might be better

(27:26):
than the owner. Ooh wow, that's a tough one. That's
a tough Hey, he's got four touchdowns. How many picks
is he throw?

Speaker 2 (27:32):
What? How many picks is he throw? Zero?

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Dude, we can't score. He's taking care of the football.
Man can't play when a quarterback has a rating like that.
If we could just complete a pass, that would be okay.
I've never seen, even at his worst, Jerry Jones never
said that about Micah Parson saving all his victory all
for his agent. You know, for this season. He's got
a ninety one as a quarterback, justin Philip. But the

(27:56):
Jets can't score. The offense is awful. And here he
is basically saying, yeah, our quarterback is bad. If we
can't complete a pass, If we could just complete a pass,
this is something and this is why. Hey, it's really
tough being a Jets fan. Like I said, nobody else
has it as tough as I do. When I was
your age, us to walk up the way, you know,
both ways uphill to fin through the snow, the fields,

(28:18):
and dodging demic gorgans. What he Johnson said today was needed,
was embarrassing, was harsh, was necessary, was unnecessary. It was
all of these things. Everybody knows justin Field's bed. It's
great that he said this to take ownership of it,
but boy, it just embarrasses the Jets all over again.

(28:38):
Nothing the Jets do is right. Any decision they make
is wrong, and this is one of Like I said,
it's needed that he said this, but that he really
need to say it. No, he didn't. It's embarrassing, but
the truth needs to be told. It's all of these things.
It ain't easy being a Jets fan. Man, it's not
easy being on the Jets when here's your owner saying, yeah,
our quarterback is terrible. Now, was he potentially giving his

(28:59):
blessed if you want to make a change of quarterback
to Tarrod Taylor? Yeah, maybe that was it, But wow, man,
I don't know that. If you're justin Field, you can't
play in this team ever. Again, you can't play anymore.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
No, But the bigger thing is, what the hell's the
point of going to Tarrod Taylor. I like Torod Taylor.
He's had a hell of a run. He wants come
to the games.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
He wants people to say that the Jets still have
a chance to win, because even though we're tanking for
a chance to win, right, No, no, we don't, but
he wants them to think they do. Even though we'll
get Sam J. Jones in a Flash Gordon t shirt
out there. He would be terrible. It would It wouldn't
work out. They would, They would if this Flash Gordon
went to the real Jets would be dude, you play
for Yeah? I enough had a bad season, man, That's
why I'm a superhero. Now it's hanging out again.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
I can't Hey, you know, for the season, Justin Fields
quarterback Ranning of ninety one point one ties in with c. J.
Stroud Well and Joe Burrow before he get hurt. That's
also how many yards he's thrown for or he's gotten
nighted and what ninety two or whatever the last two
weeks go Jets. Yeah, he's ahead of Jackson, Dark Carson
and wents Kyler, Murray, Spencer Rattler, Bo Nicks. Everybody's all American.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Would you rather have any of those guys or Justin Fields.
You'd rather have any of those guys, many of those guys.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Now, is it for my team or is it for
watching you? For your team?

Speaker 1 (30:17):
You'd rather for my guys.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Michael Pennix is down there at eighty five point two.
Tua that guy, he's down there, hand j Reel, Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
If the Jets traded Aaron Glenn and Justin Fields from
Mike McDaniel and Tua, I would do That's how bad
it is. I would do that trade. That's how bad
things are. I would do that trade because I don't
want Mike McDaniel or too. I don't want either of them,
but I'd take both of them.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
One of those Capri pants up in the New York
and you gotta do a shoey out of his air
Force one.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. From Special Delivery, Steve de Saga. Steve, So,
what you're saying is it's not easy being Green It No,
it's not New Jets. It is the worst team to
have to root for. And I don't know why, but
I keep coming back. I mean, I'm that guy.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
Yeah, kind of tied by what the Giants and the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah, I know, not even it's easier to be a
Browns fan. It's he should be a Lions.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
Okay, now you've crossed the line, mister.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
It's easier to be a Raiders fan. They've all been
to the playoffs more recently than the Jets have.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
I am looking forward to this matchup this Sunday because
it's the Jets zero to seven at the Bengals three
and four. The Jets are the worst passing team in
the league. One hundred and forty three yards a game
is what they averaged through the air. They only score
eighteen points a game. The Bengals give up thirty points
a game. The Bengals defense allows the most yards in

(31:47):
the AFC. So, on the one hand, you got the
Jets for the season, as I mentioned, one takeaway and
ten turnovers, but the Bengals are the worst rushing team
in the league by far, under seventy yards a game
on the ground.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
As a team, Chase Brown touchdouts.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
That's what it's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
Absolutely, It's like when somebody faces the Dolphin.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Hey, he had one hundred yard game.

Speaker 6 (32:09):
Well, opponent, Hello opponent. Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz will start
again Thursday night at the Chargers. The Jets are expected
to start quarterback to Rod Taylor this weekend instead of
Justin Field. Might be official Wednesday, The Giants waived kicker
Jude Mcatamney after his two myssed extra points last Sunday.
By the way, the one game suspension of Broncos linebacker

(32:30):
Dre Greenlaw was upheld. Eagles veteran defensive end Brandon Graham
officially re signed coming out of retirement. Tampa Bay wide
receiver Mike Evans could return in December from the broken clavicle.
Wide receivers for Washington, Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are
expected to return to full practice this week after each
missed the last game. The Falcons released wide receiver Ray

(32:52):
Ray McLoud he'd been sent home the last week. And
the NFL hopes to add two more international games next year,
according to Sports Business Journal. Already they're due to have
games next season in Australia, in Mexico, and of course England.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Two NBA games on Opening.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Night, so Oklahoma City got its championship rings and then
played a double overtime game Edge in Houston won twenty
five one twenty four. Alpa and Schengun thirty nine points
in the loss for the winners and the game winning
free throws to shay Giljess Alexander, he scored thirty five.
Golden State beat the Lakers in LA one nineteen to
one pH nine. Jimmy Butler was cleared to play after

(33:28):
an ankle injury and had thirty one points Lakers in
the first quarter eight turnovers, and it didn't get much
better after that. The game combined had thirty seven turnovers.
Luka Doncich forty three points, twelve rebounds, nine assists in defeat.
Most NBA teams start on Wednesday. The Angels new manager
is Kurt Suzuki, former catcher from nearby cow State Fullerton.

(33:50):
He had a sixteen year major league career, finished with
the Angels three years ago. The Halos have now had
five full time managers in the last seven years and
haven't won up.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
If you meant to say Albert Poolholes right oh or
twenty hundred, now you meant to say one of those guy.

Speaker 6 (34:04):
You'll be interviewing with somebody else tomorrow. He's still on
the Angel payroll, though by the way best and as
he gets that interview, Angels haven't won a playoff series
since two thousand and nine. That will go down in history.
They had for how many years? Show he Otani and
Mike Trout on the same roster. Trout still has not
won a playoff game in his career, and now the

(34:26):
Halos have had a losing record for ten straight years. Meanwhile,
the Dodgers are in the World Series Friday night at
Toronto on Fox TV. All the games are at eight
pm Eastern Time, Game one Dodgers starting pitcher Blake's now
and then Saturday night it's Game two and Yoshinoba Yamamoto
will start Game two in Toronto. In the NHL, among
the ten games, the late one went to Utah in

(34:48):
overtime over Colorado four to three. LA won in overtime
at Saint Louis two to one. New Jersey's five and
one after a victory at Toronto five to two, and
Florida won at Boston four to three on a late
cool bank to you.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Thank you, Steve.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
Coming up next, we look back at opening night of
the NBA and you're gonna either feel really really old
or really really young. That's next Jason to Mike.
