speaking of the Lakers, I feel like, you know, this
is where I get to a point where I say,
this is where the NBA schedule is just ridiculous, with
the back to back games every other game for the Lakers.
It's well tonight, Luca and Austin Reeves are playing and
that a full contingent.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Oh, but they then they play the next game.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Luca's out, Austin Reeves is out, everybody's out. Dalton Connects
started tonight. Yeah, Bronnie was off the like the first
guy off the bench, and he's already played sixteen minutes
tonight and he's getting minutes in the to start the fourth.
I mean really like, I feel every other game for
the Lakers is now we got all the guys.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Nah, now we're resting everybody. Oh, we got all the guys.
Now arrest everybody.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Tonight eighty two glorious gips. Notice I don't say that.
Notice I don't say that. I talk about the glory
of the two hundred seventy two NFL games you were
halfway through. But I definitely do not celebrate all eighty
two for each NBA team. No, it is dead. You
cannot say that. There is no way you can say no.
Jake Ravia started tonight for them. I like you, he's

(01:54):
doing pretty good off.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah, he has been. He has been. The area is starting.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Connect starts say that Bron's twenty two minutes better than
Rick Brunson. He's better than Oh you're Bronson yeah, just stop, yes, stop,
He's not better than Charles Bronson. I mean, DeAndre Ayton
has twenty one points, clearly not starting these players. The
Lakers have a death wish Tonight TV, but they do
it well when they have their players play on buying

(02:18):
the Lakers seems like they're doing pretty good to night.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, they're okay, Yeah, I mean that's surprising. Is it
really surprised?

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Well, they're playing well. The Blazers are actually off to
a little bit better start than I thought. But it's
surprising the night in which, look, these are your starters.
You're not you're not playing your guys. You're playing this well.
I am, I am surprised that I'd give them the nod.
But I mean, but the whole NBA schedule, the whole
thing is that Okay, really, I mean, we're at the
point where teams just like, we're gonna give these games

(02:47):
away now with the playing rounds, we don't care anymore, right,
And that's the thing what the NBA did with the
playing rounds to try to gain more attention. Can the
playing rounds work?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Playing rounds are awesome? Right? Stop?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Five years ago you could say that man step into
the now justin step into the now. There it is,
there's that new hashtag for the show. Step in now
but the whole. But now teams have gone to we
don't want to be in the play into Yeah, if
we're in the plane, we're in the plan.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Are we healthy? That's all that mattered. We like teams
are gone.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
So with that being a case where we no longer
have to worry about being a top eight team. Now
we're just a top ten team. And if you're a
top ten team, you see teams a top ten or
teams are below five hundred. Yeah, well we'll give this
game away. We promote the health of our players long
term more than we care about winning tonight against Portland.
So yeah, Luca, who played that? That's awesome, right, We

(03:42):
feel really good about what we did. But because we
played the Heat last night and we won, Yeah, we're
gonna sitt all our guys tonight. Translation, we already got
your money. Those of you that were gonna buy tickets
already bought them. The advertiser have already bought what they're
buying for the regular season. The only that matters is
the end game, when we get to the player, because
that's where the national money is dictated and we need

(04:04):
to worry about that for future contract?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
What did I do? Did I? Did I handle this right?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Yah?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah you did good. I'm gonna have you buy money.
Guy in negotiations now appreciate that. Let's settle a WNBA
CBA first. But like, but that's where That's one thing
the NBA has failed to see.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Is it. Oh, at the playing round, we're doing X,
Y and Z. It's great.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Oh, but load management and teams playing back to backs,
this has been something you're not going to win on right.
Teams are not unless you tell, unless they said, well,
we'd like to see teams you know, you know, proved
to me that a guy is sitting. Yeah, they don't
care at twenty five thousand dollars. Fine, if you're sitting somebody.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
They have not.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
The NBA and Adam Silver continues to think they're gonna
make headway in this storyline where team No, if we
don't want to play our guys, we're not gonna play
our guys.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
We're not gonna start Luca tonight. We're not gonna start
Austin reason night, the most exciting backcourt in the NBA.
These guys played thirty eight minutes a piece last night. No, sorry,
they're not gonna play. We're not sorry. They're not gonna
play it all tonight. We're gonna go with a with
a completely backup lineup. It's working because we don't care
about winning that much. And this is where the NBA

(05:09):
they have to realize, Okay, we're not gonna win this
battle against the teams. What can we do about back
to back games? What can we do about this? We
can't because you put this product out there, Eventually teams
are gonna sa we're not buying our tickets. Oh, second
night of back to back? Yeah, maybe we're not gonna
buy tickets for that game. Maybe Normally I would say, oh, hey,
I can get his tickets for the for the Lakers
and the and the and the Blazers. Oh I can

(05:30):
get those tickets. Yeah great, Yeah, but second night of
back to back? Or are the stars gonna play? Or
the good player is gonna play? Yeah, maybe we don't
go to that game. And all of a sudden there's
tickets unsold. Here's the thing, though, they already got you
you know what, because those games are gonna be sold out.
The only people lose it. Are the scalpers. Okay, any
scalpers are people too, Okay. They gotta make a living

(05:51):
as well, okay, right, all right, all right, just so
you know, keep the machine moving. They're the ones standing
next to the people making the big sausage and pepper
hot dogs outside the games, right, they need to be
able to make a living.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Most people license and bottled by the state.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Don't they have a license by which to sell the
alcohol that now come said no, But I care more
about how it smells more than hey, it smells good.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I have no set to smell. It doesn't care to me.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
The other thing is just this is a general rule
for all of you out here, a little public service announcement.
Find someone in your life who loves you and adores
you the way Jason Smith does. Austin Reeves. Austin Reeves, Man,
I'm telling you he's a new Pippin to.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Keep doing that.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Coming's coming back as the third option.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
It's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
So this is just where we get that two people
like walking up and that meme with the guy looking back,
yeah sure, yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
With a guy with his girlfriend and the other girl.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Going nine four game Lakers with the lead despite not
playing any of their players.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Right, but they're winning.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
We have some UIE cards, try to sell them. Now
have to go in the fourth quarter. We have more
basketball on the way. But Cowboys lose tonight in an
epic fail of a game. Right. We broke it down
last hour on the show a couple of times, Jerry
Jones letting it slip in an interview earlier today that
he potentially has already made one trade ahead of the
deadline and we'll know about it tomorrow, because you know,

(07:16):
Jerry Jones cares more about theater than about winning. So
with that being a big backdrop coming into the game tonight,
the Cowboys go out and get boat raced by the
Arizona Cardinals and Jacoby Brissett and guys are running back. Then,
unless you play fantasy, you have no idea who these
guys are. Do the Cowboys have a trade? Do they
have more trades coming? Jerry Jones spoke about these topics

(07:39):
following the game.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Here's Jerry Jones.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I thought we would play better than this. We could
just came out and they had a good game plan.
Cardinals did very disapporning about all I can say about.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Three said that maybe you should consider not making it
right now today so much suns engage your opinion.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Again, I hear he's been your opinions, and you can
rest assured that, at least through my mind, that all
those considerations were there. It was there before this game,
it was there when we started to seasoned about whether
you make a trade or not. But what's got this

(08:25):
on point is tomorrow's or trade deadline. Jennie, we've either
got to or get off the pod tomorrow now again
Number one, Number one.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Jerry Jones now being in his eighties now sounds like
me doing an impression of Jerry Jones more than he ever.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Has my Jerry Jones because it's lower. It is later
in the season.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Came down to you been talking a lot, had a
lot to say doing these interviews. Night's get later. It's
midnight now. Just got to make sure you oh. Kind
of sound like the Smith guy doing impression to me.
It's kind of like that scene in the Harry Potter
movies where her mind he's got to act like Bellatricks
doing an impression of her when she goes to get

(09:09):
her money out of the Gringotts.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Kind of a weird thing.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
So I kind of sound like him doing an impression
to me, I should like to enter my vault, and
I got to tell the goblins that I'm getting into
the vault, and they don't want to let me in
until they realize it's me.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Then then you know the whole thing with voldemorton. They
got the Big and Charlie Weis Lee and the Dragon. Yeah,
how'd we never get a spin off of the Goblin world? Well,
be good? Well you saw what happened to some of
the Goblins at the end of the movie. Well, I
mean they had a good run. Yeah, well, well they
had the money and then they didn't have the money anymore.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Uh so number one, number two job with about five
with the guys, I mean, think about think about this
with with with Cherry Jones, right with with he intimates
have a trade, but I'm not gonna say it until tomorrow,
and maybe I have more trades, maybe I don't. Again,
someone's got to pull the emergency brake and have an intervention.
Someone whose voice resonates, whether it's Dak or Steven, somebody

(10:02):
to say, Jerry, you can't keep treating us like a
reality show.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
It's done.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Someone's got to be strong enough to do that, because
I guarantee you this right, Jerry Jones wouldn't talk about
the trade tonight. How much you want to bet right number?
I opined last hour that maybe the trade he's talking about,
the one he made was the Micah trade two months ago.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
But what if? What if this is the deal?

Speaker 1 (10:24):
And Jerry Jones said, well, I made the deal with
the team, but I said it's contingent upon us winning tonight.
So I can call the GM of that team if
we don't win and say, hey, I know the deal
I agreed to. I want to call it off, kind
of like when you make a bad trade in fantasy
and you can call the commissioner and say, hey, didn't
want to do that deal. I didn't want to make

(10:45):
that trade. Can we can we cancel that trade. I
know it's really not a cool thing, but I don't
want to make that trade anymore. So we lost tonight,
so now I'm not trading for the Hendrickson kid. I'm
not trading for Breese Hall. Whatever it is I really want.
There's to be the wonders if this trade was made
with a contingency that if they win tonight, we're gonna
make the trade. Like Jerry Jones, nothing is off the table, right,

(11:07):
But it's it's just to hear him talk about this,
like the results on the field matter, man, Like what
you see on the field matters, not just can I
keep the attention going for the Cowboys? Can I keep
us top of mind by making a trade? Now when
you want to make a headline. These are decisions that
are tough to explain to people. These are tough decid

(11:28):
that you have to worry about how they resonate in
the locker room with your coaching staff. It's not just
I got us attention, No, but now we have to
deal with the real world fallout of the fact that
you got us attention, which is, here's a player that
we would rather have a draft pick for or or
we'd rather have this guy instead of here. You make
moves like not understanding that there's a big impact on
the field and winning is really what matters. Yeah, unfortunately,

(11:52):
he's Oh he's kind of Woody Johnson just maybe maybe
a little better off, right, because again, they win double
double digit games with some regularity.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Jets don't win double digit right, so as much as folks.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Again, and this is where I stand back Jerry to
a point is that they've had a lot of regular
seasons that have been what you would consider in most
cities a success. They just don't have the Super Bowls
that he won back in the nineties. So that's how
he's he's measured. But he's a lot like Woody Johnson
in the all right, well, the business side of it.

(12:25):
We really got this down and we can get attention
what we want, and we get all the headlines. Unfortunately,
with that comes the poison pen the impressions, most of
which are not flattering. You try to show Jerry some
love now you make fun of him, but it's done
so with a you know, a kind kind feel to it,

(12:47):
as opposed to an acidic tongue. Now where it goes
with this trade thing, I think you're absolutely right that
there was something that he could say the contingent on
this and you know, you get an extra pick here
or whatever and and we'll iron out the details. Or
he could just claim that Stephen made the call for him,
that Steve's doing an impression now just you know it's me,

(13:10):
it's Jerry.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
We want to make this trade now for the Henderson kid. Oh,
Jerry nice to talk to you. Yeah, that's great.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Uh, dad wants I mean I want to uh uh
make a move, So we're gonna do this here?

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Did you just say, Dad?

Speaker 4 (13:26):
No?

Speaker 1 (13:26):
No, I meant I was thinking about my dad who
had the zoo uh you know a long time ago.
Uh but uh, I want to make a trade. Jerry
gotta put your voice through the voice verification. No, no, no, no,
it's still me. Maybe that's what maybe Stephen Jones he say, hey,
Jason Smith does a great Jerry, we need to make trades.
I get him down in Dallas trade. I make calls. No, no,

(13:47):
I make calls pretending to be Jerry Jones. Can you
fake the vocal print because there might be you know
something you've got to fake instead of a handprint, you know,
it's the voice.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Id h. I would I would need the uh, the
Breis Hall kid to come in and play running back
for us a little bit with Javonte, So mooge want
to make that move for you? Can we and you know,
really don't lack the field's kid. He's been terrible.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
I can't believe you go into this season with thinking
that offense is gonna work when you're taking it back
to like nineteen eighty three.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Wait, Jerry, what are you talking about? Sorry?

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Sorry, slip back into Jason Smith mode there talking about
how you're mismanaging the Jets. Wait, Jason Smith, the radio guy,
Let's just make the deal for Breese Hall and we'll
figure everything else out. Is this really Jerry Jones? You
know I'll call you back, but you get back to
that and contingent just real quick. The other part is
he may not have a trade gearing damnt you by

(14:40):
the deadline. He's got a trade to announce. It may
not be of anything of consequence in our world, but
to him, it's hey, we got a deal done.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Trade has got to help us.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
This mega charge is hard pokemon trade, and I've gotten
a couple of snore lacks in return.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Told me it was a pretty good deal. So we're
doing that. I mean, really snort.

Speaker 1 (15:00):

And maybe the Lakers don't need Lebron or Reeves or Luca.
Maybe don't need any of them. Forget about Lebron coming
back being the third option. Oh, they don't need him now,
Maybe don't need anybody Young Legs, juice, no Luca tonight,
no Autin Reeves tonight. Starting a bunch of backups, and
the Lakers are on the cusp of running away from

(17:30):
the Blazers. They lead it now one seventeen to one
oh five with two and a half to go in
the fourth quarter. I love you all, But how are
they gonna win without all their starters?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Jason, Well, how are they gonna do it? Well, I
didn't say they couldn't win. Said it was basically did No.
I didn't say that. No, don't.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Nobody's coming down even more mocking need I said overall
product to the EP. I said nixx yo and use it.
Uh No, he really actually hadn't said that yet tonight. No,
Well they won again. Yeah, but generally that that's one
of the leads. I want to know if you tried
to force Martin to say that, and after you put
him in a really uncomfortable position after the last like
three or four days. I'm looking forward to the Knicks

(18:11):
Bulls Eastern Conference Finals. I think there'll be a lot
of fun, fun games, a lot of fun fun games
over the weekends with the series.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Jake la Ravia starts tonight for the for the Lakers.
He's eleven to five and four. Ruyachimoras got twenty six
de andre eight and twenty five ten and two levels
in Arizona.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Again.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
What about Nick Smith junior?

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Oh man, he just hit a bay, just hit a
big shot, twenty five points for him, in his twenty
five minutes off the bench. Dang the Lakers. The Lakers
can wave Lebron.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
They could. We don't need him, We don't need Lebron anymore.
Just wave told you that a while.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Just let him go, Just let him told you he can.
He can have his release to go wherever he wants.
He just has to give back the fifty two point
nine million dollars.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
We'll pay you. We'll pay you off, Lebron. We don't
need you anymore. Oh no, no, no, no, he pays it
back to them.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Don't know if they're gonna let him go like that.
He can't walk away with that money. He's good.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
He had a chance to leave before.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
See you, Lebron. We didn't know if we needed after
Austin Reeve turned into a superstar. Now we really don't think.
We now have proof of concept.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I look at Hayton.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
We gotta I mean, just think about this, like, who
is Lebron gonna take minutes? So Lebron can't take away
Jake la Ravi's minutes eleven and five and five with
three steals and he Ames got three blocks.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
It's so awesome. At this point, he can't take Browny's minutes.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
No, no, Bronny came off the bench. I played nineteen minutes.
He's got five and six tonight plus minus of zero.
He didn't hurt anything. Listen, we only have room for
one James and where we're taking Bronny. Okay, I know,
I know it's gonna upset you and you should normally
feel great about your kid, but uh yeah, sorry about that. Yeah,
but think about it. Eventually you get Kleba back into

(19:50):
the rotation as well. So I mean, come on, don't
need him either. You get rid of a lot of guys.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
His name's Max. We need a Max. You can get
rid of a lot of guys watching the rotation. We
didn't need nobody else. Man, Well you need Luca and Austin.
You got a good agitator.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Yeah, you got a good agitator in in our guy,
Marcus Smart. Come on, trade Luca back to the Mavericks
and you get Cooper Flag and then you call this sucks.
Uh yeah, maybe everybody's sleeping on the Lakers without Lebron.
This is just just think for a set of them.

(20:25):
You know, you know that Lebron was thinking this season's
gonna start. I'm not gonna play. This is the only
way for the Lakers to really understand how important I am,
because they've pushed like this game, the Lakers and Lebron
have been playing, and this game is gonna end in
a in about forty seconds, Lakers have a ten point lead.

(20:46):
You know, the only way Lebron could get any kind
of sway back because the Lakers are moving on without him, right,
They would love him to be gone, but fifty one
million dollars, he's not taking less. Maybe at the deadline
they can make a trade, but you know he is
no longer in the circle of trust. They love move
on without him. How does he get back any sort
of power? Well, I'm not going to play the beginning
of the season, and with so many moving parts he's

(21:08):
banking on, the Lakers are going to struggle. But when
I come back, I'm gonna save them. Right, I'm gonna
save the Lakers when I get back. And that's the
only way that I can get any sort of swerve.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Back with this team.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
I love swerve where this is the only way I
can get any sort of or or any sort of
influence back, where we realize, okay, we need me, right,
Luca can't do it all by himself. But what's happened?
Wait a minute, Luca is doing it by himself. Oh,
by the way, he doesn't have to because Austin Reeves
has become a superstar. We saw the games that Luca

(21:46):
was missing. He carried the team by himself, a fifty
point game, a forty point game, a thirty point game
with a game winning shot Austin re This is now
a Luca Austin Reeves driven team and Lebron is the
third option when he gets back. How does Lebron fit it?
So that's bad for Lebron. Now it's even worse. And
here's a night after they just beat the Miami Heat.
They rest all their stars and they still win this

(22:07):
game and they're six and two. Now you're Lebron going
this is an absolute disaster. I thought they'd get out
of the first eight ten games, three and seven, four
in sad Maybe we're meanner. Instead we're at the top
of the Western Conference and Lucas barely played. Auton Reeves
is a star guys named la Ravia and Marcus Smart
shows up and he's playing well.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
What is happened?

Speaker 1 (22:28):
This is the most this is the worst start of
the year that Lebron could possibly have thought. Oh but
I mean you go back to that one game. He
really had that strong Morpheus look to him when he
was sitting.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
On that throne. Oh yeah, and he didn't move, yeah right,
he didn't cheer.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
It was like he was, uh, well a statue because
he didn't turn his head or anything. Wore of those
cool sunglasses in that suit, and there he was the
next game feeling the backlash of that. He was very
animated all that. We have the next game. You know,
they play next Wednesday night, they played the Alien. They

(23:02):
were guy got then you play Atlanta, Well, no, Trey
Young for the next month, and you got Charlotte. You know,
you got like five road games in a row here
coming up. And then eventually well Oklahoma City, Okay, that's fun.
New Orleans then Jannis, I mean he's Giannis auditioning for
a spot. I mean, I don't know, you bring on

(23:23):
the ninety seven Bulls will kick their ass right now.
With JJ Reddick actually playing minutes instead of coaching or
coaching while he's on the court, we're gonna stop for
a second.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Well, that's what they said. Lebron's always stopping around anyway,
We're stopping down. We stopping down.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
JJ wants to teach us, but really, this could not
have gone worse for Lebron or better for the Lakers. No,
puts him in a great position of power. And but
here's the thing. Unfortunately you gave him that damn player option.
Otherwise you wouldn't be dealing with this at all. Welcome
back for last money. No, okay, because what's the background

(23:58):
all of this. He's still fighting because he's mad that
he didn't get a one in one or a two
in one or whatever, and that they just left the
option dangling for him to take. Well, he could have
tried to play the power move and go on wherever
he wanted. Guess what I'm gonna go out on a
limb and say. There weren't a lot of teams that
were knocking at the door saying come on board without

(24:18):
having to give up a bunch of their core to
make it work. So Lakers are six and two in
terms without Lebron, without Lebron, all the way through without Luca,
without Austin.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Reed.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Now, your guy, Austin, guess what you're getting for the holidays.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
He's gonna line up a bunch of Austin Reeds cards.
You can stare at him, maybe a couple of.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Oh yeah, i'll do twenty five point five minutes. Yeah,
I don't wear Smith Jersey Operational Fishing. Don't wear anything free.
Oh yeah, yeah, yes, it's it's free. I'll wear Yeah,
you'll give it to me free, I'll wear it.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
You have to take the junior offer. I'm okay being
Smith junior. I'm okay with that's fine, that's all right.
Really yeah, yeah, okay, I'm that's fine, song says Smith
on it. I'm good. It's kind of like way cool junior. Yeah.
Dune d dun d d dan.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Now, meanwhile, the game of the week in the NFL, right, well,
the game of the week. The most exciting game was
the Bears and the Bengals, but the biggest game of
the week the Bills and the Chiefs. And I told
John Friday, this is where the Chiefs saw a Boh,
they're the best team in the AFC. They're back.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Look at what they have now.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Yeah, I said, this is where the road to the
super Bowl hits a speed bump because they're playing a
good team. Who was revd up for this game. The
Bills have been kind of meandering this season. I mean, look,
the Patriots are better than expected, they're having a good year.
They should never beat the Bills in this game. But look,
when you get as far as the Bills do every year,
you're playing the AFC Championship game every single week, and

(25:41):
you're playing to get back there, you lose a little
bit of focus. You're not as flat.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
This is a game.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
You knew the Bills would be up for it, and
they were, and they were the better team on the
field against the Chiefs. And I've been so right about
Kansas City from the beginning of the season. Stock up
on Patrick Mahomes, stock down on KC. The entire season
for Kansas City doesn't boil down to the fact that
they're done. They're tough, but it's going to be a
struggle because they're not as good as the other younger,

(26:08):
deeper teams in the AFC. We have seen that the
entire season. They have beat one good team, and that's Detroit,
right in Detroit. But now Detroit's having some problems, but
Detroit's still really good. Their offense is really good.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Everyone else they've beaten stinks Buffalo is the first elite
team they've played since then, and Buffalo out athleticize them.
They own the field. They ran the football without any
big wide receiving threats. Dalton k and Kaid had the
breakout game They've been waiting four years for all of
a sudden hundred yards against the Chiefs. Like whatever, they
could just keep that guy healthy, he's your number one.

(26:42):
Whatever the Bills wanted to do in this game, they did.
And I don't mean like they exerted the world the
entire game, but they said, we want to come out,
we want to run the football, want to move it
up and down the field. We want to own the
middle of the field. We want to do all of
these things they did. We want to hold down the
Chiefs offense. We know they can't run the football. They
did that. The Chiefs are going. It's just going to
be a struggle. It's not like I said, it's not

(27:04):
the Chiefs are done. But this window of the Chiefs
being the big Super Bowl favorites, guess what they've gotten
passed by teams that are all looks. It's easier to
get younger and deeper when you're not spending all kinds
of money, top heavy players, and this is what the
Chiefs are doing. So yeah, when they get their playmakers back,
Like I said, stuck up on Patrick Mahomes. But this
is a team that's sitting around five exactly where I

(27:24):
thought they'd be going into the by they're right around
five hundred. Now we'll see what happens second half of
the season, and certainly in the next twenty four hours.
I would expect them to be active in terms of
the trade market, because you clearly don't have a number
one running back. The Checko's had many a shot and
many a bite at the proverbial apple hasn't been that guy.
Kareem Hunt flashes once in a while. Otherwise he's pedestrian

(27:47):
defense has been pretty good. Exploited a bit yesterday. You
saw the big plays to Kincaid as you mentioned, and
certainly running the football with James Cook, who's been phenomenal
all year long. Twenty seven carries one fourteen not a
great average, but guess what you're grinding clock. The big
thing that was surprising was that the Bills defense actually

(28:07):
showed up because they'd been terrible, and that's the only
thing that worries me. Because look, you play players on
the schedule. Chiefs at five and four. It's been a
miserable slog week to week. Travis Kelce looks like he's
running in mud at times. Rashi Rice is back and
can make the big play four for eighty and then
you're still working out the rest of that receiving core

(28:29):
to decide how much they get the play in. But
nobody's running away and hiding. This Bills team is far
from perfect. Everybody's got wartz. In the AFC, we watched
the Steelers rise up and beat the Colts. They needed
a lot of turnovers to do it. Offensively, they were
still terrible, but for one week, their defense rose up.
Just like this week, the Bills defense rose up as

(28:52):
if it were the Super Bowl, as if this were
the AFC title game. Guess what, it's a game at
the beginning of November. Don't see each other get him.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
You know?

Speaker 1 (29:02):
For the Chiefs. Just think about this for a second, right,
Breecee Hall has been the big name. Now he's the
most the youngest, most impact offensive player you can get.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Jacobe Myers is a nice player to get, but he's
shown you I'm just a guy I'm not gonna Yeah,
I don't like the way he's running the last couple
of weeks, Like they know, I want to be traded,
but brief as good as what. It's not just the
Chiefs though, Don't do it if you're not a team

(29:32):
that needs a running back. That doesn't because the Jets
want a third round pick for breeseall right, that's what
that's what they that's what they're holding out for. You
see the talent he has, he's in every down. Running
back doesn't have to come off the field. He's good
in the passing game, everywhere. He's one of those running
backs that you don't have to worry about, well, will
he fit into what we do well? Like like Davon Achen,
I think you can say, would he be someone that

(29:54):
he's a little bit more time to fit into it,
because clearly the Miami Dolphins offense has built a certain way. Yeah,
I could see or maybe a chan would be a
player where this talent is undeniable, but maybe he needs
a little bit more time to get in because it's
about timing and his speed. But Breece Hall is someone
that he's succeeding on a team here that has no

(30:14):
threats to throw the football to Garrett Wilson is out,
doesn't matter. He's physical, he's got breakaway speed, catches the ball.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Out of the backfield.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
If a team doesn't call the Jets and say, okay,
here's a third round pick for him, what are you
really doing. We think we're this close, we're running back
away from the Super Bowl. But no, no, We'll give
a fourth round pick, but not a third round pick.
What are you doing? Why wouldn't you do something? Jets
are saying, you want a first round pick for a
guy at the end of the year, you don't know
if you can happen. Third round pick, Yeah, third round
pick is a starter, but is a premium player. Breese

(30:46):
Hall is a He is the premium offensive player on
the market. If the Jets can't get a third round
pick for him tomorrow, well it is the Jets, so
I'm always expecting failure. But they really should be able
to hold firm and say third round pick for Breese Hall.
There's too many contenders that still need help in the
running back room. Now, the Bears were in that moment

(31:06):
and I actually put them in the contender right there
on that left side of the Ledger of tough games
to go, and they've got a terrible schedule to come up.
But you got DeAndre Swift and now you found your
guy in Moning guy. But you know what, you can
always do the ocean's eleven. You think we need one more.
They obviously be working more on the defensive end after
losing a big part of their defensive line this this

(31:26):
weekend against the Bengals. But for the rest of the market,
I mean, Alvin Kamara is solid, not gonna cost you much.
He kind of wants to stay in New Orleans, but
recognizes where they're at and what they want to do.
So perhaps it's a low round pick that gets him.
But is he a difference maker. No, you've got the
two guys you mentioned them, Haul and eh Chan. Now

(31:47):
Ehchan a little bit leaner in that rookie contract. There's
still more time on that, so it's going to cost
you a bit more. But as you say, you know
with Breise Hall, you know you talk about explosiveness and
the ability to catch the ball and make plays out
of the backfield as a receiver.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
They both can do that.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
And now it's just who's the acting GM in Miami
that would pick up the phone, like, there's the question
right now? All right, you fired Greer, who's empowered to
do anything you make Jalen Phillips, Well, I mean they
kept showing cutaways to him when they talked about glory days, right,
twenty four years since that last playoff win. But yeah,

(32:25):
that's that's the question, right Whoever whoever consummated that Phillips deal,
get them on the horn and just start going down
the line. And a chance should be on another team too.
You're not building around a running back. You're just not
go find another couple of draft picks, get a couple
of high round picks and flip that over. But for
your Jets, yeah, third round pick. With all the teams

(32:46):
in need of help at that position, that should be easy.
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports, and Martin wiss and what you got
for us.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
Tonight, the Arizona Cardinals break a five game losing streak
on then at football, they beat the Cowboys twenty seven
to seventeen. Jakobe Brissett got the start in place of
Kyler Murray, who's ruled inactive.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
In the hour before the game. He was questionable leading
up to it.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Jacoby recept finished with two touchdowns, two sixteen through the
air and a one rushing touchdown two passing. Marvin Harrison
Junior caught one of those passing touchdowns. He had seven
catches ninety six yards through the air, and the losing effort,
deck Press got two fifty through the air and a
passing touchdown and interceptional. Dallas' last play, Javonte Williams had
a fumble date in the fourth quarter, which pretty much

(33:35):
sealed Dallas's chance of trying to come back in this
when it was all Cardinals from start to finish. Commanders
linebacker Frankieluv who has been suspended without pay for one
game for hip drop tackles. The Ravens have traded for
Titans edge rusher Vermont Jones for a fifth round pick
that could become a fourth rounder, the Eagles acquiring Dolphins
linebacker Jalbn Phillips for an exchange for a twenty twenty

(33:55):
six third round draft pick. College basketball tipped off today
thirteenthree Arizona to beat third ranked of Florida ninety three
to eighty seven. Calvin Samson with his eight hundredth career
win as eighth as second rank. Houston beat Lehigh and
Bethune Cookman took twenty aeth threeth to Auburn in overtime.
The Tigers ended up victorious ninety five to ninety You'll
remember Bruce Pearl not coaching this Auburn Tigers team. In

(34:19):
the NBA, the timber Wolves beat the Nets one twenty
five to one O nine. The Nets ozh and seven
to start the year, Pistons beat the Grizzlies one fourteen
to one oh six, and Memphis John Moran had eighteen
points in thirty five minutes. He's five for sixteen shooting
a game after serving his suspension, and his postgame quotes,
I'm sure Jason and Michael get to him a little bit.
He's he's he's not playing with joy, guys, he's not happy.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
You gotta play with joy. Way to do it.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
Giannis is with a game winner to hit Milwaukee to
edge Indiana one seventeen to one. Fifteen Pacers one in
six on the year and Karl Anthony Towns double double
thirty three points thirteen rebounds as second year player. Alex
Sar tried best nineteen points, eight rebound seven assists, but
too much for the mighty New York Knicks.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Back to you guys, Big Bodaga Yo, Jason Smith Mike
Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Coming up next,
something that we should never see again in baseball following
the Dodgers beating the Blue Jays in the World Series.
What is it that's next? Jason and Mike Baseball hot
take next Fox.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Yeah, we got more from Monday Night football
coming up in about ten minutes. But today was parade
day in Los Angeles for the Dodgers winning one of
the greatest World Series we've ever seen. A lot of
great beaches, two of the greatest games we've seen in
World Series history, Game seven. I don't know what to

(35:56):
say about the last couple of innings of that game
and the heroics of me Gil Rojas and plays at
the plate, But I want to say this because this
should be the last time I ever have to say it.
In the bottom of the eleventh inning, when vlad Guerrero
Junior leads off with a double. Right. This is after
Will Smith took the air out of the Rogers Center

(36:18):
with a big home run. I'm leading off with a double.
You're the Blue Jays. You're thinking big inning. We're gonna
not only tie this game, we could win it. Our
best player leads off with a double. Let's go. They
bunt him over to third. I could hear the screen
like all those millions of people when all the around
got blown up. We're gonna do it all suddenly sign it.

(36:40):
We're gonna do the Dodgers a favor, and we're gonna
do Yamamoto a favor by bunting and giving him an
out makes no sense. Obviously, you saw the outcome after
a walk, Kirk gets into a double play. Dodgers win
the World Series. Bunting is such an outdated strategy, and

(37:02):
teams still want to do it, not understanding or not
realizing that the act of bunting doesn't automatically result in Hey,
we pull off a successful bunt, put a run on
the board. Number one. We've seen this playoff. How many
teams have gone home because they can't execute a bunt?

(37:22):
Pop ups to ask players to bunt, they can't do
it anymore. Right, So number one, you the bunt is
great in theory, but you have to be able to
execute it. We've seen teams not execute it and go
home because they can't execute a bunt, right. We've seen that.
Not only that, but okay, getting the runner over, that's great.

(37:43):
You gotta get him in. If you don't get him in,
you know what, that is an unsuccessful strategy because you
gave the other team an out. Instead of let's try
three chances to get a runner in from set he's
already in scoring position. Let's try three tries to get
a runner in from second base rather than a two
tries with a runner on third or one try, because
then you had to do all play to end the game.

(38:05):
So you had one try. You had one try rightaway.
So one try from third or three tries from second,
that's what you wound up having, That's what you wound
up getting. I should not need to ever talk about
the bunt again, and teams should say, you know what,
we are just not gonna do it. The Blue Jays
decided to give the Dodgers a break, let them catch

(38:25):
their breath, give them an out and instead they wound
up going home. Well, you're also in the heart of
your order now, I know you took Bashett out obviously
the concerns with him running the bases. You'd already lifted him.
So fine, you don't have his bat, but you're still
looking at you know, Barger, Kirk coming up, etc.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Let them hit, let them swing away. I mean, it's the.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Heart of the order that's done a lot of damage
over the course of the series. The ground ball the
fly ball ratio is about a one for Yamamo, know,
based on the way he pitches and the and the
action he's got on the ball ahead of the plate,
So it's not like you're getting that that big lift necessarily.
That becomes another part of the strategy. The defense is

(39:11):
going to be in to cut everything off, and Guerrero
Junior is not exactly fleet to foot, so that ninety
foot chase might be a little difficult.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
For him, particularly with the way.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Look, the Dodgers suddenly the last couple of games, but
what we were talking about the acumen of their defensive players,
didn't they could see that after the hundred and sixty. No,
didn't have that on my Bengo card defensively, the TODs
the Dodge are going to make the plays defensively to
win the World Series.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Did not have that mud times multiple games. Yeah, and
there you have it.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
So, yeah, you put Yamamoto back in an area of
comfort and he finishes the job. I mean, I understand
the old strategy and bunting used to work a long
time ago, when lots of guys could bunt and you
could find a way to hit a fly ball together.
But the way Pitcher's thrown and look at Yamamota, right,
you knew his strategy. I'm not giving bars or anything

(40:07):
good to hit because you know what I can know.
I can get Kirk to do hit the ball on
the ground. It's what I do with my splitter. Is
Kirk fast?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
No he's not. We get a double play win the
World Series? What happened?

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Double play? They won the World Series? I mean, I
really fail to get how you can tell me that
playing for that one run is the right thing to
do well, And you look at the Blue Jays over
the course of the series. They hit two sixty nine
to the Dodgers. What two two and change or something
like that was the final stat But it's still in

(40:36):
a twenty twenty five. It's not the same contact, even
though they're higher than most that the strikeout's still big
on the table as well, and you're not getting a
lot of great swings on yabam motor. Yeah, Guerrero got one,
but those have been kind of rare in the course
of this series. Right, You're not getting a lot of
good looks, a lot of good swings at him. So

(40:58):
to give yourself up that way and given out away
just seems silly on many levels. Like we go back
to baseball growing up, where you had multiple guys in
your lineup that weren't exactly uh, the the greatest hitters.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Uh. And the picture batting.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Sure, the bunt's part of it because that's the picture
could at least lay down a bunt, But now you
look at it, with the amount of strikeouts going through
a lineup, there's no guarantee and clearly that they took
the l on that one. Bunting is a relic of
a bygone era. I would put the bunt in our
sports stonehenge if I could, but it's gonna keep coming back.

(41:32):
What's the only in the playoffs, though people think I'm
in the regular season I'm coaching. We're gonna bunt watch
watch Okay, yeah and guess what you went home because yeah,
yeah yeah. And then Double Switch was a master's class.
Coming up, we got a we got a crazy NBA
story your way, and a trade that has to happen
in the NFL.
