Speaker 2 (00:22):
This you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour three The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon. Thursday Night football goes
to the Texans. They beat the Bills twenty three to nineteen.
They sat Josh Allen thirty seven times, thirty seven in
a row. They're back in the playoff chase. What now

(00:49):
for the Bills? Joining us now in the hotline to
break it all down? Nobody better the NFL? On Fox
Insider Extraordinaire Jay Glazer, Jay, Happy Thursday, Man, How you doing? Man?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
How do you guys doing?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Tell boy, we're doing better than Josh Allen. Every time
he took the step, until like he took two steps
and it was running for his life.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Jay, So let me tell.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
You how feared the Texan front is it's how feared
they are. A couple of weeks ago, Broncos are going
to face the Texans, and Sean Payton's like, man, we
gotta do something. They literally signed Mercedes Lewis, who is
probably the best blocking tight end of all time, specifically

(01:33):
to come out of retirement for that game, just like, Hey,
if this guy can help us on ten plays, we're
gonna take it because Percedes a gangster and we need
somebody who's not afraid of Daniel Hunter, Will Anderson. And
but like, man, they their front is that dangerous. I
know the offense can't do much right now, but they
are so feared and what they can do in that

(01:54):
defensive side of the ball. They're the teams. So every
year there's somebody that kind of starts stepping up in
week eleven, week twelve, and you're like, man, I just
don't want to see on my schedule, and it's them.
And they've been like this because they're you know, because
their defense, but man, their defense like wet week after

(02:15):
week after week of people trying to figure out how
can we slow them down and they can't.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
You know, we talk about resiliency in teams, Jay and
teams that you know, quit as the season goes on.
And this is a Texans team zero to three. No,
Joe Mixon, j Stroud is hurt. They could have easily
packed it in so many times this year and instead
here they are in the thick of the playoff chase.
It really is, It really is.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, but they're not. They're not going to pack it
ings what they got in the defense front of the ball.
And Tobigo Ryans Yes, Like man, the job he's done
as a coordinator this year, and I it really is
amazing when you look back at like Kyle Channon's coordinators.
Look what obviously you know his stormy coordinators do is
the former head coach of Jets, right, Robert Sala. Look
what Dimiko has done. Like man, there's just kind of

(03:04):
a culture of this, this chaos that those two guys
calls on that side of the ball, that doesn't really
you know, look at San Franz. They've been so beat up,
but there's this chaos over there. Demiko has a two.
And No, I don't think this is the type of
team that's going to pack it in because I think
they you know, sharpen their weapons every week. But you know, again,

(03:25):
I just want to go back to what I said, Like, guys,
the Broncos signed.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
Someone like Norman has an unbelievable blacker, like, we need
any help we can get and they're like, hey, you're
forty one years old.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
We don't care. You're not afraid of it. Guy, you
and see if you can help us, and he did.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
It's funny, one of my favorite players going. So when
that news started flowing, Jay I was like, yeah, because
as long as these guys keep playing, I don't feel
so damn old.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Well, so let me tell you what happened to Like
that week, Sean Payton calls and he's like, hey, we're
looking for a blocking tight end and I'm like, oh,
that's right, you get the Texans. I was like, hey, no,
he goes, we're looking for a tight end. I go
blocking and receiving goes blocking. I go, oh, look no further,
because what do you mean? Asked, like, I got your guy,

(04:18):
Mercedes Lewis and he's like what's he doing? I said, dude,
he's working like four times a day, like big don't
because a gangster. We're like, what do you do? Right?
I said?

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Legally?

Speaker 3 (04:28):
I told him like three days ago he is underlooks
in great shape, but like Mercedes, the type of player
that he'll fight you before you'll fight him. He's just
he's that guy. So Sean's like, well that's what I'm
looking for. I said, you got the Texans. He goes, yeah,
we got the texts. Oh yeah, it makes sense you
have the Texans. Like what could somebody do to slow
those cats down? And like I said, like you know

(04:50):
what you're facing, but nobody could slow them down. They
are a violent, violent, violent defense. If they just can
just get a spark on the other side of the ball,
that is not a team that I'd want to say
is done a playoffs stretch.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Well, Jay, with them winning that game, I think you
should get a Super Bowl ring if the Broncos win
it all this year, like you won that game for them.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
No, I just want Mercedes to pay a bill once.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
There you go. Yeah, we always keep track of all right,
who's picking up a tab this week? All right, so
let's go to the other side of things. Sean McDermott
trying to keep this Bill's squad. They had a big
win against Tampa and come back tonight. He's under duress.
You take some of the opponent, but overall and uneven
run for the Bills.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, it really has been. You know, it's just like
you know, you got kind of look at it, like, man,
do they have the weapons, Like, look, they're young receiver
where they thought was gonna be like a big playmaker,
and he is, but he's not playing by their rules,
you know, and you gotta show hey, this is no
one's bigger than this, right And and Jan Coleman. So
you know, the build up still trying to figure out

(05:59):
because they do have like the horses, but I think
like all their horses on Josh Allen, I mean, like,
look what the Chiefs do. Hey we've got Patrick Mahomes.
But let's go be a great Let's go try and
get this guy and that guy and this guy and
that guy and and I think the Bills, man, I
do still think the Bills as the stretch is gonna

(06:22):
come down here. I do think they're a team that
you're not gonna want to face. I do think they're
a really really good team.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah. It's like we were talking to this a few
minutes ago about how they're the good but not great
teams and you try to find that.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
I think that's a bad matchup. I think it's a
bad matchup for them, all right.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Jay Glazer with us here, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios. You know, we go
going down the list of these teams you don't want
to play, going through. I know they're three and seven.
But tell you what if the Bengals get Joe Burrow
back this week, Jail, I'll tell you man that that
could be some kind of run the next month if
Burrow comes back.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Man. So, like two weeks ago, you guys know, Rosie
and I aren loved it, and Joe and I are
texting each other and he's like, hey, man, I'm telling
back like wasting people think I'm like, and he said like,
I think like thanks Givving Ish. I'm like, come on, dude,
there's no way, like I know, like doctors I talked to, like, hey,
type of injury that's going to be like January, not

(07:17):
even like regular season, like it's just the And I
told you guys, the worst injury ever. And he's like, no, no,
I'm telling you Thanksgiving ish. So then he tells me
SCO two weeks ago and all of a sudden, bam,
he comes back and you know, last Monday and then
we text again. I'm like, hey, you feeling He's like
pretty good. Let's hear next week goes and I was

(07:38):
told like they're into seven on seven and then he's
going to do eleven on eleven. But eleven on eleven
he's feeling great. And I think that the big thing
was like, look, he toured a ligament, a tendon, the plate,
all this, and I think it's just got and and
part of it too, is his his management of pain

(07:59):
is for them most like I think a lot of
people when they deal with this injury is so painful, like,
oh man, I can't do this, I can't do that.
And he's just like it's part of it. It's my
heartor to fight hurt. And I think Joe's just different. Man.
He is a gangster. He is different. So yeah, he's

(08:20):
done on eleven on eleven. This week feels prey. I
just never see anything like it.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yeah, it's more appropriate now that he wanted one of
those batmobiles they were making. All right, So jay I,
you know you work with him in one of your buddies.
I enjoyed the Smashing Machine. I was a fun theater Romp.
But is there any better drama than the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
No?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Never, though it doesn't matter what year there is, it's
always it's trauma, it's it's They're a great reality show.
And you know, it's interesting because A. J. Brown's taking
all the front of this. But it's not to say
j all right, He's just kind of an easy target
because he is is is, you know, his emotions on
a sleeve. And one of the things I love about
it is that's who you want. But here they are

(09:07):
a first place team and it's like the sky is
always falling there and it's it's always like that in Philadelphia,
just how it is, you know. So, but I do
think they man, they've gotta they've got to look last year,
I had a report and I got killed for it.
That man, Jalen Hurts the buy. I actually loved the

(09:27):
said Jalen Hurts the Buy. But Brandon Graham and Big
Dahn went to his house saying, man, you gotta he's
gotta connect with more of your teammates. You gotta connect
with these guys, and and he did in credit him
and Brandon said it wasn't true. You know it's true,
and Jalen said it wasn't true. Even though it's true,
and Jalen and I talked about it. I'm like, dude,
this is a good thing. But I talked about it

(09:49):
last year and obviously they came together and they won
a Super Bowl. But it's like it's happening all over again,
and I think he's gotta connect and uh, it's on
the quarterback to make sure it's together and not just
like watch this happen. It's on the quarterback. You go, Okay,
if there's a disconnect or there's an issue, it's on

(10:11):
me to go. We've got to bring us together. I
gotta do this, and I don't think that's happening there.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
You know, it's kind of apropos j that we have
the Cowboys and the Eagles this week. Did you talk
about two teams bathing in dysfunction? With the CD Lamb
story today that he missed curfew, he was out at
you know, late at night in Vegas and had to
deny reports he was throwing up outside the casino following
all of this, Like, man, I'll tell you this, this
is the dysfunction ball on Sunday between these two teams.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
No, but you know. Look, no doubt you know what
CD and George should have known better, especially a week
where you really got to stay together because of what
happened to them. They should have known better.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
There does this happen more than we know about Like
we heard about this obviously they were benched the first
three place. It became a story.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, Oh my god, yes,
oh my god. There's so many times that guys are
because you got to remember too, their kids, so they
do stupid tough a lot. The coaches like I'm gonna
make exempt. I remember, there's a great story Jimmy Johnson
bench Michael Irvin. I think he was late for playing

(11:21):
they're playing Detroit, right or he kind of showed up
as they're about to leave, and but like coach, Michael's here,
like no, he's supposed to be in the seat already,
take off leave. So the plane leaves and this is
Jimmy story, and so I hope I don't get it wrong.
But you know, the plane leaves. They might make Michael
fly in, but they're gonna bench him for the start

(11:43):
of the game. And I think they went like three
and out like the first three series and the coaches
come to Jimmy go you think Michael's learner's lesson?

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Yet sounds right, So what happened? Did he go back?
Did he go in the game? Damn right, Jay, I
gotta imagine. Over the years on that Fox NFL Sunday set,
Jimmy Johnson regaled you with maybe one hundred stories similar.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Oh my god, man, dude, let me tell you someone.
He retired this year. So he sat next to me
in our great room, right next to me, and I'm like,
this is the longest relationship I've ever been in my life.
He and he know and he retired. I man, I
was attacked. I still am like I lost the guy
sitting next to me for twenty three years. It sucks

(12:33):
that he's not there with me. Like it. We're we
love him, we love him, we love him, we love him.
But yeah, no, I went to the morning period. I
still think I am down for you.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer. That's at Jay Glazer.
Jay as always, buddy, appreciate the stuff, appreciate the stories.
That My story was fantastic. Man, Love you, mad Thanks
thanks for being with us. Hey, have a great Thanksgiving.
We'll talk to you soon. Appreciate you, buddy, pig goes
Jay Lazer, You think I just learned his lesson? Gotta
get him back in a Hey, hey, we just went

(13:03):
three and out. Get in there three and out three
times in a row. Let's get Michael back in the game,
will you? All right, let's do that. Let's Shotenheimer only
went through it once. As I get it, as he
learned is let's listen. Okay, so maybe three play? What
are you thinking? Oh yeah, first quarter into the second
quarter are three plays? All right, guys, go all right,
go go. It's the thing about that, it's the Raiders go.

(13:24):
As he thinks about Jimmy Johnson, We'll make sure we
get a note down to Jimmy as well to say hey,
because it's been a minute since we've had a chance
to talk to him. But it's just that that idea
for all those years, think about that block of those
Cowboys teams. He could probably write fifteen books based on
what the hell he had to navigate and try to

(13:45):
keep out of the press. A little easier then for
social media. But the characters on that squad, the trickling
out of stories through the years, I don't even think
We've scratched the surface if I'm guessing right, not even close,
not even close. Uh, Jay Glaser, you can get the
best of version posted if you miss any of Jay
right after we get off the air. Jay's interview in

(14:07):
its entirety goes up there wherever you get your podcast from,
just search Jason Smith and Mike Harmon. We're the only
show Jay stops by with and talks to with Fox
Sports Radio. So you want Jay Glazer and all of
that insight, all those stories again right here, and again
the best of gets posted right after we get off
the air. We have more on the drama of Thursday
Night football we're gonna hear from Josh Allen coming up next,
and also what might be a really telling job of

(14:32):
lip reading Josh Allen during their loss to the Texans.
Josh Allen, that's next, right here, Jason to Mike. Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven

to get.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list jam in me.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Well you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk

continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 6 (15:33):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by

little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
There you go, over Promising, and remember you could see
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen over Promised with
Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app Apple podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith's show with my best friend
Mike harmon the Bills fall to the Texans twenty three
to nineteen, and man, I'll tell you what. We have
some A plus lip reading coming your way in a

(16:17):
couple of minutes when it comes to Bills quarterback Josh
Allen what it means for the rest of the season.
But twenty three nineteen was the code in Pixar when
they went Nuts and Monsters inc. Right, wasn't that when
saw Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I think so. Twenty three idea
Mike Wazowski. But first let's hear from Allen, who followed

(16:38):
up his six touchdown day on Sunday with a zero
touchdown day today and a grand total of five fantasy
points unless you're in a league where a sacks count,
and then it was just one fantasy point. Not good. Yeah,
twenty three nineteen. He would have been yelling that a
lot because that means human contact. Boy, but he sure
as hell got a lot of it on Thursday night.

(16:58):
So let's hear from Josh Allen on Bill's quarterback and
then we'll get to the big liberating from tonight This
is where I want to hear Josh Allen talk, tell Alan,
tell it.

Speaker 7 (17:15):
They wanted it today, you know, And yeah, I mean
we had a chance to win it there at the
end and got to find a way the final play,
final play, you know, looking looking like a man just
dropping back and just trying trying to get it to
one of our open guys.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
You know.

Speaker 8 (17:36):
Yeah, on the fourth down play it appeared on the
sidelines on the TV broadcasts that you might have been saying,
what are we doing on that play? Were you was
there some miscommunication or were you just not happy with the
play or I mean.

Speaker 7 (17:49):
Just frustration on my part, you know, just yeah, in
a situation like that, probably should just bang the time out,
just getting getting and we got to play in late,
you know, and didn't give ourselves a chance there.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
How difficult is it to deal with that pass rush
obviously taking all those hits.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Can you even put into words.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
How it did just to get through a game like that?

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Most sacks of your career, Yeah, it's not fun.

Speaker 7 (18:20):
I ran into a couple myself. I gotta be better
throwing the ball away and living to see another down
and letting us play some situational football and pinning them
deep and too many times I was going backwards and
I gotta be better on that.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
So some great stuff there from Josh Allen in which
he addresses, yeah, I ran myself into some sacks, because
yes he did, just trying to make something happen. He
held onto the ball way too long. Throw the ball
away instead of throwing it away and living to fight
another down. Instead of third and seven, it's now it's
third and eighteen, which were a lot of plays for
the Bills tonight. And you're not making third and eight

(18:55):
to get you get one fourth and twenty seven play
which the Bills got late. Yeah, you don't have a
lot of those in playbook. What have we got longer
than fifteen yards? But here's the big takeaway from this
for tonight. You heard the question Josh Allen was referred
to a question to him from the reporter during the
game after another bad Bills drive, which are a lot

(19:16):
of them tonight. There's video of Josh Allen slamming his
helmet down, sitting on the bench, turning to back up
Mitchell Trubisky and saying, what the blank are we doing? Like,
what are we doing? My guy? Your guy MITCHI my guy,
and I'm sure Mitch just said I yeah, I should
be out there. What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Man?

Speaker 1 (19:32):
You sit on the bench? You stink tonight? You know why?
I mean? I adopt the Bills because they've got my
two favorite guys. You stink, you're oh, Josh, is only
one problem tonight in the game? What's that? Only one? Poets?
You stink? That's the problem. I'm going in all right. Here,
take my baseball cap. I'm going in the game.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
This is Josh Allen saying what are we doing? This
is a microcosm of where the Bills are this season
and forward in the NFL. The Bills have not gotten
better in the last few years. They've not gotten markedly worse.
They have tried to reinvent themselves, getting away from the

(20:10):
Stefan Diggs error with Josh Allen into the James Cook
era with Josh Allen. They have tried to continually remake
their wide receiving corps. They thought, hey, we drafted Dalton
kin Cake three years ago, He's gonna be the next
Travis Kelsey. Guess what, probably not gonna happen, all right.
Also having a tough time staying healthy missed another game tonight,
we can draft numbers at wide receiver and really be

(20:34):
better and more consistent. Not the case. Kean Coleman bench
tonight again. Guy you took in the first round. His
future with the team has probably done at this point,
and you get bench twice. Their offense has not gained.
It is not really slid backwards. They've kind of been
the same. The Bills have sort of meandered the last
three years as a team where, boy, we're really good.

(20:57):
Do we want to make big changes to get over
the hump and get to the top and get to
the super Bowl, Or do we think we're on the
path to get there and we panic if we try
to do a little bit too much and reinvent the team. Right,
That's kind of where I felt the Bills have been
over the last couple of years. Hey, we're right there, right,
let's not go crazy because we are right there and

(21:18):
we have the quarterback, so let's not go nuts and
yours it's well, if we don't have the quarterback, we
rebuild around the quarterback and bring somebody else in. That's
normally how it's done. But the Bills felt, hey, we're good.
Our defense is good enough. The division is bad enough
for us to continue to run for a while. But
when you go two three years and you're still kind

(21:39):
of the same team, other teams are gonna get better,
they're gonna pas you, they're gonna get younger, they're gonna
get more physical, they're gonna be more athletic. And right
now they're looking up. They're not gonna win the AFC East.
Their path to the playoffs now is through the wildcard
because the Patriots with their easy ass schedule, and the
Patriots haven't proved, not saying they haven't, but when you
play that schedule, Yeah, being nine and two, okay, you're

(22:01):
looking at a you're looking at a three game lead
with three games to go. You know, three four games
to go is kind of probably where they're gonna be
at now. Could it be different this week if Joe
Burrow comes back and the and the Bengals pull a surprise,
But if not Joe Burrow, you're looking at that kind
of lead the Bills have just kind of maintained and
at some point you have to make the big decision

(22:22):
and and sit back and get everybody in the room
and say what do we need? What are we missing
and being more aggressive at receiver. Yeah, that's an easy
thing to say. But the guy that's gonna wind up
paying for this if this season doesn't end well is
Sean McDermott. Right, because McDermott's been the one constant other
than Josh Allen the last few years. They have not

(22:43):
gotten the super Bowl. They have they have not gotten
to a point where you feel like they're even closer
to the super Bowl than they were a couple of
years ago. Now, obviously, being this good in the era
of the Chiefs, that's a tough thing, right, it's a
tough thing, but you know what, it was tough the
air of the Patriots for twenty years making to the
super Bowl. But you are a team that is that good,

(23:05):
and this should be your year because the rest of
the AFC is wide open. This should be a year
where the Buffalo Bill's all right, you know, this is
our year to get there. Maybe it's not gonna be
more than one, but this is our year to get there. Right,
Like if Lamar Jackson got to one super Bowl, that
would be an achievement, Right, if Josh Allen gets to
one super Bowl, that would be an achievement. This is
the year for the Bills because the rest of the
AFC is open, but they're not even close. And if

(23:27):
this season ends with them taking a downtick and especially
getting in as a wild card and having to win
their way on the road and they don't get there,
what's going to change. We need a change at the top.
And the whispers for Sean McDermott are gonna get louder
and louder, because suddenly it's gonna go from man, what
can Sean McDermott do to a little bit of man
Sean McDermott can't win the big games, to man, Sean

(23:49):
McDermott can't even get us back to the big games.
That's a big decline for the legend of McDermott and
what the Bills need because they're gonna need some kind
of change. And are you gonna convince everybody that this
is what's happening? When Josh Allen sits here and says,
what are we doing offensively? This is not what are
we doing player wise, This is not what are we
doing with James Cook, This is not what are we

(24:10):
doing at tight end? This is what are we doing offensively? Which, yeah,
that's a Joe Brady thing, but it's much more a
Sean McDermott thing. If this season goes south with the Bills,
it's gonna be a new head coach there next year
for the back half of Josh Allen's career. But that's it.
At some point you got to stop running into the ceiling, right,
which is lowered, because now the pressure mounts time and again.

(24:31):
As you say, the division has been there, you have
two teams that haven't been able to get out of
their way. Obviously your Jets, sorry Buddy four plays in
a flag and then whatever they've been running out this
year and going forward. You look at the Patriots, it's
all right with the world with Rabel Drake may taking

(24:52):
advantage of a schedule. Look, you can only play who's
on it, and they've got an easy run the rest
of the way, so you're not catching them. And then
the Dolphins are just good. No, as we saw two
weeks ago against these Bills that they're They're dysfunctional, but
still dangerous on occasion, especially when you got a speedster're
like eh Chan and you can't stop the run, which

(25:12):
is really what's become an issue here. They were fortunate
I guess that Woody Marx and Nick Chubb don't surmount
much of an attack there, and Davis Mills sure as
hell isn't running anywhere, but he did enough in the
passing game, finding spots, missed some throws early, but it
was enough to take him down here. That for McDermott,
you've at least got to be dominant defensively turnovers you're

(25:35):
for the year, and that Allen's not, you know, infallible,
certainly had a bad night tonight, but you're looking at
a minus two turnover differential. You're tied for tenth with
about five other teams in terms of how many turnovers
you've generated this year at thirteen. So you're not you know,
being opportunistic. You're not getting a consistent, persistent pass rush

(26:00):
and supporting. And then we look on the offensive side.
You got just a bunch of guys. I like Khalil Shakir,
he's a two or three on any other team, right
and he had a couple of big runs after the catch,
the hook and lateral play. That's fine, but you don't
have a guy that can go get it when you
need to know and to think about it, think about
how great the offense was that they could score any

(26:20):
time anywhere on the field when it was Josh Allen
Stefon Diggs, but a guy you have to shade a
safety over and take him out of coverage. Here they
surmounted an awful lot of pressure without having to bring
extra men, which allowed the Texans to stay back and coverage,
so the windows were that much tighter. And for Alan,
the margin of error is not there, like he's got

(26:42):
to be Superman. And we've watched it all season long,
you know, the numbers coming into tonight looked very early
similar to last year. His completion percentage is actually up
in a bunch of metrics QBR and all that it's
actually higher than it was a year ago in his
MVP year. But it doesn't matter because outside of jam
and Cook, who they forgot about at halftime right had

(27:04):
his seventy five yards, it is you with a nice total,
but if you watch second half, it's like, is he hurt?
Where is he? Where the ball? I mean, you gotta
do something to back this pass rush off, even if
it's just a soft toss to the outside to get
it spread things out, which they never did. And and
for the McDermott part of this. It's not that McDermott

(27:25):
suddenly is a bad coach. It's not that McDermott suddenly
doesn't know what he's doing. It's that sometimes, look the
voice in a team, sometimes you just wind up tuning
it out. And when you have offensive difficulties like this,
you wonder how much of a tune out there is,
how much of a buy in there still is, because
we've tried it this way for a while, and not
only is it not getting better, but it might be

(27:47):
getting a tiny bit worse. And that's that's just a
general rule of what happens in the NFL. Look, if
Sean McDermott winds up getting fired, he'll get he'll get
a new gig at a new team right away. Like
he'll be one of those fired on a Tuesday, high
on a Thursday, and it's gonna be Solomon Grundy born
on a Monday, the christened on a Tuesday, Solomon Grundy.

(28:08):
Yeah no, but the friends from the accountant that he
would ha been half I would. So I'm born on
a Monday, christened on a Tuesday, married on a Wednesday,
sick on Thursday, worse on Friday, died on Saturday, buried
on Sunday. Right, I think that was Solomon Grunt thing
with the guy in the place Tuesday, married on a Wednesday,

(28:28):
took ill on Thursday, grew worse on Friday, died on Saturday,
buried on Sunday. That was the end of Solomon Grund.
There we go, that's it, so it's gonna Then he
came back to haunt the super Friends and as part
of the Legion of Doom. He was one of the
worst villains in the Yeah he was so bad. Uh,
but like he because Sean mcdermot's a good coach, but
sometimes the message gets a little stale and you just

(28:50):
need something else, and the Bills are gonna say, because
the Bills have to ask themselves. Okay, we've seen the
first half ish little more than half of Josh Allen's career.
Being a bigger qu voorback that runs a little more physical,
his prime is going to be a little bit less, potentially,
because if he was just a drop back pass or
you would say, okay, he could play like Roethlisberger, who

(29:10):
played really well into his into his late thirties. Then
the last couple of years were kind of rough, But
because Allen is a physical guy and he runs the ball.
His prime is going to be a little bit less.
So the Bills have to say, are we sure that
we can go further with Sean McDermott or do we
need a new voice, a new a new way of
doing things, a new attack plan for the back half

(29:31):
of Josh Allen's career. And that's just the way it goes.
And what do we always ask though, I mean, we've
been doing this a while together. Is he an A
to B guy instead of a B two cyah? If
they didn't get so fun, if they wouldn't make the
AFC title game a couple of times and have plays
taken away from them by officials. But again different, but
you're still not getting over. But you're not getting back there.

(29:51):
You're not getting back there there. So it becomes the
all right, how do we maximize what's left of Allen?
You got to go back into the drawing board at
the at the GM and scouting side as well, because
he didn't have he didn't have weapons.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Right.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
I like Dalton kN Kate as much as the next guy.
He's not a number one wide receiver, right, This isn't
Kelsey in his prime as much as you may be
trying to make him that or Tony Gonzalez or pick
insert your favorite tight end, Antonio Gates fighting Keenan Allen,
but you know, you get my point, Like, they don't
have that guy on the roster. Yeah, and so it

(30:25):
becomes the all right, what can Josh Allen do to
put you over? And you're not getting the big play,
the big takeaway by the defense to put him in
short short field positions. Right, you got the return from
Ray Davis. Happy birthday by the way, Yeah, second most
famous birthday today to Richard Dawson. Ah sure, sure, okay,
all right, let's start running. But all of that to say,

(30:48):
I mean, he gave you the kickoff return, but other
than that, like he's an afterthought, was once upon a
time part of your offense. But he's not gonna be
the big explosive difference maker. No, you got you gotta
look at the and we can figure this whole thing
because now the Patriots are back. Yeah, here's a running
man version of the home game for you. Thanks a lot, Uh,

(31:09):
tell me back, I'm telling you it's gonna if it
goes south, it'll be a new head coach in there
next year. How much of Joe Brady, potentially as a
college coach or pro coach, is distracting everybody eight seven
seven or you know, maybe Joe Brady gets promotion about this,
or maybe Lincoln Riley goes to coach the Bills. See,

(31:30):
now you're doing what they do with link. You keep
you keep taking the uh what what were those things
where you take the outfits and you just keep snapping
him over the tops like oh like that look though,
yeah yeah, yeah, yeah that was a that was a
game with like dresses and yeah that it was you
snap them all.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
You keep doing that with Lincoln Riley to all these
teams like everybody else does. I'll do it differently. Maybe
it's Adam Gase coaching the Bills next year.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Time.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
How to find out what's trending in the wide world,
as for words with someone who's been called the Josh
Allen of Fox Sports Radio because she likes to walk
up and down the hallways and say, what the hell
are we doing too? It's Monzie Milanos.

Speaker 9 (32:08):
This is true, This is true. Was trending?

Speaker 10 (32:10):
Is not Josh Allen on my fantasy team who gave
me a big fat zero Okay, big fans BFG, BFG.
The big topic, or at least I find this interesting,
is that you know, you guys are just talking about
Houston and the Bills. Houston has won three in a
row with Davis Mills in that quarterback.

Speaker 9 (32:28):
Because CG.

Speaker 10 (32:29):
Strout has been in concussion protocol this entire time.

Speaker 9 (32:33):
CJ. Strout is expected to be back for the next week.

Speaker 10 (32:37):
Davis Mills was asked if he still sees himself as
a backup quarterback.

Speaker 11 (32:42):
I mean, in my current situation, I don't think there's
a competition. I mean CJ is the starter for this team.
I'm just doing everything I can to bring my best
foot forward every day, make everyone else around me better
and try to I mean, provide and play. I rolled
in my best ability when I get thrown in there.

Speaker 9 (33:02):
Damn, that's what you want to hear, right, I.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Was really hoping for the I'm looking for my Sam Darnold.
Three years, one hundred million dollars. There's time for that.

Speaker 9 (33:09):
There is this. He handled that real. That's exactly what
you would want to hear.

Speaker 10 (33:14):
I think if you're trying to make sure that there's
no drama brew.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
The man, here's what I would say. So you asked me,
I'll be Davis Mills.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Good.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
This is what I would say if he was me.

Speaker 10 (33:23):
Jason Smith, do you could consider yourself still a backup?

Speaker 1 (33:28):
I'm the man. We got to trade CJ. Stroud, the
guy peaked as a rookie. You see what I've done
the last three guys. It was only four years ago.
People thought I was really good. I mean then I wasn't.
And I sat around and did nothing for four years,
kind of like Jason Smith in college. And then but suddenly,
all of a sudden, whoa, look at this, I'm the
guy now. Man, that guy, he's my backup. He's my

(33:48):
back This guy he should be carrying my shoes. Well
all the way through its Hey, hey, hey you want a
new pair of shoes. Yeah, you give me a new
pair of shoes. Oh yeah, I'm the quarterback now.

Speaker 10 (33:57):
And and that was Jason Smith as Davis Mills being
a backup quarterback.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Very shake that off, Yeah, get back to the m
Jason Smith.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (34:08):
Houston improves to six and five. Well, Buffalo falls to
seven and four. Other NFL News colts have added Daniel
Jones to their injury report with the calf injury. Ravens
quarterback Lamar Jackson returned to practice after missing Wednesday with
an ankle issue, and for a second consecutive day, Bengals
quarterback Joe Burrow was a full participant in practice. There

(34:29):
was a story from ESPN and the NFL Network that
Texan's running back Joe Mixon is not expected to return
this season because of.

Speaker 9 (34:35):
His foot injury. Well, Mixon responded to this on social media.

Speaker 10 (34:38):
I don't know if you guys saw it, but he
had to repost and quoted a tweet and this is
what he said.

Speaker 9 (34:44):
Quote. Now, I get everyone's.

Speaker 10 (34:45):
Looking for splash news and clickbait, but I'm just curious
ian of the NFL network, how do you know more
about me than me?

Speaker 9 (34:53):
That is what Joe Mixon said today.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Well, I like that quote. How do you know more
about me than me? Yes, that's something I would pay
mondy to watch somebody talk about. It's pretty good. Give
a big PowerPoint presentation. Yeah, Hey, Seapauk Chopra, what do
you say, how do you know about more about me
than me? I know more about me.

Speaker 9 (35:11):
So there's that. There's a.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Win.

Speaker 10 (35:14):
He's sitting in my fantasy team on ir AS we speak.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Oh yeah, I have a great day.

Speaker 9 (35:18):
Have a great day.

Speaker 10 (35:19):
Tyrese Maxi had fifty four points in the seventy six
ers top The Bucks won twenty three to one fourteen
in overtime. Grizzlies crushed the Kings one thirty seven to
ninety six. Sacramento has lost eight in a row, and
they're gonna be without Demonte Sabonis for three to four weeks.
He's a partially torminiscus in his left knee. Magic Outsour.
The Clippers won twenty nine to one oh one la
is one and nine in their last ten games. Kill

(35:40):
me the Spurs beat the Hawks won thirty five to
one twenty six. When it comes to men's college hoops,
the only one that got close.

Speaker 9 (35:46):
Number fifteen Texas Tech.

Speaker 10 (35:48):
They survived eighty four to eighty three against wake Forest
so well. Number one per Due, Number two Houston, Number
fourteen Saint John's, and number twenty Tennessee all won their
games today. In the NHL, they're going to over time
the Kings and the Sharks. Actually they're going to more
a shootout because they just ended overtime.

Speaker 9 (36:04):
The Kings and the Sharks.

Speaker 10 (36:05):
More overtime is a shootout right away or do they
do another overtime?

Speaker 1 (36:09):
They wait about three hours, they resurface the ice, they
all go out to have dinner, and then they come
back and then there's.

Speaker 9 (36:14):
Shoes and then there's a shootout. Okay, so that's what's gonna
happen between the Kings and the Shop.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
The Curse Child in the original form.

Speaker 10 (36:20):
The Senators just defeated the Ducks three to two, and
the Stars took down the Canucks four to two.

Speaker 9 (36:25):
The Avalanche have won seven in a row.

Speaker 10 (36:27):
They topped the Rangers sixty three, and Alex Soveachkin had
a hat trick the thirty third of his career, and
the Capitals outscored the Canadians eight to four.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Who thank you very much. Mom.

Speaker 9 (36:37):
I'm sorry I threw that ball at you.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
That's all right. She threw a ball, had it come
when I wasn't looking and hit me in the solar plexus.
You know that happened to Houdini, that killed Houdini, you know,
Just so you know, it.

Speaker 9 (36:48):
Came out of my hand a lot harder than.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Oh, you're still angry over that Fries conversation.

Speaker 9 (36:53):
I'm so sorry.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Thank you. Coming up next, you say you like controversy. Yeah,
we got another fun story for you out of everybody's
favorite controversial NFL team. That's next Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 6 (37:18):
Well Dressed Hobo.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
We'll get back to TNF coming up in a few
minutes because there's a big question we have to ask
about Thursday Night Football and it's about a guy that
didn't play a minute in the game tonight. But it's Thursday,
which means there's another big Eagles controversy, because you know,
we get one every day now, and this one, as
a lot of them, are center around wide receiver AJ Brown,

(37:43):
who has not had a great year been alternately unhappy
with his role as things have gone the past couple
of weeks. He has gone from someone who went on
Twitch to saying, hey, this year has been a disaster.
Then yesterday everybody mad at Jalen hertzy freelances too much,
and and then Aj Brown they sometimes changed the plays.

(38:06):
So it's not been a great year for Aj Brown.
AJ Brown gets the question is he still the same
player from a member of the Eagles media, and this
is how he responded earlier today.

Speaker 9 (38:19):
There's speculation out there that you are not the same
player he once.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Man, what would you say to those people?

Speaker 5 (38:25):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
All right, I guess ain't the same player either. That
good for you, AJ Brown? Oh no, no, no, I'm
staking him going whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't put that evil
on me, Ricky, Bobby, you sucked this year. Don't don't, don't.
Don't drag me into it. No, I haven't run for
two thousand yards, but I dragged this bleeping team to
a super Bowl last year while you were sitting on
the sideline reading books. Oh but everybody loved you were

(38:49):
reading a book on the sideline. Well, I'm carrying the
football and I got five hundred touches last year. I'm
never gonna be the same running back again because I said,
you know what, we can't throw the football, so you
know what, give it to me. I'll run it thirty
times a game. I'll be that guy. Don't you bring
me in on this man. You suck, you suck. You
own that you suck me. I'm just tired. But you
don't bring don't don't bring me into your drama. You

(39:11):
stinking that by yourself. Yeah, that's what I would say. Earlier,
we got a dramatic reenactment of what Davis Mills might
have said in his head when asked if there was
a quarterback controversy and whether he viewed himself as a starter.
Now Jason has assumed the personality of Saquan Park. Can
we do this as a recurring bit to where we

(39:31):
put you in costume in the whole nine yards he is,
He's in an Eagles jersey and feeling questions. But yeah,
for Sakwon Barkley's two yards fewer per carry, you only
have one one hundred yard game. He's been well more
or less a jag in terms of how they've used
him and his output this year. So yeah, for aj

(39:54):
Brown though, I think it's kind of funny, right because
people immediately go to stats and targets and whatever and say, well,
you're not contributing, so clearly you're not the same guy
as opposed to the whole machine isn't working. So he
just said, okay, if he's the engine, then the andurds broke.
How about that. All I would say if I was
a J. Brown is guys, what do you want?

Speaker 7 (40:18):
What?

Speaker 1 (40:18):
What do you want? We have the best record, we
have a top three record in the in the league.
We won the Super Bowl and that's boring? What do
you want? It's boring? Hey? Ah, we win? Like that's
that's what Signetti said?

Speaker 6 (40:28):
What right?

Speaker 1 (40:29):
That was salty Signetti of Indiana. Look google me I win.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
That was great.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
That was great for him? A J. Brown? We need
more now. Well look the Eagle. Look they bathe in
dysfunction and they come out smelling like a rose. Well
look at every even this last week, scatter Bow and
everything with the New York Giants. Big Don was there.
We're eight and two. We're gonna win the a NFC East.
This week we beat Dallas by thirty. Yes, oh, or
in so much trouble the Eagles, they they swim in controversy. Man,

(40:57):
it's gonna be awesome. This is a this is a
great day. Only you could bottle this forty Coming up next,
big take coming off of Thursday Night Football from a
guy who didn't play it down. What is it? That's next?
