So on Friday night, Mike Harmon, you lock it in.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Ripped the knob off, send it overnight. I'll get it
on Monday and I'll add to my museum. It is
an NBA Cup night. You think you're just gonna go
gentle into a Friday night, into a big football weekend.
It is another NBA Cup night. You are either in
or out on the NBA Cup. I mean it's a huge, huge,
This is like moving day, It's position Day, It's pole

(01:22):
positioned day.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
NBA Cup Night.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Mike, Well, with all of those games, I think half
of them had spreads near to twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, that going for you.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Yeah, yeah, some good games in the mix, but a
bunch of blowouts. Even my bulls didn't bother to show
up for Cup night getting blown out at home by
the Miami Heat.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
But all to say, it.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Gives us an opportunity to make sure our retinas are
firmly attached and we can recognize colors and maybe you
see colors in a whole other way that torment you
into the night.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I don't know, it's a lot going on.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, I mean, look, it is a it is a
blowout night. It's NBA Cup blowout night. The closest game
so far was decided by eight and it is I think.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
There was one night, was it last Friday?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
You know who would know this, Steve de Sager or
the great researcher Sarah Lanx uh, like one night there
was like ten games and all of them were decided
by ten points or more. Right, that was like sometime
in the last couple of weeks. I think it was
an NBA Cup night. Yeah, I want to say it
was an NBA Cup night. Yeah, a bunch of blowouts.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Eh.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
You know, we'll see if we get continued excellence. I
mean we've had, was it? Darvin Ham still undefeated coming
into tonight's Lots of hams will be cooked next week,
you gotta.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Have Well, it's a holiday sea you got you know, listen,
like like you know when when guys like Jason Myers
are playing a kicking at Halloween, like you play him
in fantasy when you know NBA Cup Darvin Ham, Okay,
you play him when it comes to the holidays when
people are gonna be eating ham like you know when
people have alternate Thanksgivings and on Christmas, certain times you
do that.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Well, you could steal five minutes of a conversation that
is no longer about a family member being ill or
somebody's problems that you've heard about.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
No, hey, you know what, let's talk about a guy
named Ham. I'm gonna give you a pleasant diversion for
a few moments. So it is a big football Friday
college game going on right now. Florida State North Carolina
State both trying to become Bowl eligible.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
As as both of these five and five teams.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I mean, the one thing you could say is it's
a better season this year for Florida State. But seven
to three early in the third quarter in this one,
that's exactly what this game deserves to be.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Seven to three in the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
The long road begins with that first step back, and
last year was an abject failure. One of those things
where I think many people who've lived and died with
collegiate football rankings, you know, the early ones, not when
we're in November and they actually matter. But those early
ones were wringing their hands, going, boy, we wasted a

(03:57):
lot of time.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
How much time did you spend nine minutes? Damn it.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I could have watched I could have watched a funny
short off of one of these animated movies instead, or
a couple of trailers instead.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I wasted time voting on this and it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
So a lot of soul searching.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
But we do have a I mean, look, this story,
I just like more and more every day. In the beginning,
I didn't really care for it. It was one of
the this story's but it's an acquired taste, I would
say it's his story is a very acquired taste. But
after the last few days, now I just I can't
get enough of this Lane Kiffin story.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Oh I really can't. Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
We got the news today that Lane Kiffin met with
his vice Old missus vice chancellor for intercollegiate Athletics today
and they both decided that an announcement about his future
will come the day after the Egg Bowl, which is
when Old miss will play Mississippi State and likely punch
their ticket to the college football Playoff. Now that game,

(04:54):
of course, the day after Thanksgiving, when the Egg Bowl
is played.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
It's okay if you don't remember it.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
You remembered a little bit when Eli Manning played in it,
but it was a long time ago. Uh So that's
when we're gonna get a decision on Lane Kiffin, who
has been dallying with Florida and LSU over the course
of the past few weeks. He could be leaving, he
could be staying, he could be going. Maybe it's the NFL,
but Lane Kiffin. Is he gonna stay? Is he gonna go?

(05:20):
The report earlier this week was the egg Bowl. The
egg Ball was Mississippi said they want a decision by
the Egg Bowl? Are you staying or going? Want a
decision by then because we didn't know if he was
gonna coach in the postseason, But now the decision is
coming after the egg Bowl. Now, two big thoughts of this.
I'll give you something you haven't heard yet about this story.
The first one is this, No coach has embraced the

(05:44):
yeah I could stay, I could go more so than
Lane Kiffin.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
And I dig that about him.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Mostly you get people saying they're gonna have to drag
me out of here. Two days later they're gone, Right,
Nick Saban, guys, I'm not going to Alabama. Two days
later he goes to Alabama. No, I think that Lane
Kiffin is. Yeah, you're not even trying to hide it.
There's stuff on social media. There's stuff, yeah, there, people
are tracking planes in Kiffin's family.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Are they in Gainesville? Are they not? Are they at LSU?
Nobody has embraced this more than Lane Kevin.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, you know, eh, I love it here at Ole,
miss right, did an interview. This week, he was on
a couple of shows. No I love it, Ole miss
you know, but nothing is not saying he's not gonna leave,
not saying this is happening. I love that he has
just say yeah, I could stay, I could go.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
And I dig the honesty.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
I know that there's a lot of upset people about
how could you do this to your school?

Speaker 3 (06:39):
I could you do it?

Speaker 1 (06:40):
But I think you want at least to know that
a coach is honest and it's not going to come
down to, oh, we're blindsided the day after the egg
ball that he's leaving for LSU or he's leaving for
Florida and now we're stuck and we don't know what
to do. I kind of like the fact that, okay,
if you know, everybody knows they're talking, the fact that

(07:00):
this has kind of been above board and Kiffin's not
feeding into it, but he's not backing away from it.
I kind of dig that this is the tack he
is taking, And honestly, I think more coaches should take
this tack. People would respect them more at the end
if they were leaving. If it's yeah, it's out there,
and look, before we get to his decision.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
It's to hey, I might go, I might stay. I
love it here.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
He's got a big contract offer out there for him
to extend his contract, which would pay him mainly what
he would get if he went to LSU or Florida.
So I like the fact that it's all out there
in the open, and it's not it's not something that
publicly that he's hiding from that he is say, this
is the realistic situation. So the best thing is we

(07:41):
can deal with this in public. So now Ole miss
and the fans and the nil everybody has a couple
of Okay, this is what's going on. We're figuring out
after the egg ball. I really dig that this is
how this is being handled by Lane Kiffin.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
More coaches should handle like this.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Yeah, I mean this is also a unique circumstance, Jason, Right,
with the weight of some these schools that have openings.
We don't normally have this many heavyweights that are circling
and humming the waters for the next head coach to
try to bring you up. Right, I mean, like you're
looking at Lane Kiffin in a very unique circumstance. For
ten plus win seasons in the last five years, he's

(08:19):
only fifty you built this program back and to have
LSU and Florida and then you still have rumors of
I don't know, does Texas become open like all of
those kind of things where the potential for mass chaos
is there, which, as you know, I love it between
the white lines and in the boardrooms. And when vice

(08:41):
chancellors get involved in all of the commentary, A lot
of talk going back to ninety eight when Tuberville showed
up on his radio show saying, they're gonna have to
carry me out here on a pine box. I don't
think he left in a pine box when he went
to Auburn two days later.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Yes, you are dead to us.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
You're carrying out of this bout your d He may
still be alive in coaching, but you're dead to us
because you said your cat out in the pine box.
They probably should have done that at the athletic department,
right and done a formal.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
All right, we're dead. He's dead to us. We're done
with this.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Tear down anything that commemorates anything having to do with him,
cut him out, and air brush him out of all
of these photos. Keep the players. We love the players.
Players did as well, but for Lane Kiffin, right, all
the talk. I mean, it's it's great to get proof
of concept for twenty twenty five. Nora ad right, when
we track Santa Claus.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
And all that stuff, so we get to get a
month ahead where we got the ex wife and the
kids and where are they and where are planes leaving?
Are their dummy planes? I think the one thing that was.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Just go up there goes Mike Harmon. Mike Harmon, go on.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Apparently Alex tie shirt Lane Kiffin does not like what
Mike Harmon has to say.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Well, I mean no, well, I mean listen, I know, you.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Know, Hey Kiffin was on our show. He was talking
to us when he missed that flight at the airport
after Alabama won the national title game and it was
a big headline the next day.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, he missed the plane.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
He was on the tarmac talking to us after he
was an OC and they won the national title.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
That's kind of impressive, it is.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's nice. I mean, we we we helped we made
a story there.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Cause you think about it, what's that we also changed
and reshaped the future of the rams if you think
about it.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Well, I know that.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
I mean we have reshaped many sports over the course
of the past decade here and and hey, maybe this
year it's the Lakers, right, stop it. Maybe this year
it's the la You know, not much JJ Redick hates me.
Maybe this year it's the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Could happen.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
But the thing about Lane Kiffin, right, and this is
and this is the big point that I that I
want to make on this.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
And here's something you haven't heard.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
So ole Miss is forcing Kiffin to make a choice
the day after the egg Bowl. Now, do you really
think he's staying?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Of course not.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
If he was staying, there would be announcement that I'm staying, right,
I mean, they're not going to drag this out over
the next week of practice into the egg Bowl.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
They're not gonna do that. If he was staying, I
am sure he is leaving for Florida or for LSU.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I'm sure we'll find out sometime middle of next week.
And the decision, the only decision next Friday, is going
to be does Lane Kiffin coach through the playoff or not.
That's going to be the decision that ole Miss has
to make. But the staying or leaving that's done now. Man,
If he was staying, he would say it instead. The
decision's got to be by next week. Okay, Uh, everybody's
had time. Florida's had time, LSU's had time to rub

(11:33):
their nickels together to try to get enough catch. You know,
there's enough cash for him or there is it, so
he's going. But for Ole Miss to handle it like this,
and I've heard a lot of criticism of well, don't
you do anything he can to keep him. Don't you
want to keep them happy? Don't you want to make
sure he coaches all the way through? What is ole
Miss doing? You're pushing him out, You're causing this controversy. No,
Lane Kiffin certainly is causing it himself.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
But what is Ole Miss doing?

Speaker 1 (11:57):
And Ole Miss is handling this exactly how you should
be handling this type of situation In the poaching coaches
era that we're in in college football, this is how
you do it. It's a new time for everybody. Right,
We've seen coaches being poached before, but not to this extent,
not where you know that once mel Tucker signed that

(12:17):
big deal with Michigan State, you knew money was out there,
knew money was out there to go buy a coach
from any school. You want to Well, they're here. We
can just give them. We can give him twelve million
dollars a year, and he's gonna come coach with us.
This is the new coaching, poaching coaches era, right, that's
gonna put that on a T shirt, the poaching coaches era.
So it's new and no one really knows how to

(12:39):
handle it. How do you do this? And all miss
is doing it the right way? Hey, we're dealing with
this publicly, right because everybody's gonna have coaches poached from them.
They're gonna leave. How do you handle this? They're doing
it the right way. Hey, we get this. You got
an offer out here, you want to leave, You got
to tell us by this day. No harm in doing that,
knowing you don't want to roll over and say, well,

(13:00):
well we need you know, we'll wait and hear you
out and go through all. No, you want to be strong,
but you want to be fair because you know that
this is how the error is gonna go in college football.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
There will be more coaches who are poached this year.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Maybe maybe maybe Sidnetty's gonna get pached because his buyout's
only fifteen million dollars Why wouldn't you do that?

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Why wouldn't you call India? Hey? You know what, Hey, Kurt,
how about you come here.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
We had all kinds of money Indiana, we feel bad.
We'll give you twenty million dollars for a buyout. Fifteen million.
That's nothing.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Man. You see what's going on with Brian Kelly.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
This is exactly how it should be handled, not a
a in a situation where they feel like they have
to be on roller skates where they have to do
everything they can publicly and declare their love for him. No,
it's a business, and they're handling this like a business. Okay,
we've heard the rumors. Now they're out there. We're gonna
have a decision, and they met with Lane Kiffin and
that was a decision. We're gonna know by next Friday.

(13:53):
And that's the question is going to be is he
going to coach through the playoff? I have to think
he's going to coach through the playoff. It's a special season.
You're not gonna put anybody in there. So they're gonna
let them go. Let them coach the rest of this,
because this is how it's gonna go. Now, this is again,
this is how college football. They're feeling their way through it.
Coaches are gonna leave if they're in the playoff. Their
schools will let them because it's a magical season and

(14:15):
their best way of winning is to let this coach finish.
They'll get somebody else, someone else will come in. It's
okay if two weeks go by until you get a
new head coach. This is how it's gonna be. So really,
this is the test case for college football in this
poaching coaches, and I keep saying it because I want
on a T shirt in this era. That's how it's
gonna be. So yeah, both sides. I love the way
Lane Kiffin's handling it. Love the way Ole Missus handling it.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
It's working. It is absolutely working.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Exit out about a Fresca exit Swallow Bell, Jason Smith,

we call a teas in the radio business.

Speaker 5 (15:11):

that's next.

(17:14):
Mike and I love putting this content out for you
every single night. So here we are on a football Friday,
getting ready for a big weekend in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
And you know, Mike, this this story.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
When this came out today, I laughed out loud when
I heard this, I laughed out loud. Not stuff, not
a lot of things I see online or but if
it's not meant to be funny, I'll laugh out loud
on because this is meant to be a serious I
mean not like oh my goodness, but like a serious
you know statement. I laughed out loud when I heard this. Okay,

(17:49):
so we'll get to one of the biggest games in
the NFL in a minute. We'll get to Indianapolis and
Kansas City. But ahead of that, Travis Kelcey talked about
how he's gonna wait on a retirement decision until after
this season, said, you know, I want to give the
Chiefs an opportunity, whether I come back or not, to
see if they want me back or not. All that's
going to be at the end of the season. Not

(18:10):
going to think about it until then, Okay, all right, great,
that's Travis Kelsey. And then he said this when he
said that if he does come back for his fourteenth season,
he doesn't want fans, teams, or players.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
To give him a farewell tour. Here's Travis Kelsey.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
You know, seeing my brother go through it and seeing
I don't know just how the league works, you know,
the season kind of restarts in April, and I want
to give the Chiefs a good opportunity to you know,
whether I come back or not, and vice versa, like
whether they want me back or not. It's one of
those things where I'd like to make that decision before
they got to get draft picks and the free agency open,

(18:49):
so that it gives them an opportunity to go out
there and fill the roster appropriately. So all that will
be at the end of the season and I won't
be thinking about it until then.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
On that note, could you rather, you know, like go
because some guys want to do like a Kobe tour?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Right.

Speaker 7 (19:06):
I love Kobe, Man, I love Kobe, I love I
love everything about him. Man, but that's not me. I'd
like to take it day by day, year by year
and and and just evaluated like that.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Okay, that's or I laughed out loud. That's not me
a farewell tour. Hang on a second, Travis. Now, First
of all, I love Travis Kelcey, right, I love Travis Kelcey.
Travis Kelcey is awesome.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
He is fun. He is a great personality.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Going back when we interviewed him at the Super Bowl
like six years ago and we knew, hey, he's going
to be a big star because he's he's affable, he's out.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Going, he's fun.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
I love Travis Kelcey, but a farewell tour is not him.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Okay, this is Travis Kelcey.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Uh he entertainment TV dating show about his life, Catching Kelsey. Okay,
appearing as a fictionalized version of himself in Moon Base eight,
signing with CIA, hosting Saturday Night Live host Are you.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Smarter than a fifth grader? Then? Are you smarter than
a celebrity? Okay?

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Then become an executive producer for movies. Then all, by
the way, here comes the New Heights Podcast. Well, wow,
the New Heights Podcast is here, and I can listen
to that, in addition to watching him in commercials for Oh,
let's see McDonald's, to Sporting Goods, Nike, Papa John's, Bud Light,
Old Spice, Walgreens, Pfizer, Direct, TV, State Farm, Campbell's Soup Experience,

(20:26):
all of these things, All of this Travis kelcey. But
he doesn't want to retirement tour. That's not him. All
that attention, that's not me, man, that's not who I am.
I laughed out loud when I heard him say, oh no, no, no,
all that attention man, farewell tour.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
No, no, no, that's not me.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Come on, man, that is absolutely you, one hundred and
fifty percent.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
You may as well have just said, listen.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
I don't want to say this out loud because it
sounds bad, but I really do want to retirement tour
because it is all about me and I love me
some me so, but I don't want to say that
because I feel like I you know, people might think
I'm a little full of myself.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
So I'll say no, I don't want that, hoping that.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
I get a farewell tour at some point, because that
absolutely is one hundred percent him. Oh man, Harmon's gone again.
Harmon is gone. God, are you Maybe Harmon disagrees?

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Maybe Harmon.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Maybe Harmon's calling Travis Kelcey right now. Maybe he is
there doing it. I don't know, could be happening, but
that is absolutely Travis Kelcey one hundred and fifty percent.
And you listen and the Taylor Swift, I mean we
of course that's part of it. Now, that's part of
who he's dating. He loved Taylor Swift. He's there, they're
getting married. Okay, But I mean you think about all
of these things where you can't turn around and not

(21:39):
see him and to hear him sit there and say, yeah, no,
that's not me YETO. That's absolutely Travis Kelsey one hundred
and fifty percent. Now you think after this, Okay, I'm
making fun of the Chiefs. All this the bet Jason,
you're gonna pick against the Chiefs. You've been telling me
they stink. Yeah, listen, I'm the case whisperer. I'm the
Kansas City Chiefs whisperer in this situation. I told you
everything that's happening about the team going on so far

(22:01):
this year, right, I told you it was going to
be a rough year for them. They were going to
struggle to make the playoffs because everybody else in the
AFC is younger, they're more at the up and coming
teams are younger, they're more athletic, they're coming.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
For the Chiefs, it was going to be a struggle.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
But Mahomes was going to have a big year because
he's got the weapons around him and he's going to
and he is right number one fantasy quarterback having a
great year at.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
The top of the MVP odds.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
But here's where, Isaig, when you think I'm gonna zag
Mike Carmen, I am gonna give you the Chiefs in
a win this week, right, No way the Chiefs thought, Hey,
we're gonna be this week during week w eak versus
week picking this week week see my English degree. I
don't think they thought at all this season they were

(22:50):
not gonna be able to run the football and they
were not going to be really really elite with outside weapons.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Right.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
I don't think they thought they were going to fail
at all of those results and still try to figure
things out across whether it's Roschie Rice's suspension or look
Xavier Worthy being more of a gadget guy. Travis kelcere
in the end. I don't think they thought all of
that was was gonna struggle. But Mahomes is pulling it
all together himself. But this week, this is a big

(23:17):
gut check win for them. At home, Daniel Jones is
dinged up.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
I know.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Look Indianapolis coming off the by Look they're the best
record in the AFC. But this is one of those
circle the wagon weeks for the Chiefs. Travis Kelcey kind
of called it out early this week. Everybody's got to
put their self for stuff aside, and there's certain teams
I know, when it's a gut check week, they find
a way to win. It's more difficult than you think.
And it's gonna be it's gonna be three points and

(23:41):
it's gonna be the over and I love it. But
at home this week, the Chiefs get a win over
the Colts, and everybody can go out next week and say, oh,
I told you the Chiefs are back there a super
Bowl team and all that all the Chiefs are gonna
do is beat a team to get to six and five.
But I'd like them this week over the Colts to
find a way to get that win because you know,
they they understand where they are in the season, coming

(24:02):
into the let the stretch run here, going into Thanksgiving.
This is where they come up with a big.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
W At this point.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
You got five losses by a total of twenty two points. Right,
everything's within seven points. Three games decided by three points,
including last week's which really seem like it fit the
script of everything normally.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Right, here's Andy Reid coming off of bye. Everybody's mad,
everybody's pissed off. The Denver offense has been struggling. Now
it doesn't matter twenty two to nineteen. I mean, I
think it was the uniforms that pushed them over.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
I really do.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
The Denver Broncos going resplendent in those throwbacks. But for
the Chiefs, I mean, one of the biggest pieces to
it all. And you enumerated a bunch going back to
you know, you don't have your number one receiver for
the first third of the sea.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
It'll be okay, it'll be great.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
And then it was applying bandages, turn of kits all
the way through. You're looking at Patrick Mahomes through this
point in the season, the fourth most pressured quarterback in
the league. The offensive line that's normally been able to
keep him up right, how many games has he led
them in rushing? I mean we've watched the scramble rate,

(25:13):
which we normally don't see at all. Yeah, we expected
a little bit from a youngster like Drake May, but
you look at the rest of the league, they're not
even close. I think Josh Allen's the only one that
rivals where Patrick Mahomes is in the mid thirties. Everybody
else's is low twenties teams.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
And then you got the guys that just turtle as
soon as there's someone yelling I got you, you know,
going back to all those practice things. But you're looking
at eighty seven pressures at this point of the season.
That's a full one every four to five dropbacks for him.
And so going forward, when you don't have the run,
game play action doesn't exist, the offensive line scuffling.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
This is a good spot. I'm curious to see.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Last year we used lou Aniaruma as a punching bag,
but it was more because they gave him no personnel
to work with there in Cincinnati than what he actually
can do as a coach. Now you've added a couple
of pieces at the deadline. We'll see what your guys,
saws Gardner has coming out of the bye, but the
Daniel Jones injury does loom large because this Kansas City

(26:19):
defense can still get after. It still a top ten,
top twelve defense in terms of total defense, and I
think that's the difference here. Add the kicker for good effect.
Travis Kelcey has a big game. Whenever he talks like
this and has to go through the deep soul searching
thing of walking on the beach, usually responds in a
big way. He'll be big in the red zone and

(26:40):
the Chiefs win this to normalize things at least for
a week. Dacie, look we're superle contender. You're six and five. Yeah,
but look look at we're super role contenders.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Look at us. We're winning these games. No, no, no, see.
But here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
What Dad also gives us is Daniel Jones and the
cold stink.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Here it is. The loss begins.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
They go back in division with that game against the
upstart Houston Texans.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
For Week thirteen. See it all rights.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Itself now another big game this week and Congress, go ahead,
Alex Tischer, play it because I know you want to
play it, my friend, play it. Play the Chadoor Sanders debut.
I mean, really, there's got to be something to preview
the Browns and the Raiders. But Shador Sanders NFL.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Debut as a starter, is it?

Speaker 1 (27:28):
I tell you nobody else is gonna watch more games
between two teams that are two and eight, that are
gonna watch the Browns and the Raiders on Sunday. And
I will tell you this, what are we gonna get
on Sunday? Shadoor Sanders will be.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Fine. He'll be fine. In fact, I'll go bold that he.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Will make two or three really good individual plays and
it'll be enough to win the game. His stats won't
be great because you look that the game is a
little fast for him. Still, he's gonna have to rely
on instincts. And look, he's a tough He's really really tough.
He'll stand in and make some throws. He'll also take
off and make some tough runs. He will make two

(28:08):
or three really good individual plays that we'll highlight and say, wow,
that's really good. That kept this drive alive, that did this,
and that'll be enough for them to win the game. Wait,
you think he's good, Wait, two or three plays is
gonna be enough?

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (28:20):
When that Browns defense gets Geno Smith. They are counting
the stats right now. They're going, Okay, how many sacks
for you?

Speaker 3 (28:27):
How many for you?

Speaker 1 (28:28):
How many interceptions for you? How many for you? The
Browns defense is legit. Which is really the crime of
this year for the Browns is that in a year
where their defense is so good, they're just absolutely tanking
and going through whatever they're doing quarterback wise. But man,
the Browns defense against Geno Smith, man, Oh, Geno, good
luck man, good luck with that.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
It will be enough.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
The under is really the best play of all in
this I think you told me last night the over
under was eight or eight and a half. I'm still
gonna go under. But Sanders makes two or three nice
individual plays that put points on the board, that help
put points on the board. The defense wins it, and
Sanders wins his first NFL start. Boom, there you go,

(29:10):
Browns with a win, and suddenly the Chador Sanders era.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
We got our guy, We got our guy. It's awesome.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Exit out bout a Fresca exit Swalling down The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Time out to find out what's trending in
the wide world. The sports but guy has been called
the Chador Sanders at Fox Sports Radio once in a while.
We see him on Sunday. It's Steve de Sager.

Speaker 8 (29:35):
Yeah, I could go four for sixteen. Sure, Okay, yeah,
I'll take it. NC State hosting a college football game
right now, early in the fourth quarter. It's the Wolfpack
ahead of Florida State fourteen to three. If the Seminoles
lose this, they will be two and six in acc play.
They've just started on FS one. The other game tonight
Hawaii seven and three at UNLV eight and two. We

(29:58):
look forward to college football election Sunday on December seventh.
Not much time left in the regular season. As you
mentioned early in the show, Old Miss says an announcement
on the future of coach Lane Kiffin will come in
about a week after the rivalry game at Mississippi State.
Both LSU and Florida have openings for head coach. Kiffen's
career record at Ole Miss is fifty four and nineteen.

(30:19):
LSU's new president is now authorized to formally terminate coach
Brian Kelly, who had sued the board earlier this month.
Virginia Techs new contract with James Franklin ex at Penn
State is for five years and more than forty million dollars. Texas,
A and m gave athletic director trev Alberts a six
year extension, the same length of his football coaches new deal,

(30:40):
and the NCAA voted to rescind a rule that would
have allowed athletes and staff to bet on pro sports,
and they're still not allowed to bet on NCAA games.
Detroit Lyons tight end Sam Laporta is likely out for
the year after back surgery. Giants quarterback Jackson Dart is
still out with a concussion, so Jameis Winston will start
again at Detroit. The Broncos gave kicker Will Lutz a

(31:03):
three year extension. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is questionable for
the weekend. He's still on IR with a toe injury.
The Bears will miss their top three linebackers against the Steelers.
Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers is questionable with the fractured left wrist.
He was limited in practice Thursday and Friday. To the
NBA Scoreboard, Miami has won at Chicago one forty three

(31:25):
to one oh seven. Also in progress, Dallas has taken
the lead ninety eight ninety six over New Orleans with
under seven minutes to go. Pelicans two and thirteen. This year,
Brooklyn was two and twelve, but Gota win at Boston
one thirteen to one oh five. Nick Claxton a triple double.
Cleveland beat Indiana won twenty to one oh nine. Pacers

(31:46):
record now two and fourteen. Washington won and fourteen after
losing badly at Toronto one forty to one ten. Currently,
it's Minnesota tied at Phoenix seventy one all mid third quarter.
In college bass ball in the Bahamas halftime, it is
number one Perdue forty nine twenty six over fifteenth ranked

(32:06):
Texas Tech BYU beat Wisconsin number six Louisville a winner
at Cincinnati. In women's hoops, Notre Dame usc on a
late basket sixty one fifty nine. Number one Connecticut played
on Fox TV tonight at Edge number six Michigan seventy
two sixty nine. The new coach of the WNBA's New
York Liberty is reportedly Golden State Warriors assistant Chris DeMarco,

(32:28):
and just four NHL games tonight. They include the Hurricanes
leading in the final minute at Winnipeg four to three.
The Jets MVP goalie Connor Hellibook will have knee surgery
Saturday and miss four to six weeks.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
Back to you, this is probably the only game, Steve
where I'm going to tell you I am rooting against
the Jets, Carolina being my team, I'm rooting against the
Jets the last minute here the.

Speaker 8 (32:51):
Third took me a second there rooting against the Jets
because for a moment I thought, wait, with the Jets
are in a game? What sport are we telling? Oh?

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Okay, okay, yeah, and the Winnipeg Jets will score more
points night than the New York Jets will on Sunday.

Speaker 8 (33:06):
That seems likely. Actually those Jets games.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
The Jets, the Jets lose twenty three to two, just
a safety that put points on the board for the Jets.

Speaker 8 (33:16):
You think good wide receiver Garrett Wilson is just hiding
at this point.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Oh man, you know, and I can't believe he wants
to come back. I can't really said, you know, yeah,
I want to come back later on this year. Dude,
why do you want to come back? Why do you
just you know what? Hey, I have you on two
fantasy teams. Man, I want you back, but I don't
want you back to just be ready for next year.
There's no reason to come back here. Okay, you need
to make sure that we don't win more games and

(33:41):
it's more difficult for us to trade up to get
Fernando Mendoza.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Okay, just make we can't do that.

Speaker 8 (33:45):
It might be a Heisman quarterback you're talking about there
with Indiana. Jets are at the Ravens, who are suddenly
looking like the Ravens last month. But as far as
the join for the Jets, the Jets future, you know,
Washington's on a bye this weekend. The way things have
gone for them, they might just be hiding for the
rest of the season as well. I assume the Jets
have already had their buy and this is just not

(34:07):
an option at this point.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
But every week has been a bye the Jets.

Speaker 8 (34:11):
Yeah, Jets all the way, eight different bye weeks, so fast.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Thank you, Steve.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live from the
Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
We have more.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
NFL on the way and a big football Friday. But
coming up next, we spotlight the biggest college football game
of the day, tomorrow. You are talking about playoff implications,
clinching elimination and is there a big upset on the
horizon for it. That's next right here, Jason and Mike

(35:16):
buying should be. Well, one thing I want to be
able to say Steve, right off the bat here is
now we're going to talk about this game, and everybody's
looking at the number and what it is. No matter what,
nca athletes are not going to be allowed to bet
on this game. After the NCAA voted on Friday to
rescind the rule change that would have permitted NCAA athletes
to bet legally on outcomes of games.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
On the any games now, yes, any games, well obviously
not your own.

Speaker 8 (35:43):
Uh you know, no college, no NCAA sanctioned sports, no
pro sports. Now rescinding the rule after well various sports
have had well yeah, let's say questions about this.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Yeah, I mean once you know, you had Terry Rozier
getting arrested and Chauncey billups Is at you know, card
games with mafia. I mean I think that's where you
kind of sure something a little bit to say, you know,
let's teach the kids. Let's teach the kids here, a
little bit in said to say, hey take this too,
let's avoid.

Speaker 8 (36:09):
A lawsuit going on. It's just, man, we had such
a good revenue stream, why can't it come without all
of this? Well, it just kind of comes with this exactly.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
This, This is a press conference we'd like to call, Hey,
don't sue us. All right, we are going to not
allow people to bet college athletes to bet on games.
And yeah, quite honestly, this this absolutely makes sense, right,
I mean there's a line to be drawn, you know,
anywhere on it. It's not just you can blanketly let
something go right. You want to make gambling on professional

(36:41):
sports legal, Okay, that's great, right, But certain.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
People it's okay to say you can't do it. Right.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
It's okay to tell hey, NFL players, you can't gamble
on NFL games.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
You can't do this, you can't do that.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
And it's okay to tell kids in college that, hey,
guess what, can't bet on games?

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Oh okay.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
I don't think we're taking away in analienable night. Temporary,
it's nothing to get upset. I mean, people at who
is it the Yankees? For years, you could can grow
facial hair. I mean, it's just part of Cincinnati had that.
Dave Parker went to Cincinnati, had to shave. It just
was it was a temporary thing, and it's just part
of the working condition. Some places you have to wear
a tie. It's just it's temporary.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
Yeah. I used to hate wearing ties. Oh my goodness,
that was the worst.

Speaker 8 (37:21):
Why you're in radio, I think that's what.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
That's one thing I like radio.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
I could wear sweats and a hoodie and a baseball
hat every night.

Speaker 8 (37:28):
I just had this conversation with somebody here in the
studio today.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
And That's the thing is my look is timeless.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
Like you could look at pitches of me from like
two thousand and five, twenty fifteen, and just judging by
how much I weigh.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
You would say that's it. But the but it's like, wow,
he's a classic look. Man.

Speaker 8 (37:44):
The way you phrased that my look is timeless makes
it sound like you're some fashion model and people are
following you. It's really it's I haven't changed my clothes
in years, and I'm very comfortable with who I am.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
I'm not changing the look.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
It's like, hey, because you know and listen, I wanted
more comfort and that's the thing. So I went from
after I graduated college from baseball jeans, T shirts, hoodies,
baseball caps to running pants, hoodies and T shirts and
baseball because I went from the jeans to the running pants.
That want, Hey, I'm looking for a little more comfort.
So that that's kind of where I'm at, all right.
So that's been You've been here long enough.

Speaker 8 (38:17):
Pretty soon it's what Pj's what's coming up next? What's
Harmon going to be seeing on a weekly basis?

Speaker 1 (38:22):
I think maybe when when you get closer to Christmas,
some like christ the holiday style pjs might be on.

Speaker 8 (38:27):
The on an ugly Twitter and we're done. Sure I
might like that.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Now, look, the biggest game of the day tomorrow and
college football USC and Org you cannot wait, can basically
punch their ticket to the College Football playf Now, clearly
it would it would really be USC on brand to
win and then lose to uh Jerry Newheil Jerry and
Jerry new Heisler gets carried off the field again after
beating UCLA. Well, look, this is a ten point spread.

(38:53):
But I'll tell you, I just have a feeling on this.

Speaker 8 (38:57):
You all you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
Yes, I love USC getting ten, but I like USC
to win and pull the big upset. They've been building
towards this. Their offense is terrific, and Oregon had trouble
with Indiana's offense when they played earlier this season. I
think USC just has to survive the crowd in the
first quarter and this is gonna be the win that

(39:20):
Lincoln Riley stands up and says, see, I'm a good
head coach. They got everything need to offensively. Jade myiva
is terrific. This is where I just have a gut feeling.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
This is their best.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Game of twenty twenty five and it's and it's the
win that everybody's been waiting for USC to have for
a long time.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
And hey, finally Lincoln Riley wins a big game.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
They've been playing really well this year, and they've beaten
a couple of good teams. But okay, you're at home
from Michigan, you know, Okay, that's one thing, because clearly
they've played much better at home than on the road.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
Yes, but they've won a couple of nice game.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Beating Iowa last week was really, really but this is
the week that this is gonna be the win where
suddenly people say, Okay, I'm backing on Lincoln Riley and
the USC basically punches their ticket to the playoff.

Speaker 8 (40:03):
And Oregon won a close one at Iowa recently. But
as far as what you mentioned about the crowd, it
is the Oregon home game, and I think that will
mean something here. Oregon, in his fact twelve days was
known as probably the toughest place to play, and certainly
for a visiting fan, the toughest place to be in
the middle of Let's be honest, Oregon did actually come,

(40:24):
you know, this close to beating Indiana in a home
game in Eugene. Nobody has beaten Indiana. Remember it was
an Oregon tie game in the fourth in that matchup.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
So again, Game of the Week tomorrow one hundred percent
USC Oregon.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
I go call me crazy.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
I just have a gut feeling you're gonna see something
great out of USC tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
And all of a sudden, Jane Myiva becomes a guy
the Jets are going to see. We gotta go get
this guy instead. Uh.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
Coming up next, we take a look at two of
the biggest games in the NFL this weekend with help
of an elementary school.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
That's next, Fox
