(00:24):
to Fox Sports Radio, Greetings, Welcome inside hour two The
Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Harmon. I'm
anna ask, man, it's over mercifully so not a Monday
night football game that we're going to write home about
and say, man, I remember I was there the night

(00:44):
the Niners beat the Panthers twenty to nine. Yay. It's
one of two seventy two and am right partner of
our run of not the greatest nationally televised games during
the week. It's not great, Bob, weekends great either, Bob. No, well, yeah,
but at least we're getting big games. We had big
comebacks yesterday. But no, no, no, no, no, I'm saying the

(01:06):
primetime games. Yeah, well yeah, but at least like that
when you got to go to bed early ahead of
your holiday holiday holiday Monday. But that's the thing is
because you have the other games on Sunday that are good.
If the night games no good, hey, I feel like
it's okay. I can get ahead on other things. I
can get ahead on work for the week. I get
ahead on laundry, I can do whatever I want to do.
When it's a standalone game and it stinks out, it's

(01:27):
kind of tough. No, it's tough one, but it does
run a record. And I ran this up by the
guys because they showed the graphic. This is now seventy
three straight games that the Panthers have lost when trailing
by seven or more going in the fourth quarter, seventy
two straight. I want to know who's for seventy three tonight.
Who thought it was a great idea week twelve to

(01:47):
put the Panthers on Monday night foot. I mean, they
were six and five, buddy, but you were lucky. You
were lucky and they were a boring six and five, right,
not was gonna rise up. But like the in the
off season, like who says, you know, we got to
have back to back. We gotta have the Jets on it.
Like Week eleven, and we gotta have the Panthers on
week twelve. Yeah, we need to like whoo, who did that?
Who thinks that's a good idea? Is there's one of

(02:09):
those where you've got to risk a grid.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
And while they don't state that they've got a minimum
of primetime games, the teams have to be on that.
You're kind of foisting the Panthers on the nation because
you got four games that are isolated later on this week.
Right Like when we when we talk about the grid
and the way it works out, it's like, all right,
well we got them, so we can't have them back
on Thursday and Friday. So that's taking eight teams off

(02:32):
the board right away. Uh, and then you start moving
from there. But yeah, Panthers in primetime. At least we
got to see tenorrow and McMillan find a touchdown after
Bryce Young had what twenty eight yards after the first half.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I mean, it's gotta be easy, Like, AI can do
the schedule now in a second. Oh, okay, we have
too many teams here. Okay, we'll do this. We'll do this.
I mean, really, you can you can figure this out. Hey,
AI put the good teams in the best Okay, great,
we're gonna have this team. We're not gonna have that
the New York Jets play Week eleven. We got the
Jets play opening week on Thursday night to get them
out of the way while there's all kinds of excitement.

(03:07):
That's what we're gonna do. I got really with the
way the advance of technology now, like you could have
the schedule done in like four minutes.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
You can probably do a bunch of that, right, and
then is the mileage and trying to equalize that and
go on down the line.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, I'm sure, I'm sure you can do that.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
I mean, it would cost some people their jobs that
probably get some pretty good perks with the NFL, So
I think they'd be a little pissed off.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Well this game, right, Okay, so despite the fact you
had the Panthers playing on Monday night football, Okay, great, Uh,
the Niners go to seven and four, and not only
am I not believing in the Niners, they're starting to
it's starting to piss me off that they're these wins
and how good that the Niners aren't any good the Niners.
And this in a year where no NFL team outside

(03:54):
of the Rams has shown that we're really really good
and we can we're trustworthy every week, like and the Steelers.
These teams are not good. The Niners are not good, man,
They're just not They're not. Yes, they're seven and four,
and I look at their upcoming schedule and I go, great,
they're gonna win a couple more games, or they're gonna
think they're really good. Boy, that's great, right, Like they've

(04:14):
beaten the Saints, they've beaten Arizona, they lost to Jacksonville, right,
they they beat the Rams, Okay, that's great, But they've
been hanging their whole season on beating the Rams, right
they you know, they beat the Giants, they beat the
Cardinals twice. They're just not good man. And and they
get the Browns coming up in Tennessee the next day.
They're up to eight wins. I mean, that's all that matters.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
This is no, it's not beat those on your schedule, Yes,
circumstance dates that you know folks killed Brady. It's like
they went one titles no on the backs of your
crappy t I want.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
People to do the right thing and say, hey, the
San Francisco forty nine ers eight and four, but who
are not really that good. Yeah, we can't say everybody stinks.
That's how you have to say about the Niners, because
they're not. You could sell other teams being better, but
the Night has been overrated from the beginning.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
But the blood of those other teams with better records
you can't sell. Trying to talk about the Patriots. What's
the winning percentage of the team's at three sixty? All
those teams stink, right, I mean, they're they're not exciting.
Sean Payton may come and fight me. I don't care.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
They've won games late, my Bears, they win another one.
Oh no, come on, the Bears are exciting, man, The
Bears every winning they're excitingly good and exciting. Okay, they're exciting. Nuts,
doesn't take years off my life. Tell me, don't tell me.
You're pissed off and you're in first place, gonna be warm.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
No, you're just inferring based on me, trying to get
loud the effect.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
To make it. You're making up. You're used to here,
here's why I know what's happening. You're used to this
time every year, cutting bait on the Bears and understanding
that boy, they're terrible. This is not our year, and
it's never gonna turn round. So here you are a
very familiar part of the calendar, getting close to Thanksgiving.
It's time to really complain about the bear season and
what's next. And we fire eber Flus, we fire Lovey.

(06:09):
But I mean understand, buddy, you're eight and three. You're
in first place, the NFC.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Nord's gonna be in the number one seed after they
beat Philly on Friday. Come on, I'm all about positivity,
the year of living dangerously, the oddity of possession to possession. Look,
you had some defensive breakdowns by the Steelers that were
absolutely unconscionable. The fact that DJ Moore was what that
wide open across the middle you can see Caleb Blake?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Am I seeing this right? Anybody want to give me
a second opinion? Is this actually happening downfield? Now that
that you know TJ. Watt play, we'd love to forget
that along the way, but you know, when you when
you get down to it, Yeah, it's exciting. I'm counting
all those wins and I'm celebrating every one of them, and.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
That's all we should do every day. But you were
upset right away. You don't, you defause not I'm upset. Yes,
you were tried me nuts and look at this. They're
eight and three, they're winning games. They're winning games.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
I'd like that, but I'd like to have a win
that for you know, is a pillar to post kind
of win once in a while.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
But he just take a win. Okay, it's the Bear,
it's the bar. I take a wind. No matter how
they want a gift rapid for me. Just take the wins. Man.
You're not at the time for style. You don't need style. No, no, no, no,
this is.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Not college where we got to go to the pollsters
and have some knucklehead get in front of the podium.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
You had to head win count. Yeah, maybe not this week.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
You know that kind of thing, you know when we
talk about Notre Dame in Miami and all those fun
little permutations and the voting and we'll get the latest iteration,
the next iteration tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
No, no, I'm celebrating the bears wins. There's no no, this
is rare. Man, you're defaulting to be in. I'm just
angry in general. No, the Bears are better than the night.
Look the night of the Night. They're just not good. Right,
they got Christian McCaffrey. Good's a lot of ills. Yes
that yeah, that's great, and chriscaffrey is a great player.

(08:01):
The Niners are not a good football team. They're not good.
They have the division, you know, they they should be
behind the Cardinals, but the cardinalswice and the Cardinals are terrible.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
So let's go, let's go break down their late game performances.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Shall and the Niners can win the next two they're
gonna be They're gonna win two more games and have
ten wins because I mean, really, it's it's hard to
sit here and look at the Niners ago. Yeah, they're
really really good. At least the Bears at least the
Steelers are showing. Yeah, we're really not that good. I
know you thought we were really not that good. We're
giving away this division to the Baltimore Ravens. Okay, just
so you know. That's tips and five.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
I was really sad to not see Aaron Rodgers out there,
just as a football fan, and and with.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
The history, come on, nobody's ever said that. No, no, you
wanted to see. You wanted to see Bears owner Aaron
Rodgers out there so you can beat him. And say
you no longer own the Bears.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
No, but like this was exciting because you also beat
these Steelers with six starters on your defense missing. They
didn't play a single starting linebacker all out, so that
was kind of fun. But Mason Rudolph doesn't bring the
same juice again. Take the w but you would have
liked your guys chasing Aaron Rodgers around that five feet

(09:09):
that he can move.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Buddy, why does it matter you won the game? Why
are you complaining about winning the game. Nobody's complaining about
winning the game are from Mason Rudolf. I am talking
from bully pulpit of a Fox Sports radio host. As
a guy that watches a lot of football, I would
rather see Aaron Rodgers in a diminished capacity than Mason

(09:31):
Rudolph on the field. Okay, as a Bears fan, bring
me whoever and let me attack. I think I think
the two Mike Harmon's are getting a little confused that
I think you. I think your your brain is split
into two missing right now. He wants to go back
to the old ways. It sounds like he's having conversation

(09:51):
with himself about a host and I'm a I'm a
Bears fans, the Bears fan.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
It did just be there's some things that serve my
fandom and other things that serve just from a radio perspective.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Just be happy. Man, it won it's it, it's all.
It's all good. You don't wait. It's a holiday week.
I went It's wicked.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Drake a lot of Coca cola late at night to
keep me awake to watch that good.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
That was good. Don't want to fall asleep like you
didn't top Gun Maverick when we all went, yeah, I
know you want to want to bet you boring? What
do you want? We were what did you want us
to do with the movie? Ty Shirt was yelling every
five minutes of the movie. When we went to go
see who is that? I'd give you a Sharby mustache.
I don't know, we should we really should have. That
really would have been nice. He looked like Tom Sellek,
like a blonde to horse.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
We're also talking about this thing, and it's like that
was what four years ago?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
At this point, Well, what's the last time we went
to Because you can't go out at night, you're gonna
fall asleep. Why why would he bring you to a movie.
We're just gonna fall asleep at eleven o'clock. Was a
fan of the most expensive naps possible.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
I've got my uh my subscription, so that's that cuts
that cost down and immeasurably.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yea, because ever since Benny he has a bedtime. Now. No, now,
you got Benny and Bailey. I got two dogs out. Yeah,
I got Bailey and Benny super stole the Kings, didn't you. Yeah? Yeah,
Wait do you say I put I put the head
on when I walk around the house. Whoa. We just
got into a whole other uh stuff right there. Huh.

(11:26):
We rescued another multipoo and it came with him. Yeah,
I think I think that's multipo rescue when when you
you take you take a dog from a situation that
needs to needs a better situation for whatever reason. That's
what I mean. Do you consider a rescue when you
go and buy a big Mac? Is that rescuing? I'm

(11:48):
rescuing my my appetite at that point, I need a
big Mac. I need a big Mac. No, Ty, It
wasn't like he was like Alan Rickman at the end
of Diehard, holding on to the you know, to Bonnie
Badelia's wristwatch and I had to grab him. Are a spoiler? No,
that's that's that's kind of what it was. Yeah, Eastern
spoiled Dutch time. Bonnie Bedelia makes a ref bony. Yeah. Now, look,

(12:11):
you wanted to talk about fun, Okay, because clearly Harmon kweed.
I wanted to talk about the Bears being fun. Harmon
can't do that. I want to find a way to
can play. The Cowboys win yesterday and it's a great
comeback over the Eagles, and look, I said on Friday,
Eagle's gonna win this game by forty and it looked
like they were going to and then they just simply forgot.
They stopped playing. Right. Jason lock and Forrest said it

(12:32):
looked like it was too easy for them and they
kind of just mailed it in. And the Cowboys came
back and never quit and it was fun. Dallas is
just such a fun team to watch this year because
their offense is uncoverable. We last week when the Texans
won on Thursday night, we said you know what the Texans,
and Jay Glazers stopped by with it and said, you

(12:52):
know what, the Texans are the team in the AFC
nobody wants to play because defensively, it's the best defense
in the AFC, them and the Bear and the Broncos
at the top. Nobody wants to play the Texans rest
of the way because their defense is that good. In
the NFC, Dallas has become that team that nobody wants
to play because the offense is uncoverable. They have stepped
up in a large with their defense is better. Right.

(13:14):
Quentin Williams had what eight hurries uh yesterday against Jalen Hurts.
He's been terrific since they got him from the Jets.
There's times George Pickens looks like he's the best wide
receiver in the NFL. Like I really, it blows me
away that this was the same guy I've been watching
in Pittsburgh under achieved for the last couple of years,
because I mean, there's times where it looks like he
and not Jackson Smith and Jig but is the best

(13:36):
wide receiver in the NFL because he's unstoppable and uncoverable.
Pickens looks that good. Sometimes the Cowboys are just fun
and defensively, nobody wants to play the Texans in the AFC. Offensively,
that's who the Cowboys are. Nobody wants to play them
in the NFC the rest of the way. They are
that dangerous no matter what the deficit is, they can
come back on you. They're dangerous, they're fun. They're just

(13:58):
a fun team to watch, especially after being spotted.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
You know, the Eagles up twenty one nothing and it's like,
all right, just go play football.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
I guess you loosen up.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Ceedee Lamb with a big drop and then doesn't doctor reporters,
but he won't get the aj Brown treatment because they
won and dramatic comeback fashion, and everybody's more enamored with
what George Pickens is doing because it's also another opportunity
to laugh at the Pittsburgh Steelers and all of the
people that have left their building and gone on to
good things. So there's a bit of that. But yeah,

(14:31):
the defense once once things normalized, you know, we've seen
some good things the last couple of weeks. You hang
a little bit of you know, the big flake of
what himalayan pink Himalayan salt?

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Is that, right, Alex? Is that what I want to do?

Speaker 2 (14:46):
The pink Himalayan salt when it comes to playing the Raiders,
because what's that word? They stink so It was good
to see them rise up for a half plus against
what is a pretty good offense, but a fits and starts,
stops and starts and stops, whatever you want to say
with the Eagles, like, we've not seen that level of consistency.

(15:07):
It's winning football. But they move forward for the for
Dak Prescott and company. Yeah, it's a lot of fun,
certainly for your fantasy team.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Yeah. Look, nobody wants to play them. The offense is
just too red hot. Man. It's fine and they're fun
and embrace the fun. Coming up next, the guy who
has been the walking definition of embrace the fun of
the NFL the last couple of weeks, plus two big
hot takes from coming off of this weekend in the
NFL Week twelve. Keep it right here, Jason and Mike

before we get into other stuff in the NFL, because
we're talking about fun right, lot of positive actually ran
big holiday week, you know. Look, I do want to
say this about the Monday night game with the with
the forty nine Ers and the Panthers because we made

(17:05):
we made fun of the game, you know, twenty to nine.
Look when you when you don't really see the game trending,
you wonder how big a deal it was. I just
want to say this, there was really only one issue
with the forty nine Ers Panthers game. One issue, one thing.
There's only one. You're gonna try to dial it down
to one big thing, one thing, one thing for this game.
That's it. I mean, it's right because we want to complain.

(17:26):
Oh person Brown, Uh no, Fran Brown showering every day
because you know he doesn't shower when we win, so boy,
he's he's showering all the time. Now I think you're incorrect, dude,
I I really I you know, you bring up that
Syracuse game and I just go, wow, that was it
just depresses me all over again. Like I couldn't get

(17:46):
over it. I was watching, I really could. It was
like watching a varsity JV scrimmage. I read Syracuse looked
like an FCS team playing Notre Dame and Jelly should
still I mean, get some Heisman votes. At this point,
Steve Angelis would be the unanimous Heisman Trophy winner because nobody, nobody,
Nobody's presence has been felt more and missed more than

(18:09):
Steve Angelly.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Is this why Notre Dame was really inspired? Because he
was the one that got away my votes?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Right now, Steve Angeli Heisman Trophy, Joe Alt NFL MVP.
Right there, there's are two big football awards this season.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
You guys haven't scored more than twenty points since you
beat Clemson back at the end of September.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
It's it's it's it's it's it's it's absolutely awful. I mean,
I can't get over. I mean, I really, I I mean,
we were three and one, we beat Clemson and it
was awesome, And I'm like, okay, if we had lost
seventy to seven, not on national television, not in a
big game where Notre Dame was basically going to clinch
a spot in the in the in the playoff, like okay,

(18:49):
we looked, but to lose and to give up thirty
five points in the first quarter and twenty one points
before Notre Dame's offense stepped on the field, Like that's
that's video game stuff. Like when when when a seventeen
year old is playing an eight year old in the
video game before the eight year old starts schooling the
seventeen year old, and the eight year old cries, oh,
he doesn't throw touchdowns against me. No, I just ran
that one in. I don't know what to say, like

(19:12):
that was no matter how you cut that up, that
was maybe the most embarrassing loss by an FBS team. Yeah,
we know that. I don't know ten years fifteen years old.
Tell me an FBS team that lost a game more
embarrassingly than Syracuse did not to day on Saturday. I
don't know. You come up on one. I know again.
I can't win my Syracuse gear for weeks after that, man,

(19:32):
are you kidding? I get. I mean, maybe if we
beat Houston tonight in basketball, which is close minute to overtime,
we almost won, maybe Syracuse hoops is back, but it
doesn't matter because that football game was just so bad,
was so unbelievably bad. Man, I can't wear Syracuse gear now.
Zoey went to play rehearsal on yesterday and before I
went to drop her off, he's wearing a Syracuse long

(19:53):
sleeve T shirt. I go, Zoe, you can't wear this, No,
none of her. I said, you can't wear that. No. No,
Because some of the boys, they know football and they know.
I'm like, no, Syracuse isn't really football, you know, but
they know no. I said, Zoe, you can't wear that today.
She goes, Dad, I don't care. And she said to me,
Syracuse has a great international program, something I might want

(20:15):
to do in college. And I'm like, yeah, that's not
what people are gonna say. They're not gonna go, hey,
that's a great international exchange program they have there. No
people are gonna go.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
You know, you lost seventy to you should buy her
a Syracuse International Exchange Program Brandon T shirt.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Then I said, let me just at least put duct
tape over the Syracuse part. And you're wearing just a
blue and orange T shirt. Let me just put the
duct tape over. Just let me do that for you.
So you don't do that. I don't want people to
make fun of you. I love you. I don't want
people to make fun She's now, Dad, it's fine. I'm like, okay,
all right, man.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Look, it's like being the boy named Sue, right, It's
it's gonna toughen you up for the road ahead. And
if those guys are witty enough to come up with
something good, then it can be useful fodder.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
For the show. No, because your daughter would report back
to you. Because it's seventeen year old kids are gonna
go Syracuse's. That was one of the one of her
first friends said Syracuse sucks. Well, that's common knowledge. And
then she comes back and says, what did your parents
go to school? Yeah, well, I think I think they
went to like Penn, they went to ivy Lea. How's there?

(21:22):
How about your face? We're better than Syracuse. Yeah, yeah, hey, Syracuse.
That Clemson was a good win. Now they're six and
boy boy daboswin. He might get fired just because you
lost to Syracuse. Yeah, I know. I don't mention that.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
It was a long time that's a long time ago.
That's right, that's the end of September. Anyway, What was
the one thing you were trying to boil this game
back to?

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Oh yeah, but yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, Frostburg, Come on,
I did it way better than you. No, you didn't.
You just threw it sucking like No, look, Ali, you
dunked it to myself. You know what, Frostburg. The Lakers
aren't back. How about that they're not baving Forwise. I know,
it's hard. I can't argue with that. But I just
want to say, they're not back. They're not back. Not back,

(22:02):
They're not back. They're not back. Lebron stinks and he's
gonna ruin the team. Here you go. Hey, how about that?
I threw that out there, that evil is out there
on Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
I mean he just kind of shrugged and went maybe
it could be the case.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
The game stunk. That was the one prop tonight's game stunk.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
So the most exciting piece of the game happened afterwards
in the handshake prayer or whatever, when Juwan Jennings went
up to Morigan jacked him upside the head.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah, you used to used to think those were used
to say spaces, right, we pray at the end of
the games, man say no, no. They were all starting
to get in a huddle, but they were on the
peripher not a safe space in the face. Hey, we're praying.
This is a place for not aw what are you doing? Yeah? No,
that was that was some next level stuff right there.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
And I still haven't figured out quite quite figured out
what happened here. It's like starting to see some some
highlights coming back out of a play where I think
Jennings was tackled then and dude was in his face
after the whistle and kind of diving on a pile
and all.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
But yeah, it's uh.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
It's pretty crazy that he egoes full right hand open
hand though open hand, so maybe just a nice pink
envelope kind of situation.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
This is a place for silence and Worshipman, what the
blike is wrong with you? Man? Come home. Everybody's shaking hands. Hey,
hard fought, good good job, good job, Bam. It's like
it's like getting too a fight in church. It's it's
not it's not good man, it's not. I've seen that before,
fights in church, right, like over what seating? Where people seating?

(23:39):
S e A T I n G. When you said seating,
I'm like seating like people are seated coming, don how
much you've given over you're a sixteen seed. You have
to sit all the way in the background. Seed. You
have to be in the apse near where you walk in,
and then you get a seat if you do well
and sit up there.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Okay, it's like anything people trying to save he eats
people being upset, you know, someone didn't like the sermon
or you know whatever.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
People get offended, people get on Then you add in
the occasional funeral fight.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
I mean, there's a lot of stuff that goes on. Man.
Well yeah, well funeral people are said, you know, church
is supposed to be where, Hey, you know, we're not
We're not gonna fight, We're not gonna have anything in theory. Yeah,
well look in theory you and you know, I would
look when I was a kid, and that was a thing.
It's like when I was a kid, I well, I
would say, I guess I didn't. I didn't take a
lot of it from anyway. You know. Beneath the Planet

(24:35):
of the Apes is one of my favorite movies of
all time. Right, it's such a great uh a cult movie,
you know. The sequel, The Planet of the Apes is
one of my favorite movies of all Like Beneath the
Planets was so good, and the end is this huge
gun fight in a church and it's it's just awesome
with all the characters out. It's so great. Ah, I
love it. That's what I'm definitely out of sorts.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
The only other the only other church scene that looks
like that goes back to oh.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, Eggs, Oh sure, Wolverine. But
the rumored to be the next Wolverine. We'll see, we'll see,
We'll see. Now we want to talk about fun, positivity
and fun.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
You know, I was thinking about this today when I
thought about the joy he has brought to us over
the course of the past couple of weeks. And that's
Jameis Winston right now. Look the you know, last couple
of weeks, he's a you know, Jamis has been Jamis.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
It was entertaining as hell yesterday they nearly pulled off
the upset against the Lions. The first play was a
crazy double reverse pass for a touchdown. He caught one.
Jameis Winston is one of those guys. And I'll tell
you what, We're kind of taking the entertainment value of
his career for granted because again, going back to when

(25:49):
I was a kid, I used to love and I
don't know if they still do him anymore, because I
don't think they do him as often. They used to
do NFL films presents all the time, and and you
would get every and every weekend on HBO they look
back at the big highlights of the week in the
play by play and they're voiced over in the style
of NFL films, But NFL Films used to do NFL
Films Presents once a week and sometimes it was a

(26:10):
and it was usually three stories about some hidden stuff
in the NFL that maybe he didn't remember. They spotlight
a player that maybe you had forgotten about when he played,
and they have stuff miked up that they found in
the archives, and it's so incredibly interesting, and I read
like it's the first place I remember hearing about Joe Capp,
right quarterback for the Vikings, and what kind of a
guy he was, and how he was a curmudgeon and

(26:32):
was not a fun guy. But you know they had
him micd up for a game like boy, he was
pretty entertaining when he was quarterback of the Vikings back
in the sixties, right, So you learn about new players
like this, And I started thinking about this with Jameis Winston, going,
you know, if they still do NFL Films Present, it's
like twenty years from now, they would do this. They
would say, we're gonna look back at the career of
the fun loving Jameis Winston, you know, former number one

(26:54):
overall pick in the draft who bounced around and had
a really entertaining career, and they would play all the
great sound bites of Jameis Winston eating W's and the
crazy pregame speeches that he gives, in the postgame speeches
he gives. He's singing Hamilton after the Giants game a
week ago, and now after yesterday the near win, and
now as you talked about, he wants to play tight end.

(27:14):
Like I could say, like in twenty years a kid
like me, you know, being like ten years old seeing
this going, Wow, this Jameis Winston guy must have been
a lot of fun. I see all this, all this,
you know, his greatest hits of a ten twelve year
career is now dialed back into like, you know, twelve minutes.
But like they were, boy, this guy was fun when
he played. And they start doing research on Jameis Winston
and who he was and in the NFL and NX,

(27:37):
Y and Z, and I started thinking about that today,
like that some kid is gonna maybe discover who Jameis
Winston is in twenty years ago. Wow, he must have
been fun. And I thought about that. You know, he's
having that run now like he's been that guy, whether
he's starting in the NFL or he's backing up in
the NFL and it's not like he's taking headlines away
when he's a second string quarterback, not playing third string quarterback. Yeah,

(27:58):
you don't get a lot from him, right He's he
kind of he knows, he knows. I'm in the background.
I'm not supposed to be a guy gaining attention. But
when I get a chance to play and I have
a chance to turn the lights on, okay, I'm gonna
be that guy. And that's kind of who Jameis Winston is.
And he's really and what he's been so far, even
though he's a backup. Now he gets it. He understands
his place in the NFL. He'd love to start, but

(28:20):
it doesn't matter when he goes out there. I just
want to throw the football every single play. I'm gonna
I'm gonna keep both teams in the game because I'm
gonna throw three touchdowns and I'm gonna throw three interceptions
and one of them is gonna be a pick six,
And no matter what, the end of the day, you're
gonna go. Man, I got my money's worth watching Jameis Winston,
and I don't think we are appreciating the entertainment level

(28:40):
of what he has brought us in the NFL since
he has come in, and we're kind of only appreciating
this now what you do when guys get near the end.
But hopefully Jamis has a few more years to be
this really fun backup quarterback that get to start once
in a while. But really we need to we need
to start taking appreciation of the entertainment value that he's
brought us the last few years. I'll just put the
quig spin on it.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
You know, he's a guy that for long as you
and I have been doing the show, we had some
problematic Jamis Winston stories in the early parts of our
our pairing together, and and it seems that he's grown
uh and learned from those allegations. Folks can read all
of those those issues and instances that that I speak
of here. But a guy who has embraced what he

(29:23):
is as a player, uh and his role probably could
have fought his way out of town when Russell Wilson
showed up and Jackson Dart got drafted, and and he's
there and he's sitting riding riding the pine, and because
of all the desperate quarterback situations, instead now in enjoying
the run in New York. Go back to the Three
Amigos stuff he was doing before back in the preseason.

(29:44):
Russell Wilson conspicuously absent all of those things as you
roll him together. Yeah, it's it's a great second act
for him and hopefully continues to parlay that.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Oh jamous, I tell you really it's I hope he
get like, I want to see Jackson dart back in,
but I don't want to sitution.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Wow, nothing else usub as a tight end for ten plays.
Let's go wait, wait till the youth finds out about
the crab legs.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
No oh yeah, yeah, yeah, well that would be in there.
They have that video of him walking out with the
crab legs right in Pickley Wiggly wherever. It was like
they have walking out public Wiggly public publics. That's a
public spaike Pickley Wiggly Public.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. On special delivery, Steve the Saga Resby,
what do you got for us?

Speaker 4 (30:27):
I believe it was miss Daisy who went to the
Pickley Wiggly Just for the record, Okay, as for the
Juwan Jennings scuffle after the Niners Monday Night, football win
against Carolina. He said in the locker room afterwards it
was retaliation for childish behavior, implying that he had been
hit below the belt. He did have an early touchdown

(30:47):
catch from Brock Party after that party with three interceptions
thrown in the first half with the Niners beat Carolina
twenty to nine. Christian McCaffrey is currently leading the league
in receptions with eighty one. He had seven catches for
fifty three yards tonight, plus eighty nine yards rushing and
a score. The last running back to for a full

(31:08):
season lead the league in catches was Joe Washington. Roger
Craig of San Francisco in nineteen eighty five, who was
on the field meeting with McCaffrey before this game.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
You see him tell him you're the man. You're the man,
Like you're telling him you're the man, You're the man.
It was getting emotional there. Looked cry Roger Craig. I'm like,
oh my god, he's going to cry after saying hi
to Christian mccaffeck, Christian get up at the podium and
tell people how I belong in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
At least McCaffrey didn't say you know you had a
great split finger fastball, Roger Craig, that's the wrong.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Bay Area original men. Weren't you? I think you were
in sixty two even he forgot about that.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
These Panthers had won three straight road games heading into tonight.
They still haven't won four straight on the road same season,
going back to the magical season of twenty fifteen when
they went fifteen one overall. Brockferdy gets credit for a
win tonight, but on throws at least ten yards downfield,
he was one of eight with three interceptions. Niners win.

(32:10):
They are eight and two in conference and they'll be
facing Cleveland next and Brown's quarterback Dylan Gabriel was cleared
to play, but Shedeur Sanders will start again Sunday against
the forty nine Ers. Gabriel is out of concussion protocol.
San Francisco's schedule after tonight at Cleveland, then a bye week,
then against Tennessee the Titans. Well, the less said, the better.

(32:33):
The Vikings plays quarterback JJ McCarthy and concussion protocol backup
QB Max Brosmer will take the first team reps in practice.
We have three Thanksgiving games coming up Thursday, including at
night Cincinnati at Baltimore. Quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to play,
but wide receiver T Higgins is out with a concussion.
A reminder This Saturday college football on Fox TV Number

(32:53):
one Ohio State at number fifteen Michigan in the NBA.
Detroit won its thirteenth straight game i'm a win at
Indiana one twenty two to one seventeen. Toronto won it's
eighth in a row. Got thirty seven points from Brandon
Ingram and a win over Cleveland one ten to ninety nine.
Miami won its fifth straight game one O six, one
oh two against Dallas. For the MAVs, Anthony Davis out

(33:15):
again with the strain CAAF missing a fourteenth straight game.
Guard Tyler Hero of the Heat made his season debut
after ankle surgery two months ago. He had twenty four points.
Miami's Norman Powell was out with a groin injury. New
York got thirty seven points from Carl Anthony Towns in
a win at Brooklyn one thirteen to one ten. The
Nets record now three and fourteen. Denver is thirteen and

(33:38):
four after winning at Memphis one twenty five, won fifteen.
Jamal Murray twenty nine points, Nikola Jokic sixteen assists wins
for New Orleans and Portland. Houston is leading with eight
and a half minutes to go at Phoenix ninety two
to eighty two. Kevin Durant of the Rockets reportedly out
tonight and Wednesday due to a family matter. In college basketball,

(33:58):
a lot of hoops in Vegas, and right now, with
two minutes left in a Top twenty matchup, Gonzaga leads
Alabama eighty six seventy seven early second half in Vegas.
Number seven Michigan ahead of San Diego State forty nine
to thirty three. Number three Houston at overtime beat Syracuse
seventy eight seventy four.

Speaker 1 (34:17):

with My best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up next, something
dangerous and exciting about everyone's favorite. This is a team
that's going to go to the Super Bowl in the AFC.
That's next, right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

(34:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with
My best Friend Mike Harmon. We got a big hot
take from Monday Night Football coming your way a little bit.
But no one has been quite the Patrick Mahomes Kansas

(34:58):
City Chiefs whisper as I've been this year. Everything I've
told you is how it's gone. I even told John Friday,
how's this game gonna go. It'll be close, but the
Chiefs will find a way to win this game over
the Colts. Daniel Jones little banged up. It will be
a little bit low scoring, but they will find a
way to win. What happened, The Chiefs win. Everybody's back
on the oh. They just beat the team with the

(35:19):
best record of the AFC. Aircuts the Chiefs bad. Everything
is the same, Everything is the same, right, everything, As
I said, Patrick Mahomes is playing really really well. Right,
It's having a great season. Not a great day fantasy
wise yesterday, but when they needed to make plays they
were down eleven, Mahomes did it right. This is what
he does. It's still a struggle for the Chiefs. It

(35:41):
will be a struggle for them to make the playoffs.
This game against the Cowboys, I mean, this may be
an elimination game for one of these two teams, depending
on how the rest of the week goes, right, because
both these teams absolutely need this w right, because if
you're the chief you're thinking, well, you might have to
run the table to make the playoffs if we lose
this game this week. Right, Well about it though, Yeah,

(36:01):
well the chief favorites. Yeah well, yeah, of course, of
course Chiefs are gonna be favorites in this game. Yeah,
of course they are the only the only favorites the
Cowboys should be in any game is that they're the favorites.
For Jerry Jones to say something crazy leading up to
the game, that's I really hope.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
So, I mean, you know, talk about post malone or
whatever he's got to do, the halftime show that we
got going on, you know, all of those kinds of things.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
But to take it a little further right for the Chiefs, right, go,
because you know this, I've told you about this. I'll
give you something new about the Chiefs. You watched yesterday.
Took Rashid Rice aways to get going in the game. Okay,
Travis Kelsey's not the same. Xavier Worthy is kind of
a gadget guy. You want to go a little bit bigger.

(36:46):
This year's going to be a struggle. As we said,
it's going to be a struggle. And this is both
good and bad news for the NFL. The good news is,
hey not gonna have to worry about the Chiefs getting
through them to get to the super Bowl. The bad
news is they are going to be done with the Well,
we're just gonna try to remake our wide receiver and
running back room every year deal like they've done the

(37:07):
last three years. Because now that's really not working. As
you can see, we tried, We're gonna remake it's not working.
They don't have enough, right Travis Kelsey's probably gonna retire
or be told he should retire. They need a running
back and a big we mind. They just picked up
Damian Pierce, who got waived by the Texans, because they
need somebody the bodies, They need stuff in the off season.

(37:30):
They are gonna go so big you're not gonna recognize
their weapons next year. Rice is the only guy that
I can pretty much guarantee. Okay, he'll be back now.
Worthy's on a rookie contract, But is he even gonna
be someone that cuts through? Maybe it's Breece Hall, maybe
it's Tyreek Hill again. If he's healthy coming off as
injury and they realize, hey, we both need each other.
But you watch how big they go in the off

(37:53):
season to go get the weapons around Mahomes understanding that
he's back, he's back to being that guy he was.
We're in the back half of his career. We can
still win Super Bowls. You are not going to recognize them,
and it's going to be at least two huge names
coming in at running back and wide receiver for them
next year because this year is just going to be
too much of a struggle for them to say, yeah,

(38:14):
we're just going to run it back and try to
just try to juice a couple of things quickly here
and there. Not gonna do it. It's too much enjoy
this year with the Chiefs and struggling because you wait
and see how big they go in the offseason. At
least two huge name weapons are going to come in
next year for Kansas City. At least two, probably more,
but at least two.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
I like the cut of your jib, Yeah, I mean,
it looks to be an opportunity to get back into
the marketplace. You got to go through and see who's
on expiring deals and all that fun stuff because at present,
they have zero cap space. They're in cap hell as
it were, in only seven draft picks, so you don't
have a big cash of those to go work with.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
But to your.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Point, right now, they're averaging about five and a half
yard air yards per attempt for Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
That's that's not good.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
In terms of the intermediate downfield pass the game, it
doesn't exist for she Rice. How many times were watching them, Hey,
just get the ball in his hands, great strategy, but
you got to be able to block it up and
scheme him open, and right now it's requiring an awful
lot of individual efforts. The run game has been useless
going on several years here. Every once in a while, yeah,
Pacheco will have a game, or or Kareem Hunt has

(39:27):
a game a little more as a goal line kind
of guy, but overall you're you're not playing to any
sort of balance there, uh, And your receivers are more
or less jags. I mean, she Rice is an above
average guy, but he's not elite. I mean, is he
a true number one?

Speaker 1 (39:44):
No? And Travitill, he's a still good number two. No,
that's fine.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Good number word is cheap and that's great, but yeah,
you need you need to overhaul.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
Who needs Mike when you got the refs though?

Speaker 2 (39:55):
It's fair, although if they keep getting a hamstring and
uh potential ACL injuries like last week, that could be Yeah, referee.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
If referees get hurt, you can't count on them. You
have no idea who's coming in off the bench. Yeah,
I mean suddenly now you have you have injury prone referees.
It's like, wait, my guy's got a Raiders logo on
his neck. Exit out about a Fresco exit. Swollendome. Enjoy
it now because it's be a different situation with Mahomes
and the Chiefs in twenty twenty six. Uh, coming up next,

(40:25):
we got that big hot take coming out of the
NFL and do we have to crown a new best
team in the NBA
