(01:07):
Today is the officially we can now start counting down
to the end of the Yannis era in Milwaukee. Right
we have big NBA story today. We got Chris Paul
coming up in a few minutes. But Jannis before a
little bit of drama Intonight's game. The story reported earlier
today Nicks that Yannis and his agent are talking with

(01:30):
the Bucks about Jannis's future. Is he going to stop
stn't put that out there, Ricky Bobby. Adam Schefter said
the only team that talking to in the off season
was the Knicks. Football. Yeah, the football shifter he is.
He was quote tweeting Shams. Okay, it's the only team

(01:50):
on the day where hey, you know the the Yanas
drama continues to go and it's not no surprise.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
This is going along the path we thought it was.
Giannis threw it out there in the offseason. Hey, maybe
I should be looking someplace else, but okay, buy in
for the beginning of this year. Okay, fine, Bucks aren't
going anywhere now. Today Jannis it breaks that he and
his agent talking to the Bucks about what the best
future is. Is it in Milwaukee? Is it someplace else?
And then Adam Schefter comes in over the top with

(02:16):
the report quoting Shamsharania that the Knicks were the only
team that Janniss wanted to reach out to in the
off season. So again we are where we were in August, July,
June right after the season ended that it looked like
Jannis wants out, Jannis wants to go to the Knicks,
and I am sure unrelated Mike Carmen on the day

(02:39):
this rumor breaks, I'm sure unrelated to it. Karl Anthony
Towns goes for thirty five and eighteen, completely unrelated to it. Well, wait,
Yanni's gonna be coming here to take my job and
I can get traded in Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I better put up some numbers here thirty five and eighteen.
We all find our motivations in life and our jobs,
our relationships, familia and and friendships. There's times where you
got to step it up. And for Cat they also
liked the Knicks ran back into MSG yelling sanctuary SEXTU.
Why did I teach him that word sanctuary? Because they

(03:13):
play really well at home. So I mean it really
was just an accelerated version of what the Knicks normally are.
But yes, the idea that this has been restarted. Look
and the honest fan the flames, what was it about
two weeks ago when he was openly lamenting the state
of affairs and the losing streak they were on and
all of those things where he was starting to show

(03:35):
a little salty side of himself. Right, it wasn't normal
Smiley happy, honest. Even in the past when they've had
little downturns, it's always been the you know, I'm blessed
to be here, this life is great. Whatever. He started
showing some cracks of Hey, losing was starting to wear
on him. Yeah, hey, look, they won the championship and
they haven't gotten close since, and they're not getting there there,

(04:00):
clearly not. They've made moves, they tried to do everything
they can around Yann, it's it's not working. And so
Jannis wants out now, Right, you make a big move
and a guy gets hurt, a guy who didn't necessarily
want to be there anyway. But that's a whole other question.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
So here's the thing, Right again, I don't think it's
any coincidence Karl Anthony Towns goes for thirty five and eighteen.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
On that night. I don't want to get traded in Milwaukie.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
But think about this for a second, right, and again,
I don't know if there's any coincidence with this part
of it as well. The Knicks lose last night to
the Celtics, right, and you know they thump the Hornets tonight,
Larry Johnson with a bad game, they shut down Muggsy Bogues.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Kenny Gill's shot was just a yeah, you know, well
he's coming up back to backs. Yeah it happens. N
was pretty good to tell.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
But on the night they lose last night, and what
happens to the Knicks. Jalen Brunson has a bad game.
He was terrible, and the Knicks lose. The one thing
you can say about for you know, with styles with
Tibbs and Mike Brown, and who's playing better under Mike Brown,
who's regressing under Mike Brown. You know, there's a lot
of good, there's also bad with the Knicks. Are the

(05:01):
Knicks too old? But are the Knicks deeper than they
have been? And maybe they can withstand things? They're unbeatable
at home. There's good and bad. But the one thing
you can't you can't deny is that the mark of
a great team is when your star player is out
or plays bad, you can win a game. If Jalen
Brunson's out or he has a bad game, the Knicks
can't win all right. Karl Anthony Town's not putting the

(05:23):
team on his shoulders by himself, and you're gonna get Look,
guys like Jordan Clarkson will come in and get a
little bit more minutes and and you know, you will
get a little bit more production obviously, because someone's got
to come up make up for Brunson's you know, missing
twenty seven or thirty points in a game. But I
don't think there's also any coincidence that last night here's
the Knicks and they lose and Brunson plays poorly. And

(05:44):
the one thing you can't get pack when Brunson plays poorly,
the Knicks can't win. So you get to the playoffs,
you will. You're talking of this being a finals type
season for you, because hey, if the only team you're
really worried about right now are the Pistons, Okay, man,
let's go. This is our year. Hey, you gotta get
somebody else in there that you know, when it's not
Brunson's night, this guy can carry you, or he can

(06:06):
carry you on Knights, and Brunson Knight Brunson enough to
worry about carrying him. So you had the coincidence of
Karl Anthony Towns. They also think this story could have
broken any day. But after the Knicks lose yesterday and
Brunson's bed and they see their warts out there against
a bad Celtics team playing without anybody Jalen Brown in
a big night. But still this is not your this
is not your last year Celtics before the Jason Tatum injury,

(06:28):
the Celtics are a bad team. And despite that, you saw, oh,
we really still can't win if Brunson doesn't have a
good game. And now today, hey, guess what. Guess what, guys,
we're talking to the Bucks, his agent and Yan we're
talking Bucks about our future. And here's Adam Schefter and
Sham's going, hey, the Knicks are the only team that

(06:48):
he wanted to talk to in the offseason. I don't
think any of these things are unrelated that today, because
what are the odds that happens today after the Knicks
get that sober reminder yesterday of if Brunson doesn't play well,
they can't win the way this team is, and they'll
try to take them away in the playoffs. The teams
are younger, more athletic, they will try to say, listen,
we'll take Brunson away and we'll yeah, good luck. Carl
Anthony Towns trick. He's not gonna beat us, and nobody's

(07:10):
not gonna beat us. Josh Heart's not gonna beat us.
Bridges isn't gonna beat us. This is what we need
to do. None of this is unrelated.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Well, Bridges, I mean still had what thirty five Kat
went for twenty nine last night, I mean not exactly
bomb efforts, and Brunson had eleven assists against his three turnovers.
I'd also, you know, take some umbrage. If I'm a
Boston fan right now, I'd tell them to call in.
But we'll just send him to your twitter at How
about a Fresco stead. They're only two games back of you. Okay,

(07:38):
so they're not so they're not that bad. Come on, stay,
come on. You still have White, you still have Jalen Brown.
You still got two guys that can fill it up
and some some bench depth, Simons off the bench, et cetera.
You had a couple of your guys had really great game,
like Eminem says in eight Mile, they were living up here.
Now they got to start living down here. That's where
that's where it goes. But sometimes you gotta slow get

(08:00):
out and maybe you're not as good as you thought
you were exactly, which is why I always said from
the beginning of the year, either we're gonna be good
and it's great, or we're gonna underachieve and we're getting
Giannis at the door. You've been trying to existence. Yeah, No,
there's no questions about it. That's why I'm happy. Man.
I'bout all the way, whatever however it goes, Man, I will.

(08:21):
I know that that, Hey, Karl, Anthony Towns and O
gianno noob, make them make the money work, are probably
gonna be the guys to go so okay, all right,
to get Yanni Sai all right, that's how it's gonna go.
Two huge piece honest, yo, honest, yah, between you, he's
yelling Lakers. He's sending me that grasp the Lakers. All

(08:43):
the pieces you would trade for Yannis. You can't trade him.
You got to keep Scotty pipping Austin Reeves. Honest, you can't.
You can't trade Autin, dude. Look at look how good
you are to give back it out.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
How about this Lebron for Jannis right now, straight up,
Lebron right now, Lebron, Lebron and.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Brownie for you. Honest, No, they can't have Bronnie. But
that's that's sweet the bridge. That's the sweetener. Lebron and
Brownie and you get your honest and Bryce will give
you the rights to Bryce as well whenever that happen,
will give your brother immediately. Anybody associated with basketball operations
in Milwaukee is fired. Look, and never get to work

(09:21):
anywhere near a basketball court. They can't paint the lines
on an outdoor court after making a deal like that,
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
But look, nothing is changed with Giannis. Right, this is
where we knew in the off season he was getting antsy. Right,
when you're thirty, you want a championship in Milwaukee? All right,
what's my I want to win again? A right, I
want to win again. It's been great, it's been a
great run here, but starting to get a little bit
of happy feet because the team's not getting better. We changed,
we changed personnel, didn't work. Brought in Damian Lillard didn't

(09:51):
work right, brought in Doc Rivers did work. No, but
it's not my fault.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
So yeah, it's just natural that Jannis is gonna say, Okay,
I need to get somewhere else. I need to get
somewhere else because I want to win the back half
of my career. It'll be a shorter back half his career,
being a bigger guy like that, He's not gonna be
playing this level when he's thirty eight years old. So
you're looking at Gianni's the next.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Three to four years, hopefully is when you still have
him as one of the top five players in the game.
So yeah, it's only natural if this is how it goes.
And by the All Star Break he'll be dealt right
and and and the Knicks I'm sure will be the
first team. Say, do you really feel how good we
are about this team? I mean, there's no there's no
there's no reason that the Knicks couldn't make this happen.

(10:34):
Considering it seems like they're Yannis's preferred destination and they
have the money, and they have the talent, and they
have the players to make it work. So what the
players are going to be what it winds up being
that that's gonna be the bit. I think it's going
to be towns in Anonobe, some kind of situation like that.
But by the All Star Break, Yannis will be on
another team. Now things got changed a little bit tonight

(10:56):
with Giannis and when he might wind up playing again,
because this this is what happened in the middle of
the Bucks game tonight, and who knows when we see
Yannis next.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I cast it at the mid range, and that's the key.
Janis Janis is down.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Lisadn't look good.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
It does not look good. And ye Us Jim surely
just moments ago, walking on his own power back to
the locker room with the medical staff following him.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
You know what this means. What does this mean, prosper
It means we don't have to give up Reefs anymore.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
He's a diminished asset. That was just ruey Hachimura.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Oh, they can have Lebron straight up.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yannis leaves the game. A Bucks radio network on the call.
Yannis leaves the game with a strained right calf. Now
it looked awful because it was a non contact injury.
Makes a great jump pass for a whop, and trying
to get back on defense, he just goes to the
ground and you're thinking, oh, my goodness, Achilles. And look,
we've seen right calf strains turn into full blown Achilles.
But right now the good news is that it is

(12:04):
a calf's right calf strain Gianna's pounding the floor a
little bit, you know, gets off the court. So you
start to wonder and you think about you think about this,
You really want to talk about how close this trade is.
Have we maybe seen Gianni's Playley's last game for the Bucks,
like at this point, now does he does he go
crazy to come back, or does he sit and say,
you know what, we're pursuing a trade. This is not

(12:27):
working out. I'm not gonna go back out there get
hurt and then all of a sudden, I'm untradeable and
I'm looking at next season. I'm gonna sit now until
we figure this out. Right, And because this is who knows, right,
calf strain a week, two weeks, whatever, it's gonna wind
up being. You wonder if, okay, well, you're getting to
the holidays and the All Star Breaks in a couple
of months. You wonder if the injury has hastened that

(12:50):
timeline a little bit. Well, okay, he's healthy, but he's
sitting out for a little while. It's gonna take a
little bit for the Bucks to figure out this deal.
It's not gonna be suddenly overnight where they're gonna say, okay,
here's a trade. They're gonna take talk to a lot
of different teams. They're going to try to bleed everything
they can. They're under no rush to make this move,
especially now that Giannis is hurt. So I wouldn't be
surprised if we had an extended time off for Giannis.

(13:10):
And really, you think about this could be the last
game he plays for the Bucks. If this trade is
gonna happen, if they're going forward, why would you want
him back out The teams are going to tell the Bucks,
don't put him back out there. We're trading.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
You're telling us he's good, like we're not gonna see medicals,
but you're telling us he's okay. Okay, don't put him
back out there, because if we're going to make a
trade for him, yeah, we want to make sure we
get him in our building, figure things out. We get
to look at him, don't put don't play him. I mean, really,
this could have been his last game.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
It might be ready for a December twenty fifth battle
against the Cavaliers at the Garden. How about that. Oh yeah,
I'm okay with that. Yeah, I'm okay. But I mean
we go through Milwaukee's history, right the championships the outlier.
A lot of first round or semi five you know
semi's exits, three straight first round exits. But this injury, uh,

(13:58):
just one that As you said, we've seen a lot
of these development into bigger injuries. We've also seen a
proliferation of calf strains uh this year and all that
that's very frequently diagnosed. It's the torn labor of Major
League Baseball from several years back. It's like we're learning
all about the human body. Now we know what a

(14:18):
calf is.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
So we've got that, but how it portends to other injuries, Yeah,
it's it's tough to put them back out there. And
as we know in the NBA, if you declare where
you want to go, you're getting there. It's just a
matter of when and how and what's the asking price.
Right with the Dopey rule in the NBA, you got
to make all the salaries match up and keep everybody happy.
But there's no bidding war like this is. This is

(14:41):
like when ad got traded to the Lakers, like there
was there was no reason to give them anything because
the next day can screw it up. Look, Donna Mitchell
wanted to be a nick and Danny Ain't said nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope,
not doing it. So Donovan Mitchell comes up the lot
because remember we did that story. They can still screw

(15:01):
it up. Man, It's the NIXT. Nothing is for certain.
They can still screw it up. You can still see that.
Don't worry, but think about that. Tonight could have been
the last game Yann has played for the button. Right
with everything going forward in the drama and the injury
and the trade, maybe he does. Maybe this is it
for him. Who did he give his shoes to? I
want those shoes.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Man, to the guy in on Detroit that took the
basketball from him when he wanted it for his fifty
point game. Exit up about Fresco exit Swallowing down The

Check us out on YouTube and subscribe Fox Sports Radio
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmony. And
how about the Milwaukee Bucks with a one point lead
over the Pistons right now? Yannis may get traded? Then
who's that guy? Then he got hurt tonight And here
they are with a minute left to go and they

(16:38):
lead the Pistons by one. Look at the brocin No, no,
we can't lose it. We have to we have to
do something. Let's go win this game for Yannis. Maybe
you'll stay. I need these minutes. Look how good I am?
I can replace this guy. He's already out of here. Yeah,
he's already moved. He's ice skating next to Rocketfella center.
Let's go give me the ball, give me the ball. Hey,

(17:00):
there's gonna be a lot of shots out there. I'm
ready for him, just like I could do it, Coach,
I can do it. Just let me go, let me go,
give it to me.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Uh so again again, this is the worst thing for
the next because now maybe Jannis is thinking, oh, look
at them, come up with a win against the best
team in the Eastern team with the best record in
the Eastern Conference, and.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Oh, maybe we are going to have a great year. No,
I want to stay. Well, it's gonna happen. It's gonna
ruin him going to the next Sometimes you play up
to the competition, challenge accepted, and maybe Giannis is a
little inspired coming out of this. Say, look at my guys,
Look at my guys. Come on, Pistons, Come on. All
I needed was to be moderately broken for a day.

(17:37):
Look at me. Come on, Kate Cunningham, let's see a
three ball here. Come on, guys, you'd never rooted for
the Pistons, So are you love the Piston let guy?
Three years ago you predicted greatness for them. That didn't transpire.
They got the Lions almost there. But now they hate
you there too. Uh you jump back on the Pistons,
and now you're looking for Kate Cunningham to give you
greatness one more time.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Oh man, so again a little bit less than a
half minute left to go, Bucks lead it by one,
and everybody saw the fans standing up.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
They're all wearing Gianni's jerseys.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
It's just so awkward right now, this is so awkward,
but we have to play the day coming your way
right now. The play of the day is, of course,
brought to you by tire rack dot Com for over
forty years. Tire Rack's been open customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive. Ship fast
and free back by free Road has a protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tireraq dot Com

(18:31):
is the way tire buying should be. And well, when
when you know that if Jannis gets traded to your team,
you're likely the guy going the other way, you.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Want to make sure I have a big game on
that day, and Karl Anthony Towns did, so he gets
to be the play of the day.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
Jason the Lakers didn't play tonight, so we but we
have the team that's getting honest, there's no highlight.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Dude, You're just I mean, that's not happening.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Man. If you're not gonna put Browny in the trade
with Lebron there.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
If you want to toss to the Carl highlight, as in,
the team that's not getting honest, go ahead the runner ups.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Here's a team that isn't getting you honest yet. And
here's the play of the day, Towns looking away reverse
highlight chance of Karl Anthony Towns puts the icing on
the cake. It's a sixteen point Nick glar.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
So there was NIXT Radio Network on the call again,
a big thirty five and eighteen night for Karl Anthony
Towns on the day that hey, Giannist might get deled.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Hey all right, there's a couple of great games for
him back to back though, Oh yeah, yeah, I mean
personally undred percent, because you know, this has been swirling
for months like this is not a new revelation now,
it's it's back in the news and back in the
churn of the twenty four hour news cycle. Yeah, but
you know, for for Can, I gotta imagine his entire offseason,
he's been thinking about where his next next digs would be.

(19:51):
Is he done? How shopping? I don't know, do you
think that he finished the game and he saw that
Jannis had a cash and he goes, I didn't need
to do that to ninety dive. I'm bigs. I worked
my ass off against Charlotte's. It's the only guy who're
trading for to replace me. Guys should have taken some
time off tonight. Why did I Why did I really
extend myself here? I didn't need to do that tonight. Man, Fine, whatever,

(20:14):
man ain't gonna trade me anyway. I'm I'm gonna find
a way out. That's what's gonna happen. Uh. So again, yes,
all the drama with Yannis potentially uh pursuing a trade,
he and his agent talking to the Bucks about his future.
Now the Yanness injury is out there. You know, a
non contact calf strain tonight he goes down right now,

(20:34):
it is a calf strain, Uh, not anything worse. So
hopefully things are okay for y honest and again it
was it wasn't a full blown Achilles you would have
had that by now. It was a cat. Now calf
strains turned into other things. Not to say this will
but it has become an issue. So I will say
this before we get to Chris Paul, this story really
hot and heavy today. Yannis, the trades. We have to

(20:56):
understand that this is now what's going to happen with
the honest being injured. It's not gonna be something that
happens quickly. It will happen over the course of the
next month or so. Think this is gonna be a
slow burn because you want to make sure he's healthy
when you trade him again. We talked about teams not
wanting him to get hurt, like I wonder if he's
played his last game for the Bucks while they figure
this out. This is not a trade that's gonna go

(21:17):
down tomorrow or this weekend, probably not even by maybe
Christmas Day. But I would say this is gonna be
at least a month until we figure out a trade.
Giannis gets a clean bill of health, he's back playing,
he is okay, then you'll see teams okay now trade.
So this is gonna be a great drama. But I
don't know that we're gonna see a lot of movement
on this for at least until probably the beginning of this.

(21:37):
We'll be curious to watch is particularly with your nix
how much Well, for lack of a better term load
management comes into play here over these next couple of
weeks for Ogiananobi and Karl Anthony Towns. Right, if this
is gonna drag out, as you say, like let's let's
put the other line to run with it is, well,

(21:59):
if those guys are gonna be part of the deal,
you can't exactly expose them to thirty eight minutes. And
I know Daniel g just got clear for contact so
when he comes hopefully soon as he is back. But
uh no, I think if you're a Karl, you got
to make the bucks feel good about the guy that's
going to be the centerpiece of the trade.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Sell sell Jalen Will we know you're the guy. Okay,
just between you, you're the guy. But really set up
set up cat right, because we got to be able
to Is there.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
A cat tracker now going on with the radio stations
in the Greater mill Atwalk area. Yeah, they're going they're
getting away from holiday programming, music programming, going right to
the car all Karl Anthony Snott nora At It's how
did he operate in the low post?

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Uh So again, that's how it's gonna go next, That's
how it's gonna go for you. Honest, it's gonna be
you know, a few weeks before. I think that the
injury throwing a big, big question mark into all of
these plans because now there is gonna be okay, how
healthy is he? How long will he be out? So
there is going to be that part of it now.
The other big dry today Chris.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Paul is no longer remember the Los Angeles Clippers pretty
much when you and I got off the air last night,
Chris Paul was told his services were no longer About that, yeah,
from the team right GM Lawrence Frank saying earlier today
that they have decided to part ways with Chris Paul.
And in the ensuing hours we found out the relations
with Chris Paul and the coaching staff were in great

(23:21):
Apparently he and ty Lou were not speaking. Chris Paul
very outspoken with the Clippers being terrible, probably doing his
old Chris Paul, I know more than anything else than
everybody else about this team and going forward, because that's
what Chris Paul's kind of been, and his holding the coaches,
holding the players accountable. I can understand from the Clippers

(23:43):
saying yeah, we can't have that here, not from a
guy who is not our starting point guard, who's playing
just a few minutes a game, that we're hoping that
we're here because you want to have a great final
season in the NBA, right, We're hoping this is gonna
be great pr for both of us and you can
come back to the place where you had the best
success of your career and it's gonna be great for
all of us. But instead you're barely playing and you're
a little bit too much of a voice for someone

(24:05):
who is going anti where we are as far as
the front office goes. So because of this, Chris Paul
is out with the Clippers. Now.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
The big takeaway from this because you've heard a lot
of different things today and we always want to give
you something a little bit different the way you've heard
all day. Chris Paul, it is not surprising to me
that this is how his career is ending because Paul,
for his whole career has been someone who's done it
his way for good and bad. Right, He's done great
things players association, He's done wonderful things. Teammates, you know,

(24:37):
they all love playing with him, standing up for teammates.
He's someone that wants to win again. Trying to hold
the players accountable during a season. He's in a lot
of good things. He's also in a lot of things
that greats on your teammates, the greats on teams. His
ability with the Clippers to think that I'm gonna be
able to do whatever I want to. I'm going to
try to shoot from the other side of half court

(24:59):
and get a foul call Bomby, I'm gonna get the
shooting foul and the playoffs which helps send them home
a big year where they could have got to the
Western Conference finals. Like Chris Paul has always been that
guy that, yes, I do it my way, and sometimes
that's great and you can look in the mirror and say,
you know what, at the end of the day, Yeah
I did it my way and it was awesome and
I had this career. But the flip side of it

(25:20):
is it doesn't always help you. It doesn't always help you,
and and you wind up running the risk of upsetting
the teams you play for upsetting some of your teammates,
and this is how it ends for you being waved
in the middle of the night by by the Clippers
and people wake up going it happened at three o'clock
and them they decided at three o'clock. Was there a
big of you know, late night meeting in a hotel

(25:42):
that Chris Paul is saying, we can't do this and Lawrence,
Frank and Tyler were saying, yes we can.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
No, we can't. Well, you're cut. That's it.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
We're letting you go like that's the That's the downside
of doing it your way is that it doesn't always
go the way you think it's gonna go. And you
have to live with that too. That's a look in
the mirror moment too. And I see that because I
always that's how I want. I want things in my life,
in my career my way. And I get that, and
I'm very comfortable when I think of things that have
gone on in my career and things that are hopefully

(26:09):
coming or whatever it's gonna be, that, Yeah, I'm doing
it my way and I'm doing what I want to do.
I'm doing it this way.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Now. Is that always the best thing for me? No,
it's not, because I have to understand that that when
I want things my way, there's certain things that are
going to fall by the wayside, or certain opportunities that
I'm not gonna get because I want to do things
my way. So I understand Chris Paul's thing of it.
N I understand this part of it. But that's the
risk you run, and especially at the end where you

(26:34):
know this is your last year and it's awesome that
you want to hold your team to a higher standard,
But dude, your team is terrible. Man, the team is bad.
We knew the team was gonna be bad. We're gonna
keep giving money to guys who're thirty five and forty
years old. That's I told you in the preseason. It's
not gonna works when the Clipper We're gonna keep giving
money to Kawhi Leonard and James Harden and keep doing

(26:54):
this and keep doing this and keep doing this, right,
I get that. But you know it's awesome that you're
like that, but also understand this is the end, and
is this how you want to go out? You wanted
to go out.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
I'm back with the Clippers for my final year and
it's going to be a celebration of me for basketball,
and instead now it's an embarrassment getting waived in the
middle of the night. And now who knows. I gotta
think I'd like to think a team is going to
pick them up to play, but they maybe they don't.
And this is how it ends for Chris Paul, who
already announced this was his last year. So that's the
good and bad about doing things your way is that

(27:26):
you have to understand that, Okay, sometimes it's gonna be
great and sometimes it could be bad. And this was
really bad the way it ended.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Yeah, I mean, do you look at the opportunity to
go back to you know, where it reclaim some glory
joining there by the way, the Clippers are only paying
so much of Kawhi's salary through basketball means just so
you know, like the rest of it is off the
books for tree planting or whatever the case may be.
But when you make the decisions personal professional, right, you

(27:54):
assume some level of risk, some level of trust, all
of those things. And yeah, there's plenty that you have
no control of. Nor do you can you control how
your message is received if you just read it in
cold ard facts like trying to hold people accountable, well
they stink. So yeah, if it's buttoning up the details

(28:16):
and playing a little tighter defense or running your sets
a little bit better, I mean, what's the problem with that?
I mean, obviously we're not in the building. They decided
it was a bridge too far and it wasn't going
to change anything for a guy at fourteen minutes a game,
and who's not a difference maker, right, He's just filling
out stat sheets at this point. And that goes back

(28:36):
to the age old sports or general business. Wherever you
work out there, you know this. The star gets a
little more latitude, all right, the one who's got the
eye of the bosses gets a little more latitude with
how they approach things, maybe a little more creature comforts. Whatever.
You're at the end of your run. You've already announced
it's your last year. So all they did was keep

(28:57):
you from getting any giveaways from other opponents who want
to boudy a little bit to say, hey, congratulations on
a job done. Could have been handled better? Yeah, I
mean it's a bit unseemly. Could they have waited until
they came back to Los Angeles and then had a
little hey, let's just go do this in front of
some microphones and be done. Sure, but in the end

(29:20):
it's the clippers. Would you expect it to be neat
and clean? No exit at about a fresco exit, swalling
down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike
Carmon time not to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports from someone who's been called the
Chris Paul of Fox Sports Radio. Apparently she had big
news at three am last night. It's Moncey Blagos.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
And we're gonna have to just to let everybody know,
gonna have to help Moncy out tonight, the great Clipper
fan that she is. They won having to wave goodbye
to the point God, Chris Paul, Moncy.

Speaker 7 (29:56):
You know, I don't really agree with you, guys.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
I'm not saying you're crazy and what you're saying, I
just don't necessarily are.

Speaker 7 (30:05):
With what you are saying.

Speaker 5 (30:07):
Because if everyone knows Chris Paul's attitude, then why did
you bring him on for the final year?

Speaker 7 (30:14):
If we're very, very familiar familiar.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
With Chris Paul's way of being, why would the Clippers
bring him on?

Speaker 7 (30:21):
What are you surprised about?

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Oh, the Clippers aren't blameless in this, No, no, this
was what's Chris Paul's legacy going on?

Speaker 5 (30:27):
It just seems like everyone's going after Chris Paul here,
and I just like, even if He was harsh with
his words that you guys are asked, because you are asked,
why can't you put on your big boy pants and
just suck it up?

Speaker 7 (30:41):
You got to fire a guy at.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
Three am who's been who was one of the biggest
faces of the franchise.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
Oh wait, I can explain that, you hang on, I
got I have the research. Now I can hang on. Clippers.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Yes, yeah, and you're right, and you're and you are
you're not You're not wrong about that, You're not wrong
about that. But this is like the Clipper just are
just really rough to defend. Right now, what's that guy's name,
Lawrence Frank? Fire that guy, Fire that guy, Fire that guy,
Fire that guy, give her that guy, because none of
them says exactly as I told you off air.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
You saw how I felt. Really fire that guy because.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Why why, why why did you sign Bradley Beal.

Speaker 7 (31:21):
Let's start with that one. First of all, how dare you.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
I can't even defend himself literally he's hurt.

Speaker 5 (31:27):
Yeah, no, even if he was alive and well and whatever,
he can't defend himself.

Speaker 7 (31:31):
So just fire that guy. All right?

Speaker 5 (31:33):
All right, Well, we'll have Clippers Talk Part two in
the next hour. One game is still going on in
the NBA. It's an early night in the NBA, though,
because this is the final one. The rest have wrapped
up the heat or have cut their deficit. They were
losing by double dijuice, but they've cut their deficit to
six to six against the Mavericks in Dallas, Mavericks are
up one ten to one oh four with about three
and a half minutes to go in this one. The

(31:55):
Trailblazers defeated the Cavaliers in Cleveland one twenty two to
one ten, and yes, everybody was playing for.

Speaker 7 (32:00):
Cleveland for the most part.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Nuggets took one thirty five to one twenty win over
the Pacers, where Jamal Murray dropped fifty two points. It
came down to some free throws, but the Spurs beat
the Magic one fourteen to one twelve. Those free throws
were made by Deerren Fox, who had thirty one points
in the win.

Speaker 7 (32:15):
Yeah, the Clippers beat the Hawks.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
One fifteen to ninety two, LA, snapping their five game
losing streak. The Knicks over the Ornets went nineteen to
one oh four. Carl Anthony Towns with a double double
thirty five points and eighteen rebounds. The Bulls have now
lost five in a row. They lost to the Nets
at home, one thirteen to one oh three. What's going
on in Chicago? The Rockets Cruz passed the Kings one
twenty one ten ninety five, alperinchin Goon twenty eight points

(32:38):
and ten rebounds, and the Bucks without Yannis Sante Takoumpo
for most of the game. They were down eighteen points
at one point, and they came back to beat the
Pistons one thirteen to one oh nine.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
You don't need them anymore trading, you don't need them
it n Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
Yannis went down on an on contact injury. They say
it's a right calf strain. When it comes to men's
college tubs, two undefeated teams.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Have now lost.

Speaker 5 (33:03):
Number twenty five Arkansas handed number six Louisville their first
loss of the season, coming out on top eighty nine
to eighty and Minnesota defeated number twenty two Indiana seventy
three sixty four for their first loss of the season.
In the NHL, the Mammoth are up on the Ducks
right now, two zero halfway through the first period. Capitals
over the Sharks three zero late in the first period
and just in the NFL, the Buccaneers opened a twenty

(33:25):
one day practice window for wide receiver Mike Evans.

Speaker 7 (33:28):
He also practiced today.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
Ravens tight end Mark Andrews signed a three year, thirty
nine million dollar extension. Lions wide receiver im and Ross
Saint Brown is questionable for Thursday Night Football as the
Lions will be hosting the Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (33:39):
Back to you, guys, thanks.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
A bunch raving Chris Fall, as Dan Patrick used to
say on Sports Center, among the things you won't be
seeing Christ Paul back with the Clippers. Yes, exit Out,
out of Fresco, Exit Swollen Dome. Jason Smith Mike Harmon
Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. We got more
basketball on the way, but coming up next another new, fresh,

(34:02):
crazy angle to the biggest football story of the last
two and a half days. That's next Jason and Mike Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Hey spoiler alert. Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon. Was he a better
Jedi or wizard?

Speaker 7 (34:38):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Whoa much better Dracula? No? No, no he oh well,
I mean come on, okay, in order Dracula, then Jedi
than wizard. Okay, he got all the way to the
top of the Jedi wined in. I mean, but there's
only one Dracula. Well, I mean with those bell Legosi
and Jordan's sucked on the Wizards. There was Yeah, that
is true.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Okay, so okay, So so it's it's it's Dracula, Douku
Wizard and then Jordan.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
All right, so we were right there. Christopher Lee as
is always first my friend Jordan. No matter what rankings
you want, christ no matter which world or universe, Christopher Wizard.
Christopher Lee is a wizard greater than Jordan. He was
still a twenty point a game score. Oh if you
put Chris Christopher Lee on on the Wizards and he
made him a basketball play, he's at thirty point a

(35:22):
game guy. Easy see how tall he is. He's a
tall dude.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Man.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
He'd be fine just jumping into the low post going
to work. So another day, another great dollop of drama
involving everybody's favorite head coach, Lane Kiffin. Yeah, it was
last night we brought you the story that a couple of.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Players on Ole miss said that, yeah Kiffin's account that
he wanted to stay and they told him no, uh
what the big the big message that he put out
when he left, saying, I prayed on it, I wanted
to stay, but the ad wouldn't let me. You know,
all the kids wanted me to stay and coach the team.
A couple of players said, yeah, that's not how that

(36:03):
meeting went down. That's not what anybody said. And today
you had the athletic director also dispute Lane Kiffin's version
of events, as Keith Carter won on a podcast today,
super Talk Mississippi, and said that Super Talk he sas
a lot of things publicly, I'm not sure totally accurate.
He's just missing it's just not totally accurate that that

(36:25):
the players said they wanted Lane to stay. The only
thing he was able to confirm was that Sunday was
the day they figured you are not going to coach
the team anymore, right like that. That's that's the only
part that Lane Kiffin said that was able to be
confirmed by the ad.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Everything else has shades of gray. It was Sunday, Yeah,
it was Sunday. It was after midnight, yeah, Sunday, right,
I got Sunday. Right. So now here's another is the
ad saying, hey, the lane Kiffin process of events not
quote totally accurate. So now in the last twenty four
hours you had the A D and you've had two
players say not how the meeting went, nobody basically saying

(37:02):
nobody asked them to stay, nobody wanted them to stay.
Uh and lane Kiffin put this out on a statement. Anyway.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
I always it's always weird that that that you can
have somebody say something. I don't know why you would
put out a statement when you know it can be
so easily disproven. Like, I don't know why you would say, yeah,
the players wanted me to stay. When you say that,
and you know what's gonna happen. Everyone's got a Twitter account,
someone's gonna say something that's an awful lot of people, right.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
It's like the conspiracy theories, like as soon as there's
more than one other person, it's a problem. That's an
easy thing to be disproven. It's you in a room
of one hundred and twenty guys. If you have a
different version of events than the other one hundred and
twenty guys, that's gonna get out right. That's good. It's
not like people are gonna believe Lane. I believe Lane
Kiffin over all the other players. No, no, no, no, no, that's
not gonna happen. He's bounced around a bunch. There's already

(37:49):
some incredibility lapses in his professional career that folks are
gonna be like, yeah, no, outside with the kids, especially
as they all take to Twitter one after the next.
So my pr advice to him would be, dude, don't
say something that can be disproven so easy. That's gonna
wind up being embarrassing for you, because that's what this
is now. It's embarrassing for Lane Kiffin. Right.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
But this reinforces what we talked about late in the
show last night that there's not been a more hated
football coach NFL college football the last twenty five years
than Lane Kiffin. Now, you can talk about some some
people who are hat like you want Brian Kelly at LSU.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Okay, all right, we went down there.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
There's a bunchy Brian Kelly LSU okay, okay, but nobody
has this sheer number of teams that Lane Kiffen has
hate him. This is where like if two people break up, right,
and you get a story from one X that oh, yeah, yeah,
I knew that was gonna happen because so and so
he likes to do this, and he'd you know, blah

(38:51):
blah blah blah. You could go, okay, well, who knows,
because that's what he said. She said kind of thing.
But this is where, hey, you got seven x's saying, yeah,
man can't stand this guy because he always does stuff
like this, Right, They hate him with the Raiders, they
hate him. They hate him at Tennessee, they hate him
at USC, they hate him at Alabama, they him at
Florida Atlantic. Now they hate him at all miss and
they all hate hate him. They just not like, hey,

(39:13):
we brought the guy in as a coach. It didn't
work out. It's too bad, he's stunk, but we're moving on. No,
this is absolute hatred that these teams have for him
because of how his tenure went and how he left.
That's why there's nobody more hated him, because no teams
hate any coach more than Lane Kiffin is hated by
all of these teams.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
Well, in the Seinfeld universe, you would just be called
a bad breaker rupper, and it's just the end game,
even if it's inevitable. And it was, right Lanek, if
it was there a while, he was moving to another
school eventually, right, or back to the NFL. Right, He's
not staying at Old Miss for the rest of s career.
He's a young man, right, That's the thing to remember
in all this, Like whatever we get into his coach,

(39:53):
he's like, this is a guy, this is even a
guy that's like sixty eight and he, you know, deciding
his football motel. He's just deciding what's the next best
jump up?

Speaker 6 (40:04):
Right?

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Is it a minty step or is he taking a leap?
And so as soon as this started to swirl and
become a thing, as in season, we had what became
a very odd set of circumstances with some heavyweight jobs
that are suddenly danging in front of him. The old uh,
you know, you're only as loyal as your options kind
of thing that it was brought to bear pretty fast.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
I Mean, there's coaches that are hit. Nobody is hated
by more teams than Lincoln.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
Well, especially if you're going to take a bunch of
quarter truths or half truths into the media about all
the other thing we could be pretty sure of because
he did prey on it and thought and sought some
people out for some advice. Exit up out a Fresca,
Exit swollen Dome. Chas and Smith Mike Harmon coming up next,
More football on the Way. Two NFL team's former superstars.

(40:52):
Apparently you're trying to get that team's current coach fired
Fox and Mike Tomlin was never a warm and fire
he won, but it worked. They were able to win.
It's a lot of winning.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
They were able to do it, win the super Bowl.
You know, it's a it's a really you got to
hand it to both those guys and all the guys
that played to get to and win super Bowls. When
a the coach and the quarterback, we're not best friends,
but we can still find a way to get through it.
But now that Mike Tomlin is circling the drain, like
I feel like Mike Tomlin is is uh is walking
along and and like you hear that noises and buzzards

(41:29):
you know ahead like going, I got a dead man
walking right here.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
This is he he's getting he's getting fired. Man. The buzzards,
the buzz are just circling and and uh, Will Arnett
is singing from ice age food, glorious food. Uh. There
has been no more momentum towards Mike Tomlin being fired
or reached some sort of agreement to let go, to
be let go from the Steelers than it is right now. Look,

(41:53):
we talked about this in the preseason, you know, we say,
ahead of the curve, you understand that this was going
to be the last year for time. That the twenty
twenty four season was barely enough with the strategy they
had and Tomlin's belief and I know what we need
to do with the quarterbacks, and boy, that did end
badly with Russell Wilson. So now this year, even though

(42:15):
he got his contract extended, Look, Steel's do things the
right way. We're not going to have a guy in
a lame duck kind of situation. We're going to do this.
It's not not a good way to do business. But
you knew that this was going to be it. And
now the Steelers are absolutely floundering. They decide we're going
to go the cheap route for a quarterback again with
Aaron Rodgers and it's not working. And now you know that, Okay,
what's going to happen at the end of the year.

(42:38):
Ben Roethlisberger on the Footballing Podcast Former Steelers Legend, Who
is again? We say that, I say this about Roethlisberger
all the time. A network's going to hire him and
they're going to have the next great analyst kind of.
I said the two best guys, right were Cam Newton
and Ben Roethlisberger. And who's making a lot of headlines
now that he's been brought on as a full time analyst?
Cam Newton? Right, I told you these two guys. So
here's Roethlisberger on his Football and podcast, not just trolling

(43:01):
Mike Tomlin, but he actually has an idea for another job. Yeah,
if he.

Speaker 6 (43:06):
Would leave the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's being talked about around
here a lot. Maybe it's time, Maybe it's a cleanhouse time,
Maybe it is Maybe it's time. And I like coach Tomlin.
I have a lot of respect coach Tomlin. But maybe
it's best for him too. Maybe maybe a fresh start
for him is what's best, whether that's in the pros,
whether maybe go be Penn State's head coach. You know
what he would do in Penn State. He'd probably go

(43:28):
win national championships. Legitate because he wouldn't have a losing season.

Speaker 1 (43:33):
No, he wouldn't. The synapses were firing really fast. And hey,
maybe I'm saying that sounds like a great That sounds
like Roethlisberger trying to find a way to say, listen,
the Pittsburgh Steelers need new leadership, and they do. They
just need a new voice at this point, right need
a new voice. And you think, okay, well, here's Roethlisberger
saying a nice thing about it. No, no, he's saying,

(43:54):
you need to go back to knowing full well, going
back to college after you're coaching. You're Bill Belichick now
without the girlfriend. Like this is it. It's embarrassing for
an NFL head coach to say, Okay, now I have
nothing else to do but go back to college. And
now I'm I've been to the head coach and I've
won super Bowls, but now the best place for me

(44:14):
is to go back to college. This is Roethlisberger completely
stomping on Mike Tomlin because he can and say, hey, listen,
you know everybody sees it. Now here's Mike Tomlin, who
maybe go back win national championships at Penn State. No, no, no,
he is still trolling the crap out of Tomlin with that. Yeah,
maybe you go to college take over for James Franklin.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
I mean it's something we talked about in terms of
the Penn State job and nobody what's that word wants
it or phraseology, I guess. But for for Mike Tomlin, look,
he's still better than how many coaches, right, We'll still
put them up on the pantheon of great motivators coaches
because it's all blends back together. Right, the x's and

(44:57):
o's versus getting guys to rise up in a seventeen
game season, it still gets it done. So you're under
contract through twenty twenty seven. So I don't think he's
walking away from it. I think they either come to
a nice, big buyout or they trade him, right, because
there's plenty of places giants are the one that we've

(45:17):
been talking about quite a bit of that's like personality fit.
Yeah right, it's not going to be it's not gonna
be your out the day after all of a sudden
he gets called into an office not on because it's
also the Steelers, right. You know, we were talking about
the Chris Paul situation before. It's like you gotta have
a fall guy, right, and when you're the star, you
have a much larger voice. If you're a role player,

(45:39):
you're not for the Steelers. It's just always the curiosity
to me, it's like do the gms really do anything?
Or do they do what he tells them to? Right?
So like that dynamic is curious to me. What does
Omar Khan? What's his culpability in how this roster is constructed?
Because we went through some of the salaries yesterday, find
the full conversation of the podcast to you know, compartmentalize

(45:59):
and shrink it down for bite sized consumption. Here, you know,
your top four guys are defenders and as a collective
they make about seventy million dollars, two of whom are
well north of thirty in terms of you know where
they're at and their football timelines. You're seeing it week
to week. You have no idea what you're getting from

(46:20):
that side of the ball, what kind of pass rush
you're getting, what kind of opportunity. I mean, look at
the Bears just ran all over them, just just like
there was no heart at all when they when they
played them. But we look at just the the opportunity
for the Steelers and for Tomlin to recognize, all right,

(46:40):
the wind streak is great, Like you can't just diminish
it because it's it's unlike anything we've seen. But at
some point you've got to have the postseason success. And
that's long been bandied about and long just debated about
where Tomlin is. But for the veterans, the legends of
the organization to be like, yeah, here's your here's your
kind of you know, they should go. And for Penn State,

(47:02):
I mean, it's not a terrible idea on the grand
scale because that is what he's always cited as, right,
the recruiter, the motivator. Wait, he's a great recruit. He's
been coaching in the NFL for twenty years. You tall me,
he's a great recruiter. We just gotta come. It's not
like he's Harbaugh where he just came from college football.
He's a great record. But I've been at the game
over twenty years. But I think part of that is
just the personality, not necessarily the bring you into the building,

(47:24):
but keep you engaged, because that's the other part of
recruiting now, right, we talk about in college all the
time with the amount of ability and flow where you
only have these guys basically for a year before they
want to leave. You got them perform months on campus,
and you have to keep them happy the entire time,
their families, their hangers on, their managers and everybody else.
Can you imagine him saving money with Penn State by

(47:45):
going after like a two star quarterback. No, hey, listen,
we don't want to you. So what I did in
the pros with Fields and Wilson and Rogers five star guys,
at you're a two star guy. We're not gonna really
give you a lot of nil money. We're gonna We're
just gonna make it work with you. But that's where
it always gets. We get into this weird spot because
I mean, you're a Jets guy, like right now, on

(48:06):
on top of the world of what the Bears are doing.
But I've watched it for years. It's been a disaster,
right quarterback after quarterback after quarterback and no winning to
go with it with the Steelers since Roethlisberger left, no
matter how bad, And you can run through them. It's
a laundry list, not as long as the jerseys that
go around Cleveland that look like capes. At this point,
forty two quarterbacks since nineteen ninety nine have started a game.

(48:29):
You're not quite to that level, but they still end
up on the plus side of five hundred every year.
It's like, that's just wrong, Like, at no point has
it truly bitten him in the ass or the GM
or just the Roody family as a whole, Like, Eh,
we're still cruising along right in the meaty part of
the curve all the time. Now, before you tell you

(48:50):
how this is gonna end, you gotta hear from James Harrison,
who look one of the great linebackers in Pittsburgh Steeler history,
enjoyed the best years of his career when he played
for my Tomlin. Yeah, he's also not shedding tears for
the Steelers head coach.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
You tell me where there's a good coach on this staff,
because right now I don't see anybody planning to their potential.
Mike Domlin is in control of hiring coaches, and he
may not be the one coaching the position, but he
is in position to hire the coaches to get the

(49:26):
potential out of our players, and right now he has
not put coaches in the position that can get the
potential out of what it.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
Is that we have. Something has to be done, Bro,
And I know.

Speaker 3 (49:44):
The Stellers historically don't move on from coaches, but I
think it's time that history be made, because right now
the only history room making is being the worst Pittsburgh
Stiller team statistics almost in the history of the organizaety.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
So there's James Hart, very very emotional James Harrison. There.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
Great coaches get players to play to their potential. That's
not happening now. Look, this is gonna be Mike Tomlin's
last year in Pittsburgh, and it's it's not gonna end
with a big firing the day after. It will end
very as amicably as possible, where both sides agree it's
time for him to move on, or they could potentially.

(50:30):
I don't see the trade happen because then it gets
really messy in that kind of situation where it's gonna be, Hey,
we do things the right way, We're gonna part, you
know whatever, They figure out the money that you know
to and he's gonna go and he will go someplace
because you can't unring this bell that's been out there
for so long that Tomlin has passed his expiration date.
When you have fans channing fire Tomlin at the games,

(50:53):
and when you have fans booing when they play Renegade
in the fourth quarter to psych up the defense and
fans are booing it, you know, Okay, we need change
with the Steelers.

Speaker 7 (51:03):
We can't.

Speaker 1 (51:03):
We can't go forward with this again. We can't. We're
just it's the everybody is upset. We're in a bad place,
and quite honestly, you need a new voice. It can
get you to the modern era of football because Tomlin
is still he's trying to win like it's nineteen eighty
five with with a necessary evil at quarterback. And we're
not gonna go crazy for talent wise guys. But because
I had my fill with Roethlisberger and and Antonio Brown

(51:26):
and Le'Veon Bell and all those guys, I mean, he's
tried to go cheap on quarterbacks and he's tried to
not bring in guys that that could have a diva
type attitude that would rest try to fight him for
control of the team.

Speaker 2 (51:38):
But this is kind of how you win in the NFL.
With talented quarterback and a dynamic offense, right like what
they do in the offseason, went out and they bulked
up defensively and they you know, they extended guys, we're
gonna run the football, run the footbron you don't win
that way.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
Hey, they just brought in Adam Teelin and they let
Darius Slay go.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
And bringing guys that were good five years ago. Yeah,
but but that that's the whole thing is is that
you need you need to get into with the modern era.
Twenty twenty five is for football in the NFL. And
and the Steelers are not it, man, they are not.

Speaker 1 (52:06):
They are. But it comes back to the discussion of
winning versus winning again. You know, you and I look
at that and go, man, I wish I had that
every year. I wish I was complaining that my team was,
even if it's every year is a game about five hundred,
I'd like to be in that stratosphere to where I'm
playing mean like this is the first time the Bears
are playing meaningful football in December and not meaningful for

(52:29):
somebody else. Okay, so for Pittsburgh, you know you want
a bit more for James Harrison. You're in his voice. Look,
as soon as they hired Arthur Smith, what did I
tell you? Like? This offense is no longer Any hope
they had was dead right, because remember he had John
Robinson in a box for a years ago. We'll get,
We'll get. He's gonna get his touches.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
He didn't.

Speaker 1 (52:48):
You never saw my he engineer gives are the two
best running backs in the game. This guy kept him
in a box for a full year. But again for
the GMS, they got to answer some questions in this
process too. All right, of all right, why does he
have complete control over everything in terms of the quarterback position?

(53:09):
But you've been able to win by being on the
cheap and spending your money elsewhere. The league is turned.
Now you have to decide, you know, small W versus
Capitol W. You want to be great in the playoffs again? Yeah,
well he'll be. It's too much momentum going that way,
and everybody knows change is needed. And those fans were

(53:30):
all mad that Sticks announced that tour with Chicago. Is
that is that what it was all about? I mean,
come on, now, I'm gonna start playing Come sail Away
in instead of rente game. That's gonna happen. Fox Sports
Radio Dennis DeYoung along with my bes friend Tommy Shaw.
Coming up next, NFL insider Jason Call the latest on
the Steelers Elsewhere preview with a big Thursday night game

(53:50):
with the Cowboys and the Lions. That's next here, Jason
and Mike Fox. Can you take me high enough
