You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome in side our three, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the Fox
Sports Radio Studios where for all of my wife's family
in Detroit, here we go. I am drinking from the
diet coke of success for you because they can all
feel much better after beating the Cowboys tonight, thinking that

(00:50):
we can still win the NFC North.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
The diet coke of victory. Yeah, NFC North is still
up for grabs, but a huge win. We talked with
Jay Glazer just a couple of minutes ago. You go
back to that game against Cincinnati at Cincinnati, right, thirty
seven to twenty four win, that a lost to Kansas City,
that will win against Tampa, then a lost to Minnesota,
then all win against Washington a lost to Philly, a
win against the Giants, a loss to the Packers tonight

(01:14):
forty four points in a resounding Thursday night success.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
A big w for the Lions. And look, it's hard
because this is a year where there's no I mean,
last week says okay, well, the Rams are the best
team in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Clearly they are.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
And then they went out and they just lay an
absolute egg against the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Man, and come on, Canallas everybody's team? I'm like, I
started the Rams defense. How do they only have two
points against this team?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Come on? Man?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
But this is a year and you know, you hear
all the time all of the NFL. They like parody.
They like the fact that nobody is good. But that's
what we have this year. They're teams with good records,
but nobody is great, right, nobody is great? Now you're
hoping that over the course of December and plus and again.
It really is weird because we've you've only added one
more game the past few years to get to seventeen games,

(02:03):
but it feels like when you got five games left,
you still have a long way to go, right, four games, Like, oh,
we're almost there. A month away, but just that one
more game makes it seem like there's so much more happening,
and you know you're waiting for who's going to be
that team that steps up and has a big run
in December. Now it might be the Lions coming off
of tonight, clearly they had a big offensive performance and

(02:25):
joining us now on the hot line with us Jack
Campbell lines big night tonight, sack force fumble, Jack, congrats
on the win.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Thank you so yeah, can you hear it? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I got you all right, man, Hey, congrats on the
win tonight.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Thank you all right.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
So, big high scoring game. You had a couple of
big plays defensively. Was there a point in the game
where you felt, Okay, things are now going our way
and we have control of this game.

Speaker 6 (02:54):
I feel like I was in my mentality, but I
definitely gaining momentum throughout the game. But at the same time,
there's like taking it one play at a time and
just never being like satisfied and never falling into the
traff was like, oh, we're good, we can take our
foot off the gas. So there's really never one moment
I feel like in the game that I like so
like we were in a good spot. I just feel

(03:17):
like we just got to keep taking it one play
at a time, keep improving and learn from our mistakes.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
So yeah, good heavyweight battle twelve tackles for you on
the night. I mean, you hold him to.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
A bunch of brand and Aubrey Field goals, getting them
off the field's got to be feeling pretty good seeing
what you know coming into the game. You guys throwing
blows twenty nine plus points per game.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Yeah, No, it's definitely. I feel like we did a
good job and night. There's some things we need to
clean up, but I went to win and against that
team was arguably one of the hottest teams in the league.
We'll take it right.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
No, I did right and succeed and proceed.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
So I got to ask it because, you know, watching
him tonight, it's just incredible to see how good he is.
Has Jamior Gibbs ever gotten tackled in practice? Have you
guys ever been able to tackle him?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Because it's.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
Yeah, he's unbelievable, isn't he Just the way he can
move in space? And they do goss. He does a
great job, and I mean it's definitely a buzzing to
have mark team and it makes me better too, so
I appreciate him.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
I was gonna say that that's got to help in
practice because you're not you know, you not to dismiss
any other running backs, but yeah, some some step down
in class some weeks, right, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
No, exactly. He definitely makes us all better of the team,
hey Jack.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Before the game, Jane Slater of NFL put out a
video on Twitter about how she asked Dak Prescott what
he remembered from the last time they played you guys
in Detroit, and he said that we lit them up
a lot of passing yards. About to do it again.
She asked him if he could quote him on that.
He said, sure. Did you guys know about that quote
going in the game.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
I didn't. I did go out there and play. I mean,
I just I don't even reread total media so or
hear about anything. So I mean, good for him.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
He's a hell of a player.

Speaker 6 (05:04):
So, uh, we got out of here with the win.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
And I was gonna say, he got three seventy six.
That looks all fining good. But there's a giant W
next to.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
Your name, Jack. That's all That's all we care about
in the NFL, right, exactly.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Jack, congrats on the win. Thanks for stopping bile us
here at Fox Sports Radio. We'll talk to you down
the road.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Good luck, Thank you.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Hey go Hawks man, go Hawk be good. Do you
believe they did they didn't know, they didn't know about
the quote? You think that they might not have, though,
I think, see, here's the.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Thing is that maybe even ten twelve years ago, when
something happened on Twitter right before a game, I could
see where people wouldn't know. But yeah, I think now
almost instantaneously people people know.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Well someone I'm sure there was some fodder. Now, whether
it was you know, did you hear what Dak said?
And you know, here's a picture of Jane Slader's tweet.
I don't know, but but but certainly you know you're
you're trying anything from motivating. So I'm sure there was
a little bit of scuttle but on that. But I
believe in the plausible deniability of hey, that's not my thing.

(06:09):
Doesn't mean someone on them on the staff didn't say
something about, hey, Dak stalking like he's gonna get you.
And again he had three seventy six. They moved the
ball up and down right. The two turnovers This is
one of those unfortunate things. If people didn't watch the game,
they didn't see that, you know, a tip ball and
then literally the game sealer was ripped out of a
guy's hand, and maybe he maybe could have been overruled

(06:32):
on replay. But five sacks and ultimately a bunch of
Aubrey field goals, they get the job done. Six solo tackles,
twelve on the night.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
And all over Twitter right now are all pictures of
Dak Prescott with lights on him from Detroit fans going, hey,
we let you up.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
That I did those five sacks.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Certainly he got lit up a couple of times, no
question about it.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Now now look, thanks to Jack Campbell, a line stopping
by with us. Now look the Lions. We talked about
them seizing the narrative again. Maybe there maybe they are
that team, because look, there is there is part of
me where I think, boy, it's just not the same
for the Lions. But after two years of incredible playoff
runs like they had two years ago to the NFC

(07:17):
championship game, you fell just short last year, were the
best team in football all year and you had the
bad playoff game against the Commanders. There is part of
me that says, not quite that the Lions are bored,
but you know what, we prepare with everything we normally
do for a week, but really we have our eye
on January. And I think there is a part of
that for teams that spend a couple of years going

(07:38):
deep in the playoffs and so they falter a little
bit during the regular season. So I'll put a part
of that out there for the Lions that maybe they
could be the team that, hey, the last month they
really pick it up. But what really gets at me
is that, boy, this is what happens. This is why
the rams that put so much of an emphasis on
the regular season is that they don't want to play
that NFC title game in Philadelphia, Right. The Lions don't

(07:59):
want to be playing that NFC championship game in Philadelphia.
You don't want to be playing that game in Chicago, right.
You want to be playing at home where Jamiir, where
Jamiir Gibbs looks like he's absolutely unstoppable. You play that
game on the road doesn't mean you're not a good team.
But there's a reason why teams fight for home field
advantage in January.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Well, we were.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Talking about a lot, particularly with Jared Goff. That's been
one of the big narratives that's that's followed his career
is that cold weather games, it's not gonna work. It's
kind of like we talk about the Miami Dolphins as
a franchise, Right, he gets cold, they're on the road.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
It's not gonna end.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Well, but you look at what the Lion's schedule was
last week, a loss to Green Bay, all right, the
big Thanksgiving Day game. You come back with a win
against Dallas again indoors next week at the Rams. Well,
so far, while technically not a dome for all intents
and purposes, yeah, great, right, but structurally it cannot be

(08:51):
defined as a dome because it has those open ends.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
But there is no roof on it, so you can't
call it a dome. There is a gap by the end,
right like Harmon went to Northwestern just.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
So you no, no, but it's but it's always that
fun because we've had lightning delays and at so Fi
and people are like, well, it's a dome. Why are
there lightning delays? Like well, because technically, don't you.

Speaker 7 (09:13):
Know, I'm my Harmon and I just found out that
when the stadium's outside.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
It's not domes. I just found that out. Hey, Adrian,
just home again.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
It's Pittsburgh on the road at Minnesota, you.

Speaker 7 (09:28):
Know, and there's no roof. You know, you can't call
it indoors. It's still outdoors. I don't know if you.

Speaker 8 (09:33):
Know that or not.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
And there is a roof.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
And then at Chicago is the is the one thing
that went a game that could mean everything in week eighteen.
But for the most part, they've got a schedule that
plays to their strength.

Speaker 7 (09:48):
If there's air conditioning, you know, it's inside. But when
there's no air conditioning, you're outside, unless you like my
dad who was always getting mad when I was a kid,
that would say, hey, I don't pay to cool off.
The outside doors closed? Okay, So that's how I know, right,
doors close, air conditioning doors open.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
It's it's it's not it's not a dumb stay.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Now they sell those big cooling units for the sideline
for your soccer team, so that's where.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
You still have to stand right in front of it,
you know.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
But it's air conditioning in an area you have to decide,
I mean, because it's not really a room because there's
no walls.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Now, for the Cowboys part of this, Right, nothing has
changed as to when we talked about what they were
going to be the beginning of the season. Right, we said, Okay,
this is a team you don't want to get in
a shootout with because their offense is that good. And
that's really who they've been, right we look, we're ahead
of the curve. We told you about the Cowboys. Defensively,
they struggle, but this is what we said beginning of
the year, don't get in a shootout with them, because boy,

(10:45):
they're really going to show you that you they can
that you can be in trouble. Now have they been
a little bit better than that? Yes, they have, right,
they're their offense is even better than we thought. Like
I think second most points in the NFL right now.
Their offense, even George Pickens has been better. Ceedee Lamb
has been what we expected. Hopefully he is okay and
can come back.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Left the game tonight and tonight yeah, age, But like
I said, they moved the ball.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
And they made their defense a little bit better at
the deadline. I mean, all of a.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Sudden, they didn't go from hey, now they're a top
five defense. But when you are the thirty second ranked defense,
and you jump to twentieth like you look like you're
the eighty five Bears ten thousand rates.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Right, I mean you talk about those games where everybody
got a little bit chesty. It's like games against the Raiders,
the struggling what are we Philadelphia Eagles pointing fingers like
a spider Man meme uh. And then the Kansas City
Chiefs thirty one to twenty eight win. But a Chiefs
team that has been you know, starts and fits throughout

(11:40):
the year with their offense as well.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
So this is Dallas, and through no fault of their own,
here's where they are. Knowing what we said beginning of
the season, Now where are they after week thirteen? It's
still the same, right, still the same. Don't get in
a shootout with them, because boy, they're gonna light you
up and you can find a way to lose the game.
They're even better than we thought offensively. Defensively they were

(12:03):
worse than we thought. Now they're a little bit better.
They are the team, and each each conference has one
of these two teams. Each conference always has the team
you don't want to play the rest of the season, right,
for one reason or another, we don't want to play
these guys because they're too dangerous. In the AFC, it's
the Texans because of their defense. Nobody wants to play

(12:24):
them now because the way they they won four in
a row and now they are peaking and good out back.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
You got by with Davis Mills.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Now you see scride back, hoping that you see some
shades of the guy he was once upon, and you.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Don't need you don't need him to be an absolute,
absolute game wrecord because your defense is going to hold
the team to under seventeen points. Just hey, just let's
get in the end zone a couple of times. Can
we score twenty one points? That's that's your your mark.
Nobody wants to play the Texans in the AFC. Nobody
wants to play the Cowboys in the NFC because they
can wreck your game from the offensive point of view.
Nobody wants them to squeak into the playoffs. Nobody wants

(12:57):
to play them that Hey, I'd rather have another five
hundred ers team find their way to squeak into the playoffs.
I think he'd rather play the forty nine ers that
would play the Dallas Cowboys, right, So that's kind of
that that's kind of where the Cowboys have graduated to
over the course of the season from Yeah, they're really
not gonna win a lot of games, but their offense
is great too. Hey man, their offense is great, and

(13:18):
now nobody wants to play them. They're gonna be five
hundred ish the rest of the way, and maybe the
the Eagles continue to quit on the season and leave
the door open for the Cowboys to come in and
take away the NFC East. But that's kind of where
the Cowboys are right now. I think that's the most
fairest representation of them as a football team.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Yeah, it's it's fun to watch them wing the ball
around tonight. They relied on the running game a little
bit more than anticipated. You know, that was the next
question if we had more time with Jack Campbell. But
you know, just that idea where you're surprised that they
tried to run. Now, in the end, Dak throws for
three seventy six but takes five sacks. You have the
two interceptions and the turnover forced, but they move the

(14:00):
ball really well running with Javonte Williams. And then obviously
we saw the passing game, which was really a pick
your poison before Ceedee Lamb went out. He ended up
with a pretty big game before leaving within the concussion protocol.
But they're not gonna stop, right, They keep coming at you.
Like even in that final possession, it looked like Dak

(14:24):
Prescott and completed a big ball down the field and
instead it gets ripped away right the diving you know,
kind of circus. Can't wait to hear the Berman recap
of that interception that becomes the game sealer. Actually it
was long enough that that would account it. It was
about you know, six seven seconds. Yeah, so that works

(14:46):
for the Lions. Looking all right, sorry for the Cowboys,
looking ahead at their schedule last four games home games
against Minnesota and the Chargers, ahead of road games with
the Commanders and Giants to finish the season.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
So who are the Lions.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Maybe they're that team that becomes the best team in
the NFL the last month of the season. Cowboys a
team nobody wants to play. That's who they are coming
off this. There's any the Lions just a huge win.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Something we talked about the defense today, a lot of
questions in the secondary and back seven with injuries. I mean,
I'm not calling it just to walk over with the
Vikings because it is the National Football League. But you
got some time to get those guys right before your
next test with Justin Herbert.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Exit out about a Fresca exit Swalling Dome. The Jason

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Not so much.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
If you started George Pickens just five and thirty seven,
you got.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Cole, You had a lot of field goals.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Hopefully you started Brandon Aubrey, he got you twenty. Harmon
started dak in Guillotine.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
He did.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
He only got eighteen points. Now he thinks he's gone
get knocked out.

Speaker 2 (17:01):

Our holiday party was today, Yeah it was. Yeah, how

Speaker 4 (17:15):
I got there after all the food had been carted away.
I sat in traffic like a dope.

Speaker 7 (17:19):
Yeah, long time.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
That's a bad call by you, A bad call. Yeah,
that call, it happens.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Difference of leaving fifteen minutes later because you take a
phone call from an insurance providers like all right, I
had hung up, I'm gonna go now.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Wait now it's saying two plus hours all right, good time.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Much like George Pickens from the end Zone, Harmon is
shutout of food at the Christmas party. Fortunately I'd made
a nice chicken soup that was here in the fridge.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
You did wait, you did it was. It was it
was good. Yeah, no, no, you brought it and you
actually need to tell the truth now. You brought it
in last night. Forgot it was here. It was very
happy when you got it.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Happy. Oh I forgot. I had break it to the freezer.
Lookast night. Instead it was here waiting for me today.
That's nice. So you know, it didn't have to come
out of pocket to buy some dinner.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't win. So how it
goes now here we are speaking of winning tonight. A
huge story in the NBA, the Lebron James streak over
twelve hundred games consecutive double digit score came to an
end tonight in the Lakers win over the Raptors. And

(18:27):
it's really I feel like it's our fault because we
talked about this two nights ago.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
It was two.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
I went back and I found through I said, I know,
we talked about that this week two nights ago. We said,
you know, the streak is coming to an end this season.
At some point this season, Lebron James's point soaring streak
is coming to an end because he's the third option
every night. Some nights he's the fourth option and on
nights when guys get on big heaters. If he has

(18:56):
a bad shooting night getting to ten points, he might
not get two nights later the streak was over. So
it's really our fault. JJ Redick, I know you hate me,
but I'm sorry. It's my fault. I ended Lebron James
the streak by talking about I think.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
He's gonna be like our guest Jack Campbell talking about
and they moved the ball.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
But we got the job done, right, we got.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
The W And from Lebron James, I'm gonna think that
he's gonna do everything he can to just make it
about the smart basketball play and trusting Rui Hachimura to
light it up because as of now he is their
three point option. But all of it to say, uh yeah,
that's this unconscionable streak.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Right when we.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
Think about all of these, you know, Miles Stones, and
usually it's the the career we talk about career hits
or or point score, like Lebron breaking that record and longevity.
But to do this what was it, twelve ninety seven? Yeh,
that's great, man, that's insane.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Until I decided to get involved, and now I'm the
greatest shutdown defender in the NBA. Yeah, until we talked
about it, and the greatest shut down defender, whoever you
put on Lebron does about I just had to the
silver tungued prints of the courtroom. All I had to
do was say it, Look what happened that combined with
his shot being four for seventeen tonight also yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
For five from three did have eleven assists though.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Now, look, that's the thing is you watch the beginning
of this game, and you can tell that offensively, Lebron
is still trying to find his way right up and
down the floor, whether it's his conditioning, whether it's his
spacing on the floor. Because the offense is different, you're
gonna tell that Lebron is still trying to find his way.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Is this the basketball karma?

Speaker 4 (20:32):
The basketball gods getting back at him for yucking it
up with the bench maybe which really ticked your guy off?

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah? Could man that video of Reddick cook it down?
What the hell's he doing over there? Why is he
talking to their bench? Now?

Speaker 1 (20:46):
While this streak ended for Lebron, and again, I'm your
shut down defender, let me know what you want.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I'll be the cooler for you. I'll be able to
shut stuch. Could you grow a mustache like William H. Macon?

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Oh no, or do I have to buy you one
that you just put on for the you know, for
the gig.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
I don't know that I could grow mustache. I mean physically,
I don't know that I'm capable of it. I think
that's I don't know that I can. I really I
grow really thick beard, really fast beard. But the mustache
like it's it's strange, like you like I would have,
like I could grow a James Harden full beard before
I think you even get a little bit of.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
A hint of interesting. It's kind of a mustache going there. Yeah, no, no,
it's an interesting look. No, it's no. I couldn't do it.
I couldn't do it.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
If I just get mutton chops, keep your head, grow
the mutton chops.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
If I could take a pill.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Where and there were hardly any side effects that side
effects include death, dismemberment. If I could take a pill
where I would never have to shave again, I would
take that pill. I would take that. To give me
that pill right now, I'll take two of them. What's
the worst side effect you'll you'll go in for you know,
when they when they start out with stuff like hey,
you know, dry mouth, uh getting tired, those uh side

(21:57):
effects as long as the rest of the ad is yeah,
all that now because they used to be able to
just bury it in text. Yeah, but legally they can't.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Do that anymore anymore. Yeah, how long is this commercial?
Sixty seconds? All right? Great?

Speaker 1 (22:09):
I wrote copy? No, we need copy for twenty three seconds.
Why because the last thirty seven seconds need to be
all the different things that could happen to you, all
these stores that statistically are truly relevant, and then we
can do a catch all at the end when they
get to things like sudden death. It's like, oh, okay,
all right, I mean, of course I think we all
draw the line at sudden death. I mean that might
just be wanted a billion but like, yeah, no, But

(22:31):
but what once they get to things like you know,
body parts falling off and and you know, your eyeballs
may pop out of your sockets.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
And I'm like, oh, is that I really I've seen
that in the movie.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Is that really worth it? I Mean it looks so
great where people are running through fields of flowers and
feeling awesome and playing with dogs and dancing is great. Yeah,
oh my goodness, yeah, yeah, yeah, I forget the one home.
I have the biggest crush on the girl in the
new one. I don't even know what it is, but
every time it's not like, Wow, she's gorgeous. I forget
what it is.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
But she's.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
No now, I forget what it has piqued my interesting.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
She's blonde.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
And the one thing is she's got the outfit where
the pants are like really high, and I'm like, boy,
that's kind of an odd look with the pants are
like really like like nineties like like that's how people
would yeah in the nineties. I'm like, oh my god,
she's I'm like, oh, I'll watch this commercial. I didn't
know the commercials for, but it's for something like that.
She's taking pictures and something else.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
I don't know, and that the voiceover comes in and says,
but we can never stop being American.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Oh man, I'll tell you so again. I wish I
could remember that as Yeah, is one thing we can't stop,
can't stop being.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Go stream something, go bitstream something on paramount and tell
me how that how you feel about that?

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Pal?

Speaker 1 (23:50):
But this is the thing about Lebron James right, because
this is this is really I I can't get over this.
The best team in the NBA the Oklahoma City Thunder,
and that's not close.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Right, they could win.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Seventy three So if they won seventy five games, I
wouldn't be surprised.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
It's the line out of Moneyball where Brad Pitt's talking
about where they are, Like, it's that gap, then there's
fifty feet of crap, and then there's us. The gap
between the first and second best team in the NBA
is a great gap. But the second best team in
the NBA are the Lakers. Okay, look at the end
of the game, Look at tonight what happened, right, And
this is where Lebron can walk around being a hero.

(24:28):
We're gonna hear from him coming up in a bit
talking about this his streak ending. The streak ended because
on the final play of the game, again this is
on the road in Toronto, No Luca. Final play of
the game, Lebron James has a chance to get to
get to the rack for a potential game winning hoop,
has a chance to maybe get foul, get to the
free throw line, make a couple of free throws and

(24:50):
extend that streak of double digit scoring games. But instead
Lebron does this, and this ends the game for the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Just make sure you get the last shot. Maybe Ruds there.
It goes Riards to Jones, chick it Carna Reay to
win the game.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Saints gave him the basketball.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
So there was Lakers TV on the call. Lebron passes
up what could be a game winning shot, gets the
ball to Ruy Hachimura. Ruey Hatchimura makes the three and
the Lakers win. Why are the Lakers the second best
team in the NBA? The mark of a great team
is when you are missing your stars or your stars

(25:39):
play poorly, you still win. And the Lakers go on
the road again against a pretty good Raptors team that
nobody thought was going to be any good and they
win without Luca. Big night from Austin Reeves. He goes
for forty four. Lebron terrible from the floor four to seventeen,
did have eleven assists. But the Lakers now have won
big games this year without Luca, without Austin Reeves, without Lebron,

(26:02):
doesn't matter what happens, they still find a way to win.
You know, Match that up with a team like the Knicks,
who as great as their supporting cast is. If Jalen
Brunson stinks, the Knicks can't win, all right, there's a
big deal. That's why Tuesday night, when it happened, I
told you and and and the rumors for Giannis came
out the next day. It was the Knicks are getting
Yannis because they know that in the playoffs or something

(26:23):
happens and Jalen Brunson's not Jalen Brunson, we're.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Going to lose. So that's where they're gonna go.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Get Yannis because well, he's a guy that's gonna win
games for us even if Jalen Brunson is not having
a big game, right, that that's how it's gonna go.
But that that's the difference between good teams and great teams.
And the Lakers right now are a great team. Now
the thunder are in a different strap. Calling them great
would be an insult. You can't just call us great. Yeah,

(26:48):
you lost the game with the Portland Trailblazers.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
That's the only thing I can say about you.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
But that's how good the Lakers are is that they're
able to win without their stars on nights when Lebron
stinks and passing up the game potential game winning shot
to hit Ruey Hachimura, and Lebron jumped in Hotchamura's arms
right after the game, right after he makes the shot,
like the Lakers have no problems right now. Man, the
Lakers are so good and being able to win like this,
that's dangerous, man, for the rest of the NBA. And

(27:14):
I'll even throw this on there. I guarantee you if
you hooked up Lebron to a lie detector, there would
be a large part of that would say it's a
relief that this streak is over and they were able
to break it in a way where Lebron's the hero
right passes up the game winning shot gets it to
Ruy Hachimora. This is a different Lakers team, it's a
different eraror, it's a different everything for them. And now

(27:35):
it's not so much about all Lebron's streak is over.
It's Lebron unselfish helps us win a game. There's no
Laker fan contingent that doesn't want Lebron on the team.
Lebron is trying to find his way in with Luca
and Austin Reeves being the top two offensive options on
this team. Now the Lakers have no problems, and to
do it in a fashion like this, I bet you

(27:56):
Lebron's walking around going now. I'm glad because I don't
have to worry about this because it was going to
be a struggle some nights to get to ten points
just because I am the third option. Some nights I'm
the fourth option. I get if I have a bad
night shooting, I'm not gonna have enough time. I'm going
four to seventeen. May not get there because other nights,
if I have a bad night shooting, I'm taking twenty
five shots, I'm getting the ten points. I'm not there.

(28:18):
I guarantee you. This is a big relief for him
as well. I mean, sure he wanted to keep this
streak going. You want to keep going all the way
to the end of his career. I'm sure it would
be the case. But where is right now? Yes, I
am relieved that this is how it ended, and it
ended in a positive way for me.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
The Lakers are rolling sevens right now.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
What's funny is this streak has never really been brought up.
It's been like late and you know, underlying causes like
an underlying condition like we're talking about in some of
these healthcare and medication ads. I don't remember it really
coming up with any great frequency until he had the
eleven point debut in November against Utah.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Right, he came out. Wow, it was a struggle to
get there. You know.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
That keeps the streak alive. It's like, all of a sudden,
he became a thing. Now we're people making money in
the background this whole time. Absolutely better. As we talked
about it with Monty Belogno, it's a bit earlier, you know,
where you were making five hundred bucks a game, so
you know, thirty games, there's your fifteen thousand dollars bet
and this guy had been able to cash for years

(29:22):
and trade on this. But yeah, you have a four
for seventeen nine. I think the bigger thing is when
when was the last time he played thirty six minutes
and didn't go.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
To the fall line? Yeah? Once?

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Yeah, I mean right, so he didn't even have that
for him. So eleven assists, six boards, one file. But
the eight points, you know, I'll still take I think
over the balance the nuggets when we get down to it.
But this is an impressive win, you know, the Raptors
are playing without your guy RJ.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Barrett. Yeah, that's twenty a game, that is.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
But I think if you're saying, okay, you're not playing
with Luca, we're not playing large.

Speaker 8 (29:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Yeah, but you know it's also the East and stinks.
But the fact of the matter is, yet you are
playing really well right now sixteen and five. Lebron still
trying to figure out it's clunky and the shot is
not there. And just a couple of days ago there
were a lot of missives of suddenly he looked old. Right,
it was the Full Star Wars. Look how old you become?

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Suddenly he became all of those forty one years. Just
like that.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Lakers have no problems. Where I think about that second
best team in the NBA. Everything is coming up. Sevens Tim.
How to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports From someone who bet fifteen thousand dollars tonight
that Lebron's streak was gonna continue and lost, It's Monty Blagna.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Now you got confused.

Speaker 9 (30:40):
You move the decimal way too much. I put fifteen cents.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Oh okay, I saw you were the person that bet
the fifteen round.

Speaker 9 (30:47):
No, no, I only put fifteen cents. You moved the
decimal too.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Much for a fifteen cent bet for Lebron James. I
mean you can make dime bets at the at the roll.

Speaker 9 (30:56):
You just let it, you know, like when you're in
Vegas and you hit the roulette table, you let it,
let it rie, thank you.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
I was like, what am I trying to say? You
let it ride, you let it roll, let's let it roll.
What are you talking about, man, ma'am? I don't understand
what you're saying. Man, that's me at.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
The craps table.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Man, I don't know what I'm doing.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Just throw the dice, Okay, did I win?

Speaker 9 (31:16):
They could tell me that I didn't, and I probably did,
and I would not know, and they would just take one.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Legally, they would have to give you that money. That's
gat oh good to know, would have to pay oh
good to know thee in the sky.

Speaker 9 (31:26):
They're paying attention.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
We'll pay attentions that actually counts against them, pretty big man.

Speaker 9 (31:30):
I don't know how to play craps. I wish I did.
It's it looks fun. It looks fun. I wish I
knew what I was doing. All right, guys, let's start
in the NBA. Why not You just talked about the Lakers.
That's true. Other games that happened, well, the Celtics blew
out the Wizards one forty six to one oh one.
The Timberwolves outscore the Pelicans one twenty five to one sixteen.
Julius Randall twenty eight points and nine rebounds on that one.

(31:53):
Jazz top the Nets one twenty three to one ten.
And it was a close one between the seventy six
Ers and the Warriors, but Philadelphia's vibe ninety nine to
ninety a, winning it on a tip shot from rookie
from rookie bj Edgecombe, and it was Tyree's maxi though
that was the leader for the seventy six Ers, ending
with thirty five points. The Warriors were already playing without
Steph Curry, without Jimmy Butler, and then they lost Draymond

(32:14):
Green to a right foot injury in the first half.
They were down twenty four points at one point, literally
came back in the seventy six ers survived. Other NBA
news Bucks star Joni Santa to Combo is gonna miss
about two to four weeks because of a calf strain.
When it comes to the NFL Week fourteen has officially
kicked off and the Lines defeated the Cowboys forty four
to thirty. Jared Goff threw for three hundred and nine

(32:34):
yards and a touchdown, while Dak Prescott through for three
hundred and seventy six yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
But it was a Jamier Gibbs kind of night.

Speaker 9 (32:42):
He had twelve carries forty three yards and three touchdowns,
plus seven.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
Catches for seventy seven yards.

Speaker 9 (32:48):
Also, Dallas wide receiver CD Lamb was ruled out in
the third quarter with the concussion and Detroit safety Brian
Branch was carted to the locker room in the second
half with a left ankle injury.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Other NFL news, Eagles.

Speaker 9 (33:00):
Will be without Jalen Carter on Monday night for their
game against the Chargers. He underwent a procedure this past
Monday on both his shoulders and the Chargers have listed
quarterback Justin Herbert as limited in practice today, but the
Commanders did upgrade quarterback jad And Daniels to be a
full participant in today's practice, so he is trending in
the right direction to start Sunday at Minnesota, but no
practice today for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. In college football,

(33:23):
Billy Napier is finalizing a five year deal to become
the next head coach at James Madison. Kansas State is
hiring a familiar face, calling Klein, to be their new
head coach. He was a quarterback for the Wildcats back
in twenty twelve and was a former assistant from twenty
seventeen to twenty twenty three. Also Alabama head coach Kaitlin Divorce.
Says that he's very happy at Alabama and that there
has never been a link to him taking the job

(33:44):
at Penn State.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Whether you believe that.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Nobody wants the job nobody?

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Do you want it?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Uh No? I grot as a Syracuse fan, Penn State
was a big run.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
I'm in, Yeah, you're in.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
I'm in.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
One hundred thousand people either cheering or booing me. It's
the coliseum. And then and I'm gonna get paid millions, and.

Speaker 9 (34:02):
You may get fired and still get paid millions. Like
I feel like you guys, we should apply for the.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
JI between I got LeVar and I got rich. Oh,
they got my back, that's right.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Oh LeVar Arrington. Yeah, I'm talking about LeVar Ball for
a second of like, LaVar Ball has your back?

Speaker 9 (34:19):
That was that was almost as bad as me saying
what Block, Yeah, Ron Block talking about that was almost
as bad as that.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
And speaking of Lebron James, we commemorate the end of
this incredible streak the best way we know how.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Coming up next, Jason to.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Mike Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Yeah, going back.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
To January fifth, two thousand and seven, Lebron James had
had over twelve hundred consecutive games by scoring in double digits.
That streak tonight came to an end eight points. He
passed this is up a potential game winning shot to
get the ball to Ruey Hachimura. Ruey hits a three
Lakers win. They got no problems, too much pressure. Uh,

(35:08):
this is a very big streak. We've talked about this streak.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
For a long time. Now.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
We're going to commemorate the end of it by playing
the Lebron Streak game that just came up with off
top of my head.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Okay, no, that's very very poetic.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
So I'm going to give you an event that happened,
and you tell me what happened more recently this event
or Lebron not scoring ten points?

Speaker 4 (35:33):
So January fifth and seven, you're ready, Yeah, well, whenever
you're ready, All right, here we go. What happened more
recently Lebron James scoring eight points? Or Tom Cruise marrying
Katie Holmes? What came first, Katie Holmes? You sure about that?

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Okay, the answer is Tom Cruise marrying Katie. Yeah, it
happened the year before.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
There you go, because I think.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
What's their kid's name, Sir Surry, Surrey, because I think
she's born right about the time Madeline is.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
That's how I did. Oh okay, all right, very okay,
very Oh so you cheated on that?

Speaker 4 (36:15):
No, no, no, just cheating, just trying to do timeline
doesn't mean I'm right and right.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
I mean we know, I mean all it takes nine months,
you cheater. Ish What happened more recently.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Lebron scoring eight points in that game in two thousand
and seven, or the release of the Simpsons movie Simpsons
did it? Simpsons? You say the Simpsons? Lebron scoring eight
points happened earlier than the Simpsons movie, which came out
in two thousand and seven.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Wow, Okay, what.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
Happened more recently Lebron James scoring eight points in the
game or the series finale of The Sopranos.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Ooh, Sopranos. Yeah yeah, yeah, more recently.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Okay, Lebron scoring eight points happened longer ago than the
Sopranos series finale, So.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
The Sopranos more recently? Okay, uh, what.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
Happened more recently? Lebron scoring eight points in the game,
or the founding of Airbnb? Has Airbnb around been around
longer than Lebron the last time?

Speaker 2 (37:31):
He got the concept as a whole point, but the actual.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
Cut now the actual Airbnb starting it for real like
a or not under the table.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
Yeah, that's more that's more recent. Lebron happened first? Lebron James?
Did happen first? Did happen first?

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Very good?

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Hey, someone who's been a big fan of Lebron his
entire career? Huge, Yeah, what happened first? Lebron scoring eight points?
Or Rihanna releasing.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Umbrella RelA RelA Rella Rea. The Wigs covered it in
RelA RelA Rella. Rihanna Lebron James came out in two
thousand and seven. Wow. Okay, so same year though, Yeah,
I got one more for you know.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
That's that's hard, right, you get to the wheelhouse.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Here's a wheelhouse.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
What happened more recently Lebron scoring eight points in the game,
or the High School Musical two coming out?

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Not one? Not one?

Speaker 1 (38:32):
Yeah, no one, not a game, high school game. High
School Musical two is more recent. Two is more recent.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
I celebrate Zephyron wherever I can. You are correct? That
is more recent.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Vanessa Hudges just add another child. Congratulations, here we go. Okay,
Mary's like I see you see yeah yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Then she's gonna sing with uh Garfield again. Last one. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
What happened more recently Lebron James eight points or the
release of the films Spider Man three, Shrek the Third
and Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End all part threes.
What happened first those three movies coming out? Or Lebron
scoring eight points in the game. Lebron, Lebron scoring eight

(39:22):
points in the game. You are correct?

Speaker 2 (39:26):
There, we are correct, very nice. Yeah, there it is stranger.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
I was at World's End at World you had the
wrong movie. You didn't like you had the wrong movie
you hated. I hated that movie too, I hated everything.
I just want more Davy Jones. He can give me
another one or two of those, that'd be great.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Uh you mean the Monkeys guy? Yeah, him too. Okay,
coming up.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Next, another NBA story that's gonna blow you away. Fox,
