Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side hour to the Jason Smith Show
with my bass friend Edwin Diz. For over forty years,
tire Rack's been open. Customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, Shipped fast and free, backed
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like

(00:50):
buying should be well. Yes, Edwin Diaz is a Dodger
Babe Schwarber stays with the pillage. You got John Paul
Morosi coming up at about twenty minutes from more on
these stories and nothing has changed. I am absolutely fine
with me. I am fine, dude. You would know, you
would know. Look sitting on a throne line. I smell

(01:12):
like beef and cheese. Actually, I did have beef and
cheese for dinner tonight. Both both both you and I
had beef and cheese for dinner. Yeah yeah, I mean
we didn't like eat off the same plate like we're
Lady in the tramp, but we each had beef and cheese.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
You didn't really need to put that out for people.
I think they hopefully assumed that was the case. I mean,
best friends at all. But you know, you and me
splitting a long genie.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah what.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Hitcher?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I like it? So, yeah, well born in the big
day in baseball coming up in a bit, The Dodgers
now have a really volatile ninth in encloser that's on
the cusp of potential bad season because every other year
is good for him.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
There is something, there is something to that Seesaw. Just
describe that, man. No, I mean, look, you're trying to
put a lot of bad voodoo out there. If we're
gonna keep going down the Will Ferrell movie. Don't you
put that on me, Ricky, Bobby. But it's just the
idea for Edwin Diaz. It's great in theory. Right, you

(02:12):
go and buy and spend your money on the best brand, Right,
you do this at all. Everything you look for in
your life, you go in and get the best possible
brand in your price range. Fortunately, for the Dodgers, that
price range is Infinity, and for Edwin Diaz, they got
him to signed the three year deal. I guess there

(02:33):
was a little bit of quibbling over a fourth year
and in some of this with the Mets, he didn't
feel the love. Now he's a Dodger and he brings
Timmy l with him. Yeah, look, it's it's it's a
great move on paper. I know Edwin Diaz, I've known him.
His entire run with the Mets. Every other year was good.
Sometimes he's great, sometimes he's not. He's coming off of.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
You hated him even when he was great. Here he's
coming because I could never trust the guy. I could
never trust him. You swat alone last year. But he
comes out. It's like, why do we need to load
the bases every single time? Why can't we just have
an easy ninth? And no we can't. Were they on
TNT uh no drama a few times? A few times?

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Right?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
But he's automatic, man, he's automatic.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
But that's the beauty in the chaos, That is the
closer situation, right because you look at it game to game.
When we take the totality of a guy's season, three
bad outings could make his stats look absolutely miserable. Right, yeah, sure, right,
when you pitch sixty six innings, you give up, you know,

(03:35):
three three innings that go for four or five and runs,
think bad things. Man, you could be almost nails and
lights out and every other appearance, every other inning pitch.
But for those days, that's enough to submarine and tank
your overall numbers. So we all take take that with
a bit of a great assault when we talk about eras.
But yes, riding the lightning will be part of it.

(03:57):
Look at his sake, call the catulu with weights, look
at his blown saves, look at his way every other year. Right,
and then you had a year in the middle where
he missed because he was celebrating after the World Baseball Classic.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Right, Well, I mean.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Look, you gotta celebrate the Baseball Classic. We're gonna talk
with John Paul Morosi. He's gonna talk all about the
baseball If he was forty save a guy every single
year the Mets. If he was a forty save a guy,
what if he was like a few bars So that
while you're at it. If Mets would have given him
a hundred million dollars, they would have. But he's not,
and he's he's okay, And they took the same tact

(04:30):
that they're taking with Pedalanza. Witch is, well, let's see
what the market has out there. Okay, three years and
sixty nine from the Dodgers, we can do right about that.
He still chose the Dodgers, right.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Understand that part of it is all the Mets lost
players want to go to the Dodgers. I get it.
I want everybody to come to the Mets, right, but
I think every single team understands. Even the most rabbit
of fans gets Okay, I get why you want to
be a Dodger. But that's just it.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
That's where the percentage too, right, Whether that's you take
the three year, what is he thirty one?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Thirty thirty one? Is he thirty two?

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Now?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Thirty two?

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Seven?

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Seven? Don't do that six seven. They don't even let
you do that at in and out anymore.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
They'll let you say it, they just don't let you.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Can't order sixty They yell at you now and they
throw sauce packets at you allegedly, But when when you
get down to it, you look at it a guy
prime years whatever, and for three years it might have
been worth it to him to say, you know what,
I'll go to the Dodgers. I know I'm going to
be in a winning situation and if I perform, well,
guess what they'll pay me to stick around. So we

(05:34):
got more on this coming up in a few minutes
from John Palm Morose again what the other big moves
could we could be on the cusp of as well.
But another day and more great drama surrounding the college
football playoff. Right, it was just a day ago we
broke down Notre Damon there fit after not getting included,
and their reactions stemmed from not limited to backing out

(05:56):
of the bowl, whatever bowl they were going to go
to this year.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
It was gonna be them in byu ye getting a
quote assurance that if they're in the top twelve next year,
they're in the playoff. And hey, we're upset with the
ACC because they'd backed their teams over us because we're
kind of a business partner of them. None of that
makes sense. It's why I said yesterday I hope not
tore Dame gets left out of everything. Yeah, I think

(06:20):
bavac was still at the podium. He's got some more
to say. Really, I hope they get left out of everything. No,
I'll get left out of the out of out of
pickleball playoffs. I'll be get left out. I'll something to
you you Miami and Alabama for pickleball players. You get
left out right, all the sympathy you had now, but
we're elite, We're Notre Dame. No now, i'pe you get
left out everything. But here is what happened today. Big

(06:42):
twelve commissioner Brett Yormark not happy with Pete Bavaqua's criticism
A very curt Bavaqua in what he had to say yesterday.
TJ said that Bavaqua was criticism of the ACC this
week and was on Dan Patrick yesterday called his behavior egregious,
said Bavaqua quote is totally out of bounds in his approach.

(07:03):
And if he was in the room, I tell him
the same thing. Good for him. Now this gets to
what is the only surprising part to me about this situation? Right,
because we told you shouldn't be surprised yesterday because college
football has no rules, so of course you're gonna get
a college football playoff like this that is completely out
of control, because when you don't have rules, all of

(07:25):
a sudden, things aren't gonna run smooth. So you should
not be surprised about that. But the one thing that
surprises me is that they knew this process was gonna
be messy, and we got to so very publicly see
all of their mistakes and all of the details that

(07:47):
came out. That makes this process look awful, right, Like,
how do you put out that, yeah, we're putting Notre
Dame ahead of Miami, only to know we got to
flip it a week later and neither of them are
playing a game. How do you how do you go
public with that?

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Right?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
How do you say things like, oh, hey, the Alabama's
win over Auburn, they really showed us a lot in
the first half of that game. Auburn's not good, but
yet the other times in Alabama gets blown out. It
doesn't matter. They were were they were so public with
how they wanted to explain themselves. All they did was
make it worse. Because normally big business understands, hey, this

(08:26):
is gonna crash and burn, right, this is not gonna
go well, we gotta make sure we keep this as
close to the vest as possible, and we don't let
out anything right like I expected with this. Probably knew
it was gonna be a mess. You're not gonna hear anything,
You're not gonna get anything from the committee. There's gonna
be just statements and you're not gonna get any sort
of background and answers because it's just gonna be an

(08:47):
absolute mess. And instead we get everything. Man, forget about
knowing how the sausage is made, Like, you don't have
to knock on the door. They can look at us. Hey,
you want to see how the sausage is made? Well
not really, No, we're gonna show you because boy do
we have a really ugly process. We're gonna put it
out there for you and you're never gonna want to
buy sausage again. Well okay, Like there was no protection
of this flawed process from the beginning, and they were

(09:10):
more than okay with putting that out. That's the thing.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
I mean, you're a check in week to week, and
we commented every time, and when we're on air, right
it breaks and we get the rankings just ahead of
us coming on air, and we get a first crack
at it, and we every week it became a all right,
where's the paragraph, where's the statement? And answer to a
question where he really puts his foot in his mouth

(09:36):
and makes them look stupid. And every week we had
at least one of those examples. And when it came
down to the Miami noted inme thing, it was the
well we were able to kick that down the curb.
We didn't have to look at them side by side.
We didn't, right, that was the final thing from your checking.
We didn't look at him side by side and head
to head until we had to until we had to,

(09:56):
which allowed for a season long TV show and then
plot twist at the final it's like a cliffhanger. Unfortunately
this is a one season contained apparatus. But but all
of that to say, it was there in the back pocket,
the break glass in case of emergency once the conference
championships played out, once they did, and again, like we

(10:18):
talked about yesterday, the Alabama thing has just.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Been forgotten in all of this. Oh, they skated, right,
they skated. They for about twenty minutes.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
It was outrage But because Bavaco has been such a
buffoon in the post, and again I bet she's got
a ten o'clock tomorrow and.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
You know, one more thing, one more thing. They never
invited me and blank you, blank you, blank you big ten,
you're cool, blank you. I'm out. But you're not guying.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
You know, you're a gun it right, like when we
go down to it, when we're looking at the lobbying
that went on in that room.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
It's you just want to make sure you're properly represented.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Someone stands up for you, you know, the old Uh what
are we talking about?

Speaker 1 (11:04):
A few good men?

Speaker 3 (11:05):
We're supposed to stand up for Willie And that's kind
of what we're looking at here. Someone in that room's
got to be the one voice of common sense and
reason ratching out that wasn't there. But also, when you're
one of these conferences, that's gonna be on the fringe
to make sure you stand up for yourself and for
Notre Dame as much cloud as yet like fighting with

(11:25):
the AACC at this point, Yeah, you've got the what
four or five games a year that you participate in,
but in the end you're not a full member. They
backed their full member. Why is that a problem. They
didn't go and cut you.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Down and says say that about Notre Dame. We're Notre
Dame that way, that was your resume.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
He also had the quote today, Bovakuen is you know, hey,
I still got more to say on this. Talked about
the Run being a juggernaut through their schedule and running rough,
rough shot over all, like those teams all stunk.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
It's it's at the point in college football where you know,
you can't control what the commissioners say, right, you can't
control Pavakua says, you're more coming back. I understand that.
But the NCAAA selection committee for the NCAA Tournament in basketball,
when they make their picks and there's teams that are

(12:20):
left out, and you always get at least some sort
of explanation from the committee member who winds up talking
about it where Okay, I can agree or disagree, but
this is what they wound up valuing more. And they
talk about the net ranking and they talk about wins
on whatever they want to do. Yeah, it's it's it's
you know, it's wins on the road, it's it's conference wins,

(12:43):
whatever it is. And they're pretty they're pretty versed in
what they want to say. This was you had so
many bad talkers just say things. How do you let
a poll come out that like you go, wait a minute,
wait a minute, I want to do we do you
guys know that Miami beat not what that happened? Yeah,
well that was way back in week one. Who weren't
really paying attention to that? Like, there's certain attention to

(13:04):
detail that really surprised me. They allowed to be so public,
They allowed this to be such a bad process. They
allowed to be public and not have everything buttoned down,
and we got to see how bad it is, because
that's a big part of it, right, if you just
disagree with the with the poll. Okay, you disagree with
the poll, but there's so many that self inflicted wounds

(13:28):
that the playoff committee could have avoided. You could have
simply avoided stuff, and they didn't, and they wound up.
There's so many teams and issues just made this worse
as it went along. It's always going to be controversial.
Just don't add to it. Nope, we want to add
to it. Make sure you know what a bad process
we have going on here.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Yeah, but the fun of it all is they say, yeah,
but what are you gonna do?

Speaker 1 (13:50):
You're stuck with what we give you? Exit out about
a Fresca exit, Swollen Dome, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon. Every
goal starts with an assist on and off the field.

This is gonna be Ride the lightning. But I got
something you need Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
It feels like Christmas.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
I remember that hose A Feliciano van Halen Christmas special
from the early eighties that was really fun. It rivals
the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. So yeah. The Dodgers get
Edwin Diaz for three years and sixty nine million dollars.
Babe Schwarber re ups with the Phillies for one hundred

(15:57):
and fifty million. They get him for another five years.
Big moves today, Big Moves to come. Joining us now
from the Winter meetings in Orlando. Nobody better the longtime
LB Network insider extraordinaire. He is on Twitter at John Morosi.
His new entrance music. It is the Pope, John Paul Morosi.

(16:26):
John Paul was.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Having buddy, how are you, Jathan?

Speaker 6 (16:30):
I know that Justin is quite serious and quite joyful
about this now becoming my new walk up song for
this segment, I will leave that to the two of you.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
To sort out.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
What I do know is that the Dodgers will very
soon have their closer with the best entrance music since
Kelly Jansen. I was quite partial to Kenley coming into California.
Love that was a really fun way to begin the night.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
Thinking about stadium.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
But I think we're gonna hear the trumpets at Dodger Stadium,
and truly, the rich get richer, the best team in baseball,
the reigning World Series champs, get one of the best
closers in the game, and Jason, my friend, your Mets
have some work to do.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
John Paul, let me tell you right now, I am
absolutely okay with waving goodbye to Edwin Diaz and the
roller coaster closer that he has been he's gone from.
His first year was terrible, his second year was good,
his third year he was hurt. His next year was terrible,
last year was good. Right with the relief pitchers, there's
no Rivera out there, there's no Trevor Hoffman. You're trying

(17:38):
to find somebody. Year to year he was He's very
volatile and as I said at the beginning of the
show to everybody tonight, Hey, I'll be the guy you
want to think when Diz comes in and has that one, two, three,
ninth with three strikeouts and twelve pitches, I'll wants to
be the guy you're gonna say what the blank to
when he comes into three nothing lead in the ninth
inning and after two walks and hit by pitch there's

(17:59):
bases loaded. Nobody. Yeah, that's the Edwin Diaz experience. I
am okay with spending that money elsewhere.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
Well, a couple of things.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Can you tell me that you called Sternsy right after
wee get off. You call your college roommate, David Search,
you tell them I said that, and everything is fine fine.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
I believe actually that, Jason, that's going to be the
headline in the New York Post tomorrow morning. I think
it's actually the headline everything is fine, Everything is fine.
I think that's exactly what the headline says. Listen, Uh,
they probably don't have as I'll.

Speaker 7 (18:41):
Actually take the word probably out.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
They do not have as good as a bullpen now
as they did when the season ended, and that bullpen
was not good enough for them to even make the
playoffs that they were beaten out by the Cincinnati Reds, so.

Speaker 7 (19:01):
On that part of the club. They also, by the way,
have Pete Alonzo unsigned.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
And this is where I find it interesting where teams
sometimes feel the need to hold the line on a
particular contract to a particular player. Okay, fine, but then
if you have to turn around and overpay because Scott
Boris now knows that you, as the Mets are, are
trying to satisfy your fans on some level. You've you've

(19:28):
already traded away Nimo, albeit.

Speaker 7 (19:31):
In a move that makes some sense.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
You've you've let Diaz go to the Dodgers, and now
Pete Alonso is still out there, and he's one of
the most popular players of this generation, maybe the most
as a New York Mets all time home run leader
as a New York Met, and he's still out there
in free agency and you've got teams like the Red
Sox lurking.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
Can you imagine, Jason.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
If Pete Alonso signs with the Red Sox tomorrow, the
headline in the post will say, everything is really really fine.
It is.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Everything is jump Paul. It's It's not like the Mets
have to play a game tomorrow. They have a whole
off season to make the team better. You need new
guys after the collapse last year. Look, I said goodbye
to Pete Alonzo when he hired Boris as his agent.
I knew it was only a matter of time when
that happened, So I said my goodbye to Pete Alonzo.
It's fine, Okay, everything is tell sternsy, everything is fine.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Fully prepared to just support you on your descent into
the abyss of Mets misery tonight and and and basically
be your be either your spirit guide or your Mets therapist.
And it sounds like you don't need me to do that,
which is which is great. Listen, Devin Williams is excellent.

(20:53):
I think he He had a little bit of an
aberration with the Yankees, but mostly mostly was pretty good.
I thought that in a Yankee uniform in twenty twenty five,
especially when you.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
Look at a lot of the underlying numbers.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
So that acquisition in and of itself is fine, But
they also need a starting pitcher.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
They also need at least.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
One outfielder now if they now Here's how the Mets.
I can't believe I sound like a Mets fan right
now would be amazing. But the way they can totally
redeem themselves is if they signed Bellinger away from the
Yankees and a Ranger Swats away from the Phillies. If

(21:34):
you do that, if you find a way to compromise
two of your biggest rivals by signing away their players,
then I think you can say that the off season
has been a success.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
But they've got a lot.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Of work to do. You're right, and the team wasn't
good enough. And in fairness to David Stearns, he's not
disassembling in twenty seven.

Speaker 7 (21:54):
Yankees here, but this team's gonna look a lot different.
And if Pete A.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Lownsa walks through that door, wow out of that door,
then you're talking about no Demo, no Daz, no Pete
all in one off season.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
That's a lot of change, all right, JP, as we
look at it, we got the closer done. Schwar Marie
signs in Philly. You're talking Bellinger, Kyle Tucker. What did
his second half? Due to his prospects for the long
term balloon contract.

Speaker 7 (22:24):
That Tucker's market is narrower than it was when the
season started.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Which or at least when we were at the All
Star Break. The Cubs do not seem to be involved.
One team I heard today is Baltimore.

Speaker 7 (22:36):
Which is interesting.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Of course, Baltimore's president of Baseball Operations, michae Elias, was
the scouting director of the Ascros when he drafted Kyle
Tucker back there about ten years ago.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
There's a relationship there.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
The Orioles in general are a very active group. They
actually I was told they're trying to acquire Mackenzie Gore
from the Nationals.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
Now, the Nationals and Orioles have never made a trade.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Never. They The last time there was a trade between
those franchises, Tim Rains was involved and it was the
Expos and the year was two thousand and one. Rock.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
I think you're exactly right about that. So that that
that goes way back into that era. So I think
in general the Orioles are are active on a number
of fronts, and Tucker is one of them.

Speaker 7 (23:30):
But in general Tucker's.

Speaker 4 (23:31):
Marketplace, he is not really hot with the Dodgers right
now from what I can gather. Maybe he's a fit
for the Giants. But Kyle Tucker's market is smaller than
I thought it was going to be. The Blue Jays
certainly are involved, but it is I think the number

(23:52):
of his contract will probably start with a three. Maybe
it's thirty million dollars per year over ten years, something
like that.

Speaker 7 (24:00):
But I do not believe he's going to get to
four hundred. I think it's somewhere in that thirty.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Million dollar a year of range, which is by the way,
really healthy, and maybe a little bit north of that.

Speaker 7 (24:11):
But not by much.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
I think Schwarber's thirty million bucks a year looks pretty
good right now, and I think Tucker may may struggle
to be able to get to that level here going forward.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
At the winter meetings with US in Orlando. John Paul Morosi,
MLB Network insider, all right, John Paul, So, now with
these moves that we've seen today, what are you hearing?
What's a couple of big things that would not surprise
you coming up because of what you have heard there already?

Speaker 4 (24:41):
Is I think is on the move in the next
couple of days. I believe that there's a pretty decent
chance of that happening.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
Oh, Jovan, we.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Watch you there. Who did you say the first one?

Speaker 7 (24:51):
Brandon Lao? Brandon Lau.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
I think he's of the Tampa Bay Rays, I think
he's a guy to watch carefully. Brandon Donovan is one
more I think to watch in that second base trade market.
Can tell Marty's name has been very popular a little
bit here over the last couple of days. I think
he is someone the Boston Red Sox that's some interesting
among the relief pitchers. Robert Swatez is someone that I
would watch carefully.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
He's kind of the next.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Guy to sign, and now that Williams and and Diaz
had both signed, and then I think in the starty
fishing market, if I was to say one name that
could go first from but about Venz of the the
Houston answers, I think that Fromber is probably the guy
that has the best chance to sign relatively soon. The Giants,
the Astros, the Astra is probably lesser there.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
But I think actually the Mets are a team that
are still looking at a starting pitcher.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Given the state of their rotation and whether it's about
Lez or whether it's Swats, Rangers squads.

Speaker 7 (25:46):
That is, we could certainly see the Mets.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Still answer in a way that makes Jason Smith feel
even more optimistic based on what we're seeing right now.
So I think that's that's my sort of big picture.

Speaker 7 (25:59):
Look.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
I don't think we're close on Bregman. I don't think
we're especially close on Alonso, but I think some of
the other names that I mentioned, and Bobashett probably is
a little bit later on in the game as well.
He will likely have to wait until after a lot
of these second base trades happened. Whether it's Marte, Donovan,
Brandon Lao, I think those names probably will move at

(26:21):
least two of those three before we see Bobaschett sign
either with the Jays or a different team.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Now, we don't often get to talk about the Yack
Colt swallows, what happens with Murakami.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
Taka Murakami of the Tokyo yak Holt swallows one of
the uh they are the junior team in Tokyo. Of course,
that's the big team in Tokyo, the Yamuri Giants, so Mona,
Taka Murakami, big time power. And what I can say
is the way that this market has been breaking, it
would not shock me if the Pittsburgh Pirates land either

(26:56):
Murakami or Kazumo Okamoto, because they have been in there
on some of these offers. They made an offer to
swar where they're trying to establish themselves, and I think
that one of the better ways to establish yourself globally
is is to sign a significant Japanese star coming over.
And there are two bats that fit that inscription right now,

(27:17):
So I think the Pirates are a sleeper candidate to
be active there on both Murakami and Okamoto. Maybe the
Mariners are an option there. I can see the Tigers
being a fit there too. But those are some very
intriguing possibilities right now on the position player front. So

(27:37):
do not be surprised that if the Pirates done the
baseball world by acquiring either Munataka Murakami or Kazuma Okamoto,
who does play.

Speaker 7 (27:48):
Or has played by the way for the Tokyo Yami Giants.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
All right, So, lastly, John Paul, with the Schwarber deal
going back to Philadelphia, DH only getting to his mid thirties,
is this a good for the Phillies for the next
two years? The next three years? Is a good deal
for all five years.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
That's going to be good for the next three years,
and the last two years will probably be dependent upon
health and sustainability of success. I'm a big college forber Guy,
they and they're probably looking at it like if he
has another year like he had in twenty twenty five,
that's like a fifty million dollar year, and so you're
almost just hoping that he puts together three more years

(28:29):
like that and then if he's whatever he does and
then in years four and five is almost a bonus.
But he's just got to keep doing what he's done.
This is the next few years, which is asking a lot,
but I think within the realm of possibility for him
just an excellent player, phenomenal leader, someone that has looked to.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
By his entire organization for what he represents.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
So I think that is in an overpay, they got
the player. And in this market for good players, you
usually do have to overpay. And the good news of
what I like about that for the Phillies, they paid
a lot for what I consider to be an a
level person, a level player, durable player, winner, he's always

(29:11):
playing every October. He's a special, special player. So I
think the Phillies got there. Man. There's the reason why
he signed first is because a lot of teams like
the Orioles and the Reds, we're in there and realize.

Speaker 7 (29:23):
How much value Kyles former brings it in.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
By the way, Watkin graduated the team that won the
MLB Draft Lottery today, that being the mighty Chicago White
Docs of Mike Harbonville.

Speaker 1 (29:35):

It?

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Yes that that that?

Speaker 2 (35:19):
So?

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Okay thank? You that? Was that was? Good that WAS
i just wanted make it so it's. Disturbing Uh, so
we got big stuff out of THE nba coming up
in a few. Minutes but now that this week in
THE nfl is behind, us you want to know what
quarterback had the biggest? Week not somebody threw for the most.
Yard we came out of The Philip, yeah, sure come,

(35:44):
On Philip rivers and what's going to be a really
bad idea getting. Worse Philip rivers in the no, good horrible. Day,
uh the person who had the best day of the,
week without a doubt Is Aaron. Rodgers right two eighty
Four touchdow running throws for a. Touchdown The steelers take
control of THE Afc, north at least for, now by

(36:08):
a game over The. Ravens, look The steelers are, terrible
but The bengals losing does them in for the rest
of the. Season Now pittsburgh has a one game lead
Over baltimore with four games left to. Go why Was
Aaron rodgers the best week by a? Quarterback other guys
had bigger. Weeks, yes other guys won bigger, games, yes

(36:29):
one hundred. Percent but What Aaron rodgers did with this,
game the much Maligned Aaron, rodgers who was on the,
cusps potentially watching the last the end of the last
year of his career from the, bench And Will howard playing,
quarterback what he did with this? Win BECAUSE i give him.
Credit we talk about HOW i talk about how bad he,
was how dune he, is but he at once in

(36:51):
a while he has it for a big. Game he
has a good enough game that now there is no
doubt he will finish the season on his feet in
the lineup for The, steelers long as he's, healthy on
his feet in the lineup for The, steelers playing through
the final week of the, season whatever that is For,
pittsburgh because now you've quieted the boo birds enough to Wear, okay,
well he had a big, Game we needed one on

(37:13):
the road Against. Baltimore he has a couple of bad,
games doesn't. Matter what are you gonna. Do you put
somebody out there new In week, sixteen week. Seventeen that's
not gonna happen with this game, Here rogers tamp down
all the possibility that he could sit on the bench
for the last few games of the season because it
just wasn't going. Well it's not been going well for
him for a. While but that's why this was such

(37:35):
a big, week because now he's going to get to
finish HIS nfl career where it should, be on his,
feet playing in the. Game it'll end in a loss
at some, point right The steelers aren't going to the Super,
bowl but he's going to get to finish the way
a guy Like Aaron rodgers, should on his feet playing
in a, game not Like Russell wilson who's gonna end
with the big puffy park on why you, know hanging,

(37:55):
out hanging, out you, know swapping lines With Jamis winston
as they talk about their next appearances ON cbs And
fox Watching Jackson dart light it up for The giants
as he's their quarterback of the president, future like it's
gonna end For rogers how it should end because of
this game this, week because he was looking at an
end that was really bad For Aaron rodgers man sitting around,
again him and the puffy coat on the sideline watching,

(38:18):
guys maybe giving advice to other, quarterbacks maybe. Not he
had the biggest week of. Anybody, YEAH i.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Think you wanted to bench him, Prematurely but in the,
end he's the guy he's been for the last couple of.
Years he's not pushing the ball down the field a
ton first rushing touchdowns since twenty twenty two's are good
for him, there but you're looking at a guy he's
at three touchdowns per. Interception the completion raid is in

(38:42):
line with what he's done the last few. Years is
at sixty five percent sixty five point, four which is
right at his career, marks just slightly above when you
get down to. It they don't have a great run.
Game defense hasn't been great in terms of points per.
Game hide With, denver, Right so if your defense lived up,

(39:03):
to you, know the, salaries and played commensurate with the
paychecks being cashed on a weekly, basis perhaps you'd be
much better than seven and.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Six, yeah oh. Sure, Look i'm not saying all of
a sudden things are, sunshine lollipops and. Rainbows but he
was looking at potentially the end of his career coming
sitting on the, bench because how long were you gonna
watch bad performances and no offense from The. Steelers when
you Saw Mason rudolph come, in, hey you had a
little bit of. Spark we got a little bit offense,
Here we got some stuff going, on and he's a great.
Backup he's able to come in once in a. While

(39:34):
maybe It's Will howard when he's healthy. Coming, hey we
got to do something Because Mike tomin's not gonna go
do what so we did last, year which is Watched
Russell wilson just blow chunks all the way the last
four weeks of the. Season potentially that was out there
For roger to sit and now it's not well when
you look at What Russell wilson had. Become that was
just plain stubbornness because he was the smartest guy in

(39:56):
the room for the first couple of weeks after that.
Work but you take care of business against the teams
you're supposed to. Beat got a Big monday night affair
that will chronicle against a Resurgent Miami dolphins.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
Squad two pop gun arms going at. It it's Eight
chan against an amalgam vultron of a running back.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Situation there may not be more than twenty passes in that.
Game might be two big stories out of THE. Nba,
