Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Greetings, Welcome inside our three The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I'm your poppy Chulo.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
No a lot from the Fox Sports Radio studios where
we are getting set for a big TNF game. We
got the Rams and the Seahawks. If the Rams can
get there, their plane had difficulty, Uh didn't take off
in time. So it's got to sit on the plane,
listen to music and watch movies. Gotta wait, gotta wait. Uh.

(00:59):
So we'll have that come up in a few minutes.
But speaking of football, didn't think we'd have this on
our Bengo car today. But potentially you have to get
ready for the Northwest Indiana Bears. Get ready because that
could be where the Chicago Bears wind up playing after
this bombshell story today as a team president and CEO

(01:22):
Kevin Warren said, the Bears are gonna explore other locations
for where they want to build their new stadium. And
this has been a whole big thing the last couple
of years, the Bears looking to build a new stadium.
They want money. Uh, They've been looking into a site
in Arlington Heights, Illinois for a domed stadium. I don't
know why you want a dome stadium the Bears and
the outdoors, but I get it. You want because you

(01:44):
want to own revenue. Revenue. Now I get it. You
want you want to you want an all purpose stadium
to have concerts in and make money in the rest
of the year. No, I get it. I get it.
You've been screwed by the city all these years. You
want payback. Yeah, I don't want to go I want to.
I don't want to go to that afro Avin concert
in the middle of February outside. I'm not doing it.
So they'd looked the last few years trying to get

(02:06):
a stadium is somewhere in Chicago, but now they have
to look out. Arlington Heights was the rumor a couple
of years ago. And now he wrote a letter to
fans saying that they're going to explore other locations for
their Dome stadium, including moving the Bears out of Illinois altogether. Quote,
We're going to critically evaluate opportunities throughout the wider Chicago

(02:27):
land region, including Northwest Indiana. This is not about leverage. Okay, yes,
it's all about leverage. As soon as you say it's
not about leverage or anything, you're telling me exactly what
it is. Tell me it's about leverage. By telling me
it's not about leverage. This is the biggest home game
the Bears have had in years coming up this week,

(02:47):
and now they're choosing to say, hey, we could be
looking in Northwest Indiana to go build our new home. Look.
I get that the Jets and Giants play in Jersey.
That's great. I understand, But they've been playing there for
forty years now. Man, Like it's it's happened. It's a
it's a little hop, skip and a jump. I get it, man,
I understand. The Giants have always played there, the Jets

(03:07):
moved there. It's fine, you're gonna move to Northwest Indiana.
You have the Northwest Indiana Bears. I mean can you
really still be the Chicago Bears. I don't know. I
mean I'm a Northwest Indiana Bears. Sounds like a D
three team. Hey, the Northwest Indiana Bears. They're the semifinals now,
the D three Playoffs. They play North Dakota State on
Saturday with a chance to go to the semis. Well,

(03:29):
I mean you got Merrillville, Indiana live music. They've always
had a great place out that you can go there.
That's good, Gary, Indiana.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
You know already Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Gary.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
And sure, I mean that's the Jackson five, isn't it.
I mean, yeah, they're from Gary, Indiana, as is Ron Kittle.
So I mean you've got nineteen eighty three Chicago White
Sox Rookie of the Year, former guest on the show.
Well there is that too, he got a little bit loose.
But yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Look, Indiana has been out there as a as a
possibility all this time, right because you've flowed up these ideas.
Certainly Arlington Heights that an opportunity as the racetrack folded
to buy that plot of land. You've seen the railways
and Amtrak and all the different things of hey, we
can get out there and we can continue to build.
And you're seeing more and more suburban sprawl, so more

(04:23):
communities building up on the road out there. So you've
got opportunity. And Indiana towns have been advertising on Bears
broadcasts forever, and if anybody's watched anything, if Chicago and
Illinois politics, well they're distracted by a million other things.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
So you gotta go.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
And you gotta tap the microphone and be like, hey, hey, hey,
we need some attention, and we need some moneies because
we're pretty good now and and we can we can leave.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
I really, I mean, this is this is just when
when I see the Bears. Yeah, here's Kevin Warren for
a big ten president. Yeah no, no, Northwest Indiana, Yeah,
that's not about leverage. Oh we found them on the
Gary Bears. Oh man, that opens up the door to
a whole other world of marketing and sales. The NWY Bears,
like they would be NWY on scoreboards, right, who's nw

(05:15):
I oh? Northwest Indiana? Okay, got it, got it? Got okay? Yeah,
Northwest Indiana. Well, I mean, look you got Gary Hammond, Hammond, Indiana,
Crown Point, Valparaiso, come on, little valparais Little Valpo action.
Come on, it's good. Michigan w MW. We're the Midwest Bears.
That's the MC Bears, Michigan City. We're the Midwest Bears.

(05:41):
And so we've just taken over the entire Midwest for everybody.
Like I feel like I could go into Target and
go to them bag and buy one of those you know,
Midwest Bears all like those fake schools, like those fake
schools Midwest as t shirt. Oh Midwest Bears. Yeah no,

(06:02):
it's actually a football team now, it's the Midwest Bears. Yeah, directional,
it's a directional school. What what what? What? A what?
An absolute mess? Man?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Only are a corn popcorn?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Ah, but they're really big. You get really big, like
it's like it's it's the bigger than you could ever
possibly Oh my god, that pop.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Popcorn is made from off the cob.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
That popcorn is as big as a city bus. All right,
I'll have that. That's fine, that's good.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
You get a three those will talk to you.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Oh no, that's right. Now I'll get a big diet coke.
How big is a die coke? You can swim in it.
You could just dive in, open your mouth and swallow
whatever you want to then climb back out. You'll be
sticky because oh that's I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
But I can get you a three point five gallon
Indiana Hoosiers popcorn tin for fifty five bucks.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Oh you dude, are you kidding? Indiana Hoosiers night at
the games. It'll be fantastic. I'd be real, this is
the time to move to Indiana though for football, Like
it's never been better than Indiana football right now. Maybe
Kurtz Signetti would coach coach, would coach both teams. You
would have that football were a football state. They'd give
away replica men Doza jerseys at the Bears games all
the time, just to get people through the door. Ah,

(07:16):
to be fantastic. Abraham Lincoln bobblehead guys would come wearing
like stovetop pipe hats. And then wow, but.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Now we've left Illinois and we're going to Indiana. I mean,
now we gotta go find all I mean Pawnee and
whatever else.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
So you know, we got the Hearts and Rex Crew
here to and here for the celebrity coin flip will
be Indiana legend Steve Alford, who will be flipping the coin.
Everybody welcomes Steve from the nineteen eighty six champion Indiana
Hoosiers basketball team.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Oh boy, this is what I didn't expect.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
During Packers week. I gotta be like, I know, it's
swirling in.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
The background, and I certainly pay attention a lot of
stuff swirling around at home, but you know, pay attention
to the political atmosphere and everything that's going on there.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
And then in the middle of the week.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
You know, get ready for the big game, and everybody's
fired up. You got Micah Parson's injury, all sorts of questions. Mark, Nope,
let's talk about the Bears moving to Indiana.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
A bear's gonna bear, man, Bears don't bear right, it's
a Hey, it's a big Can we concentrate in the game. Nope,
we're gonna talk about moving the Northwest.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
The Motor Speedway player of the game is.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Oh, and after they win the game, like the quarterback
chucks the big thing of milk. After the postgame interview, Hey, congratulations,
Oh that's gonna be all.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
This is all funny, but prosper there's one elemental and
fundamental truth to it all.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Still ain't the Jets. No.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I thought you were gonna say Indiana sucks North.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I mean that's true too. I mean, uh, no, fever
catch it, man, what you catch the fever? Just in
insane fever.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
I just want Pete to just start smashing people.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Oh, they would have like mascot fights at the game,
like they would have all the main and just say, yeah,
we're just gonna beating him halftime. Oh nobody. No, he's
gonna be the overwhelming favorite. He'll be the guman from
out of town. It's Benny the Ball, He's Johnny. You
forget about the sticky tape.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
He literally holds a sledgehammer.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Yeah, oh yeah, no, no, undred percent, man, I mean
you have a sledgehammer, You're gonna win most of your fights.
He's somebody with a bigger.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Sledgehammde if the Jets had a sledgehammer.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
If they allowed players to play with sledgehammers, we would
have a lot more yards rushing. I mean, guys would
get out of the way. We have a few there'd
be a few more holes for Breescee Hall and Isaiah Davis.
We'd have that one hundred percent. Who's better though?

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Is it the Bear or Hoosier the Bison? Oh? Why
is it Staley or Hoosier the bison, No, I got
it to battle. Wow, oh wow the bison. The bison's big,
but the bison is not as aggressive. I would I
still would take a bear over the bison. I still
would take the beard daily du bear. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah,

(10:15):
or a Hoosier like you know, you know, a guy
with a pitchfork. I still might take the bear. You
can you need Benny the bull, no question about it.
Would the field look like a corn maze, like when
you see now you've gone next level, It'll still be

(10:37):
a better playing surface than what they have at sold
your field. I can tell you that that is true,
no matter what they put out there. Boy, I love
how cushy this is. The grass is fantastic. You could
spray paint concrete. It'll be better than what they have
it sold your field. Oh I loved. I didn't know
how much I would love this story today. I really
It's one of those This is one of those stories

(10:59):
where I'm like, boy, this is gonna be fun, But
how much fun is it gonna be? Oh No, it's
incredible amounts of fun. Like this is a great coda
to the Knicks. I'm sorry, World Champion Emirates Cup champion,
Knicks winning last night and now tonight. You know the Bears. Hey,
we could move to Northwest Indiana.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
That got our bean and poultry beer.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Now we're getting updates on the soy and weed and
all the commodities markets. That's what you get.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
If you listen to Chicago radio in the morning, you
actually do get a bunch of that WGN or WLS.
When they start doing the financials. Out here in Los Angeles,
we get everything about the tech companies or whatever. There
it's all about the commodities. Like you're hanging out on
the trading floor of trading places.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
You ready for this one?

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Go ahead?

Speaker 3 (11:47):
If they moved in Indiana, what if they put the
stadium in the middle of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway like
baseball did, and.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
The games for your same time as races, so you
can't really hear anythink it's just here. Yeah, well the
race is going on outside the stadium. They're racing around
the stadium. That's gonna be where it is. I got
one more for you, I got one more, I more
for it, and everyone please rise here for the week

(12:18):
fifteen game between the Bears and the Vikings. Uh the
seventh time this season, we will have our natural Lanthom
sung by longtime Grammy winning artist John Mellencamp. Please rise
for the national anthem. Now you're talking everyone off the cougar,
he would wave out. He would say, I'm done doing
the anthem, I've done it six times. Instead, how about

(12:41):
pink houses, everybody. Yeah, he just goes in and they
played pink houses before the game. Yeah, but the problem
is if he shows up, you might not get it
off on time because he likes to fight with guys
about when they start going back at him for political purposes.
So I mean that might delay the start of the game.
What want you you say? He's got an interstate running

(13:02):
through his front yard. You know, he thinks he's got
it real good ready and go, oh that would be
the best. I love the story so much. I love
this story. So you are you were really enjoying this
on a whole other I really really.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Looked at you. Just wait for Civil War night.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
I really like the reenactment. Yeah, it's reenactment day. Sure's
a guy out dress like Lincoln that literally comes in
the fifty yard line dressed up.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yeah, it's actually Caleb Williams.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Exit out bout of Fresco exits and Jay Lincoln painted
his nails. Don't you know that? Yeah, hundred absolutely happened.
Yeah that was great. Uh. Coming up next, we'll preview
fight after a few weeks. Look, we sucked it up
with a lot of bad Uh Monday and Sunday and
Thursday night games. We got a great one tomorrow night.

(13:55):
We'll give you our big pick for Thursday Night football.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Ha Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, we'll get to big story
out of the NFL in a couple of minutes. A
benching we thought was gonna happen on Monday was hinted
that yesterday. Official today. But we are getting set for
a huge Thursday night football game, the big rematch between

(15:07):
the Rams and the Seahawks. Again for my money to
best teams in the NFL. Though, the Seahawks really did
let me down a bit with that lack of an
effort against the Colts last week. Maybe they thought, well,
Philip Rivers hasn't practice, we don't have.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
To practice, succeed and proceed, look ahead game, all of
those things. The only thing they didn't do was treat
their backers to licking bills.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
So Manzie Belang has have talked about this tonight and
the updates that the Rams have had trouble traveling to
Seattle for the game tonight. It doesn't matter DeVante Adams doubtful.
That means he's not gonna play, doesn't matter. This is
about the Rams defense and again top three defense in
the NFL Seahawks top four, top five defense in the

(15:50):
NFL as well. Right, we talk about the Texans and
the Broncos and the Rams and the Chargers in the Seahawks, Right,
there's your best five right there. And I have way
more confidence that the Rams are gonna do to Sam
Donald again what they did to him last time, which
was four picks, and make Sam Donald look like the
old Sam Darnald when he quarterback Carolina and the Jets.

(16:11):
He looks downfield, I don't know what I see. I'm
just gonna throw it up there. Right, certain defenses, the
best defenses, Donald still struggles with a little bit. Right,
we've seen Darnald has come a long way, right, franchise quarterback,
big contract, he's got it. But either I believe in
the Rams as the number one team in the NFL,
or I don't their defense will travel well for this game.
It's a little more concern about the Seahawks now getting

(16:34):
into the end the end of the season. Maybe they're
running out of gas a little bit. It's a short
week for them, especially coming off this game against the
Colts where Philip Rivers almost beat them. But yeah, they'll
make it more, make it more difficult for the Rams.
I'm loving the under in this game. I'm not thinking
the Rams are gonna put up a ton of points.
But overall, when when I look at this, I go, yeah,

(16:54):
the defense will make enough plays, they will get the turnovers.
Even though Jackson Smith and jigg But is still going
to have a big day, still going to go eight
for one hundred and sixty five in a touchdown because
that's how good the guy. Guy's the best receiver in
the NFL. But it's not going to be enough. And
the Rams with another hard fought Thursday Night victory, something
to the tune of seventeen to ten, twenty to ten,

(17:16):
twenty to thirteen, they get a big turnover at the end,
hold on to the football, and the Rams come out
of with the win. And I'll take the under. Receiving
yards over under for JSN is eighty nine and a
half forty two is your total Seahawks and narrow one
and a half point favorite at home.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Talk about the travel issues. That's all final good. The
fact that DeVante Adams is not going to be able
to go pretty big, and you go back to that
twenty one nineteen game at home at so far that
the Rams barely escaped. Even with all the great work
against Sam Darnold and the four picks. Matthew Stafford was

(17:56):
a jag that day, fifteen to twenty eight, one hundred
and thirty yards and two touchdowns. Nikua went for seven
and seventy five. Otherwise you had a lot of one
catch wonders in this one. I'm gonna take the Seattle
defense and the kicking game to get it done. Low scoring,
I think as it goes through. But Jason Myers had

(18:16):
that fifty six yarder to best the Colts. He's big
in this one. I'll still take the under. I still
think you're there, like a twenty four to fourteen kind
of game. How many field goals for Jason Myers is seven?
Does he get seven this week?

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Eight? Eight? We go full eight field? Why do we
go full eight?

Speaker 4 (18:32):
The Rams do all they can to keep the Seahawks
out of the end zone, and we see if he's
got anything left in his leg. It's like you know,
when you're doing free kicks in soccer or corner kicks.
By the end of the second half, you might have
you might have to go to the other leg. So
we'll see if Myers can kick with his left before
it's done.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
So there it is. TNFL A full breakdown tomorrow. Jake
Glazer will join us after the game tomorrow night. Remember
the only show Jay joins on Fox Sports Radio is OURDS.
It's always a must listen. Great game tomorrow night with
the Rams and the Seahawks. Meanwhile, who you're not going
to be seeing I feel like Dan Patrick on Sports Center,
the people you won't be seeing in this highlight. Who
you're not going to be seeing playing quarterback this week

(19:11):
is to a tongue of iloa. The decision made today
the quinnviewers out of Texas is going to start for
the Dolphins. We talked about it Monday night after the game.
Look again, when things happen on a Monday night, it's
three times the effect it has as if you've seen
something happen on a Sunday at one o'clock in the afternoon.
The whole world got to see Tua on Monday night. Struggle,

(19:34):
struggle in the elements, throwing the football, bad habits resurfacing,
and I really think it came down to the fourth quarter.
A lot of decisions that he made, a lot of
decisions the team made. Are they going hurry up? They're not,
then they're hurrying up. It was just it was just
awkward all the way around. And we talked about it
Monday night. How many more Decembers do the Dolphins have
to go in saying, well, we have to win despite

(19:56):
our quarterback. We got to work around two who can't
make the throws his arms and strong enough. So when
you're playing in inclement weather like this, you have to
worry about that, and the fact that he does still
have all these bad habits. He's been in the league
a long time, so I said, this is gonna be it.
This is last year in Miami. Well, yesterday it was
Mike McDaniel who said, I'm looking at everything, evaluating everything.

(20:17):
Who's going to start this week? And today the decision
was made. Tua is out and Quinn viewers is in.
Is this the only out of stages of grief.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Like just day to day that they had to go
through all the different levels and they got through them.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
No, I think that. Well, I think Dolphins fans have
hit acceptance right away that they had to move on
from Tua. I think they were there like a year
ago on acceptance. No, I've accepted this a long time.
I'm ready for the next one. And I know guys
are read just a little bit of what else. Man,
I've accepted. I'm past grief. What's next? Man? Because I
think I'm past it. We're on to Cincinnati. Let's go.

(20:51):
But now there's there's three possibilities for what's next with Tua, right,
and and there's a new one tonight that seems really intriguing.
There's the because you know he's done, a guy doesn't
get benched and somehow gets his job back. I mean,
if Quinn Viewers gets injured or something happens, could he
play there. Yeah, But when you bench your franchise quarterback,

(21:13):
he doesn't suddenly get that job back. You don't work
with them in the off season. They get back, you're done,
you're moving on. It's a lot of money to swallow.
So we know that to a tongue of Ailoa is
done with the Dolphins. Now there's three possibilities. The first
one we talked about last night that he gets Kirk
Cousins because his contract the next two years, it's a
ton of money. Two is a pro right, Kirk Cousins

(21:34):
was a pro. He didn't want to stay, but he
didn't want to give back the money, so the Falcons
made the awkward decision to have him back up Michael
Pennick Junior, and they stuck with it. Man Like, the
Falcons are never gonna admit they made a bad decision
to sign Kirk Cousins and draft Michael Pennock Junior, even
though it was one of those moves fine, both of them. Bad. No, no, no,
we're gonna go. We're gonna go to the wall that

(21:55):
we did the right thing. It worked out okay from
the perspective of there wasn't a lot of a lot
of messiness. Kirk Cousins wasn't causing drama behind the scenes.
It was Michael Pennox's job. He wasn't very good that
he got hurt. Now, Kirk Cousins, a year removed from
his injury, is playing pretty well and maybe he's become
someone that a year from now is a bridge quarterback

(22:17):
someplace else. There's another team that's gonna take his money
for a year or two and say, hey, be our
bridge guy. You played your way that way. So that's
good news for kirk Cousins, but the possibility is out
there that Tua could get Kirk Cousins. He's a pro.
He's not someone that's gonna make waves. He's kind of
like a Russell Wilson, where he's always concerned about his
image and saying and doing the right things. He's someone

(22:37):
that I can see him. Okay, if we can't trade
you and you don't want to take less money, you're
staying and you're backing up whoever is coming in, whether
it's quinn Ewers who catches fire or somebody we get
in the draft. But he can come in being that
backup for at least the next season behind whoever the
quarterback is. I can see that happening in Miami. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
I mean the fact that his contract is so onerous, right,
there's just so much to it. When you're talking about
dead cat money and the different machines that have to
go in order.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
To all of this. It's a all right, worst case scenario.
We have a young guy that that's quarterbacking, that isn't
making much money. We do the dollar cost averaging at
the quarterback position because we're gonna get screwed by what
the cat number is anyway. I mean, you're talking minimum
forty five million dollars of a dead cap hit, and

(23:26):
that's that's that's the best case scenario.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Man.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
That is just that is just a bad, bad way
to be and you've seen it for six years. So
in terms of you know, finding some juice and seeing
if you can't fix it, well, McDaniel's had him long enough,
so you're not suddenly going to find the magical elixir
to make him a number one again.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
So if that happens and he stays, that's possibility number one.
Number two. The trade we talked about last night for
different reasons, talking about money and moving on from problems
to a Kyler Murray works for both sides. Yes, the
Dolphins would be getting the better quarterback, but they're also
in for more money because Murray's contract goes an extra year.

(24:08):
But when you have two problems and you have money
that you're paying out, hey, maybe it works out in
the desert for Tua in better weather and even the
away games are gonna be in better weather for him,
And maybe he fights it out with Jacoby Brissett and
it works because you're not paying Jacoby Brissett. But maybe
TWA comes wins the job and does well for the Dolphins.
You have a brand new quarterback and Kyler Murray. Maybe

(24:29):
that works with Mike McDaniel, So that works on a
couple of levels. But let me throw this one at you,
because this is one that I really could see this happen,
because this is exactly what this team does. I can see.
Money is a thing. But who's a team that in
the last five years money hasn't seemed to matter to Again,

(24:49):
I can't die. I'm not a capologist. Well the dog, well,
the Dodgs just defer all that money. Man, that's fine.
This guy doesn't have enough of an arm crack the rotation. Though.
They gotta pay like two guys a billion dollars in
like five years, like they're gonna have to sell the
team before they know that billies do. But did you
see the math, Like they've already made the money. Yeah, yeah,
like it's already there.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
It's already now just gaining interest in whatever they've put
it in in terms of real estate paintings in the
open market, crypto.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
I mean, whatever it is. You know, he got a
lot of stuff. You still got to cut those big
checks though in a few years though, no, no, no, sure,
but it'll be good paying those out of the interest. So, uh,
who is okay with spending all kinds of crazy money?
Again not a capology. I don't grown what every year,
but they do my bike Brown, Hey, he's got enough

(25:41):
on his plate with Joe Burrow wanting out. Uh, they
make trades for vets. They bring guys in for a
couple of years. When it doesn't work, they move on.
How about because you can always make the money work
whatever it's going to wind up being. There's always a
you know, an an f them pick situation. But it
would be a typical Rams thing to do to go

(26:02):
out and get Tua to come in and with Sean McVeigh.
You're not gonna be under a better quarterback coach than
Sean McVay. Who is gonna say, okay, Matthew is the
guy now. And obviously Matthew Stafford's gonna be around for
another year. Guy's gonna win MVP this year, so he's
not gonna walk away. So Matthew's gonna be around another year. Tua,
you are coming in and you are the heir apparent.

(26:22):
We are turning the job over to you in a
year or two. Get comfortable in the system, get respect
to your teammates. Back here, take some time, decompress. Don't
have to worry about leading the team. You know, get
back to the player that will work. You were. We'll
get you back to the player that you were, and
you will take over when Matthew Stafford retires. Right again,
the money's the thing to figure out, But the Rams

(26:44):
always found a way to figure out money. Maybe it's
we'll give you a better draft pick, you pay the money.
We'll give you a much better draft pick because we've
taken care of our next quarterback. We'll give you a
first round pick for Tua and but you're paying the money. Okay, great,
we'll do it because our next quarterback is in the
draft anyway, all right, we'll do that. There's ways to
make it happen. The Rams always seem to find a
way to make trades like this happen. So while the

(27:05):
money is daunting, we never thought it would happen with
Russell Wilson, never thought it would happen with Aaron Rodgers.
Guess what had happened with both those guys. So I'll
take the Rams and it'd be a typical Sean McVeagh
thing to do, because you know, all coaches. They have
the egos they want to be someone. Hey, he's a
project for me. I want to get I can get
him back to be in the Pro Bowl quarterback that
he was a couple of years ago. Yeah, come in

(27:27):
wait and he takes over as our quarterback and he's
twenty eight, twenty nine years old. I feel pretty good
because you know, they brought in Stafford when he was
thirty three, thirty four, and Stafford thought he was done,
he was never gonna win a game with the Lions.
All of a sudden, he shows up. Now he's won
a Super Bowl, he's gonna win the MVP. He's gonna
get more money next year. Hey. It could also be
a big thing to Stafford saying, Hey, don't sit here

(27:48):
and waffle about wanting more money in the offseason like
you've done the last three years. We'll turn things over
to Tua. But mainly it's gonna be Hey, we saw
it work with Stafford when he was in his in
the early thirties. It'll work with two the other side
of thirty exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome.
Jason Smith Mike Harmon Live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios time how to find out what's trending in the

(28:10):
wide world of sports on Manci Milanos, who was spent
tonight counting the banners hanging in the Intuit Dome. Yeah, Moncy,
what's happening.

Speaker 6 (28:19):
Yeah, we're gonna start like that, are we, Jason.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
I'm just asking. I know you've been Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (28:25):
Yeah, thank you. I think there's zero. I think there's
zero hanging.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
There's no banner for Taylor Swift stelling out concerts or anything.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
No, that's that's that crypto.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
You'd never put up a banner for signing Kawhi Leonard
and then re signing Kawhi Leonard. There was no banner.

Speaker 6 (28:41):
No, no, no, I just put that on my fridge. Oh okay,
sure yeah yeah yeah sure yeah.

Speaker 7 (28:48):
Anyway, anyway, guys, I don't know if the Rams have left.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
I'm trying to figure out if the Rams have left
to Seattle.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
About four hours ago, it was reported that they were
going to be significantly delayed because there was an equipment
issue with their plane.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
There on a short.

Speaker 7 (29:05):
Week headed to Seattle to play the Seahawks for Thursday
night football.

Speaker 6 (29:09):
And there's no report. I can't find if they've left
or not.

Speaker 7 (29:13):
But the Rams are also listing wide receiver DeVante Adams
as doubtful for that game because of his hamstring injury.
Other NFL news, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was kept at
home on Wednesday due to the flu. The Dolphins bench
quarterback to a Toko bay Lows So a rookie seventh
round draft pick quin Yours is going to start Sunday's
game against the Bengals, and the Jets are once again

(29:35):
going to start undrafted rookie Brady Cook at quarterback Sunday
at New Orleans. Texans running back Woody Marks did not
practice today because of his ankle injury. In the NBA,
the Lakers have ruled out DeAndre eight and for Thursday's
game at Utah.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
Josh Giddy recorded.

Speaker 7 (29:51):
His six triple double of the season and the Bulls
outscored the Cavaliers won twenty seven to one eleven.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
Jaron Jackson Junior had a double.

Speaker 7 (29:59):
Double boys and twelve rebounds, and the Grizzlies top the
Timberwolves in Minnesota, win sixteen to one ten. In men's
college Shops Number thirteen, Vanderbilt survived seventy seven to seventy
against Memphis in overtime, so they're still undefeated. In the
NHL one game going on right now, the Devils lead
the Golden Knights one zero with about five minutes to

(30:20):
go in the third period. Hurricanes extended their winning streak
to five after defeating the Predators four to one, and
the Panthers topped the Kings three to two.

Speaker 6 (30:29):
LA has lost four in a row.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch mon yess the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harma. Just
think about that harm We could get Tua because I'm
putting that out there because I don't want to in
New York. You're just gonna try to throw up darts
at every other city in the NFL. How about Gary
and Neiana while you're at it. You will, Yeah, we'll Trednitar.

(30:55):
The Jets will trade him in division. Don't you never
want to trade a guy in division? Yeah, but it's
the Jets and we think he's going to be terrible.
Oh okay, all right.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Have you seen tu Us deep ball of late? Have
you seen what happens with the medicine balls he's throwing
come December?

Speaker 1 (31:12):
No, I like that.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
As you were going down the McVeigh highway, right, you
got Shanahan up the coast a little bit, same idea
quarterback fixer whisper or whatever. The forty nine ers in
that luxurious position though that they have Mac Jones under
contract for another year in this topsy turvy quarterback world.
But yeah, it's all a matter of how do you

(31:36):
solve the money right as much as the Rams you know,
are willing to spend, and we've seen it, and they've
been creative, and they've had their blank those picks moments,
they've been pretty good at the ones that they have made.
For one, they have two in the first round this year,
their own and then whatever becomes of the Falcons pick,
which as of right now is number ten. So I mean,

(31:59):
they've got opportunity, need to make some noise there on
a cost effective deal while they wait the inevitable off
season of Matthew Stafford will orwoni will we get some
more back reports because I remember how bad his back
was supposed to be, Like he was gonna eat a cane,
like he was Dick van Dyke walking.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Around, Happy birthday. Dick van Dyke just turned a hundred
the other day.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
No, that's it, But I mean remember when he was
feigning to be the old guy all the way back
in the day, the original Mary Poppins, when he was
and then he flipped it off to the side and
started doing his dance. Well, that's kind of what I'm
looking at with Matthew Stafford. Oh look at me, I'm old,
I'm feeble. Hey, I'm an MVP Finals. He's gonna lose
to Josh Allen, so it's not gonna matter. But in
the end, it's that question into the offseason. I don't

(32:42):
know that I want behind door number two, the question
of hey can I fix TUA to have to take
up a lot of Sean mcvay's time.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Done, Exit out out of Fresco, X Smith Mike Harmon
live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. We got more
NFL on the way, but straight ahead, a big breaking

here's the Christmas music with the rock lyrics. Instead, now
we get the we get the music and then and
then you know, we get the musical lyrics as done

(33:45):
by Tom York. Yeah, next next level here, I mean
that that is that that is the Uncle Charlie of
Uncle Charlie's.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
And the fact that we're talking over it is just disrespectful.

Speaker 8 (33:56):
Well, what the hell am I gonna get for Christmas?
The Knicks are the Cup cham.

Speaker 9 (34:15):
Bengal, Fox Sports Radio, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, Yes, and
the musical stylings of whatever mashup Justin and Alex have
going on.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Maybe next hour we get a little bit of earth
a Kit and King diamond.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
Man.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Maybe see we get that little Ezma little new Groove
mixed with King Diamond I like it. Maybe who knows,
you know, maybe I don't know. Uh So big basketball
news and starting to gain a lot of attention here.
Sometimes we're the news here at Fox Sports Radio, and
this is one of those times.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Just before we hit the air tonight, Doug Gottlieb, who's
been our teammate here at Fox Sports Radio the last
ten twelve years, done tons of shows with Doug and
Doug going back to our days at ESPN. Doug announced
he is stepping away from his radio show here at
Fox and going to put total focus on his coaching responsibilities. Now,
remember Doug was hired a little over a year ago,

(35:18):
and I'm gonna continue. I'm gonna do my daily radio shows,
two hour show, middle of the day and still able
to coach Green Bay when this happened. This is a
huge story and I get why both sides wanted it.
Right for us here at Fox, Wow, here's Doug and
he has been a national guy for the last twenty
some odd years and here he is now a coaching
basketball Okay, hey, let's see how it goes. It helps

(35:40):
both of us. For Green Bay, for the Phoenix, I
get it. If this was UCLA or Indiana or Michigan,
like they're gonna say, no, you're not hosting a show,
you're coaching college basketball with us. But for Green Bay, yeah,
it worked because, Yeah, Doug coming in, he's a big personality.
Everybody knows him. He's coming in. It helps Green Bay

(36:00):
with their visibility and their relevance, and people know Doug
coming in to recruit, so they're like Hey, let's see
how it goes, right, let's try it out work. And
it was fascinating. Right now, the Green Bay is playing
really well. The last couple of weeks has got the
record near five hundred one, like five out of their
last seven. I mean, Doug did throw a chair a
couple of games ago, which there was that.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Well, that was the one where he had the three
game winning streak and then down the stretch and you know,
as he said, some bad decisions whatever and the chair,
and he addressed it all on the show. But you know,
he had a three game winning streak, and you look
at as you said, winners of five of seven and
really trending and playing good basketball. They've already won two
more games than they did all last year.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
I like how he said. I wasn't They said I
threw a chair, and I'm listening, going, Oh, come on, Doug,
he goes, I was simply moving the chair. I was moving.
I was just moving it out of the way. I
was I had to move a chair, so I moved
the chats all I moved the chair. I thought, Well,
like I said, you couldn't prove it was him, like
he went down that tunnel. But you never actually saw him.
He just saw him go back and and you saw
a chair. It was Doug Gottlieb cosplay night, and it

(37:03):
was someone dressed just like him who threw the chair.
But I'll say now what I said at the time,
and that's this that eventually, this decision of Doug having
to pick one to the other, this was inevitable, right
because stepping into this yet it's a situation that is great,
it works for both sides. Is it always gonna work

(37:23):
for both sides? Right? Is it always going to be
something not just from hey, is Fox gonna be happy?
And is Green Bay going to be happy? But is
Doug gonna be happy? Right? Because you know, listen, you
know Doug's couple of years younger than I am. You know,
neither of us are in our twenties, and the days
of waking up and having endless energy and being able
to balance family. You know what we have going on
in our personal lives with professionally, that goes out the window. Right,

(37:46):
You're talking about having two full jobs and trying to
navigate your family. He told a story about having his
kids in town and he had to he couldn't have
dinner with them because he had to get out, you
had to go to a game, and it became a
point where it was just too much. And yeah, so
that that's why I said it's gonna be inevitable that
eventually you're gonna you're gonna get to a point where

(38:08):
I can't do all of this anymore. Right, we understand
we're not as young as we used to be or
whatever it is, or our energy is not there and
look to be as energetic on it like I get
it for the fay. I can do both and it's great,
but when you go through the rigors of I gotta
do my show, then I gotta travel that I got
to come back and do my show. That when I
could use two hours to just be by myself, I

(38:28):
gotta be on because I got to bring it on
the radio for two hours and a podcast every day.
Right after doing that for year and a half, I
can see where it's, you know, this is a little
bit too much, and I, you know, for my own sanity,
from my own energy, for my own you know situation,
I kind of have to pick one or the other.
And you know, knowing Doug's he's done radio for so long,

(38:51):
Big Net, you know, TV radio forever. You know, he
loves doing it. But seeing him and talking to him
about coaching coaching lights him up, right, something that's new
to him now, coaching at this college level. He's coached
youth sports for a long time. Look, I get it.
Coaching lights me up. I love doing that. It was awesome,
the levels of you know, the different sports coaching. It's awesome,
I understand. And it's still somewhat of a newer thing

(39:13):
to him because here he is no no college coaching experience.
He jumps in. He's coaching you know, Green Wisconsin, Green Bay.
So I get choosing this. I get it's the thing
that he really wants to do, the itch he wants
to continue to scratch and wants to put all of
his energy into. So I get it. You know, I
just go back to the beginning that, Yeah, you knew
at some point he was going to have to make

(39:33):
a choice, and he's doing it, and he's choosing Green Bay,
and it's the right call, choosing those kids that he recruited.
It's the right thing for Doug, and I wish him
all the best and going forward. No, absolutely right, You're
burning the candle on both ends. And then trying to
light the middle of it. Something's got to give. So
even if your performance in terms of checking a box
is done, are you really able to do it to

(39:56):
your fullest? To your point about energy, also just what
you're bringing in in terms of how you function, right,
whether you become more irritable, And I'm not saying that
for Dog, I'm saying that in general. Right, if you're
run down things.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
That normally don't bother you, you know, you're a little
more sensitive to whatever else, and it starts to affect
the people around you.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
And I'm sure as he talked about with his kids,
it became you know.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
All right, now you realize where you're at, You got
a team that you're doing great things. And remember this
radio ain't going anywhere. Coaching jobs might exit out about
a Fresca exit. Swallow Dove got a big story out
of the NFL next
