Let's give this.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
I'm on see what on?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yess greetings, Welcome inside Hour three The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, And my goodness, did
we get drama on Thursday Night football? The Rams did
not rest until they gave this game to the Seahawks.

(00:51):
Stafford hooks up with Pooka Nakua to give the Rams
a thirty seven to thirty lead in overtime. And I know,
I gotta look up, like off the top of my head,
I don't know the last time has a team ever
scored a touchdown to be the first team to score
a touchdown in overtime and gone on to lose the game?
Like has that happened? Like I don't know at the

(01:12):
top of my head, if that's happened. It seems like
that graphic could be in front of me. Yeah, I mean,
I mean, maybe maybe Sarah Lanx has it, you know.
But Sam Darnald takes the Seahawks down the field a
touchdown pass to Jackson Smith and the JIGBA. They decide
to go for two. Great gutsy call and Sawbert comes
down with the ball in the middle of the field.

(01:34):
Donald under pressure buys time and Sawbert is wide open
just inside the goal line. He makes the catch. In
a few minutes, we'll play you the play by play
call and you'll hear just how stunned the Seahawks play
by play team was that they won this game. But
it was an absolute thriller. It goes to the Seahawks

(01:54):
right now in the driver's seat for the number one
seed in the NFC. And there is nobody better to
talk to an NFL on five insider extraordinaire, Jay Glazer.
He is on Twitter at Jay Glazer Jay Happy Thursday.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Mike Pulse is still racing from that game.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Wow, how about that one man that you know what,
these two teams, they're gonna be doing this that there
for a long time.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Uh, you know what, what do you make I love
the call at the end. We're gonna go for two.
Our defense has just been getting worked.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
They had to do that, Yeah, had to because even
if it was a tie, the Rams would have still
held the time breakers, so they had to go for it.
And that's kind of yeah, it's man, you know, efensively,
they're real aggressive offensively elect what they're doing Seattle. But
you know, this is just his second year of Mike
McDonald and you know a lot of people didn't know
about him, but Josh Schneider did and he was locked

(02:42):
in on him to be their head coach. It really was.
You know, what he's done with his team in such
a short period of time, it's really been just amazing.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
It's an absolutely insane way to kick off the next
week of action here, Jay. I mean, we've watched his
team's battle to a total of forty points struggling just
a couple of weeks ago, and to come back with
this high flying action really now what you expected, squads?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah? Now, I also think the big thing for Lea
Seattle was Sam Darnel, right, Like, man, they needed to
win a big game. Sam, need to win a big game, yep.
And for surely defensive cordinator, whether he's been at Seattle,
whether he's been in Minnesota, he's had his number and
had a number in the first half. And the adjustments
that they made and the way Sam was able to
step up, I think gives them confidence now, right, any

(03:33):
big game with this guy, we could win. And you
know we knew defensively they're a bit Seattle team is tough,
and you know the Rams obviously offensive, evening about Devonte
Adams early on there their way, but man, this is
a this is a huge win, huge for the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
M Now, I know how how well you know Sean McVeigh.
I don't know how you text.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Them after that. I don't do really well. Also, so
it's two of them, happened to live here, but no,
really well, but I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Know how how long do you wait to text him
after this, because this is a game where the Rams
have to.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Say right after you know what it is. It's not
just him. I text all my friends, most of my
friends after they lose, because nobody does. Oh yeah, because
that's just suddenly it's really lonely when you lose. Whether
they're coaches, players, coordinators, I just know how it is.
You feel like then everybody hates me, no one wants

(04:34):
to be you know, I'm useless, I'm getting fired like
it's you know, need to be crazy to be on
this level. Well, the room eens in your head really
started chirping him A bad losses. So I always always
step up to friends of mine and lose and lose badly,
and you know, ends up. It's very appreciated. You know,
you don't know what to say, but I don't want

(04:56):
them to just sit there with no one where everybody
else runs away. You know, you got to run two
people when they're down. Man that run away, you know.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
But but I Jay, you know I'm a Jets fan.
I've never gotten one text with you after Jets game.
All we do is lose.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
You could have picked that one, I get. I gave
up on that for you. I don't have enough.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, you just you just you just set the tweet,
like to send it. I'm gonna send it at four
fifteen pm every Sunday to Jason. Hey, sorry about that,
and it just got you up to worry about it.
Just set it and forget it. That's how it goes.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
We know what the problem is there. That's yeah, but
I will, I'll you know, and and uh sometimes Sean
and do with it. Sometimes your melt down and that's fine.
But you know this this uh, this one's gonna sting them.
So you know from number one bounce, I don't know
what they dropped through her, but you know, lose, don't
field avantage. That's that's a difficult one for them. You know.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
The one thing I had to say, Jay coming off
of tonight, We'll get to Pooka in a second, is that,
I know, Josh.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Allen, Yeah, I will, I will say this thing. Yeah
about all Remember last year we were I was talking about, hey,
you're gonna rest if they won their last game. They
were facing like a they won the last team, They're
gonna face the worst team first round of playoffs. He

(06:18):
decided to rest everybuddy. He said, why isn't it like
better for you because then you get to face you know,
this worst team the first round. He's like, if we're
gonna get the super Bowl, we gotta play them all.
It doesn't matter to me. So he did what you know,
the option of what people think you would do because
you want a better first round game. You're like No,
if we're gonna get the Super Bowl, we gotta play
them all anyway. I care about the Super Bowls. I

(06:39):
don't care about winning one game at a time.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Jake Glazer with US, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon Lot from
the Fox Sports Radio studios. All right, now, you know
one thing McVeigh is gonna look at and go man
Without DeVante Adams tonight, Matthew Stafford goes for four point
fifty and three touchdowns. I know other quarterbacks that are
coming on strong, and Josh Allen's coming on strong. But Jay,
after tonight, I don't know how you look at anybody
but Matthew Stafford for the MVP of the league, it's

(07:02):
really hard.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, you know, what Stafford's done has been absolutely ridiculous.
And yeah, I mean I agree with him, you know, obviously, Josh,
because there's nobody else you know that you can he's
doing without the weapons at half of your house. But
I don't care. Weapons are no weapons. But what Matthew's
done this year is just insane. I agree with it,
absolutely agree.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Now, Jay, obviously we're hoping for a better weekend. Here's
the first start of it. But you know, you look
at mahomes Micah. Two huge losses for the Packers. They've
got the Bears on Saturday and a return bout. You know,
how much does they have to change things Halflee and
what he comes in. They're gonna have.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
To change things they are because they had a certain
plan for Micah for this game. Obviously they can't do
that now. For Yeah, they're they're going to change certain
things up. And they got they lost their safety. I mean,
they're they're banged up. They're very banged up, you know,
so I think there's gonna be certain things. But it's
also part of this coaching is like you've got to
make sure that everyone doesn't feel deflated because you lost

(08:05):
to one guy. That's huge. It's huge part of coaching.
And you can do as much as want, but you really,
you got you're gonna have to in this case. You
gotta see on Saturday if that resonated with guys of
that or if they're you know, certain teams rally, they
lose somebody and then sudd they get everybody steps up
right and you know, and like when Joe Borrow first

(08:27):
came back that first game, a defense only it's been
coaches all year, all of a sudden, they were great, right,
so you could rally around certain things. They're gonna have
to rally that Mike is not there. You know, that's
just a That'sytiannus. Truth is they're gonna have to look
at it and go, no, the sky didn't fall. We're
here for certain reason that it's time for us to
step up, make him proud.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Do you think, Jay, you look at all these look
big games this week and obviously we talked you know,
Bears and Bears and the Packers and everything else. Is
do you see the Seahawks with home field at the
end of all of this in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I think where they're sitting right now, Chaddle's a tough team.
Man at defense is ridiculous. It's you know, they're they're offensively,
they're really well balanced, run against fantastics and this is
out without their left tackle. To night, it was a
they're a tough team. They're you know, I said it
on our kickoff show. The two teams you don't want

(09:21):
to face down the stretch for the Seahawks and the
Texans because of their defense, you just don't want to
see them, and they show watch tonight. I know the
high tour game, but but still, I think Seattle's defense
down the stretch. You just don't look the Rams that
o to attack them. Most don't. They're just a tough team.
They're tough defense.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
The old familiarity breeds contempt and potentially about performance for
the Rams. The other thing Sean McVay had to navigate
is this whole Puka Nakua thing. You know, the league
has to chime in on.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
The I'm sure he's thrilled about that. I haven't talked
about that, but I can only imagine they want thrilled
it by that.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
Yeah, yeah, certainly, not not going into this type of
game or any point, especially with all the different subplots
that came along with it. Jay, how do you how
does the league respond with anything other than a statement?
I mean, he gets suspended for a sea Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
No, I'm sure he's gonna get a hafty five about
the officials that I'm sure about. And you know, as
far as the anti Semitic stuff, I'm gonna take him
overseas or I don't think he knew. And I gotta
be honest with you, guys, I'm Jewish. I didn't know.
I was like Okay, So no, I didn't know that
that's what it was. I think people are so looking

(10:38):
for anything right now. Oh look what he did. I
really don't think you knew. Now the other stuff he
said that he knows, you can't say.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah, I'm a pretty I think I feel pretty good
about this.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
That Sean McVay is going to say, hey.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Let's call it on the live streams until the end
of the sea, well, let's not have that.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Or the fact that he invited into the facility on Tuesday,
the one day that could practice.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
You know, you can follow on Twitter at Jay Glazer.
That is at Jay Glazer. Jay again, Happy holidays, Thanks
so much. We'll talk to you and enjoy the night.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
See you aboudy.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
There it goes, Jay. Yeah, I mean I don't think
the live streams will be Uh. I don't there'll be
an issue anymore.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
No, I think you want to button that up for
the last can you know, wait until the Super Bowl's done,
whether we're raising a championship, you know, a true finish
to a season championship, uh, and we've got the confetti
or you want to be consoled by your followers afterwards,
have at it.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
But until then, put the phone away. Uh so again
reaction off of this go. Look, this will be the
highest rated Thursday night game probably of the year, with
so much at stake, both of these teams, two big markets.
Uh you know, Look, we're getting towards the holidays, people
looking for some I've watched Diehard one thousand times. I'm
gonna watch again, and you know, we get to overtime
and it's it's an absolute thriller. And really, I mean,

(11:59):
if you are a joking around with Jay about the
texta Sean McVay, but wow, I don't know, man, if
you're Sean McVay, like, this is one of those games
that keeps you up and you stare at the ceiling
and go so many times we had them, they made
so many mistakes, We forced them into so many mistakes
and still we lost the game.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
Well but you know, give them. This is where you
give a little credit to Seattle. As Jay laid out right,
they didn't go away. They got a couple of big
stops down the stretch when they needed to, forcing punts,
forcing their own action with the punt return for a touchdown.
You know, we had some gafs along the way. We
had the Cooper Cup fumble in the red zone. Early

(12:39):
we had a missed forty eight yard field goal that
looked good and it was almost like divine intervention came
in and just swept it off the screen. So all
sorts of big spots and when they needed a throw,
Sam Darnell was there, but to just to punctuate what
Jay had to say in terms of checking in on
guys after losses. Look, it's the holidays. We know people

(12:59):
struggled during the holidays, and this is where they do
need a little pick me up, even if it is
to mock them for their fantasy, futility or whatever the
case may be. Check in on your people. You know
they may be having a down day and you know,
just a little note to know that you're out there
may be a big help.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
I mean, Monsey needs some help. I know one hundred percent. Well,
she's mad at myers going against Puka Nakua Yea and
his forty six points in fantasy. When I cause, I
said to her through the glass, just to you know,
I can tell the story through the glass. Through the glass,
I said, I did with my fingers. I went forty
five and I said sorry, and Mons looked out me
and said four, and then she put up six, and

(13:38):
then she put up another finger all by itself after
at me to to to let me know it's forty
six and not forty five.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
So is the celebration of the bear's forty six defens?

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yes, it was, Yes, Yeah, I got forty six and
then another finger. You can guess which finger I got
well and the bonus Yes, wait, thirty eight, thirty seven,
the final. We are just getting. I feel like we're
just getting. Can't wait to the race game. I can't
wait to hear your apology to Sam Donald.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
Coop you know what the.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Tube Jason, me let me finish?

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Yeah, what what?

Speaker 1 (14:07):
I can't wait for your apology to Sam Donald. Maybe
I'll apologize next. Maybe I should do it right now. No,
maybe I won't. Maybe I won't have to apologize to
Sam Darnald way he played tonight. You better now, or
maybe I will. We got two quarterbacks to break down Stafford,
the guy that Jets traded away, and more next right here,

all of you, apologize, all of you. Just It's the
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon live from the Fox
Sports Sam Darnold's Apology Show with Jason Smith. Let me
just say something we had better be an apology. Hang on,
would you don't put words in I don't bully me.

(15:49):
I'll take you guys, to Human Resources. The good I'm
getting bullied on the air.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Have that.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Yeah, I'll find here's the quarter I'll dial. I'll just
I'll just dress somebody up to pretend to be like
the h I'll just accepted. I'll get my dad to
come and pretend to be the HR guy. Can we
get Lewis Black to actually reprises? Wait, the HR guy's
wearing a Neon T shirt and a Yankee hat backwards
and he's like seventy okay, yeah, sure that's We do

(16:15):
have something big on poka Akua coming up in a
little bit, crossing our t's and dotting our eyes on
it because it's really crazy, but we did. We do
need to talk about the quarterbacks here for a second,
and I will say, Sam Darnold, I am sorry. I
apologize for the way the Jets treated you. No, no, no,

(16:40):
he said, that's my apology. No that's what what what
what you said? Apology? I'm sorry for how the Jets. No,
you don't speak for the Jets. You speak for you.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Yeah, you can't put half your ass in Okay.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Alrighty okay, okay, nope, try again. No, Sam, I know
the Jets screwed your career, Jason, You've got to be sincere. However, however,
I apologize for how the Jets screwed your career. I

(17:16):
am sorry. No, No, that was fine, you said I
need to apologize. No, no, you're making it all about
the Jets. It's this joint. It's not a Jets apology.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
I'm I'm I'm I'm apologizing.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
For for how the Jets, for yourself, I did Jets,
I was apologized. Okay, all right, all right, that was okay, okay, okay,
it was a really long preamble. Okay, all right, Sam Donald,
I am sorry. I am sorry for how bad you

(17:48):
were with the Jets, for how difficult you made things
early in your career. I'm sorry for the lack of touchdowns.
I'm sorry that it didn't work in Carolina. Sorry it
didn't work in San Francisco. Sorry after thirty five touchdowns

(18:09):
to fight, not gonna come just being negative. No, apologize
for his whole career, all the way, every step of
the way.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
For the guy.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
I apologize for you. I just did.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
No, no, no, no. It's supposed to be an apology
towards your dismissiveness and hatred of the man versus trying
to say, hey, you suck and then come back with
a one, you know, a fifty one liner at.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
The end, like you can't, like, you can't do four
minutes of oh glad.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
You were terrible. And then in week twelve you did
this and then you took that sack, which really made
no sense. I mean, that's where you were going with this,
and eventually, I mean we got to move the movie along.
He did, He did take a lot of bad sacks
to that.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Well, I'm not saying he told me only he's not
going anywhere until he apologize. No, that's just it.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
I mean, we're trying to green light the Sam Donald story.
It's a story of love and redemption. Okay, all right,
all right, all right, I'm waiting on Thursday night. Here
we go. I got, I got, I go.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Okay, Sam Darnold, I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
You were good.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
You were good. The Jets just screwed up your career
and it didn't happen.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
But you were good. Yeah, you made some mistakes, maybe
a few more, maybe a lot of them, but you
were good.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
And it only took fourst other stops in the NFL
to find where you are now at the top of
the NFC with the Seattle Seahawks. This journey would not
be made possible without the failures of the Jets early
and it's not the music. Let the show go on.
We're clearly not gonna apologize him.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
Did I said he was good in the Jets?

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Screw he was good? Yes, I said he was good
to Jet he was great. He was he was never
great with the Jets. He was great tonight.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
He was He's all about tonight.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
He was great in the in the end of the third,
fourth quarter, in overtime, he was awful the first two
and an that's when you need your quarterback to be great.
This is true. When's last he was? When's the last
time you think I saw apologize right in the fourth
quarter with my team? When do you think I've ever seen?
Have I ever seen that?

Speaker 5 (20:10):
Never recited all the time? You remember, Randy Van Warmer,
Normally you left me just what I needed you most, No, no, no,
when they needed it most, Sam the mustachioed I gotta go,
Kevin Harlan, the mustachioed Sam Donald led them to greatness
and when they needed him to take a giant wheelbarrow

(20:30):
to take well his personage onto.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
The field, and I think you all know what I'm
saying here. He made the play of place and he found.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
His man to stick that dagger into the dragon or
a ram in this case.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
We say all the time, okay, and this is this
is Sam Darnald is now become the shining example of
how you never give up on a quarterback taken that
high in the first round, when you have that pedigree,
there's a reason why you're taking third overall, you're taking
in the top five, you're taking in the top ten

(21:06):
if you're a third round pick or a fourth round pick,
and you flash and things happened. Okay, you know, listen,
we evaluated you off of your entire career. This is
where we thought you were. This is how good we
thought you were going to be. And we say it
all the time. There's a system for everybody. You just
have to be fortunate enough to find it. Now, the
system wasn't there with the Jets, wasn't there with the Panthers.

(21:28):
He was a cup of coffee with the forty nine ers,
but he wasn't going to really get a chance to play.
System was there with the Vikings, and the Vikings have
to watch the night's game. Ago, Man, we still really
biffed that decision for JJ McCarthy. And now the system
is there with the Seahawks, right, because this is a
game where he was terrible the first two and a
half quarters. Bad interceptions, bad throws.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Again.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
I don't know how the Rams didn't win this game
by three touchdowns. But third quarter, fourth quarter, when the
Rams loosened up defense a little bit, suddenly JSN got involved,
who was shut out out for the entire first half.
The Rams gotta take a little bit of ownership on
this because when they had that two touchdown lead, they
probably they felt a little bit that, Okay, she don't
want to make mistakes. I want to let him back

(22:09):
in the game with a big, quick, slightning type score. Well,
then you shouldn't have pun in to Rashisha Heat. But
this shows you that this is why you don't give
up on a guy that's taken that high. And you
just have to be fortunate enough if you're that player,
to find the system that fits you. Because Sam Darnold
is not good everywhere, right, he wasn't good with the
Jets where they took him. We're gonna make you our
guy was not good there. Hey Carolina Panthers, we're gonna

(22:31):
make you our guy. He was not good there. He
was good with the Vikings. He's been really good with
the Seahawks. But you can see that it's not blanketly
across the board. Wherever he goes, you have to find
that place. And that's why I look at Knights like
tonight and I see how we stayed in it even
though they could have lost his game. He could have turned,
he could have said, not my night. The Rams are

(22:51):
not down a team I want to play against, and
this is just not gonna be the not gonna be
the night for us here. But instead they stayed with it.
They're down seven points in overtime, he leads him down
and throws a touchdown, then buys time for the two
point conversion. It was incredible. Like I watched tonight and
I keep going, man, what did the Vikings really think
they were doing and saying, no, we're okay with letting

(23:13):
this guy walk after he works so well in our system,
because that's part of it too. The Vikings drafted JJ
McCarthy thinking, oh, we like the guy. You have no
idea if he's gonna work in your system. He still
really don't right, He's looked bad more than he's looked good.
Now there's been a little bit signs of encouragement, but
for the most part, he's looked worse than he has
looked good. But you knew Sam darnoald worked in your system.

(23:35):
He had two bad games at the end of the
year against the best offensive team in the NFL, and
then you had the playoff game. Okay, you know what,
that happens. It happens. But like they wanted to say, okay,
that gives us the excuse to move on from him.
We're gonna ignore the first fifteen weeks and the Pro
Bowl caliber play that he gave us. This guy was
dropped in our bleeping lap and he's only starting because
McCarthy got hurt beginning of last year. And we're still saying, no,

(23:57):
we are letting you go. You had a guy that
worked in your system with your head coach, and you
decided because of two games and because you took a
guy in the first round that you had no idea, Well,
we got to be loyal to him. You gotta be
loyal to the guy that does things for you. JJ
McCarthy had done nothing for the Vikings. At that point,
you could have kept Sam Donald around for at least
a year because he saw McCarthy clearly could have used

(24:18):
more time, more reps getting ready. But that's the thing,
that's why you don't give up on a guy who
has taken that high. You just have to be lucky
to find the system. And boy, Sam Donald, he feels
like a bargain at three years and thirty million dollars
a year. When you look at some of the average
quarterbacks in the NFL, two was making fifty million a year.
He's not even gonna be a starter next year, right,
Trevor Lawrence had to have six touchdowns against the Jets.

(24:40):
People to think, hey, maybe he's turned the corner a
little bit. But these are guys making fifty to fifty
five million dollars a year, like Sam Donald feels like
a bonus at thirty million a year for this year,
in the next two years of the Seahawks.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
Well, to be fair, I mean, when you compare him
to two and Lawrence, teams had to make a decision
are they good enough and trending to where we have.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
To resign him.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
Sam to your point, had bounced around a bunch. Now, Carolina,
we could say in that regime they didn't quite get
it right because you had him and Baker Mayfield in
the building, right, two guys that have gone on to
hundreds of millions of dollars of earnings and a lot
of big moments. You let both of them walk San Francisco.
You had guys. He was there, might have been his system,

(25:21):
you don't know. He never got on the field, so
it didn't matter. Minnesota. I'll always be curious why they
didn't franchise him dollar cost average with your rookie quarterback
and McCarthy coming back, because look, we talked about McCarthy
a bunch and while it's been horrior dead times, he
hadn't played a lot of football, right. This goes back
to the collegiate starts and all of those kinds of

(25:42):
things when you're trying to evaluate quarterbacks. Same thing in
the NFL. I don't know how good or bad he is.
I would really hope you at some point he and
Justin Jefferson get to shake hands at the after a
touchdown pass or something like that.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
How usaid a touchdown pass for Justin Jefferson. That's fat.

Speaker 5 (25:57):
Fantasy number seventy three last week, But just saying that, Look,
we have no idea where that's going, but your point's
well established, right, go back to if you make a
bet on your quarterback in the draft, we don't know
if you're the only team that had him up there, right,
people can tell you they're blue in the face. Ah
the Bears were the only team that loved Mitchell Trubisky. Oh,

(26:18):
they might have burned instead of posting hah see, we
didn't have him on our first run. No, nobody does that,
Like nobody shows you they're board, so you have no
idea how they're valued. And once you get to the
second contract or your second team, all bets are off. Right,
Mitchell Trubisky might be the guy in Buffalo because they
keep bringing him back, so they obviously think they like him.

(26:38):
But until he plays a bunch of games, that means
Josh Allen's not around. Yeah, so obviously there's gonna be
a decided drop off no matter who's under center. But
when we look at what Sam Darnold's done for the
Seahawks squad, a defense that struggled at times, and then look,
Matthew Stafford did whatever the hell he wanted for much
of this game, and yet they still walk away with
a win. Exit up about a Fresca exit swollen down

(27:01):
the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
time how to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. From a very excited moncis because she
will never have to go up against Bukaakua again in fantasy.
With his forty six point night tonight, Well, you won't
have to play him next week, so congratulations.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
I have a chance because I'm Josh Allen. Okay, there
you go.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
You know what I'm saying, like, very slim chance, but
I do have a.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
You get seven touchdowns from Josh Allen this weekend, you're
which is yeah, yeah, four throwing with three runs.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
The quarterbacks are gonna have to possibly give me forty points.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, Josh Allen is one of them.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Win. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Okay, play the defense that's playing the Jets. Defense, that's
playing the Jets.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
Hey, hey, I.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Picked up the Saints defense to play them in Fantasy
in the semifinlogize, stop I'm saying I'm playing the Saints
defense and fan in the in my big Dynasty league
in the seventies, this week. The Saints have like not
looked bad the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I have the judge this week, so yeah, yeah, there
you go, there you go.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Yes, uh Pooka Akua twelve catches for two hundred and
twenty twenty two twenty five yards excuse me, and two touchdowns,
which is why he scored forty six points in fantasy football.
Matthew Stafford also threw for four hundred and fifty seven
yards and three touchdowns and it was not enough.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
It was a thriller.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
In Seattle, you guys have been discussing a Seahawks win
it thirty eight to thirty seven. In overtime, Seattle improves
to twelve and three. They've clinched a playoff spot, and
they're now in first place in the NFC. So not
a bad day for the Seahawks. Other NFL news, Jaguars
and wide receivers. Wide receiver Jacoby Myers reached an agreement
on a three year, sixty million dollar extension. The Packers

(28:51):
have listed running back Josh Jacobs and wide receiver Christian
Watson as questionable for Saturday's game at Chicago, and the
Bears have ruled out wide receivers Romany and Luther Burden.
When it comes to the Eagles, they've rolled out offensive
lineman Lane Johnson and defensive lineman Jalen Carter for Saturday's
game at Washington.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
In the NBA, the Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Held on won sixteen to one fourteen against the Pistons
in overtime.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Cooper Flag with the double double.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
The Nuggets defeated the Magic won twenty six to one fifteen,
where both Nikola Jokic and Paolo ben Karo Orlando had
triple doubles. The Suns won it ninety nine to ninety
eight on free throws against the Warriors. Phoenix also had
thirty points off of twenty turnovers from the Warriors.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Warriors just turnover the ball a lot lately.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
The Lukadanci had a triple double and the Lakers came
back to beat the Jazz one forty three to one
thirty five. LaMelo Ball hit seven first half three pointers
in his return from his ankle injury, and the Hornets
defeated the Hawks, won thirty three to one twenty six.
Sadik Bah had twenty nine points and the Pelicans had
a twenty five point comeback to beat the Rockets one
thirty three to one twenty eight in overtime, and Jalen

(29:55):
Brunson hit the go ahead three with four seconds left,
and the Nicks held on one fourteen t one to
thirteen against the Pacers. And right now there is one
game in the NBA. It's about to finish those the
Showblazers and the Kings. Portland's up one fifteen to one
to twelve with about twelve seconds to go in the
NHL one game going on. The Stars are up on
the Sharks four to three with about three minutes to
go in the third period. But the Wilds have won

(30:18):
six in a row after defeating the Blue Jackets five
to two. And in baseball, right handed pitcher Michael King
and the Padres agreed to agreed to a three year,
seventy five million dollar contract. Back to you guys, thanks
a bunch of monsen. Yes, hey, I look up.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
You love this.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
Eighty five Bears were known for the forty six defense,
so you probably want to look that up. Okay, funny
guys playing down to the moon.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
That's why they call it the forty six zone.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
So you think that tonight's game we have the drama
Sam Darnold again again feels like a bargain at thirty
million dollars a year.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Now.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
What he was able to do fighting through tonight was
a huge thing for him. Well you'd think that after
tonight and Pukaakua going for two hundred and twenty yards
or even have the big night that he had. Well,
he's put the whole live stream controversy behind him. Remember
he did a live stream a day ago where he said, Hey,
the officials they're the worst. They just want to be
on TV. They probably hit each other up in their

(31:13):
tech streams. The officials are the worst. Poka Nakua has
doubled down on that following the Rams loss tonight. This
is now getting bizarre and crazier than it was a
day ago. We'll have the details on it coming up
next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
No, Jason, dude, enough with this song, apologized. The last
five nights, you've played it like three times a night. Okay,
hold on, you're like a top forty radio station where Hey,
the hottest hits are in three hour rotation. Okay, Jason,
I'll take that disrespect to Sam Darnold because your team
destroys good quarterbacks. But I'm not gonna take you disrespecting
DMX on what would have been his birthday.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
We played it like seventeen times the last couple nights.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Yes, yeah, twice.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
He's got the logs. I think twice this hour he
could have it read back to you. You want them
to reading the logs back to you.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Hold on to your hats, everybody, Jason Smith Mike Harmon
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. You thought we
just had your garden variety, great Thursday night game between
the Seahawks and the Rams, and the Seahawks go for
two in overtime and convert and the Seahawks win, and
what a great night it is. And boy, we're gonna
talk about both these teams. Ah No, no, no, it's

(32:42):
like the football gods have said, you know, we're sorry
for those crap tastic games we gave you the last
couple of weeks on Monday and Thursday. So we're gonna
give you something a little extra special because it is
the holidays. Holidays if you remember, the backdrop coming into
this game was Ram superstar wide out Pooka Nakua, the
two best receivers in the NFL this year. A square
off tonight with Niakua and Jackson Smith Njigba and he

(33:03):
was great too, but I mean Pooka twelve catches, two
hundred and twenty five yards, two touchdowns, forty six Fantasy points.
He had an incredible night. The backdrop to this, of course,
was a day ago in which he won in a
live stream and said a whole bunch of things that
the Rams probably said, dude, no more live streams. This
gained most of the headlines, which was him talking about
the officials and how the officials well, let's just say

(33:27):
he's not fans of anything the officials do during a game.
This is audio from the live stream.

Speaker 5 (33:32):

Speaker 7 (33:33):
You you you you're cool.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
You come out all right. Then he went back on
the live stream after that when he told hey, we're live.
You got to say other things, and this is what
he said about the officials.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
There's some of the rules aren't then, like these guys
want to be these guys car lawyers and like rel
they want to be on TV too, brother, Like off
the game.

Speaker 7 (33:55):
You don't think he's texting his friends in the group chat, Like, yo,
you guys just saw many Sunda night football that was
that wasn't p I like what I called it was?

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Seriously they do that.

Speaker 7 (34:04):
I mean, these guys are noble human.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
Beings too, Okay, so they just want to be on TV.
They're the worst.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
All of a sudden, pookin Akua finding his voice. Hey,
you were just kind of an anonymous great superstar. And now, oh,
now you want to say the officials are the worst.
Take about the number of times we could play the
who is this talking game? All of a sudden out
of yeah, I have no idea identify that voice. Because
we're in the NFL. What do we have maybe fifteen
twenty guys that you could really say? Okay, I say,

(34:32):
I've heard him enough and they've been in front of
a microphone. Pok is not one of those guys. Not
one of those he is. Now, now you know, if
you hear a player crying, it's probably a Jet. Well no, now,
the Jets and the whole thing this week about not
talking to the media because they were crying. Oh oh
oh okay, uh yeah, yeah, crying that they're actually in
New York. They are a better dancer. I don't want

(34:52):
to be there, Aaron Glenn leads them. It feels like
forever ago that Aaron Glenn danced at the end of
that game and dancer that they wound up. So okay,
you'd think that would be over. Pooka said what he said,
There's gonna be a big fine coming his way and
that was going to be the end of it. Tonight
he goes in, has an incredible game, twelve catches, two

(35:13):
or twenty five yards, two touchdowns. Lesson not learned because
right after the game was over. Who can Akua put
this up on Twitter or up on X It has
been deleted, but he put this up on X. A
lot of outlets have this. Now Pookah tweets out, can
you say I was wrong? Appreciate you Stripes for your contribution. Lol. Now,

(35:38):
the Rams did have a fair number of penalties called
against them tonight that holding penalties, they had other penalties,
had a big penalty that wiped out a touchdown on
their first drive. That was a ridiculous call for alignment
being downfield when the play was at the one yard line.
I that was kind of ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
Well, add the two point conversion at which we'll be
talked about a lot in terms of advancing fumbles and
all of the or you know, in this case, it's
a loose ball, right, it would be a fumble, like
it's a botched handoff. Well, now we have to go
into the rule book and decide that, because the NFL
will have to have a statement on that. But yeah,
to just extend the officiating content from this evening's game, the.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Game wasn't over for I don't think five minutes and
Pooka tweets how fast guys get to their phones? Because
this is not even five minutes out of eleven to
fifty five. I think the game ended at fifty No
fifty four. I think so the game ended enough. I'm
being right here, and the time is correct. Are we
have pretty good time?

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Right?

Speaker 1 (36:35):
We have pretty good time? The game ended at eight
fifty three, so eleven fifty three ish, because remember the
last minute we had we talked about the touchdown, right
the last minute. This is not two minutes after the
game ended. Pooka tweets out, can you say I was wrong?
Appreciate you Stripes for your contribution. Lol. Now two minutes

(36:58):
after the game was over, he's at his phone tweeting
that out. Lesson not learned. Do you think his phone
was holstered like a tarall owen sharpie nod Joe Horn's
cell phone. He probably had a guy holding it as
soon as that game's over. You give me my phone? Yeah, yes,
mister Nikoua, no problem, Yes, I got it. Yeah, no problem,
no problem, no problem. I mean, but now that guy's complicit.

(37:20):
He's gonna get in trouble with the coaching staff too.
I get unless it with Sean mcnabey. Here's your phone.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
What are you gonna do? Tweet something out? Look, you
know how bad it was yesterday. You understand that that.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
That's what gets me about this is that you know
this was bad, and you had to apologize for other
statements that you made on the live stream as well,
and you know this is not going over well, you
know you're gonna get fined, and still you went out
and tweeted this out a minute ninety seconds after the
game was over. Ninety seconds. I'm at my phone. I

(37:54):
gotta tweet this out, man.

Speaker 5 (37:55):
This is why herm Edwards would be an absolute genius
if you would actually come out with his phone with
the button.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
That said don't press end.

Speaker 5 (38:03):
Is this where that you'd be a genius where you
go to a comedy club or a concert and they
put it in one of those bags and you got
to wait some requisite period after your game or event
before they'll give you your phone back. So just like
you don't go in front of a microphone immediately from
the field, right, you know, as you're a coach or
a player, there's the cooling off period before you meet

(38:25):
the media. You gotta do the same thing. Now, Oh,
someone's in charge of locking up your phones. It's just
like give your phones. Yeah, well, it's like in school.
I don't know if it's for your girls in high school,
but the way in high school it is for my daughter.
In classes is that there's pockets when you walk into
the classroom and you put your phone in the pocket
for the beginning of class, and you get it and
you grab it at the end. Now you got to

(38:46):
make sure to remember to get it, and sometimes phone
can look behind. But maybe that's what the rams need
to do.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
When you go out on the field, put your phone
in the pockets here and then you get them back
at the end of the game, after it's over.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
It's the official phone Caddy Los Angeles. I mean, really,
this is You'd think he would have learned his lesson,
and no, I can't wait to get to my phone.
I can't wait to get to my phone and tweet
out what I think about the officials.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
This is how he's deleted it. It deleted right away. Now,
who knows if someone said something to him where he
decided that was about. But it doesn't matter. You tweet
something out and right or wrong and it stays there forever.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
Remember we had the issue where he was live streaming
in the locker room and they got mad at him. Right, So,
I mean, this is not new like it's It's been
a festering thing the last couple of weeks. I'm wondering
how much of this is testing the old theory and
we've heard Cowboys players have been documentaries about it, right
the Jimmy Johnson, well, that guy might get cut. But
with Troy, I just tap him back awake if he

(39:43):
was asleep in a meeting to say, hey, do we
need to go through this again or do you get it?

Speaker 3 (39:48):
That Pooka's like I'm a star.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
Now let's test everybody's patience and how far I can
go before they snap back on me.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
He's like the guy in the movie that is in
the beginning is the fresh face. Uh, you know, good guy,
always a good guy and does the right thing, and
he's you know, he's he's taught by the you know
that there's the there's the good. It's almost like training day,
right Denzel and Ethan Hawk and Ethan Hawk at the
beginning is like, hey this Fredman had just want to learn.
By the end of the movie, hey, I'm as conniving

(40:16):
as you like you've seen the I'm just thinking, guy
Pierson l a confidential as you said from Pooka, like, hey,
everybody loves me to know. Oh yeah, now now I'm
the villain. Now I've learned how to do that pretty fast.
If you think this isn't enough, wait till you hear
what Sean McVeigh had to say when he was told
about Pooka tweeting right after the game It's must listen radio.
