You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Grating. Second half of the show begins here Fox Sports
Radio Jason Smith Show with Me Mike Harmon. No Jason
Today in his place radio legend. You heard his origin story, Yes,
kind of like a Marvel supervillain earlier in the show.
Check it out on the podcast when Shay gets that
up a little later on at Stinking Genius One. It's

(00:49):
our guy, Arnie Spanier. Always a blessing to get to
do a little verbal sparring.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
You know what it's like to live in Vegas being
young and single and ready to mingle with a mustache
and a ponytail. Do you have any idea?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
You know, is that part of your autobiography that I'm
anxiously awaiting.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Well, it's not really a ponytail. It was just a
little you know, one of those little little things that
people had back then. It wasn't the full long ponytail,
but you did put it in a rubber band.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
It's like a little nubbing kind of yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Little nub thing back there.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, like a knob.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Had that going for me. But that worked out, he gets, Oh, yeah, fantastic.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I was the Were you hitting jaw shots and talking
up ladies or what?

Speaker 5 (01:33):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:33):
It was it was a lot of fun, man, just
you know, I was working. It was a new network,
got to meet some you know, fellow guys getting in
the business, and we all had a blast. It was.
It was a really good time, man, We had it.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
It was.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
It was a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Look at you, Yeah, waxing poetic about a lot of
that stuff. The holidays bring that to you. For some
it's it's a tough time and and we hope to
be there for you, make you laugh, make you think,
can get mad at me instead of you know, the
reality of your world. That's the hope. A little bit
of escapism here as we to put it through the prism.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Of Sport Beverly Hills.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Like you, my friend, I want you to know that,
come on, everybody's mister Beverly Hills like you, Harmony.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Well, I'm working towards it, and I'm not there yet.
Two girls that are going to go to pretty good universities,
which it's cost me a lot of money, which means
we're gonna we're gonna work as often as they'll let me.
Here behind the microphones at Fox Sports Radio at Swollen Dome,
where you find me, give us a shout here on
the program. Now. I want to pay this off because
we've been talking about it for a while. The rift

(02:38):
earlier this week where Draymond Green and Steve Kerr got
into it at the bench, said some things, some unpleasant trees,
and then Draymond Green left. Yeah, he just said, I'm
taking my ball and I'm going home. It's best I
don't stay here, is what he was quoted as saying. Okay.
Finally came back to the bench and Steve Kerr was asked,
was their consideration of putting him back in game? They're

(03:00):
getting beat on? He goes, no, No, there wasn't. So
how does that play? A couple of days later, you're
gonna play on Christmas Day? You got a big match
up here. Steph Curry Clay Thompson with the hug it
out moment. Steph wearing some Clay Thompson shoes when asked
about it, kind of chuckle and it's like, yeah, purely coincidental,
making fun of the reporter a little bit and having

(03:22):
fun at their expense. But Steve Kerr, you know, was
had to address the Draymond Green incident and one more time,
and this is how he approached it.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
Monday night.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
Monday night was not my finest hour and and that
was the time I needed to be calm in the huddle,
and so I regret and you know my actions in
that exchange, and you know, I apologize to Dre.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
He apologized to me.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
We both apologize to the team.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
See there you go, cut and print and forever. That's
now in your card. Like we always saw Bob costas
it was, this was my Mickey Mantle card because I
love baseball so much and this is the history and
this was my guy. Same thing here. You print that out, laminade,
get that Etsy store up Shay, and you do it
in a bunch of different fonts and colors. Laminate the

(04:18):
hell out of it, and we start selling that as
an addendum to our Christmas card collection for twenty twenty six.
See we're making money here at Fox Sports Radio. Uh,
just the idea of here. Yes, I have some responsibility here.
We got words, got in the way. We've been together
a long time, fought a little bit. But it's done.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Yeah, you know it's done. But first of all, it's
nice to Steve to admit that he had some fault
in this and apologized. But really, this is Andreymond Green.
How many times have we seen this before? And to
be honest with you, if I'm a Golden State fan,
I know we're on their station up there in San Francisco.
It's it's time for him to go. Let's be honest.
Golden State's not in a position to win an NBA

(05:03):
championship right now. Things have got to be moved around.
You just don't need the attitude of Draymond Green on
that team. Steph Curry's getting up there in years. I'm
not ever getting rid of Steph Curry. He's gonna stay
on the Warriors as long as he's playing in the NBA.
And who knows how long Steve Kerr is going to
want to coach. I would think it's only another two

(05:24):
to three years. At most, So it's time to move
Draymont Green. The guy's become a headache. I mean, let's
be honest, Why do you need to have that type
of attitude like that, especially in that situation. He gets
too heated too many times, whether it's not his own team,
his own teammates, his own coach, the other team's teams.

(05:50):
It's just crazy. I got to move on and go
in a different direction there, Mike.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
There one game above five hundred and ten and four
at home, they had ten point win over Dallas. Today,
Anthony Davis left with an injury, drawing injury. So we'll
keep an eye on that.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Yeah, shocker.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Well, look, guys get hurt.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah, he's hurt all the time. Stop it.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Well, I'm not going to be pejorative and dismissive about it.
It's but it is a reality that you when you
bring in a guy like Anthony Davis. It's kind of
like we were talking about the quarterback position in the NFL.
You got to have another plan, you got to have
another path and know where you're going. And you know,
I've seen the positing of well, they need to make
sure it's Cooper Flags. He he's like they've already done that. Yeah,

(06:33):
that already that already happened. That transition is well underway
and you've seen some great results from it. But for
Anthony Davis, now the question of when he comes back.
They're twelve and twenty on the AAR. But for Golden State,
the question with Draymond Green has long been when do
we hit the equilibrium between what you can give in
terms of performance against the trouble and angst and exactly

(06:57):
whether you're slowing in competing, stopping, reversing altogether any form
of process of what and progress of what your team
is doing. And we're probably at that time and here
you're able to dismiss it to a degree of like,
all right, two people, they're going to great on each other.
And if things are going bad, you know, it's what's

(07:18):
the straw that that breaks the proverbial Campbell's back. Why
I played the Steve Kerr audio of the idea of
hey been together a long time. I got to own
my piece of it, and he does right in terms
of rotations and how a couple.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Of years ago. I don't see why Kerr doesn't leave
in a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Also, well, I mean you can just text him right now,
can't you?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Is that one of your guys a long long time?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Well, this is probably the time, Hey, Steve, I'm hearing
from anonymous sources. But it's just that idea of when
you've got a player long tenured, how does it end?
Generally not well? And you have time, right, most of
the time in any career, like a lot of folks
don't leave because they want to. Certainly in our profession,

(08:03):
that doesn't get to happen very often, right, you get
to say goodbye, and last week I think we had
it happened for three times, and that by my count,
those are the first three I remember in a long time,
one of which was Doug gottlieb our colleague here for years,
who's going on to coach full time. But you know,
and in a lot of other walks of life, sometimes

(08:24):
the contract's not renewed. Sometimes you know, they shift plans, younger, cheaper, outsourced.
I mean, there's a million terms for it. But you
don't necessarily get to say, Okay, I'm working here till
I'm fifty five. I'm gonna take my gold watch and leave.
Not that retirement is necessarily in the cards for most
people at fifty five. But you get My point is

(08:46):
that you don't choose it, and certainly in professional sports,
that's a rare the rarest of all things. You know,
I've had a good run, I'm gonna go now two.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Same thing with coaching too, that rarely do you get
to stay with the one team for so long and
then you know, call it quits. Those days are over.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Yeah, I mean you're hired to be fired in all
of these jobs, for sure, but certainly when it comes
to coaching outside of a few obvious outliers. When we
talk about back to the NFL for the moment, of
Harbaugh and Tomlin are the two that get talked about most.
Some folks wondering if Andy Reid steps away, if Patrick
Mahomes can't play this year, so that's in the offing

(09:24):
perhaps a little bit as well. But in the NBA,
it's a game of musical chairs. Like what Steve Kurz
done at Golden State, it was him and Pop and
Spolster quietly down in Miami. That's it. That's your big three.
Everything else has been a revolving door for the most part,
right with a couple of exceptions where guys got six,

(09:45):
maybe seven year, ten years. But even that shuffle up
and deal and as a player, the dream of playing
a long, meaningful career with one organization, that's just the
rarity anymore. I mean we think nostalgically, you know of
some of these guys that got to do it. Hel
Jordan didn't do it. No, Pippin didn't do it. I
mean David Robinson did. Uh, Tim Duncan did. A couple

(10:10):
of guys from San Antonio that shy and I mean
that guy could make one of those jersey quilts and
have enough teams left for a second, quite a lot.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Not quite like that though, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Well, I mean that that's become a damn train, like
you're going to a wedding at this point with the
number of names that are on there. But but you
know what I mean, it's just for for Draymond Green.
At some point it's like, all right, you're still okay,
and we could probably move you to.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
A high demand for him though you said probably move
high demand or not because of his contract. I mean,
if he wasn't making a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Well, but that's the problem, right, It's the eating of
a contract. How much do you have to eat on it,
uh and ancillary parts that have to come back, right,
because I'm a contender. This is the argument I've made
with Lebron and some of these where it's like, ah,
they'll trade them. It's like, what contender is losing three
or four pieces of a rotation to bring in a
Lebron James or a Draymond Green? Right?

Speaker 4 (11:11):
No, I mean they talk about the Knicks trying to
get Yanni's, but I'm like, we'd have to give up
too much to get Yanni's. I don't want to go
ahead and break our team apart, gohead do something like that.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
I like that you went fast, that was good. Yeah,
but also you know you're now the E Cup champions.
You can't break.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yeah, We're exactly We're the check.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
You got Colick with rundown blocks, you got Mickey Mouse
desperation heaves at the end of the game. That's right.
The dunk the Halls was today for those that missed it,
alternate programming for that Knicks comeback victory, which was fantastic.
They glitched out for a while, and this year they
actually had a game plan of how to handle it
when the technical things stopped working for a bit, so

(11:52):
that was the think they got.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Done by fifteen points in the h before they made
that come back. They certainly were down fifteen in the first.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Well yeah, I mean if they were down fifteen late
and that that's when I turned on the dunk the
halls because it was bad. Yeah, they were playing terribly.
It was like and then all of a sudden, cartoons Stitch.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
I was lighting to watch that. How many people were
watching that?

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Look? I talked to some folks with some small kids,
and they just loved it, like, okay, so they watched
it on one the normal broadcast, but they had the
kids were able to sit and watch.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
On any by play. Yeah, who was doing it?

Speaker 3 (12:26):
It was I forget it was calling the It was
separate calls because they'd be like, Mickey's got the ball,
Mickey drives. It was pretty funny. What was it kids
or it was adults? Okay, it was an alternate crew
with it.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
It was fun.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
You should put your between that and your lumber jacking. Yeah,
for your TV movie of the week. I mean, you're
you're just winning right there.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Use my voice for for animation like that.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I'm surprised you don't do voiceover.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
You know who told me, I have hard voice.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
You are a walking cartoon.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
You know.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
I had an actor on, a big time actor. I'll
tell you his name in a second, and I said,
he said, dude, you have the most amazing voice. I go,
let's do Finding Nemo too, or something like that. It
was Billy Bob Thornton that I had on the show.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Really was he promoting his work with the Box Masters?

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Was I was promoted in that movie he was in
in the spaceship that was going through the Moon or
something like that. I don't know. I really don't remember
what movie it was he was promoting. He wasn't that
big at the time that I had him on. I
don't think that's how long ago. That's how old I am.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
See now I want to know what movie was?

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Yeah, it was it was some movie that I had
to do with the spaceship or something like that.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
I'm not well, he was in something called The Astronaut
farm Room Assumer.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Well, there you go. That that's probably it.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
No, it was something bigger than that. He was at Armageddon.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Oh was he in that too?

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Ninety eight?

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Jeez, that's a long time ago.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Company, that's a long time. Oh he's an interesting guy.
He's made the rounds to last, and it's always a reminder,
you know, just the simple little acts of kindness. He's
a big deal. That show land man is really good.
If you haven't seen that, you was out, Yeah, but
you can check that out. Good cast. But he he's
very much one of those guys where you ask for

(14:17):
the autograph for the photo he stops.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Oh yeah, here's a good guy.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Here's but just the idea. And his point was, I
don't have any of what I got if there's up
for these people, which is a good attitude dad. The
other is, you know, just a reminder. If you sign
a lot of autographs, that means the secondary market has
a lot of autographs, yes, which means people are more
likely to move on and stalk somebody else.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Yeah they won't. You hound you to go ahead and
make some money on.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
It, right if yours are everywhere and it suddenly saturates
the market, that you sign it with a singular letter,
as I've seen some guys in a new Tops Marvel release,
just amazing. You got folks that are painstakingly Anthony Hopkins
eighty eight years old doing every letter of his name.
He got other guys that are signing a b just

(15:06):
scribble or something, be in a line like no, no
give up autographs here.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
But but he was a good guy. He was He
was a lot of fun on the phone. And yeah,
he couldn't have been niceer. He see there you go
a lot of you know, a lot of actors. I mean,
you know this Mike being in LA. They're big time
sports fans. I mean who goes to the Waker games
and and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
It's absolutely it's always that fun crossover. One of those
things again to my trading card world of uh they
do a thing of who throws out first pitches and
they do a trading card set Allen and Ginter, which
is a cross section of baseball and a bunch of
pop culture and whatever. Brian Cranston for his card, he's
got a Dodger hat on, So you know, all of

(15:48):
those things to show their fandom and that bit of crossover,
which is good because sometimes it bleeds back into here
in our efforts here at Fox Sports Radio. So if
you're out there listening and you're a big star, you
can prove it, you can call in. Otherwise that's swollen
dome at Stinking Genius One where you find us in
the Twitter verse as we roll on one of the

(16:09):
stories that I know this raised the antenna for both
you and I. Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers still rolling along.
Looks like we're gonna get the Steelers to the playoffs again.
But Aaron Rodgers raised his hand based on this DK
Metcalf story of this past week, what's that intersection? We'll
tell you coming up next here at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Paully Foods Go here with Tony Foods Go Yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning
Polly and Tony Foods Go show.

Speaker 8 (16:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:46):
But instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Fackrick described us when he came on
our show.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated, Well, you don't interrupting our promo.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took those clips
totally out of context.

Speaker 7 (17:02):
Oh yeah, Well, after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
Let me put this into context.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Shut up.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully and Tony Fusco
Show on Ihart Radio. Apple podcasts, ohereva you get your
podcasts yea.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
If you haven't watched this yet, make sure you do.
Charlie Brown Christmas, I may or may not look like
him in for a while. My daughter's had given me
a shirt from nazire locally that was the Charlie Brown shirt.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Do you know what was the thing making it surrounds
on the internet today?

Speaker 3 (17:34):
What's that, buddy? I mean?

Speaker 4 (17:36):
On Twitter today was people doing the Charlie Brown or
the Peanuts stands? You know what I'm talking about? Oh?

Speaker 5 (17:44):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
It's funny you mentioned that because they asked the Bears.
They did one of their videos for social media, and
as they were leaving the practice field, they were all
naming different songs. Right, So this Christmas Chris Brown this
and just going down the line and Dj Moore starts
doing the dance while saying it's the Charlie Brown thing.

(18:05):
And he's completely just doing the head and side to
side with his feet like he's funny as hell. Like
he's just standing there.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
On Twitter, there's like a group of different friends though,
But you have a group of like seven or eight
imitating the Peanuts characters on the way they danced, and
one person sitting down and playing the piano like like
Linus so or Schroeder. I think the Schroder excuse me, Schroeders.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
So you know it was pointed out, and you know
for folks that missed it, you know what he does
is big speech during the paget I heard how he
how he drops the blanket when he says fear not
the second time in time.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
He doesn't have the blanket in his hand.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
By the way, the most underrepresented character in merch of
the Peanuts gang underrepresented. They've gone out of their way
to sell merch for pretty much everybody else on a
great level. Somehow Linus gets left behind. He's never solo.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
That's terrible.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
It's an injustice.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
I'm just incensed by it. All. You know, He's also
insnced by a lot of things. Is Aaron Rodgers been
fairly quiet over the course of the year. He's taking
his lumps. I mean, it's Alex's favorite team. He's sitting
next to a Browns fan in Shay So the fact
that they haven't started slat fighting. Yeah, we need fired
for that.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Coming from Browns fan, stop it, you're evers fan. We
have a rule on my show. If you root for
a team that's a loser, you're gone, You're done, You're finished, Shaye.
Would you like to retort, Well, yes, I'm a Dolphin fan,
but we that that gets canceled up because I'm also
an Arizona Wildcat fan.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
That's number one. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
No, forks up, Arnie, I always forget. You're a stinky
tea liver off. Wow.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Wow see what that did? Now you Now you've unleashed him.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Yeah, well he went to Arizona State, the better school.
He should have studied harder. He wouldn't have to go.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
He's got a curtain of distraction. Do you ever curtain
of distraction?

Speaker 4 (20:01):
No, but that is pretty funny. I will give you
that abstraction. Even even Phelps did the curtain of distraction.

Speaker 9 (20:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Yeah, yeah, it was good. That's that's a funny thing.
That's a funny. It was a good time.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Yeah. So there you go.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
We we win the point. Let's look at the don't
look at anything. Stop it, Aaron.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
He doesn't want any facts what are you talking about,
Aaron Rodgers. So earlier in the week we had the
the big kerfuffle over DK Metcalf suspended two games. They
can avoid the forty plus million dollars of his contract.
That's the other dirty part of it on the next level.
And when he went into the front row and swipe

(20:46):
towards a fan, you decide punch slap them, but also
a guy who was filmed saying I got him uh
and now as his lawyer and everything else. But it's
the the idea for met Gaff. He appealed to this point,
the fact that they haven't found one hundred people with
other phone videos leading up to this of what was said,

(21:08):
and because DK Metcalf said, hey, he said some unconscionable
things about mom and racial epithets, right, So all of that.
But Aaron Rodgers, when asked about the week that was
is they'll get ready to play without Metcalf, who'd been
playing better football, more consistent football the last couple of weeks,
more part of the offense than he had been in
a while. Rogers had this to say about fans.

Speaker 9 (21:32):
There's always a lot of different things that are said,
some things that are benign and some things that aren't.
And you know, I think there's a mindset that you
pay pay for a ticket and say whatever the hell
you want. I think there should be some code of conduct.
Obviously that was intentional, and I think there was some

(21:53):
celebration afterwards on his part. Obviously, don't condone what DK did.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I understand.

Speaker 9 (22:01):
You know, there's been a lot of crazy comments in
my way over the years, and uh, you know, the
truth is that that would never happen face to face.
I would you know, even some of the most hated
people that hate me the most in the cities that
I've played against over the year, especially in EFC North,
it's always pretty cordial when you see some of those

(22:21):
people out and about. But in that setting, you know,
there's a lot of things that are said. There's two
sides every story, and I support DK. I'll continue support DK.
And wow and uh, yeah, at disappointed that happened.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Yeah, so you also had Mike Tomlin go down that
path going, hey, you know what, do I agree with it? No?
But I support my guy right trying to we's a
problem with that.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
See, this is Mike, there's a problem with this. First
of all, this is why there's a press conference tomorrow
to clear the air out of this. But if we're
gonna let's just say, we're gonna take Aaron Rodgers' word
for everything, and you're going to back DK Metcalf and
that this guy was throwing epitats and did something about
his mom. Well, if that's true, you were the worst teammate.

(23:05):
Not only you, but everybody else on your team. They're
the worst teammates I've ever seen in my life. Because
you're gonna let some guys scream from the first row
or it's got to be loud enough for at least
DK Metcalf to hear him, and you all must have
heard him. Then if he was saying stuff like this
and not one of you did anything to stop the situation.

(23:28):
You didn't point in the stands, you didn't get security,
You didn't go to DK Metcalf and say it's gonna
be okay, don't listen to the guy. You didn't turn
around and tell him to shut the black up. You
did nothing. So if you're telling me that this was
a true story, you are the worst teammates in the
history of any sport I've ever seen in my life.

(23:49):
Now you're making me take that side there, Mike, because
you're telling me that this guy was throwing out racial
epitats and saying stuff about his mom and you're not
doing anything. So now you're making me take a side.
You're making me choose. I don't believe that was said.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Well, but because, but that's the question, right, But.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
He said if it was said, Mike, his teammates would
have been having his back. They would have pointed to
the stands, they would have given the guy the finger,
they would have gotten security, they would have done something.
They wouldn't have turned their backs on a teammate like
DK Metcalf and say, okay, well just let the guy
keep saying your stuff about your mom.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
But that that happened pretty fast. That went from zero
to sixty pretty fast. At least nobody would.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
Portrayed only Dk Metcalf.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Nobody's the only guy that needed to hear and react
to it. Everybody else they here, it becomes noise, Right,
you're screaming a million things at me.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
I don't We don't have any proof this was said.
There was audio. We don't have any audio this was.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Said, right, That's that was my original point to it.
It's a he said, he said at this point, and
at this point they're backing their teammate.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Well, we'll see what the guy says in the press
conf ference tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
And I what do you think he's gonna say? I
want a bunch of money. This guy, this multi millionaire,
threatened me. I feared from my personate say something him.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
He may have some proof that we don't know he
may say. And because I knew he was gonna accuse
me of this, that's why I made this recording. Here
you go.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
But there, I mean, there is precedent right between these two.
They have gone at it before. No, he was it
was a known thing that this guy thought in an
agitator before with the metcalf. That's okay to be well,
but it's a question of where's that line right and
that and this is where we don't have, you know,
one hundred percent knowledge of what was truly said here.

(25:39):
If if legitimately DKA is claiming that he shouted a
bunch of racial things, shouted about his mom and whatever,
and that is categorically, excuse me, categorically proven wrong, then
that's the worst of all things. Because we've got enough
of that in reality that we don't need a trumped

(25:59):
up charge to that. Well, right, we don't need We
don't want him to add invectives. We got plenty of those.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
So Mike, you're if that's true, you're telling me a
guy can scream racial up at that's scream. Still nobody
are what they're saying about a player's mom. And security
does nothing. Security can't hear nothing. There was a security
on the situation.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
That's the point. Right. If he yells at once, if
he's screaming it repeatedly, I gotta imagine that security actually
does go and do something. And that's and that's where
we've got a lot of gray in what this story is.
I don't what he's saying. He just said his government name.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
Right, right. I believe that's what he said. I believe
that's what he said. And remember, I don't think DK
metcalf Fruy threw a punch. He just kind of, you know,
grabbed him by the shirt and kind of gave him
a little flick.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Well, it's enough for the NFL to have suspended him
two years, two games, and to potentially cost him forty
to fifty million dollars.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Right, And that's the problem is he's saying all this
to try to save him the forty to fifty million.
I don't think that's should cost him. I think the
two games is fine. The two games.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Avoid's part of his contract, right, and it should right
if that's the letter of the law of the contract
and you've determined that he violated the terms of the contract. Sorry,
the forty million's gone.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
Yeah, but do you violate the terms of the contract
if somebody said something to you so heinous because some
people you know, by the law, Well, but you could
be attacked and you could defend yourself. If somebody says
stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Well, then that's where this goes into a whole different
level of courts as opposed to the sometimes kangaroo court
that is the NFL judge jury's kind of system.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Well, that's why I'm looking forward to the press conference tomorrow. Yeah,
he's going to say he didn't say it, But I
want to know what else he's going to say to
the fact that, Well, but that's.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
It, right, we'll get more clarity of it tomorrow. Yeah,
but in the interim, it's a bunch of he said,
he said, we've seen fan behavior. Rogers went on to
kind of talk about the disintegration of society, and.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Somebody say, Aaron, did you hear it? Why didn't you
turn around? Why did you say something? Anybody else on
your team here it? Did your lineman hear it? Did
anybody hear it? Or anybody canna ask those questions? Or
are we so afraid to ask questions like that?

Speaker 3 (28:15):
I think there's something to that right of where where
you take a conversation. I don't know how early in
Rogers availability this was asked, but I think you pushed
too hard. What do we see? Operation shut down? Folks
don't need to get their quotes for their their.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Yes and talking. That's true, You're right about that.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
I'm not saying that's right. I'm just saying that's reality.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
Well, I want to know more and I can't wait
to hear what this guy's got to say and if
he's got any proof, I want to see what attorney's
gonna hire that will certainly say a lot, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Old rule of thumb. You know, there's three sides to
every story, yep, and the truth right. So what we'll
find out right in terms of that a little bit
more tomorrow we get into the legal Leese of it all.
The Steelers where we're looking at them right now to
nine and six season, they play the aforementioned Cleveland Browns. Again.

(29:11):
Why these guys aren't slap fighting, I don't know. But
for their schedule, they've had a good run You've gotten
more out of the run game. We enjoyed the video
of Aaron Rodgers telling Kenneth Gainwell what route to run
and then proceeding to pop a big play thereafter.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
You know, who was it that Miles Garrett accused of
calling him Rachel surs and took the helmet off.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Come in, the NFL never suspended Mason Rudolph for doing
something like that again, saying racial epithets and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
It comes back to.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Speculation.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Well, nobody else on the field heard that. It was
just Miles Garrett that heard that. Out of the other
twenty other twenty players that we're in on that play,
nobody else heard it, right, So that's why you have
to wait to see how this is good to playoff.
But you really it's hard to prove it. Like you said, Mike,
it's hard to prove unless you have audio, uh you know,

(30:12):
audio proof on that.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Yeah, I mean This is not Warner Wolf, this is
not the George Michaels sports machine of let's go to
the audio tape and maybe maybe you can, maybe you can.
I don't know, uh, State of Michigan. Is it a
two way, two way thing? What? What's the knowledge of
being recorded and then using it in a court of law?

(30:34):
Do you just assume the fact that you're in a
stadium that you have no right of uh privacy.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
You're you're in a public set, you have no right
of privacy.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
And I gotta imagine there's got to be other people
in that section that had their phones up as soon
as he took step one towards that section, right.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
Right, And if he did say it, Edie, you know
when DK Midcalf grabbed him, did DK Midcalf say, what
did you say about my mom? What did you call me?
Or did he say don't call me by that name?
That will tell a lot.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Also, well, the two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. He might
have said one and the other already.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
You're right, you're right, I mean, like right now, it's
a lot of speculation, that's a lot of litigage, and
a lot of lawyers and a lot.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Of dollars, a lot of lawyers.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
That's just like all the nollboards up and down the
four h five. You got lawyer, lawyer, lawyer, chargers, lawyer, lawyer, lawyer,
and another picture of Jim Harbaugh. Now let's go to
the news desk get an update from Breonna muro. We're
in their final game of the Night of the Long
Christmas Day. How you doing, Brehanna?

Speaker 8 (31:36):
Good, guys, good, Okay. So the Nuggets are on top
of the Timberwolves ninety six to eighty six.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Nikola Jokic.

Speaker 8 (31:44):
Nicola Jokic thirty two points, thirteen rebounds, and thirteen assists
for his fifteenth triple double of.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
The season fifteen already.

Speaker 8 (31:51):
Yeah, so he actually becomes the third player in NBA
history to record multiple triple doubles on Christmas, only, joining
Oscar Robertson. And guess if you guys guess the other person,
they'll be like, actually impressed Lebron Jobbels.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
No, I'm just thinking the guys that have played a
lot on Christmas, because Lebron certainly has complained about it enough.
So Arenie, you got it? You want to venture one more?

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Guess other than Oscar?

Speaker 8 (32:17):
Other than Oscar is somebody who's actually tied Oscar for
like another record for something else. Let's just throw that
out there.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
Uh, Moses Malone, I'll say, oh my god, Russell Westbrook,
that was Oh I should I should guess that one.

Speaker 8 (32:30):
Yeah, I think you guys like probably like the easiest
hint I could.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
So that was the average of triple double.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
There you that out? Yeah, that out all right, guys.

Speaker 8 (32:39):
Elsewhere in the NBA, the Rockets curbs on the Lakers
one nineteen to ninety six. I'm n Thompson and Katie
combined for fifty one points in the win. The Warriors
defeated the Mavericks one twenty six to one sixteen. The
Spurs won their eighth straight game and got past the
Thunder one seventeen to one oh two, and Jalen Brentson
scored thirty four points in the knicks comeback win against
the Cavaliers one twenty six to one twenty four. In

(33:02):
the NFL, the Broncos defeated the Chiefs twenty to thirteen.
Denver is still in play for the one seed in
the AFC, and if the Chargers lose on Saturday, Denver
can clinch the AFC West, the Vikings knocked off the
Lions twenty three to ten, and the Cowboys defeated the
Commanders thirty to twenty.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Back to you guys, thanks so much, Brianna. As we
continue here at Fox Sports Radio, Jason Smith Show would
be Mike Harmon already, Span you're in for Jason. Tonight,
we'll stay with the National Basketball Association and another guard
making the rounds. He used to play for well, one
of the many teams that Russell Westbrook has played for
it during his career. As he's raising some concerns about

(33:41):
his team should he be We'll try to sort through it.
As we continue. It's Arnie in for Jason on Mike,
and this is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Oco.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Ricky, Welcome back, and Fox Sport It's Radio Jason Switzow
with Beat Mike Harmon. Note Jason two tonight and in
instead our guy, the Stinking Genius Arnie Spaniard coming up
in ten minutes, will revisit the theme of the day
tradition sports lots of them going to the wayside. Is
that good bad? There's just the circle of life as

(34:18):
it were. We'll talk about that as we get into
the next hour, but first we look to the world
of the NBA Arnie and once again the San Antonio Spurs. Yes,
led by Diaron Fox Victor wembin Yama. They've got a
good balanced attack going, a lot of young talent that
have come in in the reset of this franchise. Another

(34:41):
big win today one seventeen one oh two for the
third time in two weeks, including the semi finals of
the E Cup Tournament one by your New York Knicks. Yes,
the Spurs took down the Thunder. Now they're up to
five losses on the season, three of them at the
hands of the Spur and for us in sports talk radio,

(35:02):
becomes delicious theater. Let's talk about this a moment. Well
Sga the reigning MVP. Everybody's darling. It was out signing auditts.
That was one of my favorite things today was everybody
going into the arenas into the stadium, either handing pre
autographed stuff out to kids that they saw in the
stands or stopping as they got off the bus. Nice
little little thing. Now match that up to their actual

(35:24):
signature when they're trying to sign one hundred and fifty
of them in three minutes as opposed to sitting down
at a table verifying. Those will be interesting. But SGA
had some comments when asked about the Spurs and the
challenge they represent.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
You don't lose to a team three times in a
row and a short span without them being better than you.
So we have to get better. You have to look
in the mirror, and that's everybody from top to bottom
if we want to reach old.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
To men goal one seventeen one two the final that
he's right about that they shot from the field.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
He's he's he's one hundred percent right with that. I mean,
when you lose three times, the other team is better
and you've got to go ahead and get better and
work on that. San Antonio is a good story, but
let's be honest, and you talked about tradition. Is there
a lot of people out there that are saying, oh
my goodness, O CA see san Antonio, that's the next
Lakers New York Knicks or Boston New York Knicks or

(36:28):
Boston Lakers or or anything like that. No, we you know,
we we will watch the game. We'll enjoy it, we'll
talk about it, but we I don't see this as
like the next big rivalry or anything to that effect.
You know what I'm saying. I I just don't see
that happening. And that's what's hurting the NBA right now.
Not a lot of good rivalries among the top teams.

(36:51):
Even Okac, who won the championship, you know who's you know,
you know, bringing them up there, the number one team,
But yet we just kind of watched them as a
passing phase. It's like, oh, they're a great team, we're
enjoying it, but we don't watch them as like the
old Chicago Bulls or the old Lakers or the old
Celtics or anything like that.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Well, some of it goes back to our original discussion.
When you're battling for for looks and for attention span.
It's still December, right, so we're not we're not getting
to that critical mass.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
So almost halfway through here, you know, I mean, come on,
ten games away from being halfway through the season, al right.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
You know, if you're not going to catch on by then,
I mean, how many more games are you gonna You're
gonna wait, till the final you know, like baseball the
final twenty games of the year or something.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Well, but we always talk about Christmas Day being the kick.
Yeah for this, right, you had the E Cup and
you've had all these this run and E Cup does nothing.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
I don't know why you have to keep filling that
up that I mean, I'll ask people in a week
from now who won the NBA Cup and nobody will
have a cloth.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
That's fine, I won't even remember. But it got them
some juice for the short term, juice to get them
guys actually played hard basketball because they saw I'll give
you another half a million dollars at the end of
the line, there was a pot of gold at the
end of the rainbow. So you actually got an honest
effort in December from a lot of teams that you
might not otherwise.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
How about we throw this out there. Every game you
play during the eighty two game schedule, if you lose,
you don't get paid for that game, but if you win,
you get the both.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
That's like saying if you don't get any of your
pick rights, you don't get paid for that segment.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
There you go, I'm all for that too. Don't think
I'm not for that. I'm behind that.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
If you until the chick's a little smaller, because that
you lose twice because you probably lost in your picks
and now you're losing your your check. You don't want
to do that. Yeah, you don't want to go on
that road. What are you doing?

Speaker 5 (38:50):
No?

Speaker 3 (38:50):
But it's everything comes in cycles, and you've got to
have a starting point. And if this is where we're
at after two weeks of hey they've beaten us three times,
so now you can become the hero or the villain
in that story. I mean, because okay, see with the
number of draft picks they got, and that's why it's
the fun, funny, silly season kind of business for any

(39:11):
of these star players, Like, hey, we've got one hundred
first round draft picks over the next five years. You
want to hit, Yeah, but.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Will that mean anything when the playoffs come around? I mean,
if they both make it to the Western Conference finals,
is that going to mean anything that?

Speaker 3 (39:25):
No, But it's more about the sustainability right year to year. Yeah,
we look at it and we try to compartmentalize it
and put it in the vacuum. But you've got the
long road to a dynasty has to start somewhere, and
it did last year.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
He pumped the brakes on that. Slow down there, my friend,
slow down on the dynasty word on the d word. There,
got a long way to go on that.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Okay, can you never say that again because that's cut
and print. You know Alex is going to throw that
back at you for the rest of your life. But again,
the point of becoming great, can we go to that?
Can we stipulate to that? Does that not offend your
sensibilities to Yes, just because you told me how you
started working in the Stone ages earlier in your origin story.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Just because you threw that out there.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Yeah, And it's like you want to argue about what
words we can use to describe things. If you want
to be great and sustaining, you've got to win the
first one and set yourself up for the second and
go from there. And right now, guess what if the
Clippers continue their futility, who's got their pick? It's because
of the m v P trade that the thunder would

(40:37):
get that pick from the Clippers as well. We'll go
back into the idea of tradition. He's already I'm biking.
