Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Yes, sir, that's right.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
You heard the man audience spenor Vja Husky in for
the fellas on the Jason Smith Show. It is but
best friend Mike Harmon, those guys are a joint on
there last good holidays, well deserve holiday days off.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Man.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
We're sitting in for these guys, coming to you live
the Fox Sports Radio Studio. We're talking some NFL stuff
right now. We've been going through these games. We got
some games that mean something this weekend. We got some
games that don't mean something. But to me, every game
means something in the NFL. Because the NFL, much like
Arnie and I argue about Bowl games going into the offseason,
(01:03):
there are just certain things that you do want to
see and there's certain question marks that need to be
filled in, So we'll continue with these games.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Let's start one of the games that you said you
had your eyes on a little bit, this Tennessee and no, no, no,
I'm sorry. Let's go with this Colton Texans game because
you and I pulled up the map the other day
and for the early part of the day, they're running
this game for most of the nation other than Minnesota
and Green Bay and the Cleveland and Cincinnati game. They're
(01:33):
given the nation this game. No, Uncle Phil, he's announcing
that he's re retiring again. Smart man, because he got
that five years for that five extra years of insurance
for his kids and his grandkids.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
That was a smart movie.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Plus he got listen finished throwing three. But hey, man,
what about a guy just having a last few days
in the sun. You know what I'm saying, man like,
and I think it's over over form. No one cares
about the five year reset for the Hall of Fame
he's getting in anyway that gives to me. It gives
him a better shot because now more people are gonna
have to get in. They're gonna have to put him
in before he's even eligible. By the time he comes,
(02:05):
I think his second year being eligible, it will be
a time he will fit him. But the Colts at
the Texans, the Texans are still fighting for playoff positioning
here fighting for that division.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
If I'm not mistake, I don't think that division has
been decided.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Jacksonvillees up by a game, but Texans can take it
if they finished TI.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Texts right because they want that's right. You know they
have the best defense. What you what? I didn't look.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
I didn't think the Texans were gonna go ahead and
be this good defensively. I thought if they were gonna
be good, it's because CJ. Strodd would carry him on
his back.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
C J.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Strodd really had a great comeback. I didn't have a
good last good year.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Last year.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
He had a great rookie year and I loved him
and I used to tell like, wow, everybody, get this guy, everybody.
But the second year was that you know sophomore song
kind of like Jade and Daniels, but except he got hurt.
I love the way he bounced back. Texans defensively are
doing it. Uh, this is this is a good matchup
because they're fighting out with Jacksonville to see who actually
(03:02):
wins that division exactly.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Really important for seeding too.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Obviously you want to be at home or you want
to be on the road right now, Jacksonville the number
three seed and they could possibly get up to the
two seeds I believe.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, if they be if they win in New England losers.
But New England's not gonna lose. Well, hey, New England
shouldn't lose, right A. Chang's doubtful. Okay, he has like
seven guys down. Yeah, well, you know he's They've also
put Waller. Why do you put a guy on.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
A IR in week eighteen that I just I know
Marve Harrison Junior has been placed on IR.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Darren Waller's been pased on IR. I'm just trying to
figure out, like just say he's out the last game
of the year, putting him on IR must have something
to do with medical or medical or something to pay
or something like that or whatever the case may be.
Also something to going into this weekend too. They are
a lot of like last minute incentives for some of
(03:58):
these players. I actually had this down, like there's some
guys that need like eighty yards receiving or like then
they're close to getting some of these extra bonuses and
incentives would it be wrong because I know last year,
I think it was the Dallas Cowboys that had some
money that could have been paid out to. I believe
(04:18):
it was Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush was played because
they were out of playoff contention or something like that.
I know this stuff happens, man.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
I don't want to use the word collusion, but hey,
if I ain't gotta pay one point two million or
another extra million to a guy, you know, for him
not to get four or five catches and we're out
of the playoffs, you know, do I send a little
messages down to the to the coaches. Hey, let's just
tell that guy we're holding them out. I gotta save
a little bread here on the back end.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, I would. I would hate that. I don't know. Look,
I would hate anything, but I think, yeah, I don't
think it happens.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I don't think it happens too often most of these. Look,
some of the owners will just say, you're close enough,
I'm gonna actually give you your bonus, so which would
be the right thing to do.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Never, Oh, it's happened before.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Chris Jones had to chase that last sack lash. You
remember that when Jones had to chase that last sack.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
I hate. I hate the whole incentive thing.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
It does feel like they're playing strictly to go ahead
and make that money. Then once they get that sack
or that catch of the yardage, they're out of there.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I mean, I understand why they do it.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
It's way to give him more money kind of, you know,
circumvent the cap and all.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
That crap out. But I'm not not a big fan
of it.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Oh, I know there is a lot at stake, though
I saw the list you're talking about. A lot of
people are close to picking up an extra either between
five hundred thousand and a million dollars.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Right, I know a lot of money. Stefon Diggs has
one out there.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I think it's like eighty six receiving yards or something
for another four or five hundred k. Like, that's a
lot of bread. I know it's gonna get tax heavily,
like these checks do. But it's a lot of bread
man for some extra yards, some extra catches that can
help help circumvent some of this this foolish money you've
been spinnacle. We know players, some players, they spend foolish
money during the season.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
You know, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Rob Gradkowski tells the story how he was one catch
away from a bonus and Tom Brady knew about it,
and Tom said, you can't take me out of the game.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Now, I gotta throw the ball the cronck so you
can pick up the million and see that.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
They know they know this stuff, man, But Tom knew
what Gronk needed to get the million dollars.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Well, they all know.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
The Ages definitely know the Age is definitely going to
because the Ages are getting another cut because if you
hit these if you hit these incentives, that means you're
making this amount of money.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
It means got a million dollars in stake.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Listen, that's a screen pass, man.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
You ain't even got to run a route one step
and just turn around the ball. It's on its way man.
All right, let's move on another game. The Packers are
on the road at Minnesota. We've heard that JJ McCarthy
is going to play this last game. I love that,
no need and sitting the guy. He needs as many
reps as possible. They are nine and a half point
favorites at home under under thirty seven and a half.
Vegas doesn't think anybody's scoring right here. Plus three sixty
(06:59):
straight up if you want to take the pack Are
the Packers in trouble with the quarterback position here or
do you think my man Malik the Freak, Maleik the
Freak willis at a Liberty University, Liberty.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Virginia in the building. You think they could still make
some noise here.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
No, Michael Parsons, they're kind of banged up with Watson
the receiver position. Has it just been one of those
other Another Packer season was like, damn man, they were
on a roll.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
But here we are late in the year.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
They're sitting at nine six and one and it could
be ugly coming down the stretch for the pass.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah. Some certainly injuries have slowed them down a little bit.
I'm I look.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Jordan Love has played so much better than I ever
thought he was gonna play, So I give him credit
for that. They're in the number seven seed. I think
they're pretty much stuck in there. I don't know if
they're gonna be able to move on up when they're.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
In the playoffs. They're in the playoffs there. Yeah, they're
going to the playoffs. They're locked in a playoff bid.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
So and the Bears already gotten the division Bears have
already won the division, so they're not They're.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Not playing for anything else.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
For Malik Willis, I said this to Plank, how many
teams are gonna want to go out after.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
This guy and playing?
Speaker 4 (08:01):
It's like, why because he had one good game or
two good games?
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Be careful what you wish for.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Remember Flynn the quarterback got a whole bowload of money
up there in Seattle and never even became the starter.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I like Mlik Willis.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
I think he should get a chance to start somewhere,
but I am hesitant. Why give him the big, big
money until he could prove it? Kind of like Brock
Purdy didn't get the big money. Well obviously had the
way too. His contract ended, and then they gave him
the big money. I think he proved it more by
by the time his contract was up. What has Malik
(08:36):
showed us other than a game or two? That's why
I'm hesitant about.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Giving him the money.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
It's the see for me, I look at a little different.
It's not a game or two. It's the fact that
he's been with a team and somebody who obviously knows
how to develop a quarterback. He got drafted to the
Titans that thing was a cluster, you know what, And
he didn't have a shot there. We've seen this happen
with Sam Darnold. We've seen this happen with Baker Mayfield.
(09:02):
We've seen this happen with quarterbacks. Sometimes a change of
scenery for a quarterback is.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
All they need.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
A different way of coach is gonna present game plans
to him, a different way of dat. I don't care
about the money. I just think I do. I tell
you this, though, I do think he deserves a shot
somewhere else. And I tell you this, I guarantee you
he'll get a shot somewhere else. I'm not saying that
(09:30):
someone's gonna sign him and oh, you're the starter. No,
he's gonna compete. We're bringing him in because he's not
gonna compete for the starting job in Green Bay. If
he can go compete in starting job somewhere else, I
definitely could see that happening. I've been saying all year
long to my partner apartment on Sundays, if you're looking
to make a change at the quarterback position this year,
you know what, I thought this question at you the
(09:51):
college game right now, as far as what's coming into
the league is not tickling anybody's fancy.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
But one name.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Now, we name four guys that could probably playing in
the NFL. The last four they they can all play
in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
We know that. But if you're a team that thinks
that you're a quarterback away, not.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
From winning it, but a quarterback from away from just
changing your fortunes of being seven and ten, six and
eleven to being ten and seven and eleven and six,
you're probably better off researching through the league guys that
are already in the NFL, then trying to restart with
a rookie. Except for the number one overall pick Raiders,
they have to restart with a rookie, fire their coach,
(10:29):
and restart that whole thing.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
They got some weapons there.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
I think Mats Crosby's gone, but you got the best
tight ending football and I believe you have one of
the best stud growing can be all around running backs
in the league. But you might want to revisit some
of these other teams I know, and Kirk cousins name
is gonna be out there, people going.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
The only problem is is that one Vegas needs a quarterback,
but they're going to have the number one pick so
forget about them. That reams like the Jets maybe the
quarterback quarter back. So that's just three teams. That's slim.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
No, that's not three.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
That's not three teams, man, there's t Yeah, there's any teams.
Pittsburgh's gonna need a new quarterback.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
But they they look like they're pretty set on bringing
Rogers back down.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
If I'm wrong, I don't they back think Tylas Shuck
is the guys. I think they're gonna be ready to
make him the guy.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
I think they want to see more of him, and
I think he deserves to get a full season under
his belt and see what he has.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Okay, let's go ahead, Giants with Jackson Dart. You think
you think Jackson Dart is. I think Jackson does it.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
If Jackson Darts not the guy, think how easily they
can trade him and take a quarterback in this draft
if they finished in the top two picks, coach need.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
A quarterback, or they're gonna come back with Danny Dons.
Danny Dons, you know he's got torn ligaments and stuff.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Man, I would come back with Danny Dies, But when
are you going to be available? Plus you're gonna get
him on ten cents on the dollar. He's a free agent.
After that injury, You're really gonna be able to save
a lot of money for other positions because you don't
have to spend it.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
The quarterback Cleveland Dandy comes.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Remember after like eight weeks he was considered right, Hey.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I'm just hey, I'm just throwing it out there.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
You're right, and then he and then he blew his
leg out right, so that that that factors into it.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Okay, let's say Lamar, let's say this.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Let's say Ravens don't get this dub and the front
office says, okay, you know what, John has been great,
We're moving on, Lamar. We're not paying you seventy mil.
You can move on if you want to. We'll try
to move you and trade you. The Ravens could be
I'm just saying, could be in the market. Four quarterback.
There's another team, right, Well.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
They're under contract. I don't know how that's going to work.
You trade them?
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Yeah, how much Tuck's gonna cut against you know? I
hate that would have count so much against the cap
for them.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Miami.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
I mean, Miami is like all the money.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Do it? Now? Do it? Do it? Denver did Denver.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Remember when Denver cut loose with with when Denver cut
loose and trade it Russell Wilson, what was that cap hit?
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Like fifty eight million? Like something okay, but they ate
it like it's better to eat it and now get
your quarterback in now and start to develop in two
year think about it.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Two years later they're sitting at three and thirteen. Last
year with a rookie, they went to the playoffs. It
can be done. So I think they're showing people, listen,
you could cry over cat hit all you want to.
You better make you better make the You know what
a millionaire, a multi millionaire, once told me. I asked him
to say, listen, give me the best business advice you
can give a young entrepreneur like myself building my production
(13:28):
company and my comedy and my sports and just the
things that give me.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
The best business advice. He goes, cut your losses early,
VJ and double down what works early, Double down on
what works early, cut your losses early, and cut. He goes,
when you cut your losses now, it's gonna financially hurt you.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
It's gonna financially hurt you. But if you keep kicking
the can down the road, you're it's gonna take you
so long to recover. So this whole cat thing, yes,
it's gonna hit the cat for the Dolphins if they
decide to move on and trade to it. But you
much rather do it now. And you know me, I've
always been a Tool supporter, but I much rather see
them do it this offseason then actually go through another
(14:09):
eight and nine five hundred just below just above next
season didn't fire McDaniel, then move on from Tool with
a first year GM.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Now you've set your franchise back five years.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
Let me tell you what's going to happen when you
see these quarterbacks get this massive amount of money. And
then the owners complained, well, we didn't have enough money
to sign this offensive line and the protective and all that.
I believe and I think it's eventually gonna go like this,
that the salary cap will be for the whole team
except for the quarterback, and we'll have a specially cap
(14:41):
just for quarterbacks, because right now.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
It's getting too much.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Where if you have a big time quarterback with one
hundred millions of dollars like a Mahomes, you need an
offensive line. And in all year's complaints, I can't give
this guy money, and I can't give that guy money,
and we're ham strung here. So if you just took
the quarterback sorry, and separated it from everybody else, they
think it'd be very easy or.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
I actually like that, man. I've never heard anybody say that. Man,
you know what I tell you, nie.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Come up with, and that's been talked about every now
and then. Man, you actually you actually act like you
know what you're doing. But the owners would have to.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Come up with a lot more money because they would separate,
you know, the quarterback money.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Now that opens up more money for the rest of
the deep.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
So they'd have to spend more money. But I don't
care about that. They make enough money, so you know,
I don't care if they spend.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
A little bit more.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Biggest game of the weekend in my opinion, because I
believe the loser can lose their coach and their quarterback
and reset both these franchises. Sunday night A twenty pm
NBC Collinsworth Tarrico The world watching it will easily draw.
I believe fifteen million viewers, four and a half point
(15:56):
underdogs at home. The Stealers are over under forty.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
One and a half.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I've been I've been on the Ravens all year long.
My Super Bowl pick was Ravens and Eagles. I picked
the Eagles to repeat from August. When we do all
our listings here at Fox Sports Radio and we put
it up for everybody to see.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
No one can cheat. You gotta fill it in back
in August. This is my pick.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
So I gotta continue to ride with the Baltimore Ravens.
I just, I just I don't trust Pittsburgh. I haven't
trusted Pittsburgh all year long, and I'm just gonna hang
on to the Ravens. I got one more week. Lamar's
been practicing. It's not on him, though. I think he'll
make a play or two. Just turn in hand to
twenty two. Just turn in hand to twenty two. Don't
(16:38):
try to don't outthink this thing. The Steelers off rushing
defense is terrible. Turn in hand to twenty two. I
don't think they cover though this four and a half.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
It's tricking out.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Give me the Steelers to cover, but I'm picking the
Ravens to win the game.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
To me, this is the craziest line of the weekend,
right one the Pittsburgh Steelers. This should be a pick
him game anything. The Ravens are just playing horrible football.
To all this stuff about Lamar Jackson, he should be
getting a lot more grief. I mean, he had a contusion,
he had a.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Bruise on his back.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Your seasons on the line, you should be out there
with your teammates. Now. I never like to tell guy
get out there when you're injured and stuff like that,
but a lot of quarterbacks have to work through this,
especially when you're getting the big contract. And all these
leak stories about the changing practice time and falling asleep
at the at the meetings, some of it's got.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
I rewind there's a there's a rumor story about Lamar
Jackson falling asleep in meetings.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Yeah, there's all there's there's been that, there's been changing
practices to the afternoon. There's been a lot of stories
leaked out about him, and they're not favorable.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
I gotta tell you. He just sounds like somebody there
is ready to move on from him. Sounds like it
really doesn't.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Remember what you're doing on Wednesday gone or saying I
said I felt Lamar inside wants to go sometimes we
always say the grass isn't always greener. He feels inside
that he's been wrong. I think the fans want him
to go. I think they're ready to go ahead and
move on from him. He's a two time MVP. But yeah,
(18:19):
when it comes to the playoffs, he hasn't been able
to get it done.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Remember a few years ago, the rumors were remember that
summer where he was waiting on that deal. Who was
the number one team that was out there really flirting
with this and there were talks that they were trying
to make this deal happen, and that was the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
He's from South Florida, from South Florida, so that that's
a possibility. And I believe you would love to go
to South Florida. But again, I don't know how you
gonna work that out with the whole to a situation,
cut trade, whatever it does.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
They can't. They got the trade them. They trade.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
They're not cutting them. They're not that stupid. They're gonna
trade them to someone someone thinks.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Trust me, you know, you can also rework as contract
and he'll take money later on.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
But that that's all. But let them figure that out exactly.
That's not for me to figure it out.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
If he wants to go to the Dolphins, I believe
the people in Miami would like him.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Now there, I just gotta tell you.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
I said something a couple of years ago, and Planks said, oh,
that's the craziest thing.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
And I said, you know what, You're right, that was
the dumbest thing.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
I'll just chuck up to being tired, and I said,
you know, Hundley might be a better quarterback than Lamar Jackson.
I think I'd rather keep him. Now two years later,
they don't want to keep Jackson. Still, I'm not saying
it's a better quarterback. I said, they don't want to
keep Jackson. Two years later, I was right, they don't
want to keep him Jackson now, not that they want
to keep Honley over them. They just don't want Jackson.
(19:42):
And I think he's worn out as well.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Let me play GM.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
You can want to keep Hontley, but then you better
take that money that you were paying Jackson and you
better fix the rest of this day.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Forget about Hunley. This is not about Honey. I'm just saying, though,
if you're gonna keep Hontley, see here's the thing. If
you're gonna keep a certain quarterback. Okay, let's let's let's
throw it out with like Green Bay, right, Okay, if
you want to move on from.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Jordan Love and you're gonna and you're gonna, you know,
you're gonna stay with you know, we're going with Malite
the Freak VJ and Fox Sports Radio in LA he
calls him Elite the Freak. Willis, We're going with him. Okay, fine,
but damn it, you better take some of that money
and you better fix the other holes that you have.
Because Lamar Jackson, for as much flack as he gets,
all I ask somebody is namey who's been his wr
(20:27):
one Since the day he's gotten into the NFL, his
best receiver has been his Titan. Much like when Cam
knew it was in Carolina for most of his career.
Now and he was there's a rookie, he had Steve Smith,
but he had oh dadd Steve Smith. He has Steve
Smith that Jake Delome had opposite of Moose Muhammet and
the Super Bowl up on the Patriots late in the
(20:47):
fourth quarter. He didn't have that Steve Smith. Well, that
old Steve Smith. Jackson has never had a bona fide.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Throw it up to me, young and his's prime w
R one, Go get me one. Every great other quarterback
in the NFL has who is he throwing it to?
When he won two m vps, he was actually running
a lot he was throwing, didn't.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
You know?
Speaker 2 (21:13):
They say he' running for a thousand yards.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
He won m vps because he had a but he
ran four thousand yards. But he also threw the ball
and he had wide receivers. He had yet players. That's
why he won, and that's why he's a four time
pro bowler. Well, because I'm not a Baltimore Raven officionado.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
We could look it up. We could look it up.
We don't want to believe me.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
I'm telling you, when when you win two m vps,
you gotta have somebody to.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Throw them Mark and listen, Mark Andrews is an all
time great. Okay, Mark Andrews is an all time great
tight end. So he does have that. I said his
best receivers a tight end. Like, I'm not gonna knock
Mark Andrews. He's a beast. He's a bonafire stuff. But
but to to win championships if your name's not Tom Brady,
hell even Peyton Manning, had Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison.
(22:06):
We talk about Joe Burrow. Must be nice to throw
to Chase and to throw the Higgins, right. We talk
about Sam Darnold last year. Yeah, it must be nice
to be throwing to Justin Jefferson. And I'm not trying
to use that.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
As an excuse to why these guys are good. I'm
just correlating everything together. Joe Montana, who some would say
is the second greatest quarterback of all time, he threw
to a guy that wore number eighty.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
I don't have to say his name. If you don't
know it, then I don't want to talk football with you.
Only a guy like Joe excuse me, Tom Brady or
even a John Elway. When I think about guys that
have won rings, you kind of have to think really
quick about who their receivers were, Right, Like Kurt Warner's
got a Super Bowl ring. Well, you got Oz Hary Kean,
you got Isa Bruce, you got Tory Hall. Two of
(22:47):
those guys are going into the Hall of Fame. Oh,
by the way, Marshall Fault one of the best utility backs,
if not the best all around utility back in NFL
history going to the Hall of Fame was lining up
next to him or behind them, like there's you need
great players And I'm not saying that. All I'm saying
is Lamar Jackson not trying to defend him. I just
want full context. Lamar Jackson has had some shortcomings in
the postseason, but it was not his fault that Zay
(23:08):
Flowers decided to fumble on the goal line and make
it a touchback. They lost seventeen fourteen in the conference
championship game at home. Monkin, the offensive coordinator, decided to
try to prove to the world that I can make
him a pocket passer. At that point, the Ravens had
the number one rushing offense the last twenty four months
on planet Earth and got to a conference championship game
and decided to say, you know what, We're not gonna
(23:30):
dance with who we came to the party with. I'm
looking for the next pretty chick. And you know what
she did. She stayed with who she came with, and
now you're on the dance floor looking.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Whose fault is that. Lamar Jackson's three and four in
the playoffs has.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
A every time v everybody. Everybody four time probe everybody where.
I can't put that on one guy everybody, but.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
He's the one. He's the quarterback, and he's the one
that's getting the one. He's the one that's gonna get playing.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
We put it all on my Homes, We put it
always put it on Tom.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Brady quarterback Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Mahomes got a lot of First of all, he played
great this year, So I can't I think that's a
bad example because I thought Mahomes is the only reason
why the Chiefs were even still talked about this year
was Patrick Mahomes. So I think he's in a different
class by himself. But Josh Allen, Okay, whenever they lose, it's, oh,
he needs this, he needs that, he needs Josh Allen,
(24:21):
never from the masses takes to blame. There's always an
excuse for Josh Allen when when he gets eliminated. When
he gets eliminated this year, you know what they're gonna say,
We need to fire Sean McDermott. Didn't somebody just tweet
us two nights ago and ask us should we fight?
Was it Bill's Mafia? Thirty seven five G seveny three,
whatever his name was. Did he just asked that he
(24:42):
didn't blame Josh Allen. He said, yeah, I'm I'm pro
pink slip right now for Sean McDermott man. We'll take
a quick break, we'll come back. We'll touch on a
few more of these games. I want to touch on
the Steelers on the back side. We also have told
you so where Arnie and I are gonna throw out
some of our ball predictions we had in the season
beginning of the season and see they came true. And
then we'll also talk about some of the NFL awards.
(25:04):
Who has his MVP, Coach of the Year stuff like
that Defensive Player of the Year.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
I got my rat down. I know Arnie's got his.
Speaker 3 (25:09):

their coaching, their quarterback situation going. It's a Sunday night,
Jay just made showing his best friend Mike Harmon. They're
not in man, They're enjoying some well deserved vacation time.
You guys are getting VJ. Barnhowski and any sparn coming
to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studio. What's up,
Arnie real quick because I know you have to get
to the saga.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Just one one interesting, not interesting, one horrible story. You know.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Mississippi State was playing today against d wake Forest game.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Sure yeah, they were down by fourteen points.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Their future quarterback, their stud Camario Taylor, late in the
fourth quarter, while down by two touchdowns, had a gruesome, awkward,
threw some injury to his leg. They had to stop
the game. The Bulldog team came out, he was loaded
on to the cart. I just wanted to give an update.
He was walking around after the game, so knockwood. Hopefully
(26:54):
he may have escaped some serious injury. But this is
why in the Meaningless Bowl game, a lot of kids
op up because of stuff like.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
I still don't like opting out and you play, You're
gonna get hurt.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
It's football, it is what it is.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
That would be like saying I'm not flying the plan
a crash, I'm not driving the car and getting an accident.
That listen, I stand on that.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
I get it. It makes sense sometimes man.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
But okay, so you you don't play, you prepare for
the draft, and then the next thing you know, you
get drafted by a team. You make it through all
the mini camp, you make it through uh you know,
off season stuff, and you blow your ACL on the
first day of training.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Right, Well that's what he thought. You got her Michigan.
I know he's the main one.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
Right, He's the name we always bring up, and that's horrible,
but you're right, damn if you do them.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
If he's doing a great job working for the big
ten that we're calling all the Michigan So I mean, listen,
the NFL is not made for everybody, and everybody's got
their own path, man, and sometimes you just got to believe,
as Hogan would say in the Big Dude upstairs, man,
and what his path is his my pastor always tells me,
and my therapist always.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Tells me his his plan. Don't look like you're playing.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Yeah, we got our own plans until until until the
big dude ups Let you know. Nope, this is what
I have for you. When I first moved out here
to LA I thought I was gonna be in movies.
And I did do some film, and I did do
some TV, and then for some reason, I fell into
comedy and I started performing at nightclubs and headlining clubs
and opening up for big name comedians. And then somebody goes, hey, man,
you're always talking sports. You ever thought about sports talk radio?
(28:17):
I never thought about sports talk radio in my life.
I never thought about it. Someone at a thanks Giving
dinner leaning to me and said, you're in the wrong business.
You should be doing sports talk radio. And I was like, okay,
I had looked into it. Fifteen years ago, and here
I am, this was God's plan. So but I tell
you who else got a good plan?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
My man?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
With the updates best in the business to sega, How
how does like a three.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
And seventeen team get in a bowl game? Like what earlier?
Speaker 6 (28:47):
One spot was open because Notre Dame took its ball
and went home a god, and then others had so
many players leave after coaching changes.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
They just just really fast, you feel how'd you feel
about Notre Dame your just your sports? Did you care
or was it just like a come on guys? It
was that right?
Speaker 4 (29:04):
How?
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I kind of felt like, dude, are you serious?
Speaker 6 (29:06):
Well, in the old old days, over fifty years ago,
Notre Dame was better than the bulls, and they used
to not go to the bowl.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
This is a little bit different.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
Now you're clearly ticked off and saying, fine, we're not going.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
You didn't let me into college playoff.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Right, so you didn't go to the Pop Tarts Bowl
And it had its best rating in decades in Orlando,
over eight million viewers without them.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Just for the record eight million viewers for the pop
Tarts Bowl.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
There's a guy on it and has on the show,
right now, it wasn't to get rid of him.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
I do like the cinnamon one, though I didn't say that,
don't get rid of the pop tars. There's only strawberry.
Go ahead to I just had.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
The flavors post game. There By the way, as Wake
Forest did beat Mississippi State in that bowl game, you
referenced that injury that took place for Mississippi State. It
was with under two minutes to go down fourteen. Immediately
the announcer asked a legitimate question, not saying this is
the answer, but a legitimate question. Should he still have
(30:04):
been in the game, Michigan State, Mississippi State should uh
should not have been in bold. But as we discussed there,
they have so many bowl games they just needed to
fill slots. If you and I and Arnie and eight
other guys could have fielded a team, I bet we
could have got win.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
I win too. I get to play quarterback down. No
the hell you don't, boy, I'm the QB.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
You played, you played, You started five and eight, Mississippi
State finished, Rice finished five and eight, lost the bowl
game and went fort Worth today to Texas State forty
one to ten. Navy took the Liberty Bowl thirty five
thirteen over Cincinnati, and tonight in San Diego on Fox

Steelers pass rusher TJ. Watt will play Sunday night in
the finale against the Ravens. He missed the last three

Wide receiver DeVante Adams of LA was limited in practice
today with his bad hamstring. Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison
Junior was placed on ir. The NHL had its outdoor
Winter Classic roof open in Miami. Rangers five to one
winners at Florida. In college hoops, Michigan and Nebraska each
(32:35):
one each still undefeated. Nebraska beat Michigan State fifty eight
to fifty six. Number seven Gonzaga in overtime defeated Seattle
U Stanford upset Number sixteen.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Louisville in the NBA.
Speaker 6 (32:47):
And this is a great stat again from the folks
at Sportsneting Canada about Shay gilgis Alexander, the reigning MVP.
He has not played in the fourth quarter in half
of his games this year, including tonight's blowout at Golden
State one thirty one ninety four, so in twenty eight
minutes on the court, Sga had thirty points. He is
(33:09):
the player of the month in the West. In the East,
player of the month was New York's Jalen Brunson. He
had twenty four points, but Atlanta was a winner at
New York won eleven ninety nine. Bruns and from three
point range one for ten. Lakers won the late game

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Man.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
We got some good stuff going on with the NFL
this weekend, but I want to get it to your
I told you so because you and I, right, we're
two guys that like.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
To jump out there. We don't.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
I hate low hanging fruit, I hate reactionary sports talk.
I do anybody can sit on the show after it's
happened and go yeah. I knew that was gonna happen,
all right, knew that. No, no, no, I like to
jump out there, and I want to do a segment
called I told you so, And I'm gonna go first
because I had one that was super popular that everybody
win against. And everybody's in the studio right now is
gonna fill this on because this guy's been a lightning
(35:53):
rod all year long. I sat on the End Zone
show with Bo Benson, Chris Purfet, Monty Bolano's and my
co host Steve Harvey. I said should door Standers would
be the starter in Cleveland by week eleven or week twelve,
and was gonna remain the starter, not only remain as starter,
that he his play and the way they were treating
(36:14):
him was gonna get Kevin Stefanski fired and going into
the off season, people were gonna say, should Door's gonna
be the starter or giving a chance to start.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
I got told that he wasn't even gonna make the
opening day roster by people here. That was so wrong.
I was right, I told you so.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Should Door Staders was started by week eleven, kept the
job and going into the off season, he's talked about
being a starter, and we know Kevin Stefanski is going
to get fired on Monday morning.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Yeah. I don't think he should be fired. I understand why. Yeah,
I understand why they're doing it. They're looking at some
other coaches, so there's some big names out there. I'm
still wondering if the Raiders are gonna release Pete Carroll.
He's gone, Yeah, that's gonna create another opening. There's gonna
be several openings out there, so it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Be in Baltimore and pitt The loser Baltimore and Pittsburgh
loses their coach.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
I'm saying the loser, the loser of that game loses
their coach.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
I think that it's about time Tomlin maybe moved on.
I believe in his mind he's actually given it some
serious thoughts, and there's no doubt in my mind that
the fans are probably split on it fifty to fifty.
They love the streak of being above five hundred, but
the lack of Super Bowls recently, Playoff win twenty sixteen,
(37:37):
it's taking its tall nine years. Ye, no Roethlisberger around
down there. Who will take over for Pittsburgh as the
head coach?
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Though, I you know what, I I don't even know,
because I think some of these listen, Buffalo can lose
their coach.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
I thought McDermott, mcderm McDermott could be gone. Guy, I
wouldn't fire him though. They're not getting there. They're playing
a wild card, Okay, so they're not. They're they're gonna there,
going on the road.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
They lose that opening game that Bills have been going backwards, Guys,
they've been going backwards. And that's not gonna hold there anymore.
And now no one's gonna blame Josh Allen, So everything
else has to fall around Josh Allen. The next thing
to go is gonna be the head coach Sean mcger Now,
if they get to the conference championship or at least
get to the division round, to be fine, they go
home in a wild card. Look for McDermott to be
(38:22):
looking for a new job. You got and I told
you so that you said back against that was kind
of out there that.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
I was anti Chiefs. I said they would make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
But I think a lot of people kind of were
anti Chiefs coming into this year.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
What do you think. No, I I had him at
eleven wins. That's because I just still believe in Andy
Reid and I still believe in Pat Mahoney Mahomeie is
still the best quarterback in football. Nimy.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
Reid's a top five NFL coach of all time. You
do you, guys, realize this man is coached in ten
conference championship games. Amazing, He's coached in ten conference championship games.
Guys got three Super Bowl ring Yeah, well you went
to four straight or five for it, So but those counts.
So no, No, I thought they were eleven. I totally missed.
(39:05):
I totally missed on the Chiefs. That was one that
I had. I'll give you another one that I had too.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
I thought that when Miles Garrett signed that deal right
before the season, everybody, oh, well, now you know he's
gonna mail it in.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
He got paid.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
I said, no, actually he's gonna win. Deep Hartman and
I both on Live there. I said no, actually, he's
gonna win Defensive Player of the Year and he's going
for that sack record and I got him getting it.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
He's half a sack away.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
And I don't think anybody's arguing who the twenty twenty
five Defensive Player of the Year is gonna be.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
It's gonna be Miles Garrett.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Yeah, that was my pick. I have Miles Garrett. There
was no doubt. He's the big favorite. I think he's
like won to twenty on the defensive Player of the
Year for this. T J.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Watt was up there big too. Another one that I
had to It isn't cashed in yet. He's at thirteen
and a half. But you know how much I love
Hutchison Adam Michigan. He had that gruesome injury, he bounced back.
I said that he would have fifteen sacks this year.
He's at thirteen and a half, so I need a
sack and a half from this last game. I know
they're out of the playoffs. Not a good year. They're
going backwards too. Could you just a magic thinking about
(40:02):
two years ago? They're in the conference championship game. They're
up at San Francisco. They're half away. I know Hutches
is playing. I do know that. I'm not sure if
they're sitting players, but they're at Chicago. I think Chicago
might wrest the guys. They're a three point underdog. The
over unders fifty and a half. I'm not sure if
that type of weather that's going to exactly with that
type of weather that's coming in there this weekend, but
(40:24):
I think Hutch.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
I think Hutch Caleb likes to hold him to the ball.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
If he's gonna be the one back there, I think
Hutch can get him a time and get the fourteen,
get the skimmy fourteen to have, but I need that
fifteen to cash in. Those are really my three that
I stood hardcore on that people balked at against. I
had charges with eleven plus wins. They're probably gonna end
up just at eleven. I had it plus, so I
don't get the cash in on that one.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
All right, Well, hey, look you have a good weekend,
my friend. It's been fun.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
Man.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
I love you.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Bro Show Quick Show, Yeah, Quick Show of the Night too. Man,
appreciate you guys. Always stay tuned in here the Fox
Sports Radio, always great sports talk coming up, guys, God
bless we're out.
