Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Where's the safety dude? Where's the Jets? In that you
had an hour to fix it? You get an hour
to fix it? Do you think that's my job? You know?
How often I get to sit across from someone and
hear the phrase all pro New York Jets and it's
legit and it's not something that I just say.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Okay, hold on, first off, kill the music myself. Hey,
you cannot sit here and you just a note to
yourself the ten years ago. Okay, all right, hold and
bring it back up, bring it back down. So, Jason,
did you just complain that you said? How many times
do I get to sit across from an all tie
pro also safety jets?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
You said that though? Right? Yeah? Did you choose your partner?
Did he uh that that? Yeah, okay. When when when
Scott Burel called and said, who do you want too?
Speaker 4 (01:13):
Is?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I said, I said who's available? I said give me
Kerry Rhads. Yeah, okay, Carry Roads. I told you this
last week.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Carry.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
I texted Carry because he's asleep in an hour. Yeah, yeah,
that's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Cary.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
To begin to begin the show tonight, Carrie said, Hey,
this is the latest he's going to be up in
a long time, because normally he's in bed by nine o'clock.
When's the last time you were up at at the
show goes till eleven? Just so you know, yeah, oh,
I gotta go. I picked the wrong I picked the
wrong time, I think, Jason, I think it's time to go.
And you have been drinking a lot of coffee. I
noticed you really like this is you cant drinking a
(01:46):
lot of cough? Like, when's the last time you were
up until eleven o'clock at night? Up until eleven?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
I mean sporadic moments of that, probably if I'm outperforming
or something. Okay, because you know my music stuff, it's
usually late, and I actually try to do that early
as well. I tried to do one of my shows early.
It was like it was like eight thirty and I
was just singing the five people, and I was like,
all right, I probably just stay for the next the
next okay, you know, movement of people coming in, so yeah,
because he's always aware because.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
The club is probably just opening when you're saying, look,
I got to be done by now. We we're we
we don't even start serving food until nine o'clock. Yeah,
but I gotta be on at eight thirty.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
I gotta it was saying like the first show was
it was really just I was singing to my band mates.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah, okay, alright, was all right, but a little bit later,
a little bit later, I'm trying. I'm trying. So this
syeries maybe an introduction.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Was said the last time you were in the Amazon
drinking ayahuasca? Yeah that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, okay a while ago. Yeah, all rights say when
you were up past eleven? Oh yeah I was up
past eleven. No way you saw yahuasca. So do you
have it like as Aaron Rodgers gonna play this year
or what like.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
What do you know? Yeah, he's gonna play this year,
for sure, he's gonna play. Yeah wow, yeah, I hear
you from me. No, you're gonna say, I don't know,
but no, I know. Hold on, Krrie, hold on well
in the sec. But let me play this real.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Quick breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Go to the sideline, carry rose breaking. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
So Aaron Rodgers, the former ayahuasca drinker, is going to
be back for a year thirty two this year.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Okay, all right, that's okay. Now is this in some
kind of ayahuasca newsletter? Like did you get that?
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Once you once you take ayausca, the telepathy is a
real thing, just sent to each other.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Tell you. Yeah, wait, I'm talking to him right now.
Hang not exactly right talking. Yeah, he's good exactly are you?
And are you and Aaron Rodgers the only Jets ayahuasca players?
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Is there?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Like a Jets to Yahuasca plane? Like what is there?
I don't I think the Jets have enough trouble. Just yeah,
we know it was on the field worried about ayahuasca.
We have my entire forties and so far my fifties
haven't been to the playoffs. Man, longest drought in North America,
longest drought. It's insane. The Sabers are in the playoffs
again before the.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
Jets come on, man, yeah, no, yeah, the Ayahuasca tides
are real. But anyway, no, no, But outside of that though, yes,
I didn't even see I didn't even go see Aaron
at all when he's with the Jets, which is that's
also insane, that part, But I just I just didn't
I didn't even go I didn't even go back as
a as a legend type of thing either.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
So I missed him. Yeah, you booked your plane ticket
as soon as he carried the flag on the field,
and then you canceled it. That's probably that's that's that's out.
Uh So you think he's gonna play, You think he's
absolutely doing it, Yeah, because you know, I look at
Rogers and and and try to figure what's going on.
He's a guy that I think at this point he
wants to control the exit and he's not gonna come
(04:31):
back until after the draft, simply because you look at
what happened to Russell Wilson last year, where okay, giants
want me. I want to keep going. Okay, but the Giants, oh,
we got lucky in the draft, got Jackson Dart and
you knew at that moment, you take a quarterback in
the first round, forget it. The guy's gonna play, and
you're gonna finish your career in a puffy winter jacket
on the sideline at met Life Stadium. That's gonna do.
(04:53):
And that's sad for a guy like Russell Wilson. And
you know that Rogers doesn't what he wants to control
how he leaves. I thought, honest, he thought he was
gonna go after his last year with the Jets because
the last six or seven games he played pretty well.
He had a pretty good ending. But the way the
quarterback position went, hey, the itch is still there. Maybe
now being older, I need that full year to recover
(05:13):
from the Achilles. And he went and he played pretty
well for Pittsburg. But now, okay, he waited for all
the musical chairs to end. Okay, the Steelers need a quarterback.
My guy, Mike McCarthy is there, but you don't know
how the draft is gonna go. And I could sign
coming back. But if all of a sudden, Ty Simpson's
there in the first round, or the Steelers decide, hey,
(05:34):
this guy we really like is available early in the
second round, We're drafting him. And now all of a sudden,
I'm looking over my shoulder for this year I'm looking
over my shoulder for if they take a developmental guy
in the fourth round or fifth round, Rod, I'll take
him under my wing and help him because this is
my last year and I can move on that way.
But if you take a guy that's a threat to me,
I'm not going out that way. So I look at
(05:57):
this as he'll announce he's coming back after the draft
when he he's that the Steelers don't take a quarterback,
like if they take Ty Simpson, I don't think he's
gonna come back, you know, no, no, no, okay, I know
he's gonna play at some point being a first round pick,
but if they come out of the draft, they don't,
and who knows what kind of conversations are having back
and forth with each other. But like I see that,
that's when Rogers will say, Okay, I'm back now because
(06:19):
there's no one that's gonna threaten me, and I'll have
this year and if it's that bad after this year,
then I can retire. But that's when we're gonna get
news that Roger's going to return.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah, I mean the thing about this Jason with Aaron
right now, I think this is his last year regardless
soft draft or not drafted, I'm not bringing in the
guy doesn't really matter because this is it for him
in my intest, in my opinion, and so I don't
think that would be a problem for him. But you
said it right though I thought he was trying. I
thought he would leave on that Jets, that Jet one.
(06:49):
I actually wanted him to retire after that because of
how he came back and fought, and so that story
could have been you know, even though they had nothing
to play for, and Rogers really cared about them and
fought back to play the last couples like that story
would have been a decent story on the way out,
even though the season didn't go well, right, But then
you come back this year. I didn't think he's gonna
have a really good year this year either, but you know,
he came and played well in Spurts. It wasn't great.
(07:11):
I mean, he wasn't Aaron Rodgers that we know or
we've been accustomed to seeing. But there were Spurts have
been playing really good football. So by the end of
this year, to actually make the playoffs with that Pittsburgh
team and that division that we thought was gonna be
a lot tougher.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
It's gonna be better next year.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
So that Pittsburgh team being able to sneak in through
the cracks and win a division where they had no
business winning, that probably won't happen again. So for me,
even this year, that lasting image when I watch him.
When I watched Steeler games and I watched Aaron Rodgers
on the sideline, I literally look at him and be like, dude,
I'm on the couch.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
He should be on the couch with me.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Like I see his face, his helmet doesn't look really well,
like his face is like compressed. He looks tired, Like Aaron,
come on the couch with me, buddy. We came in
the same draft. He's actually a friend of mine too,
So sitting there like knowing that we came in the
same draft and I'm on the cat watching you play
and look like the grumpy old man.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Do you look a lot young? Like if you put
the two side by side, like I would say, hey,
carry road, but carry road thirty.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
Like yeah yeah, And he looks forty three, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah, like a weather forty three on that sideline
with the so like for me, I want him to
to ride off, ride over to the sunset Man.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
And I know you can't really orchestrate this thing the
way you want to. But Man had a hell of
a career, man, one of the best to ever do it.
And obviously a lot a lot of other things would
be attached to his name after this thing is over.
But as far as the player, Man, when I play,
he was the ones that I feared the most as
far as being the quarterback. Really, yes, he was like wow, okay,
oh yeah, okay, like just of what he could do
(08:41):
on the field, he struck the most fear and probably
and I'm sure it's not just me either. I'm sure
if you heard, if other defensive backs and defensive guys
told you this story, Like when he was Aaron Rodgers,
Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay we called him rocket Man.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
We did not want to see him.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
Ah okay, wow, out of all of him, I played
against Peyton, against Brady twice a year, right, all these guys.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
So he was the one that was the most talented.
All right, So what do you see from his game?
Speaker 7 (09:07):
Now?
Speaker 1 (09:07):
If I said to you, hey, the biggest thing that
because everybody loses something is they get closed. If I
say the biggest thing that Aaron Rodgers doesn't have from
a football standpoint that he used to have just because
he's gotten older. What would you say it was, Oh,
it's that my home stuff.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
It's the being able to evade, evade pass rushers and
throw the ball with the flick of his wrists and
still get it to where he wants to. So the
mobility he's lost the most. He just can't move around,
he can't buy time now. He's trying to be like
right now at this time. It's with any older player,
you try to use your brain more. And you can
see him trying to use his brain more because some
of the other things don't work. And so that's been
(09:41):
a thing that's part of his achilles heel as well,
because he likes to run the clock all the way
down to see exactly what the defense is in to
put them in the best possible play right, and he
get a lot of timeouts that you don't get to
use later on on the game that he burned early
trying to stop the stop from getting the plate clock violation.
You also see him at the last minute if he's
(10:02):
not able to get in that same play, he just
kind of throw the ball away because he can't make
something happen with his feet, So just those things where
he can't keep you off balance anymore. He's throwing from
the pocket, and so it no matter how smart you
think you are, eventually the defense is gonna catch up
and be just as smart.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
As you are. You are you say that, And that
goes into when I see him. One of the big
things I saw is that, Wow, how many times I
see him at the beginning of a play just take
a couple of steps back off his back foot and
he throws a back shoulder fade and it's got no chance, right,
because the receiver's like, what are you doing? Like DK
metcalf is like, I've run four steps into the pattern,
You've already thrown it away. And I look at it
(10:38):
and I see this is a guy that for his injuries. Boy,
he really doesn't want to get hit, right, That's the thing.
And that happened. I'm sure a lot. He's got a
lot he doesn't want to get hit, ye, But you
see it as he knows, I can't make anything work
with this play, So I'm just gonna give it up
and we're gonna go to the next play. Yeah, that's
kind of what you say with.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
It, Yeah, you're gonna give it up, because I mean
the thing with him, if he can't get to the
perfect play, I'm gonna go to the perfect matchup right.
And so if you go one on one and throw
a back showlder fade when the box is stacked with Ayton,
you can't run it here, and you can't run the
other play that's designed off of that, then you're going
to go to that one on one option out there.
And he hasn't had a guy even in New York
with Garrett Wilson. He's I think he's still developing as
(11:14):
the guy. I just you know, he's really good, but
I don't know what he is yet at this point.
And I think that's attributed to the lack of other
offensive weapons. He's on the on the quarterbacks. We know that,
we know that for sure. But that's kind of what
you see with Aaron now, even in his brilliant days
and when he did these things and they worked out
really well, he had you know, Devontae Adams. You know,
(11:37):
you have guys that can go out there and and
and windows one on one on one matchups you can't trust,
uh fourteen what now, I can't think right now a
receiver Pittsburgh, you can't. I mean, DK is not that
guy either. He's not a number one guy. He's a
he's a he's a two. He's a solid two guy.
And so to take those tens on the outside, he's
just don't have those guys that can win for him either.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Yeah, because his career, like he was always like he
would never dump the ball off to a running back.
He was always he's like what do they say about
the predators and eyes in front there for the hunt?
Like he was always downfield every single play. I I'm
not dumping this ball off. No, I am going downfield
and I have the arm to get it there. And
now you see more of he's just kind of sprays
(12:19):
it around obviously don't have the arm near the end.
Like Brady was the same way, not having the arm,
but just seeing those plays where it's like, Okay, the
Steelers just gave away you down, right, they just gave
away you down because Rogers took three steps and threw
the ball out of bounds, you know, five feet behind
the wide receiver. It's like, okay, hey, I'll take that.
But to see that, like it's a different perspect because yeah, Okay,
(12:40):
the protection's not gonna be there and I'm gonna get
hit and I want to get rid of the ball
a little bit more. I'm throwing the ball off my
back foot more. But wow, just to think about I'm
getting out of this play because I don't see anything. Now,
how frustrating does that have to get though? For coaches
and the other players, going dude, just don't give up,
but make something happen. Or are they like, Hey, I'm
glad you didn't ask me to block for eight seconds
(13:00):
on this play where nothing was gonna happen, or I
didn't have to, you know, put wear and tear on
my body on this play when it wasn't gonna work.
You just threw it out a bound Like where are
the players on that? Yeah, you gotta trust your guy.
You gotta trust your captain. You gotta trust a guy
that you know, we're believing knows the ins and outs
of this offense. And I'm sure that he does. And again,
you can try to get to the last play all
you want, but now, defenses are really good, and they're
(13:21):
really smart, and they can disguise just as long as
you can as well. So trying to get that advantage
of milking the clock and putting yourself in advantageous situations
as an offense, just isn't. You're not going to outsmart
everybody all the time. You got to have some dudes,
and you got to give those dudes a chance to
make a play.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
And I think that's been what Aarons had in the
pass and he hasn't had that the last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
So they're all pro jet safety carry roads. Hey hey,
ty Shirt, remember playing play the jingle again? He says,
Rogers is coming back this year.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
It's a big deal, breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Here, it is there, it is now. The Steelers is
Ty Shirt's favorite football team. Believe it or not. I
act like I watch football, he wears. He wears a
Steelers hoodie all the time.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Antonio Brown one default really yeah, and Antonio Brown jersey
sweatshirt like a jersey.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
It's a jersey. You have an Antonio Brown. You have
never worn that because I act like I'm a fan.
Yeah No, but you wear that Steelers Salute to Service
hoodie like three times a week in the fall. I
used to, No, you still do. I don't know what happened.
It's just not the fall anymore. It away. It's you
gave it away. That's a real thing. When Rogers went
to the Steelers, I gave it away. I'm just practicing
releasing things. Okay, all right, very good, okay, all right,
(14:35):
very good. I thought Carry would respect that. I do. Yeah,
I do.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Just released his take that Aaron Rodgers is coming back
and not it riding up with Carrie tonight. I think
I'm gonna leave it nine too. I'm gonna release the
last half of the show.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Nine. We will be in the corner doing a little USA,
a little USAW moment. Hey, look, hey, Fox Sports Radio
has openings for a co host and an engineer.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
I wonder what happened, Hot Carry. I got some copper
rods on the ground. We can go ground outside right now.
I don't think what does that mean at eight? Yeah,
we have two minutes. I don't know if that means.
I'm not gonna respond. No, I know, grounding, But why
why are you doing that? Because copper roads are conductors
of electricity? No, I get it, But why why in
(15:15):
the ground so you conduct more?
Speaker 5 (15:16):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
I understand, but what are you doing this for? Like
you're gonna try to get the clock tower to get
the get the the dolore into eighty eight miles an hour, Like,
why are you doing that?
Speaker 3 (15:24):
I would try to rebuild a Tesla tower, but I
don't want to get taken out too quick.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Oh okay, okay, So let me tell you what's happening
right now. You want the first great brawl of the
Major League Baseball season, the Braves and the Angels. Punch
is thrown all over the field. There are all kinds
of ejections happening. It is a it is a visual
(15:50):
of bedlam right now in Anaheim. Well, yeah, we'll have
more on this and more on the continuing drama between
Gino Orima and Dawn Stalley. Keep it right here, Jason Smith,
Kerry Roads all Pro Jets safety Kerry rhads in for

tire buying should be. Well, we just had the first
big brawl of the season in Major League Baseball, and
boy was it's something. Let me set it up for you,
tell you exactly what's just happened between the Braves and
the Angels. Now, Jorge Silaire comes into this game against
(17:28):
Ronaldo Lopez like something insane, like thirteen for twenty two
against him in his career, right with so incredible success.
He homers his first time up, he's hit his next
time up, so okay. So now Solaire comes up again
for his third at bat of the night runner on
first and Lopez sales one that's up and in that
(17:53):
is not. It doesn't it's it's not chin music. But
it's up high at his head. He you know, he
has to duck back. The ball goes flying and bounces
off the backstop and the runner goes to second. They
try to throw down and get the runner out, but
they can't. While they're showing the replay, all of a sudden,
the broadcast dumps out of it and Solaire is walking
(18:17):
towards the mound. Lopez is standing there with his arms
held out. He's holding onto the base ball and they're
goating each other. Solaire runs out to him and they
start throwing haymakers at each other, like, this is not
one of those I throw one punch to catcher grabs me.
This is one of those. I'm gonna give you a
couple you come back. I faint And there wasn't a
(18:39):
lot of contact, but wow, they went after each other.
Benches emptied, they tried to hold the they tried to
hold the players back. Claire I think was able to
land a couple of punches. I don't think Lopez did.
He seemed to back away most of the time. But
everything went really crazy for a few minutes. Both Solaire
and Lopez were rejected. They are just getting back to
(19:01):
playing again now as the Kinley's come in from the
bullpen now to take over. Candelario is up still four
to Atlanta lead as the Angels bat in the bottom
of the fifth inning. But this is your first real
brawl of the season, and the first thing I want
to say is that it's an attention to detail for
Lopez to hold onto the baseball during the entire situation,
(19:25):
Like you could really hurt somebody if you got a
baseball in your hand you're throwing punches. But he holds
onto the ball the entire time, doesn't let it go,
like the whole time he's backing away or throwing, you know,
and Selearira's adham throwing punches. He's got the baseball in
his hand and he holds onto it all the way
until the end like that, like at some point, don't
you don't you drop the ball? All right, We're fight
(19:45):
you drop the gloves, you drop No, But he holds
onto the baseball the entire time. Carry That's that's really
something all the way through. That's just remembering coaching Jason.
It's not a big deal.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
His coach when he was in the little league told
him to never drop the ball, and so he took
that literal.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
No.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
But it's it's no that that fact was. It was
pretty crazy.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Usually when somebody's going to fight, and we've seen a
lot of fights on the mound and baseball between pictures
and batters, and the first thing they usually do is
gloves off, ball down and let let's go. Maybe it's
maybe it was a stert fight and he was a
little scared and had a little you know, reviusioness history
and thinking about his coach and tell him the hold
on to that thing, never let go of it. So yeah,
he was he was stuck between a rock and the
(20:27):
horror PlayStation.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Okay. The fact that he's able to hold onto the ball,
I wonder if he even knows, oh, I'm still holding
onto the baseball right like, because because when when he
when he's goating, uh, when he's when he's goating, solaire
to come out, he's got his hands are held wide
like come on, come on, come on, and he's held
under the baseball. How did he swing?
Speaker 5 (20:46):
Did he swing with it like kind of still open
like he was trying to hit him with the baseball?
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Or was he holding it for force? He kind of,
I don't holding it for a force like the Emperor,
you know, like like I felt like he's holding onto it.
I don't know, because you could, like I said, that's
a you know in wrestling they call it a foreign object. Yeah,
it's a foreign object. Now you can't So I don't
know if he didn't he forgot he had it, or
but I don't know that he was he wasn't he
(21:11):
didn't like have his hand cocked up like I'm using
it as a weapon, right, I can, because I worried, like, oh,
he's gonna throw it at you. Yes, and when a guy,
you know, when a guy can throw ninety miles an
hour and if you get hit with a ninety mile
an hour ball, yeah, when when you're two feet from
that can do a lot of damage. Yeah, we're back
where we started. I'm like, okay, So I was worried,
but nobody kind of held onto it. Like I'm just
holding onto it while this is going on. It didn't
(21:32):
look like I'm ever gonna I'm ever gonna throw this
at you and hit you with it.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Do you get more excited about, uh, A batter of
rusting the mound at a picture or a good A
good hockey a good hockey fight? Like which one's more exciting?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Probably a hockey fight because I know there the refs
are gonna let it go for a certain amount of
time because it's a lot of taking the air out.
They don't want this to continue on. Okay, if these
two guys fight, that's going to you know that that
that's gonna take the temperature level of this game down
a little bit. Now you're ready to If the two
guys hate each other, they could fight. We've seen great
fights two or three times. Yeah, but like I think
(22:09):
the officials know not that you need a fight, but
when this fight is happening, if we let it go
this then the game will return to normal. Well we'll
get it here.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
You know another thing about like baseball fights and like
the pitcher, you know, throwing brush back pitches and sometimes
retaliation retaliation pitches.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
We know, we know that's a real thing.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
But this one, like you said, like he's come in hot, right,
had success against his pitchers, so come into this game.
The picture is like I have to do something to
get him off his streak against me. So you know,
coming in as a hitter, that're gonna be tallenged. So like,
what what do you think escalates the fight or gets
to the point where it's I can't take it no more?
Speaker 1 (22:46):
And like in your opinion, I think when when when
you know your guy comes in thirteen for twenty two
and he hits a home run the first time? Up,
I think that's good. That said, I am throwing at you,
and and he hit him the first and he hit
him after that, and then he ride him again. That's
what I'm saying. Why can't I get this guy out?
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Man?
Speaker 1 (23:03):
He's thirteen out of twenty two? Uh? You ever in
a football fight on the field?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah, as a as a as a rookie, we were
we were doing the what.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Is this your all pro year with the Jets? This
all pro?
Speaker 5 (23:16):
This is my rookie year, my rookie year, my rookie year.
So star you know, obviously, I mean you know you
would know I started from day one, But we were
doing the joint practice thing with the with the Giants, okay,
and so.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
We were all that's always a great idea.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
We woke up super early, were already kind of trying
making that trip up to go play them at their
at their place, and yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Ninety five degrees summer, that's always a great idea.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
And you waking up early to take the bus and
training camp, like, we don't want to do that. So
we're already going up there like with the attitude of
fighting anyway. And it was like a big ball. It
was like me, Oliver, Oliver Celestin and Eric Coleman, Jonathan Gillema,
all of us, and.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
We were just hitting each other. We were just mad.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
I hit him, I hit I hit Tumor, I threw
tumber down on the ground. Like we were just already mad.
And so it was a big old ball, Jeremy Shockey,
all of us. It was a big one. Oh wow, yeah, yeah,
it was. It was a big one.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Now, what do you like because you're seeing baseball brawls
where you know, the pitcher doesn't want to get involved
all the time sometimes other plays because there's bigger players
that come in. Was there anybody that you're like, hey,
on the football floor or is everybody fair game? Like,
did anybody like, hey, I got to stay away from
this dude on a in a brawl? Well Bigcat.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
We weren't fighting Big Cat ever, Seawan Elliskay, okay, you
stay away from Sean Ellis. Okay, we knew, we knew that,
right We knew that right away that there's no there's
no messing with Big Cat.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
And I'm sure there's other other guys on other teams,
but we didn't look at them as far as like
other competition. We were scared to go to go at them. No,
but I think you know more about your own team
and not who to mess with. And I think that's
what Sean You know, Sean ell Is represented for us
and okay, yeah, very good.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Yeah all right. So again it looks like things have
calmed down. The Braves get out of the bottom of
the inning. Uh. They are batting right now, top of
the six with a four to two lead over the Angels.
And again the first big brawl the season we've seen,
you know, again to hold on to a hold on
of the baseball during the during the whole that's that's
that's really impressive. That really is.
Speaker 5 (25:02):
Yeah, that really got you. That's that's got you really
like thinking about other decisions in life.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
That's that's a bit. Yeah, that's got me thinkured like
how how football players when they got when I always
go why are you taking your helmet off? What do
you do? Leave your helmet on? Why are you taking
a helmet on? I mean? And then some guys want
to take it off and swing it at somebody, but
still leave your helmet off, Like what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Man?
Speaker 1 (25:20):
That's gonna protect you. You're not gonna The only thing
it's gonna happen if if you do that is you're
gonna break a finger or you're gonna get hit in
the head. And you know you gotta keep your helmet on. Yeah,
that's the whole thing. Well I always killed mine on.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
Yeah, yeah you would. You wouldn't have to tell me that, Jason.
I'm like legit, Like I want to protect this at
all costs. Okay, And yeah, you have some guys that
are real hot and take it off you like exactly
what you just said?
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Why why? All right? So I'll have more on this
coming up, but we're gonna find out what's trending, right,
now in the wide world of sports, from someone who
is extremely excited because she live met the Lakers and
right now things are going well as Oklahoma City, despite
the fact the Lakers are without Lebron, Luca Reeves, Magic,
(26:03):
Kareem wilts Worthy, Sree Green Scott Byron Scott's up playing
Michael Coopers. It is it is only a seven point
lead for the Thunder in a game they were favored
by twenty So Breemureau who right now again, I think
(26:24):
your nickname should be live bet Bree. That's what we
call you. Live better Live live bet Bree, Live bet Brie.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Yeah, live bet Jesus. Okay, that's are originated from from
Jonas knocks.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Live bet like the Jesus return like this last weekend,
Like you're live betting that he's returning.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
So okay, that's what you know. It's funny, okay, So
speaking a brawl.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Jerry live bet Groundhog Day right then, he's gonna sing
a shadow like the movie. No, like the movie the
actual Groundhog.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Days that already happened like a month ago.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
No, I know, but you live betted, right shadow? I
thought you did.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
I want to live bet the Suns right now, they're
playing the Rocket. Okay, let's I bet them. That's that's great, Mare.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
That's gonna be what you're gonna tell us, And what's right?
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Well, I was gonna say something else, but I'll go
back to that. The Suns are beating the Rockets thirty
two to thirteen, two minutes left to go in the
first quarter. The Clippers are on top of the Mavericks
fifty five to forty nine. And yes, the Lakers are
within twelve points the Thunder fifty eight to forty six,
two minutes left to go in the second quarter. But
speaking of brawl, what almost happened to the Laker game.
(27:28):
Jared Vanderbilt had to be held back after JJ Reddick
subbed him out in the second quarter, and so you
see like him kind of walking towards JJ. They're kind
of yelling at each other, and JJ like stands up
from his chair and then they had to hold back
Jored Vanderbilt and it was like, oh, that could have
been another brawl on the NBA side, So wow, rap,
(27:48):
And then you know, I feel like we should all
be like Kumbayan Lakertown if they're doing so good without
all their like five stars and everything.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
So that's good.
Speaker 8 (27:55):
I'm just saying they like, why are we fighting?
Speaker 4 (27:58):
You know?
Speaker 1 (27:58):
But anyways, have the basketball in his hand like like
Mopez has. Okay, he just look.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Like a typical little podcast bro with his hands like
folded on his lap.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
You know he to a podcast real Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Like that's how he looked. He doesn't look like a coach.
Speaker 8 (28:13):
He's just like all folded, all nicely like la bougie.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
You know.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
That's just how he looked.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Other NBA news, Victor Wee Binyama will be ruled day
to day moving forward after his MRI came back clean
after he suffered his rib injury in Monday's game against
the seventy six ers. The Celtics defeated the Hornets one
thirteen o one oh two. Jalen Brown finished thirty five
points and nine rebounds.
Speaker 8 (28:33):
LaMelo Ball had a game high thirty six points in
the loss.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
The Bulls ended a seven game schedule to defeat the
Wizards one nine to ninety eight. The Timberwolves beat the
Pacers by twenty one twenty four to one oh four.
Speaker 8 (28:45):
They did that without Anthony Edwards. He was out for
a second straight game due to a right knee injury.
Minnesota can clinch a playoff spot only if the Suns lose,
so everyone's kind of watching. They're all watching the Suns
and the Rockets right now. In Major League Baseball, the
Yankees outscored the Athletics five to three. The Red Sox
snapped a three games skid to beat the Brewers three
(29:06):
to five. The reds of now one five in a
row after they came back and defeated the Marlins six
to three and ten innings. Marlins pitchers Sandy Alcntara was
two outs away from his second complete game shutout in
a row, but was pulled out at the top of
the ninth. Cincinnati then scored four runs in the top
of the tenth, and the Blue Jays have lost six
straight while the Dodgers have won five straight. After LA
(29:27):
outscored Toronto four to one, Shohey a Tani extended his
on base streak to forty two games.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Back to you guys, All right.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Thanks a bunch. Great. Now one more football start I
want to get you take on here. We talked about
the Giants two minutes ago. This is the first real
test of John Harbaugh's tenure as head coach. Of the
Giants that now the Dexter. Lawrence wants a trade right
one of their best defensive players. And look, you could
say he's probably been their best overall defensive player the
last few years. Coming off a bit of a down year,
(29:55):
but he's a guy that's real important to what they
do defensively, and he has come out and said he
wants a trade, and Harball the last couple of days said, oh,
we love him. We're gonna figure something out. Can they
really figure something out? Because I feel like Harball wants
to start like a rocket, Like he's like, this is
the team. He's coming into, a great situation, got a
(30:16):
lot of talent out there. How much they really want
this storyline to hang over what they're doing, And here's
here's something that you're gonna be asked every day you're
gonna go through every day. I feel like they're gonna
want to clean break just because you know, you don't
want this to be something that that that takes over
the storylines, and especially when you're coming off you know,
a down year. Okay, still a great player, and I
(30:36):
think you know, he's a change of scenery guy, or
he can go someplace else and still be really good,
still only twenty eight years old. But I got a
feeling by the draft the Giants are gonna find a
trade they like for whatever draft pick they're gonna go
and and they're gonna wind up trading Lawrence. Do you
see this as something that can be solved in New
York or do you think he's gonna get traded?
Speaker 5 (30:53):
I think I think it can be solved. Obviously, it
screams a money situation here, That's what it seems like.
I'm guessing it's a contract thing. But the way it's red,
the way it was put out like he it almost
feels like it's a philosophy thing. But I don't think
that's the case. I mean, Hardball is a guy that
obviously knows that defense is going to be essential for
this team. Obviously they got weapons on the outside, but
(31:14):
there's gonna be questions about that. Milieu Neighbors come up
with a knee injury, Cam up the injury as well,
and even the quarterback his injury history. So like being
able to protect those guys. They're going to be a
defensive team, and so you want that guy on your
front line in the middle that can take care of
it take care of that defense and be a leader
for that defense. So if it's a money situation, I
think it can be handled. Now if it's a philosophy thing,
(31:37):
that's a whole different thing, and we don't know that
story yet, so I don't know, but it can be fixed.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
So if it's a money thing, right, the whole philosophy thing, though,
I mean, because a lot of players like, I'm not
gonna get my numbers, yeah, of course in this system,
so I'm not playing in it, yes, right, because I'm
gonna I want to get paid again, Like he's probably
got one more paid maybe too, because now now good
defensive linemen, really good are getting paid in their age
thirty thirty one year, thirty two kind of but instead
(32:01):
where it went to like twenty nine and now they're
done so little bit. But he wants to get paid again, exactly.
But I think like if it's a scheme thing, that
might even more push it out, because all right, I'm
not gonna I'm not gonna get my numbers here, And
I just feel like hardball, this is such a it's
such a great opportunity where because look the giants say, hey,
we have everything anybody needs. Right, we have the quarterback,
we have the running game, we have the receiver, we
(32:23):
have we have the tight ends, you know, defensively, we
like what we have. You know, we're always gonna continue
to to try to fix that situation. But we like
everything we have. And here's something where our best player,
one of our best players, wants to trade. Like how
long did the Giants let this go until they decide, Okay,
we want to get out from under this. And that's
what I thought, as we're getting close to the draft,
another couple of weeks, they'll find another team that wants
(32:46):
it to find you know, maybe Jerry Jones asides again,
got to stop the run, you know, just just figure
that out. So trade Mica Parsons, Yeah, for a guy
that nobody knows, and we can stop the run. Like
I feel like you get close to that, it's gonna
be this storyline can kind of take over. So we're
gonna want to get out from under it and have
a fresh start as much as we can for the
rest of this year.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
Well, we're talking about the Giants here, and they just
had a history, a recent history of doing this same
thing you're talking about right now, and they traded end
up losing the guy to a rival in Philadelphia. His
name is Sakwon Barkley. So I don't think they're going
to be quick to get off one of their best players. Again,
That's what I'm trying to tell you, Jayson. So they're
gonna try to figure out. If it's a money thing,
(33:27):
then obviously that can be addressed. But the caveat is
what we talked about. If it's a philosophy thing, that
is that can be harmful because you know, guys do
want to go out and be impactful and get their
numbers as well.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Exit up by a Fresca Carrie, twenty five Roads, Jason Smith,
Carry Roads in from Mike Harmon tonight. We got more
football on the way, but coming up. Just because we
crowned the champion in college basketball last night doesn't mean
we don't have huge college hoops headlines tonight. In fact,
a late breaking headline tonight is next. Oh, Jason Smith,
Kerry Roads, Fox Sports Radios. I'm sorry? Who was Kerry Roads, Jets,
(34:01):
All Pro Safety, Carry Roads, Thank you, sponsors, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm. Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Ladies and gentlemen, It's The Jason Smith Show with All

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Carrie Rhoads with what the post with? What with?
Speaker 4 (34:22):
What?
Speaker 1 (34:22):
All Pro Safety? Okay for who? For who? Roads? The Jets?
Oh no, what do you mean? Don't know what's wrong
with you?
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Nothing?
Speaker 1 (34:34):
He's better than just the Jets. Nobody is better than
the Jets. No one player is better than the team.
Crazy all right, All Pro The Jason Smith Show with Jets,
All Pro Safety. Carry Roads in for Mike Harmon. Uh
developing story in Los Angeles right now, we'll get to
coming up next hour. Halftime. Boy, the Lakers without Luca,
(34:57):
without Lebron, without Austin Ree's boy, they were hanging tough
for a while. Now it's an eighteen point lead by
Oklahoma City at halftime. It's only a twenty point spread
in this game, which feels a little light. But JJ
Reddick getting into a very heated on court argument with
Jared Vanderbilt after he gets subbed out at the end
of the first quarter. We'll have more on that coming
(35:19):
up later on, But see how the rest of this
game goes, because boy, man, this Lakers, it went from
We're feeling great. We feel great about everything. Everything is
coming together, and now it's yeah, we may be going
out in the first round because no one's healthy and
it ain't know May Jason know.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
May they'll be going out in the first round if
they're without Austin Reeves and Luka Doncics.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
So speaking of arguments now, I'd like to think we're
at the end of the dawn. Staley Gino Oriemma a saga.
Maybe not. You know, we spend a lot of time
on this Friday night with Gino upset with not getting
his handshaken at mid court. He gives a really crazy
interview in the middle of the game, very concerned about
(36:00):
what down Staley is saying to the other officials. Following
the game, they nearly get in a fight at the handshake,
and you hear you can hear down Staley saying I'll
beat Gino's ass. Gino Oriema apologized over the weekend to
the staff, didn't apologize to down Staley personally. Down Staley
put out a statement today saying she spoke to Gino
(36:20):
and they want to put this behind them and continue
to grow the game. Gino Oriema put out a statement
after that saying that this morning, Dawn Staley and I
spoke about our interaction. I apologize to Dawn, her staff
and her team. I lost myself on Friday night. I
have nothing but respect and admiration for the game and
the coaches who coach it. So here's Gino, who you
(36:41):
know what happened was Gino? You have to apologize to
the person, right, you have to say Down Staley's name.
He didn't do it. Yeah, this is one of those
cases where I see it and I just go, you know,
the optic no matter what went on, Gino Oriema had
to understand you are not gonna win this. You're not
(37:01):
gonna you look really bad. And and and the fact
that what I think is taken away from it is
not is not so much a Yeah, Gino and Down
Staley got in the back and forth because look, down
Staley came out of this with one of the great
wins of her career, like all the final fours national championships.
She's gonna go remember that game when I beat Gino's
asked he wouldn't shake my hand after all? That was great? Yeah, like, okay,
you know all of that is is between the two
(37:23):
of them. But I look back, and I go, so
Gino Oriema was cooking about this before the game, that
she didn't come to the middle, the middle of the
floor and shake her hand, so much so that in
his midgame interview he's talking about what down Staley's yelling
at the officials and how they're not officiating us properly.
And I want to say, was he in the right
(37:43):
frame of mind to coach that game because you're coming
into this game and you're already cooking, Oh, she wouldn't
shake my hand in the middle of the floor, Like, dude,
forget about that. Why do you care about what she's
yelling at the referees? I mean that what he says, Oh,
she's saying stuff I don't want to repeat. Why do
you care what she's saying?
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Really?
Speaker 1 (38:00):
I look at back and go, this is one of
the great coaches of all time, And I go, I
don't know that mentally he was in the frame of
mind to coach this game when you are thrown off
your game because of something as crazy as a mid
court handshake before the game starts, like that's I look
at that and go, that's the real issue coming off
as like Gino, you still got your fastball, man, you
still focus usedtill there, because this is a game that
(38:22):
you could have won, You should have won, You had
the more talented team, and you wound up losing by fourteen,
like that should not have happened. Yeah, that's a fair take.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
I mean, obviously, I don't think anybody thought that South
Carolina could win that game, and I don't think anybody
thought that anybody could beat Yukon this year in general.
So to get caught up in a war of words
or to be thrown up your game by another stellar
coach that you know in the same breath that as
you are as a Don Staley being in that room
and having that respect, I think I get that more
(38:52):
than anything, Jason. I think there's a respect level that
Gino has for Don, and so the fact that he
felt like that wasn't reciprocated to him. I understand why
he would feel that way, but for it to affect
him coaching his team and putting putting this team in
the best situation to win, that's that's very ungeno like.
And so for that to happen in that moment and
to be caught this way, and you said it, this
(39:13):
is a lose lose situation. I mean, that's don State,
that's one of the most decorated women athletes of all
time and coaches, and so for it to happen between
you two, it's gonna be a big story.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah, And you know, and selfishly this is me, you know,
radio host, Like I kind of like the rivalry. I
kind of dig that they if they don't like each
other for whatever reason, because she's not backing down from him.
And again, this is two of the most decorated coaches
you will see in the sport. And Gino was polarizing,
(39:43):
and and Dawn Staley has had to run the last
few years where she's become one of the most popular,
invisible people in the sport. Like I think women's college
basketball and any sport you get a rivalry like this,
Like okay, I get it, but boy, it's you know,
you see that, right, I don't know that. I don't
want to keep seeing games like this, Like I still
miss Angel and Caitlin in college basketball. Now that's moved
(40:05):
to the to the w NBA, which is awesome, and
now everybody's taking sides, But like that people forget like
that birthed college bet this era of women's college basketball.
Was that the Caitlin Clark angel Reefes rivalry that that
came off of Caitlyn's career, but angel Rees winning the title,
and I feel like, you go into next years, hey
can we see South Carolina? And you cunt? Should they
schedule each other during the season, more like this is
(40:28):
a rival that. Now, hey, you can really dine out
on this the next couple of years.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
Yeah, both teams, both schools are gonna be really good
for a long time. They got coaches that are very accomplished.
You got coaches that understand the game on the high level.
Why why don't why wouldn't see that a couple of
times every year and get to get your boy to
get your blood boiled a little bit.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Yeah, No, it scheduled like maybe like four of those
games a year. I forget. We're gonna kick off the season,
then we're gonna play Christmas, and then we're gonna play
you know, beginning of February, and they're gonna play right
before March, and then in the tournament. That's how gonna
be the best of five like a like a w
NBA game or something coming up next we get back
into the Craziest story of the night Jason Smith, Kerry Rhodes, Fox,
(41:07):
All bro
