have more on the Spur and the Timberwolves. Got a
(01:02):
big hot tick coming your way in about fifteen minutes
right now. Fifty one forty seven Spurs with the lead
right now, early in the third quarter. Yes, and Edwards
did play in this game back from injury. It was
a good first half for the for the te Wolves. Look,
they came out full of energy, and they looked like
they were really had a little bit of jump. Spurs
started to come back a little bit, start to impart
(01:24):
their will on the game. Wemby with just two points
in the first quarter. Uh, Now Wemby up to eight
with nine rebounds, three assists. So slowly the Spurs are
starting to play a little bit more San Antonio Spur basket.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Be nice to see the seven foot nine guy play
inside the arc once in a while. Oh for s
from three point range a.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Little bit, a little bit, now, Wemby. Here's the thing is,
Wemby is on his way to a triple double potentially
with blocks again eight nine and seven blocks so far.
And again we are in early days. In the third
quarter in this game. If he dishes out a couple
more assists, could be getting in the quadruple double range
(02:04):
for Wimby. You don't want to be great about it.
Only the five of us will see. Yeah, well, listen,
that's that's part of the big hot take we have
coming up. But it's special just for us. We are
contractually obligated to talk about them.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Go New York, Go New York go uh contract seventy
six Ers didn't seem contractually obligated, didn't I would have to.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Talk about, you know. And here's the thing is that
this is I'm so I'm so wrapped up emotionally that
like even when the Knicks were up thirty, just because
you know, my life, I'm scarred. My sports team just
scarred me. It's like, it's like what happened.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
But Harrison Ford told us, I mean, you gotta have
be covered with scars, but you really haven't lived.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
But I'm a thirty point lead, and I'm going six
or kin, you know, with like five minutes to go
on the third quarter, I'm going they could cut it
to twenty in the next couple of minutes. And then
it's a fifteen point game. And then all of a sudden,
Maxi's hitting threes. I still have pt sports PTSD from
the from the Pacers Game one of the Eastern Conference
Finals last year. Like it's still and then it gets
to ten points. Then Brunson turns the ball over. But
(03:05):
to be quite honest, now, if I'm gonna say, scared
of the yeah, scared of the Sixers. Coming into this series.
Game one, I thought had to be a Knicks win,
right because here here the seventy six ers coming off
a very emotional seven game series, and they don't have
any time to really turn around and get going here
for game one. So I thought the Knicks, they're gonna
have to withstand the first few minutes when when the
Sixers are gonna be out there with a lot of energy,
(03:27):
and they were. They were trying to feed the ball
to WMBIAD and Bead was getting Karl Anthony Towns in
foul trouble. Everything was going the way of the Sixers.
I thought, as long as the Knicks can withstand this,
they will slowly take over this game because the Sixers
will have no legs right, just just the way the
schedule goes, having to turn around in forty eight in
less than thirty six hours and play another game, that's
what's gonna happen. And that's what happened tonight. Now that
(03:49):
being said, third straight game the Knicks have won by
twenty five points. I mean, maybe they're gonna win every
game by twenty five points, but it's hard to not believe,
especially seeing Karl Anthony Towns seventeen six and six and
again after a rough start for him where he was
on the bench with a couple of fouls. It's hard
to not believe, and I can't believe. I'm I can't
believe I'm saying this. It's hard to not believe that
(04:13):
the Knicks may have they may have just reached the
next level in the last week, because they this is
the Knicks team that I think everybody thought we were
gonna get. This team I thought we were gonna get. Now,
of course, me going this could be the Knicks hitting
the next level, it means we're peaking too early. So
again the good for me is, oh, I'm always you know,
I'm gonna ride the lightning. But it really is hard
to not think that in the last few in the
(04:35):
last week, the Knicks have hit the next level. It
was it was Brunson carrying them in the first half,
then it was Ananobi and Karl Anthony Towns. And the
bench is still coming through and they're still putting points
on the board, playing decent minutes. I mean, it's hard
to not I mean, even though staunchest of Nick haters
is gonna have to come around to the fact that, Okay,
maybe they are going to the finals. Maybe the Knicks
are going to the final.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Well, a week and a half ago, you wanted everybody fire,
except your love of Jalen Brunson has never diminished.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I look at it this way. I I think I
gave the Knicks a reality check and got them to say, hey, guys,
down to one, you are two games away from a
completely new roster. And then what happened after that? There
you go. You tried to kill them all off.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
So I'm not gonna let you forget that, because you've
written the lightning to the point where you were writing
letters sometimes, Andy, you framed to try to get everybody.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Exercised from that team. You know, guys just have to understand, hey,
there are stakes here, Okay. We got to really put
it together and sometimes you got to get their attention.
All I did was get the Knicks of tay. Guys,
we're two games away from everybody, everybody being dealt and
Brunson being here next year surrounded by all new guys,
and Mike Brown is gone.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Right, you started drawing pictures of Jannis and a Hitch uniform,
and yeah, you had a whole map out of all
the different trade scenarios to to really revamp this roster
and now you you've been dehydrated by yelling go New
York go, but watching this game right and it's look,
(06:00):
it's six to five, Like that's really what we come
down to. You got two starting lineups and you guys
have Robinson's. That's really where this series goes in terms
of depth of rosters here. But the quick turnaround at
least they don't have the well, we had to travel
all that long. Wait no, yeah, you had a little
bit of a ride to come out of your forty
(06:21):
eight hours. But against Celtic, Celtics didn't go away as
much as you can bash them, and we haven't gotten
into the Jalen Brown nonsense just yet. Three to one
you battle back, but it required everything you had and
even in that game seven, you built a huge lead
and the Celtics, to their credit, didn't roll over until
the final minutes with inexplicable offensive sets, bad shots, et cetera,
(06:48):
to ultimately go down one oh nine, one hundred. But
you were taxed and you had to play all those
extra minutes and Paul George hadn't played a lot of basketball.
Joel Embiid came back and finished off those four games
and he was fantastic. But to think that he'd be
able to go another full forty eight against the squad,
no chance. And you guys actually pretended to play defense
(07:08):
for a while. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
There the last I feel It's really hard to say,
but I feel like, okay, maybe what I said a
month ago was right.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
The super Bowl, Yeah no, that was that was three
years no no, no, no, no, no tape that that was fresh.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
When I said, you know, there is part of me,
maybe just my liver, there's part of me that that says,
maybe the Knicks are just waiting for the playoffs right
this part because look, they didn't another fifty win season. Okay,
that's great, and it didn't look like they were. They
were really in tune like you would expect. Karl Anthony
Towns is still in every other game. Guy, bad foul,
trouble for him, stupid foul sometimes. Uh, maybe they're not
(07:48):
put together the right way. All the other teams seem
to be put together. But I said, there was part
of it said when you've gone through you know, and
Jalen Brunson, every year with the Knicks, they've been to
at least the second round of the playoffs. When you've
had a group of guys that have been through it,
and you've been through long playoffs, You've had heartbreak, you've
had big wins. I mean, this group has had a
lot in the in the last three years. When you've
(08:10):
had that, there is part it's like, you know what, Yeah,
we're good. And then when the playoffs hit, Yeah you're
gonna see a little bit something more. You've seen. They
really fixed defensively. They've been playing much better defense the
last month of the season, into this, into this first
round now and into the second round. Now I read it,
it's hard for me to not think that maybe the
Knicks have hit the next level. Maybe they're turning into
the thunder of the Eastern conn Beatty points thirty five points,
(08:33):
forty points, sixty points. I know the show is today,
I know.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I know you're excited and you're speaking on behalf of
every Knicks fan we have on this network, and well,
I mean they're they're all.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
They're all on the.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Network, they're everywhere, editing Bay again, production again.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
And rough night for all of for the uh, you know,
the Knicks will never win with Jalen Brunson as their
one crowd. Yes again A lot of wins to go.
Tomorrow is gonna be a rough day on the radio
and on TV for everybody. Walen Broun, they can't win
with just Jalen brout They need somebody better than Man.
You need you need Giannis, or you need Magic Johnson,
(09:14):
maybe you need cap Uh, maybe you need Wilt. I mean,
but you're never gonna win with with just Jalen Brunton
being your one. I don't understand all this. Yeah, gonna
be a rough day tomorrow. Again.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
All the play it back you killing off your entire
team rough day. Now, look, you were like taking it
tones field, you were going into the garden.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Was I upset or was that motivation?
Speaker 3 (09:34):
And it would have been that you can't out trying
to do to the quist that look, because again the
same thing.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
If this is the Karl Anthony Towns, the Knicks are
gonna get every night that the Knicks are going to
the finals. I mean again, I don't know that they're
going to but if this is the Karl Anthony Towns,
they get, they're going to the fun. He doesn't need
a ton of shots. They run the offense through him.
He is playing. This is the best he has played.
The most consistent he has played, which means it's gonna
fall off the cliff.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Well, but we talked to play in the end of
last round of how efficient he was defending, rebounding and
getting his points without maximum shots. Right, he fit in
and just let the game come. Today he was fired
up and clearly perturbed by the early file calls and
had a great run in Bronson with his twenty seven. Look,
(10:22):
you're living large tonight. No question about Eastern Conference. We've
talked about it being a bit of a toss up
as you go. The Pistons were tested every which way,
and the Magic let him off the hook to the
point where they ultimately did fire their coach after it
looked like he'd staved off elimination. Nope, you're gone the
(10:43):
rest of the conference as long as you're healthy. And
that's where we're at with the Knicks, right, they're not
a deep squad. We can look at Quentin grind we
can look at a couple other guys that'll steal some minutes,
but you know, when it's all said, you know, in
terms of the series overall, but for your Nicks, it's
six guys, right, It's it's the starters in Mitchell Robinson
that that is it. As long as they're healthy and
(11:05):
can give you heavy, useful minutes. Yeah, you'll steal a
couple of minutes from the other guys on the bench.
And it was good to see them get their names
in the box score and they'll print them out for
posterity today.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
But all of that to say.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Yeah, grinds on the other other other run now, but
it's the opportunity up one one Oh you play again Wednesday.
So it's not like the Sixers get the benefit of
that extra day of rest or anything else. They're not deep, no,
and they're still banking on Embiid and Paul George Delog
(11:38):
heavy minutes.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
And that's the that's the one thing about this because
you know, going through this this weekend when the Sixers
won Saturn, like great, the team I'm scared of. They're
playing so well, you know a couple of things that mean, Okay, well,
game one's gonna be big because they're gonna be on
vapors from Game one. But also started thinking, you know,
if they can make it a long series, that's the
worst it we'll get for the Sixers, because that's that's
(11:59):
counting on MB to play big all the way through
this series, not just two or three games. It's kind
of to play big all the way through. Paul George,
continue to play. These are guys that were this This
is the big difference makers for them because like, oh,
by the way, you forgot about Paul George, who was
one of the big reasons why they beat the Celtics
and Embid comes back. It's, oh, my goodness, look at him.
Thirty points a game, one hundred points in the last
three games. Didn't play the first four games of the series.
(12:20):
But now to stay healthy all the way through and
to still have that jump. I thought, the longer the
series is for the for the net, the better it's
gonna be for them. Now I'm thinking, oh, we just
won this game by fifty. They go out and win
game two. Yeah, and Beid's already worried about about Nick
fans buying too many tickets for Game three, Like, okay, boy,
(12:41):
I don't think the Sixers came into this series mentally
where they needed to be. If that's the first thing
you heard. This wasn't we want the Knicks. This wasn't
Sixer fans hanging out outside going we want New York.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
This is embiid going, Hey, Philadelphia fans show up for us.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Wow, Like this is not we are It's almost like
they felt, hey, we slay our big dragon for the year,
finally beating the Celtics in the playoffs. Yes, Nixon Sixers
are big rivals. But it's like you heard a lot
about how last three playoffs they haven't won. The Sixers
haven't won. This is our time now, and a little
bit of a little bit of a self congratulatoriness because
again for the first thing for himI to say, hey,
(13:16):
when it comes to game three, dude, what are you
worried about Game three for? Don't let the fans come
in and take your seats away. Wow. Okay, that's great.
I'm glad you look at ahead to that.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Joel Madison square guard niece. Yeah, you got deep in
the thoughts there, MSG. Folks got really mad about it.
In the end, folks are gonna sell their tickets. I mean,
whether you get them first sale or not. Everybody's got
a price. And if I can buy a ticket to
Game three and sell it for four times, I don't
(13:44):
care where you're from, I don't care what that's true.
I can go buy ten more games next year. Seeah, Now, Frostburg,
you said tomorrow is gonna suck for somebody. What's what's
going on?
Speaker 4 (13:53):
You know who else? Tomorrow night's gonna suck for who's
that Laker fans? When the Rockets in thundertip It's true.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
It's all about the Rockets, Benny, all about the Rockets.
Talk about another fail no show at home. We will
have more on that series coming up in a bit.
You know, no Luca for game one. It's official, not
gonna play in game one but game two. But straight ahead,

Our House Band. Come on Jay from Ralph.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
To you, this is this band is terrible. I don't
under I don't understand your mouth. I really there's part
of me.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
I go.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
I get people looking for new things and like this
is doing. When I hear Geese and this guy, I go,
how do how do you get it? Not only how
do you get a record deal? How do you get
people saying, boy, what a great album? This is?
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Like come on man, man, it's everybody's taste. You know,
here's the thing somewhere out there. This is their number
one Spotify man, this is their this is their band
that they trump it out.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Let me just let me just let me just tell
you this to just to be quite honest. Uh, the
people that review music now have no idea what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Well, by the way, I mean, your band, it seems
like they're disbanding. They finally gave up the gig of
being a Zeppelin impersonator.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Had a great eight album, eight song EP, and then
you know, then they had a next album, had one
good song on it, and then that's been it. Shy're
one of those people, But no, no, they're the people
that review music now. I feel like they spend so
much time. Oh, the lyrics are so deeply personal. I
don't care how deeply personal it is if the song sucks.
All they have soaring melodies and catchy hooks. Do you
(17:16):
know what a catchy hook? Nobody knows what a catchy
hook is or a soaring melody. I'm like, well, I
don't understand how all of the reviews of these albums go.
This song is bad, this is a filler. Song. This
is a filler song, This is a filler album. No, no,
but the lyrics are so good. Oh, come on. A
song can be about anything. It can be about anything.
The music has to be good, but the song could
(17:37):
be about anything. It doesn't need to be something deeply
personal or something very ironic, or it's a reflection of
who we are in society today. No, it could be.
It could be. It could be unskinny bop by Poison,
as long as its music is good. I don't get
how people are reviewing songs now and they make money
and people pay attention. This is why, this is why
(17:58):
get the successive Goose and he's said, this is the
reason why.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
First off, this is the reason Who's did not have success.
We have watched his end, yes, time and time again.
He was good to a point. It used to be
Goose in the Sky, but we all know how that one.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
It didn't go well. But Rooster, Rooster eventually, Rooster eventually well,
because you know, having kids, let's accept it. But Rooster
forgave Maverick, So I think we should all forgive Maverick.
But no one can forgive Geese and that song because
it's awful. But this is a murderer. This is where
you're at then with with people reviewing rock albums and
like now we got oh gee, what a great album?
What right? It's it's all subjective. I mean it might
(18:38):
hit you.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
The deep resonance of the verbiage that Geese brings to
bear gets you excitable, and maybe it's got to catch
you hook to somebody out there, just not you.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Uh, you know who's excitable because we have to say
that this is, this is you'll love this, right. We'll
get to Wemby in a minute. Is it more about Geese? No? No, no,
we're just review. No, we're done with geees. We're done.
Did you find a review that talked about how great
they were done talking about? No, it's not Skip. Hey Kip,
congratulations Skip Please will someone put me on TV again?
(19:11):
Oh Skips going back to the eSPI congratulations Skip.
Speaker 6 (19:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Eric Adams is the former mayor of New York City.
Now this is not a political political topic. Just you
have heard of Eric Adams, you've heard his name? Uh
you know what was the phrase they used from Mark Malone,
like the much maligned Mark malian Ever, so like they
would they would say that about a quarterback in the
(19:36):
eighties who was going through a rough time, the much
maligned quarterback, so much maligned New York City mayor Eric Adams.
But in the end, he's a Knicks fan like all
of us. Because an hour ago after the Knicks one,
he posted a jiff with a the you know, the
the finger down emoji like pointing to uh, like like
pointing to this, and it's and it's the the gift
(19:58):
where that's the Knicks fans. And it says in big print,
go Nicks blank everyone else. Except it doesn't say blank.
It actually says the end one. Yeah, this guy's the
mayor of New York. I'm putting I'm the giffn says
go Nicks blank. Everyone. Everybody's trying. Hey, hey, you're trying
to get reelected. So what are you gonna do. You're
(20:19):
gonna go to the lowest common denominator. You want to
be a man of the people. No, he's not trying
to get reelected.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
He's just simply trying to I don't know, I don't
know what he's trying to trying to make someone like him.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Yeah, yeah, No, he's for us to be loved. Is
that's wrong?
Speaker 3 (20:30):
If Ben Stiller asked allowed on Twitter. Should he just
go to the met again on Wednesday? Oh yeah, yeah,
Now he's not allowed to go anywhere else. You have
to go to the Met again?
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Does he have another orange time? Can I have that?
Or gotta wear the same clothes, same clothes on Wednesday
at work? You're one by fifty again, come out. You
gotta wear the same clothes. I'll wear these are something
like clothes for wednden and do laundery tomorrow, same clothes
on Wednesday. As long as they keep winning, I'll be
wearing the same clothes on streak at Uh. Well, let's see,
this would be three times in a row that the
(20:58):
Knicks have won that I've worn this black hoodie and
the blue pants. Oh, I'm taking so so good, you know,
So this outfit again on Wednesday, one hundred percent. Not
day No, No, it's only game day. I didn't need to
You don't need to wear the same clothes every day.
It's not baseball. You wear the same clothes game day
for the NBA. So yeah, i'll tomorrow, I'll, you know,
(21:22):
give these clothes a break, wash them, get them ready
to go back on Wednesday. So I'm ready for game
two and lose. No no, no, no, no, you cannot.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
It's only the No, it's by washing off the musks,
you create an imbalance in the force.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I don't know. I think, oh, by the way, happy
made the form you and also with you, uh the
I don't think that's part. I think it's actually just
wearing the clothes of saying. I don't think it's about
not washing them. I don't think that's I don't think
that's the spirit of it. Okay, yeah, he's still you
still have the sense, don't the sense? I mean when
(21:59):
one thing are going well, like you know, when you
know people wearing the same they washed the jerseys in
between the games and stuff, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
pretty sure, don't fake the nest. So here's and I
get that. You know, in politics now, in the last
few years, we've gotten to the point where we're hearing
our leaders use profanity more in situations where it's like, wow,
(22:19):
we really need the profanity. But I mean, this is
I'm going on social media and tore eat and go
Nicks blank, everyone else. He got his intended result because
you talked about him. Yeah, I mean really, I mean
it's okay, Okay, I mean, well, here's the thing is,
because at some point I would have said John Adams,
at some point, we're gonna get to the where we're
(22:41):
allowed to curse all the time. It's not gonna matter, right,
Like you like all of a sudden, like you're like, wait,
what did the rules change that now on you know
about ten twelve years ago, where on FX and all
these cable stations they start using curse words. No, they
just decided what are you gonna do? We're gonna start
using curse words?
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Oh okay, well we're not broadcast television, so technically they
always could and it's up to it's up.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
To the cable provider and the network do we want
to use the curse word or not? Like FX, I
remember was a big thing. It was like, well you
can't use the F word. We'll let you use all
the other ones, but you can't use the F word.
Oh okay, we'll just over use all the other ones.
Can't you now the F words everywhere? Right? It's like okay, So,
I mean eventually it's.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Gonna be on the radio and wow, man, can you
imagine imagine what it's gonna be like? Here, we can
do that after Nicks games and Mets games and Jets games.
Who yeah, we bring an elevated dialogue and discord.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
No, but I'll get right I'll get right down to
the lowest common denominator like anybody. I can get down.
I can get down dirty like anybody else.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
I remember the first time, like when I was doing
a much more fantasy football content. First time I went
on a podcast, guys are like big fans would love
to have you on. And the first question is like
what the blank is wrong with this guy? Like what what.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Have I jumped into?
Speaker 3 (23:55):
And I'm like pardon And they said it again and
added an extraft on this second time, like guys like
what do we do?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
It's like, well we can. I'm like I get it.
Why do we need? But okay, go New York, Go
New York. Blank, go New York, Go New York. Blank.
Yeah yeah, blake that guy eh yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Blank and call and decision in the final flakety blank minute.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
So we'll love more on the nixt sixers Game one
recap coming up in a few minutes. Meanwhile, uh streaming
only Yeah sixty six sixty five spurs with the lead
over the tee. Wolve's been a great game so far
tonight if you are able to see it, which is
gonna get us into our take. But again, Wemby steaming
towards what could be a quadruple double. Again, if he
(24:43):
picks up his assist just a little bit, Wenby could
get in that area. But and Edwards did plays played
fifteen minutes. He has not dented the scoreboard a ton
He's got seven points, not nearly played the number of
minutes you'd expect him, but coming back, big lift for
them and the Tea Wolves right now in the Spurs
neck and neck game with two minutes to go in
the third quarter. Now, this is a thing, and this
(25:05):
is this is my point, is that I would hope
that by now the NBA will have realized that Wemby
is your most marketable player that people want to see
all the time. Right, Wemby and Luca are probably your
two guys right in the east. Yeah, you like seeing Tatum,
you like seeing Brother, I'll say you, you like Santatum,
(25:25):
you like seeing Brunson. The the mythic impact of the
Knicks and the love hate relationship that plarizing. They are.
They're fun. But but are there players that you say
you really. Look, it's fun to see all some of
these stars, right, It's fun to see Tatum, right, it's fun.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
But Cunningham, Yeah, like you're at you know, the money Python,
it's Waffer things just a little more.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
But you're you're getting the play, but you know it's
about the team matchup. And yes, you're gonna you're getting
great players, but there's no I really have to go
see Jalen Brunson play every night. I have to see
Jason Tatum play. I have to see Kate Cunningham. There's
not that. And in the West really with the with
the attention for Luca being a Laker, it's okay Luca
every night and Wemby. These are your two most marketable stars.
(26:09):
As great as Jokich is, there's not a market Sad,
I gotta se Jokic play everywhere. Sga Okay, well, I
gotta see him go to the free throw line. Right,
Luca and Wemby are your two biggest draws. And at
some point the NBA is gonna go and it's gonna
be an overnight thing. WHOA. We got to get Wemby
in front of as many people as we can, as
often as we can, and here's tonight, here's Wemby and Edwards,
(26:30):
and it's a streaming game. The NBA can tell me
till they're blue in the face. Oh, our ratings are
up eighty six percent, which nobody believes. Nobody believes that.
So what you're telling me is nobody was watching your
your product. Then it's bad. Either you don't know what
you're doing with your ratings or nobody was watching before. Right,
So either you're lying to me or telling me nobody
was watching, because you can't tell me all of a sudden,
oh oh, because we went to streaming. The NBA is
(26:51):
up when less people have streaming than have cable of
all these other outlets. But like for the NBA, like
you want Wemby on, and even though it's the Spurs,
you want Wemby on in front of as many people
as possible. This is the guy that you're gonna who's
gonna take that that that torch from from Michael, that
went to Kobe, that went to Lebron. Like it's Wemby,
(27:12):
Wemby being seven to five and doing stuff that we've
never seen a guy do, the way he alters games,
he's making watching him play defense, fun, hitting threes like
Wemby is just an absolute It's like you're watching a unicorn.
I want to watch a unicorn run up and down
in the in the hills and and see all the
the bumblebees go and the birds all sing like it's snows.
I want to see that. I want to I want it.
(27:33):
That's what it looks like. And at some point the
NBA is gonna go, oh, we gotta get Wemby on
in front of as many people as possible. This is
the guy we have to push as the face of
the league. Other players are great, but Wemby and Luca
these are the two guys. And then here's Wemby and
it's a streaming only game and it's Peacock and it's
it's hard for people to get and you're not gonna
tell me more people are seeing it because it's on streaming. Like,
(27:55):
eventually it's gonna be Okay, Wemby's gotta be like Caitlyn Clark.
Everyone of Kaitlyn Clark's game has nationally televised. You're for
the WNBA because they get it. Okay, we're putting our
biggest star on, Like, the NBA has got to get
that too.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
I think some of it as you look at it, you, right, Luca,
in the last vestiges of whatever Lebron James has left
this year and whatever seasons beyond as he continues his career,
either in LA or elsewhere. I think some of it
to steal from another streaming counterpart with a big movie
(28:27):
coming out. This is the way, in other words, this
is the way you get folks to Peacock by saying
you want to see Wemby. This is the guy you've
been hearing about him. Gus subscribe, So you're trying to
drive some subscriptions by having that exclusive content there. Do
I agree that you need a little more exposure and
(28:47):
sprinkle it out certainly to see that it's only streaming.
Look at what we have to do here in the
confines of the studio, like I'm looking at box scores
and updating you know, news results on my phone because
the iPad has to be deployed as another screen because
of the streaming options. Right as we look at the
way things get deployed here with all the different sporting
(29:10):
pieces that we've got rolling on.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
But for Wemby, it and I.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Think this has got to be strategic, And you go
back to the ratings that you cited, Well, part of
it was helped by the fact that you were on
NBC as opposed to cable. And then you decide how
much that's worth because in the end it's fuzzy math,
right that we're trying to who's got a ratings box?
Speaker 1 (29:31):
How do you calculate?
Speaker 3 (29:32):
These things have always been questioned, perhaps more so now
than they used to be. There used to be they well,
that's what they tell us, and that's the way it works,
and you book and you sell according to that. But
what the NBA and the networks drive to trumpet is, Look,
more people are coming in. But if you're the the
NBA and you made this deal with the streamer, you're
(29:53):
gonna you're gonna push product like a Wenby there to say, hey,
you got to go seek it out. And even if
you only buy it for the three months of the
NBA playoffs, because it is three plus months of NBA Playoffs,
you get to see Wemby and you'll see all the
other stuff that we can sell you along the way,
and all the other great shows. Hey remember this, Remember
(30:14):
these great sitcoms of the nineties. You can watch them
all here. You like Law and Order. We got ninety
seven seasons of it. You go all the way back
to season one if you want. We're on season they're
on season twenty.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Right now of Marishka Hargate exactly twenty seasons, exactly, spent
twenty years on that show.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Ice he's there still with her. I mean Maloney might
come back now that his show got canceled. That was
a Peacock only for season five, man Dad. Melissa McCarthy
was a guest star this last week. Yeah, there's a
lot of stuff going on that you can get in
an addition to Wenby if you subscribe to The Peacock.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Jason the next next game just on Comedy Central.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Oh stop, man, well, I guess you know. We are
winning every game by fifty. Does that lead into it
with Davettel We win every game by fifty, So TJ,
they are all laughers. I motivated them into beating the
crap out of the Hawks and not winning this game
tonight because he threatened to fire everybody. I motivated them, Man,
(31:12):
I did. I did my job.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
He was to watch the Rockets tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
This is what the rockets.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Betty just watched the Rocket Do you remember the Factory
of sadness though, because the Mets were at their absolute
worst and it looked like the Knicks were gonna go.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Out, you you were in really bad bad space there. Yeah, no,
it's bad.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
It was an extra you know, poke zero each night.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Tonight might be as good as it gets. I had
I have the Knicks, I had the Herd.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Overtime win. It's my own personal sports night. I was
surprised we didn't have cheeseburgers show up. There's something here.
You failed in that regard three out of four.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. But guy has been called the Wemby
of Fox Sports Radio. He's the tallest guy here. It's
the sa.
Speaker 6 (31:57):
Yes, exactly the same height, the two of us, oddly
exactly the same weight. Actually. As for the NBA schedule,
you mentioned the streaming only games. When Detroit is hosting
Cleveland games one and two this week, we'll be streaming only.
Lakers Oklahoma City two of the first four games scheduled
to be streaming only. And what's going on now with
(32:20):
San Antonio Tides seventy two to all early in the
fourth hosting Minnesota in a second round opener, and when
the NBA says, hey, you know, officially, this is the
highest ratings average we've had at this point of the
postseason since nineteen ninety three. The big caveat is the
Nielsen Ratings Company didn't start including out of home viewing
in their estimates until a few years ago, didn't start
(32:42):
doing so till in every single market in the country
until last year. And now they can combine the traditional
ratings with what they get from the smart TVs or
the set top boxes. So it's not quite apples to
apples when you're going back to the nineteen nineties.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
I just make stuff up. How are you how they
gonna wrong? I just make stuff up.
Speaker 6 (33:01):
I believe absolutely when they said, hey, first couple weeks
of the playoffs were averaging three point four million, But
that doesn't mean that that's the highest number that you've
gotten because the way you got the numbers is different now.
I believe, more accurate, but it is different now than before.
Victor wembin Yama with ten block shots in the first
three quarters tonight, which already tied the record for most
(33:25):
blocks in a playoff game. He has eight points eleven
rebounds as well. Minnesota now leads at San Antonio seventy
eight seventy seven with ten minutes to go in this
opener of a second round best of seven. Anthony Edwards
thirteen points off the bench. He returned after missing last
week with a hyper extended knee. The New York Knicks
(33:45):
won their second round opener, dominating Philadelphia one thirty seven
to ninety eight. Jalen Brunson thirty five points twenty seven
in the firstf By the way, the Knicks to get
leads of at least thirty points points in three straight
playoff games now has not happened with any team in
the play by Play era going back about thirty years. Brunson, specifically,
(34:09):
according to stat Zinc, in his Knicks career, has now
had forty nine playoff games. He scored at least fifteen
points in every single one of them. Only two other
guys have longer streaks to start their playoff career with
a single team, Kareem with the Bucks and by the way,
Michael Jordan with the Bulls. His first one hundred and
seventy nine playoff games he scored at least fifteen points. Well,
(34:34):
we did have some coach news. Earlier today, you may
have seen how Orlando gagged a three to one lead
in the first round and lost to the Pistons. Orlando
fired coach Jamal Moseley today and the Pistons gave coach JB.
Bickerstaff a contract extension. In the NHL playoffs, Carolina was
actually trailing a game tonight. They'd gone five straight playoff
(34:54):
games without being behind, almost about six hundred minutes worth
of hockey back to the regular season.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
They went down, there's our first, and then thirty seconds
later it was two nothing. I'm like, okay, let's stop.
Speaker 6 (35:05):
First five minutes of the game, they're down two zip
to the Flyers. Carolina wins in overtime three to two
to take a two games to none lead in their
second round series, and in game one of the series
at Vegas, it's Golden Knights through two periods leading Anaheim
won nothing. The Packers signed veteran quarterback to Rod Taylor.
They are cutting quarterback Desmond Ritter. In late night ballgames,
(35:26):
the Giants, who have lost six in a row, are
leading the Padres in the bottom of the eighth three
to one. The Padres had been just a half game
back of the Dodgers for seemingly every day in the
past week. Dodgers did get a win tonight, eight three
at Houston.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
The Mariners have.
Speaker 6 (35:42):
Come back to lead the Braves five to four in
the bottom of the seventh and the White Sox are
up six to nothing at the Angels in the bottom
of the eighth inning. And how about this from the
guy acquired from Japan for the White Sox, Munnetaka Murakami.
This season, every extra base hit he'd had this year
was a home run, including his fourteenth of the year tonight,
(36:03):
which matched the fourteenth at Aaron Judge has now hit.
Judge hit his fourteenth in the win over Baltimore twelve
to one. So fourteen homers and fourteen singles for Murakami
so far this season, twenty eight RBIs and twenty eight
walks as well. Of course, he's ruined that stretch with
a mere double. The White Sox are eating this game.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Is a new Dave Kingman.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Fourteen home runs, fourteen singles, that's what he's got, all right,
balance in the force.
Speaker 6 (36:29):
Literally, What do you think of Murakami's performance?
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Performance? The guy at fourteen run so far? His performance?
Speaker 3 (36:36):
I like that he wears his at the extra shirt,
so he looks really puffy. So I was like, oh,
the fat guy. I'm like and then he takes the
shirt off's like, wait, he's not pretty.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
Soon you'll hear him say, but I don't want to
be a pirate.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
He's only got a two year deal with the White Sox.
Speaker 6 (36:50):
He has no chance of him being a Pittsburgh Pirates.
Back to you, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (36:53):

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Fireworks in San Antonio. Right now, eighty eight eighty four,
midway through the fourth order, the t Wolves have taken
the lead over the Spurs. Edwards has ignited the offense
in the last few minutes again playing tonight, he now
has eighteen points. He is eight of twelve from the floor,
and now suddenly the previously unbeatable Spurs could be looking
(38:18):
at a one game to none deficit. It has been
all Minnesota the last few minutes.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Funny how just when you try to speak it into
existence of the greatness of a squad, the only question was, well,
they haven't done it yet, And sure enough, once again
at home, another team struggling. You look at Wenby's four
thirteen on the night, all the other stats are there,
oh for eight now from three point range, and just say, hey,
I'm due at some point, man, Yeah, I mean look
(38:45):
down one with eight points. It's like, dude, eight points.
I mean thirty three minutes eight points.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
As deep as you are, you're not winning a lot
of games. When Wemby sitting at eight points with six
minutes left.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
No, he got sixteen off the bench from Harper, eleven
from Johnson. That's all fine and good balance overall, but
stop shooting three point shots.
Speaker 6 (39:02):
Man.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
It's like I love that you can do it, but overall,
I mean, look, look at you're up to forty five
percent shooting with some hot shooting late by by Minnesota,
but for much of this game we're looking at you know,
high thirties, low forties, like the temperatures in Minneaplis most
of the year.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Well look, but well he and Fox having horrendus. I
mean they're combined seven for twenty three from the floor,
zero for twelve from three point range, right, Like, these
are the two guys you're talking about, the guy handling
the ball the most and the guy you have to
get going the most. When you're seven for twenty three, Yeah,
this is what it's gonna look like. Now, it's still
there for the Spurs, that's absolutely it's still there for them.
But again, six and a half to go in the
(39:41):
fourth quarter and Edward's heating up. Uh it is a
four point Timberwolves lead six Man of the Year. Now,
Frostburg just said, there's a new chant that has been
going on in the New York streets now and because
you know you don't want Boston anymore, right, did you.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
See what they did to Scalabrin, to worry, He just, oh, yeah,
you are, Come on, man, better improv.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
You've been around this game long enough. No, it's it's uh,
it's there. Uh so uh, Frostburg, do we have the
new chant? Yeah, we do. Cleaned up for aud for air.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
I mean, Knicks fans don't know bad words.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
No, none of them. No, No, it's not like it's
not like they were chanting blank embed and in the
first five minutes of the game, over and over again again. Yeah,
it's catchy every time he touched the ball up here.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Oh, they're not even they're not even talking about on
the broadcast, not even saying no, you're here.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Blank embiid blank embiid. Right, all right, so let's let's
hear the chant. Frostburg. What do we got?
Speaker 4 (40:35):
Sixers in five? Sixers in five? It's a good chat, right,
cat chicks fans, no basketball.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
It would almost have to be you know, that's that's
you know, they can't do it in four. No, the Sixers,
you can't. They can't do it in four. Yeah, six Ers, Sixers.
I I feel like this. I still am scared because
the Sixers with what they have putting on. But I'm
feeling a lot better after tonight. I'm also knowing that
I think there's a different chant that. That was pretty
(41:05):
good though. I like that. I mean there was a
lot of energy behind it, and I was there. Yeah,
I like that. Listen to the Nixon Ford chant.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
Yeah, they don't know basketball, I'll tell you what, though,
they didn't skip cardio.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
I mean, that was pretty good. That's a lot of
Nixon for in a row.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
That was like in the Mummy Emo temp e more.
This is this was fast Nixon Ford Nixon. This is
hyper caffey, Like you're picturing people walking down the street
with torches and and and bows and arrows and like, yeah,
this is Nixon for Let's hear it again, Let's hear
it again.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Nixon Ford, Nixon Ford.
Speaker 6 (41:48):
It's for It's for that's for President Nixon Ford, Nixon Ford.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
I mean, all the Knicks are buying Fords. Now they're
gonna be a Ford truck.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
Yeah, an oppressive chance and being told they would have
said Nixon five, but they can't celt that.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
We're not gonna need it, man, I gonna need it
this point, Nick seven, Game two. We're winning every you
right to the betting. We're winning every game by thirty
or more points and doing the Rockets Betty. It's the Rockets,
Exit the exit Swollen Dome. Jason Smith, Mike Harmon Live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Coming up next and
absolute NBA Meltdown. We got it for you here, Fox
