(00:49):
should be.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I walked in. You were stress eating. I was.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I was stress eating, guys, well, I was stress eating
chicken thighs from Opoyo Loco. Was stress eating chicken. I
wasn't like stress seating, you know, I don't know, like
vodka infused pie.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Or something like that. Like it's wrong. I don't know.
Is there something It's gotta be somewhere for that right.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I watched an old episode of Hell's Kitchen and they
had to make stuff that included alcohol. Okay, folks got
a little heavy with the poor.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
May I may not have found a little going glug
in the background. One for you, one for me kind
of thing. But you had an easy first twelve minutes. Yeah,
whoa boy? Going to the third period, Game one in
the Stanley Cup Final, my Hurricanes Golden Knights tied at
three apiece. Hurricanes got up two zip early. Ellers scored
twice first shot of the game twenty five seconds and
(01:41):
I'm like yeah, and then all of a sudden the
second period started. It was like wow, the Hurricanes look
like they're moving in mud, and Vegas had all.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Kinds of jump.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
They took the three to two lead, but Jordan Stall
with a goal that ties thet three to three. Great
pass Bycoundrey Miller. Intelligent the Hurricanes, the way they change
in transition from defense to and so fast. I mean
it's it's just a quick of a blip of a
pass from Miller to Stall, who's wide open and rips
a shot. It's three three going to the third period.
This game is drunk. It was absolutely drunk, but coming
(02:10):
into the second period and the Knights found whatever you
do when you get that rally.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
At two am in Vegas, yeah, let's go.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
So I was like, whoa, this is a much different team,
and and I'm like, okay, okay, let's just and and
a couple of you know, one goal to the short
side that Freddie Anderson probably should have stopped.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Freddie wasn't seeing the puck very well.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
No second period, I'm going looking behind you, Freddy when
not shot stopped looking behind you? Man, come on, I
don't watch looking behind you. That's the worst part. You
can do a super cut a bit looking behind the net. Friend,
I don't know that I got it. Just watch Freddy's sad.
Is that lamp on again? Let's around you know. So yeah,
at the beginning of my sports stress to with my
(02:49):
teams in the Stanley Cup final and in the NBA finals.
I'm holding it together a little bit better than I
thought at this point. But just like watching the Hurricanes
has been a really good release for me because it's
just the next eensiine it's just building in for tomorrow.
Like every second of the day, I feel like, oh,
it's just it's just taking over my body.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
You know.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
It's like it's like in.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
The in the movie when when when the superhero takes
the or you know, gets injected with whereas Peter Parker
gets bit by the Spider whatever and slowly feels as
his body is being taken over by the Spider.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
That's kind of what I'm like.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
My body is slowly being taken over to the point
where it's it's just just just hearing the word nix
and I just I just all of a sudden, everything
just slows down. I think you'd like to get bitten
by the Spider thing because he got yoked.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yoh yeah, well suddenly I had all.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
The extra century powers and everything that Tom Holland did
as a dancer was suddenly on display. You think, will
ever do a superhero movie where someone gets bit or
or or you know, strikes something that instead of giving
the power, just kills them instantly and there's like, ah,
it's like a four minute movie. It's like like Leo
is gonna be you know, Oh he's in it. All
of a sudden, Like Leo just like walks me and
(03:58):
get and he touches like a something really electric and
he's like, oh, he's good.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Powered and said.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
He just falls to the ground and smoke, and then
you know, the cops come and go, yeah, that guy's dead,
call the coroner, and then they pull out. The wide
shot is just Leo laying there and the credits go up. Wow,
it was a three minute superhero movie, all right, then,
but he gets to have one little monologue that will
be nominated for an oscar.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Well the monologue be good. He's talking about before he gets.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
The pass at me, like where he thinks he's gonna
draw power from this literally yeah, yeah, yeah, and then
he just drops.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Like he's good.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Like he's at dinner with Taylor Swift or Scarlett Johanson
who breaks up with him, and he goes out and
it's really bad and he's just you know, he grinned
ideat somehow he I'm so upset. I grab it live
wire and then you just get electric kid. It's like,
oh wow, what no, well, no, the movie's over. Oh
that's it. I was I paid eighteen dollars for that.
(04:50):
Even get any good preview. You got a commemorative popcorn bucket,
you know, and if you press this button, look at
him twitch. Oh my god, it's another toy Story preview. No,
you know what one's coming up now, but no, but
that's kind of.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Where I am right now.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Or I was like, I like today when when you know,
cause I told you like tomorrow, Like I'm certain days
where I'm just like, you know what, Look, I'm locked up.
I'm locked in and there's nothing I can do, but
you cancel today? No, No, today was okay, because today,
so listen, if we're going to do stuff, today's day said,
let's go to Costco today, let's go. We have to
if we have to go to Trader Joe's, go to
Trader Joe's today. We got to return something, go doad.
Let's do everything today because I'm all right because once
(05:26):
five o'clock hits with the Hurricanes, okay, that's fine, it's good.
But tomorrow it's going to be a whole day just
I have to be focused on the Knicks and there's
not going to be anything tomorrow until until the game.
So just know that even like ten o'clock in the morning,
I mean ten o'clock in the morning, if we get
up and I'm like, okay, what do you want to do, Well,
let's do something done before lunch. Okay, potentially that could work, right, Okay,
something done. If you're guaranteeing me, this should be done
(05:49):
before lunch. Okay, But if it's you, meditator, I mean,
what are we talking about? No yoga, no, no, no,
I just need your longer walk with the dogs. Just
like basically just sitting on the couch and and just
occupying my time with a crossword puzzle or a game
or something on television that's not it's not too much
(06:11):
that I don't have to follow it way too much.
Like tomorrow is not the best day to start a
new streaming show. I'm like, let's watch something we've watched
one hundred time. Let's watch twelve episodes of West Wing, right,
but from from ten am until game time. Let's do
that tomorrow. Like that's what I'll be good for. Okay,
you can watch to go back to the Spider Man thing,
you can watch Nick Noir movie Spider Man with Brendan.
I kind of dig it. I gotta be honest. I
(06:32):
saw it. I thought it was okay. I think my
favorite part was being able to flip back and forth
between black and white polarized version. Yeah, like watch in
the middle of the scenes and like, hey, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I go black ahead, black away.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Black away, like I'm in the black and white. I'm
about halfway done with it. But you know me, anytime
you get me, Brendan Gleason, take my money. I mean, look,
you're seeing that. I'm like, Okay, it's okay. It's not
setting the world on it's ear. It's not making me
suddenly wistful for somebody. Okay, it's all right so far.
Like it's like, you know what, it's take up my time,
Like that'd be a perfect thing tomorrow, but if it
wasn't brand new, because I wouldn't after. Like it's like
(07:05):
books on tape, Like I'm awful with books on tape,
like I could never do it, and and the whole
my whole life, my family's like you read all the time,
you know, you're driving howard of working book on tape
and I can't because within twenty seconds my mind is
somewhere else and I'm not. I can't focus.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
I just can't. I just never been able to translate.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
I just saw lyrics like you had in line a
couple of minutes ago, and I was like, like, I
get you to occupy my time, like I would hear
to the one I love like I would here like, hello,
I'm Pierce Brosen, and I'm here to read the new
Ian McEwan Book of Toneman for you, and I would think, oh, man,
Pierce BROSI yeah, but Remington Steel. I remember I had
such a huge crush on Stephanie's embalist and all that that,
(07:43):
and all of a sudden, now the book is started,
and I'm.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Like, wait, wait, wait a minute, I gotta go back.
I gotta go.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
I've gone through his entire missing me right right after
he said I'm Pierce Brosnan, like I was.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I was, I was done.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
I was.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
I'm like, okay, no, I go go back again. I
go go back again. I go go back again. Like no,
I can't do it. I can't do it.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Man.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Like I've seen those commercials for the new Harry Potter
thing with all those stars doing the different oh yeah
and everybody else, I'd be two enamored with what's going
on with Hey whose voice is? Can I pick it out?
But yeah, I mean you're inside of twenty four hours. Yeah,
tomorrow I will supply uh copious sugars good and eats herbs. Yeah,
(08:18):
and whatever to try to give you good, good, good good.
Yeah it goes If it goes well, then then I'm
screwed because you'll be high on on sugar and the Knicks,
so it'll be a uh, you'll be an unstoppable force,
almost as if you hit that live wire.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, man, it went way, yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah, and suddenly you were Jamie Fox. You're blue and
glowing and everything else. Now I gotta be honest. Yeah,
how do I feel going into Game one? Tormented? Yes, yes,
but I feel oddly great. Really, I feel odd number
one because it's the matchup I wanted, because I look,
I've told you for the last couple of weeks. The
(08:59):
Knicks are a bad matchup for the Spurs, all right,
the Thunder we're a really good matchup for San Antonio.
The Knicks are a bad matchup. And I feel great
about it. And I feel great seeing Mitchell Robinson today
a practice. He's playing, all right, it might not even
be on the injury report you look at it. If
that's all he's wearing is that little tiny sleeve on
his finger. He's gonna miss his free throws anyway, so
(09:20):
it doesn't matter. He's gonna plug and I said, so
fine about that, pretty weak sauce that they didn't sit
his ass down with everybody else for a couple of minutes.
Well answer the question, Yeah, be a man, what'd you do?
I was singing, go New York Gow and I punched
a wall. But you know what I mean, though, Like
he's out there, he's a practice whatever. It's like melee down.
Guy's like he's not gonna meet it and meet the media.
(09:41):
But we'll get into details coming because there's some stuff
that scares me, stuff that doesn't scare me, you know,
big pre NBA Finals preview night here obviously, but especially
seeing today, seeing how loose the Knicks are coming into
this game. Sometimes I I, you know, I see I
see a team going into a series, and you never know,
and once once they throw the ball, all things change.
But I can say, I like the way this team
(10:03):
is talking, they're behaving going in. I don't like the
way they're behaving going in. And then I saw this today,
which trended everywhere. Part of Nick's head coach Mike Brown's
session at NBA Finals Media day, and somehow he was
asked a story about when he was coaching flag football,
like you know, thirty years ago, and he tells this
(10:24):
story about what he tried to do to get the
parents of the team. He was the defensive coordinator of
the flag football team. What he did to try to
get the parents of the flag football team involved so
they felt like they were part of the team.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Who let the dogs out? Let the dog out?
Speaker 1 (10:44):
He wanted all the parents to cheer who let the
dogs out? Now, context, that's a tough thing, like why
is Mike Brown doing who let the Dogs Out? No,
it's pretty good, though, I mean because the shortened version
is what made the rounds. There's no question about it, right,
chanting because now it becomes a ringtone. Yeah, you just
hear that. You just hear this, right, you just say,
(11:06):
go ahead, play it again.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Let the dog, Let the dog?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Because he's got a little dance going on, right, and
he started. It's almost like you're watching remember the Titans.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
We are the Tiger.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Because at the beginning, I'm sitting here thinking, Okay, he
just needs to if he's gonna do, he just needs
to do wooooo, let the dogs out and then tell
the story. But no, no, I'm gonna do two verses
of it. He does two verses of it, like Mike
Brown is feeling it, man, Like, hey, here we are
NBA Finals day before wemby the young Spurs.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Everybody, everybody is is gearing up for this.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
It's gonna be one of the most watched NBA Finals
in NBA history. How young the Spurs are. How you
gonna worry about Steph Castlin and Jalen Brunson. And he's
sitting here singing, who let the Dogs out? I saw that,
and I said, I feel really good about where the
Knicks are mentally on this number one. Number one, you
have the just the Mike Brown thing hit me right,
(12:03):
and the whole thing where Mitchell Robinson in a different year,
a different time, a different team, that would have been
a story that ripped this team apart for the last
week and how the Knicks don't have control over their players.
There would be an investigation into why Mitchell Robinson broke
his finger, Why did he not do it, because again
the Knicks have said, he didn't do it with us,
didn't do it at practice, didn't do it in a
(12:24):
game in another year. That would have ripped this team apart,
and it would have been a whole week of Look
how embarrassing. The Knicks are and now, but that's not
the narrative. The narrative has been, Hey, Mitchell Robbinson will
probably play. We're on to other things. The Knicks are in,
let's celebrate. Look at what New York City looks like.
Look at how much the tickets are at Madison Square Garden.
And the Knicks have not. Let that be a distraction.
If you're talking about a team that's won the preamble
(12:45):
to the NBA Finals, Okay, yes, because you haven't had
a game yet and finally we're getting one tomorrow. Yeah,
the Knicks have won the preamble to the NBA Finals. Yeah,
as it's been the full run up to this game,
the couple of days that we've had, it's all just positivity.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Here's wen bin Yama again. We'll see how long the
love affair lasts. But for the moment, it's the curiosity.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Here's the guy with the monks, here's the guy that
you know is reading, and they've got all these things
that the libraries across the state of Texas of read,
like Wemby and his non fiction choices for the month
and whatever else. You should jump on board that ship.
The Jason Smith Culver City Library telling you all about
what you should be reading. But all that and just
(13:32):
go on guy to guy right, Ron Harper Lebron James
taking shots at him in his podcast this week. And
you've got Dylan Harper having a great season. You mentioned Castle,
go on down the line and everybody getting there.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
They're just due.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Here's my background, and you're learning about these players. But
it's all basking in huge ratings, huge social media content.
The Nuns, those only fans models.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Like, it's all just positivity.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Who gets to win an auction to go sit on
celebrity rod that the Knicks are doing. I mean, there's
just all of these great storylines and there's no real
villain in any of this, which you know leaves me short.
So someone's got to eventually be the bad guy. So
we'll figure out who that is as the series.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
We'll find out.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
We'll find them at the parade. We'll find the parade.
What happened, Mitchell, I'll tell you a story. I'll tell
you stalking about it. But like the point with him
is that because they dispatched the last opponents so easily. Yeah,
some macups in game, but ultimately you walk away w
after w he his story is such a background.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
He's a background character in all of this. At this point,
I was like, Hey, what happened to that guy? He
fell in the back.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
It doesn't matter right because it's not Kat, it's not Brunton,
it's not Hard, it's not all of your your primary
guys that would be on the top of the marquee
and Mike Brown singing who Let the Dogs Out? I mean,
everything else flows.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
To the background.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
I love where they are mentally, Man, tell you that
the winning the pregame one. The Knicks have won the
pregame one. Bedtime has been suspended as Jill ju ninety
dumis kids just staying up late tomorrow. They're voting today.
Uh yeah, voter, boy, you gotta vote.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I don't know if Mo'm Donny could have got him
to vote today. That's a that's a tough one because
there were a bunch of you know, times on our
ballots here in California where I was going to do
the writing of anybody, but.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
And I figured it would get disallowed.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
I'm like, well, it's just as valid as half the
ballots that are going to be submitted today anyway, exit.
I'm out of Fresco Exit Swollen Dome. Jason Smith Mike
Harman live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Uh coming
up next, Yeah, We're getting into big time previews at

scare me about the Knicks and the Spurs. We got

Mike Brown now because.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
He brought this back. Yeah. This was when ninety seven
the Baha Men, ninety eight the Baha Men. This only
who let the dogs out.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
It's like twenty seven years old. It's like five years
older than the Macarena.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, two thousand. Yeah, I think Mokarain.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Yeah, Mokaraina is like ninety five ninety six, and then insu.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
In the in between, there somewhere is tub thumping. Oh yeah, Well,
you get knocked down to get up again, you drink
the Wisney drink down, you drink the vodka drink, you
drink the water drink and you know the night the
water drinks. Then you drink the cide or drink. Okay,
you got to order, right, okay, yes, to order these things.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Chris purphfett uh.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Yeah. The Mocharena was Los de Rio in nineteen ninety three. Sure,
ninety three for the Mocharina. Really yeah, well you listen
to the That doesn't mean it necessarily took over the world.
You know, it's surprising to the macarena, like, don't get
who let the dogs are?
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Is that? Like the the.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Version with the uh Like there's the low still rio version,
and there's there's the one they play in the radio.
Then there's the one they play where the girl is
talking about like her boyfriend's like a bag of dirt
and she cheated on him with two other guys, like
you know whatever, and I'm like, whoa, it was in
the corner and all like what I first like in
(19:05):
the nineties, that was like, oh, can you play that
on the radio? I don't know, man, that's like, oh, okay, yeah,
I mean, let me tell you about my boyfriend, the
boy whose name is Shane Victorino.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Like something like that.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Out of that actually but not Shane Victory okay, brought
in a flying Oh man, it's not Shane Victorino.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
It just sits out. I forget what she says in
the song.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Wow that escalated no no, and then yeah no no,
he's like he's a bad could drop you like a
bag of dirt right.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Like he's terrible.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
And then his two friends were fine, like well, you
play that on the radio now. So this is the nineties, man,
come on, anything goes. Man, You go back and actually
listen to some of the lyrics on some of these songs,
and it's like, oh, I had a good beat.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
No, no, go back and actually listen to what's doing that?
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Man? A lot of them were really sad again in
the air tonight. I mean, Phil's now we got the
big and we start our big NBA Finals preview coming
up in a minute, But first we have the Play
of the day, brought to you by ti Iraq. For
over forty years, tire Rack's been open. Customers find the

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Well.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
It was three to three, Game one of the Stanley
Cup Final, Golden Knights Carolina Hurricanes, and then the play
of the day happened.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Now and why the left from the left boards mcnamn
right for theaters shutter stats now shoots score redirection at
the left post, the door shot it and the redirection
from the side of the goal by Brett Howden, Golden
Knights Radio Network, fourteen eleven to go in the third period.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Vegas leads Carolina four to three, Game one of the
Stanley Cup Final. Yeah, minute twenty one into the third period,
we were just settling in. It's like, hey, we're back,
intermissions over, let's go, and both both you threw stuff
down and you were mad. Tell you what, man, both
second and third periods, gold Knights have come out with
much more jumping the Hurricanes have, and that that looked there.
(21:10):
I think the first five minutes of the last two periods,
it's a three to nothing count for Vegas and Carolina.
Are you always talking about last five minutes and a half,
first five minutes and a half in the NFL the
end of an NBA game, and certainly hear the NHL
that extra juice. So Steve de Saga will have more
on this game, come up with what's trending in a
few minutes.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
But here we are, eve of.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
The NBA Finals. Finally we're getting the Knicks and the
Spurs and what's going to be one of the most
watched NBA finals of all time when you have the
Knicks and you have Wemby. Yeah, that's kind of what
it's gonna be. Well, and given the way they pumped
up the ratings for the regular season.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yeah wait do you see this?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Oh yeah, if the seasons might be I Love Lucy
or Mash finale, if the race stuff and the regular
season up eighty six percent, goodbye, farewell and I'm in
the five match episode one hundred and ten million viewers,
Game one of the Knicks end the Spurs two hundred
and forty nine million viewers in the United States alone,
(22:09):
time out Nielsen. They want to talk it over. Let
me just think about him and how impressed you. I
remember the name of the finale of the match episode
that was very well done and a nice Marv Albert
nod because I guess they did ask him to be
part of the festivities, but he doesn't feel that he
can do it proper justice with the strength of his voice,
(22:31):
doesn't want to bring you a diminished Marv Albert. And
this sense of so I could be Marv Albert, Like
this is where like I could take all I could
take jobs away from AI, Like that's the whole thing.
Like now would people be mad about that? Like, okay,
suppression Marv Albert. Marv Albert retires, he can't really do
it anymore. You had an unbelievable career. Right, Okay, now
you think, oh, now we're gonna get AI Marv Albert,
people will get upset. But if you have Jason Smith
(22:54):
as Marv Albert, now I'm taking away a job from AI.
That took a job away from somebody. So now is
that okay? I think that's okay. Well, in the end,
that Caliendo guy has done pretty well for himself with impassions.
The spectacular Frank Caliendo, I mean really, I mean now
coming up that everybody's uh, I forget do you say thing?
(23:14):
Do you think AI would would they would? Would artificial
intelligence be smart enough to stand up and go, hey,
now now we got humans taking away jobs from us,
and it's a thing like all of a sudden, this guy,
he's self realized at a whole other level. Yeah you
got there's lawsuits and being filed. And think about it,
how efficiently they can file lawsuits in the AI world.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Yeah, you're taking you're taking jobs away from us.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
We're AI. We we deserve a right to work. What
would what would that what would that protest look like
a lot of blinking lights? Would it would just look
up on your computer? It's like all of a sudden,
it started blinking with the uh no work sign and
saying Nope, we're on strike, We're not helping.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Oh man, you needed a prompt for that term, pap.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Uh So, with Game one of the finals coming up
tomorrow night, what I'm scared of? What I'm not scared of?
And you think I'm crazy. I'm not scared of Wemby.
I've been saying it for a long time. The Thunder
(24:20):
were a great matchup for the Spurs. The Knicks are
a bad matchup for the Spurs as long as Wemby
isn't Game one of the Western Conference Finals. Wemby where,
Oh my goodness, this guy could be playing just by
himself and he would be winning the game. I feel
good because I don't think Wemby is going to tilt
the game and tilt the series one way or the other.
(24:40):
He needs to be his normal great Wemby self to
keep the Spurs in it. But I'm not worried about
him taking over like he did in the Western Conference
Finals because the Knicks have more scoring and they have
more depth than more guys can score than the Thunder did.
Because you saw as the series went on, Boy, if
SGA wasn't doing it from the free through. They weren't
getting points right, you're seeing it. If something happened, Wemby
(25:03):
can only be there. I'm sure they're going to exhaust him.
It's the end of a long run for Wemby. He's
played a lot of minutes. The Knicks are going to
move the ball all around and if something happens and hey,
life is a little bit difficult for Brunson, then guess what.
Bridges can score thirty and Unobi's can score thirty, Josh
Hart can score twenty and give you a triple double.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
The Knicks are much more well rounded of a team
than Oklahoma City was so offensively, I don't see Wemby
having that kind of impact, and I'm sure the Knicks
are going to get him moving the entire time because
it has been a long time. The Knicks have had
some time to rest, even though they're young. The Spurs, hey,
they expended a lot of energy and it feels like
(25:42):
maybe they put everything into.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Getting out of the Western Conference finals. That was seven
games of blood on the floor and hair on the walls,
and suddenly are they really going to hit a new
level in the NBA? Finals or are they exhausted. I
expect the Knicks to be able.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
To do that. So Wemby, as long as he's not
allowed to be Game one, Wemby, I'm not Wemby does
not scare me for the NBA Finals.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Well, you need that incredible Hulk as you talked about
a couple of weeks ago. That was a nice little
analogy and bringing in the Marvel Cinematic universe. You know,
we already talked some Spider Man. I do also want
your that's a new single, Blood on the floor, hair
on the wall.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Yeah, yeah, son of it. That's I'm thinking here of
the dog Man. No, that's it.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, Well you can sing a few bars of that
later on. But you know, this is Mitchell Robinson. Can
you get him a good minute and hide him so
he doesn't become the.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
The ball stopper and trips to the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Can Cat move his feet and continue to play as
well as he has defensively, And again that's being generous
because it's still, you know, on a sliding scale, but
you're getting consistent effort on that end of the court.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Can he keep himself out of foul trouble? Right? Aggressive
Wemby is.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
The way this has to go to try to thin
that front line pretty fast. And for the Spurs, obviously,
the other side of it is, you know, slowing down
Bruns and he getting the ball out of his hands.
Will those shooters still be as sharp as they've been
in the past. The answer is, like the Tutsi roll pop.
(27:18):
The world may never know, but we're gonna find out
starting tomorrow. Right because the Nicks laid waste to all
of the Eastern Conference teams. Here, you've got some bigger,
more aggressive guards that can body up defensively, and so
we'll see how quickly what kind of series we're going
to get it. At least Game one is the most
(27:39):
interesting to see how quick the whistle is right. If
Wenby's going to go attack in the low post, is
Kat going to get to body him or is he not.
That's going to determine a lot because it also determines
your offense.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Your Nicks.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
The way they've played these last several series of running
the ball, you know, through me, not to me, the
Jamie Tar philosophy that they've used with because if suddenly
his ass is on the bench with two valves, it
all goes asunder. Well, and look and you you talked
about Brunson, and and that's the one thing say, Hey,
what does scare me a little bit is that I
(28:15):
can see Steph Castle giving Brunson a lot of problems. Right,
But but the flip side of it is is that, Okay,
if he's giving Brunson problems again, the depth of the
Knicks offense where other guys can score. It's I'm look
at all these series where you saw teams go home.
What do we find out Why the Thunder home didn't
have another guy behind SGA that could score?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Right?
Speaker 1 (28:36):
That that's why they're home? Right, You see all these teams.
Why why do the Lakers go home? Well, nobody behind
Lebron James that could score?
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Right?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Why did the Celtics go? All these teams that went
home that you can say, man, they really had difficulty
finding their secondary scorer who could put the ball in
the net, right, like Denver the same way, right, all
of this stuff, Houston, all of this was they really
just don't have that second guy. When it's all said
and done, that they have a plethora of guys that
(29:03):
can score thirty points. Maybe it's cat in a big matchup,
and he's able to maneuver down low, and maybe he's
more facilitator in the post, maybe he scores more. That's
the thing is that, Yeah, I can see Castle giving
Brunson a lot of problems, but the Knicks will do
things like, let's give Brunson some time off the ball,
bringing the ball up the court, and they have other
options where if Brunson's in trouble, there's other guys they
(29:24):
can trust. Mike Brownitz what he brought out with the
team this year is that, hey, there's lots of guys
we trust to shoot now right in the fact, making
cat a facilitator. All these guys are getting more shots,
and when shooters have more shots, they feel better and
Unobe and Bird like the Knicks offensive depth is a
really bad matchup for the Spurs. I mean, that's the
part of the chess game that I love for the Knicks. Yeah,
(29:45):
both teamed with five guys that average double figures over
the course of the year. For the Spurs, obviously, there's
a little bit of the drop Wemby was at at
least for these postseason numbers. Anyway, twenty three to two
for Wemby and then Castle's at nineteen sixteen for Fox.
His health and chimpannee and Keldon Johnson is really.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
I think for the series. He's got to play a
monster role. Right.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
He was invisible for much of that series against the
thunder shot terribly and sixth man of the Year, so
you're anticipating better, more consistent minutes off the bench. He's
going to be pivotal if the Spurs are gonna run,
and it's not because of the hulklike Wembin Yama, just
imposing his will exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome.
(30:33):

Speaker 2 (31:06):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
We had to trade Arnold the way to the Panthers.
Then he had to go to the forty nine.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Ers, and finally he goes to the Vikings play as
well Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Four and a half to go
in the third period, Freddie Anderson has just made two
stellar saves to keep this a four to four game
Golden Knights and the Hurricanes again, four and a half
to go in regulation. Do you think he played the
(31:44):
first you know, fifty six minutes without his contacts and
then he said, well, now we're gonna eaven things up.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
I forgot I was left handed a right, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
No.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
I think what happened curious, not judgemental.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
The first two and a half periods, I think Jean
Claude van Dam from sudden death was playing goalie like
I think he beat Freddie up the took the gear
and went on the ice actually played it again. Yeah,
I mean it's not the penalty shot John Claud van Dam.
So there was that big deal. So spry again. We'll
love more on this coming up throughout the night again
four four four minutes ago in the third period. So yesterday,
(32:20):
Miles Garrett gets traded to the Rams and he's gonna
wear number ninety five. They already had the press conference,
very excited. He heard a lot of talk the last
couple of days from the Brown. He said, listen, if
we weren't getting Jared VERSU, weren't making the trade. Look,
don't need to defend it. It's a great trade. You
are tanking. By the time you're good again, Miles Garrett's
(32:40):
gonna be thirty three. So everybody does well. Everybody did well.
But a clip by I made sure we went back
and watched in its entirety before we hit the airwaves
that I think was getting clipped improperly and a terrible
job by the media asking Barry back in Cleveland about the.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Trade, Well, why didn't you do this? Why did you
do that?
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Because the guy had a full no trade clause. Yeah,
he wasn't going to accept a trade to some of
these bottom feeders that might have come with a bevy
of pigs and options like no, no, no, it was
a select few.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Where will you go there?
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Okay, we tried to center to the Jets, but that
didn't work out.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
But that's it.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Like he did a bunch of marble mouth, get on
kind of response and and really, like all you had
to say was he wasn't gonna go to.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Just anywhere, period.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
So but today the story has become about the former
best defensive player in the NFL. Will Aaron Donald come
out of retirement to play now that the Rams are
loading up again and here they are with Miles Garrett
and what's going to happen? So I gotta say this,
(33:47):
it's been a fun last twenty four hours. And Aaron Donald,
going back and forth with Pat McAfee says it's got
me thinking for sure if I'm going to come back,
And Sean McVay said today, I talk to Aaron all
the time. We'd love to have him back. Well, you know,
we can fit him in, but it's really up to
him at this point. There's a lot of fun and
excitement right now about Aaron Donald. But if you're really
(34:08):
just thinking about it now and it's not been something
that you look he retired in twenty twenty four, I
think this is one of those where I feel like
the story is so fun and here's Miles Garrett. What
would that be like with Garrett and and Aaron Donald
playing together? Boy, would that be fun. I feel like
we're on the vapors of the excitement right now. And
(34:28):
then in a couple of days it's gonna be yeah, Yeah, don't.
I don't think I'm coming back, Like I'd really be
stunned if this all of a sudden turned into something serious.
And it's not just hey, this is a big trade.
It's exciting. People are calling me they want to see
if I can play again because the last thing they
saw of me was on the Monday night game from
a year ago. I was asleep midway through the second half.
Like it would be an awesome story. I'd love to
(34:50):
see it. Can you still do it at thirty five?
But honestly, I feel like it's one of those Hey,
it's the exciting story, and it's gonna have some legs
for a couple of days, and then cooler heads are
gonna prevail hell, and it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Be Yeah, I'm I'm I'm happily retired.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Yeah. Even his wife posted the yeah how much is
he on this? And it was a picture of him napping, right,
So I had that Jordan Schultz put up before that
he talked to talk to him quote, I'm sure flirting
with the idea hell of an opportunity with the super
Bowl and so far this year if I can find
the fire, it's a possibility. Sure, And Sophia Ergaara and
(35:25):
I are going to hit the town later on tonight.
Let me let me know, let me know.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
I mean, anything's possible. Just throw it into the universe.
Yeah yeah, yeah, she's a lot taller than you. That's okay.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
I'm just saying yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, be like like
like let's go throw let's go, kidman, let's go, let's
keep going.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Susan Anton and Dudley Moore. I was gonna.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Dudley bits a man. Would you like to make sure
Arthur was a fat, magnificent film? Uh? But no, I
mean it's a nice curiosity. It's a fun talking point.
We'll see what happens when they're done with What Australia.
Yeah it sounds great. It all sounds great and it's exciting.
But it's like anything that an idea that sounds great
(36:12):
and then after a couple of days you go, yeah, no,
I really don't want to do that.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
I don't want to do that. I'd be stunned if
Aaron Donald.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
You really had to train for football as opposed to
I'm in the gym. We got more NBA on the
Way and the Knights have just taken a five to
four lead over the Hurricanes. It's an empty net for Carolina,
under two minutes left to go. More on this, We're
just getting started. Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio,
