(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
the Jason Smith Show with my bist friend Mike Harmon.
Harmon Harmon's out tonight. Harmon is either at Disneyland or
he is organizing his set of six tops or Don

(00:45):
Russ baseball cards. So one of those things he is.
He's a wait a bit, waitit Ti shirt. We have
audio of harmony. So somebody actually, our faithful listener did
a quick question, said so, Mike, since you're after today,
where you going you want to hear it? Yeah, yeah,
go ahead, let me hear you. Champ Man. I feel great, man,
I'm going there it is. I don't doubt that. I

(01:12):
don't doubt that that's Harmon. I really don't think that
that's absolutely him. Uh So now we know what Harmon
is doing. That's good. Um, and boy, I'm I'm glad
he You know, he doesn't curse when he's on the
air with us. He saves that. He saves that for
when he's out in public and people catch going to Disneyland.
I'm the guy in the purple shorts man up there.

(01:32):
It's awesome. Uh. Two big pieces of head coaching news
in the NBA today. One happened earlier today and one
is brand spanking new a Sham's bomb shams Trania breaking
the news earlier. Uh, in last hour, I would say
about twenty five minutes ago that Chauncey Billups will now

(01:53):
become the new head coach of the Portland Trailblazers. Uh.
Chauncey Billups defeated for the jobs birds assistant Becky Hammond
Mike D'Antoni. While as earlier in the day, we saw
Jason Kidd become the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. Now,
let's deal with Jason Kidd and Dallas first, and we'll
get into Chauncey belt because that's a big time conversation
that has a lot of teeth to it. Um. It's

(02:15):
not the big thing that Jason Kidd gets the job
as Mavericks head coach. The big thing is that Nike's
Nico Harrison comes on as general manager. And look, we've
seen this now in the NBA and the Major League Baseball.
Look the Mets aired Brody van Wagen and to be
their GM, complete total failure. But we've seen it in
the NBA where we're seeing teams going with execs, uh

(02:39):
come in because they have relationships and it's about being
able to convince players to come in free agency. And
that's kind of what it's been. Uh So, Nico Harrison
is the new general manager. He's gonna run the franchise
is basketball operations. Why is is that big a deal? Look,
Jason Kids a good head coach, right. I like Jason Kidd.
I've said many times he's one of those he's like
a Bill Parcels type where he's got a goes someplace

(03:00):
for a very short period of time, and before everybody
gets mad at each other, he turns a team around. Right,
He's done that a couple of times, and I'm sure
in two years the Maverick's gonna be fed up with him.
He's gonna piss off Mark Cuban or Luca Don said
he's gonna wind up getting fired. That's kind of what
it is. But the big thing is Nico Harrison, because
Harrison's got a big relationship with Luca don Sich. Uh.

(03:22):
He's the one that convinced him to shift his endorsement
deal over to the Nike owed Jordan Brand a couple
of years ago. So you know that, Uh, Luca was
gonna listen to him and likes the fact that one
of his allies is now running the team. When Luca
just basically, you know, blowtorch the entire Maverick's front office.
And while Mark Cuban is saying where and everything is

(03:43):
fine here? Nothing, nothing's going wrong? You're fired? Uh did?
Everything is good? I'm not gonna get rid of Oh,
you're fired too. Everything is all I did. It's a
bunch of load of crap that you think things are
happening here. Um. The reason this is big is because
now Luca dont just going to stay right. He's eligible
for the big Max extension this offseason, and you don't
want to mess with anything because at the end of

(04:04):
the year, Luka dont Witch was how unhappy was he
He didn't like the head coach. He did. He didn't
like the guy that was running basketball operations. They got
rid of Donnie Nelson, all of these things, all things
look at don doesn't like. So you got to convince
him to stay. This is the move that will convince
him to stay. He will sign, and at least the
Mavericks can say, all right, as as as bad as

(04:24):
things were, we'll stop the backsliding where locked into. Luca
is one of the big time stars of the league.
Uh you know, he's only twenty two. He's going to
be fantastic for a long time, and we planned him
being a Maverick just like Dirk Dovitski was. So that's
why that's the big news. Jason Kid, Yeah, that's great.
Oh the guy running basketball operations is a guy that
I like that. I know that. Oh yeah, okay, now
I feel good. He will resign. It was all about that,

(04:47):
even though that was the second headline to Jason Kidd,
that's the big news because now you can officially take
Luka dontch off the market of being Could he be
the next guy to say no to the to the
big max extension and ghost someplace else and make less money.
Now he's going to leave that design Williamson, who's probably
gonna do that in a couple of years. So you know,
now Luca don is gonna come back and he'll be

(05:08):
He'll be a Maverick star for while. That's the big
part of this today, Steve and Jason. How often have
we seen it, not just in basketball, that you've got
to keep the star happy? But when you mentioned his age,
that's just still outluded, laughable that he's that good, that young,
and frankly that he's been a professional this long. He
didn't just come on seen in the NBA. He was
a professional as a teenager overseas doing this type of

(05:29):
thing on the court. So yes, yet again we see
it play out this way that they have to not
just build around the star, but you have to start
with wanting him to even stay in the first place.
You mentioned Another option is, you know, we've got to
have a front office that will be attractive enough for
other guys to come here. Well, if there's no star

(05:50):
point guard in Donsich, who's gonna want to go to Dallas? Honestly,
and I don't think it's such a huge deal to
be able to build around him because Mr Nicks fan.
Don't they already have an even taller star on the Monster.
Don't they have a guy that I don't know that
he's a star, and I don't know that he's healthy,
and I don't know that he's a guy that's gonna

(06:10):
be around. I think, if if I am the uh,
if I'm the Mavericks, I'm looking to say we got
to move on from Christops porzingis He clearly isn't the
guy they thought he was. He's had trouble staying healthy,
is trouble being dominant. Uh. He and Luca don't get along,
they don't hang out together. He's you know, we had
the big story after elimination that he felt like an
afterthought in the Mavericks organization. Look, this is not all

(06:31):
good things about Luka Donche because now Luka don is
a is a coach, gm uh at front office and
co star killer. You know, so he's he's really affecting
a lot of different things. He is walking through the
blowtorch into every aspect of the Mavericks organization, which is
not great. But still you gotta keep him happy and look,
yes or no, whether or not this is the right

(06:52):
way to treat Porzingis. Porzingis is just not getting it done.
He's just not what they thought he was when they
got He's also so expensive, by far, their most a
player in Dallas that almost nobody else on the roster
is signed for the next one, two, in three years.
You really can start over if that's if that's your inclination.
It's a team that, yes, did make the playoffs, but

(07:14):
yes did see shortcomings become kind of obvious in the postseason,
putting teams away, being able to play defense, closing out games.
You're not gonna go far in the playoffs if you
don't do those things. So, yeah, you can't blow it
Blow it up is not the correct phrase, because you've
got the piece that other teams would want, but you've

(07:36):
got the piece that can build around, and you've got
the management allen place. Remember they were saying that they
weren't going to hire a coach until they hired a
GM and then yesterday we heard, Okay, Jason Kidd is
already picking people that would be on his staff potentially,
So yeah, I guess they had the Nike guy in
the bag before today. That's pretty safe, by the way
he asked. ESPN says Michael Finley, who's a vice president

(07:57):
with the MAVs, is expected to stay now. The other
hiring that happened a few minutes ago, as we mentioned,
Chauncey Billips will now be the new head coach of
the Portland Trail Blazers. The finalists were Chauncey Billips, Becky Hammond,
and Mike D'Antoni. This is not surprising, right, Chauncey Billips
and Damian Lillard have a great relationship, and you gotta
keep the star happy. He wanted Jason Kidd. Jason Kidd said, dude,

(08:20):
you can't do this. I can't take this job now.
You gotta go find somebody else. But really, this is
now becoming about Becky Hammond, who was very close now
depending how close on on what the Blazers actually we're
going to do, but she was a finalist for being
a head coach in the NBA, which would be a
story that would turn sports on its head. It would
be an incredible achievement if and when Becky Hammond becomes

(08:42):
a head coach in the NBA. Did I think it
was gonna be this one? I didn't, Because each coaching
situation is its own unique set and circumstance, and the
Blazers need to keep Damian Lillard thinking we're on the
path to be able to win something. And yeah, no
matter how you I said, hiring a woman head coach
is going to play differently in every lockerman with every

(09:06):
different team. And you're talking about a team where Damian
Lillard's thirty one years old. He doesn't have that many
years left and is he and are the other players
gonna buy into Hey, here comes a woman head coach,
which is something we've gotta get used to, and are
are we going to do? We going to do this?
That gonna be something for us. So I can understand
the Blazers in that situation saying, uh, maybe we like her,

(09:27):
but maybe Chauncey Billets is the better thing, because look,
that's clearly gonna keep Damian Lillard happy. If we say
no to Chauncey Billups that we liked and we hire
Becky Hammond. I don't know that that's gonna work. But
it doesn't matter that she didn't get this one. It's
about getting interviewed and having people comfortable with a woman
being a head coach in the NBA, and that day
is coming. I mean Becky Hammond's gonna be the first one.

(09:50):
You know. Other names that are out there, you know,
and and Carol Lawson and a bunch of different names.
But Becky Hammond has the cache, She's got everything. She's
be an assistant coach with the Spurs now for a
long time. She is very respected in the Spurs organization.
You need to put when it's something like this, it's
a revolutionary higher it's there's gonna be so much attention

(10:10):
to it. You want to make sure that she is
in the position to succeed. And you know, I put
my money on this when they hired When they hired
her as an assistant, it was a big deal. I said. Then,
I said, Greg Popovitch is gonna coach until he doesn't
want to do it anymore. And Becky Hammond's going to
be his successor in San Antonio. And that's what my
money is on happening. That's still that Popovich is gonna stay. Now,
maybe he leaves and goes to coach someplace else because

(10:33):
he realizes that I'm not gonna win here anymore. I
gotta go someplace else. But whenever he decides to step down,
either he retires or he goes someplace else. Becky Hammond's
gonna take over the Spurs head coach. I mean, this
is the entire reason this was put into play and
and why she was hired. And now it could have
jumped the timeline on it because now she's interviewing for
other jobs, which is great, right, and other women are

(10:54):
getting an interviewed for other jobs, and why not, Right,
you're gonna hire a bunch of other retreads and and
and we've been around and then they failed, and that no,
why not why not go hire a woman when the
circumstances right? In baseball, we broke through in the GM
slot with Kim and getting hurt. This these things, you're right,
they're going to happen eventually, sooner rather than later. And

(11:14):
so what you need is, let me use the example
is when Jackie Robinson joined the Dodgers. I bet people
then probably said what you just said about this female
coaching higher that's going to happen one day. It kind
of needs to work or else it's gonna set the
process back a few years. It's gonna set progress back.
And this is a glass ceiling that's going to be shattered.

(11:36):
She was a great player. In her day and is
an NBA through and through person. She's not coming from
the outside. I mean Chauncey Billips, people would say, oh, sure,
NBA through and Syria great long career, and then he
was TV analyst with the Clippers. Chauncey Billips has had
exactly one season as an assistant on the bench. It

(11:57):
gets the Portland's job, So let's not go nuts on
his coaching experience, but it is a situation that's got
to fit. It's like an NFL team and the quarterback
that they draft. How often as we've seen talented guys
not go to the right situation and wow, their career
doesn't start off well and maybe their career isn't good

(12:17):
because of where they went. Whereas guys we've seen it
getting drafted later and it winds up perfect. Just because
they got the perfect situation, doesn't matter that there were
somebody's first choice or not first choice. What Portland's is
right now is a team that is set for many
years with the backcourt long term huge contracts with Damian
Lillard and c J McCollum. They are ready to advance

(12:40):
in the playoffs. Now. They are a team that can
win on a full season and easy forty five fifty
games every year with that crew, and they just need
to get over the hump. This seems like it seems
like five years in a row they've lost in the
first round. They did have one run in him there,
but they're ready to go this yeah, And and that's

(13:03):
the thing. It's about being in a position to succeed.
And it's it's the same thing with saying, well, would
would who would be a great coach to come in here?
Like if Tom Thibodeau didn't have a gig right now,
he would have been great to come into Portland. Because
what Portland needs is it got to be able to
play some defense, because they don't. They don't at all.
They need to be able to figure that out. Certain
coaches would be better fits with certain teams, and you

(13:24):
throw everything into the mix, and that it's if they
have a system that needs to work with this, if
it's this coach is gonna make this player happy, we
have to go with that. I mean, look that that's
what you're seeing in the NBA right now, all of
these guys getting hired. Ay, we're making everybody happy. You know,
we were making our stars happy. We have guys that
come in and can do very specific things, and so
you want to be in a position to succeed. You

(13:45):
don't want to be in a position to say, well,
it's the it's the one opening that's out there and
I got it. Well, maybe that's not going to be
the one that works out for you. But where you
have the most cash and where Becky Hamman has the
most cache is in San Antonio. Now, the other women
coaches who come in, some of them have been on
benches for a while, but not nearly as long as
Becky Hammond has. And I get that it could be frustrating,

(14:07):
but just look at the point where where you're sitting
right now that hey, this could really be a big
breakthrough higher this it's going to happen at some point,
but it needs to be where it has the best
chance to succeed. And I like I, like I said
for a long time, Becky hamn't taking over the Spurs
because it's gonna be huge for all of us, right,
it will be a huge story that's followed everywhere, but
in San Antonio where the players are gonna go, oh yeah, well,

(14:30):
Jake coach has been with us for a long time
doesn't matter. She's been doing all these things with us.
She she got to coach when pop got thrown out.
You know, she coached the summer league team. As you said, Yeah, okay,
we have Everything is cool, everything is fine, and it
will be that kind of situation where they can succeed
where when she does take over, Gregg Popovich is not
going to leave a team that is going to, oh,

(14:50):
I'm gonna I won four titles. Not No, it's gonna
be where, Okay, we can work things up here, It's
not gonna be it's not gonna be. Here's a team
and it's ready to go, and if you fail with it,
it's gonna be on you. Because if Portland fails, it's
gonna be on Chauncey Built. It's not gonna be on Lillard.
It's not gonna be on nurk Its, not gonna be
on McCollum's not gonna be in anybody else. It's not
gonna be in Norm Powell, not gonna be anybody all

(15:10):
those good players. It'll be on the coach. So that's
a tough one. That's where you're in that position where
if you don't succeed right away, you fail, and that's
gonna be it for Chauncey Billups too. If he doesn't
do well and and and suddenly they're not winning it, well,
you know, Chauncey's gonna be gone. So if if the
right situation comes up, that's where you gotta say, all right,
I gotta hold out for this. And I mean it's

(15:31):
gonna unless unless somebody goes outside the box and says, Okay,
we're fine, we're doing this. We're doing this. Hey, Becky Hammond,
that would be awesome. She gets a gig with a
different team first, But I I still have my money
on taking over for the Spurs. When Greg Popovich has
done quick baseball update before we break. There only two
games still going because the Giants have just won two
nothing over the A's Dodgers lead the Cubs to one

(15:52):
in the top of the sixth and bottom of the
fifth in San Diego, Padres eight five over the Diamondbacks.
The story in baseball tonight right now out Fernando Tatis Jr.
Is three for three, three homers, four r bis. He
is not due up in the bottom of the fifth.
He just batted in the fourth, so he may not
bat again until the sixth inning. They're just beginning the

(16:13):
bottom of the fifth. Oh boy, we could have a
four home run night and it could be a four
error night as well. Right, doesn't he have three errors tonight?
To he know? He has looked recently much better on
defense than the first few weeks of the season where
it did seem like it was two or three years
per night. All right, very good, making sure, alright, So
we have more on that coming up. Hey, three home

(16:33):
runs for Fernando Tatises, Steve said, three for three, four
r b I s tonight. Uh, an incredible night for him.
That is just you know, still in the middle that
we're still we're not even halfway through the game and
he's got three home He's gonna get more than four bats.
The way things are going here, He's gonna bat two
more times at least. Oh my goodness. H eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox That Jason Smith Show with

(16:55):
Mike Carmen Steve de Sager in from Mike's tonight. Uh.
Coming up next, Hey, we have another big story out
of the NBA coming your way. And if you like
the Magic Johnson Twitter game, then oh boy, do we
have a game for you. Keep it right here. Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

(17:15):
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Oh. Number one Bucks fans, Cheryl Crow, it's
so exciting. We're gonna hear all her best of tonight.
This is on the list of top five Ryl Crow songs.
Steve Tsager, this is This is easily on that list.

(17:36):
She's a big fan of the Bucks. Is at the
game tonight because her kid loves the Bucks. Yeah, chance
to wrapper at the game and explanation is kind of
like passing the buck. Oh yes, I did see, But
listen there there's lots of things that I'm fans of
because my daughter is a fan of it. That happens
all the time. I'm okay, no, I don't know if
I'd be dressing up in the gear all the time

(17:57):
and going yeah, I don't know if that's me. But
there's things that I like because my daughter likes them. Hey,
Sally Field used to go to Laker games just for
that reason. Do you think she grew up a Laker fan?
It just happens. So people in Hollywood go because you know,
it's a place to be seen. I want to be
able to go to a Laker game. But she literally
just because her son. I think it was, Oh, I
can get your Laker floor seats. That's fine, we can go.

(18:18):
Let me just call my agent. Hang on, it's the nineties.
I can get him. It's easy. And plus it said
Saballos is the star. So I mean you really it
smell like a shack of cope or anything. Uh So, yes,
we have the big moment tonight where we're playing all
the best songs by Cheryl Crow, but a couple of
big baseball stories to get to. One that's developing right now.

(18:38):
We're gonna update you on in a second. But first,
you know, I gotta say, Steve, you know, the College
World Series is in full swing and it's awesome. Even
though I have no idea who can win it all
and who's got it. It's so it's so in depth.
I feel like every game I don't know who needs
to win and who can withstand four losses to move
on to the next more clear now in the double elimination,

(19:01):
No it's not. I don't I don't see I don't
think it's double I think it's like quadruple elimination round robin.
It's like, I don't know, Oh, this is a big
loss for Vanderbilt. Oh no, they can still Okay, it's
double inment. Okay, great, but this is a big law
Oh no, no, they can win again and move on.
This team's lot. It's not March Madness. One loss and
you're done. I get that, or even that that you're
on soccer tournament. They start the March Madness portion of
the tournament tomorrow. It's the knockout rounds they call them

(19:25):
in soccer. The winner advances, the losers done. We can
understand that. Yeah, it's like nine weeks long, like the
College World How don't even there's qualifying and there's It's
like it's like a European soccer tournament. Well, we have
pre qualifying now, then there's qualifying, then there's late qualifying, regional,
super regional. Yeah, the first stage of the tournament, then

(19:46):
there's the second stage, then the knockout stage. I mean
that's kind of what the College World Series goes on. However,
it does go on forever, and except for this year,
I guess players always wind up getting drafted before the
College World Series is even over. That's how long after
the school year it usually goes. But they're in a
rain delay tonight in Omaha. Number two ranked Texas in
the top of the ninth hit a three run homer

(20:07):
for the lead in the rain. They're up eight five
on Mississippi State and there's the top of the ninth
rain delay. And remember it was what last night that
they went deep into the night and here, oh yeah,
they started at midnight. They're taking softball's queue in the
n c a A. Texas needs to win tonight to
stay alive. Vanderbilt one today to stay alive. Oh, I

(20:30):
don't even know. Oh, well, we're very excited because we
have Jack Lighter pitching tomorrow. Umu hi, Jason Smith Fox
Sports Radio. Jack Lighter was just drafted number one and
they don't want to pitching anymore. Oh well, then we're
gonna have Camar Rocker going. Hey, Jason Smith, Fox Sports Radio.
He was just drafted number two overall and they don't
want him pitching anymore. So all right, well we're just
gonna give up. Then talk about your load management. Boy,

(20:52):
if they could sign them immediately, they would say stop pitching. Probably, Yeah,
rocker pitch today as we look towards story number too
that you referenced, the Padres, Fernando Tatisse Jr. Is due
to bat fourth in the bottom of the sixth in
San Diego. There in the top of the sixth right now,
the Padres lead eight five. The story is Tatis in
his three at bat so far has to hit three

(21:15):
home runs. He's three for three four r B I s.
It's a select group of guys in baseball history who
have hit four home runs in one game. Mike Schmidt
in his day did it. I remember Bob Horner in
a TBS game for the Braves in the nineteen eighties
hit four home runs in one game. The Dodgers had
Shawn Green do it once. It's not many people that

(21:36):
have done that. J. D. Martinez probably would have been
the last to have done that in the majors. Uh,
Mark Witten also did it. Oh yeah, big RB I
night st Louis Mark Witten. You want a great story
about Mark Witten? Okay, about how he did it? Nobody?
This is when I was a production assistant at ESPN. This.
Don't you have a production assistant story you're supposed to
share that scores. Yes, yes, I have that. I will

(21:59):
tell you later. It is a sensational story. Tell that
one later. No, this is great because what people don't
know is that Sports Center every night gets put on
the air on the backs of twenty two and twenty
three year old kids who are running around busting their
ass as hard as they can every night to make
sure everything goes and gets on the air right, Because

(22:21):
the whole thing is that if something doesn't happen, doesn't
get on the air, the producer gets mad and it
gets all the way down. Why weren't you read Why
didn't you have your assignment ready to go? So it's
year old kids are going absolutely crazy. Oh yeah, to
to to get it ready and edit the highlights to
put them on the air. It's just so many things.
So I want you to picture what this room. It's

(22:43):
a it's a room about maybe twenty yards by fifteen yards,
and there's a television set every I would say every
twelve inches there, or or every every foot and a
half there's a there's a television. Definitely the amount of
space that Philip Rivers gains on a quarterback sneak every

(23:04):
time keeping down room, the falls floor and everybody sits
in front of the television sets and they watched the
games and they record them and then they go edit
the highlights later on. Now there's nights where there's not
enough bodies because there's too many games. So this night
that Mark Whitten at four home runs, they're just so

(23:25):
happened to be um one of those nights where there
weren't a lot of people, uh scheduled to work. What
you call is we were double dipping, right, which is
where you're watching a couple of games, and sometimes you
have a game that's just watched by somebody for a
little bit of time, then somebody else takes over some right,
So the night Mark Whitten hits a home run, it
wasn't just an oh, by the way game, but you know,

(23:46):
we obviously have to roll on it and make sure
we have a couple of highlights. So the first person
was watching, I could tell the story in retrospect. The
first person is watching the game and Mark whitne it's
a home run. Someone writes down time code, Mark Whitten
home run. Right then they go, hey, you're going to
edit another bigger game, so go do what. Somebody else
will come and watch the game, somebody else comes and
sits down and they watch the game, but for about
forty five minutes. Oh, Mark whitne it's a home run. Okay,

(24:08):
second run, Mark wittname run. They write it down, and
then they then okay, you gotta go do this. Four
different people watched the game at all different times, and
so the last person right, so, okay, Mark went another
home run right there, right there, so right, so this
is it. And and if you're not watching with the
audio on or anything else, you know, this is back

(24:28):
in the nineties when when fonts weren't always on on
TV and you didn't get breaking news right away. So
the fourth person writes down Mark Whitten home run, and
then okay, they gotta go edit something else. So it
just so happened that that, you know, we're getting ready
to go on the air, and it's like right before
eleven o'clock and and uh, all of a sudden, are
our boss in the area where we're watching. He's called

(24:49):
the highlight supervisor walks by and says, hey, someone's gonna
edit this Cardinal game. And then he looks down at
the logs sheets and he sees Mark whitnome run. Mark
Witnome run, Mark whitnomb run, markret And he stands up
and he goes, hey, how many home runs is Mark Witten?
Half tonight? And and and and he's asking who watched
this game tonight? And like the four people raiser, and
did you lock it? Mark Witten? Home run? Yeah? What
about you? Yeah? Was it the same one? No? You

(25:10):
hit one in the first I got one in the fourth, one. No,
I locked the one in the sixth. And then one kid,
it just goes I just logged the one in the
eighth inning. Is that four home runs from Mark Witten?
And suddenly that's the biggest story of the night. And
we didn't even know it was happening, and nobody would
be paying attention to him because it's a to t
win in the second of a double header. And it

(25:30):
turns out one guy, you know, who's not Mike Schmidt
or Willie Mays, a guy who had about a hundred
career home runs, winds up having four homers and twelve
rbs in one game, and nobody knew. And then the
big then the big blurb hits the internet, or hits
the hits the computers. Mark Witten's fourth home run talks.

(25:51):
Oh my god, and then the producers like okay, everybody
doing the show, and the control was like, okay, we
got that. Mark Witten high like I'm with four home runs,
and we're all just like, oh wow, how to get
it done. We gotta get it edited really real. I
bet many years later without you, it was probably the
same thing when nobody was expecting Scooter Janette to hit
four home runs and that was a thirteen to one

(26:12):
game and nobody was at how that was his fourth
home run. So yeah, there are names like that on
the list, but usually it's you know, lu Garrig with
four in a game, or Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt. I
mentioned j D. Martinez did it against the Dodgers just
a few years ago. And what we have going on
in San Diego right now is a guy with a

(26:32):
fourteen year contract and just starting it. By the way,
the kid in San Diego, El Nino, has three homers.
It is first three at bats and might be getting
up in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game
is in the top of the sixth right now. Padres eight,
Arizona five. They've just ended the top of the sixth,
all right, So we'll keep you posting on that. Obviously

(26:54):
for nantaseist with a couple of chances left at baseball history.
And you know he's going to be swinging for the
fences because you know that the player he is, every
swing is gonna be everything I got for that fourth
home run. So to help celebrate that, wait a minute,
that means he's gonna throw his shoulder out and then
say that, Well that's happened two or three times already
this season. But I'm just looking down the road, okay,

(27:15):
to celebrate that possibility. Sorry there, Well, of course not
because I like the Chargers, so you know I'm not
welcome once the county line arrived. Since you're driving down
the five, man, talk about people who act like they're
they're fifteen years old and they just got jilted by
their high school girlfriend. Man, half the city in San

(27:36):
Diego is like, just get over it. It's been four
years already. For crying out loud. If you like the
Magic Johnson Twitter game, Unfortunately, Magic is on vacation right
now in Greece. He's in Corefou putting wonderful pictures on
the on the Twitter machine. We're gonna play another Twitter game.
We're gonna play the jose Canseco twitter game. Jose likes

(27:58):
to tweet a lot about Bigfoot, aliens, life on other planets,
all kinds of crazy things. So it's the same thing
as the Magic Johnson twitter game. I give you a tweet,
and you tell me if this is a jose Can
Saco tweet or one made up by me playing as myself.
Steve to Seger are special technical director Alex Tischer who
was always doing special things for us and lead the

(28:20):
lap in producing tonight. You guys ready to go? Alright,
very good, here we go. Okay, uh, here's your first tweet.
Aliens told me the meek will inherit the Earth after
the rich destroy it and colonize another planet. Is that
jose Can Saco tweet? Aliens told me the meek will
inherit the Earth after the rich destroy it and colonize

(28:43):
another planet. Okay, yeah, I'll say, yes, you think that
as I say can say a tweet. Okay, that's the standard,
that's the bar. Okay, all right, we'll see, Okay, I
believe it. Yeah, Okay, Jason, I need to know was
the word telepathy used in that tweet? There was no
word telepathy, and it were meek inherit, destroy and colonize.
That is not eight Jose tweet. Then, okay, that is

(29:08):
in fact Jose cansacho. He says aliens have told him
the meek will inherit the earth. Alright, well, it's the
aliens told him the second half of the sentence, the
whole phrase meek inherit there has existed for the Earth.
And boyd Gram is really good, isn't he? Yes, he's great.
Oh yeah, I stake a little baseball and there, sure

(29:31):
you really think there's not alien life on the moon
right now? I have proof? You really think there's not
alien life on the moon right now? I have proof?
Is that a Jose can Sacho tweet. Okay, I'll say
that's just you So no, okay, Lee, go ahead, I
need to say yeah, and I believe he does have proof, okay,

(29:53):
because he's Yeah. Probably the proof is some somebody in
a hairy car evil if the moon was made of cheese,
that is not Yeah, thanks for letting me answer, Jack.
Oh so I thought you said. I thought you need

(30:13):
a second. Sorry, buddy, Well you got you got it. Okay.
The game moves a little faster than that it's all right.
I was gonna say no, though, because you didn't mention
the dark side of the moon. So we're good. Take
me to the dark side. I'll blow your mind. There's
not just one big foot. I'll blow your mind. There's
not just one big foot. I'll say, yes, that's a

(30:33):
tweet of his Okay, if there was a big foot,
I believe there would be too. So I uh, I
say yes, was he referring to one of his feet, Jason,
Because I'll say that's true. That is not jose can say, Oh, tweets.
Not jose can say a tweet? Are UFO wants crashed

(30:53):
in my backyard? The government never came to check it out.
UFO wants crashed in my backyard. The government never came
to check it out. Double no, Okay, you sure? I
mean it could be one of it could be one
of the UFOs, the government said today. I'll go one
step further, Brian, No, look at you, I'm saying no. Sorry,

(31:17):
I'm meeting a cherry here um funny interrupt you. No, Steve,
you are on one segment in this show. You know,
sometimes you gotta get prepared for the big show. Steve,
I'm gonna say I need my cherry. Since Brian No
is on later tonight, I'm gonna say no as well.
That is not let's go Steve. You can't control Bigfoot

(31:43):
or aliens, and you can't control me either. Is that
a jose can say tweet? You can't control big footo
aliens and you can't control me either. Just general enough,
I'll say yes, I'm saying yes to Steve. Do you
want a cherry? Before I answer this no strawberry, I
would have said yes, Well, then I'm gonna go with no.
This is not a tweet. Then that is jose Yes, yes,

(32:09):
he's studying more on aliens. I'm going to live to
be at least a hundred and twenty years old, maybe
a hundred thirty. Is that a jose Canseco tweets I'm
going to live to be at least a hundred and
twenty years old, maybe a hundred and thirty, and we
might have medical evidence otherwise, Um, I'll say no. I'm
gonna say it's a tweet, but not by jose Canseco.

(32:34):
I think it exists, but in the fact, maybe maybe
Magic Johnson. No, Lee's on the right path. That was
an Alex Tisher tweet. So no, that is not That's
what I'm saying. That is not killing all right. Last one,
humans actually can breathe in space. We're told we can't

(32:54):
to discourage us from going out to discover alien life.
Humans actually lee ken breathe in space. We're told we
can't to discourage us from going out to discover alien life. Really,
Oh wow, you know, I feel like I got a
freebee here. I'll say, yes, that does meet the bar
after all, I'm saying no, or that's a tweet after

(33:16):
a bar, if you know what I mean. Or during
MM I was wondering if maybe he would talk about
the fact we can't penetrate through the atmosphere because our
bones are too dense or something like that. But but
are they really too dense? Are we just are we
just throw different boyse and density. Jason, I think he
has gills. So yes, that is a definitely achieved Yes,
that's a tweet that is not he jose Can say

(33:39):
tweets the Magic Johnson tweet. No, no no, no, I made
that one up. I completely made it up. These can
Sao Twitter game. Oh we gotta do that again. The
Jason Smith throw Mike car and Steve to Sager in
from Mike will have more on Fernando Tatis, who is
coming up very soon chance at his fourth home running.
The end of six will come up in the seventh. Oh,

(34:01):
so we got a little bit of ways to go,
so and with that in mind, coming up next, we're
gonna tell you something that well you probably know already.
Apparently the Bucks and Janice listen to the show because
what they did tonight was something we said they had
to do if they were gonna beat the Hawks and
Game two? What is it? We'll tell you next Fox.

Sin Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Harmon

(35:04):
Off tonight special delivery Steve de Seger in for Harmon.
Uh As we are eagerly awaiting the next ad mat
for Fernando Tatis, who has three home runs tonight, probably
has at least two at bats left in this game
to try to get to that magical fourth home run.
And the top of the seventh has just ended quickly,
So we're at the seventh inning stretch in San Diego

(35:25):
and the Padres have won seven games in a row.
By the way, Tatis Jr. Will lead off the bottom
of the seventh shortly. Oh, we'll keep you updated on
that again, that's just moments away. But evidence that I'm
pretty sure the Bucks in Janice listened to the show. Uh.
The Bucks just pummeled the Hawks tonight. It was a

(35:45):
forty point lead for them in the second half. They
never threatened. The Hawks never threatened after the second quarter.
And even though the offense and and what the Bucks
were able to do tonight. They shot six from most
of the game. It was an incredible night for them. Uh,
what we said they needed to do if they were
gonna win this series was they were gonna have to

(36:06):
find a way to make Trey Young uncomfortable. Right, it
seems easy, but you know it's kind of harder than that.
You can put a really good defender on him, but
Trey Young finds his way, especially the last three minutes
of Game one. Usually that's the time when Steph Curry
cannot affect the game because he can't get his threes
off and he can't and he's not a good enough
passer to get around. And this is considerably shorter than Curry. Yeah,

(36:29):
I mean it's it's it's two and a half inches
shorter that than Steph Curry. Is. They needed to be
able to lock him down. And tonight you watch Drew
Holiday figure it out to the tune of Hey, Trey
Young really struggled. Had nine turnovers in the first two
and a half quarters of this game. And this is
why suddenly, as good as the Hawks have been, I

(36:51):
worry a lot about them because it without Trey Young,
they're not winning and It's not like there's other players
where if Devin Booker isn't playing well, then this can
still have a couple other guys. No, there's one guy
that's gonna get things done, and it's Trey Young. And
if this is how it's going to be, the Hawks
may have won their last game because Drew Holiday figuring

(37:11):
out how to lock down Trey Young and have him
play this disappointingly. Uh, this is something that could see
the Bucks when the rest of their games and and
suddenly the this Hawks Buck series is gonna turn on
a dime. Trey Young is a volume score. He shoots
for his first three years in the league. But he
takes so many shots and your assist man ball in
his hand. You gotta take the ball out of his hand.

(37:34):
Twitter at, how about a fresca Mike at Swollen Dome.
Steve de Seger in for Mike tonight here on Fox
Sports Radio. Coming up next, Hey, are we gonna have
four home runs for Fernando Tatis and something big about
all the teams left in the NBA playoffs? Keep it
right here. This is Fox Sports Radio.
