(00:24):
listening to Fox Sports Radio. Go New York O, New
York O. Go New York O, New York O, Go
New York O, New York O, Go New York. We're
doing this god final hour of the it's the game
of the night, knows three hours, maybe the game of
the year. Mike Harmon, Yeah, but that happened before we

(00:45):
even started our night. Oh it doesn't matter all day
during the shows tomorrow, it's gonna be Hey, the Knicks
on back. Told to the Knicks would play well. The
Knicks are back. I think they're going to the Eastern
Conference finals. And how come you are not? Skip? Skip
hasn't been a round for like five or six years.
Where is Skip? I don't know? Where are you crazy? Tomorrow?

(01:06):
Go New York O, New York, Go, go New York O,
New York go. You hadn't tried it that one out
for a while, so I haven't done Jason A. Smith
for a while. H Yeah. The New York Knicks rally
from a twenty five point deficit, first time they rallied
from down twenty five since two thousand and six. Uh.

(01:27):
They beat the Celtics one oh weight one oh five.
How do they do it? Well? They bring it all
the way back one oh five, one oh five. Frasier's
got the ball to yet No r J. Barrett with
the ball just a couple of seconds left, And this
is how it went for the Knicks. Here we go
farst sideline, half court left, one point five agoing tie
game and one oh five to Barrett, one triple right

(01:48):
wing three for the win. Baker is gone, Git backed in,
Barrett backed it in. Had the Knicks ship won the
ball game At the buzzer, they're mopping Barrett at the table. Unbelievable,
the fans going crazy. R J. Barrett gets the in

(02:10):
bounced fire trill, let's fly at the horn and thanks
it in for the right wing and the Knicks over
the Celtics one o five at the garden and spike
Lee runs onto the floor, grabs the basketball and fires
it at Chason Tatum. He did not like it. Time
out Tatum as he chases spike Lee all around the

(02:32):
floor at Madison Square Garden. We'll be back uh Nick's
Radio Network on the call, r J. Barrett with maybe
the shot of the decade in the NBA. I don't
know that there's been a better shot in my Carmen
in ten years, maybe fifteen. I'm trying to go back
and thinking about, you know, maybe because it was a Nick.
I mean, it's the first buzzer beater they've had game

(02:54):
winning three point buzzer beater since two thousand seven against
Washington and it was Steve Francis. Yeah, it's been a
long time, Stevie franchise. It's been a long time since
we hit a three to win a game. Oh you
think it would be Steve Novak, But no, no, no,
Stevie franchise. Look now, I'm gonna say this about the
NBA just before we get into Baker Mayfield. Is that

(03:17):
and look and and and we've talked about this week
and look, you know, listening to the show, we've told
you the NBA. If you start out good, You're gonna
be good. If you start out really bad, you're gonna
be bad. Right. The Bulls are and ten at the
top of the Eastern Conference. They started out good, They're
gonna be good, Alright. The Phoenix Suns and Golden State
Warriors aren't gonna hit the skids. You know, they're gonna

(03:39):
be at the top of the West. This is just
how it goes. That Jazz are gonna be at the top.
That you don't learn that much about the NBA, won't
you get outside of game thirty thirty five. It's why
you could cut a lot of games. But that being said,
if I'm gonna give you two teams that can potentially
be the Atlanta Hawks of this year. Remember last year
I told you the Hawks going to the Eastern Conference

(04:00):
finals and they were there. Uh. The Hawks weren't a
great team in the regular season. Uh, you know, the
dint win fifty games and show hey we're here, we're
a power. But they got it together enough at the
end of the season to be a problem in the playoffs.
And if I give you one team from each conference
that is sitting around five hundred right now, that can
be that team. I'm gonna give you the Knicks in

(04:23):
the East because they have the personnel. It's just been
incredibly difficult figuring out what the right combination is and
and it's it looks you lose a couple of guys
you don't play defense as well. Julius Randall is not
last year's Julius Randall. But I can see signs of
the Knicks figuring out. And certainly Tom Thibodeau is a
great coach, and they they were much better than anybody

(04:45):
thought they'd be last year. They're a team I can
see finishing middle of the pack and suddenly being a
problem in the playoffs. The other team I'm gonna give
you is the Nuggets. I can see the Nuggets being
a team right now. They're five hundred. They've been struggling,
they had a problem with consistency. But I can see
them being that team in the playoffs, middle of the pack,
and suddenly they're pulling upset or two and you think, Okay,

(05:06):
the era of the Nuggets is still here. They just
underachieved during the regular season. I'll give you the Knicks
in the East and the Nuggets in the West. I
will say this just to bring the Nuggets up for
a moment yesterday they were the uh the sacrifice in
Dirk Nawinski celebration night. But as ty Shirt and I noted,
at one point we celebrated together the several minutes that

(05:29):
we got a Bowl Bowl in that game, two or
three from the field runner into the lane that he
that he made finish with five points plus three on
the night. I I do like that that that's pretty good.
What what I'm curious is you know all the rumor, conjecture,
speculation that flows out of this right Boston, you got
teammates calling out heart lack of heart after giving up. Uh,

(05:52):
the twenty five point lead to the Knicks right there
one in two D twenty nine or something when down
to five before tonight. So good on R. J. Barrett
and company to get it done and Evan Fournier with
that huge night. But for Boston, did they shuffle it
up right now behind the Knicks and the standings and
this one after that shot went in? Uh, if you

(06:14):
just hit the pause, it's like the Choo Choo Choose
You episode of The Simpsons where you can see the
heartbreak because you couldn't have defended that anymore Jayson Tatum
came up with a big shot right to tie, they
get they get to alright, final seconds, great and then boom,
there's our j Barrett. He ripped your heart out, as

(06:36):
the late Steve Irwin used to say as well, so
we'll get no uh leaving no pop culture uh stone unturned.
But for Boston, do they make a move and shuffle
up and deal whether it's Jalen Brown or some other
principal and and try to re reform things because you know,
one of the things coming out of the game was also, well,
I really like watching Jayson Tatum play dot dot dot.

(06:58):
Remember he's only twenty three, so trying to figure out
how to get the maximum for what he is. Therefore
and six their last ten. So maybe they shuffle up
in deal Toronto sitting at eighteen and seventeen, they're they're
a curiosity, uh in the Eastern Conference and then with
the West there there's just so much of you know,

(07:19):
his Portland's at fourteen and twenty three, McCollum and or
Lillard destined to go find themselves into another spot. You
know what's Ben Simmons this year? Right there? There's so
many moving parts the Clippers. There's a report that Kawhi
Leonard might be ahead of schedule, and and that doesn't
mean a whole lot in the moment, but you're you're

(07:40):
looking at the Clippers are in the eight seed, three
and seven their last ten, but they're only a game
under five hundred, so they're in the hunt. And if
suddenly they start getting some of their principles back, maybe
they're a second half surge team, you know, hang around
whether the storm and all of a sudden, get her
healthy for the stretch run. Uh. And so that that's

(08:01):
those Those are a couple of teams that I'm kind
of watching just to see how the dominoes start to fall,
because I do think we will see activity ahead of
the trade deadline with some of these big names. Oh,
it's gonna be big, because teams are gonna say, why
not us, right, do we really believe that the Warriors
are that unbeatable, that the Sons are that unbeatable, that
the bull that oh no, no, let's let's let's do it.
Let's do it. You're gonna see teams have to retool

(08:22):
the deadline because they understand now that we can't just
wait till the off season for free agency. Can't do it,
can't wait for the off season a free agency. We
just can't do it because it's it's an unknown quantity.
We we think we're gonna get guys, but what if
we don't, You go get guys in the middle of
the season when it mix doesn't work, you're gonna make trade.
That's how it's gonna go. Well, that's just it though,
right when, especially if you've got a nucleus and and

(08:44):
you've got a pretty good squad, a good you know
that that term that we throw around all the time,
culture and a coaching staff that you know that you
think you'd be able to integrate players in easily, uh,
and make it and make that push. It's like you
gotta man maximized because guys, even if they're in a
pretty decent spot, as soon as that contracts starting to

(09:06):
come up, you know, the winds of change or swift
and then the NBA and guys may decide, you know what,
I want to go play here. I've got an opportunity
to go play with an old college teammate or or
this guy has been courting me at different events and
All Star games, and it might be fun to play
over there, and maybe you have that opportunity. You know,
as much as folks get mad about front offices and collusion,

(09:30):
don't tell me these guys aren't texting each other. When's
your contract up? Who's your guy? What's the what's the situation?
I mean that's all over the league, there's no question
of that. So, uh, that's gonna help dictate things, which
means you've got to make your push when you can.
And so I expect the next month to be pretty crazy.
Gives us plenty of news while baseball, you know, it

(09:51):
has just tumble weeds. That's okay. Hey, look, I just
like the fact you dropped the Scorpions wins of change
line in there. I mean you were making a great point. No,
I'm thinking of a the whistling in my Oh, that's
pretty good, you know it? There you go, there you go. Alright,
let's see if let's see if let's see if ty
Shirt can find that the next couple of minutes. Uh

(10:12):
that Jason Smith throwing Mike Carmon live from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Now coming up next, we're gonna do
something a little bit different here on the show, because
the last few nights has been dominated by four players. Really,
the last week and a half have been dominated by
four players. We've had the on again, off again Aaron
Rodgers drama, which again rears its head with the is

(10:33):
I'm not voting for him, he's a jerk, that guy's
a bum. Uh. Everything going on with Baker Mayfield? Who
said that, don't believe the puppets. Mary Kay Cabot of
Cleveland dot Com had the story last night that Mayfield
complained about his role in the offense and might want
to seek a trade this offseason. It's been so much
Baker Mayfield is not a good quarterback. My goodness, I

(10:54):
got Baker Mayfield fatigue. I got Kyrie Irving fatigue. And
it was only one night. The guy was back backets. Okay,
he's back, but boy, his story. Is this really going
to be something that everybody's going to be excited about
the same way they used to be excited about And
you know, I had another thought on that too though,
with Kyrie, just really quick the idea with him of

(11:16):
there isn't the same anger and vitriol because folks that
you know at the time, it was very much a
well why aren't you getting vaccinated? And look what this
and the belief was that if you were vaccinated, boosted, whatever,
that you couldn't get it. Slash spread it. Well, people
that have been doing best practices and doing all they can.

(11:37):
As we've seen, the spread continues. So I don't think
it comes at it with the same energy and same negativity.
I think there's there's a different, different shift of focus,
and now it's a how do we keep stuff open
that's been back certainly, I mean, I know for for
my girls and being back in school, that's one of
the main concerns. I'm like, all right, how do we

(11:58):
keep from having to go back to all virtual which
left so many kids behind. So the energy is different.
And so for Kyrie, you know, it's it's not the
same stigma. I don't believe that it was at one point. Yeah,
because I agree with that, and I also I also
look at it as it's kind of been the same
thing with him. Here's another reason why he's not playing,
why he's away from the team. And you know, we've

(12:20):
seen a lot of it, and you don't know until
a guy comes back how you're gonna feel about it. Okay,
Kyrie is back. Okay, Kyrie is back. Yeah, I don't
have the same urge the same to talk about Kyrie
like I used to, and the same thing with Antonio Brown.
We're we're getting fatigued on a B who once again,
you know, blowtorches his way through another team, albeit in

(12:41):
a way we had never seen before. Guy quit on
the field and go off. But still it's a B
doing something else crazy that has put his NFL career
in jeopardy. So with that in mind, coming up next,
if we have fatigue and I'm fatigued and Harmon's fatigued
about those four players, what four players should we be
talking way more about? Because they deserve it because of

(13:04):
their play on the field, because they're compelling and they're
great stories, and their guys who can carry the conversation,
very very excited about it. I see what you did
their type. Shoot, What four players should we be talking
about more? If we're taking these guys out of the mix,
what four players should we be talking about more? That's
coming up next right here, Fox John's Names. Be sure

(13:25):
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and The I heart radio app
Fox Sports Radio, the Jason Smith Show with my bass
friend Mike Harmen. So never never get that one right

(13:47):
when it's still a surprise every time. Yeah, uh, Happy Thursday,
early Friday. Tomorrow is gonna be our big anniversary shows.
Mike Harmon I celebrate eight years together on the air
here at Fox Sports Radio. The reason we didn't do
it tonight, I thought it was tomorrow. Harmon says it
was tonight, So we're gonna do it tomorrow because I

(14:08):
had something every Yeah, it's an all night ranger. We
can we we can blend the two. So it's fine.
But eight years. Happy anniversary, buddy, Yeah, buddy, I'm gonna
drink a giant glass of glug and see how that
gets me by our four You have one right now?
Just started? Oh no, okay, okay. Now. A few minutes
ago we talked about we're gonna talk to Mike Woodson,

(14:30):
head coach the Indiana Hoosiers pulled a big upset tonight
over the Ohio State. Buck Eye is gonna join us
at about ten minutes or so, my former Nick's head coach.
I can't wait to talk to Mike Woodson. But we
talked about the players that I feel fatigued talking about
Baker Mayfield. It's the same conversation sometimes I've fatigued about

(14:52):
Aaron Rodgers. Is the same conversation. Antonio Brown, it always
is the same conversation with him. Kyrie Irving is a
aime conversation. So if I'm feeling kind of done and
fatigued on these guys because the conversations are, they're difficult,
you know to have. You Look, Mayfield is not very good,
Antonio Brown is ruined his career, Aaron Rodgers is is difficult,

(15:15):
Kyrie Irving can be difficult to have those conversations. Who
are four players who deserve to be talked about more? Right?
If we're if we're moving on from these four because
we're fatigued on him, Who are the four players we
should all be talking about more who deserve it because
of how they play on the field. All Right? So
I got four guys here, one of them at Mike

(15:36):
Harman really really happy. But here's a hit. It's not
Rex Grossman um the SuperSoul appearance, super Bowl team leading. Uh.
The first guy I'm gonna give you that we need
to be talking about more is Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow
has been exactly the guy we told you he was
gonna beat. Look two months ago we said, look, I

(15:57):
get that if you were a little skeptical of him
last year he didn't play that much. But this guy
is the real bleeping thing. The era of good feeling
for Cincinnati is here, and it's because of him. He
is absolutely fantastic. You want to talking about a guy
that might deserve some m v P votes, He's a
guy that could be sneaking in at the end because
he's having almost as good a season as Brady and Rogers.

(16:18):
But this is the Bengals have turned back into a
team that Hey, they're good and they're gonna be good
for a decade and it's all because of Joe Burrow.
Saw a clip posted on the Fox Sports RADIOC County
uh long argument that Colin Coward made on the Herd.
Uh for Burrow over Aaron Rodgers send him passioned plea
for folks to kind of revisit things right now. Uh,

(16:40):
Rogers the heavy favorite to win the award over Brady,
uh and not has his way? Well, you know him,
He's one guy. Uh And I don't think spelling out
jerk repeatedly gets any more weight to that ballot. But
you know he became public enemy number one. Uh, and
that's fine. And and look, if we were doing a movie, Uh,

(17:03):
you made Aaron Rodgers more sympathetic to some because he
got to come back and call him an absolute bumm. Like,
just print a shirt that says absolute bum and wear
it around and then give a dollar to people that
recognize what the hellet references. You got, Burrow, I you know,
I just get this on Twitter from UM at mL times,

(17:25):
and I'm gonna agree with him. He says, well, what
about Derek Carr keeping this team together? He hasn't been
spectacular all the way through, but you're looking at the effort,
and he's in that big matchup against the Chargers on
Sunday Night football, looking at an overall mark of twenty
one touchdowns, fourteen interceptions, nearly seventy completion rate as we've

(17:48):
come to expect, write a high completion rate for him
overall for those that love the old rating, he's at
ninety four point three over passing yards. But the bigger
deal is that that team could have gone on the
hell repeatedly, So I gotta give him a little bit
of love even though he's blocked I think everybody, or
at least his brother does on Twitter, and I mean

(18:08):
not he's blocked you just for this conversation saying good
things about him. Even I'm just trying to show some
love because I mean there's a lot of points the
last couple of years of should they move on? Is
he a Gruden guy? Will they get along? Well, it
didn't matter. He's still there. Gruden's gone, and what he
did was galvanize this squad. He said he's got afraid

(18:29):
to to poke the proverbial bear looking at you, Bosa.
Uh in terms of their matchups and everything else. So, uh,
fun theater for Sunday Night, And I gotta give credit
where credits do. This guy has had a hell of
a year keeping this squad together. Well, my next guy
is actually playing in that game, because that's my favorite
part of the Sunday of the game of the week, Uh,

(18:50):
the Chargers and the Raiders, because someone's gonna flip that
narrative of this team underachieved and can't win the clutch, Right,
Someone's gonna flip that narrative and win a game and
go to the playoff us. And the guy we should
be talking about way more than we do is Justin Herbert.
Right for all the fawning over mac Jones, He's gonna
throw twenty touchdowns. Herbert has had a better first two
seasons in the NFL is just about anybody in the

(19:12):
league's history. But he plays for the number two team
in l A And it's difficult, but we should be
talking about him way more because of what he's been
able to do. He came out without any prep and
he has hit the ground running and he has not
slowed down. We should be talking more about Justin Herbert.
Oh why I like that? Obviously? Uh, we celebrated all
and and Frostburg said he was gonna send like electronic

(19:36):
pulses to your phone. Uh, if you you didn't get
excited about that. But obviously Superman may may return, right
Derrick Henry returning to practice? What about the fact that
you've got Ryan Tannehill, who has not been a world
beater to say the least in terms of statistics, but
winners of three of four. All of a sudden, they're
eleven and five, still playing meaningful football here in week eighteen.

(20:00):
But DeVante uh foreman guy that comes out of the pack,
and all of a sudden, the run game is still
working in Tennessee and you're going, wait what, no matter
who's running the football, and there it goes. So you know,
credit to the coaching staff, but but certainly make it
plays defense doing it. So let's let's talk about them

(20:21):
a little bit more as we get into the playoffs.
But wait a minute, I thought Derrick Henry is playing
for the Raiders this week. I thought I saw that
on that tonight. Yeah, look where everybody has that moment. Now, Normally,
when you've got producers in your ear and whatever, they'll
they'll give you the quick correction so you don't get
the double down on it. But unfortunately for Diana, a tough,

(20:45):
a tough moment and uh and I wish her well
because she certainly got obliterated, uh for a slip of
the tongue right, a brain freeze and and unfortunately that
that will stay with her a while. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason's Mid Show with Mike
Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. He's
my Carmen, I'm Dan Buyer. Do we have a brand

(21:07):
new fantasy football podcast called I Want Your Flex. Twice
a week every Tuesday and Friday, we come up with
new episodes to not only look back at what happened,
what you need to do at that minute, and also
look ahead of what's coming up in the fantasy football world.
That's right, Dan. Every week we're gonna scour the waiver
wire to find the pickups to turbo boost your fantasy

(21:29):
lineup six starts, fantasy football players rankings to get you
ready to dominate the competition. Listen to I Want Your
Flex with Mike Carmen and me Dan Buyer on the
I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast and wherever you get
your podcasts. The third guy we should be talking about
him way more is Jalen Hurts. Right, the Eagles refused him,

(21:50):
they refused to believe in the guy that kept him
at arms Lengthen all he's done is do everything for
the offense, everybody, and they're going to the bleeping playoffs.
The Eagles have nobody who is talented at all on
that team and they are going to Austin Scott is
not late night sports radio talk show. Just stop, man,

(22:14):
Jalen Hurts. Look, I told you're gonna be a top
five fantasy quarterback. He finished in the top ten. That's
okay because he won way more games that I thought
he was going to. How thought the Eagles win four
games this year? Here they are at nine. They could
win tending, could beat Dallas Sunday, and they're going to
the playoffs. Jalen Hurts is terrific, and the Eagles have
their guy, and they got him on a rookie deal.

(22:34):
Not only that, they got him on a great rookie
deal because it's a second round contract. Jalen Hurts is
the real thing. Man. We should be talking about him more. No,
I did what you said, because I certainly the conversation
is there. All right, all right, what do you do
with this team going forward? Because there's still some as
we're finishing and they're going to the playoffs, I'm not sure.
It's like, how about you find him another receiver? How

(22:56):
about you let him grow with Goddard and Navante Smith
a little bit more? And obviously that run game. Once
you committed to that and said, all right, our identity
is be a top ten scoring defense. Because they were
uh tied for eighth at like twenty point nine points
per game allowed. But you look at between Scott and Howard, right,

(23:19):
Jordan Howard remember him from back in the day with
the Bears and and such. And then Miles Sanders went
healthy and then hurts himself making some plays with his life.
I mean, it's it's a great story. And now Nick Sirianni,
who you know long ago was like he was a
guy like Joe Judge and others. Dan Campbell where they're
saying stuff in press conference of going I don't know,

(23:40):
I don't know this is gonna work. This is really
kind of odd and and out of sorts. Well, they
bought in and now now their playoff found just like
you know, the fighting Campbell's kept playing hard. You're you're
looking at the Eagles going to the playoffs, and hey,
you run the football, play some good defense, good things
can happen. The last guy I'm gonna give you because

(24:01):
we're gonna get to Mike Woson coming up in a couple.
It's gonna make you very happy. We should be talking
more about DeMar De Rosen slash the bulls. Okay, as
I know that I know was over the holidays that
he started winning every single game with the last second jumper,
but he's turned into an m VP candidate at thirty two.
It's not just Zach Levine and the Bulls are legit

(24:21):
there at the top of the East. And when when
a team like the Bulls is this good, they should
be a bigger part of the conversation with the Jordan's
legacy and moving on. Is the first time the Bulls
have been really really good in a long time. And
we should be talking about DeMar De rosen Moore because
he's a guy winning games in the top of the
league and scoring. I don't know why we're not, but

(24:42):
we should. Well, you got him and Levin both in
the top ten. Uh. And you know from all the
reports in Chicago and sampling Chicago radio in between the
will they won't they win? They are they going to
fire Naggy and pace Bears talk? Is the idea just
of this Bulls team that it's not a right what's next?
Which has been the case pretty much every year except

(25:04):
the Derrick Rose m v P year since Jordan's retired
and went away and eventually became a wizard. Uh And
I mean that words at this point, but but the
idea that you know, it was always all right next,
all right, this isn't working. So by mid season it
was all right, which guys are staying, which guys are going,

(25:25):
Let's celebrate Joachim Noah because he plays hard. Right, that
was it. And now you got a team. These guys,
they like each other, They travel to each other's ceremonies,
talked about the jersey retirement and champagne uh that, DeRozan said, yeah,
I'm going, I'm sporting my guy and went and did that.
And and they're they're around each other, and they're guys

(25:47):
that are on their second third team, uh second third,
fourth teams and trying to come together and realize that
that promise that that was led by DeRose and and
and Lonzo Ball. So I mean it's kind of a
big deal. Nobody pouted, nobody cried about, you know, the
way Billy Donovan wanted to run things. And you've got

(26:09):
a team that's that's likable in Chicago and making some noise,
but still the front office saying we like what we have,
but hey, the phone still works, so if something comes up,
we'll we'll certainly consider. I would say in the West,
