(00:24):
listening to Fox Sports Radio. I hate that song. Greetings
and welcome inside our two of The Jason Smith Show
with my bast friend Mike Harmon. Hobot from the Fox
Sports Radio Studios. Uh. You know, just really quick on
on the Major League Baseball situation again that we finished
(00:46):
last hour before a year to Lebron and the Lakers.
You know the story today that Baseball has has said
that if there's no labor agreement in place by Monday
the twenty eight, they're gonna start canceling regular season games.
They're not gonna make them up. They are now simply
going to go away. No salary will be paid. All
of these things Major League Baseball. It's it's not twenty
(01:07):
years ago where we lived and died with labor negotiations, right.
I just remember how big a deal it was when
Major League Baseball could have been going on strike, and
the nightly story it was, what's happening here? Look at
this is what the head of the union says, that
we could be missing games and we could be too
(01:28):
and it was life or death. We gotta play baseball?
Why we gotta play? And look, and this is still
in the age when the NFL is king, when the
NBA is caught up to Major League Baseball. So it's
not like, well, just when baseball is more popular, no,
non't know, the NFL was still the king. NBA had
caught up. There was you know, baseball was firmly entrenched
the number three sport and and it but it was
(01:48):
still something that, oh my goodness, we cared so much
about it. We don't anymore. And and if if baseball
is gonna try to play this thing through the media,
they're gonna find that that is just not gonna help
them because fans just simply don't care. They don't care anymore.
Any sport can go away for a while and fans
wouldn't care. Even the NFL could go away for a
little while. They know, well, we're gonna play at some
point what are gonna do on Sunday. I'll do something else.
(02:10):
I got college football on Saturday. I'm gonna go to
a party on Sunday. We can talk about it because
I know it's coming back. I can talk about what
Patrick Mahomes is gonna be like for my Chiefs when
we finally come back. Play can talk about what Zack
Wilson's gonna do when he finally comes back. And oh, look,
they're not gonna make up that game against the Patriots,
so that's a big game he missed. We had to
open up against a lesser team. It doesn't matter. And
(02:32):
anything that goes away, we have found that we can
live without it in the last couple of years. And
and because that's what that's a a bit of I
would say intestinal fortitude that maybe we didn't know we
had that that certain things that we thought, well, we
can't lose this, we had no, no, no, you can
you can lose that. It's absolutely okay. And here's major
League Baseball again with a situation just like we were
(02:53):
in into a couple of years ago. Oh can we
get back? Can we play the end of the season?
Can we not? If baseball didn't play the end of
the season, and and and come back after after COVID
with all of those situations and had a labor situation.
If they didn't play, people wouldn't have cared, and it
was great. Look, look, you and me are biggest baseball
fans on Fox Sports Radio, right I I I, I
don't think that's a hot take. And and I really,
(03:16):
if they don't play, I don't care. They'll play eventually,
they'll play at some point, even the thirty games season,
they'll play. And that's what I'll pay attention. Really, I
can get by without it. I'll be all right. And
most fans feel the same way as much as they are,
as much as they want to take their kids to
games or go to games and eat hot dogs and
nachos and get a big helmet full of nachos like
you do a daughter stading, which, oh my god, is
(03:37):
still my favorite thing in the world. Now you're firing
out how you want the food to come back? But
I can go get nacho somewhere else if I want to.
I can. I can. I can put them in a
big helmet. I can take I can take one of
my daughter's batting helmets from softball. If I want to.
And I can just put nachos in it and put
cheese in and neat out of it if I can
find a way around it. And if baseball this headline
(03:57):
today that gets out, we're gonna start canceling games. Oh,
just figure it out between yourselves. I don't care, IDAKA,
this is between you and the players. This is you
and the players fans. We just don't care anymore. Yeah,
I think I think there's some level of concern, right,
particularly if you're in those markets where you know your
stars are you know, your tick tick tick tick tick
(04:17):
before they're gone or up for free agency, or all
of those your smaller market team. All right, here's our window.
We need to get after it. Well, it just means
now you have a shorter season, but you wanna be
able to uh celebrate each and every one of those
at bats or or starts as you can. Um to
the larger point. Yeah, there, there's so much more that
(04:39):
we we've we still love baseball as a part of
the fabric of our our sports and cultural experience. But
that fabric I think has gotten bigger, right as the
world's gotten smaller through all the different ways people communicate,
how all the bonding that goes on even watching people
sit around and play video games on Twitch and whatever.
(05:00):
I don't understand it. It's beyond me. But it's also
the you know, I got panda hands much like yours,
So trying to have the dexterity to play current video games, uh,
really failure for me. But it's that's just that we
find other things that have now come into the culture
(05:20):
and into how we we spend an occupy. Our time
in baseball is still a very huge part, and it's
you know, the the early love of sport, especially when
you had your straight a's or or perfect attendance and
all of a sudden you were getting a bunch of
tickets from the teams to come out right get you
in the ballpark, figuring you're then gonna get the nacho helmet.
(05:40):
You're then gonna get some hot dogs and everything else.
But like, that's that's what we did, and we all
fell in love with the game at different points in
our lives. You know, it's an ebb and flow. For me,
you happen to have an experience where you know, we
we had a little bit of a work separation years ago,
and it's like, right, I got idle, idle hands and time.
(06:02):
What did I do? I went? I went and watched
a bunch of games at the Oakland Alameda County Stadium.
And to do that you have to love baseball, because
that's a whole Even Billy Bean wouldn't watch. I don't
watch the games. I don't know even Billy Bean wouldn't
go up to but I mean that play, well, he
was still working out in the facility. I'm just talking
about going to that facility. Was it was a giant
(06:23):
I mean, look, in Minnesota, was a literal trash bag. Uh.
In in Oakland, they probably should have put that stadium
in one. But it's tough to get people excited because
you know, it's the multimillionaires and billionaires fighting, and that's
gonna lose people really fast. Uh, it's you know, be
smart and figure it out. You're you're wasting so much
(06:44):
time money and and why don't you want into my
wallet by having your delays. That's the thing that people
will never understand. You know, you're delayed delaying my enjoyment,
but more my ability to give you my credit card
information to charge me what you need to for all
of these you know, game tickets, parking, and akutremant, So
(07:05):
what are you doing? How silly is this to keep
that revenue from flowing? So, yeah, it's a fake. It
stays in the background outside of a couple of colorful
notes about the owners and how they spend their money.

(07:48):
more clarity in the last twenty four hours. He and
the Lakers now at odds over not making the team
better at the trade deadline. Uh. There were reports that
it's like the beginning of a war war with the
Lakers the Athletic Reporter that's kind of where Lebron is
right now. But then again, it's always been that way.
He's always been at arms length from the Lakers. And
(08:08):
I'll tell you two things. He's not gonna win a
war with the Lakers, and he's gonna leave Los Angeles
a villain. Even though he won a championship in twenty twenty,
He's gonna leave a villain. He's gonna be the guy
that fans are gonna say, you showed up. We didn't
know if we liked you or not, and you kind
of kept us at arms length, and we weren't sure
you want a title. Okay, and now you ruin the
(08:29):
team and you trade. We traded for guys that aren't
helping us, and now our team is a mess. And
now you're gonna leave for Cleveland. That's what you're gonna
do to us. Really, that that that's how, because that's
how it's gonna end. That's how it's gonna end for
the Lakers and Lebron James here, he's just gonna leave
with the team in ruins. And because of that, he's
gonna that's gonna that's gonna blow away and and and
(08:49):
overcome the title that he won in twenty Now, yes
it was in the bubble, it wasn't your standard, every
fans going to Staples for games and you're seeing per
aids at the end. But it was still was a championship,
and it was probably the most difficult championship to win
because the one thing you play for is you play
for home court advantage, and when you're playing lower seeds
(09:10):
on a neutral court, guess what the big thing you
play for? All he's in his gone so to have
to win that title, you earn that title. Man, that
was that was something for the Lakers to win that.
But it doesn't matter because Lebron's gonna leave a villain,
because he's gonna leave the Lakers an absolute mess and
he's overplayed his hand if he thinks that he's gonna
win this battle with l A. You know, he comes
(09:31):
in and it was I'm coming to l A. I
will come save you because you have not been able
to do anything the last few years and get stuff right.
All right, I'm coming in and now slowly Clutch Sports
is gonna kind of take over or to get my
tentacles in on the Laker organization and we're gonna be
the one to start making decisions. And then the Bus family,
which is the biggest mom and Pop company. Uh that
(09:52):
that we've seen in sports is saying, oh, wait a minute,
this is our team, and Jenny Busts is standing up
and saying, this is my team, and I have my
own extended family. Year it maybe Linda Rambis and Kurt Rambis,
but hang on a second. We want to do things
our way, and Rob Polinka is our GM. And they
have been at odds of this for the last couple
of years, and Lebron pushed to say, let's go get
(10:12):
Russell Westbrook. Russell Westbrook didn't work out, and now Lebron
is gonna leave. They're never going to listen to him again.
All right, He's not going to get to call the
shots with the Lakers again. There's gonna be no we're
bringing this guy in for Lebron again. Why do you
think the Lakers didn't make the move for John Walt
the deadline? They could have done it right at the end.
(10:33):
The report was it could have been John Walf of
Russell Westbrook, which Lebron supposedly wanted. And it wasn't even
a first round pick that had to change hands between
the Lakers and the Rockets. It was just we will
swap picks. In the next time the Lakers can change
trade a first round pick, which is five years and
the Lakers still said they won't do it. Why aren't
they doing it because they're not gonna let Lebron dictate
(10:53):
what they do. So as much as Lebron tried. Since
like a soap opera, a nighttime soap proper, Lebron comes
in with his people, tries to take over the Lakers.
The Lakers fight back, and here's Janie busting everybody around her.
She's got all the loyal people. Even Magic Johnson, who
left is still doing things within for the Lakers, which
doesn't make any sense. His relationship is so weird. But
(11:13):
he thought he was gonna come in and take over
and you're gonna do everything my way. Now that they're
not doing it his way, he's just gonna leave and
and he's gonna leave a villain and he's gonna leave,
and Laker fans are gonna say, glad he's gone. Go
back to Cleveland, Go stay there, try to figure out
the rest of your career and go play with Brawny.
He overplayed his hand and the fact that he wanted
trades that aren't happening. I mean you're seeing. That's the
(11:37):
reason why is because the Lakers have decided, we're not
doing what he wants. If Lebron James wanted Frank Vogel fired,
they're not firing Fight Vogel. They're not firing Rob Polinka,
which is now going to be the big battle between
Lebron and the Lakers. Well, Rob Polinka, he's the guy
that Lebron is mad at. You think they're gonna fire
Rob Polinka, helln' know, they'll give him an extension before
they fire him, because they're not gonna do what Lebron
(11:58):
says anymore, because they've had it with his act and
they've had it with him trying to move in and
call all the shots, and now it's uncomfortable. And now
that the Lakers aren't playing well and the people they
went out to get aren't helping, this is Lebron saying, Okay,
I'm looking for the exit lane and I'm gonna leave,
and trust me, he's gonna leave a villain. Yeah, it's
the curiosity of all of it. Right, go back in
the timeline to the bringing Lebron James in when they
(12:22):
did right, it was all right, we're at the mercy
of because we need to get back into the playoffs.
We need we need some juice. We need to get
this thing restarted. So these young guys, yeah, there might
still be potentials, but right now they're they're not at
that level. So ship them all out, and they did.
And then when it came to Anthony Davis, you shipped
out a lot. And I heard a lot of belly
(12:43):
aching over the last forty eight hours through this entire
All Star break. How every time Anthony Davis gets hurt?
Did we overpay? It's like you got your title. You
can't relitigate it now. You paid. The price you did
doesn't affect you for future Uh decisions? Absolutely, were you
bidding it yourself? We argued about it for forever here
(13:04):
on Fox Sports Radio and and kept banging the table saying,
why are you bidding against yourself? But but they did. Uh,
And so that's done. So anybody's saying, hey, now it's
time to trade a D. What the hell are you
getting for a D? A guy that can't play but
forty games a year at this point. Yeah, he's really
good when he's when he's healthy, dot dot dot when
(13:25):
he's healthy. For the Lebron James. It's just the curiosity
of a machiavellian play, right, trying to get your power
play in in motion, trying to get in at the
seams of an organization and thinking that you could start
to rest control and for Rich Paul in the NBA,
overall growing control. But you know, I think you know,
(13:47):
if you're a Laker fan, you're you're heartened by this report. Now,
Rich Paul reached out to Stephen A. Smith to say
this was categorically untrue. And I've argued all along in
you and I have thought about this a bit. John
Wall hasn't played a whole lot of basketball the last
three years, so I don't really know what he's bringing
to the table. If you he's just not Russell Westbrook.
And I guess if that makes you happy, that makes
you happy. But it's I don't know who I am.
(14:10):
I'm not that you know what I mean, Like, like,
but what I heard about that trade repeatedly, and we've
talked about it, like, why would you suddenly think this
guy's the Savior's just it's just like a different guy
uniform on a guy. It's politicians who want to run
and say what what's what's your platform. I don't care,
but I'm not that guy, and that's an effective strategy oftentimes.
(14:32):
I'm not gonna lie, and I mean that can work.
But you know, to this point, you know it's really
just a Rich Paul and other agents in terms of
future negotiations and acquiring or retaining top talent. Uh, there's
a long play to be had there that the Lakers
have to be cognizant of. But as for Lebron James,
(14:53):
you got one more year left on the deal. I
don't know what the terms are in terms of a
limited or full no trade trade clause to it. But
he's the guy like you want out. Let's let's work
it out. Do the Matthew Stafford. Let's work out a
deal and send you away Twitter, And how about a

to be in a movie. Yeah he is. Eighty for
Brady story about a bunch of fans. I'm as big
as fans who want to come see him play and
take a road trip to go see him play in
(16:43):
Super Bowl fifty one, the one where he had the
big comeback against the Atlanta Falcons. We had heard that
this was a possibility, but it gets announced earlier today.
And what really shocks me the most is the the
caliber of actresses that are doing this movie. Yeah, buddy,
you know what you hear? Like, hey, you know Tom
(17:04):
Brady is gonna be a movie? Okay, Like you look
at Kurt Warner's life and all right, did Zachary Levi
is playing Kurt Warner? Okay, people, Zachary Levi alone? No, no,
now s fantastic Entangled it's been and at last see
they still can't get my nose right. Brady's going to
play himself. He's producing the movie, and the movie's gonna
(17:27):
star Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field.
Don't forget John Stamos. And John Stamos is in it too. Yes,
he's the He's the one that that that sets the
schedule for all of it. No, well, I mean we
all hope that that's the case. I mean an appearance
by Stamos would be captivating on so many levels. Okay,
just to let you Stamos is not in it as
(17:49):
of now. He's not attached. Doesn't mean he can't be.
He's gonna be at that. But these are some of
the biggest heavyweights in the history of film. I mean, look, granted,
you know, you have your time as a star in
Hollywood and then you you become a star emeritus, and
these are stars emeritus. I mean some of the biggest
stars in the world. Sally Field and Jane Fonda and
(18:09):
Lily Tomlin and Rita Moreno. I mean, this has the
possibility of being a really funny movie or it's just
gonna be something really cliche, like these women are supposedly
gonna be his greatest fans right there, the biggest fans,
and they're taking the road trip to go see him
playing the Super Bowl. And it has the potential to
be a really good movie. You could be good. You're
(18:31):
talking about these actresses are all terrific and and sometimes
Sally Field just takes lines that aren't funny and makes
them hysterical. I mean, they all who doesn't. But it
could also be one of those Netflix movies where you go, oh,
that that's what it was. Okay, there right now. Well,
see how it goes after that. I guess yeah. I
watched one on on one of the subscription services, and
(18:53):
I wanted to throw an egg at the end because
I saw the twizt tassling through it. But that's a
that's a whole and it wasn't even an end night
child my production. But I mean, you got Rita Moreno
has been active right one day at a time. Uh.
Piece and West Side Story want the remake from Spielberg. Uh.
You have Frankie and Johnny a really good show. That's
(19:15):
where Lily Tomlin has been been. Sally Field as you
you know, you've seen her in a million things, uh,
age up, aged down, whatever you need to do with her.
She was in Spider Man for crying out loud Spider Man.
See how we were able to bring his original aunt
May and Spider Man. That is right, Spider Man as
much as I like Sally Field, Spider Man, Hi, Marissa Tomy. Uh.
(19:39):
And then you have, of course, you know Jane Fonda
and round it out. Who's I mean? But we're talking
about you know, a D for Brady and you know
that's kind of where the age rage we're looking at,
which means you can really get loose with some of
the comedy if they're willing to willing to get after it.
And I gotta imagine by signing up this quartet, well
we'll do just that. Brady's producing, he's in the movie.
(20:01):
I mean, come on, how great could this be? I
mean he's doing all those commercials to really hone his
acting shops now, so yeah, look he's gonna be I'm
sure he's gonna be fun, right I look at this
like remember when Ted Too when they tried to steal
his stuff? Yeah, I remember he was. He was fun
and entourage right when you Obviously a smaller part and
a smaller role for Brady, He's not gonna be Lebron James,
(20:24):
who in train Wreck was actually really funny because you know,
they wrote a good part form and small doses. It
was really cool. And I kind of see that way, like,
can can Brady have that kind of impact on this movie?
And it's a and it's it's that kind of film,
but it really it could. This can go one of
both ways. This could be a surprisingly sharp, fun comedy
that everybody goes to see and it's or it could
(20:47):
be one of those forgettable. Well, everybody just kind of
mailed it in here because it was a paycheck. And
here's a movie that comes out on Netflix. You know
that that's really that's really what it could be. And
I'm hoping the the former, obviously, because I want to
go see it. Even though it's about Brady winning a
big football game and money to go see it. I
can usually see that for free every bleep in Sunday.
Now I gotta pay money to go see him win
(21:08):
a game that I already saw him one because Kyle
Shadahan decided, oh let me be crazy as the offensive
coordinator and make decisions that are just stupid. So now
I'm gonna pay money to go see it. By the
time this comes out will be like twelve dollars, and
I don't have to pay that kind of cash to
go see here. Let me let me quote the great
Aaron Rodgers in this spot R E l A X.
(21:30):
You're getting all excitable. Look it's you know, it's the
coming of age movie is in you know, Racing the
eight uh, so that you can go see Tom Brady
apply his wares. I think you know there's been in
the hijinks and Shenanigans that into It's like I wrote
the pr for this thing. Uh re re transcribing what
(21:53):
they've done here. I'm curious to see how they play
it out. What what's the the origin story. I think
we'll have to research that will little bit right. I'm
surprised there's not more clips of the women that they're
chronicling out just yet. But maybe you hold that back
until you know he actually are in production as opposed
to just announcing it. Be sure to catch live editions
(22:14):
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. Earlier today, Adam Schefter
went on in an interview in which he talked about
the Niners and Jimmy Garoppolo and said, Oh, you think
they're gonna trade Jimmy g maybe not. Take listen. If
you're not training Jimmy right now and after trading up
to get trade lance, it's a sign to your a
(22:35):
fan base that he's not developing the right way. He's
developing the right way. They are happy with him. He
didn't play college football at all two years ago. He's
coming from a small school to begin with, and there
is a steep learning curve for a quarterback like that
who's blessed with a lot of talent, who they still
are very high on. It's not a reflection of whether
they think he's gonna make it. Look people should know
(22:56):
they come on, they're not keeping Garoppolo, they're trading up.
Well he played, maybe they do trade, and I'm not
telling you you're wrong. It's still is absolutely on the
table that he could be moving. I'm just giving you
the other side that I don't think it's a lot
that he's gonna be traded. He very well like, but
it's not a lot, all right now. Sometimes you gotta
remember Adam Schefter has made his money and and does
really well because he puts out the message that teams
(23:17):
want him to put out. Uh yeah, I'm not buying
for a second. You you know, I dare you did
not trade Jimmy Garoppolo, because then you got admit you
whipped on Trey Lance. You can't be happy with a
guy if in year two he's not ready to take
over as a starting quarterback. The guy was picked third overall.
If he's not ready by the beginning a year two,
then he's a bust and you were wrong. About it.
(23:39):
I dare the Niners to not trade Jimmy Garoppolo, so
they have to sit with that storyline. They're not gonna
do it. It's too embarrassing. First round quarterbacks have to play.
You can see that the team was held back because
Garoppolo was just okay. That's the thing with Jimmy g
He is just okay. Right. He will help other teams,
but he is just okay. If you look for that
(24:00):
next level quarterback, then hey, you gotta give trade Lance
a chance because you drafted the guy. Right. This is
one of those Hey, the Niners are if you want
to come to us for for with with with a
bad contract offer, with with a bad trade offer, we're
just gonna rebuff you because we're gonna keep saying we
could trade we can keep Jimmy Garoppolo. Yeah, last year
they barely got through it. There's no way they can
(24:21):
get through it. This year. They're gonna trade him, and
I'm sorry if they're not getting first round picks for him,
I'm sorry if those aren't the offers coming in that
their second round picks and maybe another pick in a
different draft. But his star power or his asking is
never gonna be higher than it is right now. It's
never gonna be higher. And I'm sorry it's not high
(24:42):
enough for you that we we we we don't want
to trade Jimmy for lest I'm sorry, but you can
only trade a guy for what the market says he's worth.
And the market is telling you, Jimmy Garoppolo, even coming
off this, you know, half a half a blip away
from the Super Bowl run, um is telling you that
it's a second round pick and maybe you can get
a second or third round pick the year after, depending
(25:04):
on what Garoppolo winds up playing for his new team.
But first of all, I dare you to not make
that trade, and secondly, you're gonna do it, all right,
I'll dare you, but you're gonna do it, and you're
gonna take it. And I get that this is all
posturing right now, but in the end, that's how it's
gonna go down. The Niners are gonna trade Garoppolo, and
it's it's it's gonna be a deal that they're gonna say, oh,
we're not so happy about, but they really have no choice. Yeah,
(25:27):
it's all the question of you, as you look at
and you've built the squad right, and if Tart intercepts
the ball, so there's a lot of time left on
the clock. But if they finished that game off h
the legend of Jimmy g on a whole other level.
But we look at his contract for cap hits about
twenty nine, which is not awful. But you know, there's
(25:49):
a lot of ways this could play out. You could
decide you love Trey Lance, you want to keep building
with him. You can decide to trade him if if
you want to go get one of the big fish. Uh. Now,
couple of them reside in the NFC, so I don't
know how that that works and one of the teams
what the overpay has to be to make that work.
But you did also trade off a lot of assets
(26:10):
to get Tray Lance. So at some point you know
you need to kick the tires and and see what
he's capable of. And I'll defend Jimmy g uh to
a point, right to a point. Uh, We've talked about
it a lot. As you go forward into the next cycle, Uh,
it's all about who can shake free, and he would
be top on that list. I won't mention the other
(26:31):
quarterback who's starting to get a lot of run. And
you guys keep pushing back at me, telling me I'm wrong,
but you know that that's it. He's at least in
the top two, shall we say for for Garoppolo. So
based on his salary and the fact that Trey Lance
doesn't make any money as a rookie, write it was
all bonuses or whatever. Uh, you're talking about dollar cost
(26:51):
averaging for your quarterback position. You're not too bad a
shape with the salary cap going up as it is
not the question of mentorship, what he mean all that
stuff that's to be settled in the locker room. But
to hear the Adam Schefter say this really kind of
echoed a lot of what I've said all along. There's
no hurry to trade him, right because you might not
(27:14):
get the monster return. And if Trey Lance isn't ready
to begin the season, I know, shock and all, he's
a possibility and he's a bust because bust bust take
number three. Overall, you're not a guy that was taken
in the third round where you need some time. If
if he if he really was, was that big of
a project, it wasn't gonna be ready. Nobody would have
(27:36):
taken him that early, he wouldn't been on everybody's draft boards,
and take number three overall wouldn't have been. He would
be a guy second or third round. You get you
let him sit for a couple of years, Let him
sit and let him say, well, now this is the
beginning of year two and the guy's got to see
the field. And I don't care if you're wrong. This
is how it works. No, but then it goes back
again to do all of those teams that drafted this
past year, and the philosophy can still be the same
(27:59):
for those teams that were in a position to be
a winning squad. Right, the Jets, we knew what they were.
The Jaguars, we knew what they were. You look at
Houston brings in Davis Mills later he plays, well, the
Bears were a mess. I mean, look at how many
stories have come out about Matt Naggy left and right.
Nobody listened to me. Everybody, I love this guy's a
great coach, and now you one after another. It's it's
(28:21):
almost piling on at this point as to how bad
an operation he ran and an offense that he ran.
But so justin fields, there's still hope. But you with
the Bears. You were looking at a team that had
made the playoffs two out of three years. So when
you have the veteran quarterbacks and for whatever reason, you
had two of them that you decided to pay in
addition to justin Fields, you were thinking, all right, we
(28:43):
can get back to the playoffs with the roster we
have if we stay healthy and we get enough guidance
so the young guy doesn't have to be forced in.
And that was the same thing with San Francisco, and
they ran it there, and they've got one more year
on Jimmy G's deal. So if the offers aren't huge,
which they may very well not be, someone may just say,
you know what, we'll take the second tier guy. We'll
(29:04):
take Ryan Fitzpatrick out of the Buffalo stands and put
him back there on on our roster. You know, there's
a lot of movement that can still happen that leaves
Jimmy G in San Francisco. As as offensive as that
may be. The sensibilities I think you just said Buffalo stands.
You go Nana Cherry with the drop in with the
but it stands not stance. But you know what, the
(29:27):
way I bled it together a little Nana Cherry was
who was good for us on Wednesday Night? Who Who's that? Who? Who? Who?
Who's that? Who? Who? I like Buffalo stands as I
love that song. There you go. I got you all
excited now Twitter and out about a frescup. Mike gets
swollen down The Jason Smith with Mike Harmen. But again,
I dare you to not trade Garoppolo and go into
(29:48):
the next season with Jimmy just being okay and Trey
Lance being a bust. I dare you to do it.
I dare you to do it. Uh, Coming up next,
I think after today we should try a new strategy
when it comes to Aaron Rodgers. All right, I'll tell
you what it is. Coming up next. We'll see how
long it goes, because I don't know that it's gonna
(30:08):
go very well. We'll try it. That's next, right here. Fox.

(30:28):
real people, someone who understands your issues. And works to
resolve them with you. That's why I Discover offers helpful
US based reps available seven discover exceptionally common sense. Now
something new I think we can do with Aaron Rodgers,
something that I think we can do because today Packers
g M. Brian Goodacun has had his big press conference,
(30:49):
and he talked about all things Aaron Rodgers, including what
you're gonna hear right now, which I'm saying that well,
trading Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, I don't know. The trading Aaron
Rodgers a conversation I really want to have right now.
Bran comes to you and says he he wants to trade.
Are you gonna be any more willing to trade him?
And you were lost off season? Are you still saying
you're not trading him? You know, those are kind of
(31:11):
some hypotheticals. I don't think we're gonna go down those
roads right now. Okay, so there's that. What about Davontae Adams, Hey,
you're gonna sign him long term? Are you gonna franchise him?
How's it going with Davonte Adams? It's not something we
like to do. Would certainly UM not like to do
that if we don't have to. We'd sort of like
to come up with a long term deal that works
for both sides. But that's um, it's again, it's hypocothetical
that a lot of things have to happen before we
(31:32):
get to that point. Okay, So I'm not going to
get into an Aaron Rodgers trade, and it's kind of
fluid with what's going on. Davontae Adams, Hey, what about
Jordan's love? Would you trade Jordan's love? Brian kudakust This
isn't that time, but I would be very doubtful that
I would take very many of those calls, you know,
to begin with. But this isn't the time that those
calls happened. So I think everybody right now is just
kinda we're all preparing, getting the information from your draft
(31:55):
meetings in the combine and free agency meetings and things
like that, trying to kind of map out what you're
gonna do, what options are available to you. But um, yeah,
those calls don't happen right now. Yeah, alright, that mean
their calls aren't happening at all. No one's calling for
Jordan's love. No one wants Jordan's love. So that's the case,
then that's a sad reality. No one wants Jordan love Man,
No one wants them. I'm not taking I can't take
(32:17):
a phone call. But but what if the phone doesn't ring,
doesn't matter, I'm not gonna take it. Yeah, but if
no one's calling, you don't have to worry about not
taking a phone call. Yeah, but if I don't leaven,
look or answer the phone, then it could be coming
in and I'm still not gonna take it. So it
doesn't mean int that change? I mean the semantics on
that are just crazy. Is it's still over? Are we
still through? Since my phone still ain't ringing, I'll assume
it's still ain't you? There? You go a little Randy
(32:39):
Travis and ladies and gentlemen and Va Bryan Good. I
broke up with you because I didn't call you know,
I broke up with you because I didn't even answer
my phone. Yeah, but I didn't call you, so you
couldn't answer. Yes, But I didn't even look to answer
my phone, and I wouldn't have, So I broke up
with you. Um. Here's here's where I think we have
to go with with Aaron Rodgers, Mike and I'll be
the first person to admit I don't know if I
(33:00):
could do this, but I think we should try it.
I think we should try when when it comes to
Aaron Rodgers is to just not care and not pay attention. No,
this is sports pay outside. Look, you're here on Fox
Sports Radio because you love hot takes, you love discussions
(33:22):
of twelve day cleanses, and you love the Well that's
different that cleanses, an actual conversation. I mean when it
comes to because we're gonna do the cleansed conversation a
little while. No, how it terms to and do I
Am I gonna get traded? Am I gonna retire? Am
I gonna stay? I want to try a new thing
and just not care and ignore it because today was
a nothing burger. It's a big press conference. Goodakun said, Well,
(33:44):
I don't want to talk about a trade. What about
Davonte Adams. We could keep him, we could franchise him,
he could leave. What about Jordan's love. We don't get
the calls. I wouldn't answer the calls. Today was a
nothing burger, the biggest nothing burger in the world. Yeah,
well that what really should have been asked In the
following Davante Adams is so a signing trade is potentially there,
(34:05):
and then wait to see if his head explode like
Scanners all those years ago. But yeah, I again, I
get your point to a degree, but wanting speculation of
whereabouts and forcing yourself out of situation, particularly in what
we've seen in the in the NBA and seeing if
players in the NFL will have the same resolve the
(34:28):
same straightforward this. I mean, maybe the clarity that comes
out of a twelve day cleanse means that at some
point you're gonna say, come out. I'm going to try
to force my way out, knowing, of course, as I've
argued all along, and it's good to see that some
folks are finally paying attention. Uh, rogers can't just leave, Okay,
the packers have to agree to it, or he walks
(34:50):
away from the sport still walk away, but it doesn't
have talks attention. What if we don't pay attention until
we actually he get news? Could we could we actually
do that and just ignore the nothing burn news. I
love conecture and speculation for most things I do. Yeah,
I get it, but this is you just feel like
(35:13):
this is the same crap. No, you're still feeling mad
about the appearance with McAfee that didn't net you the
results you were anticipating he had, much like you're still
waiting on a free damn pizza from Lebron. Well, no,
I've given up on the pizza, but no, McAfee owes
me money. Absolutely owes me money for making his show
trend the other day and getting all those streamers to watching.
Oh No News today, what's the first thing I Rodgers
(35:35):
comes on No News that the guy knows exactly what
he's doing. That's what we should just ignore the guy?
What if we just ignored everything until there was a decision.
This is it's at times starting to feel like a
a show orchestrated in the w w E. You know,
like you know the flower shop or the body shop
or Piper Spit or when Gray Wyatt was doing all
(35:57):
his stuff before when he was there a few years ago.
It's kind of where we're heading with this Aaron Rodgers
stuff Twitter and how about a fresca might gets swollen
dome the Jason Spitzer with Mike Armen Live from the
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Coming up next, we got the
biggest football story of the night. And it involves a
guy that hasn't played in a long time. What is it?
(36:17):
We'll tell you next Fox
