(00:24):
listening to Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason
Smith Show with my bis friend Mike Harmon, and uh.
I got people sending me a link to a segment
(00:44):
from The Today Show eight years ago that says that
the worst song of the eighties might be we built
this city. We just late a few minutes ago from
Jefferson starts, Oh, there's got a be worse worse songs
that it may be the worst song of the eighties
(01:06):
and potentially the worst song ever. Let's see a rolling
stone hole going back to let's see I'm trying to
think of where that. Let's see where this is. This
is a decade old, so it's probably changed. It's here.
Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up was the tenth
worst putting on the Rids was ninth. Oh I like
(01:30):
putting on the rits. Who doesn't love taco Well because
I well because I like it, because it's no matter
how many times I see it. I laugh hysterically at
the young Frankenstein with don't Worry Be Happy. Oh, I
like rock a day through all of it. They dances
(01:53):
wake me Up before you go go, Chris de Burgh
lady in Red, The Final Countdown, and then we built
this city. That's the rolling stone worst. Well, the Final
Countdown is so good because it's Joe Bluth's intro music
from Arrest of Development. Wow. But it's also like a
(02:14):
pretty good Hey, I'm sprinting to a wrestling ring and
I'm gonna kick your ass. So it works. So there's
a bunch of different that could be the worst song ever.
We built this city and we just played it well
you know what, I wouldn't doubt if we heard it
again before this night. And you know, you want a
great story about about just real quick before we get it,
(02:36):
before we get into the Warriors. Um, when I was
in high school, I got I don't want to say recruited,
but I got interest from Case Western, which is a
school in Cleveland, right, and um, it was just academically,
you know what I did. Case Western. They sent me
information and all and all this and and all this stuff,
and it was kind of, you know, it's kind of weird.
(02:56):
It's like, hey, this is cool man. It's like, I'm like,
I'm gonna get a Scott ownership somewhere or something. And
they sent me a cassette tape of of some of
the best things in the city of Cleveland that was
set to that song We Built this City on rocket
roll and it would start off we built this city,
and then it was a play by play right like
(03:17):
it would it would go build this city, and then
you'd hear kozar and the gun got it to slaughter
for a touchdown. That it was we built this city,
and then something else like the Cleveland Orchestra or something else.
And I listened to it all the time because I'm like,
oh my god, this is so cool. They sent me
a cassette tape with with uh with this on here,
and and that's why that song has always been something
that's had a place with me because of that, because
(03:39):
I'm like, hey, they want me to come and go
to school there and every They sent me this cassette
tape and it was we built this city on rocket roll,
not nearly knowing how bad a song it was, and
that it would have this kind of history. Yeah, but
that's still pretty cool though, to get recruited like that,
like you're a top notch athlete because I'm not, I
mean academically, I'm sure you were fine. Oh I was.
(04:01):
I was smart. I was in the top ten percent
in my in my in my class, I was a
top ten percent. I did well. No, I did well.
Let go as long as it because I I Once
I got done taking science classes, I was done. I'm like, okay,
I'm I'm not taking science classes anymore. I'm just not
a science guy. Like, don't you want to take AP chemistry? No? No,
not at all. No, I'd rather take whatever new English
(04:22):
class you have. Well, you have this class called theory
of Knowledge. What's it about? It's about theorem? Is great,
sign me up for it. I'm not taking a P
chem Wait wait wait, wait, don't want to take of knowledge?
Theory of knowledge and it was about theorems where statements
you would have to prove and it and we talked
about famous philosophers and things they said, and it was
(04:42):
just such a crazy ass class and basically teachers like, listen,
if you come every day, you're gonna get an A.
I'm like, yes, that's my kind of classes. You know.
So I was really smart top ten percent. No no, no, no,
I had to do a show up. No no, this
was this was this was first half of senior year,
which was the last grades that would go out in
your college application. So like, you know what, I bust
up my ass for three years. I don't want to
take another AP science class. I'm not a science guy.
(05:06):
So they said you could take that. I'm like, yeah, great,
I'll take it. They're going, no, AP chemistry is so hard.
Yeah suck. It was the smart guy to say not
to go to that class. As I had theory of
knowledge all with Mr Gritz. Oh he was great. Mr
gritzards Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. He would always do he
whatever test we have, he would always do the answer
(05:28):
key um, like while we were doing the test. So
at one point he stands up and he says, it goes, hey,
what what do you guys have? Question five for for
UM choice for this is During the test, we would say, um,
you know, desk cards whatever it was, Oh, I'm sorry,
that's not the right listen to the right answer is choice.
See deskcard shouldn't be on there. Oh thanks thanks, Mr
(05:50):
Grits appreciated, and circle it and go all that class.
Theory of knowledge was the best. I love theory of
knowledge like a Frost went No Show job. We built
this city on rock. I can't hear it without thinking
(06:13):
about Homer singing it yeah yeah, yeah, well now and
how cast city we built this city? And coming full
circle t J. Jefferson starship and Jefferson Airplane getting their
start in San Francisco where the Warriors clearly are suffering. Uh.
(06:33):
Tonight Golden State lost Orlando. Not a great game, and
after the game, both Steve Kerr Draymond Green very upset
with how they played. Before we tell you what's big
to know about this and we got a hot take
coming your way to Uh, here's Draymond Green, followed by
Steve Kerr again unhappy because they simply did not build
(06:54):
this game on rock and roll. I think we're playing
sauce stupid. Um. It's just star playing the basketball and
we're getting talk. So you know, it's hard to win
a game getting talk. That's kind of where we are
right now. I know these are great guys. I love you,
(07:14):
love these guys in the locker room, awesome guys, and
I know they want to win, but we have to
learn how to win, and right now we don't know
how to win. There's a nice I love these guys.
But from Steve kerr Uh, First things first, there is
no bigger all or nothing team than the Golden State
Warriors because if their health. They look there without Steph
(07:34):
Curry and they're hoping he comes back for the playoffs
now and suddenly that's a whoa, Steph, He's coming back, right, Yeah,
we expect him back for the playoffs. What do you
mean you expect him back? Yeah, we expect them back
because with Steph Curry, all right, Golden State's gonna be
gold State will be okay. But without him, they could
lose in the first round to the Jazz, the Mavericks,
(07:55):
or the Nuggets. They could get past in the standings
by the Jazz of the Mavericks in the past, couple
in the in the last ten plus games here in
the season, because they're two games back of the Grizzlies
in second place. The Grizzlies are playing well. All these
other teams are playing well. The Warriors are not. They've
lost three in a row. They've not been good lately.
There is no bigger, all or nothing team. And when
(08:16):
you want to break down why, this becomes a stickier
conversation and boy can be hard and the Warriors is
gonna hate me. But this is not about Steph Curry
to shout loud. You know, I go back it is.
It is a bit, but I you know, but this
I want to go back to this because I I
really I think about this when I think about what
I'm gonna say. When Nick Foles was playing really well
(08:39):
for the Eagles, right and he comes off the bench,
Carson Wentz gets hurt, Nick Foles wins the Super Bowl, Uh,
they expected to be the guy the year after is
there's a quarterback battle. I remember Jay Glazer telling us
on the show saying, you know, here's the thing is,
there's no discernible way to quantify it. But for whatever reason,
the Eagles played better when and Nick Foles is the quarterback.
(09:01):
Then when Carson Wentz does. Carson Wentz is more skilled,
he can throw the ball better, you can do all
these things. But for whatever reason, they played better when
Nick Foles is the quarterback. And you look at the
Warriors who have had injuries problems, right, you know, Draymond
Green has been hurt. Okay, step has been hurt the
last couple of games, but Steph has been was there
until the last three games. Um, the Warriors started this
(09:22):
season twenty nine and nine. They were rolling and then
what happened. Clay Thompson came back. Since Clay Thompson came back,
the Warriors are eighteen and sixteen. Now there's no quantifiable
evidence to say, oh, Clay Thompson his costs and then
there's no metric that shows you, boy, Clay is bad.
His player efficiency rating is bad. No, no, no, he's
(09:43):
everything with Clay is fine. He scored, he's back in
the starting lineup, he's playing minutes. You know. Is like
I said, all these things are fine. It's all He's
at an awful plus minus none of these things. There's
no quantifiable stat or or image say Okay, this is
what's wrong. But for whatever reason, the Warriors are just
not playing well since Clay Thompson came back and was
(10:04):
put back into the starting lineup. Now that could fall
under the category of maybe Jordan Pool is not the
guy he was because he doesn't have as much responsibility.
Looks and STEP's been out. Pool has been averaging game
the last three games been their leading score. Maybe it's
it's it's a rotation situation where guys are we're we're
in a position of strength before. Now because the rotation
(10:25):
is off a little bit, they're off a little bit more.
But no matter how you slice it, you can say, oh, Clay, Look,
I'm not saying Clay's bad. Clay's all you gotta trade him.
But for whatever reason, before Clay Thompson came back, they
had it figured out there at the top of the
conference with the Sun's everything was great. Since Clay came back,
there a five dred team And and before you want
(10:46):
to jump and go, it's the injuries. Injuries, yeah, but
good teams overcome injuries. Over the course of the season,
the Sons at the top of the Western Conference, Chris
Paul has been hurt. They have not had to worry
about that, right, We've seen that, We've seen the Denver
Nuggets play well. They're still waiting for a puple of
guys to come back. The Sixers were without their second
best player and Ben Simmons all the way through the season.
What happened dwell Embiid had the Sexers at the top
(11:08):
of the Eastern Conference. So you can do it. You
can withstand injuries, even two really important players. For whatever reason.
The Warriors haven't been the same since Clay Thompson came back.
Loss of what they went one in seven, then win
four in a row. It's like, it's right it they
fixed it now down three in a row. And those
post game remarks are pretty telling, right for Draymond Green,
(11:31):
it's a little bit of calling out his squad, but
a little bit of throwing up his hands all right.
If you see the video is his head is down
about as far as he can he can put it
as he's pondering the meaning of life and what's going
on with this squad. And then Steve Kerr, you know
these guys. I love these guys. It's like, but that's
not the ra ra rally speech, nor is it the
(11:53):
I need to go and uh, you know, crack some heads.
We need to do something differently. It's the we don't
know what to do that's the worst. When your team
leaders trust me. I'm a Chicago sports fans I've heard
them all. You're a Jets fan, a Knicks fan, you've
heard them all. When it's the throw up, the arms going,
(12:14):
that's that's when it's at it's worse. And that's what
both those guys essentially just did. And with ten games
left in the regular season, it is very difficult to
believe that suddenly it's gonna get righted because as Steph
Curry gonna step back on the court as Steph Curry
or is he some percentage right, he's not. He's not
gonna ramp right up to all right here, I am
(12:36):
scoring thirty a game again, and not to mention what
that does. Back to the rotations, which you're just now
getting set like there, there's a lot of mixing and
matching that has to be done. You almost had a
better into an advantage if you're Denver, all right, we
don't have Porter Junior or Jamal Murray figure it out.
Philadelphia at some point had to say Ben Simmons is
(12:58):
not walking through that door, literally and figuratively. And then
he did. He showed up with a phone in his hand. Okay,
he doesn't want to be here. We're done with this,
moving on and Joel Embiid and we've watched him, you know,
and his dominance and now trying to figure it out
with James Harden as they go Brooklyn's and trigging if
they get in. But there's just so much topsy turvy
(13:19):
to them that we just pushed them aside. But with
the Warriors, it what looked to be so promising, all
of a sudden, you're potentially dropping another couple of slots
in your playoff seating, and you don't. You don't get
the cake walk that you would have otherwise. Right, You
fall behind Memphis, you fall behind Dallas or or one
(13:40):
of these other squads, and all of a sudden, you're
you're facing a good team out to jump instead of
getting the well quote unquote cupcake as it were. No
disrespect to the guys on the Clippers. They're playing hard
without their stars, I mean, look what they I mean,
they're only right about five hundred, but still playing hard
and playing through it. And everybody keeps saying, well, if
(14:02):
the Lakers just get in, all right, well whatever, that's fine.
It's it makes for good fodder and you keep kicking
that can down the road. But the point is they're
not suddenly in a two you know to seven matchup anymore. Yeah,
I'm telling you it is. There's some issues right there.
And look, I know they're gonna everybody hate You're gonna
(14:24):
hate me, but they already hate me up there anyway
because it's Steph Curry's the system of quarterback. But really,
I mean, they've not been the same since Clay Thompson
came back, and that's something you got to figure out.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio.
Ah app alright, alright, ty Shirt, why are we getting
(14:47):
this song? I got I think brianson smash Mouth like
an hour ago. Yeah, it is a call back. Well,
this was the Jets song in two thousand and six,
I want to say, because it was every week the
Jets would win ugly, and so every game they won,
Her Edwards would play this song in the in the
locker when the Jets would dance to it. It It became
(15:08):
the Jets song. True story, true story, not lying to you.
That's the next level stuff right there there. It is.
We went ugly like Shrek because that's what it was.
We went ugly like Shrek, so this was in Shrek too,
so they used the song That's what it was all about.
There you go, that's the last time the Jets were good,
nicely done. Yeah. What I didn't know is, you know,
(15:30):
my my daughters and I we had visited uh, Florida
to go see my folks over the holidays, and we
went to the Shrek ride that they had at the
theme park. That was one of the last days it
was open. They shuttered it after, so we were glad
we saw it. We laughed our heads off. It was fantastic,
one of those four experiences. And I love when they
(15:53):
sneeze that when he sneezes at you and the water
goes like it was good, it was well done. And
then it's like, oh, probably gonna be another Minions thing
and uh probably beat, oh beat uh. Fox Sports Radio
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Tonight show brought to you by one of our favorite city's,
(16:13):
Las Vegas, the greatest arena on Earth. Every game, match, race,
and competition it is always on. Whoever your root for,
whatever sport you love to watch the biggest games are
even bigger in Vegas, so make sure to plan your
trip today at visit Las Vegas dot com. Well, today
was a couple of big pro days. Uh can you
(16:34):
pick it? At his pro day show and everybody, look,
my hand is bigger than you think it is. I
can throw the football, Draft me, draft me, and Uh.
Malik Willis had a pro day of pro days. He
was all over social media. A couple of throws he made,
especially one where I think he threw the ball seventy
yards in the air on a dime to a receiver
who made the catch in the end zone. He was
(16:55):
smiling running down the field to give him a high five.
And suddenly, Malik Willis is who everybody wants, right, everybody
talking up Malik Willis. Oh, guys, so good. Look at
him at a liberty Malik Willis. Malik Willis may turn
out to be a good quarterback in the NFL. But
let me tell you, I have to be the old
(17:15):
man in the at the gas station warning the teenagers
who have drugs and alcohol about going to party in
the woods because there's a guy there with a machete
that's gonna kill all of you. I have to be
the guy in the oil grease stained hat and the
flannel shirt saying, you don't want to go into those wards.
Question about this before we pursue it. All those movies,
(17:38):
just just the way you laid it up. Were they
financially backed by religious organizations? I don't know why, because
of all the all the don't do this, don't yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
don't drink. Why you'll die a horrible death with a
machete in the wood. If you look at a member
of the opposite sex. Don't hook up? Why you hook up?
(18:00):
You're adult situations. Oh yeah, there's nobody that ever, that
ever had sex. No horror movie that made it out alive.
Hey I made it. Boy, what a great weekend I had.
You know, Hey, Barbara and I hooked up. I really
like her. Oh it's great. And we got away from
the maniac with the knife grant. No, no, no, no,
we're showing you what's bad. We are Part twelve. I
(18:21):
blanked my way through Crystal Lake. Jason having a candlelight
dinner with someone. Oh hey, he he opens up the
platter and it's his mom's head. Oh, put it back,
put it back, put it back. Although I will say
this I will say this Hidden in Friday the thirteenth
Part two. Okay, Hidden fy thirteenth part two. Uh. Half
(18:46):
the the UM counselors and and the teenagers stay at
the camp for the night. The other ones all go
out to a bar, and then at the end of
the night, the ones that come back from the bar
are the one you know that that you know. Jason
kills a bunch of sorry spoiler, he kills all the
people who stayed there, and then everybody that comes back
from the bar, excepted for the one guy who doesn't
(19:09):
come back. Because they were all talking about going back
to the camp and the guy was having fun and
he goes to the bartend he goes, hey, any places
near here open up, stay open later than you guys,
And the guy says yeah. He says, oh, and that's
the last time you see him in the movie. So
he decided I'm gonna stay out. I'm gonna say out
at the bar all night. And you know what, he
made it. That's the guy that made it. He didn't
do nothing happened to him. He made a seed and
(19:31):
proceed he succeed in pro seed. I'm gonna close his
bar down because I don't want to go back to
find a guy I hate. Those people ain't doing it done.
Uh So this is why I need to play the
old man in the horror movie. Because whether it's Malik
Willis or Kenny Pickett or any of these guys, but
(19:53):
Willis especially today because he's got all the attention now,
suddenly everybody wants Malik Willis and now he could jump
into the top ten all these things. Let me warn you,
don't do it, Okay, don't reach for a quarterback because
you love the guy at the combine and what he
did at as pro day, and that's what Malik Willis is. Look.
I watched Liek Willis playing in high school. I watched
in college. I watched him last couple of years. Syracuse
(20:14):
played him twice, right beat us once? We beat him once.
Uh he's a good quarterback? Is he an NFL star quarterback?
You can't ignore four years of tape for a two
hour meeting you had with a guy at a combine
and watching his pro day when he's throwing the air.
Everybody looks good throwing to air. Zach Wilson looked great
(20:34):
throwing to air. Everybody looks good. If you have a
strong arm. It's great. Yes, he can throw the ball
that far. Hey, that's terrific. Okay, but don't forget there's
a reason why coming into the draft he wasn't a
lockdown top five pick. There's reasons for this. But every
year teams want to ignore that, and they and and
because they they fall over a guy who we met
(20:56):
him for two hours. He was great with us. Yeah,
you know why. Because the guy wants a job, So
of course he's gonna show you the best version of himself. Now,
maybe he's a nice guy, maybe he's a real maybe
he's the real thing. I don't know, but I want
a guy that can play quarterback. Now, let me just
go back and prove my point to you. Right, I'm
gonna go back ten years. All right, I'm gonna go
back ten years, and i'm gonna start in two thousand
and twelve, and I'm gonna give you every draft first
(21:20):
round draft riser at quarterback because they had a great
combine and their pro day was really good. And you're
gonna see they all had one thing in common. None
of them were any good for a long period of time. Okay,
two thousand and twelve, who was the big riser Robert
Griffin the third right, yep, Heisman Trophy. Great, but Andrew
Luck's number one pick. But what happened in his combine
in his pro day off the charts right, everybody fell
(21:42):
in love with the guy. I look, I did an
interview with him on the set of NFL Network. He
was personable, he was smart, he was funny. You can
see where teams love him. So what happens He jumps
all the way up to number two and nearly leap
frogged Andrew Luck. But luckily the Colts under said, okay,
we still got to take Andrew Luck and look at
the career r G three head right, two thousand thirteen.
(22:03):
Who was the first round draft riser? EJ. Manual? Very
weird draft. He was the only quarterback taken in the
first round. Right, that's never gonna happen again. But coming
in he was a pretty good prospect, but he was
the only one. And when he went to his pro
dight good and combine good, Okay, interviews, yes, so we
So suddenly he gets taken by the Bills way earlier
(22:23):
in the first round. Then he should he never even
dents the NFL all right, two thousand fourteen, Who was
the guy that leaped all the way up to number three?
Blake Bortles, small school, Central Florida. But boy, look at him,
strong in the pockets, strong arm. He had a great
Pro day. People were drooling over him. This arm strength,
This kid is so good. And look at the career
Blake Bortles his head right. Nobody in two thousand fifteen,
(22:45):
that was a year that was Jamis Winston and Marcus
Mariota one too, right, So fifteen there wasn't anybody go
to two thousand sixteen. Who was the big draft riser
because of the Pro Day? And combine a guy that
had a great Pro Day again that everybody loved Carson
and Wentz. And look at Carson Wentz his career right.
Two thousand seventeen, who was the guy Mitch Drabinsky. Drabinsky
(23:07):
who came into the direct Maybe he's a first rounder,
I don't know, but always so smart. Look at what
he did North Carolina Mobile. The Bears had to trade
up with the forty niners to go get Mitch Drabinsky.
And look at the career Mitch Drabinsky has had. Who
was the guy in two thousand eighteen, baker Mayfield. Mayfield
is gonna be in the mix with these guys who
could go at the top of the first round. There's
(23:27):
a bunch of guys. But wow, look the guy's got swagger.
Oh I don't know, man, the guy every time you
heard swagger, swagger, swagger, he would move up a spot
in the draft to the point where the Browns took
him number one overall. And now before he got to
the end of his rookie contract, the Browns had to
replace him and now finish in two thousand nineteen with
Daniel Jones, someone that the Giants could have gotten at
(23:48):
the end of the first round, maybe in the second round.
But no, no, no, we liked the guy. We picked
his braid at the combine, were liked everything he had
to say. We're taking him number five overall. All these
teams would redo that pick if you could. Now. These
players had moments. R G three had his rookie season,
Blake Borders had a big year in ten. You know,
Carson Wentz had the first two thirds of this Eagle
(24:11):
Super Bowl year. Right Robisky got the team to the playoffs.
Baker Field got his team to the playoffs, but not
nearly what you expect when you take a guy this
high in the draft. When you take a guy, let's
say it number if you want to average, taking a
guy at number ten, you're expecting to have a quarterback
for seven or eight years. Now. Granted, not all of
them are gonna be Josh Allen. They're not gonna be
(24:33):
Patrick Mahomes. You want to think that when you're taking
a guy that early, they're gonna be great. No, But
when you're taking a guy that early, you're expecting him
to have at least a Derek Carr career. I think
that's the best. I think that's what you can expect
to say where you're not asking for too much. Right,
we're taking this guy in the top of the first round.
What kind of a Derek Carr career? A guy that's
pretty good above average can do things. When he's in
(24:54):
the right system, he can be pretty good. It does
he need to be at the top of the NFL. No,
but that's you can expect. None of these guys were
Derek Carr. None of these guys even close to it.
They all got replaced within five years. None of them
made it to their second contract with the team. Right,
None of these guys. Daniel Jones isn't making it a
second contract with the team, Carson Wentz got dealt, Mitch
Drobiski got traded right, Blake Bortles was done, e J
(25:16):
Manuel r G three all the it didn't work. And
so just understand that when you want to go crazy
over over a player who has a great combine when
it comes to interviews and throwing, or has a great
pro day because he's throwing the air, don't dismiss the
four years of tape. There's a reason why a prospect
(25:38):
is this kind of player. But I get the quarterbacks
rise and if you want to take Malik Willis or
Kenny Pickett into the first round, where hey, it's okay, great,
but when you take a guy in the top ten,
you're expecting that player to be a big time player
for you for a long time and whatever position you're drafting,
and if you miss on that, you set your team back. Specifically,
(25:58):
if you miss on a quarterback, that sets your team
back three years because it's three years of watching this
guy not be able to do it. Before you fire
a head coach and hire a new head coach and
bringing a new offensive coordinator and have a new plan
and bringing new players in free agency to start it
all over again. That's a big decision to make. It's
a big mistake to make. Just because on two separate
(26:19):
days you just fell in love with a guy. That's
a tough thing. Doesn't mean Malik willis as any of
these guys. But man, I'm telling you, when you look
at the last ten years in the draft, risers and
and and what their futures were, are you really believing
a Malik Willis a little bit too much because you
like the guy because he's very personal and he seems
down to earth. Yeah, that's great. I like my guy's personal,
down to earth. To Sam Donald was personal, down to earth,
(26:41):
and he stunk and he's stunk and never got better.
So just there, there's a big warning to happen. That's
why I got to be the old man in the
grease staying hat here. Mike Harmon, Yeah, that's where I say,
here's a beer. Just wait and see who emerges back
from the forest, recognizing there's gonna be bloodshed, because that's
what's gonna happen here because we can't avoid it. We
(27:01):
need quarterbacks in the first round, and especially for teams
who this year most of all, when you had just
the wild west of guys changing teams right we're sitting there.
If you were doing it the traditional trading cards series
back of the day, you'd have a special updates set
(27:22):
like they did in baseball all those years ago. It's
like you'd wait for it towards the end of the years.
Here's the guy where the call ups and here's the
guy with the airbrushed hats, or maybe actually got a
game photo because it's easier to do it now. But
that's what you'd be doing, getting ready to print cards
right now. Of all these guys, it's like, hey, can
you paint on or on photoshop? Are really good uniform
(27:44):
on this guy? Yeah, go at it because that's that's
where at But all the teams that got left out
of that that still have a quarterback, they don't like
guess what they're banging on the doors to say, you
owe me. Oh, by the way, my season ticket renewal
is do blank you where's my quarterback? I'm a GM
(28:06):
in most of these places. Are not guys with the
the greatest uh soundest of footing around here. The only
ones that seemed to have control of Seattle. But that's
because you've got a bit of a power vacuum, right,
as we've talked about after the passing at Paul Allen
to where it seems like Schneider and Carol still have
a lot more juice than maybe they should be given
(28:28):
the last couple of years. But otherwise you're looking at
a bunch of situations where it's like, well, if we
give the fans and the ticket holders what we want,
it may not be the right guy, but it gets
him a quarterback. And let's face it, quarterbacks are sexy
and move the move the needle here right, drafting an
offensive lineman or a defensive lineman while the sound football
(28:49):
move doesn't get people excited, which is why we're worried
about an eighth of an inch of a guy's hand.
I also know, obviously with Pickett there were a lot
of fumbles. We talked with Buck key Brooks about it.
I gotta listen to the whole show downloaded, uh and
wherever you get your audio Jason Smith Show with Mike
harm and give it five stars, will love you forever,
and then go on evangelize because it was all good
(29:11):
information coming out of there. And of course a lot
of entertainment over the four hours tonight, but to that
point that means someone's gonna make the mistake. And as
the guy sitting on the porch, the old man in
the grease stained hat and shirt holding his beer, you're
gonna just watch nobody come back out. And I hope
you'll you'll realize come come the morning light, after you've
passed out from however many you've had over the course
(29:34):
of the evening, Jason, you will not have missed anything
because some teams will have gone into the blood bath
of a quarterback early. Once again, it is inevitable. Like fanos,

give you a tweet and you tell me if this
is something from Magic Johnson or something made up by me.
(31:25):
Magic has been tweeting a lot the last few days
about the NFL, about the n C A turnin, about
the Lakers. Uh so playing right now myself, Mike Harmon,
Alex Tisher, are you guys ready kick my ass? Last time?
Let's know that that couple of hours ago, that might
be the best round ever. Here we go. In the
last three games, Russell Westbrook has played his best basketball
(31:48):
as a Laker. True. In the last three games, Russell
Westbrook has played his best basketball as a Laker? Is
that a magic Johnson tweets? Yea? Do you think it is? Mike?
I do. I don't think he's watched the Lakers the
last three games. I'm gonna say no, that is a
(32:11):
magic tweet. Very nice way to get off, very nice.
I'll be going to a lot of Raiders and Rams
games this season? Yes? Is that a magic Johnson tweety?
Going to a lot of Raiders and Rams games next season? Man,
(32:33):
I don't think this one is either. That is my
Johnson tweet. You've played this game now with us? Now,
do you think when Lebron James passes Kareem abdul Jabbar
(32:56):
he'll announce he's starring in a remake of Airplane? That
would be very funny? Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
I love the thing. Do you think when Lebron James
passes Kareem abdul Jabbar he'll announce he's starring in a
remake of Airplane? That would be very funny. As much
as I'd like to catch up to Mike here, Jason,
this is a fantasy of yours. No, yeah, no, of
(33:18):
course not. Come on, that's easy. I had to give
it an easy one. Tight. Yeah, you had to get
on the board there. Lakers were yellow and purple. That
is it's it's gold. It's it's gold, purple and gold. No,
it's yellow. Now it's wow. You know what. You go
down to crypto dot com and go, hey, can anybody
tell me where I can get a good yellow Lakers jersey?
(33:39):
And you see what happened. I only know where the
stable center is. I don't know where the cryptis. Davante
Adams is a very skilled wide receiver who will play
very well for the Raiders. Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
That sounds about right? Is a very skilled wide receiver
who will play very well for the race Waters? Yeah,
(34:02):
I think so, yeah, I think there's Oh that is
not a magic Johnson tweet? Man got you? Yeah. Unfortunately,
in the n c A tournament, there's no second chances
if you play a bad game? Is that a magic
(34:24):
Johnson tweet? Unpetually, in the tournament, there's no second chances
if you play a bad game. That is true TV. Yeah.
I think that was a lamentation after Michigan State losing
Michigan State losing. Yeah yeah yeah that oh yeah, you guys,
that is not magic. Johnson tweet you suck, Jason. Laker fans.
(34:51):
If you get in the playing round, you have a
chance to advance, Laker fans. If you get in the
playing round, you have a chance to advance usually how
it works. Thanks magic that succeed and proceed. I'm gonna
say no, you know what, I wouldn't be surprised it
probably is. Okay, that is is not magic. Johnson tweets
(35:18):
last one all right. The Rams have made some good
moves this offseason and could repeat as Super Bowl champions.
The Rams have made some good moves this off season
and could repeat as Super Bowl champions. I'm gonna say no,
this one's worth ten points, so I'm gonna say yes,
(35:38):
that is definitely not a magic sent him into retirement.
