(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. I hate that song. Hello,
and welcome inside the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Oh, Aaron Donald says he's gonna run
it back. It didn't surprise me of that tight shirt.
I was ready for you, man. Did he read it
(00:44):
or did coach say it? It doesn't matter. I was
ready for tight shirt playing run it back. Nothing else matters.
It was all right. I figured we have day two
of slaptastrophe. I was ready or takes more hot takes
uh more? Hey slap These guys awake, So they think
about what the word defense might mean high Laker fans. Well,
(01:05):
clearly today is a tale of two Mavericks. Alright one, Hey,
we're gonna get to in a couple of minutes the Mavericks.
I look at I think had thirty eight points in
the first four minutes of this game as they boat
race the Lakers. Uh. And now the Lakers are technically
out of the playing round because the Spurs have the tiebreaker,
(01:26):
or as Frostburg made sure to text me before, the toebreaker,
So toebreaker or to either one. It's a toebreaker or
the tiebreaker. You know what, if you pull that off,
you've one up to Will Smith. It's the toebreaker. It's
so what it is. It's a finishing move at WrestleMania.
Then on the introduce Sammy Shane or somebody check this out.
I'll tell you the Lakers just don't even show up.
(01:48):
They get blown out from the jump. Right, This wasn't
a game where oh the note Dallas scored forty three
in the first quarter and that was it. The game
was over. The Lakers may just a fact, get cutting
into eighteen at the end was an achievement. We watched
the game, right, So eleanor you know my older daughter
for those out of ware, she's sixteen. Theater kid pays
(02:09):
attention to sports enough to where, you know, if there's
some chatter she can at least be an interested observer.
So she knows all the principles, you know, all the
big players involved, and he knows just enough to be dangerous.
That's that would be the summary statement. So we watched
the first half of the entire the first quarter, I
should say, and the entire first quarter. She's just laughing
at them. It's like, why why does he keep shooting
(02:31):
from there if he can't make it? Like, you don't
what It's a question they have now asked eleanor this
is the game, and they keep asking that question. And
so after a quarters like all right, fine, I got
other errands. I gotta run, I gotta walk the dog
and whatever, and then I get in the car right
as the uh fourth quarters about to begin. Radio call
was twelve more minutes, like all right, let's let's do
(02:55):
the player of the game. And because well it's got
to be Malik Monk, Like you missed that thirty four,
twelve and twelve for the guy now in a sweatsuit. Huh.
And then they call a fall two minutes in and
it's I thought we agreed we were calling falls this
final quarter like that. That's how bad it got. It
was just opening my it was, you know, an improv
(03:16):
session mocking the Lakers on the home radio. It was
next level stuff. It's like, you know, Gallows humor to
a whole other level. You gotta do something because outside
of everybody's turning off in the first quarter, the Lakers
aren't making it back when they get down thirty to ten,
and it's done. If people are walking away, you know what.
You know, It's like I felt like this today because
(03:38):
some of my friends were texting me going, oh my god,
my night is free tonight. Don't have to worry about
the Lakers all this stuff. Um My daughter had her
first middle school soccer game last week, right, and we
had no idea because you know, you play all kinds
of crazy teams. You don't know where they are and
how good they are. So we're getting ready to play
and the team is pretty good and the other team
gets off the bus and they come out of nine players,
(04:01):
nine and they're all wearing matching T shirts, like they
don't even have uniforms, And I just go, how long
is this really going to be a game? And I
think we scored three goals in the first like two minutes,
and the parents who had taken off from work to
come watch the games. It was at five o'clock. They'll say, hey,
we're leaving. I'll see you later. I don't need to
see this. I'm leaving. I believe they all got up
and left. The final score was like eighteen nothing, something
(04:23):
like that, but they all got up and just walked out.
They said, I don't need to I don't need to
to stay for this. I I mean, so I get
you know the whole thing. Hey, when you know how
it's gonna end, go do something else. Go to I
know how this is gonna and I know how it's
gonna end for the Lakers, go do something else. And
now the biggest thing, Mike, I'm telling you, let's see
how many games Lebron James plays the rest of the season.
(04:50):
I wonder, right, and I'm not This is one of
those I'm not saying. I'm just saying, Um, Lebron knows
and we said this, he's not going to be on
the for the Lakers missing the playoffs, right, not gonna
be because it's it's gonna be on him, right, It's
gonna be him. I'm not gonna get that play well. Again,
this is where critical thought is a very important component
(05:11):
of how we operate in this society. I e. Anybody
that backed Will Smith. You lost, Okay, you lost. Likewise,
if you're not blaming Lebron James for what is transpired here,
you haven't watched the first exactly and your willfully, willfully
ignorant to what is transpired in Los Angeles this year.
(05:31):
Frank Vogel says he should be the m v P now,
but it's gonna be his fault they don't make the
playoffs right. He knows he does not want that optic
and I wonder if he has told the Lakers or
he's not listen because I said he's gonna play as
long as the Lakers are safely in the playing round.
When it looks like they could drop out, then he's
gonna stop playing and he's not gonna come back because
he's not going to be the guys at all. I
(05:52):
couldn't get the Lakers in right now, he's already missing
every other game, so we can kind of come up
with the you know, I wasn't healthy at the end.
A D was and healthy at the end because he
knows that not making the playoffs is so embarrassing for
his brand. I wonder if he plays in another game
the rest of the way. I mean, maybe one, maybe
in a winnable game. Maybe he you know, cherry picks
(06:14):
and says, Okay, look, we have a tough schedule the
rest of the way. Maybe he picks the winnable game
to come back at, you know, to try to be Hey, look,
I tried to come back, but I couldn't do it
because the rest of our schedules Utah, New Orleans, Denver, Phoenix,
Golden State, Oklahoma City, Denver. Right, yeah, that you can
quote easy games are Oklahoma City and New Orleans. And
we just watched the Pelicans come back from twenty plus
(06:36):
down on Sunday, which was obscured by Will Smith in
the slat. Yeah, so I is he gonna really come
back for New Utah on Thursday? Come on at Utah,
Come on New Orleans at home? Maybe Denver, no, Phoenix, no,
Golden State, no, Oklahoma City. Maybe at Denver. No. I mean, really,
how much is he really gonna play? Because he no,
(06:57):
I'm not gonna be blamed for this, I'm and why
I want to be able to have plausible deniability that hey,
we were there. Everything was fun, you know, but then
I couldn't stay healthy at the end. I don't know.
I wonder how many games is he gonna play? Lebron James. Yeah,
the only thing with this is now it's the the
question of um, the George Costanza effect for Lebron James
(07:18):
and for anybody that wants to carry his water in
the media, fans, whatever, and and look, we've celebrated his
individual play throughout the year, but remember there's still when
you're a superstar, right, you're a long tenured star, you're
a coach in any league. Don't tell me you don't
have input on the roster, right that. I don't buy
(07:40):
that for a second. But while all he is is
a player, No, no, you can't pick and choose. We
talked about this a little bit last night. You can't
pick and choose when things go well. Look at he
brought in the guys to help get you know, push
this over the great recruiter, and look at how he
integrates people into the team. And then when it goes
badly said, well, he he was obviously not him. I mean,
(08:01):
clearly it couldn't have been any of his his responsibility
or clutch sports who have what half the team under contract. No, no, no,
not them at all. So for Lebron James, fantastic individual year,
but the team building and again going back to whatever
was nodded, whatever was tax phones, whatever, you built a
(08:25):
team where you got rid of all of the guys
that would commit defensively. So what do you have nights
like tonight where you give up forty three points in
the first court and everybody's looking around at each other,
going all right, they can't do that again, can they?
Well they came back with thirty nine on you. How
you feeling now, eighty two points in the first half allowed? Hey,
(08:45):
I mean, I guess they The positive side, uh is
that you held him, you know, held him down in
the second half to just footy six. I'll tell you
that this is one of those cases where if I'm
the Lakers, I get to the off season and I say,
all right, what is the best thing to do? Is
the best thing to try to make sure a d
is healthy and we run it back and we do
(09:07):
and we move on from Westbrook? Or is the best
thing to completely blow up the roster and try to
fit pieces around Lebron James for the next couple of years,
Because clearly he's gonna play. Look next year, he wants
to pass Creem Abdul Jabari wants to play another year.
He wants to wait for Brawny to get to the league.
How do you do it? How do you The best way?
They need to just get rid of everybody. They need
(09:27):
one of those. Hey, we have one player on the
roster going into free agency. That's Lebron James. That's it.
That's the thing. If if they the only way they're
gonna compete is to blow it up and start over again,
because clearly they tried with three superstars that didn't work.
Anthony Davis can't stay healthy, can't stay in the lineup.
You won with him, Okay, now you gotta move on.
Somebody will want him. Somebody want Anthony Davis. He's really talented,
(09:48):
and we gotta get him out of there. We'll be hell,
we'll keep them healthier, more on our team. Whatever you
think about Haylock. But that's the best way if the
Lakers really want to do the right thing. After the
embarrassment they're gonna have of missing the playoff, some Lebron
James are gonna walk around going, don't blame me, I
didn't do it, uh blow up to completely blow it up.
Yeah I did. I did go gabble on you completely
(10:09):
blow it up, crusty half gabble. But you know, okay,
only way forward. Yeah, I look at it as a
you know, we're we're in Los Angeles. So the idea
of the open casting call right here, here's what our
our cap situation is. And you put that on the
jumbo tron at the crypt and then it's Lebron James
and he's on the court ready to check off any
(10:35):
interview questions, run guys through drills whatever, Who wants to
play with me? And see who shows up, who's available
to come in or have GM show up. And now
it's a job fair. How do we put our distress
contracts onto your roster and convince you they're better than
the ones you possess right now? I mean a d
was in attendance there. How many shots of him in
(10:55):
the first quarter? Did you get? Man? The ISOs between
the he and Lebron. If you were doing a drinking game,
you were under the table by the eight minute mark,
showing you know, the helplessness of the situation. Hey, let's
just show two guys they aren't playing because we can
distract from the misery that is being inflicted upon Lakers
(11:15):
and their fandom, uh for this first quarter. So uh yeah,
I mean you've got to two contracts. I mean, I
can't call Davis is bad. You could talk bad luck,
et cetera. But at some point you have to realize
what he is. Right, And as we've talked about, Lebron
can't just drag guys along anymore, as good as he is,
(11:36):
especially if the other four guys on the court can't
commit to playing a lick of defense. Right, that's Frank
Vogel's specialty. So we know what his fate is. I mean,
that's prettydetermined. They're gonna fix the glitch in seven games
at this point, we fixed the glitch. And now, speaking
of Frank Vogel again, he says tonight after the game, oh,
(11:58):
we weren't good enough. We work mean, how many times
are you gonna say that? How many times is Frank
Voge was gonna say, oh, you know, we weren't good
enough tonight? Well, why the hell did we send it
assistant interviews? When you're gonna do one of those dopey
in game interviews, how the hell do you not send
the assistant at the end of the bench, why are
(12:18):
you doing that, You've gotten something? And then a couple
of times they caught pieces of what he was saying,
and it's just so asinine, like there's no fire in
the belly, nothing there. It's like, guys, when you please
play basketball? Proped to his knees to beg them to
actually play. Luca didn't play in the fourth quarter at all.
(12:42):
Thirty minutes, twelve twelve from three, six or seven from
the free throw line, thirty four points, twelve rebounds, twelve
assists and a plus twenty one. I'll tell you, uh
if I gave you the over under a real credit card.
Questions require real people, someone who understand your issues works

(13:07):
I will say Lebron James plays no more than two
games the rest of the season. He plays two more games.
Was gonna set it at two and a half. He
plays two more games. He plays against New Orleans and
he plays against Oklahoma City. Those are the games he plays.
He doesn't play against good teams. He knows they're gonna lose.
But oh, I can only play at the very and
I wouldn't be surprised doesn't play at all. If you
tell you we're shutting down. If he played that, if
(13:29):
he plays in just those two games over the final seven,
he deserves all the vitriol and red ink that that
he that come with it. He deserves every bit of it.
If that final seven games would that would be absolutely cowardly.
Two games, two games he's gonna play. You've played at
most at and maybe he shut down. But two games,
(13:52):
two games? Mike Harmon, who wow? Look at you? Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app.
All the new Top Gun trailer came out today. You're
so citty. It's so excited to convince it's a movie
(14:14):
again or still no. No, no, let's claim and this
is just another and a long con on you there's
still no movie. It was just exciting to see the
new trailer that they had come out. Okay, I mean
really they macause Tom Cruise even put it out on
his Twitter. Yeah no, no, no, it's just just just
people were getting little antsy because you know, Tom Cruise
at all these movies postponed and all this stuff, and
(14:36):
you know, and then he had a leak tapes of
you know, fire People. Yeah, yeah, he got mad at
people two years ago, you know, for set behavior because
of COVID. And meanwhile those movies are now two years
away from coming out, So it's like, what, why did
you get so upset? Well, there's a lot of c
g I and special effects, principal photography could be done
on some of this stuff. How many movies do we
(14:57):
see where someone looks like they're twelve and then all
of a sudden they're twenty five year old. You know,
they've they've been in thirty seven things. Now it's like
we wait, what what when was this film? It's like, well,
we had to get the computer you know, imagery right
of the monsters that were attacking them. So it's been
in post for quite some time. Or like the difference
between Jack Will in a Quiet Place in the Quiet
(15:20):
Place too, it's the next day. Really, this kid is
like five feet taller. Well you know what the the
aliens really uh, you know, in whatever he was consuming
suddenly there was a yeah T shirt game was on
like protein powder and stuff to drink, and now I'm
feeling produced. Oh that's is I don't know if that's
(15:41):
the real thing. Is that it is? All right? See
tight shirt is like hey is there? Wait? Wait it's
a protein that I can drink. But also I can
make clothing out of it, sweet and you can smoke it.
You can do all of those things. You know what
you want to talk about? A super stub stick right there? Baby, Yeah, yeah,
you heard of super food right like blueberries and candle up.
(16:04):
But that's like that that's not not a real thing.
Is not a real thing. Back to sour soaps. That's
like the super substance, Like you could do anything with it.
You can wear it, you can smoke it, you can
you can do all kinds of things. It's it's unbelievable. No,
I think that everybody was a little antsie. So Tom cruise, Okay,
we gotta put out another trailer to get people off
my back until the Mission Impossible movies comes out. And
so now here it is, and now there's a release
(16:25):
date right right. Iceman potentially is in it, although we
just saw a picture of ice Man. We didn't see Iceland.
We just saw a picture of ice Man in the
He's credited, Yeah, he's credited. So it's a question of
is it is it past or is he just gonna
kind of come in and nod at everybody and so
we all get a good fuzzy moment. Al Right. If
(16:45):
there was a movie, I don't think there is. But
if there was a movie, I would say, there's a
there's a flashback scene with Tom Cruise and and uh
and Iceman and the funeral that it looks like they're
all at is his funeral? Yeah? Well here's the question though,
is there a forced ghost for Goose? Uh? Yeah, no, no, no,
(17:08):
they did that. They probably that and said, no, we
did that already. We we can't have that again. But dude,
I'm so excited. The trailer looks unbelieved. I mean, if
there was a movie, I would be excited because I
know what's gonna happen. Is the movie's gonna come out.
They're gonna say here it is. We're gonna go to
the movie theater and they're gonna show us like all
kinds of crazy previews for other movies for like an
hour and a half, and then they're gonna end with
the top Gun credits on the top Gun theme, and
(17:29):
then you get the scene that has Scaring and Cruise
and Kilmer together just just knowing nods to each other,
and then it fades to black. If there was a movie,
I would be very excited because it looks amazing, no
c G I everything. You know, he's not flying the
planes himself, but you know he's in the planes as
it's going. It just looks unbelievable. Dude, what what if
(17:50):
part of the subplot is actually Miles Teller hanging out
with Aaron Rodgers part of the movie. Aaron Rodgers probably
would have as some kind of cameo, and he would
play a character who can't decide something. That's that's it
would be. He's gotta play He's gotta play strong, the
type he played. I can't decide what to do, so
Tom Cruise decides for him. He says, Washington just got
(18:13):
nominated for Macbeth. So I guess Aaron Rodgers get to
do a re redew of Hamlet? Sure? Why not? Except
it set in contemporary times with him as a football player,
takes decisions about his career and like write this down,
write this down. This is a movie right here, man,
this is a movie. If they can make Mecca Godzilla
versus Sharknado seven, you can make something like this, ma'am.
(18:35):
I don't know where it's gonna come out, but they
can make something like that, I'm telling you. But yeah, again,
if there was a movie, I would be so incredibly excited.
Just the beginning of the trailer went when when the one?
Because I love how the pilots are so even more
cocky and arrogant than they were in the first one,
and the one pilot Phoenix says, we're already the best
in the world. Who are they going to get to
teach us? And then to hear the Dan Dean being
(18:59):
being the I'm like, oh my god, you got me
just with that. I didn't even need anything else. I
just needed that little bit of the pilot's yeah, yeah,
we're the best, We're the best. Who's gonna teach us? Dan? Dan? Dan?
So I just have one question, though, is that the
thing is is that you know in this trail, like
he goes he goes on and on about how I'm
not a teacher, I'm not a teacher. In the first one,
(19:21):
he leaves to go back to top Gun to be
with Kelly McGillis not that they gotta explain what happens
to be in a relationship. But I mean he went
back to be an instructor, right, he went back to
doing that, so okay, But now he tried. Now he's
not a teacher. Is that what it's gonna be? Probably
while I tried. And then now you got Jennifer Connelly
in there. I mean, there's so much going on. He's
Penny Benjamin. She plays Penny Benjamin. I went Blisted one,
Admiral's daughter, Penny Benjamin. She's Penny Benjamin. They're bringing her back.
(19:44):
You just mentioned in the original again, if there was
a movie, I'd be so excited about this. Can I
tell you this just in a quick uh? You know,
the The Search h July eight was the first trailer
of m I'm telling you there's no movie. There's no movie.
They shot this movie. They shot this movie. I'm not
(20:06):
I'm not, I'm not kidding. They shot this movie and
I think they finished sometime in the spring of eighteen.
That's when they finished shooting this movie. Then, of course,
you know what's got to go to post for a
few months and they gotta finish in everything. But they
shot this movie in somebody has started college and graduated
before this movie has come out. It's um, that's the
(20:29):
next level stuff right there. But that's okay, right, I mean,
never mind that you haven't been able to recoup any
of your production costs in this and everybody still had
to get paid out, and all the union guys had
to end. Women had to get paid out. Tom Cruise
got his payout. Look and hopefully, I mean he contractually
(20:53):
he he opted for percentages so that you didn't have
to put too much up front, you know, like deferred
payments like we're doing in the nf fell now. Yeah,
oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You got a little bit
of a signing bonus and then everything else is deferred
with your back end points. If there was a movie,
I'd be very excited. I was so excited I wanted
to oil myself up so I could be in the
(21:13):
beach football scene now, because I'm doing a beach football scene,
not a beach volleyball scene now to be I want
to just oil myself up and go, yeah, look at me,
I look like the rock. I'm ready for that. Beach foot,
that beach football scene right now, give me some of that.
I'm ready to go. Maybe they'll use one small enough
that you're panda hands could throw it. You know, if
they used the Duke Junior, I'd be okay Duke ball. No,
(21:36):
forget if the Duke Junior. See how you got Duke
back into the show just that fast? Hey you know what, hey, hey, hey,
remember if Duke wins the tournament, I win the bracket
challenge here at Fox Sports Radio, and I win the television.
So I mean, I want to remind you know, I
don't say it that often, but you know, if Duke wins,
I win the bracket challenging. You know, I set you
(21:56):
guys a link to an article off Yahoo, uh from
earlier that I thought was appropriate to bring up here.
Uh talking about you know, around Raleigh Durham and people
who are stressing out if they're getting married this weekend
about you know, the focus of their guests and their
ability to you know, have the day still be about them.
(22:17):
I say this, you had no faith in your teams.
You deserve what you get. No, that's that's like that's
like yeah exactly, that's like your sent off your wedding
in the fall and agreeing to that, and it's like, oh, wait,
Alabama's playing l s U. What Oh that's stuck up
on us. No, that's like me scheduling my wedding for
Bobby Benia day. Why would I do that? I want
(22:38):
to want to do that. You if you needed to
wait one more week. You can't go to one more week.
You can't be a Duke of Carolina fan and schedule
your wedding for Final four weekend. What's wrong with you that?
That's just dumb, That's just that's your own fault. I'm Solida.
But you know what, so you went down into the
ball of hate with me. I thought you were gonna say,
(23:00):
but they wouldn't know. You have to have faith that
your team's getting there and before you think it's not
a real thing. Do you know how many weddings I
remember because of the game that was on that I
watched in the bar while the wedding was going on. Sure,
Oh wait, wait a Notre Dame Penn States and tied
in the fourth quarter. I'm gonna get a drink. I'll
be why is there nobody on the dance? I'll be bad?
(23:22):
Ye like fifty people are watching the one TV and
you grabbed either the bride or the groom and you
and you walked them over and said, you know that
guy doesn't have a big screen, that the game is
still on. There we go. Everybody's gathering up, not to
mention there at the bar, so they're getting beers handed
to them while they're watching the game. The dance floor
(23:43):
will be there until you know it's clothing. Clothing. Hey, listen,
you made the cash bar. I'm helping you out. Get
off my back right you're charging me for drinks. I'm
gonna watch it on that watch. That's a whole other problem.
If you do that, you got and you don't don't
do it. Why are you doing that to your guests?
If you're a valued customer, you deserve a simple gesture
of appreciation from your credit card company. And that's why
I discovered matches. All the cash back you've earned at
(24:05):
the end of your first year discover exceptionally common sense.
Learn more at discover dot com. Slash match limitations they
do apply well. Big change in the NFL today. As
now it's gonna be much easier for the Jets to
win the Super Bowl because over time is different now
for the playoffs, only spurred on by the fact that
Josh Allen didn't get the football at the end of
(24:27):
the game against the Chiefs that it was so sad.
The NFL has decided in the playoffs regardless as to
what happens, both teams now will get a possession in
overtime if if the if the first team drives down
to scores a touchdown, other team gets the ball back.
All the way through all because hey, let's overreact to
a great game. Uh, that is being overly viewed as
(24:52):
this game is changing the NFL, right, because you saw
everybody loading up different reasons in the NFL this offseason,
because how are you gonna beat the chief East in
the build? Look at these teams. The offenses were hot.
It was one game on one day, and it was
a great one and it was flipping fantastic, and we
spent four hours talking about it the next day. But
to think that suddenly, no, that's now it's gonna be
(25:13):
in the NFL, that's just stupid, all right. It's what
was one game on one day, That's what it was, okay,
and and now we're gonna overreact to everything. The NFL
the rules for overtime were fine, right, you flip the coin,
you get the ball, you go, You have sixty minutes
to win the football game. You don't do it, Okay,
then you want it. Then you want to make it
a little bit fairer. Okay, great, Why don't you just
(25:35):
say each team gets the ball or we don't. We're
gonna play a whole quarter and see how it goes.
Why can't you do that this whole Well, one team
gets the ball, but if the first team scores, the
game is over. Now both Now, both teams will at
the ball. If the first team kicks the field goal,
the other team gets the ball back. It's been a
blank show from the beginning how they have decided to
(25:56):
treat over time. And still it's not good enough for
the regular season, but we're doing it in the playoffs.
What the hell kind of crap is that? Really? I mean,
how good of a rule is it where we're only
going to do it for the playoffs, one for the
regular season. I don't know. Doesn't mean that's great that
we're gonna do it for the playoffs, but we're not
gonna do it for the regular season. What what if
(26:16):
it's a game in week seventeen where a team needs
to win and get in if they lose their out
and at all, we didn't get the ball with Zach
Wilson doesn't get the ball in overtime, and he and
DK Metcalf were really hot three touchdowns during the day.
You see what I'm doing here? Hey, Hey, what's happen?
They intend to take care of things. This is such
a lot. I mean, I I don't get how the
NFL biffs overtime the way they do. They don't listen
(26:39):
to anybody for anything. Anytime there's a public outcry, they
go yeah, yeah, well yeah, we'll take it under advisement,
and then they just don't do anything. But because of
two games, because Brett Farve didn't get the ball at
the end of the NFC championship game against the Saints,
and now Josh Allen didn't get the ball at the
end of the a f C title game or the
divisional playoff game against the Chiefs, Now we gotta change it.
(27:00):
And we can't even make a change where it looks
like it's a permanent thing. We're gonna change in order
to change it later. And it's not good enough. For
the regular season. What are they doing? What How do
you get in the room and say, this is a
great idea. You know, if they came out of this
with you know, we're gonna do instead. Each team is
going to get a shot for shot two point conversion
and and when someone gets the advantage, the game is over. Hey,
(27:21):
give me that, right, give me that. Then you're talking
about a Then you're talking about an offense or a
defense on the field for five more plays. Right, you're
not talking about, Oh, we're worried about the athletes and
they're playing so and five quarters are so long to do? Okay?
Then alternating two point conversions, and then you're probably on
the field for five plays at the most right, team
a goes, if they score, the other team's got to
score to keep it going. If they don't score, the
(27:42):
game is over. If the first team goes and doesn't score,
second team scores, game is over. That's how you do it.
And you're on the field for five plays. It's pressure,
it's awesome, it's exciting. It's every play gives you something
that you're gonna stand by and chew the end of
your fingernails off something like that. Give me but no,
but now this, well, both teams are gonna get the ball,
but it's only gonna be in the in overtime, not
the regular season. I can't get over how the NFL
(28:05):
has just blown overtime for the entire time it's been here.
How to make changes to it, the fact they don't
listen to anybody, And now we're gonna overreact to these
two games and say yeah, now we're gonna change the
product again. And and NFL teams are getting this memo
going whatever. Man, I'm not even gonna look at it.
I don't even ca I'm just crumbling up and throwing
it away. I don't even care. It's trash every time
we do this. And here's five five suggestions, all with,
(28:29):
all right, and then you gotta go for two and
then you can only get one ft down on the
sideline and you have to do the icky shuffle before
you go out of bounds. I mean, come on, what
are we doing here? What are we doing here? I
I like Mike Tomlin's approach. I'm a sudden death guy.
I'll always be a sudden death guy. Kick the ball off,
play some damn defense. And anybody that was like, did
(28:50):
you see those two teams on that day, I'm like, right,
triple underscore italic size and get the damn thing blanket
tattooed on your ask that says on the at circumstance
in that game, it was a one off. It was
a one off. And yes, again, those guys all get
paid to play defense. So just because everything's offense, offense, offense,
(29:14):
screw that fifteen minute quarter. Play it to the end.
If you got to saddle it up again, do it again.
I kind of like yours. Just do uh two point conversions?
That's it. That would have been so great, and that
that's it. Because you've got commercial breaks after each one.
You build it in it's like, oh, they didn't convert,
(29:35):
what's the opponent gonna do next? But first a word,
Hey there's the Verizon girl again. You know, I mean,
come on, you know, I really okay, I don't need
another Lily commercial. I really don't. Okay. I was kind
of joking because they didn't not Now that now they've
got Zoe Dish andell In for Lily, I don't need
another Lily commercial. But you know what you do is
you do those commercials that run side by side, right,
(29:56):
You have a certain amount of time, break and go,
and and then you run it next to it. You know,
how much more money could you make on that? How
much more money could you make on that? Because no
one's tuning away from that, No one's tuning away from right.
But the point is they're all opportunities to do it
and it's still rapid fire, right and and to the
point of player safety, because you know, we gotta get
that in just to show, hey, look what we're doing.
(30:16):
We're amending this for player safety. Fewer plays, right if
if you're not done by five, five players, maybe maybe
it gets out to seven if you're really creative. I
mean Taysom Hill, it will be an absolute monster in
these kind of games as a tight end and each back.
But because he had a quarterback anymore, in case you
(30:37):
missed that, he's now getting paid as much as guys
that got franchise. Tag uh to be a converted tight end.
But I don't I don't mean to be label The
point the the idea is that it'll be quick and
painless for all involved, and you'll get your win and
move on. Only in the playoffs, though, Jason so Zach
Wilson and company better come to play early on in
(30:58):
the season. Be order to catch live editions of The

apply well. The owners meetings have brought in us, have
brought in us, have brought us. Broughton is not a
word brought us That is the greatest word, broughten us Broughton, Broughton, Broughton.
I'm sure word brought in reasonal dialects as a past
tense and past artist able to bring if largely considered nonstandard.
(32:26):
See like like I always tell you just saying, there's
probably been enough people that have made that error that
they just had out of hell with it. Put it
in there, brought in the word like I'm sure there's
a song that uses broughton because they needed to rhyme
with something else like forgotten thought. Broughten is a good word.
I'm sure that's been in the worm. There you go. Substandard,
past tense, and bring is what it says in Webster.
(32:51):
It was ill gotten and I was brought in. Okay, Uh,
we've gotten a lot of great content for in the
NFL owners meetings. We're gonna get to over the course
of the next hour. We got big time f them
nick stories coming your way. But Patriots owner Bob Kraft
was upset today. How upset was he? Well, he talked
about how disappointed he was that last couple of years
(33:14):
of player the Patriots haven't really been, you know, playoff
type teams, and the want want to get better. Take
a listen. It bothers me that we haven't been able
to win a playoff game in the last three years.
And I look forward to hopefully having a great draft
this year. That's the only way you can build your
team for long term and consistently that you have a
(33:39):
chance of winning. Uh. You know what, Bob Kraft, it's
your fault where it You had the best quarterback in
the history of the NFL, and because he couldn't get
along with Bill Belichick, you chose Belichick over Brady, and
you let Brady leave where he went and won the
Super Bowl and got back to the playoffs again. So
it's your fault. I have no sympathy for you. I
(34:01):
have no say, oh, you know, boys really been just disappointing.
You had the best quarterback that any of us have seen,
better than Montana, better than Elway, and you just I'm
disappointed when you make the players you let him go.
You had the best guy in the league who's gonna
play until he's fifty, and you decided, Uh, there's too
much drama we have to let him leave. And and
(34:23):
I'm sorry, I got no sympathy for you. And at
the end, you know what, it's more your own fault
that you couldn't find a way to keep this team together, right,
because I always say about teams that that have regrets
at the end. Oh, you know, you gotta be able
to put your differences aside and come together and play well.
You know what, Belichick and Brady could have found a
way to do that. They're gonna keep finding a way
to do that. But no, Belichick wouldn't change his ways.
(34:44):
Brady wouldn't change his way. You couldn't find a way
to make it work when most other teams try. No,
no, no no, this is all your fault. It's all your fault,
so you don't have playoff success. It's completely on you.
And I'm actually pointing while I'm doing this, pointing out
the window to nobody, but I am pointing it is
on you, the colloquial Bob Craft. I'm pointing to you
in the direction of Boston, which is north and east
(35:05):
where I am right now. I think I'm pointing north
and east. It is your fault. What do we always yell,
you gotta keep your composure and recognize what you have.
It's a general life lesson, but certainly in sports where
things are fleeting and these careers end so quickly. You
had something that ran two decades. And guess what he's
like the energazz or Bunny. He keeps on going right,
(35:27):
he's got rechargeable batteries that are always always fresh. And
for Robert Kraft, he may have the quarterback right, but
the rest of it, you know, takes a step down.
Like we're talking about carrying teams, you know, looking at
Lebron and the Lakers right now, well Brady still was,
especially in that division. He was still carrying them to
(35:47):
where you were getting playoff runs. And not that they
didn't make an appearance, but you know, you just get
spoiled by sustained success to that level, but not being
able to get everybody in the room and just say,
all right, we gotta ride this out for as long
as as long as we we can, because we're we're
not promised getting back right, and and that's commerheads prevail,
(36:10):
that's heightened sight being. I would love, I mean, not
some book you know of interpretations after they want to
be in the room where it can be the fly
on the wall. Use my time heist if I get
one to go into those rooms to hear those disguns
as these departure actually actually happened. Twitter at how about
(36:30):
a fresca Mike gets swollen down the Jason Smith or
with Mike Carman, it's your fault where it where the
whole Like like Jason Giambies golden thong when you strike
out five times and you know what, take some guts
and uh security to where the golden thong. Just saying
we have a great f those pick stories coming your
way in the NFL. This is Fox where it
