(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio. Welcome
inside final hour of The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Congratulations, you played itself and how
many times have we seen it? How many times do
you guys make a great play? He leads off, how
many times have you seen? The end of the night

(00:45):
for the Lakers and the Clippers, and things really get bizarre.
Paul George comes back with a big night and the
Clippers come from behind to beat the Jazz. The Lakers
lose again and Russell Westbrook has yet another bizarre press cott.
We're gonna bring you some of that audio coming up
in about twenty minutes. The Lakers losing tonight uh by

(01:05):
eighteen to the Mavericks in the game that yeah, they did,
they did. So if you had the Lakers, and you
were getting twenty, you're feeling pretty good game betting you
probably did. Okay, yeah, but don't end game betting with
doesn't end game betting with the Lakers start at getting twenty.
I mean I think it begins with that. They tipped
the ball off. I get twenty points. Okay, Now I

(01:27):
have to go back and look at what the odds were.
Oh you never know, you dude, hold on, okay, Oh
you actually go Okay when you say that, I thought, like, no,
metaphorically you were saying it. No, you're actually going to
do it, alright. Uh Lakers were plus eleven and a half. Okay,

(01:50):
al right, over under of too nineteen point five. All right,
that works. All right, that's that that works. So there
you go. Well, you know, so you got got your over.
They took care of business for you there. Uh and
then probably in game would have been interesting to watch
how high it got, because at one point they were
down thirty two. Yes, then you would have been able

(02:12):
to say, all right, hey, I want to double down.
Why I just have a feeling. I gotta feeling. Uh.
So we'll have more on that story. You'll hear from
Russell Westbrook coming up a little bit. Who just walked
off his press conference at the end, Well he did.
He did shake the man's hand and give him a
little bit of a hug. So it was contentious as

(02:33):
it starts. It's just so bizarre. Yeah, it's well, but
it's every day now. That's the problem with it at
this point is it just keeps getting back to the
same back and forth, like all right, we we did this.
I mean, it's it's Westbrook. Someone asked what needs to change?
And we'll hear you'll hear the audience playing up. But
just just to give you a bit of a window

(02:56):
in it, is that he's asked by a reporter, Hey,
what do you think he needs a change the last
few games? He goes, nothing, we gotta keep playing games.
What would you change? He asked reporter again, what would
you change? Then he gets up and walks away, but
he gives him a hug and walked away. It's so
reporter responds, and it's it's faint, but he responds with
winning it's so just bizarre, How bizarre? How bizarre? How about?

(03:21):
Who did? How bizarre? Who does? How bizarre? How bizarre?
How bizarre? Not? Omm okay, very good? See I know
my O MCS and O M D S O m C.
How bizarre O M D if you leave the theme
from Pretty and Pink, Yeah, you can find that on now.

(03:41):
That's what I call music volume thirty four. Going back
to wait a volume thirty four? What are they on now?
Like nine thousand eighty two Ye Had Wanna Be by
the Spice Girls, followed by Freedom by Robbie Williams, Uh
Myster Peter Andre and Bubbler featuring Bubbler Ranks Never heard
of him Enough by Dodgy. Yeah, I don't know. Hey,

(04:05):
theme from Mission Impossible credited too Oh you too, Yeah,
but it's just credited to Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton.
So take that well. Bono doesn't sing. There's no lyrics
to Mission Impossible. But that's the thing that that means
he and He in the Edge they got no credit
for it, at least on Now. That's what I call
music okay, because there's that He doesn't open up by
saying Mission impossible, Mission Impossible. If he did, if he

(04:31):
hit it with a big falsetto, it would have been great. Hey.
Track twenty six is called Peacocks Suit by Paul Weller
with or without Mission Impossible, With or without Mission Impossible,
hate you. I can't watch Mission Impossible too because it's
such a bad movie. Number six is probably the make

(04:57):
it stop, Make it stop tight shirt, Make It Stop.
Number six. Mission Impossible comes in the name of Number seven,
starring Henry Cavin. We're freestyle in the YouTube songs from
the eighties who rock and Roll Everybody. Um. Hey, so

(05:17):
a big change is coming to the NFL next season,
but only for the playoffs, which tells you what a
blank show has been. How the NFL has decided to
deal with overtime since they had to change it a
few years ago. Uh, there's going to be a change
in how NFL games are decided in overtime, but only
in the playoffs. Regardless as to what happens, both teams

(05:41):
will get one possession, even if the first team scores
a touchdown. Uh. You know, in the playoffs, Zach Wilson
will get another chance to try to throw a touchdown
a DK metcalf probably third or fourth of the game. Uh,
to tie the game and continue to make the game going. This,
of course, a response to the Bills Chiefs game, which

(06:02):
was one of the best NFL games we've seen in
years where the Bills never got the ball in overtime.
And so now the NFL had to make a decision.
We need to make this where both teams get the
ball in overtime. You know, the NFL has just completely
butchered this from the beginning, and it's really anti brand
of nflcu Usually the NFL, they hear complaints all the

(06:24):
time and change and they go yeah, yeah, great, yeah,
and then they just don't do anything. Yeah yeah, yeah,
I'll think about it, and then they walk away. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
they don't do anything. But Brett Farve doesn't get the football.
And the end of the NFC Championship game against the
UH Saints back in two thousand nine, and it's you
have to change this, Oh, how do you not change overtime? Fine,

(06:45):
so in overtime the first team, if they kick a
field goal, the other team gets the ball. But if
they score a touchdown the game is over. How ridiculous
is that? And now, well, wait a minute, Josh Allen
should have gotten the football. That's so unfair. I can't
believe it. Okay, now we'll change it, so both teams
get the football great, it's a universal change. No, not
during the regular season, Well why not during the right No,

(07:07):
we're only gonna do it for the playoffs. The NFL
just cannot get overtime right. And it's such a blank show,
and it's it's one of the big Achilles heels. That's
something that would seem pretty easy. You just can't do it.
And there's all these why does it need to be
so crazy? Yes, why does it need to be? Well,
you can score a touchdown in a two point conversion
and that could end overtime. But why does it? Why

(07:28):
can't it just be we're gonna play an extra quarter?
What can't it be that way? What can't we just
do that? Why couldn't from the beginning it had been
each team gets the ball once? Why couldn't Why couldn't
we stay with the old one? Why couldn't we have
gone to what the best overtime would have been, which
is just, hey, alternating two point conversions and whoever winds up? Uh,
you know, like the first team goes, they score two
point conversion, next team's got to score to keep it going.

(07:50):
Why can't we do that? Because then you're you're you're
you're serving everybody you want to serve the players can't
complain that all we're playing so many more plays. No,
you're playing about five more plays right by that time
it will get decided and it's something incredibly interesting, and
you're living and dying with every play. Networks can jam
in all the the advertising they want with a thirty
second commercial in between plays. When an offense leaves the field,

(08:13):
the offensive defense come on the field. That's easy. Why
can't you make it easy? Why does it need to
be this incredibly complex? Of all these things that come
up that are proposed by teams are just stupid. But
the NFL, I mean, look, even in doing this, the NFL,
they make you say, we don't know what we're doing
because it's good enough for the playoffs, but it's not
good enough for the regular season. Why is it not

(08:33):
good enough for the regular season? Why can't we have no, no, no,
can't have this. We gotta end the games? What what? Wait?
I think it would be fair to the So it's
not fair to the team in the playoffs, but it's
fair to the team in the regular same it's okay
for a team to lose a game that could cost
them the playoffs in the regular season, but they can't
cost them the actual game in the playoffs. Again, I

(08:54):
present to you the National Football League. I appreciate your
two point conversion process there. I think that way you
want to talk about getting get them on, get him over,
get them in. UH. That that's the way you end
games fast. If you're Rob Manford and you like pace
of play, plus you get all those extra time outs,
you know, to go and and fire up as many

(09:16):
ads as you can. May could make it like a
NASCAR fire suit where there's just different logos all over
the place. What happened to my screen? There are eight
commercials running it once we sold advertising time to all
of them. We'll see which one your brain fixates on, uh,
and we'll move from there. But I like sudden death.
I I love just going back to that. But I'm

(09:38):
a nerd uh in that regard. Right. I agree with
Mike Tomlin, like you get the ball, play defense, make
a stop right saying that you have this outlier, this
great game between Kansas City and Buffalo, and you have
to have the knee jerk reaction. It's like it was
an outlier. It was a fantastic game, A fantast pastic

(10:00):
moment for the for the sport too young quarterbacks, top
of their game, going all over the place. But you
know the defenders get paid too, so make a play.
But here you want to do this seems that that
the regular season should not get the short stick and
all of this right, then the shortest straw if we

(10:22):
want to grab them the short short shrift is tough
to say. I will give you. Yeah, No, it's like,
you know, it's what my brain was going down two tracks.
I was trying to figure out that I want a
random analogy. Wasn't just going to use a cliche? Did
I did? I matched them both, Yeah, I did, And
then I slashed my words together. Like I said, Shrift
is a difficult word to say because if you mess

(10:43):
it up, it could sound like something else. Don't well know,
And that's it. You want to make sure you're enunciating properly.
Even if it is safe harbor, it's still not safe
for that word still could be It could be David Harbor.
You want to make sure you're safe. No, that's that's
very good. Or you down and say t Harbor near Clearwater, Florida,
where my parents see it all it all comes together.

(11:05):
But the idea that you've got to keep tinkering with
this as well is asinine to me. Right, uh, well,
we had one outcome that we weren't happy with. All right,
let's take all your suggestions on this again. The suggestion
box is overflowing. With overtime rules, we can't get the
rest of the stuff right. We still don't know what

(11:26):
it catches. Half the time, we're still guessing about first
downs when guys dive into a twenty man pile. Did
you get that extra two? Itgit don't know who's got
the fumble? No idea, but hey, let's let's take her
with overtime rules from some more because that so much

(11:46):
more offense. Why can't we just do it? Well? You know,
there's certain problems where where if you're in charge of it,
you have to say, all right, you know what, I
don't want this thing on my desk again. How do
we take care of it for good? I never want to.
I'll deal with it now, but I never want to
deal with it again. Why couldn't to do it that way?
I mean really, because now what you've done is you've
become beholden to the next event that a team seems

(12:08):
to be wronged by right and and and to have
to do it because of the Bills Chiefs game. I mean,
let's be honest. As a population, we are overvaluing the
impact of this game on the National Football League. Okay,
this was a great game, right, this is a great game.
But what do we see in the a f C. Oh,
how are we gonna beat these teams? We gotta look

(12:28):
look how good they are. Neither of these teams made
it to the super Bowl. But the Saints game where
they went and they changed how the review happened where
we got one of these Now, but this is this
is like at least that it was well, one team
could have been in the super Bowl. This was at
least well you know what we we these neither teams

(12:50):
made it to the Super Bowl. Neither of these teams did. Right,
So but let's go crazy because this just happened to
be a great game where the offenses were work king right,
Because if this is a defensive game and it was
ten ten and the and the Chiefs got the ball
in overtime and went down to score, it would have
been Chiefs win. Would not have been Oh, how does

(13:11):
Josh Allen not get the ball back. We only say
he needed the ball back because he was having a
good game. That's the only reason why. Because the Bill's
offense was great. If it was a ten ten game
in overtime, we wouldn't have this because it was a
great game offensively. We want to overreact to it, right,
We overreacted to it for overtime. Teams are overreacting to
it for how they're loading up. We gotta spend all
this money on here and here and here. Hey, and

(13:32):
don't get me wrong, it's fun, but um, every game
is not gonna be like this. Okay, every game is
not like this. The teams admitted to the Super Bowl
did not play like this, right, this was this was
a one moment in time, one of the greatest games
in NFL history, and that's where it's gonna stay. Right.
It could have been a great defensive game. We don't
get this is one But let's overreact to one game.
And that's why we are where we are. And this

(13:53):
is why it's so anti and off brand for the
NFL because they never knee jerk react to something, but
here they are. Now. We gotta do it. I gotta
change it. And now we gotta make a change. It
still is ridiculous because it's good for the playoffs, but
not the regular season. This is the NFL. Well, everything
else they just squash, and I hope something else happens
to push it away, right, Like, hey, we we're talking
about this now instead of heys Will Smith getting his

(14:16):
oscar taken away tomorrow, because if that's the story, people
will forget about this tomorrow Will Smith his oscar. But
look at it, You got this story, while you've got
some leak video of Deshaun Watson's deposition, while you still
have the owners meeting and people pissed about that contract
and what it means to the league. I mean, hell,
talk about the Ravens and and the kind of answers

(14:39):
they're given about Lamar Jackson, which might be some of
the dumbest things I've ever heard. All of that gets
squashed by let's fight about the overtime rules somewhere because
we can put more on that, and people love to
argue and debate and come up with what their best
system is. That's perfect. Meanwhile, over here, it's like nobody's
talking about this, right, Okay, just put it in at

(15:00):
file folder into that cabinet, and I hope we don't
need to look at it again. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. Gentlemen, this
is Top nineteen competition for the Top Gun Show. If
he remains tight first place, Ice Man, second place Maverick

(15:22):
just two points behind. The new trailer is out the
Top Gun Maverick trailer is outands uh no, good, Come on, man,
we can't bring Goose back. That would be that would
be something you left me for dead the ocean your right?
Dare you know this? Come on? They'd be like the
Undertaker comes back to the dirt. This is of the

(15:44):
head out of the ocean. This is not a Marvel
movie where if you're dead, you're not really dead. You're
kind of just dead for a while. Unless you're quicksilver man.
You really got the short end of the stick. There,
no no, no Goose is he was really fast until
he wasn't. Goose's fault right up the canopy. He was
supposed to that. You're not supposed to do him both
at the same time. It's not Maverick's fault. They went

(16:05):
through this whole thing. I know that in the movie
Miles Teller hates him and holds Maverick responsible. They spoiler alert. Well,
he's already spoiling this movie. Every trailer. Miles Teller is
angry and pointing at Tom Cruise. He's don't know, man,
I get the feeling. Jason, you just don't want Goose
to come back. Listen, you can't this. It's not that

(16:28):
kind of movie. Man. It sounds like you don't it's not.
Are we gonna find out where Tom Cruise is playing?
Is going to crash land on on an island and
he's gonna try to figure out to get rescued. And
Goose is there and he's been there for so long. Oh,
I was in the ocean. I swam and it's the
island that Tom Hanks was on. And over there, over there,

(16:50):
Surewood's shorts is bringing back Gilling Island. Damn Little Bundy, dude,
they tied into Jurassic No, that's not that's it's not that.
Welcome to dress far now, Jeff Goldblue Goose finds a way. No,

(17:13):
it's not that. First of all, First of all, no.
First of all, there's no movie. Okay, I'd be excited
if there was a movie. There's no movie. We've been
seeing trailers for this for four years now, four years
they supposedly shot this movie. There's no Top Cruise was
like years old at the time. I know there's no movie.
There's no movie. There's there's no movie. It's just trailers.

(17:36):
They keep shooting because just to get people off their back. Well,
now people are wondering, hey, oh is that Top Gun
movie coming out? Here? Here you go, will give you
another trailer to make you think things are great. Look,
it's supposed to come out. Here's what's gonna happen. Is
gonna come. You're gonna go to the theater. You're gonna
buy your tickets. They're gonna play the trailer from Top Gun. Maverick, Oh,
this is pretty cool. Then they're gonna play trailers from

(17:58):
other movies that you're gonna forget it out Top Gun.
You all look at this. Here's a new Marvel movie,
and here's a trailer for this trailer. And then after
like a hundred minutes of trailers, they're gonna play the
Top Gun theme over the credits at the end. You're
gonna walk out and go, man, that was pretty cool.
There's no movie. Since Tom Cruise is being rumored to

(18:18):
be part of the Marvel Cinematic Uni universe, maybe Top
Gun is actually part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Boom,
I just blew your mind comes back. If that's the
trailer in an alternate timeline, all of a sudden, there
he is. Listen if that's in the trail. If that's
in the trailer, are people gonna care if they get

(18:38):
Top Gun two or not? Whoa Tom Cruise in the
m c U. That's what people are gonna leave the
theater at that point. They're gonna walk out and go, Yeah,
I don't need to see this more. Tom. I gotta
get on social media. Tom Cruise is gonna be in
the m c U. There's no If there was a movie,
I would be very excited. But there's I know there's
not because I can't say here you call okay. Now
it's gotten pushed and postponed again and again there's no movie.

(19:00):
There's no movie. Would be great, though, is if there
is some sort of movie experience, whether it's an hour
and a half, a trailers or whatever. It doesn't matter.
But then they show the credits, and then there's the
post credits scene with Tom Cruise. He's still in his
jacket on his motorcycle and he just winks at the camera.
It's like, wait, is it a Marvel movie or is
it not? What am I doing? Now? There you go.

(19:22):
That's the way to get your Memorial week Memorial Day
Weekend started right there. There's there's no movies. There's no movie.
I'm telling you, man, I wish there was. I'd be
very excited if there was, because now Ice Man is
gonna be in it in some way, shape or form.
I mean, I'm sure if I'm I'm just guessing here,
and I can guess because there's no movie, but I'm
guessing that he's the guy whose funeral they seem to

(19:44):
be going to in the trailer. And there's probably a
flashback scene with Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer like like
you know, the shot in almost present day. But I
I somebody's got to die, right, it's ironside part of this. No,
you really that upset if if Jester died, Yeah, Jester's dead.
I don't think you would be. Yeah, I would be.

(20:06):
I don't know. I I it seems like it's gonna
be a retelling of Top Gun a little bit, except obviously,
you know, Tom Cruise is a star being the the instructor.
But there's got to be a big death, right because
Goose was the big death and Thudd's gotta be a
big death here. Wow, I mean it has to be right.
You gotta gotta be some kind of steaks. Man. You
don't go up there if you're going off Bobby Night. Now, hey,

(20:27):
what you do up there? It's dangerous, you know sometimes
that happens. We know that, know that from the movie. Yeah,
that is. Any little rite up of this movie tells
you how dangerous it is. You have such a small
percentage of pilots are up for the task. I'll tell you. Yeah,
it's it's a it's if there was a movie. There's
a lot of questions, but again, trust me, there's no movie. Manager.

(20:49):
As soon as Goose was about to die, he got
teleported to a different world and thus turned into Thanos.
Or no, if he's just on a different or you
have to keep finding the earth where Goose is alive,
scoost alive in this earth Goose? Oh from Top Guns. Okay,
see I'm leaving. He's not going to be fans. Why not, man,
because that's ridiculous. I mean, that was one of the
great things from the oscars the other day. I mean

(21:11):
it was kind of weird. The here let me let
me check you out and all, but uh, the Roland

(22:18):
FM picks offer for DK Metcalf. All right, let's listen
to a little bit of Pete Carroll from earlier today
at the NFL owners meetings. Now that they've traded Russell Wilson,
there's rumors DK Metcalf could be on the trading block.
And here was Pete Carroll and listen to the trigger
words he uses about Metcalf. Hopefull. We intend for him
to do with this same We looked to him figure

(22:39):
that out. So we're in the mom had a moved
this time of year. You know nothing to that topic
yet as pacifically, because you've got some of everything's wrong,
but we'd love to have there's no way on that
senter play without we intended to have him. We'd love
to have him. That's not DK Metcalf's on our team.
This is call me, guys, call me right now. Give

(23:01):
me an f M picks offer for DK Metcalf, and
he could be yours. We've heard this with Russell Wills
at Ohio. We we don't intend to trade Russell Wilson.
And then they traded him. So yeah, making F them
picks offer for DK Metcalf. I say all the time,
Mike wide receiver is a very replaceable position. We talked
about it with Tavante Adams. But DK Metcalf is twenty four.

(23:22):
He's not twenty eight hitting on another contract. He's twenty four,
he's ascending. He led the league in touchdowns last year.
This is a guy you can make an FM picks
offer four and it's not gonna be a crazy F
them picks offer like it was for some other guys,
so you will be he is absolutely gettable. I call
the Seahawks right now because you know what the Seahawks
are starting over, and when you're starting over at all

(23:44):
these different positions, you don't have room for a guy
that's gonna need to make twenty million dollars a year.
You don't have room for that kind of player at
wide receiver. So you need to move on and get
picks and continue to rebuild. So yeah, I call him.
Make an FM picks offer for DK Metcalf. Yeah, I
mean he fits most, especially as he's getting towards the
end of that first contract as a guy that you

(24:04):
pick up. As you know when you've got your quarterback
who's still fresh and making next to nothing. Right, I mean,
you look at some of these spots that makes sense.
It's it's teams that have drafted their quarterback the last
year or two. There's some cat movement uh and and
availability to them. But for Seattle there clearly in a

(24:28):
if nothing else, say at the hair down, I don't know,
like rebuild altogether. Yeah, I guess. I mean, what what
do you have that really stands out on that roster
right now? Jamal Adams? No, I'm sorry you said what
stands out? Well, it does because you gave up so
much to get him and now you're paying him. Uh

(24:50):
so it's you. Well, I mean, look, you could I
left it open ended. You can take it as a
positive or negative. But you have Rashad Petty that you
brought back, and right now you have the two wide receivers.
Right those are your three standouts on the roster as
it currently uh sits and with wide receivers many coming

(25:11):
in in the draft, and with you completely let's call
what it is. You're not going into this season where
you stand right now? Going you know what Geno Smith
or Drew lock has taken us to the promised Land
that that ain't it. I mean, I'd like that because look,
if you can add anytime you add more viable quarterbacks,
that's great. But uh, look that would be grossly overselling.

(25:34):
Uh the abilities, the aptitude of both those players and
really their coaches ability to get them and scheme them up.
So what do you have. You have two wide receivers
that you can go get a mountain of draft picks
to to add on, maybe get a player or two
to shore up your interior as you go, But the
quarterback isn't there. And if you don't have the quarterback,

(25:54):
having the high end receiver is a nice luxury, but uh,
it's a necess sery in in the moment when you
can go back into the draft and get someone and
try to, you know, find that lightning in a bottle again,
because Schneider and Carroll, that's what they're trying to do
right now right there. They're basically starting from scratch from
when the Russell Wilson era began to rebuild and reload

(26:17):
and see if they can't make all the right picks
that they did all those years ago, right where all
of the guys came in ticked off because they were
mid round picks. Late round picks are undrafted guys that
were brought in, they overachieved. You've got the legion of boom,
all great players, but it all coalesced perfectly, and then

(26:37):
guess what, they all had to get paid and you
move on. So for for DK Metcalf, Yeah, there's a
very active market out there, and certainly a number of teams,
uh that are looking to add that one last piece
to at least say hey, we're we're viable right now
and where the window may be closing on them as well.

(26:58):
All right, so let's go through a few teams here
that should make an f them picks offering teams that
shouldn't because you kind of have to have a lot
going for you to make this offer. You have to
have your quarterback in place. Uh, you have to it's
gonna be it's gonna be a team that can make
a big jump in the standings, not a team that's
trying to figure things out if you're at a bridge
between eras. Also, you have to have the money because

(27:21):
you're gonna trade for DK Metcalf under the assumption you're
gonna g him a big deal. So the teams that
should definitely make an F them picks offer for DK Metcalf.
Both you're and my team, Jets and the Bears. Jets
tried with Tyreek Hill didn't happen. The Bears to get
a guy that that Justin Fields can use his arm
strength to throw it up deep to that would be awesome.

(27:41):
The Jaguar should make that move because he would be
teamed up with Trevor Lawrence for the foreseeable future. The Eagles,
and maybe more than anybody, the Colts, absolutely make f
them picks offers because that's gonna make those teams better,
either from to become contenders or to go from contenders
to elite contenders. Those are all f those picks teams
to make those trades. Yeah, I mean, when you look

(28:03):
at both the Bears of the Jets, it's the alright,
let's see how big a leap we can make with
our second year guys by bringing them that a list receiver. Look,
Allen Robinson was there for the Bears. What happened beat
Matt Naggy happened right? He had an injury at just
as I surmise things got a bit wonky as to

(28:25):
why he wasn't coming back. Uh, and he confirmed a
lot of that on his way out the door, so
certainly that that was the case for the Jets. You
got a couple of nice pieces there. I mean, we've
talked about it a lot, and it's not me trying
to curry favor or make you feel good about yourself.
But between Moore and Carter, Uh, you got a couple
of guys uh, just at the base Uh that are

(28:47):
able to make plays. So uh, intrigue for Zach Wilson
if you can bring in the A list receiver over
the top. Well, now, now maybe we we get to
accelerate that time from Jacksonville. Same thing. Hey, you know
you're gonna have to grossly overpay to get folks to
come there. That's fine, but you give Doug Peterson another chip.
I love it. The Colts is the obvious one, right

(29:09):
because you've got whatever the window is with Matt Ryan, Right,
you're paying him a lot of money. Uh, you only
have Pittman and really not not a lot else in
that receiving care right. T Y Hilton's a free agent. Uh,
our our favorite guy, Jack Doyle retired. So you got
the running backs and a good offensive line and Michael

(29:30):
Pittman Jr. And that and that's it. So now it's
time to give him an option. So yeah, again it
goes back to the the young quarterbacks on the ascent,
trying to see if you can't push them a lot
further faster to become viable participants. And again, picks forget it,
give me the player over the picks. Picks go get

(29:54):
o time, go get up Twitter and out about a
fresco my get swollen dome. Hey, I'd say it for
the Chiefs and the Packers and the Patriots too, but
they don't have the money, so it's gonna be more difficult.
Fig Uh. Coming up next, Hey, we have one more
big NFL story from the owner's meetings. Plus you're gonna

(30:16):
hear the Russell Westbrook audio that is just so incredibly
bizarre after the Lakers lost tonight. That's next. Fox. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio
app Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my

(30:36):
best friend Mike Harmon and uh, hey, he's on the
comeback trail, but he is supposedly he's he's either going
to scout or he's gonna go playing. We're kind of
he at least played some right. He got the round,
so and all the odds moved on him. Uh. Two
stories to finish our show with tonight one. It's just
it's just something that that just gets under my skin.

(30:59):
It's today at the NFL Owners meetings, Bob Kraft was
talking about the lack of Patriots playoff success. I haven't
on a playoff game the last couple of years, and
he's kind of upset about that. Take a listen. It
bothers me that we haven't been able to win a
playoff game in the last three years. And I look
forward to hopefully having a great draft this year. That's

(31:22):
the only way you can build your team for long
term and consistently that you have a chance of winning. Yeah.
You know who I blame for that, you, Bob Kraft.
You had Tom Brady and you let him go. You
had the best quarterback any of us have ever seen,
and you decided, oh, it can't work anymore with him

(31:42):
in Belichick. So I gotta pick Bill Belichick out a Bill,
let Brady go win the Super Bowl and then go
to the playoffs again, it's on you. Own it. Nothing
happened to your team. Oh it's like, we know you
had the best quarterback ever and you decided you wanted
to let him go. Own it. It's your are fault.
Be upset with yourself. It's nobody else's fault but yours.

(32:04):
I really thought you were gonna go to the entire
Copland thing. You had the best quarterback in the game,
you had him forever, and you'll blow it. As Robert
Jennira yells at Sylvester Stallone, one of his finest roles.
The other was Steve Bashati on Lamar Jackson's lack of
urgency to negotiate an extension. Quote, it's usually unique as hell.

(32:28):
Kids so obsessed with winning a Super Bowl that I
think deep down he doesn't think he's worthy. Huh. You
just wait for that contract offer? You just way? Is
that what you think? You just wait? Oh, he wants
three hundred billion dollars guaranteed. Ya, I'm not worthy of
more than that. You just the wait if you think
that's the case. Uh so, yeah, you gotta own that. Bobcraft. Now,

(32:51):
this was clearly the most bizarre moment of the night
after the Lakers lost again. They're now technically out of
the playing round was seven game left because they lose
the tiebreaker with the Spurs. Russell Westbrook has been hearing
questions all season long about his performance a Lakers performance,
he is asked by the l A Times Brad Turner about, Hey,

(33:12):
any changes need to happen over the course of the
next seven games so the Lakers can try to win
and get in the playoffs. And here is Russell Westbrook's response,
what do you think should change witting? Okay, that's obviously.
What do you think should change wing? As? You have

(33:33):
to quick that He've been asking, happy, do you have
an as I'm not out there plan. Maybe I think
you give me the answer exactly. I don't know exactly
if you don't have it, you actually I have answered,
you don't have anything moment. I don't play hustle if
you won't get the information from you that right, it's

(33:55):
a team game, don't I don't have an answer. Okay,
I don't happen? Did he camp? I know he got
He gets up and finishes the press conference like he's mad,
Like you have an answer, like, what what would you change?
You know, and Turner says winning, but he said what
what would you what would you change? And he gets
up and you think, okay, he's really mad, and then
he hugs him at the end. Yeah, and hecase he's

(34:17):
just that's like the Lakers season in a nutshell. Here's
a here's an upset guy to press convert. He winds
up hugging the guy that asked the question. He didn't
like this is it's open? Well no, but I mean,
given the last forty eight hours, men, Russell's never never gone,
you know, beyond the line, like he'll he'll step to
you to ask would you like to clarify that? As

(34:39):
I stare at you? But I mean, I don't know.
I gotta imagine there were there were at least one
or two anxious folks because they're recording everything Russell as
he's moving right. Uh so, yeah, just just a very
weird exchange. This season can't end fast enough for these guys.
I don't think, Oh yeah, I know. They're just like,

(34:59):
can we can we hit uh? Can we hit the
fast forward button here on on the DVR? I want
to go, I want to go blie bleep all the
way to the end. We just we just want to
be done at this point. We just want to finish
full TiVo sound effect, and we want to we just
want to finish where we're done it seven games. Lebron's
not gonna play anymore, which I told you in February.
Watch what happens when the Lakers season gets to the

(35:21):
end and the Lakers look like they're going to not
make the playing around. That's when suddenly Lebron is not
gonna play it. But that that Frank Vogel quote from
before the game, right, he all but through the towel
and he was duke someone on a photo shop that
right now, Oh, I gutted us, you know, psychologically, this
was the worst of so many blows. I mean, it's

(35:43):
like an old Batman line from the uh you know
where Batman goes uh No, where he gets booed by
a kid. He turns to Rob and he said, no
blow from any arch villain has pierced me so fiercely
as that little boy's boo. Wow. Did you go back
and find that? Wow, that's impressive for Mike. I'm Jason
ben Mallow's next. This is Fox
