(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Good greetings and happy
opening day The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon, where clearly we're gonna get some kind of season.
The first run of the year's crosses the plate for
(00:44):
the Mets on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded,
buckle up is underway. Every choice ground out to nothing. Mets. Yeah,
pretty crazy day. I mean, obviously Tiger Woods will be
talking about him a lot Major League Baseball. All the
fact that get in at Wrigley Field because it was
so cold and miserable and it was was six dollars. Well,
(01:07):
look that I was talking to my friend about the
weather back here, and I did a spot in Baltimore.
They were having the same thing. We got sleet like
it's a degrees by the beach. Yeah, today it was hot.
Today is one of those days where when someone calls
it says, oh man, it's so colder. I always say
the same thing. Oh, I know exactly what you mean.
Like today I wore like a long sleeved t shirt
out because it was a little chili and it was perfect. Actually,
(01:30):
But yeah, I worry about stuff like that. No, No,
I mean, look the video of the camera that was
so blurry. The cameraman wipes it off like in between pitches.
Oh now I could see. Uh yeah, that's how cold
it was at Wrigley today. Uh, but that's opening day,
right open, It like opening They always I always feel
like it's way too early because you see the quality
of baseball and it's not quite baseball. But then I go,
(01:52):
I can't wait another month. I can't wait till May
for baseball. Come on, man. So you know, I'm kind
of it's it's a yin and yang. I'm like, I'm
I'm I'm torn in myself. I go, you know, baseball
be great if it's started in May. But I'm like,
I can't go all April with no baseball. I gotta
have baseball. Baseball is back if the Mets were losing,
I would say, forget it. Baseball has done the opening day.
We're finished. I hate baseball, blah blah blah. Exactly, yes, yes, yes,
(02:16):
Instead I'm watching the Reds. They had they interviewed Joey
Votto while he was on the field, which was kind
of odd. Did they interview Ronald Lacuna and he said
how much he hates hates hates Freddie Freeman. You know what,
he hasn't had much to say because hey, he's not
playing and b Max Free there's deep but it's not
playable jury. But the three run bomb in the sixth
(02:39):
off of So happy opening day for Major League Baseball.
It is just the celebratory day when like everybody's excited.
We are, you know, it's it's the beginning of a
new season. Everybody's got hope, even if you're in mid
season form. Sure, sure, Look the Cubs are already losing
and disappointing and they're upset. Yeah, I mean they they won.
(03:00):
And then you have the uh, the Cardinals and seventy
three year old Adam Wayne right goes out gives him
six shutout in a six strikeout in his debut and
one of the top prospects in all of Baseball's all
feel a little bit old, man, I yeah, I know
about Well. Listen, when Bobby Witt Jr. Has a kid,
(03:21):
that's when I'm gonna be worried. That's what I'm Okay, Now,
I got time for that. When he has a kid
coming in, that's gonna be Okay. Let's see, because he
was born June fourteenth of two thousand. Okay, alright, And
if you look at the profile that he has across
all the Major League Baseball stat sites, he kind of
looks like a young Errol Flynn. Wow. Now that's that's
(03:41):
that's not that's not an that's not a comparison. I
thought i'd get a little whisk any any rendition of
the Three Musketeers or swash buckling pirate. Hell, he looks
like Bucko Bruce just put a little dagger between his teeth.
(04:02):
So tonight we have our big World Series predictions. We
got surprise playoff teams, we got best value bets for
the World Series. We got Librevo masters, a tradition unlike
any other. And Day one we saw Tiger Woods play.
Say a little bit, he didn't quite have the length
off the team he normally has. You know, he was
one of those a little typical Tiger Woods days where
(04:24):
he felt like, you know, he's fighting himself a little bit.
Some parts of his game look good, some parts of
his game doesn't. But the fact he's out there, he
played the entire round, he stayed in contention. You know,
he's only three shots off the lead, you know this
what or four shots off the lead. He's he's okay.
I mean for what today could have been. It could
have been Tiger wasn't ready and and maybe he stops
(04:45):
playing after the twelfth hole and he can't walk, or
he's five overpart and you know he's going home after tomorrow. Uh,
this was a big victorious day for Tiger Woods. It
was a big day for golf and it was great,
you know seeing him play the Masters that it feels like, oh,
golf is back to normal now, you know, seeing Tiger
Woods play, you know, maybe we just needed him to
be away for a while to get more appreciation of
(05:06):
Oh yeah, Tiger Woods is still the PG eight Tour.
You know, as old as he is, getting into his
late forties, you know, he's still the PG eight Tour.
And just seeing him play it was like a breath
of fresh air. Um, so it was a really good day. Now,
when it comes to the fact, can Tiger Woods win,
I don't know that we need to look at it that, Hey,
Tiger Woods winning would be no. Yes, it would be
(05:27):
an incredible story. But you gotta be dynamic at Augusta, right,
you know, the scores go very, very low, and you know,
you see guys that are shooting five under, four under,
five under every day and for Tiger to be four
shots off after day one, okay, I expect him to
have a pretty decent day today. But now, what's it
gonna be like the rest of you just celebrate the
fact that Tiger Woods is here and he's playing, and
(05:49):
he looks good, and it looks like we're going to
see him on the course for a while. Because I
think winning, I think people got carried away a little bit.
I don't know that he's quite dynamic enough to go
four or five under every every day the rest of
the way to try to get there. Yeah, I think
there there were just a lot of winds to it,
right for for all of them watching, you know, we
we always talk and it's that the devil in the
(06:11):
details of coming back from injuries. Right in Major League Baseball,
there's always the well, I took this to try to
get back on the mound or whatever. It's like, Okay
wants to who get back and perform, So he enhanced
his workouts for Tiger Woods. You know, things that have
kind of dogged and whispered. But you know a guy
that was broken right a turn that I make once
(06:33):
a week taking my daughter to a soccer practice, and
that I've watched people nearly roll their cars in the
middle of the broad daylight. Uh. You know, it's just
that harrowing reminder of you know, a game of inches
literally like his uh shot on six where he almost
hit the hole in one and the I almost I
(06:53):
saw the Twitter whale start to swim around. I think
he was make a full appearance there, ye until it
felt just short, but absolutely. But you know it's one
of those you're you're inching towards the edge of your
seat with each shot you're watching, you know, and we're
all you know, a junior lawyers and doctors and everything.
(07:16):
Orthoptis doing this job because you're watching and it's like, well,
I think that you know this is hurt whatever and
this was watching his gait between each hole right as
they is his walk. He he gave you a good
curse on a microphone, so that was good at himself,
of course. But it's just for seven seventy two holes, No,
(07:39):
but for eighteen yeah, take it, you know the old one.
Take it one day at a time. So he has
body feels. He was said he was sore, but nothing.
He wasn't anticipating. Okay, that's a positive. And as you said,
it looks like, barring a catastrophe tomorrow, we're gonna get
him playing on the weekend. And every golfer on the tour,
(07:59):
every illustrator, every sponsor, every advertiser did a little dance
at some point after that opening te shot. Right, even
though it went into the trap, it was still Tiger's bad.
But then he goes what even for the front nine,
and then you know, one under for the back nine.
You're like, hey, day one, We'll take it. Are you
(08:21):
kidding me? The attention, uh levy towards this tournament, what
would we be talking about it really otherwise than acknowledging it.
And maybe a little elongated version of an update with
Steve no looking and and and look and how different
was it from any other Tiger round except normally off
the tea, it's just longer when it goes out of bounds.
(08:41):
You like, you see he's able to win tournaments where
what was his greens and regulation? Yeah, but he's still
shocked four under. Yeah, I'm like they sack you know,
all the all the big players. They sacrifice accuracy for
distance off the tea. But that's that's the big thing
is that you know that that dynamic part of his
game just is an back there yet. And you know,
for a guy who always made his bones being able
(09:03):
to hit it longer than everybody for them. Now you
know people are catching up to him. But still he's
on the back end of his forties. Yeah, you think,
but I mean still, I mean there there's certain courses
that he's going to compete well at the rest of
his career, and the Master's obviously is one of them.
Like for the next five or seven years, he will
be a threat at the mass. Now, once you get
(09:25):
into your mid fifties, and Lenn look, Tiger is a
guy that that has had a lot of injury difficulties,
It's gonna be more difficult to stay in shape so
you know the next few years for Tiger clearly's his
best chance to contend. Now are all the different courses
and you know for the Open Championship or the or
the p g A Championship, are they gonna be up
from the US up? But no, some of those courses
are gonna see too daunting for him because he doesn't
(09:46):
quite have the the athletic game that he had before.
But certain courses, yeah, he's gonna love. He's gonna always
make sure to play Tory Pines when a Major is there.
He's gonna play the Masters every year because those are
courses that he knows that he's comfortable with that he's
playing extremely well on throughout his career. So yeah, you're
still gonna get great moments and and great tournaments from
Tiger Woods. Will it be enough to win another major? Look,
(10:07):
I told you, I think the one he won a
couple of years ago might be his last one. But
he will still have the game to play, and it's
good that coming back here at the Masters, you see that. Okay,
once he doesn't have the game for the Masters, That's
what I'm gonna say. Okay, this is it like if
he if he starts coming to Augusta, and a couple
of years go by and it's man, he's not making
the cut here. That's when you know, Okay, Tiger Woods
(10:27):
really can't compete anymore. There's a difference between winning and competing.
And now you're hoping he can compete and potentially win.
But that's the one where if he doesn't do well
at the Masters, that's you. That's what you start to
ring the bell and go, man, this is it for
Tiger Woods. Well, yeah, it's just the is he playing
meaningful golf on on a Sunday? Right? Can we get
to that and just take it, you know, the the
eighteen holes at a time, and hope he walks off
(10:50):
and wakes up feeling good and ready to go again.
I mean that it's like the rest of us. The
old former colleague here at Fox Sports Radio, Tom Looney,
you know, he's day to day, but aren't we all
And then the music would start playing, But it's just
that level, right, and and given the fact that he
(11:11):
is on the on the back side of his forties,
you know, it's the excitement to watch a couple of
those big hits. Whether you're a weekend duffer, or you
haven't picked up a club in years, but you just
appreciate the physical and mental battles that are going on
for each hole. And how much of it we hear
all the time is you know, it's between your ears
(11:34):
a lot of it and battling yourself. So to see
him on the course amongst all those young guys is
pretty damn cool, as well as you know, picking that
fucious shirt man, because that right off the jump, I
declare victory right there. Yeah, he's he's not quite ready
for red, but okay, you know we'll get a shade
of red as as we close in on Sunday. A
(11:56):
little bit not well, when he was ready to go
straight to the cab when he was done, yeah, well, okay,
what's wrong with that? Did I sound like I was
casting his versions? I'm all honest, Why is it he
ready for round two? Well? He went out dancing. You
saw the shirt. It was magnetic, it was hypnotic. Now
I think with with that, now he'd be chair dancing
(12:18):
because you know he couldn't get out and dance and
he come on, you have so much pressure. You can
put on that lange. There'll be chair dancing. But that
celebration on the first t that gallery that was standing there,
the smile on the Starter's face as he got to
announce him going up to drive like it was. It
was just all that, you know, all the fields, not
(12:38):
to mention the veteran guys jack uh and Watson and
and player going out and doing their thing. Although players,
you know, a guy courting some controversy based on his apparel,
but we'll leave that for another time. It's an extension
of the film Michelson discussion that we had. Uh so
you can find the podcast wherever you get your audio there.
But all of that just in again, I I came
(13:01):
to golf late. Was not something on the South side
of Chicago unless you were going to go hustle across
to the north side to Caddy. But you know, the
north side was seen as there was an evil barrier
between at least you know, in my neighborhood seemed growing
up to Northwestern barrier. Was it an evil barrier? Was
gonna something like that? But yeah, so so I came
(13:25):
to it late, but certainly in this job and with
the friends that I made and throughout the years that
that is their form of self frustration and relaxation that
you know, paradox that exists with every hole in every swing.
I appreciate it on a whole other level. And uh,
it was just pretty damn fun viewing as I awaited
(13:46):
first pitch a Brewer's Cubs. Real credit card questions require
real people, someone who understand your issues works to resolve
with you. That's why I Discover offers helpful US based
reps available twenty four seven. Discover exceptionally calm and sense. Well,
coming up, we got some of our big MLB season predictions.
Plus guess what there could be a big time wide
(14:08):
receiver who wants to get traded out of the NFL?
Does it? Elijah More said, stop, don't don't put that
out there at the universe. He's on a rookie car.
He's just getting he's getting ahead of the game. Doesn't matter,
doesn't He said, Look what I did with these Jets quarterbacks.
That's coming up next. Keep it right here, Jason and Mike,
This is Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of
(14:29):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten
pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the I Heart Radio app. Fox Sports Radio. The Jason
Smith Show with My big friend Mike Harmon, live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios. True, it is true. Another
(14:51):
truth is that the Mets are leading the Nationals three
to nothing as they bat in the up of the sixth,
then got to stop the Fighters the first pitch and
the season's over. Look. You actually scored on a single though, Yeah,
not hit by pitch or a ground out, an actual
real run batted in like a guy hit a ball
(15:13):
that went to the outfield. Yeah, met smets, met smets,
met smet smet three. Big deal. It's an absolute joe
about that. That was me from a long time ago.
I can't believe that audio is so clear. It's very
it's a shock. Does your voice go back to that
high pitch towards the end of your life? Is that
(15:34):
what it does when I when I get really upset
about things, my voice does get a little higher, a
little squeaky. Okay, got a little bit ti tiny, tiny
bit tiny. Yeah, you know it gets it gets up
that That's okay, it happens. But right now, okay, so
you know, a three run homer right here, six nothing,
I'd feel really good because that would take Edwin Diaz
out of the equation. But I'll deal with where we're at, right,
(15:55):
come on a short slate, A couple of games postponed tomorrow.
The glory of the White Sox season begins tomorrow. So
very excitable. Uh am, I might actually get out to
a game this weekend too. I mean we got the
the Angels hosting the Astros started. Yeah, hey, that game
is just underway too into the first hitting nothing. Yeah, yeah,
(16:16):
so we have lots of big stuff go on a
big day for Major League Baseball. Yeah yeah, I mean, look,
you thought the drama was over right, No, no, no, no, no,
Lakers are playing. They're still drama, still trade drama. Uh,
let's deal with that first before you get to some
of our big MLB predictions. And today, you know, look
(16:38):
the day after, the day after for the Lakers, right,
I mean, look that they play tonight against Lebron James
is not playing, which is probably the right move, or
people would show up with pitchforks and surround his property
with with like Frankenstein to go, how dare you come
back when the season is over just to win the
scoring title? Uh, He's not playing tonight. Russell Westbrook is
(17:01):
not playing tonight. Anthony Davis is not playing tonight, uh,
Carmelow Anthony, No, he is at with the non COVID
illness and the Lakers right now. Whoda thought they're leading
the Warriors late in the first quarter. But trade talk
has come up big time today in regards to the
Lakers and regarding Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. UM. First,
(17:26):
with Russell Westbrook, we get the story earlier in the
day that potentially the Charlotte Hornets uh could be on
the radar for Westbrook as they would want to obtain
his salary, be able to stretch it out and get
rid of it on the table going back to another
team like the Lakers, would be Terry Rosier and Gordon Hayward. UM. Now,
initially on the service, you go, oh my god, they
(17:46):
could get rid of Russell Westbroon, get both of them? Yes,
do that? Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.
Gordon Hayward is not going to turn you into a
great team. And as good as Terry Rosier is, he's
starting the next year a four year, hundred million dollar contract,
right so the paying Terry is Who's who's a good player.
I always like Terry Rosie, but boy, that's a lot
of money. That's not gonna do it. If you're the Lakers,
you have to take next season. You have to make
(18:08):
this offseason getting rid of everything you can, and that
includes Anthony Davis and understanding that next year is just
gonna stink. You have to be able to get as
many assets as you can and make it all about
Lebron's race for the all times points record, and then
next year at this time, then the Lakers can be back.
If you do this move and you get rid of
Russell Westbrook and and you do anything other than a
(18:30):
salary that you can just get rid of after a year, um,
you're gonna be stuck, right because, like I said, Rosier's
contracts for four years. Hayward's got two more years on this.
If I thought that Rosier and Hayward would bring you
the time, okay, great, but they're not. And there's a
reason why that Charlotte wants to get get rid of
these guys, right, They have other players that are more
valuable that they want to be able to to get
(18:51):
a little bit more financial flexibility. And yeah, does Michael
Jordan's like Russell Westbrook, Sure that's great. So so let
him go there. But to take on salad that you're
gonna go past next season, No, don't do that. You
have to be able to start over. And it's with bigger,
better players than that that that's gonna rebuild the Lakers franchise.
So just understand, go into next season, no expectations. Keep
(19:12):
that bar really really low, right, really low, keep it low.
Trade a D. A D said today, I'm not concerned.
I don't think about getting traded. That's from my agents
to worry about and clutched sports. I want to be here. Yes, sorry,
the Lakers need to trade him. You can't count on him.
He gets hurt too much. Alright, Yes, you won the
title in twenty As good as he is, he's not
gonna suddenly start getting healthier as he approaches his thirties.
(19:35):
The guys played in exactly half the games with the
Lakers since he's come here, all right, that's not gonna
suddenly improve. He's not gonna suddenly get a clean bill
of health. All we brought in a new doctor, Dr
Nick Rivierira has got these guys going, hey, everybody, that's
not gonna happen. All right, But A D still has
value around the league. You may not get a lot
for him because he's not quite the player that he was,
but there is somebody that would love to have his
(19:57):
skill set, hoping that he is going to get health
maybe a team that would not be able to get
a guy like him under other circumstances. That's what you
have to do. Yes, move Westbrook salary, dub, move a
d salary, dub. Don't take on more salary. Just understand
next year is gonna suck. And then it's like going
to medical school. Understand the years are gonna suck. But
(20:18):
at the end, you're gonna be a doctor. Right to understand,
you're gonna be time where you have to worry about
the staying up late and you're do You're you're staying
up all night to study for tests you're not gonna
do well, and then you have to take them over again.
And then you have anatomy, LAMB and all these other things,
and you gotta worry about the other nurses and and
and and you know, and then the hospital that you're
gonna hook up with, I'm sorry, I'm just thinking about
(20:38):
er um so, but other things are gonna happen. It's
gonna be very, very difficult, and so that's gonna you know,
that's gonna be a thing. Hey male and female nurses,
you know, hey male, Yeah, but you were going down
a deep dark eers anatomy saying elsewhere insert any at
all hospital shows here. You gotta worry about general hospital.
If when the mob comes into I mean you got
(21:00):
at all, you're gonna be mc steamy or mcdream You'll
be one of those people that you gotta know. It's
gonna suck until that times how it goes. Yeah, with
Anthony Davis, I love some of the quotes, uh quote,
I mean, I don't think they're planning on doing anything
with me. I don't know, man, blank, I don't know. Uh.
And then he had all the other stuff about the
agency and that's their job in the front office and
(21:21):
and whatever else. You know. With Westbrook, the fact that
you have Charlotte potentially there, that's the one you gotta
uh really sink that hook in and make sure he
can make that happen. Otherwise you're doing the stretching out
and waving in whatever. If you can actually get some
discernible assets for him, then then that's the way to go.
(21:44):
As much as I'd love to run it back. Why
because I think it would be great theater for us.
Come on, it'll be better this time. Why is it
gonna be better? It just will Thank you for Sean
for your vocal accompaniment. Will be nominated for the Grammys
next year. Uh spoken word and you know collaboration. But
it's for Anthony Davis. You know, he's a hard luck guy.
(22:07):
I feel bad right because it's not you know, maybe
early in the season, just like Luca and everybody else conditioning,
you can point out and question a little bit. And
then but some of the falls, some of the you know,
he's down again. You just get nervous, like, all right,
your seventh footer and how many of those can you sustain?
(22:28):
Before you know that's the last one that takes you
out for a considerable amount of time, I e. A season,
because right now we're at the point it's thirty thirty
games plus a year, right, And and I feel bad
for the guy right when wins the title. Look, he
not particularly thrilled that with eighteen months left on a deal,
just says, hey, I'm a plan anymore, Trade me to
(22:49):
l A. But I also have to respect the hell
out of the fact that even with no other suitors. Uh,
he ended up in l a right. He was able
to force his way, and we all want to yeah,
well you know, we we want to get what we want.
So he did, and he got a title. And folks
can try to disparage and diminish that title all they want,
it still counts just the same. So all you frauds
(23:12):
that want to keep doing that, look at the record books.
It's just like the folks that try to dismiss Barry
Bonds and everybody that played uh in those twenty years
keeping up out of the Hall of Fames. Last I saw,
all those records are still standing, just like Elton John
is jaunty little hat dancing on the street. But it's
the idea that it's gonna be very hard to move
(23:33):
a deal with either of those guys. I mean, Davis,
maybe you can convince some team that a sixty games
is far better than whatever else you got, but you
can't even guarantee that right. That is a hard sell,
a hard line, and I mean you gotta bring in
some closers for that one to really make it. It's
(23:54):
like no, no, no, the metrics are this then, and
if we're playing better perhaps you could have come back.
Now you're gonna deny that if anybody ever asked that question.
But in negotiations, yeah, he he was. He was probably
better off than he was. Again, it's all about spin
and trying to push it forward for the Lakers. It's
a hard reboot, but like we talked about last night,
I don't think it's restricted just to the players, and
(24:16):
certainly not just a Frank Vogel. I think there's a
whole cleansing that needs to happen in Lakerville to really
recognize how things are working, because, yeah, you got it
right on that blip, right on what is otherwise a
catastrophic nine year run where everything came together, including the
pandemic and a stoppage of play. I don't diminish it,
(24:40):
but we have to recognize it because it did happen.
So you got your championship. Fantastic. All the other years
and all the other rebuilds have been an absolute train
wreck and a disaster for an organization that before that
point was in a title uh series every other year
in the NBA history before that. Be sure to catch
(25:01):

Let'sten to the Fifth Hour with Ben Mallow or the
I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get
your podcast. So one big story in the NFL, and
(25:42):
it is a big story because when someone does this,
it's a big deal. Deebo Samuel has unfollowed the San
Francisco forty Niners on Instagram. People say it likely wants
more money. Uh, Instead, he's gonna wind up getting traded.
Time to make an f them picks offer for deep
move on from d Gay Metcalff and go to debo
(26:03):
because clearly he's pissed. And before you sit here and say, oh,
just because someone removes somebody from social No, when's the
last time someone removed their team from their profile on
social media and it wasn't a big deal. It is
a big deal. It's a big deal because it's a
big deal of the players, right. And this is for
people who really don't understand the reach of social media.
(26:25):
That what you are twenty five years old. You have
grown up with social media being like your right arm, right,
this is I love social media. I am beholding to
social media, which I think is insane, but I understand
this is kind of the world we live in. When
a player unfollows their team, they're pissed and they want out,
and and and can it be solved? I don't know.
But when you don't, when you stopped following your team
(26:47):
on Instagram, it's a message he wants everybody to know
he is upset. So it's time to make an f
them picks offer for Deebo. Samuel DK Metcalf that was
so two days ago. A J. Brown, that was so
five years ago. Today, Dee Bow deep Bow. Joe Douglas
should be on the phone right now saying, hey, I'll
take Deebo. I'll take Garoppolo, whatever you got, I'll take him.
(27:09):
We're ready for it. Robert Salez got these guys, We're
ready to go. What do you need? Blank damn picks,
blank damn picks. Gotta do it, Gotta do it. Debo's available.
It just feels like Deebo started singing, what about me?
He got tired of everybody talking about DK metcalf. So
how do you get some attention? Let's change it up.
Doesn't mean all of what you just said isn't true,
(27:32):
but that's the way to stir the pot. Hey, let's
get my name back in folks mouths and have them
thinking about me as that next next level talent. And
given whether he was in the run game with what
they how the creative they got in San Francisco. Absolutely,
he's a guy saying I want to be the highest
paid non quarterback. I like the at least I like
(27:55):
the cut of his jib. Right, you don't get anything
without asking twy. I send notes to our bosses every
day raise yet they must love that. Sometimes I put
it in a purple font. Sometimes, you know, I find
stuff out of movies with guys asking from money. You know,
(28:17):
all those things. But but for Deebo Samuel with the
way this offseason is gone. You're not gonna get any
attention unless you bring it to yourself. And what's the
easiest way to do it. Scrub your social media? Why
because the watchdogs i e. Folks that all right, you're
getting anything done over there in your eight hours you're
supposed to be here. Just keep checking everybody's instagrams, Like,
(28:41):
damn it, anybody that's on this list that may or
may not be trained. It's like watching a card breaker
who has no idea who any of the uh, the
stars or rookies are that he's supposed to be pulling out.
They literally have to put a list in front of
them and it's like, oh, is that one of the guys. Yeah,
it's one of the guys. Hey, deep, make sure eat
Debo's instagram in case he does anything crazy. Hey, I
(29:05):
caught it, he did it, and now away it goes.
Good luck, Debot. I hope you either get your Monster
contract or you get to where someone really wants to
grossly overpay on the idea that they're going to be
able to install an offense that can utilize you as
well as San Francisco can. And remember the guy that
(29:25):
was there that might be able to do that. Miami.
He's got enough wide receivers, so just recognize the marketplace.
Call one eight hundred Debo to go get him. That's
one eight debo. Yeah, but which debo do you picture?
Do you picture Deebo? Samuel, do you picture Debot? No?
I picture Debo, and then I picture him. I picture
Debo and then Debot making a big play on the field.
(29:47):
And that's that's kind of picture. Yeah, it's it's it's
both you. You never think one and not the other. No,
he kind of hulks out and then he's just running
over people instead of around them. One eight hundred Debot, Debot, Deebo. Oh,

team to win the World Series. We each have one
for you, and I'm not going to pick the Mets,
I promise, because it's not a surprise because they're great.
(30:30):
That's christ That's that's next. Try to Fox. Be sure

(30:53):
where the Mets lead the Nationals four to one, top
of the seventh Bridge. So excited. Oh, come on, of
course we're gonna close to edwin DS time. It's gonna
be great. It's gonna be awesome and night. So I mean,
come on, and he let off the game. Yeah, we
had all sorts of stuff. Maybe we got a little
bit on the Angels coming up later. Maybe maybe. But
(31:18):
since it is opening day in Major League Baseball tonight,
it's a big day for all our big bold predictions.
And you know you always want to listen because, boy,
you've been really hot with our bold predictions the last
few months. Uh, let's just start right here. How about
a surprise team to win the World Series, A team
that's not part of one of the top three, four, five,
six favorites. But a team that's below that, their odds
(31:40):
are below ten to one, maybe eighteen to one. I'll
give you a surprise team, Meach Mike, and I will
give you a surprise World Series team. And I'm not
gonna give you the Mets. Okay, I'm not gonna give
pretty impressive. Look, clearly the Mets are that good. So
I mean that there'd be no surprise. I mean, look,
they're supposed to be. Look now it's five to one.
Oh look at this, um though, so it's stop stop
(32:01):
one of one two. You gotta pace yourself, man, come on,
it doesn't matter, man, it doesn't matter. You're the guy
that gets into a casino in Vegas and you're at
the A t M. Five minutes later. I'll happen to you.
I got the favor now, I'm okay, I'm okay. Uh So,
how about surprise team for the World Series. I'll give
you my first team. And it pains me to say, okay, no,
(32:22):
I believe it. Um. If I had to a surprise
World Series team, I would say the Yankees. Alright, this
is so they're not They're not a longer yeh, but
but there's but there's like a lot of potential for chaos. Yeah,
there's like six or seven teams ahead of them, you know,
in the odds, and and they're picked a finish third
in the Al East. But um, they're kind of under
(32:46):
the radar this year, which I think is exactly what
they need. They've been top of mind front runners the
last five or six years with this invention of the
Yankee team and this incarnation of it, and they fallen short.
They've done well, but they've fallen short. Now now they
can just go play baseball, right, and their lineup is
really solid all around. You got Aaron Judge potentially going
into free agency. He's gonna have an m v P
(33:09):
type season. You can say, oh, they needed bigger moves
in the off season. Yeah, okay, I'm with you on that,
But those moves are gonna come during the season because
now they're they're their minor league system is stocked back
to where it was a couple of years ago. They
can make Dodgers type of trades of prospects to get
players they need. They're pitching his solid Garrett Cole is
gonna have a big year. Uh, this is This is
(33:31):
exactly the situation the Yankees should be and where they're good,
but no one's really picking them to win the World
Series because there's other better teams like the Blue Jay's
prohibitive favorite right now in the American League along with
the White Sox. Teams believe in the Astros, More teams
believe in the Red, Red Sox, the Rays, all these teams.
You've got six or seven teams ahead of the Yankees
in the American League. This is exactly what they need.
(33:54):
So my surprise team, the Yankees. You're jib and you
like that. You're diving on board the Yank. He's in
banking on Aaron Judge to stay healthy and dominate. So
that's good. Uh, Well, we'll see if the heart of
the lineup can do it. I'm gonna go a little deeper. Uh.
And we we talked about a little bit with Seth
Evert right. He went a little nutty of of going
(34:14):
with Seattle And if we're looking at true long shots
at twenty five to one, I think I look there,
which means, you know, predictive. Julio Rodriguez has to be
the guy that you're seeing all the video clips and
stories about uh to come in and be a monster
in the American League West. And and obviously we watched
(34:36):
that division opportunity knocks baby, Uh, it's there to go
take with so many of the favorites coming out of
the East. Uh, and well the White Sox and and
and well no, I mean look, and then you got Houston.
Obviously a lot of questions. You know, is is Verlander
(34:56):
after missing two years? Like if you were going to
do a price out for a cy Young he's eighteen
to one mm hm. But are you getting a full season?
I don't know, I mean how long? But you like
their squad overall, Yeah, he'll be He'll be great for
the first couple of months and then who knows what's
gonna happens. Oh man, I'm into July now. I haven't
thrown a lot of innings that's gonna so I'm looking
for the cannibalization. Although the Toronto home field advantage thing
(35:19):
is gonna be interesting to watch. Oh boy. So there
it is a couple of surprise picks for the World Series.
We've got more Big Baseball previews coming up next hour.
But are we on the cusp of another big NFL
story about to drop, keep it right here. This is
Fox Sports Radio.
