(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Colleague
of the Month. Yeah yeah, hang on, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're gonna give you our picks for the playing games
tomorrow night in the NBA coming up in a minute,
and uh, Jason Lock and four is gonna stop by

(00:46):
later on this hour NFL Insider, who's got big stuff
on Baker Mayfield? Could we see some f then picks
offers for the wide receivers. But last hour on the show,
we talked about in Isaac Lohenkron did about how Mike
Harmon one the Fox Sports Radio Colleague of the Month
award really big, just grasping, trying to really um take

(01:09):
control of my emotions. Yeah not not not a real award.
I asked when it happened. I said, really, this is
an award in a ceremony, yeah, conducted off camera earlier
Mike Harmon with So I asked Mac and Isaac and Tish.
I said, I'd like to see this plaque that supposedly
Fox Sports Radio went out and paid for that's got

(01:31):
names on the plaque as I'd like to see it.
And Isaac said, I'll take a picture up. I want
to see it. Yes, show me that picture. I'd love
to see that plaque. Well, Isaac Lowenkron took a picture
of it, send it to me, and I have just
put it on Twitter, and let me say it's glorious.
It's glorious because you can see the piece of Cell

(01:52):
of Fame tape that is holding up the piece of
paper that clearly had just printed out picture of Mike
Harmon and the words Colleague of the Month with Bucky
Brooks and my photo under it. Uh, that has been
just temporarily taped to the inside of the studio wall.
So clearly this real, an official plaque is a real thing. Boy,

(02:17):
I'll tell you, I I was taken by surprise. I
I really, I really thought this is a fake thing. Man.
Nothing says official than a piece of paper off the printer, Uh,
with head shots that come off the website and Scotch tape,
so nothing, nothing says real. And I believe that's how
they're gonna do the oscars from now on. You're not
gonna get a big judge. You're gonna be a piece

(02:37):
of paper with a piece of Scotch tape on it,
so you can put it right up and just you
put Maybe it works, mean people get slapped that way
and that and that. Maybe it's a new thing, but
clearly I like that that this is. Now you can
see how real and official that it is. Why you
gotta n I'm just saying, you know, why why you
gotta castigate and and deride everything that's going on here.

(02:58):
It's a little bit of love, a little bit of
a celebratory thing on a Monday night beginning of New
work week. Got to come in and see the fellas.
We ordered some nice pizza. I mean you're on the
metal stand your picture still I was there. Uh. It
says there with a picture of you, colleague of the month.
Then it says with a picture of Bucky Brooks with

(03:19):
the phrase the torch has been passed. Then my picture
under it saying I never had a chance that well,
but you're pickure, you're still pictured, and if it's far
enough away, nobody knows when it reads, I'm still better
well made sure it says big Colleague of the Month over,
but you're still but you're still on the metal stand
here as as far as anybody knows, if they're looking
from a distant month, why why is this vexing you?

(03:42):
So it's not vexing? I knew again again. I want
people to know that if you take anything away from
the show tonight, you know that Fox Sports Radio Colleague
of the Month not a real award. But yeah, it's
you know, it's uh just something that um surprise me
as all. It just you know, I didn't know what
the what the qualify cations were for winning Colleague of
the Month. I didn't know, you know what that would

(04:03):
put it in line with every MVP award every Yeah,
but even though they vote, they have random criteria. People
voted here, Isaac voted tight. You voted everybody did. Where
was my ballot that I get a ballot? I don't,
I don't I don't get to vote. You didn't you
weren't here, all right, So there it is. There's the

(04:30):
official Mike Harmon colleague. I don't know. I try to
get ahead, and you're just trying to cut me down again.
It's again, okay, just really just trying to take the
life and spirit out of my eye. It's like I'm
them or at the end, and you're trying to make
sure the little red eye goes black. You know, the man. No,
I think the world of you, But Colleague of the

(04:51):
Month not a real thing. I just want to make
sure you know, if if you walked around saying you
were the American League m v P, I know that's
a real award. Colleague of the Sports Radio Colleague of
the Month. That's what's funny is if Jason won this, Mike,
it would be totally different. It's not an award. It
doesn't matter. What do you How can I win an
award that doesn't exist. It doesn't exist. You underneath saying

(05:17):
I didn't have a chance. Listen. You can't listen. Listen, listen.
No official awards come off someone's personal computer and printed. No, No,
it's a much it's a much bigger thing. Okay, So
from a printer or to a three D printer. What's
the difference. We just went. If there was a trophy
or some kind of permanent place for this and not
just something that's scotch tape up on the wall with

(05:39):
a piece of paper, I would I would say that, Okay,
maybe I'll give you a little bit. But again, you know,
not a real award. And again Bucky Brooks could not
have won it because he works one day a month,
one day a week. Is he not borge radio employee?
Bunky's great? I love Bucky. Can't can't do it. That's
the the m v P. Isn't a guy. This isn't
a scoring time. We didn't play enough. Yeah, you know

(06:01):
that's the thing. You have to play enough games. Man,
it's the criteria. But why am I saying it's eligible.
It's not a real award. There's no elgib you know.
You know what We're gonna pick these bleep and playing games. Now, okay, done,
We're done. You're the one that wanted to make it

(06:21):
a big deal and now it's not. I just celebrated
it and now you're mad at me. It's not it's
not something. It's not. Listen, when when when your kid
makes you a Dad of the Year award and you
get it. Do you walk around going, I'm the best,
I'm better than every other you know why, I'm the
only one man no bomb, man, no bomb. Every every

(06:43):
death gets the Dad of the Year award from their kid.
Everybody does, even the ones that I know that I'm
better than. But I mean still everybody gets that award
of kids. It can't say it's the official Dad of
the Year award. I like that you're doing the even
the ones I know I'm better, I mean down. I
mean you went back to signfeld In and I'm already
I'm already a better dad than you because you showed

(07:05):
your kids midsummer. I mean that that's that's like the
good place where it's like harmon, you did a lot
of good things about Oh you showed your kids midsummer.
That was like minus five million points. You really you
really want to go down this road. It's like minus
five millions. Oh. I could just see ted dance and
looking at your wall, going so, yeah, that was maybe

(07:26):
a little too early for that movie. Yeah, five million,
that's a lot of points. Okay, let's look at some
other things I can see that I can see him
doing that. I'm just gonna smile and not and say
how about those playing games? Okay, all right? They not
And not because I have any issue having shown my
kids Midsummer. It is a movie, yeah, but there's things

(07:51):
that happened in it, man that are whoa. And I
know that the world is a violent place, yes, but
that's not a real place in Midsummer not a real
I mean, look, look, not a real award. Maybe a
real time multiverse right there. And and legitimately, if that's
the worst thing I knew, that gives me a de merry,

(08:13):
I think I've done all right. It's minus five million.
That's you're gonna be in the bad place. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. Uh.
Tonight show brought you by one of our favorite cities,
Las Vegas, the greatest arena on Earth. Planner trip today

(08:34):
and visit Las Vegas dot com. Alright, so tomorrow night,
we got to playing games in the NBA. And one
is a star side of Affair and the other one
has the Clippers and the Wolves. So hey, Clippers are
on the come man. Alright, the Clippers aren't bad. All right,
let's let's pick that one first. Okay, t Wolves and
the Clips. Um, I'd love to pick the Clippers in

(08:55):
this one. Minnesota is just a little bit better there.
Three stars are gonna be too much for the Clippers,
who are still trying to pace it all together. You know,
the Clippers have had some pretty good moments in the
past couple of weeks, but they're still trying to figure out.
You know, as Dorman Powell gonna come in, is he
gonna be able to light it up? It's the big
Patrick Beverley revenge game. You know, he's gonna be big.
Tomorrow night, Minnesota is playing at home. If the Clippers

(09:19):
had more time to mesh with this, I would get it.
But they're gonna have to live to play another day
because Minnesota's gonna win tomorrow night. Look at this. I
am gonna go the opposite way on you. Why, because
that's what makes it more fun. Clippers getting three on
the road to thirty year over under in this one.
Plenty of prop bets out there available for you to
have some entertainment, uh purposes. But I'm looking at the

(09:41):
way the Clippers played down the stretch. Paul George has
been fantastic, winners of five straight to close things out,
six of their last seven, with that only lost being
against the Balls in a big overtime one one thirty shootout.
I'll take the Clippers to continue to roll. You know why,
because that extends the misery of Polinka and Genie and

(10:05):
the Lakers fans everywhere, uh to recognize how much of
a failure this season was. Uh So, now we moved
to the East, and you know, I would love to
pick the Cavaliers. I'd love to do it. I'd love
to pick the Cavaliers, But no, Jared Allen is a
really big deal, right since he got hurt, their seven

(10:26):
and eleven and and their hallmark is defense, and every
defensive metric they had has gone down. This is just
not the team they were when he was in there.
And he's going to miss the games from oorrow night,
which means the Nets are gonna get their shots, and
Katie's gonna score thirty eight and Kyrie is gonna score
thirty one with eight assists, and it's all gonna be great,
and the Nets are gonna be the team. Hey, we're qualified,

(10:47):
We're in now. I'd love to be able to pick
the Cavaliers, but the nets are just gonna be a
little bit too much for them in this game. I
get Jared All will be a different story if he
was in. Yeah, you know what. I kind of like this.
I can see this one this way, especially when they
can play defense the way they do, because that will
travel and it will be really uncomfortable for k D
and Kyrie. But the way it is right now, the

(11:08):
cas are gonna be difficult. The NBA knows having the
nets in the playoffs is a really big deal. Let's
look at the let's look at the foul discrepancy tomorrow night.
Let's get the free throw line discrepancy tomorrow night between
the Calves and the and the nets. Give me the
nets to row it over the Cavaliers. Nets given eight
and a half in this one, that's a nice hefty
total for a play in here. Eight and a half

(11:31):
to eight? Uh is your total? Yeah? Nets too much?
I like the idea that you're suggesting potential chicanery. That's
always fun and exciting. I think just this is the time, right,
As Rafiki said, it's time I got Robert Dime into
the show. I win. That's pretty good. I mean, guys,
I mean that backs up my colleague in the month

(11:52):
even more because I'm elevating things on a whole other level.
Yeah no, but look you've gotten in Robert m and
Rod Carew tonight. Yeah. I mean that's that's a good job.
I I dig that. I'm bringing everybody together. It is
a big party. Be sure to catch live editions of

Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Lakers fired
Frank Vogel earlier today. Okay, get it knew it was coming.

(12:59):
Gotta get it ready for a new version of Lebron
James for the next three years, a guy who was
no longer obsessed with winning and getting the finals and
is clearly looking at the endgame for him and his
career personal right now. You've seen him be somewhat detached
from the team the last couple of years, a big
power struggle between what he wants, what Clutch Sports wants,

(13:21):
and what the Lakers want and running the team. Now,
I'm gonna play a sound bite for you right now,
and it's gonna illustrate just how Lebron feels about winning,
about being a Laker, and you're gonna get that he's
really moved on to being about him. He was asked
if this season was a failure, and here's Lebron's answer. Yeah,

(13:41):
I mean it's not failure. Listen. We came to work
every single day, put our hard heads and we try
to get better every day and the results just didn't
didn't happened for us. So it's not a failure. Uh yeah,
that question is not about you, and he made it
about him. What the answer is knowing for well, because
you know he's talked to reporters or a time or
two before, was this season of failure. M This is

(14:04):
about what fans want to hear, what the Lakers want
to hear, because the Lakers are really important to a
lot of people. It's an important deal for a huge
part of the population here in Los Angeles and beyond.
And for him to say not a failure not the
answer they want to hear. They don't need to hear
you say it was all all right, fault, but they
need to hear you say, yes, we failed, we didn't

(14:25):
get in the playoffs. We had um title aspirations, we
gotta fix it for next year. But instead it was yeah, no,
not a failure. How much are you invested really in
winning anymore? He knows the Lakers are gonna stink. It's
like he came to the team, he won the title
in twenty and now he feels debt paid. Now I'm
going to use the Lakers brand whatever I want from
my career, right, That's why I told you he wanted

(14:45):
the Lakers in the beginning. He wanted the Lakers brand.
I won the title. Now I'm probably not gonna win again.
That's okay. I have other things I want and in
my basketball career, I want to do two things. I
want to pass Kareem Nowbdul Jabar and be the all
time leading scorer. And I want to play with Brawny.
That's what I'm about. If we went along the way, great,
But he's no longer obsessed with winning and his legacy

(15:05):
like he was early on. He sees the end of
his career coming. It's about individual things for him now
and you can hear it in that sound bite. Yeah,
it wasn't a failure for us. No, no, no, that's
about the team not doing it, and that's what you
say as a leader. He's detached and winning is just
a bonus for him now like it is for a
lot of players in the league. Lebron was different for
a while, but now things are different for him. This
is Lebron to expect the next couple of years, and

(15:27):
it's gonna be rough because Lakers and Laker fans want championships.
Mike Harmon, this might not be the smooth rod he
thinks to get in to play with Brawny. Well, let's
they clear out the front office and all the hangers
on that have an opinion and how roster's constructed No,
nothing's gonna change. You got your title. You should be
happy for that. The rest of it has been abject
failure and disastrous personnel move after disastrous personnel move. I

(15:51):
mean the other question that was asked of him in
the process, you know, an extension of the was this
a failure? You know, immediately went of the disingenuous. I
don't know how many games did we play together? You
guys know like saying, all right, chorus answer back to me,
and you hear like fifty people. He knew what he

(16:12):
was doing. All right, Well you got your answer, that
didn't you We were hurt. No, you still sucked and
you were on the court for fifties six games. Twitter
and out about a Fresco. Mike gets swollen down The
