(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hello and welcome inside
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
hobo live from the Fox Sports Radio studios where yesterday
Mike Harmon, what did I say, Hey, Kevin Durant's not

(00:44):
gonna have another game like that again. You just watch
what happens. You watch, He's not gonna have the game
like Game one, and then he did. So now you're
just you're out a batt Yeah, I know, I am.
I know. It's defeated. Devin Booker, I know im, and
I'm like the cooler I'm I'm I'm like the real
life Bill Mason. Everything out now, Oh my goodness. Durant

(01:08):
did hit eighteen of his twenty free throws, though, why
they beat the hell out of him? He shoots four
out of seventeen. Nope, let's keep sending to the free
throw line. Hey, it's not his night. Watch his point
the way to the basket. It's not his night tonight.
Why keeps sending the free throw line? Oh my ruff,
I'm up another six turnover performance for Kevin Durant. There's
back to back and and really, uh, you know, we

(01:30):
we joke a lot about our love of cinema and
musicals or whatever else. I'm thinking John c Riley, not
for winning time, but sella fane, mr. I mean, he
wasn't there, man. I'll tell you the other night, coming
off of Game one, right, we had that incredible ending
with the Nets and the Celtics and Tatum with the layup,
and I said, Kevin Durant is not going to have

(01:52):
another game like that because he had a horrendous game
in game one. Kyrie was great, horrendous game in Game one.
He's not gonna have another game like that. It's not
gonna happen. And then he follows it up with even
though he had twenty seven points, one of his worst
playoff performances, four out of seventeen from the floor, he
had more turnovers and field goals with six, five fouls.

(02:13):
It just was not his night, and the Nets are
down to zip and Kyrie was just as bad. Four
out of thirteen for ten points, eight rebounds, one assist
from Kyrie, one assist to Night from Kyrie, and the
Celtics take a two oh lead over the Nets one
four teen, one oh seven. The Nets had the lead,
despite all despite all of this, they had a big lead,

(02:35):
and Garan drag us off the bench, and the fourth
quarter comes and Kevin Durant invisible and Kyrie is invisible,
and then and the Celtics storm from behind to win
by seven. I mean, it's my fault. I said, Katie's
never gonna have a game like that again, and sure
enough he did. I said, the Celtics, you need all
five of their store starters to have big games. You

(02:55):
need big games from Horford. Still it's not And what
did they do? They got it again from everybody. Every
everything I said about this series the other day, everything
I said was wrong. I'm like Mark Hamill in uh
in um last Jedi. Everything you just said was wrong.
Everything I said was wrong. Al Horford with another sixteens
and six night plus eleven six of ten shooting. Uh

(03:19):
you look at for the nets, they scored eight points
in the first ten minutes. In twenty six seconds of
the fourth quarter, they scored nine down the stretch. More
free throws from Kevin Durant uh and a couple of
garbage buckets. Uh to close it out. Just a miserable
effort defensive swarming by the Celtics. Fourth quarter, they got hot.

(03:40):
Pritchard came in, gave him a couple of huge buckets. Uh,
you know, just next man up kind of scenario. He
finished with ten plus fifteen in his sixteen minutes played.
I mean, just ridiculous. Between he and Grant Williams, you
get twenty seven points and ten boards in their time
off the bench, and the Stars did their normal uh

(04:02):
normal stat lines checked the boxes. But for the nets.
I mean, really, that fourth quarter was something to behold.
How abysmally that offense ran the disappearing act of Kyrie
Irving except for fans chanting his name and a chance
we can't even play on air they had. I mean

(04:22):
they were doing rounds like they were going row row
blank blank blank Kyrie. I mean that's what it sounded like,
and we can't even play it. Yeah, Celtics fans came
to play tonight. Did you think they weren't after Kyrie?
And you know what, there's no betting in the state
of Massachusetts, unlike what woes was trying to perpetrate that
fraud yesterday. Uh, you know someone else called him a dope,

(04:46):
so I'll leave it to them. But you know they, Hey,
they're really mad at Kyrie because he's losing bets for them.
How freaking dumb is that? And that he was trying
to sight like it was you know Pete will inside
the NBA that had that feeling. No, that might be
the worst report ever. You should have your blue checkmark
revoked for that line of thought. But no, the vitriol

(05:09):
was there, the anger was there. Uh. And the Celtics
fans relished that fourth quarter. I mean you you've got
a celebration that's spilling into the bars right now that
will last to the morning hours and people just put
their hats on and go to work. Hey, who wants
to talk. Let's talk about Kyrie. Let's give a toast
to Kyrie. Everybody won two three blank Kyrie, Blank Kyrie,

(05:29):
quimby blank Kyrie. It's it's a it's a party right now.
In Boston. It's an absolute party. And every single thing
I said about this game was wrong. There's not one
thing I got right. Kyrie can play at this level
the entire series. What he's motivated, right, Kyrie. No didn't happen, Katie. Oh,
he's not in a game like that. No, not gonna happen. Celtics,
they're starting five, is not gonna happen. No, every single

(05:53):
thing I said was wrong. There's not one thing I
got right about this game, not one thing, not one
thing not There's not one bit I've got except when
the Nets were winning big I'm like, Costly, I told
you how the Nets could win this thing. You were
breathing easy for a while. I was okay, but that
but you know what, that's why they play four quarters
of the basketball game and not three. Uh So it's
everything I said. I was like, hey, great, and now

(06:15):
everything was wrong. Well, and then you had me getting
all giddy at the start of this. Uh Bucks pulls game,
Poles get out to a nine oh elite like yeah,
let's go, and now it's eighteen sixteen Bucks Uh just
inside the uh the the halfway point of the first quarters,
Like damn it, Hey let me tell you what you
always tell me. You had a good run. I had

(06:37):
a good run. Well, but you know what I needed
that after what was a dismal, terrible double header from
my beloved White Sox eleven one throttling at the hand
of the guardians after a couple of delays a double
header today, so eleven one lost Kaiko was terrible. Uh.
And then they lose to one one of the dopeyest

(06:59):
play as I've ever seen. You're getting ready to maybe
have an inning first hits, first runners on. Now let's
send me really slow catcher around third on a ball
that's hit up the left field line where he gets
thrown out by a mile. Uh, and then the inning ends.
But I will take this the White Sox bullpen, Jason.
Today they phace thirty eight batters. They only allowed two singles,

(07:21):
So I got that going for me. What do you
always say, find your wins, find your That's what I
have to do. Hey, that bullpen is gonna be nailed.
Tim Anderson pulled the Kyrie because he got tired of them,
So that was good. We'll get to change the game, baby,
change the game. We'll get in the middle finger. Tim
coming up later on in the show. But uh, if

(07:43):
I got everything wrong about the Nets, I did, And
then apparently I have cursed the Suns because the NBA
playoffs have just changed on a dime, a game changing injury.
Devin Booker now going to be out at least the
next two games, the hamstring injury suffered last I told
you before the playoffs, the Sons are gonna win the series.
They're gonna win the They wein the title, and it's

(08:05):
not even gonna be close. They're not gonna be challenged.
They're just that much better than everybody else. And Devin
Booker is an absolute superstar. He will be the best
player in the playoffs. And the Nets are gonna and
and the and the Sons are gonna show you not
the Nets, the Sons are gonna show you. Hey, our
regular season being this much better than everybody else was
not a fluke. And what happens now he's hurt. Now

(08:26):
he's out for at least the next two games. They're
hoping he can come back by the end of the series,
but that's not for certain. Um, here's how big this
injury is. Now it's wide open, and the new favorites
to win the NBA title. Are the Golden State Warriors
by far and away. They are the favorites to win
the NBA title. Even if if Booker does come back,

(08:48):
how healthy is he really gonna be? Right? Is he
gonna be limited? Is he able to play forty minutes
a night? I look at thirty one and twenty five
minutes last night in the first half. He was incredible.
He's such a good player. And now it's what are
you gonna do? Sons are gonna really struggle to fill
up and and and fill in for him because Chris
Paul can't do it like that. It's gonna be difficult.

(09:08):
The Warriors have become the overwhelming favorite because the Warriors
are the only team right now that have no problems. Right.
The Sun's got problems right Memphis, Hey, they could lose
this series to Minnesota Dallas. They're just hoping. Look at
don can come back at some point and maybe they
can win Utah. With every passing game and Utah wins
or loses the the the the Donovan Mitchell's story story

(09:30):
gets crazier and crazy. You know, he just wants to
leave faster and faster. Denver's still playing without Jamal Murray.
The teams in the Eastern Conference all have issues, right,
it's overwhelming. Now. The Warriors are the favorites. They they
right now. If if it stays as it is now
and Devin Booker comes back and he can kind of play,
all right, maybe they can get by this series. I

(09:50):
mean maybe, right, that's the thing. Maybe they can get by.
But as they get further on in the playoffs, Bookers
as if he's not healthy, forget it, and this Warriors
are gonna steamroll there way to the NBA Finals and
win the NBA Championship. The NBA playoffs changed like that
with Devin Booker's injury. Yeah, Western Conference a lot of
interest in some of these what we I guess you

(10:12):
would call the secondary matchups, right, I mean Memphis Minnesota
keeps getting relegated to NBA TV. Uh and and those
first two games were fantastic, Yeah, but why do we
don't know if they were really games because it was
then we get them on t N people will get
to see them tomorrow, and then Dallas, Utah will go
to NBA TV and then Denver. I mean, if you're

(10:35):
the Warriors, you've gotta you gotta be careful because the
Nuggets players are fighting each other. Eventually they're gonna start
lashing out at the outside world, which means Draymond Green
and other folks could get caught up in that Tasmanian
devil like uh swirl that goes around with them, So
you gotta be careful. Michael Malone, I don't know that
he's got a handle on things right now. Why don't

(10:56):
you just call me Mike? Uh, why don't you just
go by Mike? But for the Sun's Yeah, it's it's
interesting just how how much of a romp the regular
season was, and even when Chris Paul went out with
the injury for weeks, it didn't matter much like Memphis
when Murant went out, like he just kept rolling and

(11:18):
Booker solidifying a case where he was in the m
v P chatter for a long time. And now you're wondering,
all right, can you eke that much more out of Bridges,
Cameron Johnson other players to make up for lost stats
and Booker is not able to go. You know, the
report is that he's gonna miss at least two uh,

(11:38):
and then you know he'll give it the old college
try and we'll see if you know, there there's some
miracle of miracles to get him on on the court,
uh with a lesser you know, hamstring injury. But he's
had hamstring in your injuries in the past right to
the other leg. So there's that compensation and and and
that kind of fear that goes on as to how
this lingers. It affects them going forward awful lot on

(12:02):
the back of Chris Paul coming up here in short
order against New Orleans team that we've seen. They don't
they don't stop. I mean, it's forty eight minutes. I mean,
not to steal too much from Nolan Richardson, but they
keep coming, all right. They had a terrible start to
the season and then they started playing. They're playing with
house money. I hate using that phrase because I think
it's overused and often wrongly. You you're forty five games

(12:25):
under five hundred, you made the playoffs. Yeah no, that's
house money. No, no, no, But but it's the kind
of thing it gets used often times incorrectly. It's like,
you know, it's like it's like walking into the grocery
store to get something in flip flops and a tank top,
and then suddenly the balloons go off and you're our
one million customer. Oh wow, I'm getting all this stuff
just because I walked in to get something to eat. No,

(12:46):
that that's that's playing with house money. That's so that's
where we're at with with the Pelicans. And and they
can see it right, a little bit of blood in
the water. And everybody kept putting up pictures of Zion going, well,
they've got they've played without their starts, like, no know,
the other guys had a full season to gel and
to do this thing. And brandon Ingram, you could argue,

(13:07):
was the best player. As exciting as Zion is when
he's able to play that, brandon Ingram was going to
be the leader of that team. Oh and then they
picked up CJ. McCollum, who nobody else wanted, who nobody
else wanted. And now here we are where everything could
just be shattered. It's like the multiverse and a spell
getting torn asunder. Put a tape on them. Let's see

(13:27):

walking around saying, oh, there's no pressure on us, Like
that song he tried to say after the regular season,
there's no pressure on us. You're not lying if you
believe it's true. H on a load of crap. How
do I put up with these first world problems that
I've had for the last seven years? Oh my goodness,
he's like that. He's like the billionaire going, oh, I
don't have a big enough garage for my seventeen cars,

(14:10):
Like he's Batman. Oh what do I do? I don't

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

(14:53):

pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and The Heart Radio,
a whip Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with
My best Friend Mike Harmon. This one, this one. This
is from Alex Heishirt's own personal Spotify playlist person. This

(15:14):
is this is what I could just picture, tight shirt
like rolling into work with the windows all the way down,
Blair in this singing wave into the security guard as
he comes into Parker's car. That's actually happened. It's like
it's like me in two thousand five doing the damn
it feels good to be a gangster, like in uh
office face as I go by people and I'm just
doing this and you're rolling up your windows and sitting

(15:37):
down into your seat like Michael Bolt. Oh damn, it
feels good to be a gangst getting voted in Total
White House. I love that song, and he keeps lowering
it when people come by and making it a lot,
lowering it, making it louder. I like that. You didn't
really get on board that until two thousand five, even
though the movie was already six years old. Well, what

(15:59):
I'm saying is know by then it's became a classic,
you know, but the h and you do want to
be prisoner of the moment. You want to make sure
it ages. Okay to the age is age? Fine, everybody
knows what it's like to work in an office. It
was timeless. That's why the office will live forever. Well,
the office that was like, you know, that was that

(16:19):
was done. The thing is office space as good as
it is, it's kind of just a bunch of really
fun stuff cut together, like you know, Jennifer Aniston disappears,
you know, midway Sorry, she like disappears midway through the movie.
It's like, wait, what's happening? What not that he needed
a bunch of cohesiveness because it was just so incredibly funny.
But as a movie you're like, Okay, that's just the
fact that there was never a sequel with the Diedrich

(16:43):
Bader character still still irks me. Just call it Lawrence.
Yea Lawrence, Lawrence A day in the life. Hey Lawrence,
you want to come over? No, no one, You're messing
up my life too. Now that's kind of like what
it might be. Living next to Tisher is like living
next to Laura's like Kai Shirt in a few years
will be Lawrence. Lawrence is probably in his mid thirties

(17:05):
at that point, tie shirt. That to be living next
to tisht Yeah, you think anybody's gonna come after me?
I'm wearing these bad boys. I know, I'm I'm mixing movies.
Think come over wearing these Okay, uh the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Hard. But if you're
a valued customer, you deserve a simple gesture of appreciation
from your credit card company. And that's why I discovered

(17:27):
matches all the catch back. You're at the end of
your first year, discover exceptionally common sense. Learn more. Discovered
dot com slash match limitations they do apply. We'll have
more from the NBA coming up in a few minutes. Again,
another Triple head or Night, Philadelphia and Toronto coming down
to the wire. Nine four raptors have the lead. Will
get an update from David Gascon coming up in a

(17:47):
couple of minutes. But Deebo wants out. It is official.
Deebo Samuel Jets wants out of San Francisco. Jeff Darlington
ESPN breathlessly tweeting out earlier today, because you could tell
it was breathlessly. I just spoke to Deebo Samuel, who
wants a trade from the San Francisco forty niners. It's
it's like hot off the press. Stop. Deebo wants a trade. Stop.

(18:10):
He wants out now stop. Uh so now it's official.
More f them picks offers coming in. Deebo Samuel wants out.
And there's a couple of different takes and a couple
of different layers for this story. The first one is, yeah,
it's not surprising. Uh. He wants to get paid. He
sees all the wide receivers getting paid. He wants to
get paid. He sees the best guys are getting twenty

(18:31):
million a year, and he sees guys that don't deserve it,
Kristen Kirk getting twenty million dollars a year. So yeah,
he's just the latest on that train of Hey, I
want to get paid. It's like a big vortex. I
think whirlwind is is going through your neighborhood. And I
want to jump in a man, and I'm jumping in
the big wide receiver world when everybody's getting paid now,
and I don't want to get left out. Teams are
handing out twenty million dollar a year deals to wide receivers,

(18:54):
and I want it because I'm better than a lot
of these guys, right, That's why he wants That's why
this is going on. And I don't believe for a
second for a second that it was all about the
Niners who want to pay him. They want they will
pay him any day, but Deebo says no one. He
wants a trade. Adam Schefter reports this, Ian Rapp report
reporting this as well a few days ago. Look, there's

(19:16):
certain times when I know not to believe an insider,
and you know Adam Schefter clearly clearly as someone who
is pro organization and anti player right straight now. And
I don't mean just the Dwayne and sensitivity of the
Dwayne Haskins tweet, but it was, Hey, it's it's his
tweets are always when he breaks news. Hey, they have

(19:37):
a slant on them, and they're always slanted towards the team.
They never slanted towards the player. They are slanted towards
the team. Because I get it, you're an insider. You
depend on assistant gms in general managers to give you
tips and aid to let you know what's going on.
But none of his stuff is pro player. So now
something to tweet out. That's Niners want to pay him. There,
that's all that the Niners want to pay him. Um, really,

(20:00):
he's just mad at the Niners for no reason. Hey,
I want to give you over twenty million dollars a year. No,
I don't want it. Really, really, the NFL wide receivers
will take twenty million dollars a year from anybody. Any
team would be the Niners could be, the Jets, could be,
the Lions will give you. We'll give you eighty million
dollars guaranteed. Where do I sign. I don't care where
I play, where do I sign, I'm going to get

(20:21):
paid if you honestly are going to have us believe
that this is all on Deebo Samuel. There's nothing going on.
He just woke up one morning and decided I don't
want to play with the forty Niners. That's a load
of crap. This is forty Niners spin. And the more
you see the forty Niners act, you can see how
how where they are of how things are presented. They

(20:43):
are very aware of slants to stories and how they
want to be in control of everything. And this tells
me that the Niners are a mess right they They're
best player wants out and they still can't find a
way to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo, who is still
the quarterback and still on the team even though they
don't even know if he's gonna play. They could have
traded him seven times over, but didn't do it. You

(21:03):
don't know if Trey Lance is any good, and they're
stuck between playing one guy or the other. The Niners
are like the Lakers of a couple of years ago.
They got lucky. They hit it lucky for like a
year and a half or so, Lebron and a d
they hit lucky with with Shanahan in this mix the
last year or so. But you can now see when
stories of the forty Niners are made public, you go, wow,

(21:24):
they're a mess man for for an organization's supposed to
be that that great and that much of a of
a of a pillar of what we should all look
up to. They're kind of a mess. Man. Then how
many controversial stories that we had about the Niners and
what they're gonna do and what they're gonna trade and
how they're gonna do it. They're all over the place.
So now this comes out, Oh, the Niners want to

(21:44):
pay him, and it's all it's all on d button.
I don't buy it. I don't buy it for a second.
I buy this as forty Niners spin and and whatever happened,
whatever is going on, whatever Debo was upset with the Niners,
He's got to have a reason, because players don't just
wake up and say, oh, you want to give me
that money. I don't want it. I don't believe it
for a second. When stories are broken, I pay attention
to the insiders when they're broken with slants like this. Yeah,

(22:05):
I don't know. I don't know who to believe because
I know what the what the insiders want. They want
access and if they put the organization to favorable light,
they will get favorable treatment and they will get the
phone calls when something happens. So yeah, as far as this,
it's it's all on debo and not not buying at
my carment, not for a second. Well, I mean the
players rotate out right, average career is less than three years.

(22:26):
So you know, you don't need information from them. You
need the funneling of information from organizations. And even though
the principles in a lot of those rules will change
out uh, it pretty much here's the rolodex moving on
down the line, unless you know they can determine that
you screwed them somewhere along the way. And look, forty
niners had all their issues going back. Remember it was

(22:46):
dirty laundry, uh every five minutes. When you go back
to Trent bul Key and and Jim Harbaugh all those
years ago, right, I mean, there was nothing positive. And
here it looked like Lynch and and Shannon and everybody
at least said and fostered some level of uh flow
and continuity. And I don't want to say doing everything right,

(23:11):
but at least the organizational stability outside looking in seemed
to be there. And there's a couple of teams and
you know who they are, forty nine ers or one
of them that whenever there's a piece of information that
comes out from a newsperson insider. Uh, someone doing a
feature on any of the pregame shows. Uh, you know
where it's coming from. And you know the the glowing

(23:33):
reviews shining a guy up really good? Uh? You know
you know what's going on there? Right? If they're the
young genius coach while you're trying to get in, especially
if you're trying to be the new breed of insider,
why do you think there's so much love even if
nothing has been proven for some of these guys, Like yeah,
I can't wait to talk to them. Look what they did?

(23:53):
How great are they? What a genius there? It's like, well, okay,
go in. Uh and then we can slap that tag
and maybe give you a super genius lapel pin. But
for the forty niners and for demo what what's also curious? Jason?
And it's something we talked about quite a bit yesterday
and this was raised a little today of how much

(24:14):
he likes or doesn't like the way he was utilized
this past year. Right, because you can recognize the two
can run, you know, in parallel. You can recognize that
you only became the superstar you truly became because of
your versatility while also saying this is going to kill
my career and I'm never gonna see that third contract

(24:36):
that Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams just got. Right, So
Deevo was a beast obviously, yak off the charts, his
yards per reception, all of that just fantastic in a
an offense that wasn't exactly um explosive down field with
great regularity. And I'm pointing to your guy, Jimmy Garoppolo

(24:59):
because remember as so as soon as it was getting
towards the surgery, what do you have passed to physical
if he'd gotten traded maybe maybe not. If a team
wants him, they would have passed him. Well yeah, but
but you know you that's you say you start getting
into the game. Has been ship of all of that
fun because if he was off the books, then suddenly
maybe you um you can you can shake out a
little more money, uh for debo and just make it

(25:21):
all go away. But if legitimately he doesn't want to
carry the ball sixty times because he's recognized that's probably
a year of his career on the back end, uh
that is hampered, altered or ended prematurely altogether. Uh, then
you know there, you're gonna come to an impass pretty fast,
or you're gonna have to grossly overpay him to where
you're setting a new market because of some hybrid. I mean,

(25:44):
this is a Jurassic World. Hey, you know what we did.
We took the d n A from some of these
great dinosaurs, and look what we've got now, the ultimate
fighting machine. Hey, you know, thirty eight million to my
Russian friend or twenty eight million or whatever. Being you
make a great point because that that's the way. You
know how much I'd love to get Debo right? What
the guy his unique skill set is amazing. If that's

(26:05):
one of the reasons, right, If that's one of the
reasons why Debo doesn't want He doesn't like how he's used.
He doesn't like to go over the middle, he doesn't
like to run the ball as much as possible. You
look at the big video of him getting laid out
in the Rams game was all on social media today.
As much as I love him, if that's the reason,
and he says I don't like the way I'm used,
then I back off him and I go get somebody else,

(26:27):
because I'm sorry, man, but this is the national freaking
football league. And if I'm gonna give you twenty million
dollars a year and your skill set as you can
give me five hundred yards rushing and yards receiving and
be a game breaker, then that's what you're gonna do. Man.
You're gonna go over the middle. You're gonna run jet
sweeps because that's what's gonna help us win. If I'm
paying you a million dollars a year and you don't
want to do that, Okay, I get it right, I'm

(26:48):
not paying you not. But if I'm gonna give you
twenty million a year, you gotta do that. Man. That's
part of what It's part of what makes you the
player you are. If he stops doing that, he's not
going to be the same player. And it's gonna be
why did we pay this guy? We we we know
his agent says it's in the contract. We can't run
jet sweeps with him. Wait a minute, but he scored
eight touchdowns last year. That's a wait a minute. No,

(27:10):
he can't do it, and he won't go over the middle.
You got to throw him the ball outside of the
hash marks, because if you go inside the hash marks,
he won't step in there. In fact, every time he
steps in there is a violation of his contract. You know,
him five million dollars if that's true. If that's true,
then there's I want no part of him. I mean,
it's still a fantastic receiver, but still a fantastic but

(27:30):
that's certainly part of it, right, there are other fantastic receivers.
If he if he wants to eliminate that other part
of the game. Now we're putting him back on par
with A. J. Brown and just ahead of Terry McLaren
and and DK metcalf right. That that extra element is
what made him a superstar and made him a guy
that everybody that defense is feared because you had no

(27:51):
idea what was coming. Is it a is jet sweep?
Is he coming through the tackles? Is he going all
the way around? And then we're hitting him out of
the backfield as a receiver. I mean, what are we
talking about here? Right? And he caused nightmares for defensive
coordinators if legitimately that's part of the beef, and that
was part of the story that started to emerge today again.
He he went on social media, uh and said reporters,

(28:15):
you know, they get paid to report. Uh, and only
a couple of us know me and guy works in
the with the Niners, former agent or still an agent,
and a lot of As soon as you start adding
your entire CV to the start of your profile, it's like,
all right, which job are yet now? And that's what
I want to know? Where yet now? But he then

(28:38):
deleted that tweet, so all right, what what's what's real?
What's imagined? And but the position thing and I raised
it yesterday, So I feel moderately prophetic in this is
that he's looking at it, trying to get that hybrid
and saying I'm in a different category altogether. And the
forty Niners might might legitimately want to pay him, you know,

(29:01):
w R one money, but you're gonna give us the
other part two, right, So now it becomes the well,
all right, that's gotta be worth a couple more million, right,
It's like, well, no, because then we can't make these
other moves, and that's where we get to this fight.
So uh yeah, fun seven or eight days coming up.
I mean we get to follow LaVar Arrington and our
guy Jay Glazer with Rob Stone leading the way next

(29:25):
week on Draft night, I I think we'll be talking
about a lot of movement. I told you, I told
you last week, three big receivers will be traded between
last night and the draft. It's coming close to my
car and it's happening. I told you, man, Well, I
mean it would get you back on track after the
trash that you did to the Phoenix Suns. I hope

(29:47):
you started writing your apology and then and then obviously
the Brooklyn Nets. Yeah, the Sons and the Natzi I
screwed them. Yeah, no, they got Roger. But yeah, oh
nicely done. That was a good early throwing. There. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show

Sports Radio that Jason Smith Show with my best friend

(30:55):
Mike Harmon. My goodness, do we have craziness unfolding in
Toronto right now? Joel Embiid hits a three with seven
tenths of a second left to go after losing the
ball on the possession before. He hits a three to
win the game for Philadelphia one oh four to one

(31:19):
oh one in overtime. James Harden had fouled out the
play before and beat had the ball out at the
out of the arc. He took his eye off it
looking to pass the ball got knocked out of his hands.
It was a horrendous play. Well, sixers get the ball
back with a couple of seconds left, and it's one
of those inbound plays like to Kobe, like when Kobe
would get it and just shoot it right away. Joel

(31:42):
Embiid hits a three to win the game one oh four,
one oh one. The Raptors had seven tenths of a
second left to chuck it in on the inbound and uh,
potentially tie the game. It did not happen. So now
here are the Sixers with a commanding three games to
non lead, and Doc Rivers can walk into the locker room.

(32:02):
Gone saw me. I drew it up that way. I said,
give it to Joel. My teammate said, all we lost
about get it to Joel. It's gonna shoot a three,
and he did it. So really, that's me. I did that.
That's me. I'm responsible. I'm responsible for that. Yeah, crazy
sequence down the end, right, because you had a foul
called on Mbad that would have been challenged if they

(32:22):
still had a challenge. Uh. Instead two free throws made,
and then you have the possession that you described were disjointed,
uh confused right, just a little bit ahead of the
shot clock right, game clock was what twenty four heat
or something like that, and then E Bead just loses

(32:42):
concentration hasn't knocked away, but fortunately they get a time
out two points six seconds left or thereabouts. Uh, and
then you get the inbound turnaround fire at three point
shot over two defenders. Thirty three and thirteen on the
night for Joel and Bead and the elation, the eruption,

(33:03):
and the relief on the face of Doc Rivers. By
the way, the three point victory when he made the
basket to give them the three point lead. That was
their largest lead of the night. M about play that
play now for a guy who is it's gonna be
all of eight seconds before he brings up in his
postgame press conference he should be the m v P. Joel,

(33:24):
can you please talk about I'm the m v P.
I tell I mean, come on, you can't vote for
anybody else it's a regular season or no, it doesn't matter.
I'm the m v P. It makes no difference. But
I mean, I love seeing history. I love seeing something happen.
And look, Joel Embiad as a superstar in this league.
And that is now the signature moment of his career.

(33:44):
You know, the career he's had so far up until now,
full of great moments, great things. That is now the
signature moment of his career. That that turnaround three that
he gets and he's left open. He gets a good
look at it, like that's a shot that if there
but nothing Yeah, no, gonna say, We're gonna let Joel
Embiad take that turn around three. Are you kidding? Of course?
But that was history because that's gonna be the shot.

(34:07):
Any retrospective on Joel Embiad's career, anything that they want
to show you how good he is, any bit of
video and Joel Embiad does something, whatever video they're gonna
show on screen, they're gonna show that shot for the
rest of his career. That was history. That's the signature
moment of Joel Embiad's career and it was history and
we got to see it. And I'm pretty happy with that. Really,

(34:28):
just amazing though, right if you go to the larger
arc and he doesn't want anything yet, so I don't
want to go do the giant a. Let's add a
bunch of paragraphs to his Wikipedia. But remember how his
career started and the guy that was supposed to be
done and now you see the footwork and you see
what this guy does. Uh, and back to back years
you've had just magnificent play. And this shot will be

(34:51):
captured instantly for all sorts of sorts of n f
T and posters, uh. And for people in Toronto, especially
all those empty seats. You of the people that didn't
show up for this game. Tonight, even though they gave
them nice t shirts. They were really nice looking shirts
that were laid out for all of them, and then
a bunch of people didn't show. Uh. There, they at
least were spared the tears after a game that got away. Uh,

(35:15):
let's hear what it sounded like. Here's Joel Embiad's game
winner and career defining moment to trying to break free.
They circle around. It's Joel, he turns, he fires for three.
It's good. He makes a job. The Sixes up taking
the lead. Joel beating a little fie had the Sixes
take the lead. There it is Philadelphia seventies Sixers Radio Network.

(35:37):
A shocking play and a shocking shot for the Sixers
take a three games to none lead. Part of as
Mike said, a thirty three and thirteen night for Embiad
where really everybody else was just kind of their hard
and fouled out. Uh, you know, Maxie was okay, but
clearly not the tyrese Maxie. The first couple of games,
this was Joel Embad's game and again the signal at

(36:00):
your moment of his growl. He got to see it
because it's absolute history. Twitter at how about a Fresca
