(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Let's go, Let's go,
Lett's go. It's already in blank on Fox Sports Radio. Um,
what does second half lines look like in this Son's
Pelicans game tonight? I'm thinking I'm thinking big Phoenix third
(00:45):
quarter here, Aretie, Oh, you think it's gonna be a
blowout here? I'm thinking that we're going left lane, hammer
down the rest of the way. I would say probably
Sons minus four or five, something like that. I'm just
making it up off the top of my head. Anyone
in a gambling legal state want to help your boy out? Now?
Watched it? But where's live? Bet Jesus? When is that
(01:05):
still a thing? On two? Joe? I don't know, bet
Jesus on that second half? Look out? How was your week?
Arnie Spanier to talk until we don't get to talk
until Sundays. This Friday night thing kind of throws me
off a little bit. I want to played a little basketball.
Busy week for me. Were watching a lot of NBA,
so lots to do. That's going on, playing a little basking.
(01:29):
I mean, you didn't have any punches thrown, right, No,
not this time. This is the new league now opened up.
Were one in one last league. There was some punches
being thrown. One guy got thrown out for punching somebody
in the face. But it's a very physical league. That's
the way it is. Don't don't show up. It's not
for the ill heearted. That's I got. I got you.
I mean the mean streets of Vermont um Mont Peeling.
(01:50):
But Bill Lamber might not even want to play in
our league. So speaking of that, I I don't know
why I went back and said someone had posted the
video of Lambier getting punched in the playoffs Barkley. Have
you ever seen Barkley feet? I know it actually wasn't
in the play didn't even get a technical for it.
(02:13):
It was it was almost a brawl. I mean, it
literally was like a Malice of the Palace pre ron
Art tests and in Metal World Peace. His name now
almost said may rest in peace, Metal World Peace? What
are you doing playing? But it reminded you that, you know,
we've always had problems with crazy fans and and guys
getting overly physical. But you're right, um, in that day,
(02:35):
they just said, hey, you guys, calmed down a little
bit here, Okay, no more punches need to be thrown.
I mean the right hook on him. Man, did you
see the Tyson video? And I'm sure good I knew
that kid was messed up, um, just by the way
he looked. Man, you can tell he was riding Mike
and Mike couldn't take it anymore. You know, what would
you do? How drunk would you have to be in
(02:58):
order to be that? Dumb its say something to Mike type,
I told you I had an NFL player. What do
you want to talk about? I'll do real now. I
had a friend of mine and who was in from
Chicago and U I was taking him around. I was
showing him Hollywood and stuff like that, and we pulled
him to a gas station and we're getting gas. I
go some of it, God, I go, who no, that is?
I go, that's Marcus Allen. Of course, you guys remember
(03:21):
Marcus Allen Hall of Famer, right, so for your Los
Angeles Raiders. Yeah, So so he gets into the car, like, hey,
Marcus whatever. He gets into the car, and I have
a black cheep, no doors, no top, so it's a
very recognizable car. And um, he goes, where do you
think Marcus is going? I go, I's probably going back
home because I know where he lives, because he lives,
(03:43):
you know, not too far where I used to live from,
and I know exactly the place he live. So we're
following him back home. He's driving in a convertible. I'm
in a black cheep. We're stopped at a red light.
He is, whoever's driving the car it wasn't him, goes
through the red light. And I turned to my friend,
I go, you know, you don't suppose he did that
to get away from us, do you? And my friend
(04:04):
showing him you creep? My friend goes, no, I don't
think so. Yeah. We've been following him now for like
about twenty minutes because it was the same way we
were going. I go, let's go by his house and
see if you see if it was him, Like, why
why he ran the red light. So as we're going
by his house, he's out in front yard. Why are
you following me? And because he was like going to
and my friend just turns of, he goes, don't stop,
(04:26):
keep going, keep going. He would have destroyed me, absolutely
destroyed me. And um, well I think he would have.
I would have fought back, though you never never know
what happened, right, I think you know what would have happened.
I thought it was Eric Dickerson at once. No, no,
I think you would change this story. And Marcus, Well,
it could be just put in any running back Hall
(04:48):
of Famer. Anybody doesn't make a difference, They'll just put
anybody in there. I'm trying to Barry Sanders wanted to
fight at Barry Sanders and we have a four hour
or show tonight. I mean, there's so many questions, what
the hell are you following him for? Did you? It
was on my way home? It was on my way home.
So I'm like, hey, I'll show you where he lives.
(05:10):
We'll go right by his house. It's on the way home.
Well I didn't like that though. He was really, um,
really upset about that. Well, if so, what year are
we talking about here? It was before um um, I
think he was, well sure, I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
(05:30):
If you remember, there was the there was um some
some famous accusations that were made about Marcus being a
bit of a party animal. Yeah, he probably thought I
was working for Al Davis or something like. Right, I
don't know. I'm just saying. I'm just saying, you never know,
you never know. What do you think? Do you think
you would have stood any chance if you would have
(05:52):
tangled up with him? Were you feeling as feisty as
old boy on the plane? No, I think I'd rather
have taken on Mike Tyson. After seeing the video, Marcus
was upset. I mean, he's and you know, it's a funny.
A year later, I was in Hollywood having lunch outside.
I'm in my jeep um with a girl that I
was going out with, and he came out of his
(06:14):
girlfriend's apartment and he sees my cheep and he starts
walking over and I told I told the girl, I go,
he's gonna come over and kick my ass. She goes,
what what are you talking? I go, I swear he's
gonna come over. He's gonna destroy me. And before he
got to the Cargo Marcus, I go, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Let me explain why I'm here. And I had to
talk to him for about five ten minutes to explain
(06:35):
what's going on. Gosh, man, that's uh. Could you imagine
if you would have thrown a couple of punches and
I'd have to get up and defend myself. Oh, come on,
you're trying to tell me you'd be done that you
don't know about from the bronx Man, I can take
a punch. What chances would you give Arnie span you're
(06:57):
in a fight against he doesn't know how what do
you even know? He has a better chance of becoming Jesus?
There you go. That's Altsashir, who is our fitness guru
and fight coordinator, justin Frostburg producing the show Cab is
our ap D tonight. That's Arnie Spanier on Chris plank
Aarnie the fight starting Spaniard, No no, no longer, the

(07:42):
of quick tweets, Uh, Mr Nobody writes, was lebron asking
for a trade on Twitter because if he's going to
make the playoffs, he'd have to be playing for another team? Now, man,
this is in his vision, this is how he viewed things.
We're supposed to be right, what isn't? Isn't he wanted
(08:04):
Russell Wilson, Russell Westbrook, He wanted Anthony Davis. Why is
it Lebronze fault? And Russell Westbrook's fault, and and and
the coaches fault and Anthony davis is fault for being
hurt all the time? Um, I mean, Mike, get it,
just chucking up the one lousy year and they'll be
(08:24):
back next year if they just get one piece of
the puzzle. But they're never good. We're never gonna know
that because Russell Westbrook won't be on that team. You
think they're gonna move from him? I like these rumors
where people like chance of the Lakers picking me up
to play um then uh, you know, than Russell Westbrook
playing for them next year. I feel like everyone gets
Laker talk cram down their throat seven three six five.
(08:47):
But I'm one of those that can't get enough of it.
So I'll just say sorry, not sorry, real quick, right
off the top. But they are looking for a coach
though there is yeah, they are, which, by the way,
to tell me how quickly you ty j right to
that job when you saw him retire? I did. I
thought about that for about a second. I thought about
it for more than a second. You wouldn't retire though,
(09:07):
if unless you had the job signed, sealed, delivered. I mean,
who's to say he doesn't. I mean, there's there's incognito,
and then there's incognito. Maybe it's a situation where, uh,
maybe it's a situation where they're just waiting for everyone
to have all the good retirement vibes and everything taken
(09:29):
care of on that front, and boom we hit you
with the right cross. He's taken the Lakers job. But
my my, my thought is, more than anything else, aren't
there in cap hell? Even if there is such thing
as a cap in the NBA um they can't really
make a move. They don't have any assets to trade.
I mean, you you kind of are who you are
right now, unless you're gonna take an incredibly lopsided trade
(09:52):
to get rid of Russell Westbrook and or you do
your job in the draft fight Golden State does every year. Well,
they tried, they did their job. I mean, listen, if
there is one thing that's more frustrating than Lebron sitting
there watching the playoffs, is me sitting and watching the
playoffs where some guys that Lebron decided he didn't want
(10:14):
to play with our balling out. And that's what's frustrating
to me. Now again, you have the title, you want
a title with Anthony Davis, but I don't. I don't
know if I consider that a smatching success for the
Lakers right now. No, that's a bad thing. You know,
it's amazing you can win a title then two years
later or you know, a year later, people like it
was a big mistake and you made that you destroyed
(10:35):
the team. You can't have both if you can't do that,
Paul Wretch, thank god Annie wasn't following O. J. Simpson.
You know what, and you've got o J a couple
of times. Wait what, I've met o J a couple
of times. Poster pre pre pre pre the bad stuff. Yeah,
(10:56):
he used to live across the street from a friend
of mine on Karma Lena, remember Carmelina, Right, Yes, I
remember my friend used to live right. I mean I
could throw a tennis ball from my friend's house to
OJ's house. All these ties that you have, I find
them to be more compelling but quite the life, Yeah,
I would say so. And then one more quick one.
(11:17):
I wanted to get here from authentic Allen, who is
No one hates us more than authentic Allen, but yet
no one contributes more than authentic Allen who writes? Why
even care about the hoo paters during the playoffs? Why
NBA TV ratings are up? The same people who hated
(11:38):
on the NBA All Winner are now all of a
sudden trying to hang with the cool kids because everyone
is talking basketball. The culture is globed. The ratings are
up a little bit, yeah, I mean compared to what
it was in the pandemic years. I don't know if
they're up overall, but um, he's kind of right about that,
to be honest, I mean they should have president of
(11:59):
the way. I mean, you're not gonna do baseball. And
I though the draft, well, what is the draft ratings
gonna draw compared to an NBA playoff game? The draft
was Dwarves that, I think, yeah, it does. And then secondly,
I mean, Alan, I'm not here to hate on your point,
but when you say NBA TV ratings are up, I
mean from what what is? What does NBA TV show
(12:23):
that ever draws ratings outside of games? So when you're like, hey,
they're up on NBA TV, will they better be? I
mean you're finally showing a playoff game on there. But
I'm with him. I want to talk about the intricacies
of these series. I want to get into whether the
Brooklyn Nets can find an answer for anything that the
Celtics have done so far, because you're just counting on
(12:43):
Kevin Durant being good and he hasn't been there. I
wanted debate whether or not the Pelicans truly have a
shot in this series, or dive into just how detrimental
some of these injuries, like Middleton's, even though it didn't
seem like much of an issue. To nine are Devin Booker.
But yeah, I mean these are all great topics. Aren't
need to get into more? People are certainly watching NBA
playoffs the CNN Plus. I guess alright again, come on,
(13:05):
let me get one joke in. They're gonna get one
joke in their car a p CNN Plus allright was quick?
How about that? That was as quick of a cancelation
as you've ever had. John Paul Morossy is coming up

(13:46):
we're talking baseball with John Paul Morrossi here on Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm.
Eastern seven pm Pacific. It's Arni and Plank on Fox
Sports Radio on a Friday night, sitting in for Jason
and Mike, and we're pumped to be joined by the
(14:07):
legend John Paul Morrossi at John Morrossi on Twitter. You're
good timing, John, you come on and suddenly the Dodgers
are are rolling, are rolling. Uh bombs from Bets and
Arnie always love our conversations, and yes, uh, perfectly timed
Mookie bets the tying shot of course, then Max with
(14:28):
them ahead. So it's been a fun, fun series to watch.
Tomorrow should be great as well. And guys, it is
just great to have baseball back. And I think alreadys
some really compelling storylines. Miguel Cabrera at two thousand, ah,
so close, So there's some great stuff to talk about
right now. Yeah, this is not a popularity contest. You
(14:49):
can't say, well, just pitch to him. Let's see if
he gets number three thousand. Forget that there's runners on
base and it's a close game in first base is open?
What is wrong with people? You can't picture? There's there's
a hundred, there's onion, fifty games left. I'll get his
three thousand head. It's just not going to be in
front of you guys. I think that was crazy that
people were ripping the Yankees for that. Well, a couple
of things there. Number One, if you were a fan
(15:12):
watching that and you wanted to boo, I have no
issue with that, because that's your emotional reaction. You're a fan.
Of course you're entitled to have that emotion, and and
God bless you for doing that. But I also think
that as an analyst, that was a clear case to
put mcguell on first base, and Aaron Boone could not
possibly incredibly give the answer afterwards that hey, you know,
(15:33):
I wanted there to be a great moment for baseball
against us in a close game. No, if he had
said that, we'd still be talking about twenty four or
forty hours later, and they would never forget that in
the history of sports radio in New York. So there's
no way that Eric could just let that happen, even
though he and Miguel go way back, they played together
(15:55):
in Florida years and years ago. But you have to
manage to win the game. You cannot ever stop managing.
I think Aaron did right by his team, didn't end
up working out in the end because Meadows got the
base hit. But I think in general, Aeron did the
best job that he could in that situation. And I
think Miguel, also, by the way, handled it great. He
he sort of gestured for the fans to settled down
(16:18):
a bit, and then after we'd talked about and say, listen,
we we won the ball game. That's the most important.
So I you love it when a player gets the
big context, which mcgull cabrera does. So I want to
circle real quick back to the Dodgers as wing out
with John John Paul Morossia John Rossi on Twitter. I
just love how fluid, how perfect this fit has been
(16:38):
with Freddie Freeman. And again everyone's followed his career, we
know what he did in Atlanta. But you're going into
a locker room where you have some established leaders, you
have some guys that obviously have been around that team
for a while. I mean, I just I don't know, John,
it seems like it's been an incredibly smooth move for
both teams. It has been, And to your point, I
think just as important is at Olson going to Atlanta.
(17:01):
What a tremendous fit he is there, not only because
he's from Georgia, but Matt Olson one of the best
two way first basement that we have in the game
right now. And I think for Freddie, You're right, helps
certainly that he spends the off season living in California.
Of course, he grew up there, so I think from
that standpoint, if he was going to leave Atlanta and
go anywhere, that was the place to go. And I
(17:22):
still think there has to be a huge part of
him that wishes he was still in Atlanta. And I
love that he has never run from that emotion. He
has never tried to say that, Oh, I've never given
any thought to it. I'm just talking about the team.
It's in front of me. No, he I think he
leans into the complexity of the moment. He's the father
(17:43):
of three, he gets it. I think he really understands
the meaning of those relationships. And I was there Monday
in l A and Guys, I gotta tell you, he's
one of the coolest regular season games I've ever covered
because of how meaningful it was to the person who
was in the It'll love the conversation that being Freddie Freeman.
I loved how authentic he was, and of course he's
(18:05):
the hero. He it's a home run in his first
app bat against the Braves. Are you kidding me? How
special that was? So I just think on a lot
of levels, guys, that everybody here has handled it well.
And I think Freddie also referencing and mentioning how important
it was for him to part on good terms with Alexanthopolis.
They had a three hour FaceTime that's like the record
(18:28):
for longest FaceTime ever. And so if that's the case,
that really I think sets a good tone for going forward.
And we think about how many athletes leave franchises in
the relationship is never repaired. There's this animosity going forward.
I think that Monday was a celebration of just how
classy Freddie is and how classy the Braves are that
(18:49):
they could part. Uh, they couldn't come to a deal,
but they left his friend, and then they got a
pretty good lesson for all of us. You know, Jp,
I know you're a long time baseball guy. You just
love the game and there's some bad stuff going on
right now. And um, well, a's what two thousand fans,
but their Triple A team had like five thousand fans.
The Reds two in twelve. The Reds were one of
(19:11):
the historic franchises when I was growing up, the Big
Red Machine. They had like one of the best teams
in like the history of baseball. And the O's agains.
I mean, are the os there? There are four nine?
They were an historic team, the Orioles, the A's, the Reds.
How do we fix it? Why is this happening? What's
going to happen? I don't even know. I mean, those
(19:32):
are three men, I know, you Joe Rudy and the
A's and Gene Tennis and and those uniforms, remember that, JP. Sure,
those beautiful Kelly Green uniforms. Whenever you bring up the
Kelly Green I'm always a fan of that there with Oakland.
But you're right, M a few points. I think number
one of these three topics, the A's are are the
(19:53):
one that probably merits the most thorough examination in the
long term. We should also point out they're still playing
respectable baseball despite all those issues that I look today,
they've scored the third most runs in baseball to see it,
So how about that? Pretty remarkable? Many more runs, by
the way than what the Yankees have scored. So it's
it's pretty interesting that they're still playing a really good
(20:15):
caliber of baseball. You have to credit Mark his first
season ever as a manager, and here's the hand that
he's that he's been dealt with all the players leaving.
So so I think it really just speaks to what
a classy person Marcus to handle things as well. But
I do think in your reference the Triple A Club,
of course, that is in Las Vegas, and and there's
been a lot of conversation, could the A's leave the
(20:37):
East Bay and moved to Vegas And if they don't
get some momentum going on a ballpark soon, you'd have
to think that becomes more and more of a possibility.
It's sad. It's sad that you think that as of
five years ago, uh, that they had three different teams
playing at that site there at the Coliseum, the Raiders
(20:58):
and A's at the stadium, and then of or said
the Warriors in the arena, and that very soon we
could see no teams playing there. It's it's a pretty
sad story, really, it is, especially when you point out
all the great history of the Aids have had, But
when you don't have a new ballpark and and the
location of the current one is not optimal in terms
(21:19):
of where the population is living right now. Uh, that
there is a tremendous site that the AIDS have looked
at downtown there on the water, which would be amazing.
But if you can't get the land access and if
it's not going to work out for various political, governmental,
environmental reasons, if it's not gonna work, then I do
think it's reasonable to start looking elsewhere. And that's where
(21:40):
the Vegas conversation comes. In Cincinnati, obviously it's been a
rough start to the year for them. Uh. They had
to move a lot of players as well for their
own economic reasons. I think it speaks to whether it's
the Threads or the Orioles too, that certain franchises are
still not feeling as though they can impete in the
(22:00):
current rules of baseball. And so while by and large
it's it's a positive thing. It's of course a positive
thing that we have a new c b A and
a new working agreement to bring the sport forward, there
are still some teams left behind, and I'm sure that's
that's a necessity. It's not a necessity, but it's the
reality of of perhaps all sports. There's always gonna be
teams that are struggling or not as well off as
(22:22):
the others, And I think the the ideal is that
you look at the NFL and others where they've been
able to bring up those those smaller clubs, the smaller
teams and make them more competitive. I think that's now
the charter where baseball has to find a path to
to help these teams that really need the boost and
revenue or just the overall lifting their competitiveness to bring
(22:43):
more fans back into the ballpark. I know we're short
on time, but does baseball want to get into Vegas
like you know we saw hockey, Well obviously now the NFL.
Does baseball get this since that it needs to get
into Vegas? I think so, And certainly we all understand
and see the sports gambling element of baseball becoming more prevalent,
(23:04):
and that's just that's a reality we're we're we're witnessing
it more. Whether or not, you know whether or not
that means a team has to be in Vegas, I
think is is still to be determined. But there's no
question that if you're gonna have gambling as a greater
part of your sport, to have a team in Vegas
makes a lot of sense. And from a marketing standpoint,
(23:24):
partnership standpoint, could you imagine one of the casinos having
their name on the ballpark, building it wherever it would be. Uh,
there's just a lot of synergies that exist with this
revenue stream of the game that's growing more more and
more I think prevalence. So for me, I think by
the end of this decade, I would be I think
(23:44):
there's a better chance than not. I'll say this, there's
a better chance than not that by we have a
major League franchise in Las Vegas. Man John Paul Morosey,
keep up the great work and enjoy the games this weekend.
Thanks love the conversation, guys, have a great weekend. Thanks
for the call. It's kind of wild when you think
about it. And I know Todd Ferman's coming up in
what exactly two hours from now, But I mean, there
(24:06):
was a time when Vegas was like a scarlet letter.
It's like, oh, yeah, don't you dare, don't you dare?
I want to do anything in Vegas, And now everyone's
just clawn all over themselves to try to get in there. Chris,
when I when I first started sports talk. They told
you not to give out the lines on the air
or the point spread. Remember when Chris Berman would do
his selections, he could have his team winning six, but
(24:28):
the little check mark would go to the team with
twenty six meeting the points. You weren't allowed to say that,
you know what I mean? You could say it. The
first chance you ever had to see the lines were
in the USA Today or Danny Sherritt to not remember,
and you'd have the lines printed in the in the
back of the paper, and that was like the first
time you have a chance to see lines. You know,
old school baby, you gotta love all right? Hey, be
(24:49):
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. Hey,

Hushman's otta and Super Bowl champion. That's right, Plexico Birds.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game, We're going to be

to Up on Game with Me, LaVar Arrington, t J.
(25:31):
Hudgman's Otta and Plexico Birds on the I Heart Radio app,
Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast from here.
He is the most ridiculously accomplished quarterback in the National
Football League maybe ever? Yeah, ever, I think that's fair.
And he's still taking haircuts whenever it comes to his contract.
(25:54):
That's just Giselle has a big part of time success
than we really know that. Oh yeah, why is that? Well,
if she didn't have the money that she has, he
wouldn't be taking all those bay cuts. Maybe. Well, I mean, okay,
that's that's a nice way to put it. I mean
that even without necessarily taking these pay cuts, if you will,
(26:16):
Tom Brady still doing okay, yeah, but how much you
think he's left on the table during his NFL career? Oh,
I mean just maybe at the least, right, Yeah, I
have a lot of money, big boy, to leave on
the table. You look at the concert and I don't know,
I argue with people if you call it spot rack
(26:37):
or spo track whichever way you go. Um, but you
can go down a rabbit hole. I mean you just
think about Yeah, but you don't know how much he's
going to get compared to how much he restructured and
lost out on. That's what I don't know. Oh, I know,
but let's just even consider you know, you go back
to his final deal with the New England Patriots. Was
(26:59):
it twenty three million dollars? Ridiculous? That's ridiculous. I mean,
Derek Carr is getting thirty five right now and his
is considered a great deal, and that was two years ago.
I mean even even his deal right now with Tampa
and I needed to check that the updated numbers, it
was still a two year, twenty five million dollar contract.
(27:20):
I mean, he's only in two The starting quarterback for
a Super Bowl contender is only an eleven million dollar
capit right now, and you know, obviously he's gonna be
a Miami Dolphin after this upcoming season. Can you become
Can you get a new quarterback after winning the Super Bowl?
I know you get a new quarterback after going to
(27:41):
the Super Bowl like the Rams did, but after the
Dolphins win it this year, I don't know how you
could make a change of quarterback. It's a great question.
It's a great questions as they win the Super Bowl,
what you're gonna do, which, by the way, I know
you didn't have it in your in your laundry list
of topics to get into tonight. And don't worry, I've
got the Christmas sched Joel More on the Lebron comment.
(28:02):
We'll give our playoff grades to kick off our number three.
We got Todd Fermant coming up next hour into Sager's update.
So I've got all your topics here because that's you
know that, that's how I roll, and I care. But
are you in a buy or cell mode when it
comes to Tom Brady? Do Miami Dolphin rumors likely pull
(28:23):
your fandom out of it? I need it. I don't
think it's gonna happen. I think they're with the new coach.
They're all in on on to uh. I don't don't
mean making it happen, Aren'tie? Do you buy that it
was a legit thing? Absolutely oncent? I know, I don't
think somebody just kind of made this up said hey,
watch me start a rumor about Tom Brady and we'll
(28:43):
see how many people gonna believe us. No. I I
believe it was a real I believe it was a
real thing. I find myself having a hard time believing this.
And I think that some rumors got started and some
information started to spreade got nuts. I just feel like
there'd be more to it than just my floorial report. No, no, no.
(29:03):
But I think the reason it's true is because it
involves him being part owner. And that's the nixt logical
step for Tom Brady is is being a part owner.
I don't doubt that there might have been some conversations
with Steven Ross and and I and I've read everything
on this right, I get it there Michigan man, they're
gonna stay together. He would never take Jim Harbaugh from Michigan.
(29:24):
Blah blah blah. But it's just I don't know, Arnie.
I feel like with a story like that, Jay Klaser
would be all over it, or there'd be something more
than just like a few reports and what seems to
be a very focused effort on Mike Florio to to
really get to the truth of this story. Not too
many families um husband and wife teams couldn't afford um
(29:45):
to put up big money except for Tom and Gisel.
So um, yeah, I I that's why I believe it's
very pot Now. Of course, you don't put up your
own not a lot of your own money. You put
up a little bit and you borrow the rest. But
there's some rich people in the NFL, no doubt about that.
Tom and Gisel are among them. All right, when we
come back, we'll rather they go No, no, wait a minute,
they're not even close to like the owner of the
(30:09):
rams or um. Well not many people in America are
going to be closer. Stand cronky, aren't he? But Stan Cocky.
Whatever you have in your pocket, that's that's the only
thing Stand doesn't have is whenever you have in your body.
All Right, we'll come back, wrapping up a little bit
more Brady talking some NBA updates with Arni and Planking
for Jason and Mike on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure
(30:29):
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
It's Arni and Plank. This is up late for you,
are you okay? Yeah? Usually I'm in bed by like
nine o'clock out here in Vermont, so yeah, yeah, I'm
very up, very late today. You want to get an
idea of the culture. And this is from a guy
(30:50):
that lives in Oklahoma, so I can't make fun of
it too much, but you literally your your mailman comes
what twice a week and two to three times a week.
His leg is better, but we still don't get the
mail every day. So when we get it, we get
like a whole bunch um. We get like three days
worth of mail at once. So lest we go to
the post office and picking up ourselves, which is just
(31:13):
like Mr is that? Like? Is that Mr Haney? No,
that's not Mr Haney. I think I thought I thought
Mr Haney was the Christmas Pooh right, no, no, and
South Park fans and he wants, oh, that's right, Mr Hanky,
Mr Hanky, the Christmas Pooh. Come on, Arnie. It's a
classic single law. A couple of quick tweets to get
(31:33):
to before we wrap up our number two and oh,
by the way, our number two brought to you in
part by Discover. With prices soaring at the pump, Discover
has your back with cash back. Use Discovered earned five
percent cash back at gas stations and Target now through
June on up to fift hundred dollars and purchases when
you activate learn more Discover dot Com. Slash rewards limitations apply. Okay, Fern,
(31:57):
my man, Fern in Vegas, right, we don't want these
here in Vegas. They want three hundred million dollars in
taxpayer money. I don't know why that's a problem, especially
when it's a vacation destination like Las Vegas. You just
raise the quarter percent sales tax for rental cars and
hotels and then you're fine to go. Well again, I
(32:21):
don't disagree, but I'm also not goscious of such a
cop outtake. I just you can make fun of me
if you want, but I'm not on the ground in
in in Vegas. Maybe we'll ask Todd coming up next hour,
what he thinks about famillion. That's nothing you can. You
can give them that money pretty easily, and I understand
you want the owners to put up their own money,
but that that you could probably raise that money in
in like a year if you if you text, don't.
(32:43):
I wonder if that's why they have resort fees now,
because there's so much tax that I don't know that
we have to find these are all good Todd firm
in questions or maybe my man Fern can help us out.
Paul writes, I'm convinced the executives had seen in saw
Rex Chapman's TV skills during the n c A tournament
and decided losing three hundred million dollars was better than
(33:03):
giving him a show. You know, I used to go
on CNN a bunch member for a long long time. Yeah,
and they still call me up and I'm like, whoa,
you know I'm not you know, No, I don't think so,
I can't. I don't have time now. But um man,
I can't believe after one month that whole CNN plus
thing right down the tubes. That is embarrassment. I've had
(33:25):
some horrific failures in my career. I think everyone has
in their life, right, but I think I've at least
made it a month in most situations and settings. I
made one radio job three days. Wait, what I mean
one on the job or something. Yeah. I just knew
it wasn't gonna be good for me. It wasn't a good,
(33:47):
but it was. It wasn't a sports radio place. It
was a music place in in the Florida Keys. Why
would you take a job at a music radio. It
was it was like my first job. So I needed
a job. So I took a job in a music station.
I didn't know how to talk on the air, and
I was given the weather and I did three days.
I go, this isn't for me, and and I said,
(34:07):
I went into quit. The guy goes, yeah, just tell everybody,
don't say think anybody. I'll take care of it, um
and goodbye. Yeah, he doesn't have He wasn't happy with
me at all. It wasn't a good job. Allen's mad Ami,
He writes, Wait a minute, did Plank just say I
don't know if winning the title was a smashing success?
Don't date drug test at Fox Sports Radio? I guess everybody,
(34:31):
But tell Arnie, the TV ratings are more than just
a little up nice try. It's called sports media. Watch.
Your narrative is dead. Said ratings were off. It's not
like it's through the roof. Relax yourself, how dare you, Arnie?
And it's compared to the pandemic, which we were all
of course we're going to make the ratings go out. Listen.
I'm just here to tell you every single time that
(34:54):
I tried to talk up the Lakers winning the title
in twenty Immediately, what has it become too? Bubble didn't matter,
they didn't have to play in any hostile crowds, and
it was weak. And so again I'm just telling you
my experience. Every time I bring this up, I'm not
(35:14):
saying it's right, but Arnie, anytime I try to say, yeah,
of course, and Lebron's gonna worn't they want a title,
I just get destroyed. I know we're short on time,
but I don't want to be back in my day.
But seriously, when I first got in sports radio, the
n b A was a big topic. You know that. Well,
of course you had Michael Jordan had the Bulls teams,
you had the Celtics teams, you had the Knicks teams,
had some really good teams back then, and I think
(35:36):
it got more play on sports radio than it does now.
Well I still think, like, for example, if if you
listen to Fox Sports Radio, um leading into Jason Smiths
show with with the Odd Couple, they talk a lot
of NBA three hours every single night. I have no
problem with it. I love it. But I just think
whenever we're getting into this debate about the eight and
(35:59):
Lebron and and whether or not it's gonna work. When
you try to use Arnie the example of the Bubble Championship,
you're usually crushed and then everyone wants to compare as
you're talking about ratings to oh Man, Well that you know,
after COVID has blown up. Everything was kind of down
during COVID, believe it or not as far as numbers
(36:19):
are concerned. So it's hard to figure out where it's
spot is in the TV landscape right and in the
topic conversation too, because more people, based on what I
watch on TV, I want to hear about the NBA
than anything else. But yet whenever we sit down to
do the show, it's, oh gosh, you guys, get past
the NBA. I'm tired of hearing about it. Move on?
Did they want to They want to hear about the
(36:41):
Lakers who are in the NBA Golden status in the NBA.
They don't want to hear about the other teams. Couldn't
care less about the Milliwall Key Bucks. All right, we're
half way home. Todd Ferman's coming up next hour, Actually,
Todd Fermans in the final hour of the show, we
got the Sager's update coming up at the top and
bottom of the next hour, and when we come back,
I'm gonna empty out the draft notebook. I got a
(37:01):
few things to share with you, including what's going to
happen with the number one pick. It's all coming up
next on Fox Sports Radio.
