In hour one of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, Jason over-celebrates the Mets coming back in a big way against the Phillies in the 9th inning. Plus, Dillon Brooks has been suspended 1 game for his flagrant foul in game two against the Warriors, but Jason still thinks the NBA dropped the ball on his punishment. (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon,
where we may have to throw the entire show out
with the Mets scoring seven runs in the ninth inning
to take the lead over the Phillies eight to seven.

(00:45):
Everything else we did, it's just filler, NBA playoffs, NFL news.
Tom Brady has been lying to us for twenty years.
Uh seven in the top of the ninth for the Mets,
Mike Harmon. We're tout seven to one, and they just
keep hitting and hitting and hitting and hitting. Mike Harmon.

(01:05):
Mike Harmon say something. I had to wait for you
to need to take a breath because you were so excited,
and I wanted to make sure to incurse on air.
I might hyperventilate it, so I mused my microphone just
to make sure, because as I watched this inning unfolding,
I've got the Stanley Cup playoffs on my my television

(01:28):
and I'm watching things start to escalate there in Philadelphia,
and I may or may not have uttered several I
don't even know that those words have ever been hyphenated
and put together, but they were just now because there's
so much fun now. Obviously I was lamenting to our
guy don, our technical producer tonight, the fact that we

(01:51):
don't have any live NBA to break down. But I
sure as hell was not wanting to see this happen
because then it it becomes about the Mets. Were already
getting tweets for people saying, over under, how long I'm
sticking with the show because we're talking about Mets all night.
Saw a lot of angst and consternation in that regard.

(02:12):
There's no question about it, but uh, look, we love
big rallies. The fact that the saga was fired up
about it, you know, it really does kick it off
in a whole different way. And I I was trying
to think of some story that that could override it.
In the moment, I was furiously going through all of
my social media accounts, and other than trying to just

(02:35):
get people to do a poll about which is the
greatest Star Wars fight of all time? I got nothing. Well,
here's the thing. It's like, in the last five minutes,
things went a hundred and eighty degrees for a couple
of big things. Right, we'll get to Tom Brady, who's
been lying again. Tom Brady has been lying to us
for two decads. But hey, hey, hey, he didn't lie
about anything. He's bay. He's been lying, he's been lying

(02:57):
to us. We got the proof. But two big things
things happened eight degrees. I'm like, oh my goodness. One
is the Mets seven run ninth that eng which, oh
my god, oh my god. The second thing is reviews
from Doctor Strange. You're starting to come out. And I
was really nervous because last night, you know, for some
of the premiers, it was odd GE's kind of messy.

(03:18):
It's a you know, it's a two star movie. And
I'm saying, oh my goodness, I really hope this multiverse
is gonna get so messy. I'm so nervous about Marvel.
And now some reviews are coming in and Doctor Strange
just playing pretty well. So now I'm excited about Doctor Strange.
You want to see it this weekend? Yeah, I've kind
of fired up about it. My my daughter is gonna
go with a bunch of her friends tomorrow, obviously excited

(03:41):
to see. You know what Sam Ramy's got going on, Sam,
because he's fantastic. But back to the Mets thing for
a second, because this is really why I wanted to
get this off my heart. I think I've been a
pretty good person lately, you know, just lately maybe for you,
but I mean, Morty some odd years of your life now.

(04:03):
But that wasn't the point check. It was. I think
I've really been a light for people, right this Mental
Health Awareness month, checking in on people, trying to bring
people together, being a decent mentor, I think to some folks,
not only in our building, but you know, some folks
thinking about where they're going to college and offering some
ins and all of these things where I think I'm

(04:25):
living right. And then the Mets score seven runs in
the ninth and I say I did everything I was
supposed to. You're like west Wing when Bartlett was yelling
at God. Did I not raise a family? Did I
not cut unemployment. Did He's he's walking up and down
the cathedral and he's yelling at God. Did I not

(04:45):
do all these things? Did I not did? Did I
not praise you all? I get it? I get it,
I guess. So. I mean that was pretty well done, right,
That was pretty well orchestrated right there. It was just,
you know, extemporaneous speaking, open mouths, say things. That's what
we do here in the things here on Fox Sports Trading,
there was no script. I'm actually looking at a tops
rookie card of Tylre McGill on my desk right now

(05:07):
that I was gonna put in a sleeve and and
give to you. But now that they scared seven runs
in the ninth, I may burn it. Uh, And it
doesn't matter because now the game is over. The Mets win,
Edwin Diaz closes it out. I'm ready for the World Series.
I've ready. Screw everything, I'm ready for the World Series.

(05:27):
We don't need the rest law. I'm written thirty game now.
I'm ready. I'm ready for the World Series. You know
I'm ready. You just hoist the trophy. I was ready
for Mets Dodgers NLCS A couple of weeks ago, two
days ago, I was ready for the Mets Yankees World Series. No,
now I'm just ready give us the trophy. Now, I
just want the trophy and hold it up and go.
Yet now I'm ready for that. Look at how excited

(05:49):
you are and doctors strange and probably what a nice
sandwich maybe a burger that will show up at your
desk a little later on in the show. I mean
there's a lot owing on positivity here out of Thursday night.
Uh And and I like your your thrust with the
the metsine and the excitement that you have. We'll see

(06:12):
how it carries you through the summer. For me, I
got a two games sweeping the Cubs at Wrigley Field,
followed by an off day. White Sox are surgeon and
starting to get healthy, so all's right with the world.
Maybe we could have a collision course where those two
teams meet and I can get to show you around
my hometown for a game. How about that? All right?

(06:33):
Take it? Well, We'll get some breaded steak sandwiches. Breaded
steak sandwiches, yeah, some Jardon air and some beautiful red
sauce on their lots of cheese. Yeah, No, it's good. Yeah, yeah, alright,
now you got me thinking about food. But Mets, I
get it off the bat. Did you see how genius

(06:54):
that was? I got him thinking about cheese, and even
for a moment, it made his rain The synapses stopped
firing because he started thinking about food. And then once
again it was like the crackle and he's moving the
antenna around like, ah, there it is. Mets, Mets, Mets, Mets, Mets.
Are you ready for a stat from Jimmy traina? Are

(07:15):
you ready for this? The last twenty five seasons, the
Mets were oh and three hundred and thirty, so zero
wins and three hundred and thirty losses when trailing by
at least six runs in the ninth inning. The Mets
win tonight eight seven, biggest comeback win in twenty five years.
They are now one and three hundred and thirty when

(07:38):
trailing by six runs. And did he give us the
rest of Major League teams in that scenario? Because I
gotta imagine that's not that rare. Oh come on, how
many times of teams come to scored six runs the
nine seven runs the ninth thinning to win a game?
That doesn't happen that often? I'm saying with a sample
size of like, that's what I mean is that it
doesn't happen that often, so then getting it done maybe

(07:59):
once a year. Maybe maybe I'm just statistics that you
just kind of shrug, going okay, maybe once you're a
team will do that, because that's only really impressive if
other teams are doing it with some regular Uh. But boy,
I'll tell you what um now just for because you know,
the best story is always in the losing rock locker room.

(08:21):
But not really, this is about the Mets. Think about
Philadelphia for a second. Alright there, down to Zip in
the East and Beads not coming back in Game three,
and now, okay, well the Phillies are gonna We're gonna
take one out of the Mets or up seven one Nope, Nope, nope,
going on with a big fat L. And Philadelphia is
just like New York, where every win and loss it's
either it's the greatest thing in the world or everything

(08:42):
is awful and I'm ready to stop watching sports forever.
That's what tonight is gonna be in Philadelphia, man, I'll
tell you no. It's great though, great for local radio.
A lot of shouting, I mean you can do the
phone calls all night long. You don't have to work
at all. Kick your feet up. Was this the greatest
come back in baseball history? Eight seven seven five? With

(09:04):
prices soaring at the pump, discovers got you back with
cash back. He was discovered to earn five percent cash
back at gas stations and target now through June on
up to fifteen dollars in purchases when you activate. Learn
more at discover dot com. Slash rewards limitations they do apply. Well,
we will have more on this Mets win, on this
incredible Mets win. It's Mets yet, it's Mets. Nice. Yeah,

(09:28):
let's start setting up the Kentucky Derby cars. Listen, let's
go race by race, big winners. Dude, We're setting up
the World Series now. We're ready for them, ready for
the World's rank, all the Marvel movies. I don't know.
I don't want to talk Mets all night. We can
do that too, But this, I mean, this win is
I mean, this is something. This is not. This is
World Series type stuff only because it's over the Phillies. Uh.

(09:48):
And again that Bryce Harper did hit a home run?
Oh and he he hit one that that was a
I think NASA is tracking it. It's deep and as
soon as he hit and I was like, oh, that's
not even don't even run. Showed up on the norraday
for folks that are early track in Santa Clauses where
about it's like, don't even bother going back, that's where
one of the home runs where Barry bonds. You should

(10:08):
just stay and not even turn around and say that's
a home run. Not even gonna do it? Why why
is he stretching his knees and nothing? No, not even
I got all these folks going, this is gonna be
a long four hours. I'm not gonna do it. I'm
not gonna do it. Hang with us. We're gonna make
it funny, or at least I will. I'll get him
off of this. Listen, listen, just just just listen. Danny

(10:31):
did hang with us? What a what a what? You're
calling people out what he did? Stop it? No everything
they're telling me they hate you already. Oh just stop.
You know what, people hate greatness. It happens. People hate
great Uh. But I am ready for the world series
not ready for the world. Uh. The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Carmon. Now what we gotta

(10:51):
get into. Uh coming up in a couple of minutes
is Tom Brady lying to everybody, which we will. But
no NBA tonight, which is kind of weird New Stanley Cup.
People will turn on t NT going what is this?
Where is the NBA play I don't understand when we
got hockey. Uh so no NBA games tonight. But we
did get the one big piece of news that Dylan

(11:12):
Brooks suspended for Game three against Golden State after the
foul that uh not Gary Payton out for likely the
rest of the playoffs with that bad elbow injury. UM.
I don't know how the NBA thought this was enough.
I really don't. He needed the series and he need
a multiple game He needed a three game suspension. At
least we don't have our player for the rest of

(11:34):
the series and beyond. I get that you can't push
it a certain number, but they need to be without
him for the rest of the series because that was
as dirty as it gets. It's a it's a player
in the air and it's from behind and he doesn't
make a play on the ball. This is this is
the suspension you put out there that says, Yep, this
is a multiple game suspension. This is something no one
can argue about. And I can't believe the NBA went
really weak on it and that that is not a

(11:56):
satisfactory punishment. And the other part of it is the
worst part is that this series now is gonna stay
physical and chippy and more players could possibly end up
getting hurt because this does not This does not do
anything for the Golden State Warriors. They're gonna take to
the court, they're gonna be pissed as hell because, oh,
this guy gets one game. We lose a guy for
the playoffs on about as dirty a play as you

(12:16):
could possibly imagine. And they lose a guy for one game. Yeah,
you think that's gonna stop it. No, but if you
suspended him for the rest of the series, which is
what he should have gotten, Okay, let's reset. Now your
guy got hurt, Our guy is out for the playoffs. Okay,
we we got to get down here and play basketball. No,
there's still too much blood lust out there for this.
I I sometimes look, the NFL is really wild, and

(12:40):
they they swing the pendulum when when they make decisions
on certain punishments. But the NBA is just it's hard
to figure out why something is is, Oh, this is
absolutely a flagrant too in a suspension, and it's well,
is it really? And then another one could be, well,
here's a guy getting hit from behind, the guys in
the air, it's dirty. Guy broke his elbow. Yeah, the
only one game at the end is a complete epic

(13:00):
fail by the NBA and the Dillan Brooks. Yeah. I
think part of it is, I guess going back to
the play itself, right, and you have to not listen
to medical reports and judge it based on the play
and to a person, I think anybody that's watched it
has come to the conclusion of, hey, it's dirty, it's

(13:21):
out of sorts. It's a frustration fall as much as anything,
because I don't know that that's been said as much
as it should have tried to bang the drum with that, right,
because it's not a premeditated Hey I'm gonna hammer this guy.
It was a all right, I'm I'm struggling and I'm frustrated,
and I go and I make a really bone headed

(13:42):
play that's got to be looked at independently of all right,
can we establish how long Peyton is going to be
out and then adjudicated accordingly. Yeah, I don't think you
can do it that way. I don't think you should
do it that way. But one game we've seen guys
loaded up from for less. But I guess we were

(14:05):
trying to have it both ways as a as a
media and as as fans of the game. Jason and
that a lot of folks want rough and tumble. Hey,
you know, that's just a good heart playoff file and
then try to figure out where the line is versus hey,
that's dirty, we shouldn't have it. This is the NBA
in you know what I mean? Like there, I think

(14:27):
people are trying to talk out of both sides of
their mouths with some of this in terms of what
they expect from the playoffs versus the way the game
is legislated today against playoffs in history and for this one, yeah,
I don't. I don't think there's anybody that disagrees, uh,
that this was over the line. And then now you

(14:49):
were judging intent in terms of trying to add those
extra games to it. So this is the one game
opportunity for the Warriors to take advantage coming a pool.
Whoever has to step in it's unfortunate that Peyton's hurt,
but they made the move and moved on. So uh
for the NBA. Look, if Adam Silver and his team

(15:11):
are always gonna get credited for stuff, we've got a
trust to judgment here, don't we. I say that. I
I say that with sarcasm stripping down from folks if
you if you forgot my sarcasm font on radio. Look,
I get where it's hard to judge into sort of,
but this was pretty black and white. This is from
behind the guys in the air. It doesn't make a

(15:33):
play on the ball. That's it's pretty easy. I mean,
if you're gonna try to judge intent, this is where
you judge intent, right, I mean Draymond Green at least, look,
Draymond Green deserved to get tossed. He pulled the guy down.
At least he tried to hold him up a little
bit at you know, what's tiny bit, you know, But
immediately went over to Peyton to see if he was hurt.
So should he get points for that? Did you not

(15:54):
see him straight under the stanchion to say I'm sorry
you okay? If I woke up to the street and
you go, hey, do what tup? I go, hey, Mike
and boom, but it's here. You say, but it's the
same thing as the Draymond But that was at least
that was But in this case pay was going on right. Well, look,
obviously Draymond Green, it's two different plays. But Draymond Green

(16:17):
while the play was going at least tried to hold
him up a little bit. Doesn't mean still wasn't dirty,
didn't deserve what he got. This was this was not
defensible on any on anyway. I I failed to see
how the NBA it draws up one game conclusion on this.
I I don't. I don't. I don't understand. If if
I'm Steve Kerr and I'm the Warriors, I go, what
the hell man? Really? And now watch what happens this weekend.

(16:39):
Watch what happens the first time somewhere in garbage time
or when someone's coming off the bench. You watch what
could happen to somebody Because the NBA could have taken
care of this and they didn't. And now now you're
gonna watch that game all nervous, going to boy, what's
gonna happen the next time a guy goes out for
a breakaway duncan, he's up in the air. What's gonna happen? Uh,
it's it's it's tough, man, It's it's really tough. Well,
if it this really is the co ode and honor

(17:01):
and all of those words that we talked about from
a few good men, then nothing should happen, right. Isn't
that what we always say, Hey, it'll take care of itself.
So all of these guys are in the fraternity, shouldn't
they just say, hey, you know what, that was terrible.
We can't do anything like that. Let's love one another
and not contest in in that way? Is I mean?
If if we're to believe the you know, shock and

(17:24):
outrage as to how out of bounds this is, then
the players shouldn't be taking it upon themselves for anybody
to come even close to this. Twitter at how about
a fresca? Mike gets swollen? Done the Jason Smith with micr.
We'll continue to debate this. We have lots of NBA

(18:06):
You snotty little bit. I like, I like, I like
to answer the question, John, But coming up next, Yeah,
Tom Brady has been lying to us for twenty years.
We got the proof, big play, the play that launched
his career. That's next, right here, Jason and Mike, This
is Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,

Slash match limitations they do apply. I feel like I'm
drunk on the air talking about this Mets game. Oh oh,
I might I tell you I might have plenty of

(19:32):
folks that have been saying, too bad you have to
work tonight. I'm on my fifth margarita. Maybe I'm on
my third. Maybe it was what did when when they
met Eleanor's mom and um in the good place and
and uh, the husband says, Hey, I just checked my watch.
It's margot o'clock. I got a nice big bottle of

(19:52):
tequila that's wait for smash and so maybe it'll find
its way into a shot class before long. Now there
is Ian and Yang. As you know, looks with the
Mets scoring seven and the ninth and winning, you know,
there's an equal in opposite story that we have to
talk about. That. I mean that they they were losing
by by six, which meant that the pitching didn't show up. No,
I meant Tom Brady trolling everybody twenty years after the

(20:14):
play that made his legend. Yeah, you knew there was something.
It was okay, so the Mets that now we get
Tom Brady. Uh. Today, Brady decided to weigh in on
social media on the play that really began his legend
on his way to being the best quarterback in the
National Football League history. Remember this play, the tuck Rule
from two thousand and one, the Raiders and the Patriots

(20:37):
in the snow, and this is how it sounded. That's
what's the football. It's on the ground covered by the Raiders.
Is college teammate Charles Woodson on the blitz. Tom Brady
never sees him coming from the front side, forced out

(20:58):
by Charles Woodson. I don't think the recoil of the
thing throw is what made it come out of Tom
Brady's hand. The quarterbacks are what's going forward. It is

(21:19):
I hope, remember, I hope every year Tom Brady sent
sent Walt Coleman like money at the adjusty here, just
thank you, thank you, thank you. The tuck rule. He
was a Walt Coleman booster there. Right, that's very nice. Uh.
One of the most famous players in the NFL history.
Of course, the Patriots went on to win that game.

(21:40):
Minitary kicks a forty five yard field goal in the
snow kicks a field goal to win the game in overtime.
Patriots go on and when the Super Bowl Brady goes
on is run. One of the most one of the
worst officiated plays in NFL history. It was wrong in
the beginning. It was adjudicated wrong. It was not a fumble.
It was I was not in a complete pass. It
was completely a fumble. Now this has been baited now

(22:00):
for go decade again. The most famous play probably in
the last twenty some odd years, because we still talk
about it, right, Music City Miracle. That was a phenomenal play. Right,
Oh my god, what a great play. Yeah, alright, hey,
Robert Jones tackle on the one yard line to win
the Super Bowl. Boy, that was a great play. This
still has it's always it ruled right, was it wrong?

(22:21):
A bit brought a dynasty? Well it's near twenty years
it's almost over twenty years later, and Brady on social
media today was answering questions one of those, Hey, I'll
answer some questions if you have some stuff for me,
whether you're you're you know, you're free during the day,
you have nothing going on. I got twenty minutes. I'm
sitting around. People do this on Twitter all the time.
Any questions you got, I got some free time, asked

(22:42):
me on board. I got. I'm I'm done playing word mocha. Uh,
you know, and I'm done playing Subway Surfer. I got
some time here. So Brady gets a question on social
media about the tuck rule, and this is what he
said today. Tell me something on it game against the readers. Muh,

(23:06):
looks around, looks behind, and then whispers in. Might have
been a fumble. Yeah, but you're burying the lead. As
to whose question he was asking answering, I should say
it's bieber Man, it's Bieber tell me something, But it's
just the Twitter trend of tell me something truthful, yell

(23:27):
me something truthful. So there's Brady answering Bieber. Maybe it's
back hey, uh here, here's the truth. One. How talented
are you really? Justin Bieber? Are you really talented? Um?
It's kind of you. You know, it's kind of funny
because for us, Bieber is still a kid. But you
bring up Justin Bieber now, like to my daughter and
anybody who's like thirteen years like, oh, he's so old.

(23:48):
He's like it's like it's like he's seventy. You know,
it's like Bieber, he's just so old. We don't we
don't even talk about him anymore. You know. They all
talk about Olivia Rodrigo and they don't talk about that.
I know, it's too old. It's like you said her name,
Selena Gomez, like thirty two. I mean, they're not kids anymore. No,

(24:09):
they're too old. They're too old by car, they're too
old for these kids are too old right now. Now
they had just like adult stuff, like like like BTS
is about as old as you can get, all right,
BTS kind of are they gonna cycle guys out like
Minuto did all those years ago? Uh yeah, yeah, Minudo
and the Wiggles. You know, they're just gonna keep just

(24:31):
a different shing. I got enough money. I'm out yeah,
you want to, you you want to wear a red shirt,
you can. We're not talking about Steve, right with Steve
on Blues Clues, wouldn't it, Yeah, Steven Blues Clues. They
just put a new person in and he didn't answer
question because his hair was receding in all sorts of stuff.
So yeah, and he went away to quote college, Well,
I'm sure he did go to college, and so I

(24:51):
think he was like that point, but he was like
Rodney Degerfield going back to school said a triple Lindy
for everybody, tell you some guys a maniac. I'll tell
you like the Brady play. Now, I mean that that
there's the equivalent to a lot of the shovel passes
that completion. You know, here's the thing, right, and I

(25:13):
get there, here's Brady trolling everybody, and I'm glad, you know,
And part of me is I'm glad he's doing it
because this should put everything to bed that this was
not just a bad rule. It was not adjudicated properly,
right because for for the people who said, oh yeah,
that's the Tuck rule, they cite that. Now, maybe it's

(25:34):
more a bad rule than it was. You know, a
rule that that was adjudicated properly, right, Because the thing
is is that the tuck rule when it came out. Now,
the tuck rule is long gone from the NFL. It
was as long as the quarterback is in the process
of bringing the ball back to his body when he's hit,
it's an incomplete pass right now. That that's what they said.
So it's really just a bad rule. No, watch the

(25:56):
bleep in play and don't sit here and tell me
anything else other than that Brady throwing motion is gone. Okay,
his throwing motion is gone. He has brought the ball back.
He actually pats the ball with his left hand before
he is hit by woods Now it's bang bang where
he pats the ball his left hand. He's hit by Woodson.
That's a fumble. I don't understand how this dad. This
tuck which was basically a new rule. It happened earlier

(26:19):
the Patriots in the game against the Jets that year.
But this was not No, this was not a tuck rule.
This was not the tuck rule. This was he throwing.
His throwing motion was gone. He had he had tucked
the ball back in and he touched the ball with
his left hand. That's a fumble. I'm so, I don't
know in what world they looked at this and said, hey,
we really don't like the Raiders. I don't like the
way Greg Beakert ran off the field with the ball
after so we're gonna give this back to the Patriots.

(26:41):
It's not it was. It was a bad rule, yes,
but it also was not adjudicated properly because by the
letter of the law, that's a fumble and Brady knows it.
He knows it, he knows the ball. He he had
toocked the ball back and he touched the ball with
his left hand. His throwing motion is is hell and
gone from where it was at that point. So while
I'm glad twenty years it or I feel a little
bit of closure, I still get all riled up about

(27:03):
this because it was wrong. It happened. It was, it was,
It was a bad rule, They made a bad call,
and I had to go watch Pageots win eleven eleven
thousand Super Bowls afterwards. Over that was really the question.
He also got away, I mean with a blow to
the head. So there should have been a penalty on
Woodson anyway, because he hit him in the helmet instead
of actually Okay, okay, I'm just saying, if we're if
we're gonna play the let's go and do the review

(27:24):
of the play while we're at it. Why don't why
don't we do that? Uh? Look, I get it. You're
you're into your Marvel universe. Can You've been rewatching everything
ahead of Doctor Strange coming out this evening and into tomorrow,
And I know you're gonna go see it two or
three times this weekend and we'll discuss it on Monday.
Uh So you're trying to think of alternate timelines where

(27:45):
if this play didn't get called as such, maybe the
Jets would have won one or more games in some
of those seasons. Sorry, buddy, it's since it was a
ruling twenty years ago and people today got home again. Yes,
of course, of course, Like what just because he had
some fun needling people, all of a sudden his anger

(28:08):
and vitriol reimmersed, Like, oh my god, people, there's so
much else going on in the world and hopefully in
your own lives. It's two decades ago and most people
that have watched it have gone and in this case
again blow to the helmet, fifteen yards, first down. They've
got the ball anyway. I mean, how do you like

(28:32):
the way I extended that? And now you haven't heard
that one? Did you listen? You did extend it. And
I was just gonna go simple by going yeah. But
in the end, the met scored seven and the ninth
night ye showing the Recentcy game all this time, right now,
you're happy. He knows it was, the league knows it was.

(28:55):
Everybody knows it was a fumble. It's a brand new
rule that came out of Night T nine and then
was voted out of the NFL about a decade later,
mainly because they couldn't come up with a different rule
to get away from it, even though they knew it
was a bad rule. I mean, this is a ruling
that came up like maybe three or four times over
the course of like, you know, eight years, but it

(29:16):
happens to come up here and no, let's let's give
the ball back to the Patriots. Right. This is what
I don't get. And this is another part of the
tuck rule that that was why it was wrong, is
because you need what irrefutable evidence to overturn a play? Right,
you're telling me that's irrefutable evidence? Oh yeah, you know
he's still he's still trying to throw. No, he's not.
You can see he the throwing motion is done. Touch

(29:36):
the ball with his left hand. You're not throwing the
ball with two hands. You're not unless you're your shovel
passing it, run into the line of scrimmage' getting sacked
from behind. He's got two hands on the football. I'm sorry.
That's that. That that's done. I don't know how you
looked at that and said, yep, let's let's see it
unless you do that one of those uh thirty rock
switch pans where you cut to the replay booth and
it's a guy in a Steve Grogan jersey going, yep,
that's an incomplete pass. Get it back to the Patriots,

(29:59):
gonna be third down the thirty yard line. That's the
only way it happens. That's the only way that happens.
Everything about that was wrong. But the Mets did score
seven in the night. So I'm gonna end with I'm
gonna end, I'm gonna end. We're happy, right, You end
with with the uptick and the upbeat nature that is
sports talk radio already hearing from all our Raider fans

(30:19):
out there. That's wall and Da Matt, how about a fresca.
Let it out right, we gottavent, we gotta let that
frustration out. Let us be that vessel for you, uh,
chiming in with yes, it was a fumble. In the
end um as the rock would say, you know, what's
your name? And they start to say their names. It
doesn't matter what your name is. Likewise, at this point,

(30:40):
it doesn't matter whether it was a fumble or not
asked answered. Games have been played, decades have been played
since forever. I mean, that's why franko' harris walks out
for the immaculate reception before he goes into a monologue
about what he's doing, just like getting marin Narrow and
everybody's looking around, going how was it a catch? The

(31:01):
same thing? Was it catch? Upon hit the tip of
the ball hit the ground? What are you doing? Yeah? Well,
you know, at least we had replay of this, Like
you only get that one bit of the ball is
going so slow as it bounces that you see the
iso on Franco. I want to see like what it
looked like in really I haven't seen that in years,
Like what the bacular such must have looked like in
real time. You just get like it's happening so slow

(31:23):
right like the it's like a big switch of Bradshaw
throwing the ball and it bounces back and then Franco's
getting it so slow on the ground and running him
going how long does this play take to happen? How
does nobody tackle friend? He catches the ball like the
fifty yard line? How the hell does nobody tackle him
on the way to the end zone? What the hell?
But you know, you made one other point that I
would like to just h extend upon talking about rules

(31:46):
and changing things, Like, we have technology. They can implement
a lot of stuff to make their lives easier, and
they haven't. Okay, So if you want to use this
as one of the examples, sure have at it. I
can add a laundry list, and we can have a
top ten rankings of things that could easily be changed

(32:06):
by instituting UH and using the available technology. It's very simple. Hey,
everybody else wants to do top ten lists of whether
it guys a basketball Hall of Famer? Are you kidding me? Uh?
We we can use UH technology and stuff to extend
conversations in a smarter direction. Twitter At how about a Fresca.

Discovered dot Com Slash match limitations they do apply. Well,
I hate to say I told you so, Mike Carmen.
I hate to say, you know, it has been about

(33:32):
a week or so. I was starting I'd start to
believe you between them, what happened. What happened. But what
did we talk about when Jimmy Garoppolo still was a
forty niner? Wasn't getting traded even though he's injured the
shoulder surgery? Um, I said, dollar, what if? What just

(33:55):
for a second, what if the whole reason behind why
he still forty nine? Or is trade? Lance is just
not good? Right? We said, because there's no reason why
Jimmy Garoppolo should still be a forty Niner because at
this point, yes, a year ago, you could say we
want a first rounder for Jimmy Garoppolo. Train Lance isn't ready. Okay,
you can play that hardball now if you the Knight,

(34:17):
as of people would believe you. Um, but remember Adam
Schefter tweeted out a few months ago, Hey, Trey Lance
was more of a project than they than they initially
let on. Uh so, why is Garoppolo still a forty Niner?
Because you know at this point you're not going to
get a high pick for him, because Garoppolo kind of
is what he is. He's a bridge quarterback, but he's
a serviceable starter and he can have big games once

(34:38):
in a while. He does have values, have more value
than Baker Mayfield around the NFL. Why is still a
forty Niner? Oh but the surgery, n He's gonna come back.
Everything seems pretty good. He would Teams are still gonna
make a move for him for this year next year
because Garoppolo is someone right, He's gonna play for us
a little bit. Let's see what we get. Teams like
Pittsburgh teams need a quarterback. They would have been in

(35:00):
on Jimmy Garoppolo. But now how much does it look like?
Maybe the Niners were just holding them hostage because they
didn't want to let him go because tray Lance just
isn't good. This story from Matt Lombardo, NFL insider, who
put out that he's heard the Niners staff has been
continually underwhelmed by tray Lance. This makes everything with Jimmy

(35:21):
Garoppolo makes sense because everything else you didn't know. They
still could have traded him. They still could trade him
for a fifth round pick thing get out from his money.
They could have been able to spread more money around
and free agent and give more money to Deebo Samuel. Hey,
we got this money for you. Now we're not paying
Jimmy twenty million dollars for next year. We're good. We're good,
We're good. You could have still done that. Yeah, you're
only getting back a fourth round pick or a third
round pick, who knows. But you're still moving on right,

(35:44):
And you're given the job to trade Lance because you
drafted him number three overall for a reason. Why why
why nothing really made sense. Now you'd see this report
and suddenly everything slots in. This is why Garoppolo is
still a forty niner. This is why John Lynch said,
oh he may be a forty niner this year. It's like,
what you Trey Lance? Now you know that maybe they
bift it on the number three overall pick, and they're

(36:05):
just trying to hide it. They're just trying to keep town.
We don't want to let it out. We want to
try to make it seem like, oh, we're letting Tray
Lance go at his own rate, and Jimmy, we love
him so much. Oh we're no, no, no, Now you
get the story. Mike Harmon, Yeah, heavy investment, uh in
bringing Trey Lance in. But again, dollar cost averaging is
what I've argued all along. You're not paying Tray Lance

(36:27):
a ton of money. Jimmy Garoppolo's contract is not uh prohibitive. Uh.
Some rumors that Deebo Samuel was starting to reincorporate San
Francisco forty Niner stuff back into his social media. Uh
so you got that working out there. Obviously, John Lynch
and everybody talked up and did the cell job on
Lance here in the last couple of weeks. But yeah,

(36:49):
the reality is, if you're not gonna get what you
think you need for Jimmy Garlo Garoppolo coming off the injury,
why wouldn't you just slow your role and wait and
see what develops. And Trey Lance no was you know,
he's got the full reins until Garoppolo is ready to throw,
which ain't gonna be until July. Anyway, I'll tell you
we got more on this coming up. In addition to

(37:10):
big off night thoughts on the NBA, Fox
