(00:22):
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio. Greetings,
Welcome inside, Happy Monday and the Jason Smith Show with
my bas friend Mike Harman. Hobo, no NBA this weekend.
Everybody's turning on TV's going but I got okay? And
is there hockey? Not okay? When's the next game? Well,

(00:45):
finally we got it. We're about two minutes before halftime
right now, and Golden State and a half that Boston's
gonna look at this at halftime and go, what the
hell are we doing? The Warriors lead at forty three
to thirty five. This has not been a good first
half of the Warriors, Clay and staff both having difficulture.
Andrew Wiggins fourteen, Gary Payton was seven off the bench,

(01:08):
but It's not like the Warriors have played well. They
have played badly, and the Celtics started over twelve from
three point range. They finally hit a couple, but it
doesn't matter hit three in a row. Yeah, but okay,
so now the lead is eight instead of ten. Boston
has had so many opportunities. This first half of the
game was there for the taking for them, and this

(01:30):
is where the Warriors were struggling a little bit. I
think the Warriors expected to come out and just beat
the crap out of out of the Celtics and and
put big numbers on the board early and be playing well.
And the fact that they're playing that they're winning the
game by eight, despite the fact they're not really playing
it well, it's just Boston is playing worse. Who It
is a bad first half for Boston, but you know

(01:51):
they make up for it with the third quarter coming up,
where they're generally fantastic. So hell yeah, luck Yeah, it's
just around the corner. Well, we'll see how that potential
debak was there for a long time. Draymond Green the
leading score for your Golden State Warriors. I heard a
lot of the big takes where he's gonna have a
triple double and he's gonna inspire. It's like, okay, if

(02:11):
I if you see it, that'd be great. It would
be great to see Draymond Green do that. Right now,
he's sitting at eight points, four rebounds, three assists. That
would be fantastic. What in God's name from the first
four games gave you any indication that that reformance was
gonna be there? And again he might get there, who knows,
but right now the Warriors equally craptastic to steal your

(02:35):
term three or fifteen from three point range. Look, the
first quarter started out exactly like Game one. Here, here's
the lane, go in driving for I got nothing for you.
And then they started to contest it, and there's been
a couple of you know, body falls and you can
argue a little bit. You saw a dooka get out
of the coach's box and get a technical. I don't

(02:56):
know that he said any of the magic words. You
can see the rest kind of just where he was standing.
I'm like, we're doing that's like a youth sports, uh
technical that gets called. Coach. I'm not gonna say you again.
You gotta stay behind the line. Coach, gonna stay behind
the left foot. I'm really I'm really getting teed up
because I was standing over the line because that looks
like that's exactly what it what it was that Udoka

(03:18):
was over that He's looking at here, Am I okay
to stand here? I'm okay here? Am I okay? Am
I okay? Am I okay here? Am I okay here?
Oh wow? That was that was really embarrassing. Yeah, it
didn't quite mock him but close. But Jayson Tatum five
of eight from the field, so that that's at least
a good sign. Yeah, but the thing is, look, I'm
trying to find right now. I'm hearing you, but I
just don't want to be radio guy that comes on

(03:40):
it says this all. Well, Tatum doesn't hit his first shot,
to take his first shot until what seven minutes into
the game. I mean, yeah, I was chanting in my car,
be aggressive, be aggressive, like where are you? Well, I
don't think anybody was listening to you, buddy, I really
don't know. The guy in the car next to me
thought it was funny. He had no idea the context

(04:01):
of my screaming. But you can just see kint of
the look over like you okay over there, yeah, this
is gonna go down as a first half where the
Celtics went a halftime and go, oh, we we just
biff this. We completely But we're giving this game to
the Warriors who are playing a c game right now,
and the Celtics should be able to be closer than
this when when look when Wiggins and Draymond are the guys,

(04:22):
I mean, come on, man, it's like, it's not It's
not even if it was Stephan Clay and stuff is
out and He's got sixteen and Clay's got twelve. Okay,
this is what we expected in game five. We're gonna
put it away and come back in game six. Now,
this game is there for them. This game is there
for Boston, which I think surprise a lot of people,
surprise me the way it was there. But they're just
I mean, it's it's it's like, it's not who wants

(04:42):
it least, it's it's the you know, the the Warriors
want it, and the Celtics are kind of, yeah, if
you want it, okay. I mean, there there's no grabbing
the team by the scruff of the neck and saying hey,
I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure I have a big
half here to keep us close in this game. I mean,
this is gonna be a ten point game in a
second after the Warriors finish shooting free throws. And this

(05:02):
just should be where Boston is at least in a
tie game, if not leading. When when you when you
have a first half, you say, how does Stephan Clay do?
They have ten points total, They are four for thirteen
from the floor, They are struggling, they have one three
point between them. I'm sorry, you gotta be winning this game.
You gotta be winning this game, and winning winning this
game by a decent margin. And they're not. And that
is an awful, awful thing for the Celtics because you know,

(05:25):
you know, eventually in the second half, at some point,
Curry's gonna heat up, all right, He's not gonna have
a game where boy, Steph Curry has eleven point No, no, no,
that's not doesn't happen with stuff. You know, He's gonna
wind up with at least twenty five, So you know
what's coming in the second half. I mean, this is
just a huge missed opportunity for the Celtics in the
first half. Yeah, and I just I just go back
to those first six minutes again that where it looked
quite game one of all right, you're tied to two

(05:49):
game five, right, as we go statistically, right, in this
age of advanced metrics and even just simple math, what
is of winners of game five go on to win
a series and you come out with a defensive effort
when you're known for defense, you're the number one defense
in the NBA. And there's the parting of the Red Sea.
There you go, I'm going biblical. That's how bad it was. Right,

(06:12):
Even your rim protector Williams is out of position and
he's not there to even try to contest. So a
bunch of easy buckets early, and instead of trying to
establish the interior, you're continuing to chuck three point shots, right,
because they're not hitting as as we Chronicle Warriors three

(06:32):
of fifteen right now from three point range, we come
up under two minutes here, uh in the second quarter, like,
so they're not shooting very well. So why would you
not change your offensive sets to try to make the
extra pass, get into the lane and create opportunities and
create potential for foul trouble, right, if you're just gonna
keep settling for jump shots, it's gonna make the game
a lot tighter and more problematic in the second half. Man,

(06:55):
beyond embarrassing for the Celtics to be down nine when
Steph and Clay are just guys tonight, They're just guys
Twitter at how about a Fresca Mike hat swollen dome.
If you're a value customer, you deserve a simple gesture
of appreciation from your credit card company. And that's why
I discovered matches all the cash back. You're in the
end of your first year. Discover exceptionally common sense. Learn

(07:15):
more at discovered dot com. Slash match limitations they do apply.
Put out a tweet that says that Steph Curry's a
jag parenthes is put right now. There's nobody's gonna read
the right now. He's just a guy. He's just a guy.
Oh man, I love everybody on on Twitter calling up
Steph Hayters, where are you? It's like, what are you
talking about? Anyway, We'll have more on this game coming

(07:37):
up throughout there. There's been a lot of that, But
you know, you also have a bunch of guys that well,
let's let's just say there's certain players they don't criticize
anymore based on hashtag new media. Uh so again nine
pointly or now eleven point lead for Golden State in
the final minute of the first half. More on this
game coming up, but in a few minutes, we've got
Jason Lacking Forest stopping by NFL inside and big headline

(08:01):
today in the NFL, I got a Big Bowl prediction
coming your way. Lamar Jackson is back with the Ravens
for the first time this offseason. Nothing regarding Lamar Jackson
has made sense right. The Ravens want to give him
a lot of money. He doesn't want it. He doesn't
have an agent, so he doesn't have someone who can
fight those battles for him. He seems to be happy

(08:22):
with playing out two and hitting it even bigger than
he hopefully would now in a year. Maybe that means
staying with with Baltimore. Maybe that means moving on. But
nothing makes sense with the Ravens, and it doesn't make
sense that he would turn down the security of a
big contract extension coming off a bad year like he

(08:43):
did a year ago. And it's not like the Ravens
have made it better for him this offseason with Hey,
we brought in three new wide receivers. Not at We
got rid of the guy you like the most. How
about that? All right, you're happy with that, so let
me do this to be fair. They didn't come to
camp with a lot fewer healthy bodies. You want to
talk about a team that normally he say, Hey, injuries
even out situations, even out the ledger was so much

(09:05):
against the Ravens before the first preseason game. There was
no There was no Lady Justice and the scales finding
any kind of balance. Yeah, they will always be injured.
Do you have any running always bepe Hey, it's left
Bell able to walk from Trader's room to the field.
We'll call Davante Freeman. Alright, we'll just get whoever else,
whoever is still still can walk. That's thirty five or under.

(09:28):
We're gonna go get that. I'm surprised Frank Gordon didn't
end up playing year. Hey, this year's not over yet.
He needs fifteen yards to get to yards. Think I'll
go over fifty. I'll come out for I'll play a
couple of weeks to be fifteen. Give me six or
seven carries. I can get you this fifteen yards. But
I'll give you a bold prediction for Lamar Jackson. Because

(09:49):
we talk about athletes betting on themselves, right, Why did
I tell you Aaron Judge was gonna win m v
P in the American League before the season, which, yeah,
And now who's gonna win m v P Aaron Judge.
Aaron Judge is winning the m v P. Right, It's
gonna hit sixty five home runs and he's gonna get
five hundred million dollars from the Yankees. Right he decided
to is shoe a seven year, two hundred million dollar contract. Right,

(10:11):
This is a guy, Aaron Judge, as good as he's been.
The guy has made thirty million dollars in his seven
year career. Right now he's finally gonna hit it big, right, finally,
here's seven years, two hundred million dollars. And Aaron Judge
says no. So you're like, WHOA When a guy that
talented is okay with betting on himself, you know something
big is gonna happen. I know when a star is

(10:32):
betting on himself that much. Aaron Judge is not going
to committed this year unless he knows I'm gonna have
year X and this is where I'm gonna go get
paid and I'm gonna stead of getting two hundred and
thirteen million, I'm gonna get close to four hundred million, Right,
That's what I'm gonna get. I'm gonna get some kind
of money for the next four or five years. Is
gonna dwarf the two million dollars I can get right now,
you're talking seven two hundred thirteen by the end of

(10:53):
this year, it's gonna be. It's gonna be seven years
and three seventy five million. This is Lamar Jackson is doing.
This is what Lamar Jackson is doing right now. It
doesn't make sense. Why in the NFL, especially when your
next down is not guaranteed, would you be okay with
playing out of season they want to give you money,

(11:14):
I don't want it. You have an agent, Nope, don't
have an agent. Okay. He is extremely gambling on himself
for this fall without great weapons, and I'm gonna come
in and I'm gonna have this kind of year where
you watch the contract that I'm gonna get next year
compared to what the Ravens want to give me now,
or maybe I want to go someplace else and get it.
So what this tells me is Lamar Jackson is gonna

(11:35):
have another m v P type season this year because
he is betting on himself even more than Aaron Judge,
because he's got more at stake. You get hurt. Where's
that money gonna go? Aaron Judge gets there? Okay, Hey,
I got two hundred million. They'll give me two hundred
million in the off season. Right, I'm still gonna get that.
Lamar Jackson is not gonna get it. So if he
if a guy who's a star player like this is
doing that, yeah, I'll tell you Lamar Jackson, he knows

(11:58):
he's gonna have another mvy P type season this year
for the Raves. Yeah. I think I'm just banking on
the fact that everything that came against them last year,
Lightning won't strike twice. Right, the number of injuries on
the old line, Guys who were banking on couldn't make
it back, Like Ronnie Stanley. You you banked on him
to be your anchor, and you didn't do a lot
in building your offensive line to make sure to cover

(12:22):
for it didn't work. Back didn't hold up. You had problems.
So you've readjusted and you've reconfigured your your front five.
You look at the running back situation. Guys coming back
in right J K. Dobbins who didn't play last year,
so you're waiting on him. Gus the bus was out,
like Davis is still there. He's serviceable as the three.
But if those two guys are healthy and Lamar still

(12:45):
moving latterly as he does, you still have one of
the best tight ends in the game. In between the
twenties and in the red zone, you reconfigured your wide
receiving corps. And yes, I know that Marquis Hollywood Brown
isn't there. You know what he was. He's a speed guy.
So in theory, now you've got guys that actually run
routes serious Like, I think I'm more bullish with Bateman

(13:08):
rising up to a bigger role as you go alongside
duvern A and and the other guys they brought in.
So I was already polish, just based on the law
of averages. Everything can't go wrong again to the squad.
And I think Lamar Jackson is a better passer that
he gets credit for. I think he's a better player
overall than he gets credit for, and he still gets
tagged with that. He's a guy that runs and occasionally

(13:30):
makes a pass. Guy's a former m v P. He's
betting on himself. It's a big risk. He is plus
twenty two hundred to win. There are ten quarterbacks with
better odds, and Lamar Jackson to win NFL. And I'm
telling you what. I'm going to Vegas in a couple
of weeks. Maybe that'll be the fun show. But I'm
like your own personal crypto. I give you stuff and

(13:52):
I make predictions and go how much money could you
have made if you're the guy my urban Meyer prediction.
But but here's the thing that, well, but you you
crashed it burn because you thought they were going to
the super you no, no, no, but but that right now,
a lot of crypto is and markets are if you
do have like three bucks, you can buy all those
tokens that you didn't get into. Fungible or non fungible?
Are they fungible non fungible? Not? There's still fungible means

(14:14):
you can eat them. Non fungible. No, I mean we're
still talking about cryptocurrency. Okay, we're not talking about f
t s talking to cryptocurrency. They're so deflated at this
point that hey, you know what if you do still
have that extra dollar to spend. You're getting quote value. Now.

Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

(14:37):
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. So there it is. Game five of the
NBA Finals is in the books. And to think about
this for a second, Steph Curry shoots seven for twenty
two tonight, oh for nine from three point range. He
has sixteen points. He has a bad night, and the

(14:59):
cell Takes get beat by ten. This is so over
the top embarrassing for Boston. I can't even tell you.
I mean, this is the Steph Curry sucks game, right,
this is the Steph Curry, Steph Curry sucks game. And
you couldn't win this game. This is why Steph can't
be in the m BAN. I'll tell you, hey, I'll

(15:20):
tell you what. Andrew Wiggins that's gonna be Cliff Wiggins
has another big game and can you imagine but the
voters of now, come on, the voters are gonna go.
I've already voted for Steff. I'm sorry if I put
in the vote after Game four, I'm sorry that sense
I really I would like to Curry favor with Steph
Curry than Curry favor with Andrew Wiggins. So I'm sorry,
but you could make it. You can make an argument that, hey,

(15:41):
Steph and Andrew Wiggins because the last couple of games, UH,
Wiggins has been really really good and he was their
best player tonight in Game five, which is always the
most pivotal game in the series because you're moving in
one game away from winning the championship. UH twenty six
for Wiggins to go along with thirteen rebounds, had a
couple of as sissy, had a couple of steals. Last

(16:01):
couple of games, he has had double doubles. He has
been really really good, and he is overcoming eight years
of people saying Andrew Wiggins stinks. Andrew Wiggins is overrated.
Now he's laughing, everybody going, dude, He's gotten a really
good team and not be the player that everybody made
be the franchise guy. And but but that speaks to

(16:23):
the much larger point of how a guy and where
you're drafted. Baker Mayfield can relate to this to some degree.
If you're drafted number one overall or number two overall,
the expectations go over the over the top. Hell, he
go go down to the third slot in the NBA.
Look at the career Christian late in her head. Was
it a monster career? No, but same franchise Minnesota played

(16:47):
pretty well, had himself a nice NBA career, but he
never was the superstar outside of being part of the
dream team. For Andrew Wiggins, you're talking about a guy
who goes to this franchise and maybe, yeah, you're not
that number one guy to carry people along, but you've
always been a good player. And then it becomes the
the question of all right, what's empty stats, blah blah blah.

(17:10):
But in this case they needed every bit of it.
They had fifty points in the paint today. He was
terrible from beyond the arc, just like everybody else. Just
like everybody else, Steph Curry, all those streaks ended like
you could. We just saw graphic after graphic. You know,
it was like a pop up video gone awry thirty
two here, hundred thirty two. There, all these different metrics

(17:33):
that you wanted to get to. For Andrew Wiggins, yeah,
he couldn't shoot beyond the arc, but you know what,
once he got inside the paint, that was it. And
he dominated and he comes up with another huge effort
here and right now in the Bay Area. They're really
glad uh for him to decide, Hey, I'll be the
fifth guy, the fourth guy, whatever the case. Maybe by
way of Cleveland. That's pretty nice. Be sure to catch

(18:35):
you know, we've had some fun debating the course of
the NBA Finals. Now here are the Warriors one win away? Uh?
Steph Curry was fantastic through the first four games of
the series. Has a bad game tonight Right now you
cut it up, It's a bad game tonight, seven out
of two, oh for nine from three. Uh. The big
night was from Andrew Wiggins to his second big night

(18:56):
in row, big double double. Right now, you've got Game
six Clay coming up. Supposedly, if I will say this,
even though it's fun to talk about, to just think
what it would be like and to think how everybody's
heads would explode like it was an episode of Scanners. Uh,
let's go or an episode of Supernatural. Uh. Just even
if let's just say Steph is bad again and Clay

(19:18):
has an amazing Game six. Right, Let's say Clay goes
for thirty three and they win, or Wiggins has another
twenty four points, whatever it is. I don't think there's
any way Steph Curry isn't voted the m v pay
as much as I'd like to see people have an
open mind with this. And obviously Ryan Hollins will forget

(19:42):
a lot more basketball in the next twelve hours than
I'll have ever load right playing in the NBA Star
of Uncut Gems. I mean all of that stuff that
he's done in his career, that talking about the double team,
triple team, etcetera. Uh, and the face guarding and every
thing else that it's gonna come down to those kind

(20:03):
of sequences and details to justify voting for Steph Curry,
even if you do have someone else in a close
out game come over the top, because he was awful
from it office like, he still took the shots, right,
we can talk about double teams, we can talk about
the extra bump and physicality and whatever else. He's still

(20:23):
did not put up a big offensive game. Still plus
fifteen for the night. So those that like to lean
on that stat category a lot, they can forget the
rest of his box scoring, point to that right and say, hey,
you know what, he still had this number of rebounds. Right,
he was still for the night sixteen points, eight assists,

(20:44):
three boards and plus fifteen. Because you'll say, hey, look
at that. That for a lot of folks, that's pretty
good night. Well, you're expecting him to be Steph Curry,
whereas tonight he was not the offensive wizard that you've seen. Uh,
And instead it was more or Andrew Wiggins and guys
from the bench. Unfortunately, the guys from the bench probably
cancel out Andrew Wiggins a little bit in terms of

(21:06):
trying to make that argument too loud. If it was
a case of there was no storyline coming in, it was,
and it was a free for all for who's gonna
win NBA Finals m v P. I would say maybe
it could be different, like if it was the Celtics,
if things were reversed right, Let's say the Celtics up
three to Yeah, Jayson Tatum would be the favorite going in.
But other guys on the Celtics who win the m

(21:27):
v P. If they had a big series, if Marcus
Smart was big, he could have wanted Jalen Brown as
big could have won it. But with the Warriors, the
only story going in was boy and if they win,
when they win, Steph's gonna win the m v P.
It's like, oh, we gotta play this series now. It
doesn't matter every well or the he has to because
if he doesn't dot dot dot right right. So you've
got those two paths of some folks want the validation

(21:51):
point of all right, look at he got that m VP,
checking out the box, Look how great he is. Whatever's
and the ring has almost become secondary in a lot
of the v finals actually winning of the title, and
just go back to the basics. And you're gonna see,
you're gonna see. I'll tell you this, I'll give you,
I'll get I'll get my big crystal ball out. I'm
telling you tomorrow on the Big TV debate shows, Steph

(22:14):
Curry can't be a top ten all time player if
he doesn't win at least one NBA Finals m v P.
That's gonna be your story, bunch of that's gonna be
your story. Like, but he's gotta do it. He's got
trust me. That's gonna be your hot take tomorrow. And
you know, I like sometimes I like tweeting it out
and then sometimes if it doesn't happen, I know, because
you couldn't steal it because I actually tweeted up. Yeah. No,

(22:35):
that one, I think is already kind of started to
circle because everybody wanted their big, big Steph Curry. But
topic before we got it started that, you know, the
voters and people covered the you know, Rick Buker told
us the desire that people have to bestow awards on
players they cover for access or for whatever reason they
want to do that. And yea, so the desire to

(22:57):
give Steph Curry the m v P is already there,
but this is over the top. We got to give
it to him because look at what he's done throughout
his career. He doesn't have it. We gotta give it
to him because it's missing for him, so we gotta
make sure we do it. It's like, let's wait and see, Well,
what the hell kind of access you need? Doesn't matter.
Maybe it's an extra sit down, maybe an extra set

(23:19):
of cookware designs. I don't know. Maybe Steph will tell
Draymond to do my podcast. Whatever it is. Is really
the desire that the media has had for this to
be a storyline is over the top. All Steph Curry
has had to do is not throw up on himself.
And and granted he's gone completely opposite, he has been
phenomenal again up until tonight, he was fantastic. So it's

(23:40):
really the first four games. These last two games aren't
going to matter. Steph Curry could go scoreless on Thursday
and and after the game, Steve Kerr would say, well,
you know, he used up a lot of energy blah blah,
and still he could wind up winning the m v P.
Because that desire to give it to because well he's
missing it. Why because he's a great player? Okay, why

(24:01):
do we really want to get We don't really want
to give awards to anybody. We really want to go.
This is why every single player in the NBA would
love to have stuff Courrier's reputation, because the guy could
do no wrong. He gets whatever he needs get. Let's
give it to a bunch of paragraphs tomorrow about what
a great decoy he was on some sequences. Oh yeah,
and now the command of the double team just leads

(24:21):
to forget again about the fact that he took as
many shots as he did because he was over nine
from three point range before he sat down. Be sure

the fan in Baltimore, j what's happening, man? What's going on? Gentlemen?
What's up? Well? Did did they raise a banner in
Baltimore today? Because Lamar showed up for the first time?
So did you put a banner up the Lamartine you
know shows up now? No, they if they ever get

(25:04):
this contract one, maybe they should put a banner up
for that. Um, Look, this young man has been sort
of as buoyant, as enthusiastic, as effervescent, as joyous about
the game of football and about being a Baltimore Raven
as anyone could have ever hoped for any player to be.

(25:29):
But that kind of ran its course this year. And
I'm not a I'm not a no t A guy like,
I don't care. I think it's almost as farcical, um
and and almost as much of a like sort of
Ponzi scheme or something to get fans, you know, caught
up in as the salary cap or the combine or

(25:52):
I mean, there's a lot of things that go on
the schedule release show, right, there's a lot of things
that that football um tent consumers have been trained to
believe matter that don't And him not taking part in
O t A s as a like actual football matter

(26:12):
don't matter because they're fake practices. And the Ravens last
week decided to take everybody to David Busters, right instead
of having the last O T A. And how many
times do teams go see a movie or go bowling
or I don't know, play freaking croquet or whatever, Right,
some team bonding exercise for the last couple of days
of O T A s that they deemed more important

(26:33):
than the fake football they're going to play. But what
does matter, what does resonate, what what is in fact meaningful,
is that for the first time in his five year career,
he wasn't the kid who was hanging out in the building,
you know, when he didn't have to be there. He
wasn't the sponge. He wasn't the sort of beacon and

(26:58):
face of all things positive about Ravens football. He was
doing his own thing in Florida, as he damn well
should be. Um, considering the Baltimore Ravens see to be
perfectly fine with him making twenty three million this year
playing out his entire rookie contract, being only the fifteenth
highest paid quarterback in the NFL in terms of two compensation.

(27:19):
And let's remember, he's made no damn money up till now.
This isn't like he did a big deal two years
ago and now they're restructuring. He's never made a penny
outside of what the cb A prescribed him to make
as the thirty second pick. You know, back in in
he hasn't said boo about it. But but don't kid yourself.
He wasn't around here all of May and most of

(27:41):
June for a reason, which is it's bs that he's
the fifteenth highest paid quarterback in the NFL, barely making
more than guys like Baker Mayfield and Sam Donald and
making less than guys like Jimmy Garoppolo, Carson Wentz, Jared Golf,

(28:02):
Kirk Cousins. I could go on. Well, here's the thing, Jane.
This is where I see the real sunny side of
the street for him this year. Usually when stars like
him say I'm okay betting on myself that I want
to he knows something right, he knows it doesn't matter
if the receivers doesn't matter, and I expect him to
have an m v P type season because guys don't

(28:23):
do this and don't turn money down when people want
to pay them unless they really know something. Some way
to get you caught up in that the idea that
he's turned money down, like I mean, I reported at
the Combine and I continue to hear this that the
Ravens were offering around thirty five million a year at
the same time that Josh Allen got forty three and
while they may have come up a little bit from there,

(28:44):
they've never come up in any sort of meaningful way
that would get his attention. Or let's not play the
whole agent no agent game, whether even if he had
an agent, they've never put anything meaningful enough on the
table for even a qualified agent to really sort of
counter like. And if he is willing to say, well, damn,

(29:06):
I played these four years for like, you know, twenty million,
So twenty three million for one year sounds pretty good
to me, and it gets me one year closer to
potential free agency, and it puts them on the clock
about having to tag me. So yeah, if they want
to play this game, and their owner wants to, you know,
pop his head out from underground for the first time

(29:27):
in four years and opine about me, maybe thinking I'm
not worthy of all of his money until I win
a Super Bowl, then let me just do this for
twenty three If you want to put that tag on me,
that's fine. I'll keep playing by your rules. But now
we know you're one year away from either giving me
all the money in the world or trading me to
somebody who will give me all the money in the world.

(29:49):
Jason Lock and Vora with us here the Jason spent
shall with Mike arm in longtime NFL Inside, or find
him on Twitter at Jason Lock and Fura. All right,
let's go down to South Beach Tyreek Hill doing some
ch up in his agent doing a little bit of chirping.
I think he may have heard his shoulder patting himself
on the back for his own greatness, but in him
on the back three times harder than him. No, that's

(30:11):
what I mean. His back could be soft as charman
after cruis done with him. So giant contract leaves Kansas City,
and in doing so, I know you want to hype
the new guy, but saying that toa is more accurate
than Patrick Mahomes and more or less intimating, while also
bringing up specific plays about the accuracy of Patrick Mahomes.

(30:34):
I know you want to get get right with the
new guy, but uh what what what's the endgame here?
I don't know. It's so he already got the money,
he already won. Um, it was amicable enough in real time,
or at least it appeared to be so. And again
it's it's never as hunky dory as everybody would would
make us think. I'm sure there was a part of

(30:55):
tar Re kills Um mindset that thought, I'll get another
long term extension here. We'll go to three, four or
five more championship games, a few more Super Bowls, you know,
and and I'll um go down as perhaps the greatest
receiver in Kansas City Chiefs history. So I don't think

(31:17):
that the fact that they were, it's kind of funny, right,
Like it's like, be careful what you wish for. The
grass is always greener. And oh my god, so you
guys don't want to give me what I think I'm worth.
And all these other dudes are getting paid, right, and
look what Jacksonville just did, and look look at all
these crazy contracts. So give me what I want or else.

(31:37):
And and then you do go to Miami and and look,
I don't think Too, I'm somewhat of a tour defender.
I don't think Too has gotten a fair shake yet.
But then but in his heart, he's got to know
this ain't that Um. And they honestly, they put so
many track guys down there that he's not the only
speed guy. And it's it's kind of about the running

(31:58):
backs and the outside zone stuff from this stretch plays
and then you know, throwing it seven to fifteen yards
downfield and seeing we keep doing yak. So that's not
as sexy as the system that he was in before.
So I think there's a part of him that wants
to have his cake and eat it too, or sort of, um,
you know, have this sort of re really sort of

(32:20):
we're going to take reality and kind of whitewash it
in a way that that makes it look like I
got the better quarterback and I got the better contract
and all of this. But you can't tell me there
isn't a part of him that was a little bit
hurt by the fact that the Chiefs were like, Okay,
that's fine, you know, like that that's your that's your
price point. Will make that happen, brother, Like, well, we'll
we'll get you out of here real fast and you'll

(32:42):
get your money and we'll move on. Jay Tomorrow is
a big day the commanders and and Jack del riore
going to meet with the team and talk about all
the the drama for the past few days. He deleted
his Twitter account over the weekend because of the blowback
from his comment about January six, Are we really the tiles? Right?
Is he going to be okay in Washington or is

(33:03):
this something that we got to keep watching out for. No,
I think it's something that bears monitoring. Um. First of all,
he hasn't exactly connected with his charges in a way
that has been um uh where you've got people championing
him left and right, at you know, at all three
levels of that defense that just that just hasn't been

(33:24):
the case. And frankly, over the course of the last
few years, all three levels of those defense have been
exposed and have looked like a problem at various points
in time, and his job security within that building had
been in question for purely football reasons at various points
in time where you may have talked to someone in
that building and they weren't entirely positive that Jack del Rio,

(33:47):
you know, come Tuesday morning or Wednesday when they returned
to practice on Wednesday after a particularly horrific performance over
the weekend, that he was necessarily guaranteed to be back. So, um,
I think it certainly bears monitoring. Now they're also empty
and their rudderless ship. So you know, as Tanya Snyder

(34:11):
gonna sit down with Ron Rivera and say, hey, I
think you need to whack this guy, and we've got
five weeks between now on the starting training camp to
find somebody else from the outside or promote from within
or whatever. No, I don't think that's where she is.
And Dan Snyder is worried about being, you know, dragged
down to Capitol Hill and having people ask a whole

(34:33):
lot of program questions about how he runs his organization.
So you know that timing probably works pretty good for
Jack del Rio and that the owner's got maybe some
bigger fish to fry. And Ron Rivera is already kind
of he's played his hand right, He's finding a hundred
thousand dollars and he put out a statement, so it's
left to his own devices. I'm not sure he's going

(34:54):
to do anything more severe than that. And you know,
unless they're there, you know, unless some of these players
are going to say things publicly that they've whispered the
people close to them privately, which is we're not sure
that this guy, you know, is necessarily very good at
his job, and we're not sure he really respects us
as human beings or understands what matters to us. He's

(35:19):
on Twitter at Jason Locke and for that is at
Jason Locke and for a long time NFL Insider Odyssey
one oh five seven, the fan in Baltimore, j has
always Buddy appreciate it, Matt. We'll talk to you next week.
I find always my pleasure gentlemen. Thank you,
