(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
the Jason Smith Show with my big friend Mike Harmon.
Happy Thursday. You know, I I gotta tell you one thing,
Mike aus as we start here, I mean all seriousness.

(00:44):
You've been crowning, we have, we have Well, iould say
something here, you know, because I don't like to say
this that much. But you know, once in a while,
it merits it. It merits being said. It's because I
feel weird about saying it's sometimes because it's it's just
not who I am. You know, it's very weird. But

(01:04):
you know, when something happens, you know, we react, were
read and react business here and radio. You know. Um
I I just wanted to, uh, you know again, remind everybody,
you know, a certain very big thing before the season started.
I told you Aaron Judge was going to be the
A l m v P. And I don't say that
that often. I don't you know. I don't want to
sit here and say, oh, I said it all the time,

(01:26):
But once in a great while you've been you've had
a tattooed on your guys say that. Yeah, I just
want to make sure you know we said Aaron Judge
was gonna be your A l m v P. Yeah,
I mean, I got my guy. Your done. Unfortunately, he's
is great a year as he's having and and and
ain't judging buddy, I mean thirty nine home runs now
for Eron Judge, game winning walk off monster, prodigious blast

(01:50):
in the win over the Royals. Uh, that thing hasn't
landed yet. Just insanity, his third walk off of the year,
and right now, just the celebration, celebration of at least
one guy's hitting in our steak in line up. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
the Benintendi effect. They scored a run, they got him,
put him in the lineup right away. Oh for four. Yeah,

(02:12):
we got that win. Uh. Now we're gonna play the
game winning call of Aaron Judges walk off home run
in the ninth that it's the beauty of the game
actually being over because it's nice, right assinine major League
Baseball rules. Yeah, but forget about yeah, but forget about
allowing us to promote your your product while it's in
action of at all the highlights, look at all the

(02:32):
great day. You gotta wait till it's over. It's getaway day.
Come on, it's getaway I'm gonna ask you. And now
I know you haven't heard it yet. Does John Sterling
give a terminator to judgment day line? In his calling
of the home run? Do we get a judgment day
home run? Because this was this was a big game win,

(02:53):
getting the walk off? Yeah, they only had two hits. Yeah,
well when all that matters, whenever judges, it's home run.
That's all you need. I gotta say, though, if you're singer,
how pissed are you? I mean, you're you're basically Jacob
degromin it right because he goes seven innings, one hit,

(03:14):
one walk, ten strikeouts. They can't do a damn thing
for him. No, No, it too bad, too bad? Because
now so I bet so do we get a judge
the dame reference? And now we get one? All right,
let's hear it. Then we go to deep left center.
It is high. That was far god walk off home

(03:35):
run to win the game a judge and blast oh
one out, bottom of the nine home run by judge
to win the ball game one nothing. I swear I
will not kill anyone. Uh, John Sterling on the call
Yankees Raider Network. We didn't get a terminated to judge

(03:56):
with it. We gotta you know. And here's the thing.
He always says, it's a judge and blest the guy's
last name is Judge. You can run Judge Reinhold, you
can run Judge, Judy, Judge, Joe Brown, you can talk
about Joe Judge and just all the way a field
get good. We get judge in, which is not even
a thing. You got all the different for five seven years.

(04:17):
He's had that. Now it's a it's a judge in thing. Yeah,
there's a lot of judges that you can go to,
so many so mad you know, I don't care. You
could have done it. But remember I told you he
was gonna win the m v P. And now thirty
nine home runs, eight three RBI, still a lot of
baseball to be played. And there also is apparently some

(04:39):
baseball to be broken down. Wait, now, Frostburg, is this
a real story you have for us here? It's definitely real,
But you gotta get okay, trash can of an effort
that we're enough against the acquiring two players from the
rent Oh wow, okay? Kay? Uh Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan.

(05:04):
Johnny Bet, she's gonna show you how many baseballs he
can hold in his hand, and he's gonna sell you
some try line. Mets are getting two players and there
it's okay, is one of them? Okay? Is one of them?
Luis Castillo it's the Mats, of course, not really so

(05:27):
uh no, now I don't care. And Philip Dale, Oh okay,
it's a Pitcher's a lefty? Okay? All right? Well you know, hey,
Mets know they need a bullpen. When you when you
went into that game last night, right, do you entered
that game last night? Niquin is gonna be gonna play outfield?
You know? So that so that's not bad. Um. Look
when you have that night that you had last night,

(05:51):
and you brought in a guy to set up uh
suzer after seven sweat drenched innings, and and and and
and you know, ninety five pitches and all right, now
we're gonna we're gonna really roll right here, We're gonna
do We're gonna do something here. And then in five
pitches the lead goes. Yeah, you know you gotta eat that.
Did a little bit more for your bullpen, did a
little bit more for your bull Go and figure out

(06:13):
how to bowlster it as you can certainly, Uh, the
well traveled deal. Yeah, I think his e r A
is like over ten this year, so it's not like
you know, okay, we'll see. Yeah, I mean he's only
appeared in five games right in on the match. I
mean he's been all over You got me all excited, Frostburg.

(06:35):
We go all the way back to his days at
at Louisiana Tech. Louisiana Tech, because it was funny. He
had a five to nine e r A. There. Uh
you worked in Staten Island, Yeah, Charleston. Then he finally
made the major leagues. He was a member of the Rockies.

(06:56):
Yeah that's not good. Spent one at will and now
well he's got five appearances and eleven point one to
e r A. Yeah, I mean it look look thirds,
I mean, who knows there's only three home runs allowed?
That's not bad. Not bad. It's not that he's only
been in five games, but that's okay. No, and Nick

(07:18):
had a good year last year, but you know this
year he has not been good. But you know, here,
I wonder if now this is the Mets making some
maneuvering because they're gonna trade Dom Smith and they're gonna
trade j. D. Davis, and they're gonna do a couple
of things. And this is the one that loosened things
up for Juan. So let's do a nice little deal
here on the mound. Now, yeah, that's what's gonna be.

(07:40):
Struggled terribly in the first but was able to get
out of it. He's already at thirty pitches. Yeah, but
he's actually pitching, wearing a Mets hat, and they're pulling
him from the game right now. He's waving to the
crowd and he said they're playing New York, New York.
As he's walking off. Uh boy, they they shot of
him on the mound. There's like seven people or is
he under it? Frostburg, You got me all excited. He's

(08:07):
under there. He's pretty puffy. You know, you got me
all excited there for when you told me we got
going all in, like landing two guys that nobody's ever
heard of. Yeah, you know, how do you trade with
the Reds and knock at Louise Castillo? Uh, well, he's
not in the trade. I don't know. I don't know
what to stop. We're twenty three games over. We're not

(08:29):
the Cardinals. Come on, man, there there's cloud shows and
then there's clown shows. Uh so, yes, the Mets make
a trade at the deadline. They do not or before
the deadline. But this is a precursor to an Otani trade,
so that's okay. But yes, speaking of clown show, you
you know, you know what I like in baseball, Mike,
and I'm gonna I'm gonna move on from that from Frostburg.

(08:52):
You just have to forget it. You know what I
like in baseball is when a team scores a few
runs in an inning, but like they leave the bases loaded, right,
So like that, you know, they score like three runs
and they you know, they lead the game three nothing,
but they leave the bases loaded. And what is the
play by play announcer always saying, oh, and there's a
pop up, They'll leave the bases loaded. Inning is over,

(09:14):
but the damage has been done. And they gotlines three
runs on four hits, and the damage has been done.
And now so and so leads three nothing into the
eighth thingning the damage has been done. I think about
that when I'm gonna read you this statement from the
Arizona Cardinals. After seeing the distraction that created, we removed
the addendum from Kyler Murray's contract in regards to independent

(09:38):
film study that Murray was going to have to study
independently to get ready for his opponent every week as
part of the parameters of his two and thirty million
dollar contract extension. It was clearly perceived in ways that
were never intended. Our confidence in Kyler Murray is as
high as it's ever been, not really, and nothing demonstrates
our belief in his ability to lead this team more

(09:59):
than the commitment we're reflected in this contract. So they're
taking the claws out my carmon. But the damage has
been done to Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. What
a clown show. This has been. What a clown show.
We're gonna give you money, but we gotta make sure
we put an adendum in the contract that you study

(10:19):
because we can't trust that you'll do enough work and
prep to be ready for the game this weekend. But
then it gets out and now it it gets more
out of control than we expected. But maybe you got
the message. Now you had a press conference today and
talked about how hard you like to work. So we'll
take this addendum out of the contract. Like he was
gonna watch them anyway, but the damage has been done.

(10:42):
It's now gonna be awkward with Kyler Murray and the
Cardinals forever. There's not a lot of trust. There's not
a lot of Hey, you're our guy. It's you're our guy,
but we need you to change, you know. It's it's
like my aunt always would say to me, you know,
when it comes to marriage. He would say, you know,
I've seen so many of my friends, my women friends
marry men hoping they're going to change, and and my

(11:06):
men friends marry women hoping they don't. Right, that's she said,
you So many of my friends married guys hoping they
will change. And I always say to them, why do
you think they're gonna change? Why do you think they're
gonna change all blah blah blah blah blah, Why why
did you think this is gonna do all We're giving
you money. Now it's gonna change. Now, suddenly you're gonna
study and do all these things that was never going
to happen. All this did was create doubt around Murray's

(11:29):
status with the team, doubt about his commitment to football,
and now you have to live with the results of
this tire fire for the rest of the time. Kyler
Murray's with the Arizona Cardinals. Congratulations Arizona. And don't you
ever compare the Mets the Cardinals again, Frostburg, All right,
because I'll key your car for real this time. Hr
You got that. Yeah, there's a there's a lot to

(11:51):
this that will break down over the course of the
night or Buddy Jason Cole join us later on um
removing the clause. Look, I tried to lay out as
this started do faster yesterday and really blew up in
a big way. You understand that Kyler Murray has had
great success with whatever his process has been to date,

(12:15):
But it goes back to that Simpsons episode when he
was working for Scorpio, Right, can you guys be working harder? Yes, sir,
And then they start clickingy clacking in on the keyboards.
That much faster. Same thing here with Kyler Murray. It's
been great. We need a little bit more, right, And
I don't know in terms of his work ethic, I
don't know what had ever really been that question leadership

(12:40):
which is a whole other nebulous term. Right in terms
of how you go through some of the body language
and all that has certainly been there. But now that
this had to he has to have the impromptu press
conference was the scheduled to talk. But here he is, uh,
and he's disappointed the fact that they put it in
meant it was an issue. It should have been understood

(13:00):
in all negotiations and verbalized, should have never had to
be in writing. The fact that they insisted on that
shows how pathetic an organization they are. And this goes
back Steve came all the way up to Bidwell, uh
and and just running a joke show. Right, you could
have those conversations and then you know in that room,

(13:22):
all right, this is what we talked about. This is
the expectation we're gonna give you a giant bag. Well
now it's we gave you a giant bag, but we
also put this in and then we leaked it to
say Hey, look at the expectations, right, and here's the
possible penalties and everything else. You're going When everything gets solved,
you struggle out of the gate and their schedules, no
picnic out of the gate. Uh. And suddenly it just

(13:45):
becomes that more much more contentious. Uh, and you're wondering,
did you sign the right guy. You've got a lot
of questions on Kingsbury which are still there about all
his second half. But as I love to do it.
As soon as I started, uh, pondering this story today
and that press release and little statement that the Cardinals
put out, immediately started singing the great Tom Petty song,

(14:08):
The damage You've done? Well, I wish I had a
dollar for every piece of my broken heart. Yeah, if
they gave out a quarter for every thread of my
shattered life, baby, you'd make me a millionaire. But it
wouldn't repair the damage you've done. Damage, you've done, damage,
you've done to me, and that's where we're at. So

(14:28):
we're at now. You gotta try to repair that and
make everybody you know shiny happy, play nice sandbox. But
you've got a fracture there that is gonna be hard
to repair. We could talk about how complicated other banks
make it to redeemed credit card rewards, or we could
talk about how with Discover you can redeem your rewards
for cash and any amount of any time. I mean
talk about amazing learn more discovered dot com slash redeem rewards.

(14:51):
That's discovered dot Com slash redeem rewards terms they do apply.
So the Cardinals clown show has begun. That that peddl
to let the Cardinals that the cloud show. Uh boy,
do we have more on this story? And a big
signing in the National Football League. I'm still scratch my
head about going, ah, they did this? Why it's coming

(15:13):
up next? To keep it right here? Jayson Smith, Mike Harman,

I mean everything, The Mets do it. They're just laying
the groundwork for Soto and Otani. That's what it's going
to be. Greece and the wheels here and we're gonna
take this small deal and it sets up this larger one.
It's it's a little bit of a rope, dumb. I'll
look the Mets. That's all they were able to do. No, no, no,

(17:02):
you just watch. No think. I think it's a lot
of wishing and hoping because obviously the story of the day,
all the monstrous load of prospects that the Padres are
ready to hand over for Juan Soto man, every every
dame you've ever heard in the Padres organization. It's banner
hassle and it runs in and what's that frost gonna

(17:25):
be a huge banner they're gonna put up for that.
It's gonna be all the profects on now. Is it
a banner that when they, you know, have to beg
him to stay into you Dwight Howard situation. I'm waiting
for that big tweet the Padres are landing him. Yeah,
you know he's going out. Everybody's in the by the way,

(17:48):
Dwight Howard, we did have a tweet earlier. He's been
working in the uh, the w w E, you know,
developmental well, trying out. He's trying out for the w W. Basically,
he's trying out but working out a little bit like that. Yeah,
I want in. I want to be as manager. I
can talk him up. Wow, that would be boy. He
got He's like six ten and you're like five eight.

(18:12):
So that's gonna be. I'm just saying it will be.
You know, people will definitely know you're the manager. I
have no qualms, no problem with that. On a good program,
I'll bounce around the ropes. I'm ready. I can take
a bump Jason and the Undertaker. Oh that's true, that's true.
That's true. Yeah, car season man. Look at the hat
he's wearing, Moan allegedly. Uh so, look, look the one

(18:40):
Soto thin. Look the Mets make a minor trade to
get a couple of minor players from the Reds, not
Luis Castillo. Come on, really, but the Padres will throw
in a bunch of names. And here's how it's gonna
end up, the Padres. You'll hear Padres, Padres, Padres. And
at the end, the Dodgers are gonna say, oh, how
about the couple of guys at the top of our
minor league farm system, and Dustin May and Gavin Lux

(19:02):
and then the naturals will say yes, Dodgers, yess n
Juan Soto will go to the Dodgers. That's how it's
gonna go that. This is how the Dodgers do it.
They sit and they wait, and when it gets down
to it, hey, here are the guys. We know you
want these guys more than you want these guys. Let's
make the deal. Let's make it happen. And that's what's
gonna happen. I mean, the the Padres. They could throw
in Windfield and Gary Templeton and Benito Santiago, Cake Pev

(19:29):
they can they can throw in all those guys. Not
gonna matter. But they can throw in Trevor Hoffman. It
doesn't matter, doesn't matter now, not gonna be ashore. Absolutely.
Now we all start thinking about all stories of Kevin Brown. Yeah,
Nate Colbert, they can throw him. Oh, sure throwing all
the big stars, the Wizard of Oz from back in
the day. Sure Smith throwing it. We're gonna be great, man,

(19:53):
We're gonna play Ozzie Smith and Gary Temper. I bet
he can still turn a double play like nobody's business man.
I bet he could have. Bet he couldn't he could
give me. I don't know if he could throw the ball, well,
can you throw it all the way to first base?
But he would toss it to Benito Santiago and he would.
Santiago now plays right field and just guns guys down,

(20:14):
cannon man and now he does he does. Uh So,
more trades as they come in. Will continue to keep
you updated on them here on Fox Sports Radio. Now
we talked about the clown show that was the Arizona Cardinals.
A few's going now to get to something that I
really want to understand why this happened, because this signing

(20:35):
doesn't make any sense. DK Metcalf big headline early in
the day today, agrees to a three year, seventy two
million dollar extension with the Seattle Seahawks. Right, sixty million
dollars in guarantees, thirty million dollars signing bonus. Right, so
now he signed through. On the surface, you would say, okay,

(20:58):
here's the Seahawks. DK Metcals, one of the top five
receivers in the NFL. Was great last year even though
he played last year with a with a broken bone
in his foot. Um, yeah, you gotta keep Dk Metcalf.
But time out, time out, time out, time out, time out,
time out. You are completely starting over in Seattle your
quarterbacks this year. I know, if you know this, Russell

(21:20):
Wilson is not your starting quarterback. It's either gonna be
Drew Lock or Geno Smith. You are starting over. I
don't get what part of this the Seahawks didn't get.
You are when you are starting over, you don't sign
guys to a lot of money for a period of
time in which you're going to suck and the next
couple of years is gonna be the Seahawks rebuilding. Right,

(21:43):
They got the draft picks from the Russell Wilson trade. Great,
they're putting that in. They could have gotten two first
round picks for DK Metcalf, maybe up two picks and
a player, maybe two first and a second or a third.
I mean, DK Metcalf is that good. The guy's twenty four,
he's a top four he's top five wide receiver in
the game. Game. You get him and you sign him
for three years, just the time you're gonna be good again.

(22:04):
He's gonna hit free agency when he's twenty seven. He's
gonna get another huge contract. I mean, what are you doing?
What are you doing. I get, hey, we want to
sign DK Metcalf and show that we are going to
be beholden to players and we sign our good players
and don't let them leave. But this doesn't make any sense.
You're gonna stink for the next two or three years because, oh,
by the way, you're in a division that everybody is

(22:26):
really good right now, there's a there's a tier of
being really good. There's the Rams who are the champs.
There's the Cardinals who are ascending. There's the Niners who
were in the NFC Championship game last year. Yes, they're
starting over quarterbacks. And then there's you and then and
you're not gonna make that this year is already a
lost year because you're starting Drew lock and or Geno

(22:46):
Smith and maybe they'll trade for Sam Donald at some
point during the season and he winds up starting a game. Um,
you already giving this year away. But let's keep DK
Metcalf and let's give him all this guaranteed money while
we stink. I don't understand that. I I don't understand
this for them. You know, every time Jason Cole is
gonna come on the show next hour, and he always says,
you know, sometimes when I look at the Seahawks that

(23:07):
I see certain situations that they know they don't know
how to handle, and this is one of them. Because yes,
you would want to keep DK Metcalf, but what's better
for your team. You let Russell Wilson go. You decide, Okay,
he wants out, we're gonna trade him. You could have
got a couple more first round picks, and you remake
the team. You draft well. Because the Seahawks have drafted
pretty well, I gotta say, in the in the in

(23:27):
the Carol Schneider regime, their draft picks have been good,
better in the early part, but they still are able
to get an unearthed good players throughout the time. Right,
so they draft pretty well. Uh, signing DK Metcalf for
the next three years doesn't make any sense. It makes
no sense in this team. That's gonna stink. I don't
get it. Well. In terms of the drafting, obviously a

(23:47):
different m O from the early days, those mid round,
late round, undrafted free agents and building those rosters right
young hunger guys. Russell Wilson's a mid round pick a
Day two, you guy, and you're able to have that
great success sprinkling in veterans and making that work, and
then everybody had to get paid. But you're also then
starting to tailor your operations to try to figure out

(24:10):
how to maximize Russell Wilson while he's there. So you
go away from well what the organizational philosophy and draft
room had been, which means those last drafts don't really
grade out necessarily as well, here's your star out of it.
So you're you're trying to lock down one of your
top players, right you put them top five. I don't

(24:32):
put them quite that high. I think he's he's a
great player. But now it's for a year. It's a reset.
But you've got to think, if you're the front office
and Pete Carroll, that it's not a long term rebuild
and you still need an a list playmaker out there,
whoever the quarterback is. Because DK Metcalf can make a

(24:52):
lot of guys look good, and I think, yeah, I
cautioned against laughing at this squad and thinking they're gonna
be that wolfl. Right. If if Trey Lance has the
issues that everybody seems to think he's going to, well,
then there are now nowhere close to being a team
competing for an NFC title slot. Again, the Cardinals were

(25:13):
talking about what a clown show they are and we
can't figure out a second half of the season. Right.
Did Kingsbury suddenly go into the lab and figure something
out in New Concoction? Or is he gonna be figured
out after whatever they do in the first six weeks? Again?
Maybe maybe not, But then you're looking at Seattle, slow
and steady wins the race, and sometimes they're just good

(25:34):
enough to mess things up. Am I thinking Drew Locker
Geno Smith setting the world on fire? No? But if
I got dk Metcalf and I got Tyler Lockett healthy,
and I got no Ah Fan, I think I got
a pretty good trio that I can start to work
with and maybe make some plays. I have four words
for you and all of that you said, that was,
like Fred Quinn says in in My Cousbind That was

(25:56):
a well thought out, lucid, intelligent objection. That was a
well thought out Drew lock Geno Smith, these are your quarterbacks,
These are your quarterback throwing up. Let guys make plays.
Run the football, Run the football with Walker and with
Rashad Penny. What's this play gonna be? Again? Don't tell
me it's gonna run down field. You're gonna throw it

(26:16):
up to me. I'm exhausted. That's the play. That's what
coach wants. Uh, Come on, man, you get paid million
dollars a year. You got thirty million guaranteed. Damn it. Yeah.
With great paycheck comes great responsibility and a dictation. Isn't
that what we were just talking about with Kyler Murray?
They gave you a giant bag. You know what, you

(26:37):
need to do more of the clinical stuff that other
quarterbacks do, even if the other stuff has worked for
you really well thus far. Likewise, here you still need
some chips on the table. They decided they like DK
Metcalf enough that he is one of the fixtures going forward,
regardless of the short term quarterbacking needs. I really, I

(26:59):
I don't. I don't, but I don't get it. You
are starting, you're watching guys retire, you're watching guys walk away.
You have gotten rid of your franchise quarterback. But no, no, no,
there it does. It doesn't matter you got rid of him.
He was what happened. Always wait, no, no, you always
say you don't have to trade him, just because I
don't know. I agree, I don't. They moved, They decided

(27:22):
to move on. They would have told him beat it,
you got a contract, but they but they in the fall.
Instead he's wearing his jersey showing up somewhere else. They
moved on, and now and now and now they have Okay,
you have a couple of nice players that receiver, you do,
but really, when are you going to contend? What? What? What?

(27:43):
How is it gonna start? You're given dk Metcalf all
this money, it's guaranteed so much money in assigning bonus,
and he's gonna get it and and and have zero
impact and zero impact on the standings. And how you
can do I mean, now he's also under contract, Jason,
So if you side right, right, But if you decided
midway through the year, it's a new NFL, you decide

(28:05):
midway through the year that you know what, maybe it's
for the best. Let's talk about this. There's gonna be
people that would love a DK Metcalf whose contract has
already extended for a couple of years, And maybe there's
a deal in place where you go and you grab
more assets, more draft picks. You know how much I
love stockpiling draft picks. But if you trust that your

(28:27):
draft acumen and the brilliance that you showed a decade
ago can be resurrected, you know, like a zombie doctor
strange if you think you can do that and suddenly
get yourself rolling again. Hey, you know, maybe maybe that's
the deal you make. Like, I think he gives them
a little bit of flexibility because he's not a guy

(28:48):
that's in in question, but you're giving him thirty million
dollar signing bonus to trade him in eight weeks. Hey,
thanks for those eight weeks. Man, here's the thirty million
dollars that you move on. Did you not see the
financials from what each team got from the NFL? The
Packers stuff came out again, like almost four million dollars
off the national money. They're doing just fine, you know,

(29:12):
but there's a thing called the salary cap. They can't
they can't go over and you can use your money
in other places. Now you can dance, have we not
you figured out how much you can dance with the cap?
Come on, you just dance with a cap cap, he
said cap. Although although I did see a video of
a dancing dog a little bit. You went to Northwestern.
I bet there's some videos when you were in college

(29:33):
of you dancing with a cat after Northwestern won their
yearly football game. Iusn't really the wildcat? And back then, yeah,
we did only win a couple of games. And I
bet there's videos of that harmon walking around. Those are
some lean years man licking it, licking his hand like
it's a paw. I mean, people spilling alcohol and you

(29:54):
don't want to waste it. Why isn't a cat wearing boots?
And how's the sword? Hey? Isn't that the guy who
is in the financial office that I met with on
Friday about he being able to stay on and make
payments and now he's dancing with a cat? Hey? Man
business during the week and sometimes you gotta let your

(30:14):
hair down and let the free flag lie. So cats
twittering out about a fresh Jason Smith show with my
best friend. I'll show it. I'm gonna put a picture
on it because it's a brilliant looking Willie the Wildcat.
He looks kind of crazy. He may or may not
be drunk in this photo. He's my best friend. Meal Carmen.

with Discover you can redeem your rewards for cash in
any amount at any time. I mean talk about amazing

(33:04):
learn more discovered dot com slash redeem rewards terms they
do apply. One of the most controversial topics this week
has been the Charles Barkley status. Is he going to
stay in broadcast for T n T and still be
a big basketball voice or is he going to go
to the Live Tour in a broadcasting role. Well, the

(33:24):
big Uh Live pro am happened today at Trump National
Golf Club in Bedminster, and Barkley said that, Hey, I
gotta have a decision soon. I'm still waiting for an
offer from the Live Tour. He's at a conversation with
Greg Norman and he's still waiting for an offer. Now
you can see the Barkley thing for exactly what it is.

(33:46):
Right now the time has gone by, and especially with
his admittance today that I haven't gotten the offer Yet
what Charles Barkley is doing is simply trying to get
more money out of T n T to stay. He
has talked about how sponsors have to know. Subway's gotta know.
He's mentioned Subway in Capital One and Dick Sporting Goods

(34:07):
every single time he's talked, Look, look, I know the
sponsors want to know what I'm doing. Now this is
Barkley saying, Okay, T n T is gonna have to
give me more money to stay because now I have
an option. I want to show you that I have
an option. Do I think he was gonna go, No,
he's not. He knows that however much longer he has
to be a broadcaster. If he leaves for the live tour,

(34:30):
his relevancy is out the window. And he likes people
paying attention to what he has to say, because we
told you if he left, that would be taken up
really fast. T and T would find a way to go. Well,
we're gonna have Draymond Green on this night. We're gonna
have Patrick Beverley on this night. There are many opinionated
players right now who have big podcasting UH duties, and
they're very popular and they're more outspoken than they've ever

(34:52):
been before. If T n T lost Barkley, they would
be able to move on from him pretty quickly. They
I don't know that they know that, and bar please
using this is as the leverage say hey, you know
I could go to the Lift Tour. You guys want
me to stay, right, you want to give me more money, right,
so I'll stay. So Barkley is really positioning from a
strength of position of weakness, making it seem like it's strength,

(35:15):
much like Draymond Green saying, hey, I want I want
a maximum from Golden State. Well, do we know you're
not that good anymore. So what he's doing now is
simply trying to get whatever, whatever, more money he can
squeeze out of t n T to stay because the
fact he doesn't have an offer yet. That Live tour
is offering everybody everything on on every every other day,

(35:35):
there's somebody leaving, there's offers that are happening, there's offers
that happen incredibly quickly on the Live Tour, and he
still doesn't have one. Yeah, now he's just trying to
get more money out of t NT. No, it's always
look if you've got some sort of leverage real or imagined.
You take your shot right in this case, yeah, I
had dinner with Greg Norman and and you start to

(35:55):
speak it out and you watch the way the wind blows.
The fact that it got the react and it did
shows you exactly how powerful Barkeley still is. Right, So
when you look at the sponsors, there's a lot of
brand equity from all those ads that he's done, and
certainly the TNT crew, Yeah they can they can put

(36:17):
somebody else in, you know for Barkley, you know, he
can go the Draymond route, start doing a podcast, just
needs someone to tea him up. It'd be good to go,
and it could probably monetize that fairly quickly. But it's
it's still the the question of do you want to
restart everything? Because that's that's really what a lot of
it is. Right you're on cruise control, You've got deals

(36:38):
in place and renegotiate. You got three years, thirty million,
and yes, you're looking around seeing what all these other
broadcasters are getting from ROMO to what Joe Buck and
Troy Aikman got to go over to ESPN and and
going on down the line saying well, I gotta be
worth at least that look how much people love what
we do, so you try to to make your power place.

(36:59):
See if can't ink a new deal, whether there's extra
years tacked on or just a little more juice to
keep you there. I can't blame him. I never thought
he was gonna go. I thought I thought it was here.
I can. I can really push the buttons on this
on a whole other level, because that's who I am,
and that's and that's what he's done. Yeah, I mean,
look for in the beginning, when you hear the money

(37:21):
and you hear the players that that are going to go.
We had the debate last night about you know, how
to reconcile it with yourself that I'm gonna take the money,
uh you know, and a very controversial money from the
from this tour and go. But this is now really
this just seems like this is Charles Barkley business man. Right.
I I can deal with the bad publicity for a
couple of weeks while people think I'm gonna go. He

(37:43):
sees what the publicity form would look like if he
does go. So okay, now it's gonna just like business,
all right. They want me, but I would like to stay.
You got a little bit extra money for me. You
gotta get a guy I can add another zero or
you know, to the end of my paycheck. There Ah great,
Uh yeah, Hey, I always wanted to stay at T
n T. This is wonderful. He's just trying to get
money to stay, and that's what's gonna wind up happening.

(38:04):
He'll announce he's gonna stay, he's getting more money. He'll
be happy and go on the Dan Patrick Show and
tell everybody, Uh, we got more big stories out of
the NFL. Next right here, Fox
