Speaker 1 (00:00):
After another awesome weekend of success. Speaking of support, the
Warrior is we are to believe might well be opening
the season next year in Las Vegas as part of
the NL's multi year push into the States. To worry.
CEO Cameron George is with us. Cameron, morning to you,
Good morning, Mike. How good was Saturday night though? Over
the Cowboys?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Mate? It was a really, really good effort. That's a
tough road trip and we just want to tuck that
one away and get home and just focus on Melbourne. Now.
It's going to be a big week.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Ahead, and once upon a time Melbourne would be an impediment.
But I don't think anymore. I think that we stand
as good a chance as any side of beating them,
don't we.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, absolutely, mate, But the boys have got a lot
of belief back now. They just need there's a bit
of luck. We've got players coming back, but it's just
a strong underbelly of you know, we can do this
and we're going after everything we can in the last
part of the season.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Good talk to me about Vegas. Where are we at
and what are the chances we're there at the beginning
of next year.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
There's a big chance, but middlely, we're We're not confirmed.
I have got some paperwork I'm working through with the NRL.
Catch up again later this week, but we are a chance.
We're away team, so it doesn't impact on our home
home game schedule and that's absolutely non negotiable. So if
(01:13):
the NRL agrees to that, you know we're a chance
of being there.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Is there a big pitch going on? Is that what happens?
You pitch to the NRL and say we should be
there because of X Y Z Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
They do ask what you can bring to the table,
But look, I think it could be a bit of
a last man standing. Every club has to go over
the next few years. And my view is, look, it's
a chance to grow our brand. It's a great experience
for our footy club, our fans and everyone. As long
as you know we looked after and the terms are
right and we get what we need out of it,
I think it's not a bad opportunity for our footy club.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
What's your assessment of how it went in the in
the opening part of the season. Is it seen within
the NRL as being successful?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yeah, Look, I think they learn a lot, a real lot,
and I've spoken to a lot of the clubs it went,
and you know, they've given us a lot of advice
us and so on, and the NR a lot taking
that on board. And this year is it looks like
it's a much better opportunity for the clubs. But overall
the game, you know, I got a lot out of it,
and we're all part of trying to grow the game
and this is just our chance to be a part
of it, sooner rather or later.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Fantastic. Where are we going to know one way or
the other?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Well, mate, I'm hoping in the next week or two
for sure, but look we're certainly looking through the paperwork now.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Fantastic. Go well mate, appreciate it very much. Cameron George
