Princess Catherine appears to be happy to be returning to the public eye.

The Princess of Wales has been pictured smiling in a carriage, alongside her three children, for the traditional Trooping the Colour parade.

It's her first public appearance since revealing her cancer battle.

Daily Mirror royal correspondent Russell Myers says the Princess released a statement before the event.

"She was enjoying getting back to some sort of normality - that's very important for cancer patients. She said that she's going to try and get to some engagements in the summer."

Speaker 1 (00:00):
So what a fantastically uplifting site the return to public
life and the Princess of Wales was yesterday, wasn't it
Beck for the trooping of the Calor alongside her husband
of father in law. The kids were their royal editor
of the Daily Mail, Russell Myers, as with us on
this Russell, very good morning to you.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Good morning Mike.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
I mean I'm a super fan, but I mean she
looked fantastic, The family looked fantastic. It was just the
whole thing was just magnificent, wasn't it when it.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Was I mean, you know, went off without a hitch
and I think, you know, good scenes compared to what
we were expecting, or you know, thinking about what we
would expect just a few weeks ago. Of course, the
King and the Princess of Wales have at a pretty
tumultuous time of it over the last few weeks and months,
both being diagnosed with cancer in February and having their
treatment every week since then, so we didn't know whether

(00:45):
we were going to see the King, and then of
course the Princess of Wales has been out of duty
since Christmas and we haven't seen her at all. But
you know, fantastic scenes on the balcone, the kids, you know,
lighting up the event as well, and you know, went
off without the hitch is great.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
The I'm sure you've seen the photo. There was a
photo on the balcony. Her eyes met his, his eyes
that that photo was just gold, wasn't it told you
a million things?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Well it did, I mean, you know, and a lot
of people had we had this sort of crazy speculation
when Kate was unwell, and then of course she had
to come out and tell the world that she'd had
been suffering this sort of cancer diagnosis in the background,
and all the weight of expectation on her about when
she was going to be seen again. And certainly, you know,

(01:30):
I just broke a story about the people allegedly accessing
her private medical data. It's been a real, real tough
time for her. But she looked fantastic. She said herself
just the day before that there's been good days and
bad days, and she was hoping to try and get
back to some sort of normality over the next few
weeks and you know, returning to work at home and

(01:51):
trying to do things over the summer. But certainly her
family and especially her husbands have been a great, great source.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Of comfort, and we've seen that beautiful Father's Day photo
today as well. Do we have any actual official comment
on what we expect moving forward for her for the
rest of the year or not.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Well, certainly, well, you know, people are spoken to it
at the palace and said, listen, this is a very
tentative time. She needs the time to rest and recuperate.
That we can't make assumptions of how she's going to
be feeling from one week or the next. But she
did say a very moving statement just the day before trooping,
this statement that she delivered on Friday, saying that she

(02:29):
was enjoying getting back to some sort of normality that's
very important for cancer patients. She said that she's going
to try and get to some engagement in the summer.
We don't know what they're going to look like at
the moment, but I imagine they'll take the vein of
her main projects, the early years developed and the mental
health products that she's so involved in. And I think that,

(02:51):
as I said, baby steps for now, a very tentative time,
but hopefully we're going to see her before too long.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Look, all right, Russell, catch up with you. So I
appreciate it very much, Russell Meyers. For more from the
