Speaker 1 (00:00):
Andrews Hervilger help whether us Good morning lads, good welcome back,
Thank you very much guy. You following Ryan Fox and Mississippi?
Is this is this he's on a surge.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
I was going to bring this up with you. Years
three under in the first five holes. I think it
is four or five holes of his of his final
round now only three shots back. Look, he's probably he's
probably secured his card for next year, and you know,
considering he's played some good tournaments this year, but a
win would just secure it even more and well secure

(00:34):
it totally and probably get him into more tournaments as well.
So it is a It is a big final round
for him. He's had a mixed year, I would say,
and he's had a little bit of an injury as well.
I think it's been a hit problem that he's had.
But yeah, I'd love to see him win a tournament
over there. He deserves it. He's a good enough player
to do it, and it would be a be huge
from if he could.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Early in the round. So you never know. Did you
stay up last night, Sam?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeah? I did, I did. I was only going to
watch the first half and then not off. But what
a fantastic game you never want to see. If you
ever want to see a sports team in sync and
a sports team at the peck of its game, it's
the Penrith Panthers. What an outstanding football side you there's
an article round the weekend, Mike. They come up with

(01:20):
a plan in twenty eleven to start in twenty fifteen
for ten years of dominance, you're forgetting their junior programs lined,
all their junior teams under Ivan Cary basically filtered down
through the whole structure of Penrith.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
They do recruit.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Sometimes out of that area, but generally all those guys
at Penrith juniors. It's a fantastic story.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
You can't argue with its success.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
And it's Nathan's a freak and so I mean, I
think he would be good wherever he goes. But Ivan
clear is is one of those I mean, you can't help,
and somebody raised it on text before. You can't help,
But think what might have been given he was here
for a and if we'd hold on to a blah
blah blah. But you know, it is what it is.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I guess, I mean I heard your coming, but yeah,
I look, it's hard to tell what would have happened
if he'd stayed on. The great shame was that he didn't,
and there's several factors there. He should have. He should
have been encouraged more to stay. Whether or not he
would have harnessed the junior league talent in Auckland and

(02:26):
New Zealand to make the Warriors a team like Ben
ra who knows, but he's a very very good coach.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
About tell you who I was upset about, guys Jimmy Spittle.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, I was a little bit too. I really like
Jimmy Spittle. I think he brings a I don't know,
he's a bit of an Alarican, bit of a joker, obviously,
he's a heck of a good sailor and he just
knows the right thing to say to winden people up.
He's the perfect guy that you need on the opposition
to make it an interesting kind of competition, a bit

(02:56):
of fun. But as I say, he's bloody good at
what he does as well. So yeah, I think that
I think the regatta and sailing in general will probably
miss Jimmy Spittle a lot. Every every competition needs someone
like him. He's been a great adversary, I suppose for
for New Zealand to face over the years. And I
don't know what Italy will do without him. I think

(03:18):
they kind of need him and I think it's a
real shame that he's gone.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Would you do I'd love to see him start. I'd
love to see him start on Aussie America's Cup challenge
to know whether that will happen. But had a chance
to interview him several times and when the Cup was
there last and great bloke. He's one of those guys
you can need an interview. He'll give it back to you.
You give it better to him. And he's great. He's
great pottery, Yeah, I know he is.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
And and what I what I I don't think anybody
asked him, which is a shame is obviously if he
had won and beaten Lunar, he would have stayed on
for the America's Cup. If he had won the America's Cup,
would he have stayed on? That's what I wanted to know,
And nobody seemed to ask that question or whether he
was he would have won and gone, That's what I
don't you reckon.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
He would have stayed on? Surely you reckon if if
the Italians had made the Cup final and then won
the car.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
He would stay on surely wouldn't today he probably would have.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Isn't it faggering that that that Prada over the last
twenty odd years missed. Prada is probably put in around
a billion dollars and he nothing to show.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, well, are they going to keep doing it? That's
but that's.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
That's often and you should Redcliffe look at me. If
you don't know the Radcliffe story, he's he's the inios,
He's he's a fantastic story. And the America's Cup has
steeped in the history of people who become obsessed with
the sport. And they won't see the billion dollars as
we haven't won it. It'll be the investment towards the
day that we do. And that's that's what they aim for.

(04:50):
Save I note that Patsy Ready is going to stand
down as she said she would. Who would replace her?
Is there any hot contender? And doesn't make any I.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Don't think so well make a difference. So I've got
to get the right people on this new board number one,
and then secondly have a decent chair to at the
head of that board. A lot of issues going on
still on Rugby mic and that board is one of
the key ones that needs to be sorted by the
end of the year.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Do you reckon? It's one of those things that I mean,
if they came to you, would you. You know, there
are certain jobs when someone goes, hey, have you ever
thought of doing that? You think? Nah, I really that's
just a mine field of disaster, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yep, wouldn't touch it. Take someone pretty special to head
that board. But there, you know, there is the odd
glimmer of hope. But that definitely number one. That board
needs to be. The new board needs to be sort
of in the right way.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
And because we got two o'clock this afternoon, I don't
get excited about this because you know how many they're
going to name eighty three of them and they'll wander off.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
To Japan thirty I think, the thirty six and the
your Black squad. There's twenty nine and your Black fifteen
squad to have play a couple of games overseas. So
if you don't either of those teams, you'd be bringing
your agents saying get me out of it, wouldn't you.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, I would have thought so. But England, Ireland, France,
that's at least because so often you go on a
Northern Tour guy and you play the duds. They don't
sort of organize it in the way that you would
want it organized properly. So England, Ireland, France. It's not
a bad selection of available European teams, is it?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
This is going to be. I think the best end
of the year toob is Northern Tour. We've seen for
a while in terms of the caliber that the All
Blacks are playing, and we will know pretty quickly just
where this All Blacks team is at. And we've spoken
a lot about you know, yes, they've been shaky at times,
but I thought they played pretty well in South Africa.
They probably should have won one of those tests. If
they can go on that Northern Tour and beat two

(06:43):
of those three teams, I think that would be deemed
to success.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Is that all we ask for these days?

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Is it just in the current climate where they haven't
played overly well so farthest Yes, I think for them
to go and work to beat England, Ireland and France
at their home venues, I think that would be a
good achievement.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I wouldn't I wouldn't take Perinard. I think he's playing
well on us take Sam. I'd take Sam Kane because
he's playing well, but also for his voice and leadership
off the field. I think your Wax are desperate for that.
I don't know whether he will go, but i'd take
him right there's still despite that win and will there's
still a bit of a disconnect and amongst that team
and with the new coaches. Still, I just I still

(07:28):
don't think things have been bettered down properly.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Do you know? Do you know? One of the highlights
that I watched in the weekend, tell me was the
and save you'll be interested in this because you're guess
was it?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Was it the ninth from Dubin.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
No, it wasn't, although there was very good racing in
the weekend. But the highlight for me, and you'll be
interested in this because you are into your age grade
basketball and that sort of thing, was the National Secondary
Schools Boys basketball Final. I didn't see any of the girls,
but I'm sure it was good, but the boys final.
And part of the reason why I watched it was
because christ College were playing and it popped up on
my Facebook page. But I'll tell you what the reason

(08:06):
why I bring this up is because the level of
play and the skill in that game absolutely extraordinary. I
couldn't believe how good those how good the boys were.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Who played then Christ College and who it.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Was Christ College and Napier Boys, And it was a
It was a great game of basketball. It went down
to the last position. I think that in the end
it was a couple of points in it, and both
teams were just outstanding. I was genuinely blown away by
how good the quality of the basketball.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
And let me let me give this guy, give them
the money Christ's College had. There was a guy called
lebron playing for them.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Bronny, actually, Bronnie, tell you what.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Right, mate? And and and you and Rugby wonders why
I no more big kids are playing the game, and
why would you if.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
You've ever been to the Christ College gym, which I have,
and when you came in a new one, yeah, well
was there and I played there. They probably had three
or four cents then. But I'll tell you what. It was,
floor to ceiling glass overlooking the river. It had it
had virtually had indoor outdoor flying was a house built
by Fair and Hay. It was incredible. I'd never seen

(09:14):
anything like glass backs and we sort of had to
hitchhike across town from Linwood.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Took us two days to do it.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Given did they kick your They kick your bags on
the did.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
On the way in and on the way out. They
had new they had new balls, they had us. It
was just it was like a different whirl. It was
like I couldn't believe it. And that was that was
I don't know, because because you would.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Need to get out of the get home, Mike, you
would have won the cave because you were you had
that hunger.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Well, you know what it was. You know what. It's
interesting to say that what I found and you'd be
disappointed to hear this guy. They were soft. They weren't
They were you know, they were soft because they had
the nice surroundings and you know, the nice cord. We
killed them. We came into town, we cleaned them up,
and we went back across the others.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Speaking of what about tell us about the new TV.
Have told us about the new TV?

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Well, I can't because I know nothing of it. It's
just this is that quite true massive thing?

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Did were you not presented with a couple of options
and you and you made a call to go with
a bigger option.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
And I said, what we've done and this is this,
this is this is how embarrassing this whole story is
is it's a small room. And my wife decided that
the small room was no longer use useful. It made
us look pretentious because the small room was a shoe room,
and it was a room in which we stored shoes

(10:42):
like a Meldon macOS, like a mountain, a shoe room.
So we've gone out, we've gone, and we'd gone and
built shoeshelves. So the whole room was full of shoesholves.
All I didn't I didn't think so and she comes,
she come out of the room one day she goes,
this is pretentious nonsense. We're going to turn this into

(11:06):
a snug like coronation stream. And so so we ripped
out the shoeshelves and we installed the new television. And
Paul's our tech guy, and I said, Paul, bigger the
better he goes this, look it'll look ridiculous. And I said,
no it won't, Paul. You wait till it's in. And
I said, go bigger, even bigger. Still, anyway, whatever we got,

(11:29):
it's so big it takes up the whole wall. And
yet as I sat down there over the weekend for
the first time, I just stared at this thing. I went,
it's fantastic, and everyone agreed.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
How big is it?

Speaker 1 (11:39):
I reckon it could be one hundred.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
No, it's seventy seven.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Is it only seventy seventy five?

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Seven?

Speaker 1 (11:46):
It's seventy seven?

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Is it so high tech? Does it get trap side
TV on it?

Speaker 1 (11:52):
It's I haven't got all the channels, haven't gone through
all the channels yet, but it's bound to have some
track side.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Just trackside dot ind if you can't find it on
your TV, might suppose oh it.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Does stream stuff, so I could stream that up because
it's got the YouTube. So anyway, nice, I can't help
but think that we got slightly off piece there. Anyway,
Nice to see you guys, Will see you next Monday.
Guy who Elton Andrews savell.
