Speaker 1 (00:00):
State side this Monday morning. Richard Arnold, how are you
doing well? Heyy, SpaceX looks good. It's a good video.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
This was amazing, even in this modern age of spaceships
and rocketry. SpaceX, of course, Elon Musk's company managed to
recapture its huge Starship rocket booster during an unmanned test
flight this morning, something that has never been done before.
It was kind of hard to believe what was going on.
They launched the Starship from their They launched site on
the Texas Gulf coast, and three minutes and forty seconds
(00:27):
after liftoff, the massive booster fell away, then flipped around
and headed back to Earth. This is equipment about twenty
three stories high one hundred and twenty one meters, and
it was sent into this re entry. Meanwhile, the upper
stage looped around the planet been made a control splash
down in the water. It came through intense heat of
reentry nearly three thousand degrees in pretty good condition. They're
(00:50):
saying protected by some newly improved heat shield tiles because
they had some problems last go.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
But that wasn't the main show.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
The main focus was this super heavy rocket booster was
headed back towards the launch pad itself. The idea was
to try to catch this thing using giant mechanical pincer
arms that were attached to the launch tower itself.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
They're calling these things chopsticks.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
So this gargantuan booster headed towards the ground, sort of
wabbling a bit and seeming like it might be of
course at moments then some rocket jets were fired and
it settled right in between these huge mechanical arms.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
And this was the moment.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Macadella, Well, you can hardly hear the controllers with all
the cheering that's going on here.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
We have successifying the launch shower.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
Trying to do.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well. It didn't come down once the booster was locked
in there.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
The monster gone.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Loud one both. This is a jay for the engineering
history books.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I am, I am like.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
So the implications of this clear.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
It's to move towards reusability, as they call it, rapid
reusability and more because this is the most powerful rocket
ever produced, twice the liftoff thrust of the Apollo Erasatin fives,
and both stages are meant to be reusable. That is,
not only to cut the cost but also to open
up the possibility since the idea is that the starship
could touch down at landing sites on Earth and beyond,
(02:42):
so the thinking is they could use the system to
power their way to But at Mass.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Seems to do rockets better than he does cars. Anyway,
Another rally, another gun.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, just over three weeks to election day, as you've
been saying, and Trump has been out west, holding a
rally in California, this time because no chance of winning
in California. But this was a dig at Harris and
her money raising stop as he appeared at a ranch
in Coachilla where a Las Vegas man has been arrested
carrying a shotgun and a loaded handgun and a high
capacity magazine.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
This folk was forty nine.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
We don't have a lot of detail about him as yet,
but this follows, of course, the two assassination bids on Trump.
There was some heckling at the Trump rally, and Trump
sought to ridicule one female heckler with an apparent call
to violence himself.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
He said, this back home to mummy.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
She goes back home to mommy, is that you darning?
And did she? Yes?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Her father and mother would knock the hell out of her,
suggests Trump there for the rest of it, it was
California bashing and various Kamala Harris gibs along the way.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Said Trump, he.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
Supported an army of illegal alien gang members and migrant
criminals from the dungeons of the third World. They come
from the dungeons of the third World. Anyone who orchestrated
an invasion of America cannot lead America. Kamala Harris, a
raign of terror ends the day I take office. She's finished.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
So what is it the invasion from the dungeons of Hell?
In a Kamala Harris reign of terror? Yeah, three weeks ago, folks.
Harris meantime, has put out her medical record showing she
is healthy and challenging the seventy eight year old Trump
for keeping all of his medical stuff locked away. While
on that point, you mentioned the slip in the polls
and Harris's support among some African American males. Former President
(04:26):
Barack Obama, who is addressing some of that.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Or even supporting some who has a history.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
So latest polls, We've seen all the polling for months
showing this race's neck and neck with battleground states all
within the margins of era. Latest from NBC shows that
Harris has lost her five point advantage in overall popularity
since the Harris Trump debate. Now as you indicate a
dead heat, so a US country divider.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
She's a race I see Wednesday, Richard Donald state side.
Please speaking of Trump. By the way, I read a
review over the weekend on The Apprentice got three stars
as the Australian media impersonating Donald Trump as a losing proposition.
But Sebastian Stan nails that this is the program. This
is a movie that we featured on the program last week.
Looks okay trailer looks okay to me. It's out now
if you want to go see it. For more from
(05:17):
the Mic Asking Breakfast, listen live to news talks.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
It'd be from six am weekdays, or follow the podcast
on iHeartRadio.
