Sophie Moloney: Sky TV CEO on the network switching their satellite

Some advice for people who are having trouble with their Sky boxes this morning after a satellite switch. 

The television network officially made the switch this morning, as it's D2 satellite is due to reach the end of its life in May. 

All broadcast channels were off-air at the same time overnight. 

Sky TV CEO Sophie Moloney told Mike Hosking there's any easy fix if boxes aren't working. 

She says if they're not working properly, do a hard reboot and if that doesn't work, give them a call.

Indeed, all seemed to go well. All my TV's worked
to yours.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yes, so look absolutely thrilled to confirm the successful migration
to the new satellites. And you know you don't get
many moments like this in a career mic where you
have a team who go above and beyond to deliver
such a complex project. So yeah, absolutely thrilled. We've actually
got a couple of our in home tech traveling have
traveled to Stuart Island on the barge. They're spending the

next two weeks there and make sure customers and Stuart
Island will also be connected. And we do have a
few areas that we still need to get to, but
overall hugely thrilled at the successful migration.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
In terms of how we got here in the grief
you've taken. How has that been as a learning experience?

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, you know, a huge learning experience. You know, to
think that we started this financial year not knowing we
had to deliver this and then to deliver it on
time with many many learnings along the way, things not
going as you expect, you know, it is hugely usually humbling.
To be honest, this team is pretty remarkable and it's

because we want to deliver the amazing sporting and entertainment
moments for Kiwis as your experience at the weekend, mate.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yes, indeed I did what I didn't experience at the weekend.
Sophie was the snooker. Now, where the hell is the sneaker?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Snooker? Twenty second to the twenty fourth of July.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
No Championship, the World chap. The World Championship is coming
up at the Crucible in about a week's time. Have
you got the World Championship?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Well, I'm going to it's not on my notes here, Mike,
so I'm going to go speak to my partnership team.
But we do have the champions League and we've got
the Championship champions in November. But you know you can't
make it much more than.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
It's a niche sport. I fully understand it, and I'm
a weirdo for following it. But nevertheless, so it must
be cheap, cost you nothing to get the snooker on
at the Crucible.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
You would like to think so, but I will follow
up with a team mat as they did last time
when you talked about it. But when you talk about
the level of the opportunity of the sport, I can't
really get through all of the sport we had on
at the weekend kind of everything you can think about.
So you know, what a huge moment for teams. Guy.

might need help, and just for those who switch on

they could just do a hard reboot, so unplug it
at the wall, count to ten and restart and if
that doesn't work, give us a call.

I promised i'd get you those. The women's final, which
was on in primetime, collected four hundred and five thousand,
which is not bad, twenty seven on Sport and Open

now fifty five and Go twenty three, so four oh
five in total. Compare it to the night before Crusaders Hurricanes,
so that's apples and apples six hundred and five, so
six o five plays four h five. The day game
Blues Muana Pacifica was three seventy one, so overall more
sport has been watched, so they'll be pleased about that.
