Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tim Wilson's Weathers, along with Kate Hawk's be good morning to.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
You, Good morning hey, Red christ Church restaurant recommendations. They
just have to say yes that you failed to mention anati.
And my sister was there last night and she claims
it's the greatest food in the world. And they do
the most phenomenal duck trumpets that they're famous for trumpets.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Everything comes into a trumpet these days. It started from
Heston Bloom and Feld. And you make something into a
trumpet or a little cone, and it looks like an
ice cream, but it tastes like.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Does it have does it have wafer waifer? It like
the wafer cones.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yep, can be the little wafer cones, a little mini
wafer cones, or they hand make them with something like seaweed.
You like a little seaweed cone and you'll get something
that's called crayfish cone or something like that. Very nice.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
They dotef beef donuts. I don't think they're called I
think they're called something more flash though this.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Cuisine.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yes, well, my recommendations reasonable. So if I said twenty
seven cheers steps rather twenty seven steps, Bessie, we did
Bessie was very good, and that's got fabulous steak if
you're into steak and an arty. I don't think we've
ever been to an arty, have we No?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
But our family, parents, siblings are all obsessed with that.
We yet too, We yet to go, but we've heard
amazing things. That's why we haven't been.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
It's too expensive and we've got no money.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
It's not too expensive.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
It was okay, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Very it's not fine dining, but it's probably very very.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Since telling me twenty eight to thirty two for remain,
that's a bargain.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
That's quite that's quite. That sounds quite good. Hey, you know,
can we get back to David Byrne. You know when
you were playing that, Mike, I thought that was you singing?
Did you sound like David Byrne? Because i've heard you,
you know, I have a few guys at it, and
I thought, initially this is hoskag.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
That's unsaying. It's unfortunate because I didn't think much of it.
And so therefore what you're saying is you don't think
much of my singing, which is fair enough, because I
give you a few lines of second I'm not giving.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Actually actually, in fact, I had lunch with David Byrne once.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Did you wear at an arty?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
No, not an ARTI at my mate's place in Connecticut.
He was a bit grim was your mate's place on
can sort of?
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Was he there and you just turned up? Or did
you go, hey, David, let's have lunch. I've got a
mate in Connecticut, will go there? Or did you.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
My dear friend Helen, she organized that she.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Knew him, so she knew David.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
But I know the schmuck from New Zealand who loves
I mean, a big fan of talking heads. Yes, were
you overwhelmed? I think I was a bit as well,
sort of like you know, watching your p's and q's.
Oh and he's so quiet?
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Oh is he? Do you have some good stories to tell?
Not that I recall, Okay, because I remember. The only
reason I know about Cones is I hung out with
Heston Blum and film for a while and he was
he was, he was a fantastically I flew across the
Tasman with him. As the point anyway, he was doing
a show here and I sort of got hooked into
(02:59):
the show, and so they flew me over to Brisbane
to see a show. So I knew what the hell
I was doing when he brought a show to New Zealand.
So I flew back from Brisbane with him. And he's
an awfully likable guy and so I learned a lot
of good time. Yeah, very good time, and I was.
But I'm very sad to see what happened to him
in later years and all that sort of stuff. Katie
the business, I'm quite overwhelm. Can I tell you the
(03:20):
story that Kerry machaiber Woodham and I can never remember
which one it is, but Kerry Woodham came in before
and you, apparently Katie know about this. She presented me
with a bottle of wine.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I told her not to do that. I said, just
give him a big kiss, don't buy him wine, can.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I be honest? And so I'd rather have the wine.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I know why we both laughed when I said.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
It, because she's presented me with her She walked in
with a bottle of wine. The wine's in a box
and it's a beautiful bottle of wine. It's a fabulous
bottle of wine. She sent me a card and she
and I said what is this? And she goes, I
just want to say thank you, And I said what for?
She goes just for everything, and I thought, oh, this
is this is not good. I said, are you leaving?
(04:03):
And she goes, no, not that I know of. I said,
it's just that Jason was saying the stuff the other day,
and I clearly just got back to you. Anyway. I
had to suck the fue out of a bob, but
I loved it. She said she was just thanking me
for being successful, and that success then translates and allows
her to do her show more successfully because of the
(04:23):
success at this time of the morning. Isn't that singularly
the nicest thing you've ever experienced in your life.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
She's a good person. That's very generous. I did did
beg her not to spend money on your sort of
wine tastes, and so I'm sad she's done that.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
No, well, you said you shouldn't be, said, I'm not
sharing it with you. I would not. You should share
it with Carry. I should share it with Carry.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
You should. Actually, why don't you crack it.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
After the show? I would not because I got to
go home. I would not be number one without inheriting
a tsunami of listeners from you, which I ride for
three hours before crashing it. This needs to be acknowledged
and I hope this token of appreciation helps you watch
the warriors. Kerry kiss it and can I a wall?
Speaker 4 (05:12):
It?
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Nice?
Speaker 1 (05:13):
It is nice? And just to round this lovely story off,
what it is? Just so people because everyone will go
during the break, what is it? Mike King of Snake
is an oldie, but of goody. That's fair enough, isn't
Katie King Snake? Innati great but small portions. I hate
it when people say that it's just the it's just
the it's the gluttony of the Western Well, I tell
(05:36):
you what, there's not much on the plate. Is there
seventeen dollars for that scooping? I wouldn't mind another couple
of those innati. Trust the chef, the staff for great.
Get to have a good chat with them and let
them serve you a dining masterpiece. It's an experience. So
there you now the next problem. Oh it's a peach
(05:57):
on comtesse.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Oh there we go. Yeah, I was wondering when we're
going to hear about the grog.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
It's not it's not grog, it's a it's a bottle.
It's a phone contest, which is a second growth from
the Left Bank and Bordeaux from Oh Saint Julienne from
the Apal St. Julienne and is one of the finest
fine of the finest wines in the world. Wow, it's amazing.
(06:26):
Next problem. Next problem, Jason's children are into the marimba.
What's that? Good question? So Jason's the boss, now the marimba?
What do you reckon?
Speaker 3 (06:39):
It?
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Would god? I'll do the murumb before you go. You
got it.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
It's David Byrne. It's David.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
I don't know what's happening.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
I don't know. Yes, I know that this was a
this was an a briefing document.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Was okay the walk or something? You've opened it already. Anyway,
I said, how many people pay the murma? So I'm
looking up the murumba? Do you know what you can
pay for a marimba? You listen to here's the it's
a musical instrument. It's Paul Simon, It's Graceland. It is
(07:22):
and he maimaima, isn't it. I'm sorry. You can buy
the Majestic four three h maurimba from the rock. Is
it a keyboard? Oh my lord, it's like listen played again, Glenn.
This is the marimba. How does it make the sound?
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Glen's given up and I'm not surprised, and then.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
It just here it is, okay, so you've got the
little so this guy's play actually playing it with with
two sticks in each hand, which I'm pretty sure Jason's
kids won't be well.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Not until they get to the advanced courses. Where are
they learning at Marimba school?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
This is this like they dump in Ta and it's
Marimbus greater and Murimber.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
It's like it's like Tracy's Murumba school. You pay, you
pay Tracy's mate anyway, the Majestic Inmate four three h
murimba from the rock shop. How much is it?
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Tim two thousand, seven hundred and eighty dollars two thousand,
seven hundred eighty How much you reckon it's Caddie.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
One hundred and eighty nine ninety five.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Twenty three thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
What ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
This is what kids get you into. They come home
and they go, wow.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Baby grand So you're still up being on the world
a boast the door for exactly if we get one
of those.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
So it's a recording, you start with. The recorder costs nothing.
Next thing. They know. They want the saxophone. They've got
to buy a saxophone in thew thousands. So Jason's kids
are bringing home they say, I want to pay them
mariumba twenty three thousand and ninety five dollars from the
rock shop.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
What do you do?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
It's so dad toe right.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
So I'm not buying you a damn recorder because it'll
end up in a marember. And we're twenty three k
and a whole forget about it.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
We're not crying and much before you get to the
transportation of them, I rember. They haven't thought this through.
No way you can transport this thing. It's like I
said of drums, it's ridiculous. Quick comment, Katie before we
go on nole in Tarua. Fair or unfair?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Oh, it's a disgrace. It's so unfair. And what we've
got is a generational issue where we've got we've got
too many soccer bubers coming through the ranks. We've we've
got a we've got a resilience problem with youth and
they're not up for it. They're not tough enough and
they don't like to be told what to do, when
to do, and how to do.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
It.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
They want to boost into tears and say everybody's being mean.
So I'm with Noline.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I think everyone's with Nolan.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Want Tim what Katie said times too.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
There we go as simple as that, there's another week,
just like that. Tim Wilson, Kate hawks me.
