He says they've always left open the possibility of reopening the border sooner than planned.
Tourism Holdings chief executive Grant Webster told Mike Hosking all they want is a firm date on when international visitors can return.
“We've got winter and summer coming up when people want to travel and New Zealanders want to get overseas and be able to get back without self-isolation as well so we’ve got to get moving.”
