Covid is leaving a high level of truancy in its wake.
Glen Innes School Principal Jono Hendricks says attendance at his school was 90 percent before Covid but was 70 percent last term.
That's despite intense work to allay fears about safety in the classroom.
He told Mike Hosking some parents are still concerned about whether school is safe for their young ones.
Hendricks says others condone absenteeism, which is a group that's hard to engage.
