Sport New Zealand has released new guiding principles allowing transgender athletes to participate in community sports in the gender they identify as.
Sport NZ chief executive Raelene Castle says that this is being done in the name of creating a more inclusive environment.
Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave says that the issue of inclusivity is a complicated factor in sports and that these guidelines will generate discussion.
