Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jamie McKay Hosts of the Countries with US. Jamie, Hello,
good a, Heather, Hey, I like the sound of the
Zespri campaign. You reckon it's going to work.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, I think so. I mean it's it's uh wonder
food really zespree this time of the year. I absolutely
love it. Heather on the consistently every morning for breakfast
to Kiwi fruit goals.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah, but are you Are you getting kywy fruit? That's
ripe because where I am in Central Auckland as hard
as a rock man.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
And that's just the way I like it, Heather. I
like green apples and i like green gold Kiwi fruit,
so I'm as happy as Larry. You don't want to
soft and mushy.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Really no, no, I don't want it to be softer mushy.
I'm with you. That's nasty. But like it is like.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
A rock well, yes and no, it's as long as
you can get your spoon in there, Heather, see spoon
having cut it in half. I think it's it's fair
game to be fair.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
I'm going to get a few biceps for that. So
basically what the campaign is is they're trying to get
people around the world to swap out one unhealthy food
and swap in a healthy food and its replacement, hopefully
a kiwi fruit.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, And it was this campaign was
launched in Japan when he finally got there by our
Prime Minister Christopher Luxeon along with Cespry. The interesting fact
out of this story, Heather that I found it interesting anyhow,
As I said, they launched it in Japan, which has
some of the lowest consumption of fresh fruit globally. And
(01:22):
I thought Japan, and I've been there once and loved
their food. It seemed very very healthy to me, and
I didn't note a lack of fresh fruit and veggies,
So there you go. I mean, the sky's the limits
for keywi fruit and our apples and our horticultural products
in Japan. And I think Todd McClay, who I chatted
to today on the country, and Prime Minister Luxe and
(01:43):
are doing a good job, you know, rustling up some
business for end Za and go over there.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yeah, good stuff. Now what are we expecting from the
GDT auction?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Wow, mine's greater than mine. Namely Mike mcintiere, the guy
I used a chart and he says, look the futures markets,
this is the second GDT auction of the new season.
By the way, the futures market is pointing for a
little a little more than a one percent fall in
the powders, closer to five percent in the fats, But
I mean calling for that all year, it hasn't. In fact,
(02:11):
one of those fat categories AMS has been up twenty
auctions in a row. So Mike reckon, sooner or later,
they're going to be right and it will come off
its lofty highs. It's interesting that we're heading into the
last low auction volumes before moving into the peak, and
this is the Northern Hemisphere peak, but offshore inventory outside
(02:33):
of China, where they seem to be making plenty of
it at the moment, remains fairly tight. So Mike's hoping
that maybe that's futures markets are wrong, as they have
been in recent weeks, and we get yet another positive
globaldiry trade auction tonight.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, how good would that be? Jamie? Thank you so much,
enjoy you keep for it. Tomorrow's Jamie mccaigh, host of
the Country.
